how do killjoys treat raygun burns? i genuinely have no idea and i know you've already gone pretty in-depth with raygun wounds in general but i was curious about the treatment

cw: we’re gonna be talking about medical stuff and injuries in here. i’m not gonna include any graphic pictures and also i’m gonna warn anyone who wants to do further research that some of the images that’ll come up are gonna be pretty damn graphic. tread carefully!

SO i’m gonna be going off this ask here, and running with the assumption that raygun burns probably both bleed and burn. thats important since thats gonna affect how youd do treatment. it also means that raygun injuries are messy. most burn injuries in the real world can cauterize - theyre unique in that the site of injury is usually sterile at the time of injury. however, since the rayguns in this world are capable of making someone bleed (rather a lot too, if the comics are any indication), that means that these wounds can get pretty gnarly.

the important thing about how rayguns in danger days seem to work is that they are not pure laser bolts! if they were, they’d be able to pass through something and cauterize it pretty neatly, like a lightsaber. the raygun blasts have an obvious physical component - they can physically knock someone back, for example, and we see sparks shower when people are shot in the music videos. so rayguns in danger days have an apparent kinetic component to them: you are basically applying heat to the human body at high velocity.

ONCE AGAIN, THIS GOT LONG. THE REST IS UNDER A CUT. mind the content warnings above!!

other than that, we’re not sure what specifically the makeup of the lasers like...are. electromagnetic radiation? plasma? heat? electricity? i doubt its pure electricity since that would be more consistently fatal, but it is some kind of bolt that has both heat and velocity on its side to be sure, but thats the extent of what we know.

now logically, this would actually cause the human body to like. explode. cause thats what happens when you apply that much heat to something made of mostly water. getting hit with a bolt of something that hot would cause all that water to boil off abruptly and then the steam would fucking parboil you. not a fun way to go though it is funny that the steam would be the thing that causes the most damage. so yeah actually a very gory kind of injury.

obviously thats not what happens in danger days, since no one to my knowledge Fucking Explodes when theyre hit with a laser bolt. but lasers from rayguns can make blood FOUNTAIN OUT OF A DUDE’S GUT in the comics so obviously they can do a hell of a lot of damage (the mvs are way less explicit but they also werent allowed to like, swear in the mvs and had to tone down some of the violence and shit so im taking the comics canon as the more “realistic” one wrt rayguns here) the science here is kinda...eh, cause laser bolts don’t appear to be a penetrating injury but rather a messy “burn and blister” kind of injury that are nonetheless capable of making someone eat it pretty quick.

but this is danger days and this is kinda where science goes to die so here is how i view laser injuries in the universe:

danger days laser bolts have a kinetic or explosive quality to them.

what this means is that the injury is twofold: first, the heat damages the external layer of skin. i’d hazard that we’re talking second-to-third degree burn levels of injury on immediate contact. second, the kinetic energy released at that velocity and force generates an explosive impact that does damage to surrounding tissue.

what’s left is an injury that both burns and bleeds. my take on it is that the bolt impact creates the open wound, while the heat intensifies that damage and disseminates it. you need a temp of maybe 300ºF and higher to cauterize a wound so lasers would have to burn at least a little bit lower than that since the injuries do consistently bleed. but since the human body is pretty sensitive to high temperatures that works out in our favor seeing as if you heat things too much, again, the risk is that we would Fucking Explode.

lots of burn injuries, especially third degree and higher, tend to bleed. since thats the closest thing i have to compare to a laser wound in danger days, thats going to be my basis here.

treating a raygun injury is likely to resemble burn treatment in a lot of ways

burn treatment stuff varies a lot and i will spare you guys from googling this and going “oh thank you google images thank you for showing me what a graphic third degree burn looks like i am so glad that i know this and that this is in my search history and keeps popping up in my search history im SO GLAD.”

burn injuries go by degrees. first degree is like mild sunburn basically, and only affects the epidermis or external layer of skin. second degree affects the top and middle layers of skin and can leave blisters. third degree burns go all the way to the subcutaneous fat layer and can leave the skin white and charred. fourth degree burns can go through nerves and muscles and even down to the bone and can cause permanent damage that requires amputation. at fifth degree you have significant risk of organ injury and at sixth it’s basically like “fifth degree, but with the common side effect of Death.”

again im not linking to anything here because pretty much every information article you get on this stuff is gonna have some nice graphic images. so if you look this stuff up on your own do it at your own risk or have an image/media blocker extension ready if that kinda thing squicks you out

the main takeaway is that any burn from like the third degree downward can be very brutal and hard to heal over - they can cause swelling and severe scarring and the destruction of the epidermis and hair follicles means that new hair won’t grow. add to that the idea of raygun blasts tearing open that external layer of skin that means that you can get burns that go in pretty deep which would go a long way to explain how it is a weapon that doesn’t appear to have a lot of “penetrating” energy is capable of killing someone relatively immediately, especially if theyve got that initial kinetic impact thats capable of tearing open the dermis and making the injury go deeper.

im going to tentatively say that raygun injuries are basically full-thickness burns with a few bells and whistles. basically, they destroy the epidermis and the layer of skin below it, the dermis. thats the level of third/fourth degree burns and worse, essentially.

so, serious burn treatment usually goes as follows:

clean! that! wound! it’s best to do this in a sterile environment, cause otherwise youre gonna end up blistering the injury and agitating it further. you wanna get all the dead tissue and gunk off the burn.

pain medication. with most burns the nerve endings can get pretty fried and you might not immediately experience any pain, but since raygun injuries go a little harder than your average burn, thats probably not the case. people definitely consistently react in pain after theyre shot with a raygun in the both the mvs and the comics. so yeah, its painful. pain medication is nice to mute that feeling.

antibiotics and/or tetanus shots to make sure that you don’t get an infection

intravenous fluids containing electrolytes as well as a diet high in protein and nutritional supplements

antibiotic ointments/creams for the injury

skin grafts to close the injury since a burn of that severity would have difficulty closing completely on its own. yikes.

continuous monitoring of the patient to prevent sepsis and eschar from fucking with the blood vessels and healing tissue.

obviously killjoys do not have the benefit of a fully stocked hospital. if youre in bat city youre probably gonna be in more luck. but if youre slumming it or if youre in the zones, heres what i imagine the killjoy diy procedure would likely be:

application of water over the wound. cool water is best, not ice-cold (alright alright alright alright alright etc)

cleaning the injury comes next to prevent infection. ideally you would use soap. do not scrub as youll agitate the wound

pain medication might be helpful here, but who knows if thats common out in the zones - and i imagine city-born killjoys might have some hang-ups with taking meds, so who fuckin knows there.

bandages, ideally clean ones, would help cover up the injury and keep it from the elements in time for it to heal. that will also cover up the skin while the bleeding heals up. keep the wound as closed from infection as possible.

check up on the injury consistently especially since the burn probably wasnt sterilized on impact the way most burns are. a messy injury like that one can go south very very quick.

realistically i doubt that skin grafts are readily available. its recommended that you stay out of the sun and avoid lots of exercise that might risk reopening the injury. and that...is going to be nigh impossible if youre a zonerunner lol. its likely that improper treatment can lead to infection and then death. it is also likely that too much agitation of the injury can lead to the wound reopening, infection, and then death.

if you get stuff like light grazes, where the bolts clip you but dont fully impact you, that means youre like to get some surface-level burns that cover a larger surface area. theyll heal quicker if you treat them right, but thats a larger area thats open to infection. burns that go deep into the skin have more immediate fatality risk. there could be variation here as well! maybe a laser gun with a lower or dying charge will do less damage. maybe some guns have fancy “stun” settings that don’t do permanent damage.

the human body is surprisingly resilient and can recover from a lot. but burns are no joke and a raygun blast can easily be fatal either immediately or a little bit after the fact. even if you survive the blast, there are likely to be a lot of repercussions to taking a serious hit, which im again basing on the noted consequences of major burn injuries

likely consequences of surviving a raygun hit in the zones:

scarring. especially without skin grafts, this ones gonna be a gimme, and likely permanent. serious burns can leave lots of color changes to the skin as well as keloid tissue (which is a raised, lumpy kind of scar tissue. you can google it if you want but as i warned before: images might be pretty grody). this would also prevent the growth of new hair in those areas. most hospitals try to excise this and replace it with skin grafts to speed healing but like i said thats not likely to be an obvious solution in the desert.

nerve damage. burns that go super deep can permanently remove the feeling from the affected part of the body. this is likely to be permanent. deep contact usually remains intact but stuff like subtle pressure changes can be outright impossible to sense. this can also cause contractures in the affected area.

weakness in the affected area. related to the above point, damage to muscle tissue and nerves can reduce range of motion, strength in that area, and more.

itching and pain at the site of injury. pretty self-explanatory. that one might get better as you go on depending on how good the medical treatment was at the time of injury.

inability to sweat. the destruction of sweat glands in affected areas are possible if the burn goes deep enough. in the desert this can be very bad news lol

psychological trauma. a given. any traumatic injury can have long-term psychological effects.

my main takeaway here is that killjoys who’ve been in lots of serious firefights are gonna have a sHITTON of scarring, some of it obvious. lots of killjoys looking pretty fucked up. lookin wiped out. my other takeaway is that surviving a raygun blast is pretty dependent on getting care for it as soon as possible, cause the infection/hemorrhage risk seems pretty high.

ofc this is just me analyzing this shit to hell and back and it’s probably nowhere near that scientifically DENSE im just detail-oriented as hell. so take or leave this answer, whichever you like lol. i like writing the nitty gritty details of injuries since i generally wanna emphasize how rough life in the zones can be so this is something im interested in exploring.

Said girl smiled at her teacher, “Thanks, Harin-unnie.”

Today Yoori was at her weekly lesson for her pole dancing class. She had been learning for almost a year now, and was very pleased to say that she had improved very much.

“I’m very impressed by how far you’ve come, and the fact that you just showed me a routine that you made yourself,” Harin praised Yoori, ruffling her hair.

Yoori beamed, “I’m glad you liked it! I’ve been working hard on it.”

“I could tell,” the older girl smiled at Yoori, turning to begin to clean up around the room. Yoori skipped to her and then helped her clean up as well.

“Oh, you do have to help me. I tell you this every time,” Harin playfully glared at the girl.

“But I still help you every time,” Yoori grinned.

“Why can’t you be this helpful at home?”

Yoori and Harin turned to the door, where Hongjoong and Seonghwa were.

“I don’t believe my eyes. The girl can clean,” Seonghwa mocked surprise.

“Shit,” Yoori grumbled, looking away from the boys. She whispered to Harin, “Think I can make a run for it?”

“Doubt it,” Harin laughed.

“So I’m definitely putting you on clean up duty this week,” Seonghwa said, arms crossed, smirking.

“I’m not coming home,” Yoori spoke to the ceiling, stretching her arms, “I’m gonna be living with Unnie now.”

Said girl turned to her, brow quirked, “Really now?”

“Well you can take her,” Hongjoong stated, hands on hip, chuckling.

“Be warned, she’s kinda messy,” Seonghwa added.

“Hey!” Yoori marched up to the boys, glaring, “Why didn’t San come and get me? I don’t like it when you guys come. You’re rude.”

Hongjoong patted her head, “Wooyoung stole him for the afternoon. So we’re on babysitting duty.”

“I hate you,” Yoori gave him a straight face.

“This is really cute,” Harin motioned at the three, smiling.

“Aren’t we?” Yoori smiled, winking at her.

“I thought you hated us?” Seonghwa raised a brow at Yoori. She smiled at him just as he grabbed her and hugged her from behind.

“So if you’re now living with Harin-sunbae, then we can throw out all of your stuffed animals and manga collection?” Hongjoong asked. Yoori shook her head, eyes wide.

“Yeah, it all takes up so much space,” Seonghwa nodded, pretending to be serious.

“Touch my babies, and I’ll kill you,” Yoori whispered. No one touches her plushies, especially threatening to throw them out. She worked how to collect them all and give them all a home. She’d die before she’d ever lose any of them. The boys learned that the hard way when Yoori had lost one of her many Rilakkuma dolls while on tour. She had gone into hysterics, and to this day still mourns the lost.

“Hey, Yoori. Why don’t you show them the routine that you’ve been working on?” Harin went to the girl, placing her hands on her shoulders. She directed the next bit to the boys, “She’s really good. In all honesty, you guys could probably use it for an MV or something.” The boys looked impressed by her words.

“That would be so cool!” Yoori jumped up and down, clapping.

“Well, let’s see it,” Hongjoong told Yoori, who smiled at him.

Harin, Seonghwa, and Hongjoong found a place to sit by the far wall. Harin grabbed the remote for the stereo and pressed play once she saw that Yoori was ready.

Yoori took a deep breath, her smile replaced by the RBF she’s known to have when performing. She began her routine and soon she was lost within the music. Just like on stage, Yoori let the music guide her. Her muscles tensed as she held on, spinning as she held herself suspended in the air.

When the song ended, Yoori looked at the boys, chest rising and falling. For some reason, Yoori was nervous of what they’d say. She didn’t really care if she would ever use this skill in the future as a part of ATEEZ (Okay, she kind of did), but she was more nervous that her Oppas would think that she just wasn’t good enough. She struggled to keep up with the boys back when she had first joined the company, and the nerves that she felt then, were coming back.

“Shit, Yoo. That was amazing,” Hongjoong gaped at Yoori, Seonghwa elbowing him when he swore.

“Thank you,” Yoori said, catching her breath.

“Hongjoong’s right. That was amazing. Beautiful,” Seonghwa gushed, blushing as he realized what he was saying.

Yoori blushed too. She covered her burning cheeks with her hands, “You really liked it?”

“Of course we did, Beanie,” the leader walked up to her, going in for a hug, “I hadn’t realized how good you were at this.”

Yoori wrapped her arms around him and snuggled into his chest, “Thanks.”

“Joongie, we need to find a way to add this into an MV,” Seonghwa looked at the leader, excited.

“I’m already thinking of possible options.”

“Wait. Really?” Yoori looked up at the boys.

“Told you,” Harin said, as she walked by them, finishing her previous task of cleaning.

“I feel like Wonderland would be a perfect place to showcase this. I can already see it. I’ll talk to the company, but I’m pretty sure that it will happen,” Hongjoong smiled down at Yoori.

The girl gaped at him. She couldn’t believe that she might get the chance to try this. She squeezed Hongjoong hard.

He laughed, “Once we get the okay, do you think you could come up with a routine that would fit?”

Yoori thought for a moment. It would probably be a short one, seeing as if she's able to do this for the MV it’d be a short time. Though maybe a full routine would be better. That way they could pick what would get used.

Yoori nodded, “Yes I can. I’ll probably ask Unnie to help me though.” She turned to her instructor, “Is that okay?”

“Of course, but I’ll only step in when I see that you really need help,” Harin smiled.

“I’m so excited,” Yoori bounced.

“So are we,” Seonghwa beamed at the girl.

“Okay, well let’s go home for now, and eat something. Then I’ll talk to the company,” Hongjoong said.

“Good cause I’m starving,” Yoori said, grabbing her things.

“When are you not?” Seonghwa asked, chuckling.

“True.”

my personal introduction to vav

so i have a few friends who’ve been wanting to get into vav but dunno where to start so... i’ll just do this lil thing. obviously there’s gonna be my own opinions so don’t take everything i say to heart but like... here we go

vav (very awesome voice -- pronounced vee-ay-vee but i say vav bc im lazy) debuted in 2015, but when they debuted they had a different lineup. zehan, xiao, and gyeoul all left to pursue other activities. ziu, lou, and ayno joined the group in 2017! the fandom is called vampz because of the groups original concept but we don’t talk about that

i’m back! before i start i’d like to say i appreciate you all so much for the comments and such, even the ones who claim that tae isn’t underrated (begone thots), you motivate my procrastinating ass. you guys don’t need to thank me though i’m just doing the lord’s work. now i have things to talk about so let’s get started!

if you’re new to these posts then this part 3 of what has kind of become a series (?), where i go on rants defending taehyung and explain why he’s kind of underrated. contrary to popular belief; as you’re about to see, boi needs it.

now i’m sorry, but before everything i really want to talk about this man and his precious dog!!

RIGHT MY DUDE TAEHYUNG DIDN’T JUST GET ANY DOG, HE GOT A FOSTER. LET’S PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT. he even asked the guy how to be a good dog owner, the same guy went on to say he didn’t believe he and tae were the same species lmao.

i will never shut up about this. the popular members get hate too. honestly everyone will go on about how the hyung line members get hate (totally fair), but nobody wants to talk about the shit the maknaes have to deal with cause they’re popular. i’ve never seen someone as grossly sexualised as jimin is, i’ve seen many a horror. jk gets so much hate for having a lot of lines, as if it isn’t tiring and stressful for him. and honestly tae just can’t fucking breathe without getting berated for it. here’s a list of things he’s gotten hate for:

i’ll say this again. even though everyone thinks tae stans showing concern is twelve year olds trying to stir up drama, we have good reason to do so.

his visuals have gotten him far and this is just a fact. he must feel like his only significance in the group is being a visual. honestly when members are being acknowledged for things and it comes to him they’ll always say something like ‘thx for not being ugli lol’.

i know this is a thing in kpop i guess but it’s as if he’s just there to look pretty and...growl? and what else? oh yes! be lol so random xd. this really pisses me off cause even in old interviews namjoon would introduce him as ‘the member responsible for 4d charms’ and you’d just see his expression drop immediately.

don’t get me wrong, it’s just a fact that he’s a popular bias cause of his looks, that’s just the way it is and i know it. we as people sub-consciously show bias towards people we find attractive in everyday situations. i’m pretty sure if he weren’t so stunning some people would probably bash him for his ‘alien behaviour’ rather than be like ‘oh ahaha tae-oppa is so cute l o l xd’ or some other cringy shit.

anyway, he has a lot of fans because of his appearance, who probably think they’re the biggest stan just cause they’ve heard stigma like four times. maybe they watch some ‘taehyung extra compilations’ now and then, but they don’t actually know shit about him andng;sd’#;l#fdfd

for those that don’t know, he had originally accompanied a friend to the auditions and had no plans to audition himself. he was spotted by an employee who told him he had to audition because he was so good-looking. his looks definitely got him where he is, i imagine it makes him feel like his only significant feature is the fact that he’s pretty. a lot of people have nothing good to say about him not regarding his looks/behavior.

if you get really deep into it, i think he feels like his visuals are the only reason he’s loved by fans at all. although he doesn’t do it anymore, i’m pretty sure he used to exaggerate his attitude so that people would like him. i know this feeling all too well myself and while i obviously can’t pin point what’s going on in that pretty lil head of his, i think i’ve got an idea. you’re really just ‘weird’ and you try to pass it off as quirky then you’re like ‘oh you like this?’ so you keep acting that way, afraid you’ll stop being interesting. it was brought to my attention that people are actually dropping him cause he’s become more quiet recently :(.

can i ask why? when taehyung is so beautiful inside and out, he’s definitely got flaws we all do, but while he isn’t perfect there’s just something so unique about him. he’s so clever sometimes yet he can have those dumb moments like forgetting what year it is, he seems like he’s just a cutie yet he’s so mysterious and vague. he’s this beautiful mess of self-contradictions and i love him for it, my favourite art hoe. i found a tae personality-analysis here on tumblr and it was an enjoyable read, op says they had a hard time with his mysterious ass haha

now let’s talk about tae being a golden maknae (hear me out!)

hmm i didn’t know that he auditioned as a rapper. [some of the members really came in with little to no experience in their field though, isn’t that impressive?] yeah that’s true, like i’ve said this before but tae is a golden maknae, he can rap okay? it only sounds weird cause we’re not used to it. even in the table room skit they did that freestyle rap and tae was really good, i’ve read that yoongi himself was really impressed with him!!

a/n: requested by anon! i chose daniel because he seems like he fits this and also pls imagine him in that outfit he wore during the fight scene in beautiful mv! this is female reader x daniel btw! warning: abusive scenes, fighting and swearings

also!!!! this was a tough one so i asked for help from @playfuldisaster and got some ideas! (thank you chris hehehe p/s she’s a writer toooo so check her works out)

you’re part of a group which is like a female gang, but towards the good side

your group and you are against abusive relationships and so you help girls who has abusive relationships

you’ve never been through abusive relationships nor have you ever been into relationships, because you had witnessed that relationship with your own eyes

your mother had been abused by your father frequently and you hated whenever your mother was in pain and hurt, and that was when you told yourself to never learn about man and love

and slowly you found yourself getting distant with men, now more focusing on helping the girls away from them, and in the end, the fears of even just thinking about loving a man grow onto you

it’s 10pm when you’ve decided to go home after your usual meeting with your gang and you’re walking at the alley where you often go through

and you’re about to plug in your headphones when you suddenly hear a female’s voice screaming and your instinct just makes it to the voice

and you witness a male hitting the female roughly, dragging her hair violently and your anger boils, as your hand turns into fists

and you’re running to the scene, ready for whatever punches or anything the male could do to you, but you didn’t care because you want to help the female so badly

your feet stops, and your lips are about to shout, before you see another figure approaching the male quickly, pulling the male away from the helpless female

“what the fuck--” the male hiss, seeing another male in front of him, and receives a tough punch across his face

your eyes follow along the new guy in the scene, giving more punches, and the bad guy returns punches back

the two guys fight further, and your feet just remains still because somehow it made you scared

the bad guy falls onto the ground, and the good guy gives a more few kicks, “why the fuck would you punch a female?”

the female quickly hides behind the good guy, as his arm covers her protectively, “you should never do that to them” he says once more, kicking the guy’s legs

before you could react, you hear the police siren nearby, and footsteps come appearing from behind and pass by you

the polices drag them both away, with the female tearing up because of everything happening, as the polices handcuffed the two males

“did you see anything?” one of the polices ask you, and you’re quite nervous because you’ve never encounter these publicly before

you slowly nod after you see the good guy being sent into the police car, and your anger fists relaxes, “yes, i did”

the police looks at you, “i suggest you to come with us as an eye witness then”

the atmosphere in the police station is intense, the female looking traumatized, the bad guy having bruises on his face and arms, and with the good guy that looks like he’s about to kill that guy

“so, your name is kang daniel?” the police directs it to the good guy, “you’re the one who punched him, am i correct?”

you take his name into your head, hearing the conversation a little further from the ones involved

“he punched me here, and even here!” the bad guy exclaims, “he needs to get the punishment”

your eyebrows furrow angrily, as you couldn’t believe the guy is actually acting like the victim

your eyes shift back to daniel who sits silently but his hands are gripping onto the chair tightly and you knew he has the same anger as you

“may i say something?” you ask suddenly, making all of them look at you and daniel raises his eyebrow, waiting for whatever you’re going to say

“i saw everything. he,” you point to the bad guy, “had abusively attack the female,” you continue and points at daniel, “and he came to save her”

“are you telling the truth?” the police looks at you, but they didn’t seem to be wary on you and you nod confidently

the traumatized female looks up, as she finally speaks about the bad guy, “he’s the one who hit me first”

the bad guy was about to retort back but the polices quickly handcuffs him, bringing him away from them

you sigh deeply as you finally relax, knowing the situation is solved before you hear a voice beside you

“thank you for helping us” the police who dealt with the situation says, smiling, “and thank you for your time in setting up a group to protect and save girls” they say warmly before leaving you feeling proud over your doings, figuring that was the reason why they believed you

“--thank you. really thank you for helping” you hear the female’s voice behind you as you turn to see her talking to daniel

daniel smiles, his hand scratches his neck, “you’re welcome? i mean i don’t think i should be thanked for.... i’m just glad that you’re safe now” he says, coincidentally makes an eye contact with you

you quickly look down, out of nervousness, as the female turns her head to look at you

“and you too,” she says, walking towards you before hugging you, “thank you so much” she tears up once more, and you pat her back, hugging her tightly, “we’re really glad that you’re fine now” you tell her, now looking back at daniel who gives you a small smile

she lets you go, wiping her tears, “i hear you have a group about saving girls from these kind of relationships?”

you nod happily, “yes, just give me your number and i’ll tell you all about it”

you and her exchange numbers, introducing herself, now as your friend, before she bids you and daniel goodbye and left to talk to the police further

you smile turn to an awkward one when you face daniel alone now, “um, do you want to come to my house? i can treat your bruises”

daniel’s eyes widen, shaking his head, “thanks but it’s okay, i’ll be fine” he explains, gaining a frown across your face

“i’m really fine” he reassures you, trying to not make you do much for him but he still sees you with that frown

“you still need to be treated,” you grab onto his hand, stubbornly dragging him to your house, without realizing that you did something... for the first time ever

“sit” you instruct him, leaving him to take the first aid kit you have

daniel looks around your empty house, his eyes soften when he sees you coming back to him

“uh, here” you give him ointment, suddenly feeling stiff when you’re about to dab it onto his bruises

daniel sees it, before he takes it away for you gently, as his hand makes sure he doesn’t touches you, “it’s okay, i can do it myself” he says, smiling warmly, “you should take a rest”

you turn quiet, your heart beat fasten when you finally realize daniel is the first guy to come over your house and yet you didn’t feel any slight disturbance over it

“so, you’re y/n, right?”

your head abruptly look at him, as he chuckles, “i heard a lot about you” he says, his smile turns broader like as if he’s happy that’s he’s talking to you

which he is, by the way

“i actually look up to you, against abusive relationships? i’m against it too”

you smile, feeling the warmth from him, “i don’t like when people do it... that’s why i was about to fight the guy just now” you explain to him

“and i came there first” daniel says, making you laugh a little, “i actually saw you and when you’re about to go to them, i--” he stops, looking at you deeply, before his lips start to moves again, “i didn’t want you to get hurt”

your heart pounds harder because of daniel again, and the thought of him caring about you even before you know him makes you feel something new-- those happy tingling feelings you never expected to feel

“i’m really glad that i was there” he continues, his eyes look down to see his hands, “just thinking about what could happen to you makes me feel upset”

“i would be fine, daniel... i’m actually pretty tough” you say, trying to avoid your sudden feeling for him

“i know... i’m just worried, for you”

another wave of butterflies goes in you, as your face becomes warm, “but you don’t know who i actually am”

daniel smiles, “yeah... i’d like to get to know you though, if you would let me”

you stare at him longer, your mind wanders about him, the truth about kang daniel is that he isn’t like any other guys and you could feel the sincerity he has

the way he saved the female, the way he carefully not touching you and the way he looks at you, gives you the reason to trust him

but you still have your fears, and daniel notices them, “if you don’t want to, it’s fine--”

“no”

“no?” daniel turns confuse, as he sees you taking a deep breath

“i’d like to get to know you too” your lips slowly form a shy smile

daniel’s expression softens, and pure happiness spreads onto his face, “we can go slowly”

you nod, taking note that daniel is considerate too and it adds to the list of reason why he is melting you over his actions

“also,” your thoughts get interrupted by daniel’s voice as you focus at him again

“thank you for treating me” he says, “and taking me to your house for it” he continues, chuckling

you let out an awkward laugh, when he actually noticed your unusual act because he is still a guy

“i was surprised when you grabbed my arm just now too” he says, his head tilting a little like he’s waiting for you to explain

you look down, biting your lips, as your cheeks blush thinking about it, “i was just--”

you halt for a moment, looking back at him with your smile plaster on your face now, “i was worried for you” you tell him, remembering that he was worried for you too

and daniel just smiles along, knowing that he has already fallen for you

“i guess we both are the same, huh?”

“i guess so too...”

“then can i make you feel the same way as i do?” daniel asks

“feel what?”

“love”

and it seems like the time stops moving when you both are looking at each other so deeply, before you say yes to him

My thoughts & questions on Jimin’s role

Warning: It’s not really an answer or a full completed theory it’s just a butt load of questions and a run down on his role. An open discussion. Okay. Imma have to talk about Jimin’s part. I’ve seen quite a few theories about this, but it’s not as huge as Tae and Jin’s. Which is okay! I get it. Buuuut I need to know what’s the deal about Jimin’s role in all of this! I’m going to ramble like a lunatic. Feel free to ignore or add in your input!

What's the deal with Jimin’s part? Surprisingly, his role is the only one that really catches my attention and it’s not because he’s my bias I swear. It’s the most intriguing. A whole mystery on it’s own like Jin’s.

We all know from the very beginning in “I NEED U” he’s in a bathtub attempting suicide by drowning. He’s in utter agony. He’s also burning a picture or something. The scene cuts back to them having a good time and others struggling? Is he thinking of them? Is this the beginning of his parallel. A look inside his mind?

just saying if i ever have to witness that torturous face every again ill throw myself in a dark hole. so fucking heart breaking even if its acting.

In their MV “RUN” it shows Jimin having fun. That’s it. The only other time you see his dark role is when he’s in the mental ward with Jhope getting slapped by Jhope’s pillow. At the very end he’s burning a picture of them just like the scene in “I NEED U” What’s up with him in bathtubs and burning things? Is he getting rid of the good memories because he’s about to take his life?

Then we get “Lie” We’re now back in the Mental Ward. Lie is a deep song that talks about depression; its clear we see he’s struggling. It may also deal with the good and evil. “Find back the pure me” “bring me out from this hell” “Please stop me, please guide me, please let me breathe” “I’m trapped inside myself and I’m dead.” What if….from here everything is an illusion other than he’s in a Mental Hospital? He’s mentally ill. Locked away from his friends. He dreams of having fun with them again? In “Euphoria" there’s a lot of back and forth. It shows him running with his friends out of the mental ward but then it shows him alone running to the door but not leaving? I’ll come back to this.

In YOUNG FOREVER, we still don’t see much of Jimin other than he’s wet when trying to escape the gates. Indicating he was in the bathtub I guess.

In “Blood, Sweat and Tears” He’s given a blindfold. Blinding him from the truth, perhaps? In the Japanese Ver, Suga covers his eyes after seeing his double. Again, could it be a parallel of himself? The good and bad? Don’t forget he took a bit of an apple! Letting him have the knowledge of good and evil. He’s running from Suga, because he may not want to accept something? Like the truth?

In SPRING DAY. JIMIN IS STILL ALONE. Lol. Other than being with his friends. His role is still aLoNe. Every member’s role in this MV is them being alone, but Jimin’s role sticks out because he’s the one holding the shoes. Could the shoes be a meaning that he’s still in reality while the others are...dead? Probably not. Isn’t Spring Day about missing someone though? *shrugs* And of course we have the party shot that resembles the party scene in Euphoria. (Spring day could have nothing to do with this but who knows lol)

In SERENDIPITY...what if this MV is showing his denial? He wants to be happy. He doesn’t want reality to come back. Of course all good things must come to an end and that’s why his room shakes in the end? I always thought the room he sat in was his mental ward due to it being all white….but I could totally be 110% wrong on that lmfao.

Then we have the recent MV….EUPHORIA. (btw did you guys see that creepy ass glitch with Jhope and Jimin? chills.) Anyways, it starts off with Jimin behind Jhope. It looks like Jhope wants to leave, but Jimin doesn’t want to let him go. He looks so sad to lose him or maybe he’s warning Jhope? We all know Jhope leaves anyways. In the next Jimin clip, we see them running towards the door after having a Birthday Party for Jimin(he’s the only one with a hat so I assumed it’s his). The scene switches to Jimin running alone towards the door. With his friends he’s able to get out, but alone he doesn’t leave. Later on in the MV it shows Jimin hopping around the empty mental ward and sitting alone looking towards the door waiting for someone. Remember, it’s switching from them having his birthday party. So is this all an illusion? Is he in denial that he’s in a mental ward?

Through all of this Jimin remains alone. No one saves him from the bathtub like Jungkook saves Suga, Jin saves RM and Jhope saving Tae. Yeah he’s paired with Jhope but he ends up leaving Jimin at the end. So who’s there for Jimin? Who does he have besides the alternative universe when they’re all happy and enjoying themselves? Maybe the other 6 couldn’t save themselves and Jimin refuses that fact? After he attempts to kill himself his mind became so corrupt that he forced himself to believe they’re still alive and doing well that’s why he’s waiting for them in Euphoria? That’s why he is mentally ill? That’s why he’s in a “lie”? Everyone talks about Euphoria’s meaning that it’s being in state of happiness, but it could also have a dark side to it. It’s a sort of high people get when they take drugs. It can be linked to mental illness as well. What if Euphoria is just an illusion of Jimin’s? He’s in such a high he dreams of everyone being saved and being happy…..It doesn’t explain Jin’s situation though...so I don’t know. Just throwing it out there. So...there’s that. My ramble of crazy theories on Jimin’s role. It’s not exactly an answer just waterfall of questions and opinions of what I think. Maybe, someone can take it and dig deeper to get an answer? Hopefully, they’ll make a lot more sense than I did. Lmao

I’m probably just overreacting and making his role bigger than what it seems. Perhaps, it is just a small role....but it’s still weird how no one is really paying attention to Jimin during the darker moments? He’s alone when he’s hurt. No one saves him. The only time he’s not alone is when he’s in his happy state. When they’re all having fun. Why is that?

Probably because he has no jams. Poor jimin. lmfao . I heard from different sources that the next album will be covering darker topics so hopefully we see more of Jimin and it explains his situation a bit more. I don’t want this to be Jimin centre because there’s still TOOONSS of questions about the other members. I just need answers for Jimin the most ; w;

Dreaming of hope ◕

How can a dream turn to hope? How does a hope form? A journey that comes with fight, death and to lose something in order to find something:

I was watching The Snowpiercer movie, the one that got mentioned in Spring Day, and at the very end I had this sudden thoughts what slowly but surely evolved. What if the rock at the end of ‘ON’ MV represents the hope they have for the future and a dream is actually their will to make a change. A change that would involve more insight to the album making process. Or a way of doing things, like a ‘self-made’ album. When a hero’s journey is complete, one is changed.Why can’t it be possible, that BTS’s new dream, is actually a hope and their power is the change what comes from a wish for different future. A better, more self aware future.

A dream is a way how our unconscious communicate with our conscious. When we relax ‘a hole opens up on a wall’ and a thought can arise. This state can be reached the best while we sleeping/dreaming. But with practice,it can be reached via meditation, too. Daydreaming. Once a though formed in our dreams, it can evolve to a hope. A hope that fuels one’s believes.

Let me connect and break it down;

!!DISCLAMER!! I did NOT intended to mock or disregard any believes or views of anyone! These are strongly my subjective point of views and did not tend to harm anything or anyone!

‘ON’ MV is filled with many religious symbols and references. At this point I have to mention that symbols are depends on the content and one can have many meanings. But how does ‘ON’ leads us to the hope of a new ‘world’?

At the very beginning we can see a battlefield. The same battlefield that can represent our ‘war’ with the outer and the inner world. At both place we have to face with difficulties, and sometimes we lose and sometimes we win, but ‘where is hope, there is hardship¹’ and until one trust itself ‘Even if my knee drops to the ground, as long as they don’t get buried, it won’t matter²’ The white dove pierced by the arrow is a symbol how an impact from the outer world can affect our believes and hopes. It can die if we let it, but it can also live.

A white dove was the bird Noah sent from the ark in HOPE that it will find land. We can look at it as; The ark was the inner world and Noah lead its people and the animals to the outer world, apart from saving them from drowning. We can also see this scheme in the movie The Snowpiercer where the train is the inner world and the cold snow covered Earth is the outer world.

Sometimes one can break out from it’s own world, but to be 100% free, it needs to be ‘destroyed’, or we can say; the point of views that made us believe in that world need to be changed, and that change can only be reached by an awaking. ‘The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world.³’ The thorn chain around Jungkook’s hand symbolises the connection to the old believes. As we seen it in ‘Black Swan’ too, you need to ‘die’ in order to reborn. Jungkook running around in the forest, getting lost and finally collapsing is a representation of how one can lost its path while searching or its own self. And that ‘lost’ feeling is the death.

The only thing that can give us a new life, a rebirth, is hope. Once we lost, and need a direction in life, the best that one can do, is to take a deep dive in it’s inner lake to find the ‘my way’ to a new dream/hope. ‘Therefore the way of the soul in search of its lost father, leads to the water, to the dark mirror that reposes at its bottom. "..." this water is no figure of speech, but a living symbol of the dark psyche.⁴‘ It is also necessary to fall before you can rise. This falling is kind of a journey in one’s unconscious and back.

↑ This scene represents this journey to his shadow. He ‘returns’ with a ‘shell horn’ and his hands are free from the thorn chain, too. Alias his world changed. He no longer a prisoner but someone with a hope and willpower. Or we can say with a dream. The horn is used to awake other peoples.

Lets bring back the VCR from Wings tour final where it was mentioned; ‘Being afraid is another name for hope’ And now a lyrics from ON, Joon’s part; ‘Of course I’m not unafraid’ He raps his part in front of a broken ark, just like Noah, as of representing and empathising the leader position. Later on he is the one who leads the boys into the new world.

To going back to the white dove; once they arriving to the gates of a new world Jin sets a ‘hope’ free. The birds flies in in and we see a dance break that shows them on top a mountain. This mountain is the symbol of self-knowledge. The reason why is it Jungkook who holds the shell and ‘assemble’ the boys is because he is the one who took the trip to the forest and the lake. Once the’ritual’ is over Jungkook joins them at the gate and they enter all together. Seven white doves represents the seven boy and their hope and wish for a change.

In conclusion the whole song, completed with the music video, is a representation of a journey of one’s awaking and finding it’s hope and believes of a new, changed world.

CNU MEGAPOST

Yes, I finally got around to reposting it in all it’s humble glory~! ✨✨

To give a quick backstory for those who did not see the original, I received an ask about a year ago asking why CNU was my ultimate bias (and to explain it in detail). Of course, me being the wordy person I am (In addition to how much I actually do just adore the bear), I wrote an extremely long-winded response.

Unfortunately since I deleted my blog a few months after posting, my CNU Megapost got lost along with it. So! Under the cut is my original answer to why exactly I love CNU~ (anything italics represents new notes, the rest is unchanged! Besides a few new gifs)

Original introduction:

ahh this sounds like an exam question! haha I must admit, I had this finished a few days ago. But, what better day to post this than on CNU’s Birthday? So, Happy Birthday Shinwoo! This is better than any sappy gif set I could make anyways!

Reading my tags, I’m sure you can see that I am quite verbose at times. So I certainly can give you a very detailed explanation of why I adore CNU... which I’ll put under a cut for obvious length reasons.

So I tried to think of the best way to go about this and keep it organized. I have some main points that I then went further into detail describing, and listed them in what I guess we can say is least important to most important.

First off, as I’m sure many would say about their bias, I obviously find him attractive. To be honest, it didn’t start out this way. The first time I saw B1A4, it was stumbling upon their ‘Beautiful Target’ MV they had released just a few weeks prior at the time, and CNU looked like this:

(didn’t I screenshot such a nice moment?) Ok, in his defense none of them looked spectacular, although they all did look super adorable. I didn’t have a bias right away, but I did quickly fall for the group themselves. It didn’t take too long before CNU’s more gentle appearance got to me though. I loved his sweet eye smile, and how he had non-standard idol features, like his round nose and bunny teeth, his glasses and funky hairdos.

I’ll link some other beautiful photos of younger CNU --> (x)(x)(x)(x) Also, he looked almost pretty enough to be a girl at times:

UGH that was a look. Anyways, as he matured, despite loosing the quirky hairdos, opting to not wear glasses as often, and shaving down his bunny teeth (took some time but I did eventually get over Baro and him doing it lol), I found him to become even more attractive. He filled out and became this mega broad-shouldered man capable of giving me pseudo heart palpations. ok! Wow, first bullet point done!

As a next point, I love the way that CNU treats his fans in such a manner of adoration. All of the boys have their own manner of acknowledging the fans. We all know Gongchan has his insane fan service: Jinyoung writes songs and tries to include BANA in their projects, Sandeul and Baro like to play off each other to entertain them... but CNU’s actions are a little more understated. In the beginning, it was a running joke that CNU was even too embarrassed to say he loved the fans. He was a very shy bear when they debuted. Even so, you can tell in the conversations and responses he had with the fans, even back in the beginning, how much he cared about them, giving them advice and wanting them to do and be the best that they could be. It’s something he continues to do still, even though luckily for us he’s overcome his fear of the ‘L’ word. Instead of just telling the fans that from the beginning, he waited until he was comfortable with it, when we knew it was sincere. In his posts, he trusts the fans by giving them updates on how he is, even when the news is sad. He continues to give his advice, and presents it in such a way that we know that we’re not going through it alone-- he has his down days, his doubts and his own anxieties, just like everyone else. But his encouragement to always push forward is something I admire so greatly in him. He always remembers to drop by, even just to say hi. And he always reminds us that we help him, just as much as he (tw: suicide mention in the following ‘helps’ link-->) helps us. While his responses may be simple at times, they are heartfelt, and even through his interactions and gaze you can truly see how much he cares.

Some other CNU w/fans/fan letter pics --> (x)(x)(x)(x) Note the beautiful smile in each one. In other words, CNU doesn’t cover up who he is for the fan’s sake. He trusts us enough to be honest with what he is going through (although this took some time for him to work up to, which I’ll be getting to later), and is genuinely interested in how our well being is. To me, the fact that he isn’t over the top, instead opting to have more mundane, normal conservations through twitter or the fancafes demonstrates a sincerity that is hard to come by, especially with people you don’t know. But for CNU, if you’re a BANA, than you are part of this intimate circle. You can feel his appreciation of your support.

Now to get into the more detailed points. (The first two were child’s play compared to these next two 😌 ) I love CNU’s relationships with his fellow members. They are the people he has been with since he was in high school. Who he began with, in a nondescript building where they had only a few rooms to train in. He spent sleepless nights with them, worrying if they were good enough to debut, if they even had a chance to make it. Even before they deputed, there was already so much they had been through together, stories that they shared in their small dorm. In such a cramped space, you have little choice but to express your emotions with each other; And B1A4 made it a promise amongst themselves, since the beginning, that they would be open and talk with each other. Alright, so I admit I’m getting off track here, since this is about my CNU thirst and not about pre-debut B1A4. But I think there needs to be a little background set-up to better understand where I’m going with this. The basis of the members’ relationships was set up from these beginnings, and gradually evolved into the deep brotherhood they have today.

With Gongchan, CNU had certainly felt the need to step in and fill the older brother role. Though Gongchan was an older sibling himself, with the members even admitting his maturity, that wouldn’t stop CNU from being a protector. He felt the need to correct Gongchan, and while of course coming from a good place, it was something that Gongchan didn’t come to understand and appreciate until much later. Maybe because of this, Gongchan was said to be awkward around CNU (although I personally don’t really believe this, I think that they are both just the type to be comfortable with silence. Besides, there’s still plenty of moments from the early days where they were caught goofing with each other! )

My favorite thing about the Shinchan relationship is that CNU respects Gongchan, and has acknowledged that as Gongchan got older, he was no longer the same minor that needed direction at every turn. I think CNU and Gongchan make a nice pair, with CNU able to have moments of seriousness with him, but also being able to let down his guard and have some fun himself.

CNU’s relationship with Baro I think is an interesting one-- Shinro, or as I and some other’s like to call it, 2woo (cause who wouldn’t want two woo’s for the price of 1, ha ). Similar to Gongchan, CNU acted more as a guardian to Baro in the beginning than a fellow teammate. Baro himself has admitted that he got into trouble pre-debut (only some white lies and skipped practices, remember we’re talking about the living, breathing, walking, angels B1A4), which lead to CNU stepping in to help get him back on track. It wasn’t all scolding however; CNU took his place as guardian in a more emotional way when Baro thought he would be alone at his graduation. Showing up there with Jinyoung cemented his place as a support system that was deeper than being just teammates. What adds an interesting layer to their relationship is their liking for similar r&b and hip-hop music/style, something the other members don’t really share. Out of this, comes the true 2woo brotp pureness-- seen in the beautiful selcas here:

And has never gone away. Of course it’s not all swagness, with them having their cute moments as well. But while Gongchan brings out a pure, maternal side to our bear, Baro brings out his hidden Usher. It is more of a brotherhood dynamic, with less cute skinship and more of the sibling roughness (not necessarily physical roughness) many of us can relate to.

Compared to the other two, I don’t think Sandeul was quite as dependent on CNU to steer him. Despite the quirky, loud duck we tend to see on programs, Sandeul has always seemed to have a pretty good head on his shoulders. What Sandeul does bring out in CNU, however, is his own inner child and playfulness. There’s a comfort to their relationship, that was always apparent from day one. I’d think a lot of people would argue, just by glancing at the dynamics of the group over the years, that CNU and Sandeul are the closest (and looks like I still stand by this!). And while I’m not sure if that’s true necessarily, they definitely are physically the closest, with CNU having an ease with touching and playing around with him. A lot of times, I think CNU relies on physically teasing Sandeul to help ease any tension he may be feeling, or to try and generate a laugh. They play off each other quite well. And while there may be a few moments where I’m even internally screaming for CNU to leave our poor duck alone for 10 minutes, Sandeul never seems to mind, and I think this is because he knows CNU’s motives aren’t tainted. Once and a while, Sandeul even gets the chance to get his small revenges on CNU. (and I live for those moments. Especially when he gets back at Baro too.)

Too cute. Like I had mentioned, despite CNU’s nagging and occasional torments, their relationship is extremely close, because CNU respects Sandeul for the large and important role that he plays in the group. He is the main vocal, and when it comes to his singing, CNU is always one to compliment Sandeul, mentioning how cool he appears singing. CNU went to Sandeul for advice when it was his turn to take a stab at musicals, knowing that Sandeul has had more experience than he has. It is this yin and yang, the lighted hearted jokes with the deep mutual respect, that really allows CNU and Sandeul to be so close to each other.

Ah, down to the final member. Jinyoung and CNU, my otp *screams ‘shinyoung' from the rooftops* And of course, since they’re my otp, the laws of the universe say that they must interact the least with each other compared to all the other members. But, that doesn’t mean they aren’t close. Pre-debut, I think CNU and Jinyoung spent the most amount of time together out of all the members. Being the same age, it was natural for them to become close. Once they graduated from high school, they even went to Japan together, a trip with just the two of them. From their first impressions of one another, they began to rely on each other a lot. With Jinyoung taking the more ‘father’ role of the group and cnu falling into place as the ‘mom’, it was just natural for them to develop an easy way of communication as the ‘parents’ that didn’t need to involve the bold displays of affection like that seen with CNU and the younger members. The members themselves know of the lack of physical affection between the two eldest, and much of the skinship/moments we do see with them is generally due to the younger three initiating it or ganging up on the two grandpas, leading to wonderfully cute, awkward moments. (It seems the others are just as big of Shinyoung supporters as I am! lol) The Nico Nico Japan program also seems to feed off of forcing the duo into great situations as well. The moments shared between the two when not harassed by the members are generally much simpler, but endearing all the same. I think there’s a slight trepidation to show how much fun they do have together, but they provide some of the funniest moments that bipo as to offer. There’s a humor between the two, that unfortunately seems to get overshadowed by the louder pairs. But there’s also a tenderness to it as well— CNU isn’t afraid to cling onto Jinyoung during times of weakness, and Jinyoung isn’t afraid to lose it with his crush-like giggles over the stupid things CNU jokes about, or have CNU help him when he gets lost. (honestly though, half the time it isn’t even remotely funny but hey, CNU has seemed to found Jinyoung’s sense of humor) Bottom line is that the Shinyoung relationship is one built on an extreme amount of respect, and even a slight dependence, on one another. It is understated, but complex, seen only truly in the small shared moments versus the forced comicalness.

This last point was the most difficult, and took me the longest to write. How can I begin to explain what I really love about CNU? That every little component that makes him up, I find to be so perfectly wonderful? I admit that I’m being quite sappy, but for the most part, it is true. Going back to what I first said at the beginning of this post, my first impression of CNU and the rest of the boys was that they just seemed like goofy, happy guys around the same age as me, dressed in silly outfits. They radiated positivity and a genuine warmth that immediately got me hooked. With CNU, he was very quiet for the most part during those early years. In reality, he’s still not a talker now, but in comparison he was really quiet back then lol. I think what stood out to me was that he always seemed to be both a step behind, and a step ahead, but never fully immersed in the present. What I mean is, he always seemed to be thinking of what was just said, turning it over in his mind, while thinking of how to react with what was said or done. And by the time he thought of what he considered the appropriate reaction, the moment would have passed anyway. Not only mentally, but for physical reactions as well, he is always thinking about the action fully before planning his own move. It wasn’t before long that the joke came about of him being slow, like a bear. And while the members themselves have admitted from time to time that in actuality, CNU can be quite fast if he needs to, I think it stems from all this internal thinking and contemplation constantly going through his mind. His outward appearance may look and be slow, but internally, I think his mind is constantly churning ideas. Specifically, what drew me in, is that I can relate to this very much myself. Now, I’m not physically slow like CNU may be half the time, but mentally, I do find myself going over what people say, thinking why they may have said it, what motivations they may have (not necessarily bad motivations either— this could be with my family and friends too, much like CNU with his members). But, for the most part, I used to do this when I would find myself being unsure, or in uncertain situations where I would feel a little uncomfortable. This got me to thinking, is that why CNU is like this? And in my opinion, I would say yes. In the beginning, I think CNU was very unsure of himself. Unsure of how he should act, unsure of how he should react, unsure of how he looked, unsure of what others thought of him, unsure if he was even cut out to be an idol. So I think relating to him in this way made him seem so human to me. I feel like when idols first debut they always seem to cute and shiny and new. But having an idol like him that I could see some doubts with, I was just stunned. He’s a very internal person, and I think he was so shy early on, like with doing aegyo, or telling the fans he loved them, because it was something out of his comfort zone, and because of that, he had a fear of messing up. And if he messed up, he was in turn afraid it would get negative reactions out of watchers or even fans. I had already mentioned how much CNU cares about his fans, but bringing it back to him personally, I think there’s one incident that really sums all this up. Basically, he forgot a fan’s letter in the dressing room, and later, someone discovered that it was thrown in the trash (probably by a janitor or other staff). But in his long winded apology he goes on about even mentioned that he knows this fan because of the type of paper design they use, shows not only his care, but also this fear I had mentioned that people might judge him, especially over an accident that was not his fault. Again, this is something I can relate to, as I’m sure many of us can. We want people to like us, but the fact that it’s really out of our control is scary. We can try as hard as we can, but with one wrong move (especially in the idol business) it can all go out the window. Another moment demonstrating this mentality of his was when B1A4 finally (finally!!) had their first win with What’s Happening.

(Ahh I still get goosebumps watching it!!) But really, look at his reaction. All of them I think had the thought of ‘Yes! We Made It!’ Gongchan’s getting emotional, Sandeul’s hiding in the back, Baro starts to cry and the end, Jinyoung’s barely holding it together… but CNU is literally sobbing, breaking down, on stage. This is one of the first times he can’t control what everyone sees, and it’s ironic because the main reason he is breaking down is because he’s probably thinking that yes, after all this time, they do like us, they do accept me. After so many years of being unsure of himself, and being our introspective bear, thinking too much about how he should act, here’s a moment when he finally lets it go. It’s been so great seeing him grow, and in a sense, mature, out of this state. With their last comeback (last comeback means ‘Sweet Girl’ based upon when I initially wrote this), he let his emotions flow freely; Going to their most recent Private Life ep, we can see him being silly and doing crazy dances with Jinyoung, singing the ‘Pick Me’ song. (I had linked it above in the Jinyoung section lol). I think a lot of Banas who have been following bipo for some time would agree with me that, what we saw in that video, would never have happened with debut—2013 CNU. Sure, he did silly things and had cute moments, but it was generally with the members always there, especially Sandeul or Baro, acting as his barrier or cushion. But that’s an example of him just letting go. It’s funny, because over the years as he became more comfortable with himself, I did too; so we grew together in that sense.

CNU has mentioned mutliple times that being a singer, being able to perform on stage, was a dream of his. His mother being a singer (as far as we know, actually compared to the rest of the members I feel like we know very little about his family), and even being in a band with his friends in high school, it was clear this was a passion of his. He didn't let prior failed auditions stop him, as he continued to perform on stage. And by a stroke of luck, a WM rep fell in love with the aura and smile that CNU gave off, and smartly recruited him. (Thank goodness! lol) He started with small steps, focusing on being the ‘best dancer’ of the group, kind of being the jack of all trades. Not as good as Sandeul in singing, not as good as Baro in rapping, but adequate enough to fill either role when needed. He started helping writing lyrics, like working with Baro on their early title track ‘Beautiful Target’, before eventually composing his own hella smooth jams (with some questionable lyrics 😏). He has improved so much, but the great thing is that he wants to continue to improve. He was one of the first in the group to get an acting job, but was smart and knew at the time that it probably wasn’t the right move for him— he wasn’t ready, or skilled enough. But now, he’s out starring in musicals. It was confirmed last Fall (fall of 2015) that he was suffering with a knee injury, but was postponing any treatment because he wanted to stick through their promotions, to finish on stage with his members and fans. However, he has suffered with knee problems for quite some time (It might be a good idea to warn people about the video I’m about to link —> x <— it may make some uncomfortable to watch if you don’t like seeing people in discomfort). But the point is, he persevered through it all; through the chronic pain, through the tryouts and auditions, through the years as rookies, until being able to stand on stage, with his members or on his own, singing and dancing to songs he composed and wrote. I really admire this kind of tenacity in him.

This last paragraph (haha yes, we’re almost done!!) is going to be more of a list almost, random things that I’m going to type as they come to me, that I think adds to his character, and why I love him. I previously called him an introspective bear, and I think that first word is a really good descriptor of him. (well both of them are really, he's always been the bear!) Going through and listing the synonyms for that word, they all fall into place to describe him: introvert, self-analyzing, thoughtful, meditative, all words that fit him. He’s a nurturer: he takes care of the members, making sure to do something as simple as checking to make sure all the lights were turned off and being the last one to do a quick check that no one forgot anything when they still lived together. He gets comfort from physical contact with the members, and gets sad when he wakes up to find they left to go eat without him. He was so protective of baby Eunsol and Hyunwoo on Hello Baby, demonstrating his patience and care.

It was also on another reality show, Sesame Player (which IMO is still the top reality they’ve had) that the infamous (or at least in the Bana fandom) cupcake incident occurred. It’s mostly a funny moment, but basically cnu bakes a half plain, half chocolate cupcake representing the unity of North and South Korea. Like I said, it’s a little silly, but when you think about it, what 21 year old actually thinks of something that deep when making cupcakes? Our introspective bear, of course! It’s these little glimpses to me that are most prominent; but rarely are they specifically about him. I had mentioned earlier that we know very little about CNU’s family; and in one of the most raw, personal stories that we ever heard from him, he opened up and talked about his father’s alcoholism, and the effects it had on him and his sister growing up. All in all, he was still fairy tight-lipped about this, so we don’t know what happened for sure except for what he’s actually told us. But, I just get the feeling that CNU didn’t have all of the… ‘resources’ growing up (I’m sorry I can’t think of the right word there 😣 hopefully what I’m saying makes sense) compared to say, Jinyoung for example. And the fact that he grew into such a warm, thoughtful and caring young man, makes me wonder if he’s trying to make up for what he *maybe* lacked; but it’s also so telling of the wonderful person he is through and through. On the other hand though, he obviously loves his mother very much, as he always mentions his ideal type would be someone caring like his mother. And again, maybe this want for a more motherly, caring gf tells us something as well. Either way, I think CNU is in a great place now, surrounded by his friends and the people he cares most about. He’s doing what he loves, and he knows he has the fans love and support which in the end, is what he thrives on, what keeps him going. I’m very proud of him.

As I conclude this… “gospel of CNU” lol, there’s just a few more remarks I want to make. First, I want to apologize, because although I would normally consider myself a fairly decent writer, this was a lot more difficult that I expected. I feel like I’m a little all over the place; and although it’s easy in my mind to think of why I love CNU, it’s much more complex to actually choose the right words. Second, I’m sorry how long it took! Once I started writing it though, I just couldn’t stop adding more. In a way, I’m very happy I wrote all of this though… being a fan of the boys, with CNU as my bias, for so long, I felt like it was necessary and deserving to write something like this for him. I may rely too much on my opinions at times, or an almost ‘meta’ analysis, but I hope my points come across well. My hope is that some random person will read this, and maybe turn them into a fan of CNU, and B1A4. All five boys are so deserving of all the happiness and good fortune they can get; I love them all.

And lastly, I just want to say thanks to anyone who actually took the time to read this to the end. I, (and I’m sure CNU!) appreciate it~!!
