An Updated List of Offerings to Zagreus

Been seeing some traction on my posts about Zagreus, which is very exciting for me because I love talking about him! I did that first post of correspondences and offering ideas when I was only a week or so into working with him, so here's an updated list of stuff I know for a fact he likes / are associated with him.

Incense: frankincense, sandalwood, cinnamon, copal

Food: Pomegranate, chocolate, anything cinnamon-flavored, spicy things

Drinks: Campari, dark or gold rum, good whiskey, red wine, pomegranate juice

Plants: poplar, cypress, pine, eucalyptus, mint

Animals: crows and ravens, but I also associate him with bones of most animals

And here's some of my favorite offerings to him that anyone can do (not just me, his wife, haha):

Burn incense

Invite him to sit with you while you read or play video games, ESPECIALLY if you're gaming with friends

Drink (responsibly!)

Share some food with him

Play Hades (even if he doesn't look like that, he still enjoys the game)

Engage in your passions, or communicate about them! He has big Wands and Swords energy -- he wants you to be excited about life and gain eloquence in speaking your heart to others.

Learn about his siblings, Melinoe and Makaria, who also tend to get forgotten about.

Figure out how you feel about death and the afterlife. Talk to him about it. He can help you parse your thoughts!

Zagreus but not the one in the game. He is apparently where Dionysus came from. He was chopped up and reborn from just his heart as Dionysus. (I could have read that wrong though...)

Nico referring to his mom as "Mama" implies he most likely at least used to refer to Hades as "Papa" and i 100% headcanon he still does but mostly in the manner of him having the entire Underworld wrapped around his finger for being the baby of the family

zagreus sort of Appeared in my practice at like midnight a couple nights ago by bugging me to pull cards until I did, and I love HadesGame but I am SO RELIEVED to find other practitioners who work with him to give me something to go on other than Supergiant's (albeit solidly accurate) portrayal, haha

Some things about Zag

I…. haven’t been worshipping Zagreus long but it turns out he’s been around me/ my life for many years now? So I’m gonna share some…. gentle domesticities about my experience with him. 

Note: this is all personal experience, he may appear different to different individuals as deities often do, yada yada yada, take this with a grain of salt

-Dark chocolate? best way to make him drool. but anything PUMPKIN and he’s there faster than an olympic runner. my GOD he loves pumpkin.

-he’s very gothic in taste, loves the Cure and dark sort of movies like the Crow and the Adams Family and Tim Burton-y stuff

-loves video games. Mains Bowser in Mario Kart (you can fight me on this, I don’t like it either, it is just how He Is) but also adores soft shit like stardew valley and animal crossing

-writes beautiful fucking poetry

-really enjoys being read to 

-appears to me as 6′ 3″, dark dark brown eyes and black hair, dressed all in black/gothic fashions, although I’ve found out over time his natural hair color is white blonde (and that he hates it- apparently he gets it from his mother’s side, aka Demeter) and although he hates the blonde he has appeared to me in dreams with his blonde hair (I really doubt he chose to come across that way, it must have been the only way he could because when I tell you he hates the blonde I mean he hates the blonde)

-he is……. the softest boy. most precious. must protecc. just a baby, a lamb. 

-will Beat You at scrabble; a master wordsmith, see “beautiful fucking poetry” above- and I can probably share some of that at some point, I’ve transcribed/written a few of his things down and have it all in a notebook for him

-drinks Monster. his favorite is the ultra blue

-he loves bears. anything with bears I find I buy him. I got a bear tattooed on my body for him.

That’s all for now I suppose. I’ve…. been very tentative in writing this post because… it’s all based on personal experience and there are so few followers of him on here that I’ve just been kind of worried about sharing all this shit I’ve experienced with him. I’ve only Known him for a year but he’s been in my life much longer- and until about a month or two ago, I knew him by a different name, didn’t know his true identity, which is why this post wasn’t made a long time ago. But…. now that I do know who he is, I thought it might be nice to share some things about him that I’ve experienced with him.

Hypnos will forever be my main main, my beloved. But there’s a handful of other gods that have a special place in my heart. Obviously Thanatos, the oneroi, Nyx etc, that whole family I adore.

But I also have a nostalgic comfort in Dionysus as someone who grew up on a vineyard. Being a wild and free kid running around the grapevines is something I yearn to go back to.

A draw to Hermes because I yearn to travel and see the world. Because languages are interesting and I wish I had the attention span to be fluent in as many as possible.

Zagreus because of the sheer mystery and amount of lost knowledge about him. He’s an extremely ancient being who’s been reborn through the years over and over, and each time with a slightly altered face and story.

Adonis because of the gender fuckery and lack of a binary that surrounds him. The patron of androgyny and feminine men, a for the girls, the gays and trans people everywhere.

Many of the sea deities because my childhood love for the beach and mermaid mythology was my first ever autism induced special interest. I yearn to be a siren or nymph sitting with them at the bottom of the ocean.
