I'm going to talk about illustrators who inspire me now, as I was just chatting to Luvwich about who got me going when I was a teen.

These are a few of my favourites!

🍄 What is something you should have focused on more when you first started, and now pay more attention to?

A lot of low- and mid- experience artists, when giving feedback to beginner artists, will focus strongly on anatomy. After seeing a lot of this, I skipped quickly to trying to study and focus on anatomical accuracy when I should have spent more time on gesture.

To compare this to linguistics, this is like practising only grammar and avoiding attempting to use language to comminicate. A good foundation of gesture drawing also makes it easier to tackle anatomy later, so I really beefed it!

I think you can see this in my work even now, where there's rarely a sense of motion (and I tend to choose subjects that mean I don't need to try). I really ought to sketch more but I feel the outcome is so weak compared to what I am capable of...

I Will Be Sure When I No Longer Remember Myself

I had the worst time settling down last night. I don't know why it was so difficult, but I suppose I can guess a few things since I did the equivalent of kicking up magical dirt in my home. I made an anklet last night to help sleep and aid other magic stuff. I think I'll keep using it.

Otherwise, I did have a Strider dream even if he had to help me fall asleep in my restless state. The dream itself is hard to fully recall but I will try.

The beginning is difficult. It gets hard to grasp. But somewhere along the lines I ended up at my default dreamscape of my relative's home. Strider was there and he was watching over this group of kids. I went up to him and told "hey if you needed help, you coulda woke me up. You don't need to guard me by always letting me rest while you do everything." He let out a sigh. I think the dream did an internal mirroring thing it shouldn't have because it acted too much like an artifcially generated image, unstable and too many items in it. We picked up bubble blowers before some ghastly winds came.

The part didn't last long. I ended up with my mom at this antique fair. Something that was in town. One of the shops had these.. paintings. The best I can say is they were in Vetyr's style, but of figures from my othercrowd. I wanted a 100 dollar tapestry of a pink hand touching a purple one (they were almost palm to palm) with a purple planet with a ring disc around it. It had a quote on it that said, "Wherever you are, we're connected." I didn't think much of it as I looked at other items. Small figurines, pins, and trinket trays.

The store on the right side of the building had music going on. It was more antiques. But the song was "Intertwined" by Steam Powered Giraffe. I thought it was odd because I didn't expect to hear that song playing there. I recognized the bass of Zer0 and went "ohh this was the latest album" (latest being relative here). They weren't there as I peeked in. I ended up leaving with my mom and woke.

Tinder Saint {WIP Intro}

The gods of Lifrasir are dead, but their legacy lives on in the the war-ravaged land and the loas, people born with the ability to channel an element. The Palamidia, the brutal military force of the Solarian Empire, has brought most under their rule despite resistance from the independent regions.

Vahn knows how to survive. He’s spent his entire life doing just that, biding his time in the shadows of others. But when the Palamidia’s Saint of Fire falls and a new one is called, Vahn will risk everything to gain a power all his own.

CW: child abuse (implied. physical & sexual, though nothing is explicitly described). emotional & verbal abuse. body dysmorphia. body horror.

Vahn had heard of the soldiers in white. The others would whisper of them sometimes, but always in different ways. Some would say they’d heard of the soldiers arriving to free those that were owned, but others cursed them all the same. They said they’d rather die than spend a second scraping to the Palamidia. They’d spit with dry mouths, then say that at least it was their bodies that were owned and nothing else. They’d straighten their limbs and say that at least they were still free.

Free wasn’t something Vahn could understand. Sometimes, when he dreamed of green fields and wild purple grasses and the chime of his mother’s voice, he thought he could almost grasp it. 

But he always woke up.

Hi can you make a tutorial of your art process (brushes , platform everything)

hi anon! I don't think I can ever do a "tutorial" for my art process. Mainly bc I don't do full art pieces regularly, and other times, I just don't have a strict process I follow. I usually have an idea, and then sketch it out, and just... go from there.

I can give out general guidelines I used to follow tho:

artist that I look for inspiration:

for any "serious" art: syd mills (@/vetyr on tumblr), andrea (phosphenes.org), eliza ivanova (@/eleeza on ig), and loish (loish.net)

for my "doodle" art: nine (@/ninefeels on ig), artchiu/w0nkko (on ig), and a lot of the stuff I pick up from other dream team artists on tumblr as well like jun_hug and luminiciant

I draw on CSP now, but I used to use Affinity Designer on my laptop for the longest time and would still use that every now and then. Brushes as from gumroad, DAUB, true grit texture supply, and retrosupply, for the most part. I love to experiment.
