Grover is the absolute sweetest 😭🫶

Ofc he’s super sassy too but that’s besides the point

Grover initially is a bit hesitant on acting on his crush on you

Especially if you’re a demigod and mostly because he’s just shy like that

He needs some obvious encouragement and gets a good amount of it from annabeth and Percy

I mean, from first glance Grover has been attracted to you and just you as a person overall

Unfortunately he hadn’t gotten the opportunity to be your friend just yet but that was one of his main goals

He eventually began running into you, usually at the pavilion when he would talk to Percy or if you work at the strawberry fields then he gets to know you

Otherwise you’re introduced by Percy, his wingman

He’s so painfully awkward around you it sorta endearing 😭

He really doesn’t know how to romance you or even begin trying to get close to you as a friend so he’s definitely struggling with that

He had planned this a million times, rehearsed it to the point it was engraved into his mind-

You had just confessed to him in a seconds impulsivity when this guy had been mentally preparing your whole friendship

EVEN BEFORE

his jaw drops and gave up on trying to create a romantic atmosphere

He just turns to you deflated and admits that he was planning on confessing

And when you noticed his demeanor you had asked how long he’d been planning to, thus him explaining the embarrassingly long amount of time he put into his plan

He was so embarrassed and his face showed just that

All you could really do was laugh at his expression and find it endearing

Of course you two end up together after that and Grover, despite his previous sulking, was a very happy saytr

i know ive asked you this million times but what do u think the sexualities of all the heroes of olympus characters are

i’m sorry i’ve ignored this question whenever you’ve sent it 🫣 to be honest, i’m scared of offending people lol. but i guess i’ll give my thoughts. just know that i respect all opinions and i love reading posts that have versions and opinions that differ from my own

to me, percy and annabeth are both pretty dam straight. it’s just how i’ve always perceived their characters, you know? and canonically, they’ve only been romantically attracted to opposite sexes

frank, the sweetie, is a bit young to say, but he’s most likely straight in my mind.

tbh i’m not even gonna say anything about hazel because she’s way too young for me to even think about it seriously. she also grew up in a time where it wasn’t a choice, so it’s hard to say how she would adapt to more modern times.

jason is probably straight, but it’s hard to say. given his upbringing and memory loss, i can’t be too sure about him. but i can totally see him being bi. that said, i don’t see him dating percy or leo (although i do love seeing those posts lol) because i think the two of them are like brothers to jason, but i can see him with a guy. so in conclusion, he’s probably straight, but also i can see him being bi.

my girl piper is definitely not straight lol, so she’s probably bi or pan or something like that.

and then there’s leo… LOL. leo is hard. i used to think he was super straight, but over time ive grown to see him being pan but with more attraction to women. leo just kinda gives the vibes of being interested in anyone if they’re attractive enough and have a personality he likes. his type could very well be “anyone with a pulse”

now remember, this is how i view them canonically. according to the books. when it comes to the fandom, i love reading all different versions of them, regardless of sexuality, physical looks, perspectives, etc. it’s just like how when i imagine percy and annabeth, i picture their 17-18 year old selves, with percy having black hair and green eyes and annabeth having blonde hair and grey eyes. BUT that doesn’t mean their tv show actors, or art of them looking different, are any less percy and annabeth. (cause i adore leah and walker.) does that make sense?? i hope it makes sense lol

ok yes the “she met a pinecone’s fate” felt so mean and out of place with the empathetic Percy we see in the book’s narrative BUT !!

when rewatching the scene my attention was brought back to what annabeth says before that— “she fought valiantly and met a hero’s fate.” i remember thinking about how brainwashed (for lack of a better word) annabeth is. she respects the gods immensely at this point in her life, all she wants is for her mother to notice her, because that’s all she knows. her father let the emotional neglect go so far that she ran away at seven years old, and her mother only communicates with her a few times.

her idea of a hero is the willingness to self-sacrifice, and the bearing of tragedy in life, but this idea disregards the fact that had the gods been more attentive and present, thalia wouldn’t have had to do sacrifice her life. her concept of a hero’s fate ignores the unjust fact that thalia was only recognized by her father in death and is hyper-focused on the honor that it is to be given a god’s time of day. we also see annabeth holding the gods to a high esteem later in the episode when she argues with medusa in favor of the story that she’s heard rather than what the person who lived through it has to say. as well as when she tries to stop percy from sending medusa’s head to olympus.

this ties into percy’s “impertinent” behavior toward the gods. we know percy thinks the gods are fucked up, he shows it in the book and the series early on when he learns about them. he’s mad at poseidon and acknowledges that it’s his fault sally is gone, unprotected and seemingly unnoticed, and that percy is kinda left to fend for himself in a new world. in the series he prays to his mom instead of his father despite seeing the tribute the other kids give to their godly parents. he rejects that side of his parentage because he feels his mom is the only one who deserves the credit for his life. he says that the gods had been unfair to thalia in the book when he learns about her. he defends himself against the Zeus’s accusation by saying “‘i’m just a kid!’” i think that line is important, and especially what annabeth says about it later on, because it shows how different their mindsets are.

percy has been protected and loved by his mom his entire life up to this point. she’s tried to give him a good life, and that’s the root of his character. he realizes the incredulity of this entire situation because he has not been fighting to survive without the love and support of a parent since he was young. annabeth left her home at a young age, was left in dangerous conditions, and fought for her life when she was only 7, and she’s been training for war ever since. she’s surrounded by kids who went through the same thing, specifically luke and formerly thalia. in the series, annabeth takes the “I’m just a kid” claim and reveals she finds it naive and ignorant, because he’s a part of something bigger than him and that he needs to accept his fate. (again, she’s been preparing for this her whole life, he’s been thrust into it after losing his mom)

when percy hears this story from grover about three demigods on the run, two of them near his age when they went through it, he is hearing a story about three kids being ignored and left to fend for themselves by their parents. he’s already angry about the gods’ lack of interference and how normal it seems to be at camp. when he hears annabeth regard thalia and her ultimate fate as heroic and respectable, he doesn’t see it as the same. he finds thalia heroic and brave, but her fate not so much. annabeth’s admiration contrasts his questioning toward the gods. percy most likely found Zeus’s decision to finally notice his daughter by turning her into a tree as anything but heroic, more pathetic.

at least that’s how i interpret the “she met a pinecone’s fate” line. I think it adds to his reputation and growing disdain for the gods and their attitude. idk what do u guys think 😫

Hey! Not sure how many times I can request, so I’ll just make my appearance as small as I can (no promises though 😉)

B u t.

I was able to think of something else, because I was inspired by the story of Pallas and Athena (she was a daughter of Triton and friends with Athena before accidentally getting killed by her during a competition). So, how does a relationship between a child of Triton (a.k.a the reader) and Annabeth sound?

Maybe things were rocky at first, since Annabeth was a hard-to-get gal, but the more the reader protected her and went out of their way to use every drop of their power JUST for her the more Annabeth started to love them. Does that sound good?

(P.S. I don’t know why, but I can see the reader accidentally splashing Annabeth with water at one point when they tried to woo her, which ended up with her reeking of salt water for days. Also, I think you did a good job with Hecate!reader! Oh, and sorry for how long this is.)

I REALLY like this one because we all know how Annabeth is with stories of the gods and heros

She’s studied and remembers all of the ancient stories of Greek mythology, so it only made sense for her to avoid you after finding out your father was Triton

So while both of you know the story of Pallas and Athena, you don’t think much of it while Annabeth fully believes that history can and will repeat itself

Which is why she avoids reader to the MAX when they first meet

As much as she gravitated towards your easygoing and friendly personality, Annabeth feared that your guys’ friendship would lead to your demise one way or another

You wanting to prove her wrong on her theory, made it a point to try and be her friend, no matter what😍😍

Small talks turn into full conversations, with you mostly speaking while Annabeth tries not to give in to the temptation of continuing the interesting subjects you bring up

Imagine you standing up for her whenever Clarrise and her siblings start talking smack about her :0

“Back off Clarrise, why don’t you actually do something productive for once instead of obsessing over Annabeth.”

Cue some insults thrown your way while said girl walks away

“I had that covered Y/N, I didn’t need your help. But… thanks, anyway.”

SHES SO FLUSTERED AS SHE WALKS AWAY WHILE YOU CHUCKLE AHH

Your smile when you to bump into the girl around camp slowly breaks her resolve too

You always manage to see how her eyes light up whenever you’re around which makes your heart FLUTTER UGH

Lingering eyes on each other definitely makes Annabeth rethink her original plan on keeping her distance from you

Ok maybe it’s just me but I can see the reader being kind of a show off BUT IN A GOOD WAY

Like you’re always trying to get Annabeth’s attention one way or another, meaning that some of those ways aren’t the smartest ones

Like one time you wanted to put up a water show for the girl which ended up with her and anyone in a 100 foot vicinity to be soaked in sea water after a miscalculation on how much water you needed to complete your show💀💀

She pretended to be upset with how you made her and countless other campers smell like salt water but would bust out laughing whenever she saw you around camp for the entirety of the week

Secretly loved it though because the water smelt similar to you

Annabeth would slowly forget about Pallas and her mothers story especially after seeing you risk your life countless times for her during battles and secret attacks near the camp

Like that one time you forced her to stay within the camp grounds once you saw how she was knocked down by an angry hellhound

She can still remember being held back by some of her siblings as she watched you get ganged up by more hellhounds, watching from the side as your chest heaved in exhaustion

Remembering how she rushed to your side, gently holding your face as fear coursed through her body, watching as you took shallow breathes

It was then that she knew she grew to care about you too much to just stand by while you protected her from the monsters of the world

Her eyes still trace over the scars left behind from that battle, guilt planting itself in her heart whenever you catch her eye when she’s caught staring at you

Definitely gets frustrated at you when you don’t understand why she was so upset when you took her place in the battlefield

She cares for you too much and she would let out her confession to you in the moment

Then you would confess to her as well and basically explain why you protected her the way you did and everything would easily fall into place

Now she isn’t afraid to hold long conversations with you, but she does tend to hide her face in your shoulder when her siblings tease her about her new partner

You would definitely join in on their teasing too💀

Annabeth enjoys taking long walks beside the shore with you

Sometimes you even take her below into the cool abyss and just take her to your favorite spots in the ocean

She also enjoys being able to hug you whenever, loving how the fresh scent of the sea tends to linger on your skin URGHHH😭💔💔💔💔

chapter 3

Piper

Piper was guilty as heck. Her being the daughter of the goddess of love should’ve made her good at breakups. But she messed it up. Not wanting to use charmspeak on Jason, she winged it and didn’t even get to tell him the most important part. Piper checked her phone again, before getting out of bed and making breakfast.

She had sent a few texts to Jason apologising but she hadn’t gotten a word back. She had also sent a few texts to Leo, he hadn’t answered too.

Sitting down with the fried egg she made, she texted the only person that could make her feel better right now.

‘Hey Annabeth! Wanna meet up? Grab coffee maybe?’

A few minutes passed by and Piper’s phone buzzed.

‘Hey Piper! Yeah, I’m up for it. Where should we meet though. I’m checking out a new school in LA btw’

‘Good! I live there lol. I have a really nice coffee shop I like thats close too. The address is *********.’

‘K, that’s gonna take me like 30 mins to get there. I’ll leave now. See u there?’

‘Yea! I’ll be there’

Piper smiled. She needed someone to talk to about the breakup, and who better than Annabeth? She was one of Piper’s best friends and a person that Piper had gone through a lot with. Putting that aside, she put on a pair of baggy jeans, a white shirt and a dark green jumper she had decorated with lots of different patches.

She left the house and in her excitement, didn’t notice a text from Leo: ‘Hey Beauty Queen. Dw, everything’s ok, Jason’s w me and he’s safe. Calm down lol’

Piper arrived at the cafe and Annabeth was already sitting at a table in the corner. The blonde waved to Piper.

“Hey Piper! I haven’t seen you in a little while”

“Same! How has life been?”

“Eh, it’s kinda boring. Ever since the Giant War I’ve just been at camp and school. It’s dull” Annabeth said dejectedly, swirling her coffee.

“Damn. I mean I had a wild day yesterday”

“What happened?”

“For one, I broke up with Jason”

“What? Why? What did he do?” Piper noticed Annabeth said that last sentence as if she was going to make Jason pay for what he ‘did’.

“He didn’t do anything, don’t worry. It’s me. I’ve had a hard time trying to say this, and I didn’t even tell him yesterday but I don’t think I like guys at all”

“Oh. Well congratulations. One for figuring it out and two for being brave enough to tell someone”

“Thanks. Only you and Leo know. I know I need to tell Jason but I’m scared.”

“Hey” At this Annabeth took Piper’s hands in hers. Piper blushed. “You have done harder things than coming out to your best friend. He cares for you, that will never change.”

“Yeah, thanks” Piper said, still blushing.

“I’ve finished my coffee, wanna pay and leave”To Piper’s relief, Annabeth changed the topic.

“Yeah sure. I’ll pay.” Piper said and took out her card.

“Nu-uh. I’m paying.” Annabeth took her card out too and pushed Piper’s away.

“No.” said Piper simply. She called over a waiter who took her card and scanned it.

“I will get you back” Annabeth joked and stood up. Piper stood up after her and they left.

“Anything else new in your life? Maybe something positive?” Annabeth chuckled.

“Yeah actually” Piper said. “I’ve been learning how to draw.”

“Really? Can you show me some drawings?” Annabeth said inquisitively.

“Oh… sure.” Piper took out a small book filled with sketches of houses and people and furniture.

“Whoah!” Annabeth exclaimed, startling Piper. “These are amazing. The only sketches I can do are ones for blueprints and stuff.” Annabeth then started looking through all the sketches. “I can’t believe how lifelike these look, these are amazing!” The blonde lifted her head up to find it was inches away from Piper’s. She pulled away quickly and turned red. “Sorry…”

“It’s fine” Piper felt herself blush too. “I didn’t think they were that good though”

“They’re amazing. Hey, do you mind sketching me?” The blonde had a hint of shyness in her voice.

“Sure! You’re just gonna have to sit relatively still for a few minutes” Piper said excitedly, opening up her notebook to a blank page.

Piper took out a pencil from her bag and began sketching.

After around 3 minutes, Piper sat up and put her pencil away. “Okay, I’m done! What do you think?” Piper showed Annabeth her sketch.

“It’s amazing! I look better here than I do in real life” Annabeth said, smiling.

“Come on, you look amazing in real life too.” Piper answered and Annabeth blushed, then her eyes widened. “Thanks. Wait, do you wanna get ice cream?”

“Yes”

“Alright, what flavour?”

“Choc chip”

“Same! Alright, I’ll go get it” Annabeth stood up and went towards the ice cream van. She bought the ice cream and returned.

“Wanna start going back?” Annabeth asked and handed one cone to Piper.

“Sure” Piper stood up and both walked back to the coffee shop.

“Okay, well this was so fun. We should do this again.” Piper said.

“Yeah, I’m probably going to move here for school. The one I visited was really good.”

“That’s amazing! Well then we should definitely see each other again” Piper said excitedly

“Yeah. Sun’s going down so we should go.”

“Yeah. I’ll text you”

“Not if I do it first!” Annabeth laughed and waved to Piper as she left.

Piper waved back and started moving back to her house.

At her house, Piper was bored again. Annabeth had taken her mind off of her breakup. She sat on her balcony and checked her phone. She’d missed the text from Leo earlier so she answered: ‘Hey Leo, thanks for telling me. How is Jason taking the breakup? I handled it so badly I can’t’

‘Girl it’s not as bad as u think. He’s fine, he told me everything. U should talk to him tho.’

‘Bro ik. I wanna give him a bit of time alone from me.’

‘Sure, we’re alone in the countryside on Festus’

‘Ooohhh so romantic!’

‘Why does everyone say that?? I’m not in love with him’

‘Or are you??’

‘I’m not!’

‘Sure…’ with this, Piper was left on read. Annabeth was all Piper could think about after. She would soon live here and Piper saw a real future where they were really close friends, or maybe more.

(pjo spoilers if you havent seen it yet but bestie the book came out almost 20 years ago....where u been)

this is just about the pacing and actual format of the show but i feel like lukes betrayal could've been so much more impactful if we actually saw more of luke (and his bond with percy) throughout the show. and i don't necessarily mean add more luke scenes. even just moving the scene of them training in the forest to half way through the show (or better yet the beginning) could've been a huge help. we learned the episode before that percy thinks its clarisse. we knew it wasn't going to be clarisse because we could tell there was supposed to be some grand revelation and him thinking its clarisse sort of eliminates her as the culprit. the way they framed it made it obvious luke was the traitor. annabeth is obviously not it. they already sorta went down the grover path. we know it's not going to actually be clarisse. what other kid were we introduced to? luke. by process of elimination it had to be him. and if you didn't already figure that out by then, adding the scene of luke and percy training and talking at the beginning of an episode that reveals the traitor when we haven't really seen luke for most of the show? pretty dead giveaway. we had maybe an episode or two actually at camp? we could've snuck the scene in there instead. or we could put the flashback at a more inconspicuous point like midway and not....literally the finale. like...idk the conversation luke had with percy in that scene felt like it would've reflected better in percy if we had seen it earlier. like...before he met his dad idk. i do recognize this show is for like 13 year olds and it's not that deep but 🤷🏻‍♀️

What the fuck.

Currently, to catch you up, there is a cardboard box on the steps of the Athena cabin and it’s shifting ever so slightly to the left. Which leads you to think what the fuck.

Annabeth nudges you as you try to make out the words at the top of the box after a few seconds of focus you get it to what it actually says: Handel with care. You furrow your eyebrows before turning to Annabeth and Malcolm who is also trying to find out why the box is moving before he gives up and just goes to rip the box open, willing to be a possible prank victim.

Then a mass of black, eight legged creatures crawl out the box and all three of you scream, almost falling down the rest of the steps at the sheer amount of spiders crawling out the small box. The panic lasts about a minute before you hear laughter coming from behind the trees next to the cabin, laughter that sounds suspiciously like your boyfriend and his almost twin brother.

“God, Malcolm, you should see your faces.” Travis says between laughs, wide smiles on the two boys’ faces as they watch the trio of smartest Athena children, stumbling over a box of fake spiders.

“Fuck you Travis.” Malcolm huffs out in response, walking down the steps and away from the now obviously fake insects, Connor running up the few steps to turn off all the spiders before they get too far.

Annabeth huffs when the brothers go to apologise and ends up just turning around with a roll of her eyes and walks away from cabin 6, muttering some colourful complaints all the way that you and Malcolm fully agree with. Travis goes and apologises to Malcolm, an arm round his shoulder as your brother tries to completely ignore him despite the older Stoll brother showing no signs of giving up.

You watch them both walk off and go to do the same thing before you feel familiar arms wrap around your waist from behind, a soft kiss placed on your jaw that makes your face heat up on its own accord.

“Look, ‘m sorry, baby.” Connor says, a teasing smile on his face despite him genuinely apologising. “Y’know I didn’t want you to be mad at me.” He adds, trying to act all innocent.

“Get off, Connor, that was mean.” You grumble, pushing his arms but he tightens his grip, pulling you closer to your cabin walls so you aren’t in plain sight.

“I know, baby, but it was kinda funny, you gotta admit-“ he’s cut off with a slap to the shoulder and he just laughs, moving so he’s standing in-front of you, the smirk gone as he looks into your eyes.

“I’m sorry, really.” He repeats, his hands on your upper arms, trying to keep you still as you glance back at the box.

“You spelt handle wrong.” You respond simply, a small smile on your face as you place a small kiss on his cheek before walking up the steps and into your cabin.

(Connor definitely wasn’t following until you got to the box and he picked it up, analysing his spelling)

It had been years since Percy had talked to you, and he missed you a lot. He missed everything about you: your hair, your smile, your attitude, your personality, your laughter—everything. He was genuinely getting sick from thinking of you all the time. Nothing else went through his mind other than you, and it was embarrassing. He had pushed you away, rejected your advances to become more than friends. Normally, he could forget about you most of the day... that was until you came back to camp.

You left camp the summer Percy snapped at you, and he lost all contact with you. You blocked him on everything. So when Percy saw you again for the first time in years, it broke him. You had changed so much yet stayed the same. You were taller, more confident, stronger than before, and you looked better. You walked with confidence, knowing your worth, but your hair was the same, your attitude, personality, laughter, sarcasm—the exact same. And yet, Percy stayed the same, and that was putting it nicely. He had changed; yes, he was stronger, but he looked a mess, dark eye bags, eyes filled with regret. He missed you, and he needed you.

He couldn’t help but stare at you when you walked by or played volleyball with the other demigods, or when you shot your bow. His thoughts of you became worse. He had to talk to you, even if that meant sucking up his ego. He walked over to you, blushing at the way you were so focused on the target, nothing but determination behind your eyes. He coughed.

“Y/n…”

Your eyes widened as you quickly put down the bow, refusing to turn your eyes to the speaker.

“…” The silence was loud, too loud. It hurt your ears and his.

“Y-Y/n…” Percy was shocked. Your eyes were filled with hatred; the soft spot behind your eyes for him was gone. Your face showed no signs of entertainment.

“Make it quick, will you?”

“R-Right… sorry. Look, Y/n, I know you’re mad at me, and I think I know why.”

“You think?” You scoffed. “Still can’t take accountability, can you?”

Percy swallowed his spite. “Look, Y/n, I know you’re mad at me. I know I deserved it, but please, I miss you. I miss what we had. I miss being your friend. I’m… nothing without you. I need you!”

“Now you want me?” Your grin got bigger. “You want me! Years after you broke me? You led me on for years and broke me when I was getting too much to handle, and now you want me!?” Your voice was getting louder. “I was someone completely different for you. You’re the reason I don’t know who I am! I don’t know what my favorite drink or my favorite color is. I don’t know my likes or dislikes because I was everything you wanted!”

“I never told you to do that!?”

“You treated me like shit, Percy!” You looked up at him, tears in the corners of your eyes. “I am better without you. I am stronger, and as long as you stay out of my life, I will be bigger than you.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, watch your back, Percy… I will become stronger than you… You broke me because you were in my life, and I will break you because I’m not in your life.”

Percy’s heart broke at your words. “Y-You’re kidding, right? Y-You have to be, right!? Please be!?”

“If you excuse me, I have stuff to do.” You turned around, leaving Percy standing alone. He wanted to run after you, hug you at least one more time, but he couldn’t. His feet wouldn’t move.

“Percy…?” A voice filled with betrayal said behind him. Percy turned quickly.

“Annabeth!?”

“What’s wrong with you?” She looked hurt and pissed. “You really started begging like a dog for a girl who doesn’t want you while having a girlfriend? That's pathetic. I expected better of you.”

“I didn’t mean it, I swear. I was just overwhelmed by emotions.”

“Grow up, Percy. I’m not dumb. I don’t want to be your second choice. It’s over.” The way she spat out "it’s over" sent him over the edge.

“Wait, Annabeth!?” He ran to her side only to be knocked down. “Don’t touch me EVER again!” She snapped at him. “I will break each one of your fingers if you try that again,” she threatened and started walking back to her cabin. “Mom was right… Men suck.” She sighed before tearing up slightly.

HII i just wanted someone’s thoughts but do u think they’ll make/hint at thaluke in the show bc ik a lot of ppl bc thalia as lesbian and everyone hates the ship but i think it’s such a big part as to why luke does what he does??

i don't know tbh. i would love for them to actually give us some thaluke on the show but the way things are going... i'm still holding out for at least a whisper of it during luke's speech at the end when he betrays percy. everyone can ship what they want and platonic thaluke is just as valid (i would be a huge hypocrite if i said friendship is not enough for you to want to take down the gods). but i believe in the textual evidence (diary of luke castellan) that tells us luke had at least a bit of a crush on thalia (him almost dropping that poison when she kissed his cheek?? him admitting he does as she wills because he thinks her eyes are pretty?? come on). so if the show was following canon thaluke would be inevitable. or at the least it would come up in conversation that luke and thalia at one point had feelings for each other. if i trusted the show to actually make luke a consistent character instead of someone who switches from cartoonishly evil villain to misunderstood anti-hero depending on what chapter you're reading, i think we could get a narrative thread that actually paid off thalia as luke's motivation and also showed us her side of things. they would mean something to each other instead of thalia becoming a hunter of artemis and getting dropped by rick (with no confirmation on whether she's luke's achilles heel like annabeth is percy's or her not being allowed in the scene if his death). But as is... i don't trust the show to do anything, and if they do i don't trust them to do it in a satisfactory manner.
