An Updated List of Offerings to Zagreus

Been seeing some traction on my posts about Zagreus, which is very exciting for me because I love talking about him! I did that first post of correspondences and offering ideas when I was only a week or so into working with him, so here's an updated list of stuff I know for a fact he likes / are associated with him.

Incense: frankincense, sandalwood, cinnamon, copal

Food: Pomegranate, chocolate, anything cinnamon-flavored, spicy things

Drinks: Campari, dark or gold rum, good whiskey, red wine, pomegranate juice

Plants: poplar, cypress, pine, eucalyptus, mint

Animals: crows and ravens, but I also associate him with bones of most animals

And here's some of my favorite offerings to him that anyone can do (not just me, his wife, haha):

Burn incense

Invite him to sit with you while you read or play video games, ESPECIALLY if you're gaming with friends

Drink (responsibly!)

Share some food with him

Play Hades (even if he doesn't look like that, he still enjoys the game)

Engage in your passions, or communicate about them! He has big Wands and Swords energy -- he wants you to be excited about life and gain eloquence in speaking your heart to others.

Learn about his siblings, Melinoe and Makaria, who also tend to get forgotten about.

Figure out how you feel about death and the afterlife. Talk to him about it. He can help you parse your thoughts!

Zagreus but not the one in the game. He is apparently where Dionysus came from. He was chopped up and reborn from just his heart as Dionysus. (I could have read that wrong though...)

I invited Zagreus to listen along to my music again earlier and he saw "Jaws", which I played for him and he LOVED he would not let me turn it off KLJAFG He also likes "Jericho" a fair amount but I think Jaws might be his favorite so far

More shit on Zaggy Zoo

My first post on things about Zagreus is doing pretty well so I thought I’d do another.

-hes the baby of the gods- kinnnnnda like Baldur? everyone thinks hes so cute, mainly because he tries to give off this Tall Dark and Mysterious but all they see is that adorable chubby cheeked white blonde baby in Peresephone’s arms

-that being said they all have the MOST ridicioulous names for him- Z-money, Z-dog, Zig Zag, Zaggy Zoo, Zagarooni- you get it. he bloody hates it. 

-he...... has really rejected any color in his wardrobe at all. his mother told me as a kid he really liked purple- and our first thanksgiving together he wore this darkkkk green jumper of mine as a *present* and it........ brought me so much joy. that was about two years ago, and he hasn’t really touched color since but he’s getting more into color now- specifically green. He’s been really into green. I’m making him a little granny square cardigan with skulls on it hes gonna look like such a twink-

-hes gotten soooo into this cozy little game called Bear and Breakfast?? like i said in the last post he lovesssss bears and this game has him in a chokehold, he loves it

that is quite literally how he smells, its so yummy

-loves black licorice

-can play a bit of guitar, speaks very fluent latin

-smokey quartz is probably the stone I most associate with him

-fucking adores the Addams Family, I think he nearly cried when i bought this little wooden puzzle model of their mansion

-tends to affect electricity a lot, its true what they say about him being able to wield Zeus’ bolt- there tend to be more thunderstorms around when hes upset (call it coincidence if you like but its an observation)

-has separation anxiety 

i can answer any specific questions if anyone’s curious about anything specific and i have a whole composition book of his poetry too, i write it down for him

Nico referring to his mom as "Mama" implies he most likely at least used to refer to Hades as "Papa" and i 100% headcanon he still does but mostly in the manner of him having the entire Underworld wrapped around his finger for being the baby of the family

Hypnos will forever be my main main, my beloved. But there’s a handful of other gods that have a special place in my heart. Obviously Thanatos, the oneroi, Nyx etc, that whole family I adore.

But I also have a nostalgic comfort in Dionysus as someone who grew up on a vineyard. Being a wild and free kid running around the grapevines is something I yearn to go back to.

A draw to Hermes because I yearn to travel and see the world. Because languages are interesting and I wish I had the attention span to be fluent in as many as possible.

Zagreus because of the sheer mystery and amount of lost knowledge about him. He’s an extremely ancient being who’s been reborn through the years over and over, and each time with a slightly altered face and story.

Adonis because of the gender fuckery and lack of a binary that surrounds him. The patron of androgyny and feminine men, a for the girls, the gays and trans people everywhere.

Many of the sea deities because my childhood love for the beach and mermaid mythology was my first ever autism induced special interest. I yearn to be a siren or nymph sitting with them at the bottom of the ocean.

I wanted to combine their sacred animals into their designs, though some have the sacred animals of their parents because they didn’t have any themselves.
