Warriorvision Nun Contest 2023 planning - part 2

-- What is this? 🤔 A Eurovision song contest type event on Twitter (tbd?) culminating in a live space where we play a song for each chosen character and have the audience 'vote' on it. Planned to be the day before the new countdown timer ends. All items below are musings and suggestions are welcome ❤️ --

July 31 - Nomination day.

Make a single tweet for each participant asking for song nominations. https://twitter.com/NunVision account exists. Maybe need some minor graphics? We might have to salt the tweets to begin with a few suggestions.

August 5 - Last day for song nominations.

Result : List of songs for each character.

August 7-12 - Song voting.

Make two tweets a day, one for each character, containing either a poll of all of the songs (or a link to an external poll). Encourage people to vote for not only the 'best' song but the 'most fitting' one for the character.

August 7 - Ava Portugal / Michael Ireland August 8 - Beatrice Finland / Hans Switzerland August 9 - Camila UK / JC Germany August 10 - Yasmine France / Vincent Spain August 11 - Lilith UK / Duretti Italy August 12 - Superion Italy / Salvius the Netherlands

August 14 - The Final!

A live space (est. 90-120 minutes) where we introduce and play each of the songs. When all songs are played, we play a short recap (10 second clip of each song + the characters name) then provide a voting link. We wait … 15 minutes? - then announce the results dramatically as is tradition. -- QUESTIONS / THOUGHTS - How should we do voting in the nomination round? It is way easier and more user friendly to do a twitter poll, but do we add drama by making not revealing the result until the final show? And is that drama worth it? - How should we do voting in the final round? 12, 10, 8–1 like in the ESC? Should we have a small panel of 'experts' do a small voting round before hand to make it infuriating just like the ESC? - This is a dumb idea and I love it and I can't wait to do it. (I don't suppose you can tag users on here like yo can on twitter?)

🥢 - She wasn’t particularly fond of doing stuff like this. Sure, she’d managed to get away with it quite a few times now after the first few failed attempts, but it didn’t make it any easier on her conscience. 

She told herself that she’d get used to it over time, that she had no other choice but to disturb the sanctuary of other people’s homes. Besides, what was she supposed to do? Let her little brother starve to death? No way. She wasn’t going to lose any more siblings if she could help it.

Eyes squinted at the window in front of her, balancing the brick in her hand; one she’d picked up from the loose end of one of the buildings she’d jumped across. She’d made sure to check that all the cars were out of the parkways, hoping it’d mean everyone had gone to work or school ( the later of which she was skipping to do this ), as she threw the object into the window to shatter the glass. 

“Good.” She whispered to herself, trying to ignore any cuts she’d get from the jagged pieces of glass as she entered. “I’m gonna make this quick - just get what I need an’ get out...”

Gia lived in luxury and with the ton, having a privileged education, though her parents managed to raise her to be down-to-earth. She lived a happy childhood and never asked for anything.

Galactic Santas in July ||

It was Christmas Eve, 2006 and Rose had only just now heard on the news somethin about rogue Christmas trees. She had brushed it off earlier due to how silly it sounded to her.

Now, she didn't think so.

A slow whirring noise was picking up speed the longer she ignored it and when she went to look, her eyes quickly widened in shock. There stood a spinning christmas tree that looked more like its own indoor green tornado. The first word that fell out in her mouth was simply, "Shit!"

Rose quickly slammed the door, enough for her to think of an alternative escape route. The only reason why she didn't jump out from the nearest window was hearing someone bursting into the room where the rogue tree resided. Yet she didn't dare open the door.

a sudden thought about the end of time² and 42.

so you know how when donna was getting her memories back like a sped up clipshow (paralleling to 11 headbutting Craig and 13 breaking the matrix in the timeless children)

And donna described the feeling as her mind burning: hotter and hotter and hotter et al.

What if that was just the DoctorDonna side - specifically the Doctor side - explicitly showing what the Doctor felt when he got possessed by the Sun in 42.

How that zoom in was depicting exactly what he was going though, echoing out the pain he went through now with Donna AND HER NOW ALSO EXPERIENCING THAT TRAUMATIC EVENT AND FEELING AND JUST ugh.

And before she fainted, the explosion wave (energy wave, regeneration failsafe idk) mimicked that of those space clouds or how the bad wolf - while possessing rose tyler - took out the dalek fleet, that little explosion thing that look like ocean waves before the bad wolf then possessed nine so IT COULDVE BEEN THE BAD WOLF AS THE LITERAL BACKUP

anyway having the pain of a sentient sun, regenerative energy (or lindos) and time vortex Bad Wolf (sentient artron energy) team up long enough to fight back while both trying to burn your mind and render you faint, DoctorDonna really said she better than both Doctor and Rose combined when handling that amount of energy, radioactivity AND LIVED and took a nap.

How sexy of them, bye.

Starro's last words is the direct reference to the Twelfth Doctor lying there in the Mondasian Ship Battlefield, Eleventh Doctor and Amy with Vincent in the grass staring at stars, Tenth Doctor and any space shot, and Wilfred (and the deleted scene of Donna's dad) looking up at the stars:

a thought about turn left:

me when i first watched turn left: oh cool rose and donna! a donna centric episode!

me later: wow rose really did all this to try and get back to the doctor

me now: so when donna got killed in turn left and then snapped out of the beetle back and she told the doctor what rose said - the doctor didn't know about what exactly happened other than what donna could retain at the time. Yet when at the end of Journey's End, he (which I'm going to call new² tenth doctor and tentoo and donna all shared a mind together. Which also means that the new² Tenth Doctor saw all that stuff Donna went through as well as how far Rose was willing to go to get back to him and THATS WHY HE SAID 'does it need saying' BECAUSE HE DIDNT SEE THE WOMAN HE FELL FOR, THE WOMAN HE RAN TO, HE SAW A PERSON THAT WAS WILLING TO KILL HIS BEST FRIEND AND THATS WHY HE HE LOOKED AT TENTOO AND ROSE SADLY BUT ALSO DIDNT GIVE HER (and us) WHAT SHE WANTED

me now, continued: BECAUSE WHEN SHE CHOSE TO LOSE DONNA, SHE LOST HIM. NO SECOND CHANCES. Gave her tentoo as if to say: you wanted who I used to be instead of who I am now, here take him.

me: his hearts broke twice because that meta-crisis 3 way mental share proves that the Doctor gave them both a tardis seed as if to remove himself from Rose altogether. He'll think fondly of her but, now it's tainted because davros was right. He turned her into a weapon. A weapon that too would kill to get back to him, no matter who is in the way.

me: it may not have been a real universe but, it was real enough for rose to transport herself that, real enough for others to listen and hug and make her a viable part of their world. Real enough for rose to convince donna to "sacrifice" herself if it meant rose could get back to even just send a message as donna took her last breath in her pocket universe. rose watching her die, coming from behind the truck as if she was the one who hit her the entire time.

me: and the reason people get so caught up in the "love story of doctor and rose" is that eventually, they too like rose, lost sight on what that could effect on the world around them and thereby the consequences of their choices. 11x 12 x Clara arc is a prime example of this. 50th anniversary is another.

me: so, yeah, that's why I made an alternative rose tyler (and with it an alternate doctor) because canonical rose went from lawful good with nine to nearing neutral evil just to get what she wanted and still being blind to the fact that even the face was the same, the regeneration still happened. Inside, that tenth doctor is a whole nother person. A person who had moved on - or martha's words "got out" - from Rose.

me: meanwhile, my alt!rose (RMT) didn't even do any of that.

Story You Were Nervous to Post: Ooof, a recent Oliver fic. Only because it had alcohol themes and smoliver asking her on a date. Just due to his curse and things I didn't want to change too much but it was all consensual with adult Oliver. I was just nervous some people would read into it and take it the wrong way :( Oliver x MC “In A Perfect World You’re Happy With Me” (Looking back at it, it actually got a good response! I am surprised cuz I posted it then tried to put it out of my mind lol. #thanksanxiety

How You Choose Your Titles: First thing that comes to mind. Song lyrics, one word that sticks out in the fic. Or if its a common word or a word/title I’ve used before I put it into One Look Reverse Dictionary and find a similar word that means the sameish thing. I don’t dwell on titles too much tbh. 

Completed: Last I counted, I had over 500 short stories under my belt. You can read them all on my blog but not everything was put into my masterlist. This was just due to the tumblr purge we had and I had to make a new masterlist since a lot of my fics got shadowbanned due to the tagging system back then. I didnt wanna repost them all lol

Incomplete: I have an entire spreadsheet that I plop all my ideas on... and it is FULL. I organize it by fandom, suitor, and fluff vs. smut. Ummmmmm.... See below: Coming soon lol. 

Do You Outline? I usually start writing when I have an idea and if I need to step away from my computer I will do a quick outline. AKA just some quick bullet points of what I was thinking would happen next lol. If I ever take the time to properly do a full outline, I 100% go off the rails and do my own thing away from the outline. I am what is called a ‘discovery writer’ lol. I discoverer my own story as i write it then go back and edit it and act like I knew what I was doing all along lmfao.

Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: I have 3 substantial WIPS (like 2-3k words) I bounce between that I’m working on. Victor x Mc, Vincent x MC and Faust x MC. 

A plan to do part 2 of Gavin x MC’ s ”Distortion” . 

I also have an long running AU fic with Gavin x MC (8k currently) but that is far away from being done lol. 

There is also an 11 chapter fic I am planning. I have 2 chapters written but I cant seem to figure out one major plot detail and its keeping me from getting it done anytime soon :( 

There is a chapter fic im writing for a cradle born MC, however its a mesh of our MC and my OC and its kinda complicated. Also its fluff and I’m less interested in writing that BUT I really want to share this story <3

Do You Accept Prompts? I used to every once in a while but I have so many WIPS and no personal computer at home rn. (SOON THOUGH!) So I don’t have the chance to write as much in my free time as I used to. I’ll take prompts but I let them sit in my ask box until I am able to write them <3. I am not the person to ask people to stop sending them, cuz I like to see what yall want me to write and take that into consideration for sure. I like taking asks for Thirsty Thursday (even if its not thurs, I will hold onto them until then) and answer them 😍 I love those because more people are involved other than me and I like being a part of something bigger than myself 🤗

What do you use to edit?: I pay for Grammarly (its AMAZING even the free version is super worth it) 

For word meanings, synonyms, and better wording I use OneLook Reverse Dictionary ALL THE TIME for every single fic. (and like I said before, to help with titles)

When I feel like something is off and grammarly doesn’t quite know and I don’t know, I put the fic through Hemmingway Editor. It tells you HOW readable a sentence is. If its hard to read I rewrite it and make things a bit simpler for the eyes. Its free in the browser. 

Writing setup: Ideally, the sun is coming in through the window, It’s cool inside, I’m wearing a fuzzy sweater, I have hot coffee or tea, and my head phones are in. 

I listen to lofi music station on youtube but If its distracting I put on lofi without lyrics. I love THIS playlist. (this is live so it’ll prob break but here’s an alt link to their offline playlist) If I am in an upbeat mood I like “Electropose” music. Or I listen to the ‘setting’ a fic is in. Like if its raining in the story, I put on rain ambiance and things like that. 

Do you use a beta reader? No 😬, not really. Anytime I have someone beta read and they comment on the content and not the editing I get way too nervous to post the fic and suddenly it get sick to my stomach laskjdlsdj. I trust a couple gals to beta read in an editing mind set but I don’t bother them all the time. I like to go balls to the walls and trust grammarly, post the damn thing, and bite my nails hoping for the best. 

Where do you get your writing inspo?: Bruh, #1 READING! Reading books, reading fics, reading summaries for things. Also, reading the routes in otomes, watching anime, and letting my mind wonder lol. I also like to chat with people on discord and let the stories unfold. Inspo has also come from a lot of my dreams tbh. My dreams are hella vivid and I try to write them down when I wake up if they are interesting lol.

history

born to two parents both on the business side of the entertainment industry, cleo was familiarized with hollywood pretty much from day one. she got her start as a toddler doing modeling gigs, commercials and small guest spots on the shows of her mother’s other clients. she already had a good collection of films under her belt and was well on her way to being a household name by the time she was 10.

because she was always working, cleo never attended traditional school. the entirety of her education has been homeschooling either with her mother or private tutors. cleo typically worked on serious film sets as a child, so she also typically didn’t spend much time around other kids her age, and never had any close friends. 

when cleo was 11, she landed a role on a disney show. she was cast as the best friend role and not the lead, so her mother initially didn’t want to accept the part, but cleo was desperate to be around kids her own age and basically begged to get to do the show. the show ran for the standard three years. cleo grew a big attachment to the show and it’s cast because it was her first real experience with socialization with kids her own age, not to mention it was the first set she was on longer than just a few months and as such her first real sense of consistency outside of her immediate family. 

the end of her disney show marked the beginning of more things for cleo than endings, but either way, cleo looks back at that point as one of the most significant moments in her life. cleo transitioned into more “serious” acting roles as well as entered into her first serious relationship with a boy who, other than family connections, was relatively unknown. 

things only really got messy when cleo was 18. an important note about cleo is that she has a tendency to lose track of her own fame and she doesn’t really think things through before she says them. she started to fall in with the wrong crowds and garner a reputation for being a bit of a partier. she also started to say some accidentally inflammatory things in particular about her former co-star alexa. after that things really started to spiral. as a result of cleo’s carelessness, she ended up losing both alexa as a friend and also her boyfriend. 

cleo REALLY spiraled after this. the combination of having lost the only friends she’d ever really had, partnered with her feeling of complete lack of control over her life, and her undiagnosed/untreated personality disorder, cleo attempted suicide following her breakup. she was admitted to the hospital and was quick to admit to what she had been trying to do. she was put on a psychiatric hold and began regular therapy after she was let out. the entire thing was covered up by her momager as just a health issue and it was never released to the public that it was a suicide attempt. beyond that, cleo’s stint in therapy didn’t last very long and got pushed to the side every time it interfered with her filming schedule so she ended up dropping it entirely within about a year.

the next big transition in cleo’s life happened the next year, when she once again temporarily forgot she was famous and uploaded a youtube video of herself singing a song she had written. after that she got a lot of calls from various producers begging to sign her, wanting to capitalize on what appeared to be a big name actress looking to transition into music. cleo ended up signing with connor mann, alexa’s best friend, because he was the only person she trusted to genuinely invest in her and didn’t seem to only be in it for her name. this whole thing ended up sparking a big fight with cleo’s mom and she ended up firing her mom as her manager, which ended up meaning cutting all ties with her family.

cleo’s life is pretty much perpetually a wreck regardless of verse so there’s not a lot to say there. girl is messy. she does have good intentions but it’s hard for her to sort through her thoughts and feelings and actually rationalize anything. especially because she doesn’t start therapy again until her 20s and learn to process her emotions healthily. when she does eventually get to that point, she ends up moving out of la, but not actually quitting music. she just takes a break from the hollywood lifestyle as she recognizes eventually that the fast pace makes it harder for her to process everything healthily and keep herself grounded. 

overall, cleo really is very kindhearted and friendly, if not a bit misguided. she can be harsh because she doesn’t think before she speaks, but she loves with her whole heart and she’s very kind to everyone she meets. she’s also,, remarkably humble despite being a world famous actress.

connections

alexa paige. ex-best friend. being cast as best friends on a disney show when they were eleven threw both cleo and alexa into the spotlight, and towards each other. for the years they were filming, the duo were inseparable, always having sleepovers and trips to disneyland together. after the show ended, though, things changed. alexa left acting behind for music and cleo had to deal with life in the film industry after disney alone. while alexa was out making new friends, cleo was feeling left behind on her new grown up film sets without her usual companion. not to mention the way the press always seemed to be pitting them against each other. in a couple of heated moments with the paparazzi, cleo said some things she lived to regret, and her friendship with alexa paid the price.

connor mann. producer / best friend. connor was alexa’s friend first. so naturally when things fell apart in her friendship with alexa, cleo’s budding friendship with connor got cut short. the two only reconnected recently after cleo made her first move onto the music scene. connor was in need of a client, and cleo needed someone to show her the ropes. cleo doesn’t know how to express how grateful she is for connor, and to him for putting her past mistakes behind them and beind such a great friend. they never expected to become so close, but connor quickly became cleo’s favorite person in the world. 

rylan maxwell. first love. as a kid, cleo tagged along with alexa to just about everything, including family gatherings. which is how she met rylan, alexa’s cousin. the two fell hard for each other as teens and maintained a serious relationship for a few years. but it was rylan’s family loyalty that drove them apart after cleo and alexa’s fallout. the two have very much been at odds ever since.
