"The electric eel is the biggest power-making creature on Earth. It can release up to 860 volts, which is enough to run a machine. In a recent study, a research group from Nagoya University in Japan found electric eels can release enough electricity to genetically modify small fish larvae. They published their findings in PeerJ."
The researchers' findings add to what we know about electroporation, a gene delivery technique. Electroporation uses an electric field to create temporary pores in the cell membrane. This lets molecules, like DNA or proteins, enter the target cell."
"The researchers discovered that 5% of the larvae had markers showing gene transfer. "This indicates that the discharge from the electric eel promoted gene transfer to the cells, even though eels have different shapes of pulse and unstable voltage compared to machines usually used in electroporation," said Iida. "Electric eels and other organisms that generate electricity could affect genetic modification in nature.".
Other studies have observed a similar phenomenon occurring with naturally occurring fields, such as lightning, affecting nematodes and soil bacteria. Iida is very excited about the possibilities of electric field research in living organisms. He believes these effects are beyond what conventional wisdom can understand.
He said, "I believe that attempts to discover new biological phenomena based on such 'unexpected' and 'outside-the-box' ideas will enlighten the world about the complexities of living organisms and trigger breakthroughs in the future.""

Watts, volts, amps, and ohms are all electrical units of measure. Watts (W) is a measure of power, volts (V) are a measure of potential difference or voltage, amps (A) are a measure of electric current, and ohms (Ω) are a measure of resistance. These four units are related to one another by the following equation:
P = VI = I^2R
Where P is power in watts, V is the difference in volts, I is current in amps, and R is resistance in ohms. This equation shows that watts are equal to volts times amps, or alternatively that they’re equal to the square of the current multiplied by the resistance.
In conclusion, watts, volts, amps, and ohms are all important units of measure for electricity. They tell us how much power is being generated (watts), the force behind the flow of electrons (volts), the rate at which electrons are flowing (amps), and the resistance to the flow of current (ohms).

Closed Loop Feedback Control of Feed Conveyors with Variable Frequency Drives
In this example, we are controlling the supply of material (stone) via the feed conveyor speed. This indirect control of the larger fixed speed process (stone crusher machine) will enhance the application for maximum production.
The stone is fed into the crusher by a feed conveyer, which is driven by a motor that is controlled by a variable frequency drive. The crusher has a motor that is running at fixed speed. We can monitor the input load of this fixed speed crusher motor using a simple current monitor. Depending on the input load signal, the feed conveyor speed is automatically adjusted to optimize the amount of stone entering the crusher.
The amount of stone on the feed conveyer randomly changes in quantity which causes the load on the crusher motor to vary depending on the amount of stone it receives. Using closed loop control, we can speed up the feed conveyer if the load on the crusher motor is low, or slow it down if the crusher motor load is high. Since the crusher is now running at its maximum load setting all the time, the production output is greatly increased! The integration of variable frequency drives in applications like this pays for itself in a matter of months!! Other similar applications include wood chip5 conveyors, powder manufacturing, sugar cane crushing, etc.
