Today I visited the WB studios in London and it was really incredible!

I'd spent so much time wandering liberally around Hogwarts and its environs in Hogwarts Legacy and here to see the life-size sets 🥰

In the Great Hall and at Gringotts I really felt like I was in the game 😂

And the model of the castle 😍

You can tell I was happy! (What's more, I took my Ravenclaw cloak, which I made myself).

And I couldn't resist buying a new wand 🥲 At the same time, the diadem of Ravenclaw wand was too gorgeous!

a short placing heavy emphasis on Hungarian Rhapsody No. II is a rite of passage for golden age cartoons. Bugs Bunny did it! Tom and Jerry did it! Daffy and Donald! but one thing Woody Woodpecker has above the competition is that he is held hostage by a group of gangsters and is forced to entertain, lest he get executed. amazing

#fans of Mickey's Trailer will note the similarities at the beginning of the moving van stretching out the fence--that's because #this was directed by Don Patterson who animated that absolutely BIZARRE cut in Trailer #please look it up if you haven't because it is some of the best animation you will ever see. it is insane #i'm so sad i didn't know this short existed until yesterday because i love it. i love musical cartoons and the story/hook of this one #genuinely made me laugh. and Daws Butler voices the gangsters and cop!#Hungarian Rhapsody No. II... gangster is named Mugsy... it's almost a Friz Freleng short! almost #Hugh Harman did write this one though which is bizarre to me. yes that Hugh Harman who established and ran the first 3 years of the Warner #studio with Rudy Ising #(and Herman Cohen animates on this who of course was a longtime WB animator!)#i love cartoons #ww #convict concerto #patterson #vid #also i am team Rhapsody Rabbit on the RR vs Cat Concerto debate i'm sorry Tom (and Jerry)#but one short has Bugs Bunny killing a man in cold blood and the other doesn't

Honestly it's really kind of funny and important and fitting that Folie a Deux is a critical flop because it really proves the point that franchise fans are not the cash cow that the studios can really bank on for permanent and never-ending media profit because 1) they are not intellectual to put it mildly, and they make the rest of the media landscape look like shit for the rest of us because they keep putting their money into the exact thing that they're destined to hate eventually because none of the creatives involved in these things really want to fucking do this, and 2) that originality and nuance cannot exist in franchise films and when you introduce anything of the sort to a property that people have specific franchise expectations for it will not go well even if it puts a mirror to the fans and says "hey. this is you. yta. and you did NOT understand the first time because you're so entrenched in franchise films you won't even be able to conceive of anything else that goes off those rails even though it is perfectly within reason for the canon we established the first time" but if you give these babies even a LITTLE taste of their own medicine they'll throw a tantrum

#many such cases I feel like furiosa also probably fits in this vein of sequelitis as well #the more I think about it the whole metaphor of identity going throughout folie a deux is a huge part of this #arthur could never come out of the shadow of joker and the symbol he became even though fundamentally he was NEVER that exclusively #and fanboys never ever saw that. so of course they're going to be mad at any shred of a reminder that the creators involved cared about tha #more than their stupid power fantasies they attached to him #and with your help and hate YOU TOO can make studios finally stop this fucking nonsense #like we are so fatigued by it all and I don't think people even fully realize the extent of that fatigue but this movie actually kindof #validates that fatigue and says 'yeah. this shit is kindof fucked man that we have these expectations that we can't uphold sustainably'#but of course the studios will absolutely not learn from this because zaslav is a dense motherfucker who will run wb disc into the ground #anyways #joker #folie a deux
