They dated for 13 years real time, I think? Only stopped because Steph 'died'. (They were having problems at the time, but they hadn't broken up.)

Of course, throughout that period, readers were commenting on the lack of chemistry, especially on Tim's end. Steph being Tim's beard¹ was a joke I heard pretty frequently getting into the fandom in the late 2000s, especially in fic written during the early 2000s.

And, of course, I've read Tim as asexual ever since I learned what that word meant. Often using examples from his relationship with Steph to support my argument.

I'd be very supportive of the 'TimSteph' is platonic' crowd if more of them were actually saying, "Tim and Steph dating wasn't particularly romantic." But so many of them actually seem to be saying, "Tim and Steph dating DIDN'T MATTER."

Which is ridiculous! It mattered SO MUCH. To both of them! It shaped both of them! They loved each other, and maybe it was platonic (at least on Tim's end), but if it was, it was some sort of queerplatonic, committed relationship that should STILL NOT be minimized. If it was platonic, THEY didn't think it was at the time.

(I can't say much about the 'sibling coded' remarks, because I often compare my love for my husband to my love for my siblings. But I know that's weird. Being aroace means you've got to work with what you have, okay?)

I like them as exes who have become friends. I like them as struggling romantic partners who are doing their best. I like them as a messy intertwined web of connections that can't be defined.

But please don't erase their relationship and replace it with something frictionless and hollow.

And ESPECIALLY don't say "TimSteph is platonic," to PUSH ANOTHER TIM ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP!!! Because anything that is there? It's not a product of their relationship. That's stuff Tim has carried through every relationship he's had.

If your TimSteph is platonic, maybe write a Tim that's looking for platonic?

He wraps his arms around you, pulling you into his chest, your head tucked underneath his. It's not like you were really upset to begin with, but it's hard to even pretend to be, with the way he's holding you. And you happily let yourself drift back to sleep.

Ten years ago, Dong Nguyen killed a chart-topping game. After realizing it had become "an addiction" for players, his guilt became so bad that he couldn't sleep. Today, Gametech Holdings, LLC has revived this game but with *more* dark patterns, loot boxes, and predatory design. This is cool.

Looks like he *didn't*. It seems like it's been long enough that the trademark was considered abandoned, so Gametech Holdings LLC filed against him, and just. Grabbed it for free.
