My therapist asked me:
“So, people sometimes come into these programs with a feeling of emptiness. Is that something you feel?”
I thought about it for a minute and I said “No.” But, then it very suddenly became a “What? HELL NO!”
I have a soul, I am creative, I can fill my own cup with awesome ideas and creations that I’d love to share. So no. Not “empty”.
Pissed off? Yes.
Frustrated? Yes.
Maybe kind of crazy? Uh, duh.
Empty? Fuck no.
I’m a creator without a reliable outlet and have been thrown into a cage, only to be used when needed. That ended, hopefully, last month after my birthday.
Therapy is going to be interesting this time.

Don't let republicans fool you with their national populism cause they do not give a single care for veterans who died and suffered for America. They would hollow out the VA and fill it corporate and political stooges who would blindly follow the GOP's bidding. Our government doesn't care enough for veterans and here we have Republicans confirming it, remember it was Biden who passed the CARE act. So remember a future where our soldiers suffer more than they already do is what the Republicans want.

"More than 800 records of service members who were kicked out of the military under the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy were recently upgraded to receive honorable discharges, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Tuesday.
“Just over a year ago, I announced that the Department would, for the first time, begin to proactively review the military records of former Service members discharged during ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ because of their sexual orientation who might have been eligible for upgrades to the characterization of their discharge or changes to their reason for separation but had not yet applied,” Austin said. “After a year of exceptional work, the Military Department Review Boards directed relief in 96.8% of the 851 cases that they proactively reviewed.”"

Hey Everyone ,:]
It's been a rough day for US citizens, hasn't it?
For the next four years, and possibly longer, things will not be the same for queer people, women, veterans/soldiers, and people of color.
If you aren't sure of exactly what was going to happen to your rights, here is a link to an extremely helpful source. This is more focused on queer and reproductive rights, so here's another that's more focused on what's going to happen to immigrants, PoC, etc.
Here are some links/numbers if you need someone to talk to:
The Trevor Project - A website for queer people and connects them with someone to talk to, they even have a "quick exit" option (esc x3 for computer users) if you need to close the tab quickly.
988 - Basically the 911 for mental health issues (US, Canada, Hawaii only, other options below)
741741 - Similar to 988, but only text based. (US only)
116 123- UK crisis line
13 11 14 - Australia crisis line
Right now, we're answering any and all asks asap regarding comfort for the election <3

Oh my sweet gentle Jebus! If that’s not the WORST duo for women I don’t know what is! Can you imagine!? The guy who took away a woman’s right to bodily autonomy, a guy who suggested injecting bleach in the body and shining sunlight up your butthole. The same guy who said, “like a miracle it will just go away” when a deadly virus was taking lives by the hundreds of thousands! A man who’s clearly not well himself. Won’t release his medical records like every other presidential candidate has (or his tax returns, not the point)
Put that together with a guy who caused an outbreak of polio in a third world country because of his anti vaccination stance. Now wants to peddle that same outcome in America!?. A guy who has a dead worm in his brain and has decades of sexual assault settlements and allegations (guess him and Trump have that in common) and mutilates dead wales and baby bears!! Him as surgeon general or worse!?
Holy smokes!! Run ladies!! Run!!!
Pretty much anyone with a child, with preexisting conditions, the elderly, the immunocompromised will be in severe danger!
Seriously WTF!? Make American revert 80 years!? 😳

In response to it being said that veterans are terrible people.
I think it's worth remembering that recruiters come in and lie to young people about what being in the military is. To many, it seems like the only way out of poverty or into college. Also, it is framed as a noble sacrifice and a masculine way to make an otherwise unimportant life valuable if they feel like a failure, making suicidal and socially rejected young men particularly vulnerable.
Then they get home, disabled, traumatized, trained in a way that strips them of their humanity in a way that makes reintegration into society difficult. They don't get the things they were promised. They don't get support for the harm done to them, and they miss out on years of development their peers had.
Obviously, being willing to kill people is bad, and the military does awful awful things that people are complicit in even when they aren't directly involved in killing.
You absolutely do not owe anyone your time, friendship, interpersonal forgiveness, or anything. I just think it's important to remember that even the people perpetuating horrible things are being treated as pawns, mislead, mistreated.
I'm not going to act like it's equal, but people in all positions in society are victims of the systems we exist under.
I don't think calling them terrible is productive. Many vets are very aware of the horrors of the countries leaders, the misuse of taxes, and the abuse and killing of so many people. Many are radically in favor of improving these conditions and broadly creating a better world.
Even if they aren't very nice and have done horrible things, they still deserve compassion and support. We need to give them the help the country refuses to. Help them get to a better place, and they'll be in a headspace much easier for them to become compassionate people.

About to go into a long weekend for veterans day in the USA - happy USA military industrial complex hero worship day! Don't forget to celebrate by ripping an american flag in half like you're george von trapp in the sound of music and then burning it to ash. To really get into the holiday season, give every current and former service member you encounter the bird ❤️🤍💙

“Starting Jan. 17, [2023,] all veterans will be able to access emergency mental health care free of charge at any Veterans Affairs medical facility or outside clinic, regardless of whether they are already enrolled in department health care services.
Department officials announced the new policy on Friday as part of nationwide efforts to prevent suicide among veterans...
“Veterans in suicidal crisis can now receive the free, world-class emergency health care they deserve, no matter where they need it, when they need it, or whether they’re enrolled in VA care,” VA Secretary Denis McDonough said in a statement. “This expansion of care will save veterans’ lives, and there’s nothing more important than that.”
The new policy applies to all veterans with any separation status except a dishonorable discharge, regardless of whether they qualify for other VA medical services.
About 18 million veterans are living in America today, but only about half are currently enrolled in veterans health care through the department.
Since 2019, all VA medical facilities have been required to provide same-day access to emergency mental health care to veterans.
Under the new policy, VA will either waive costs for care or — in cases of visits outside the VA system — provide reimbursements for emergency mental health care. Those costs can include appointment fees, transportation costs and other related follow-up expenses.
The new plan also calls for VA to cover the costs of up to 30 days of inpatient or residential care for treatment of those mental health issues and up to 90 days of outpatient care if veterans are experiencing an acute suicidal crisis...
“This new benefit removes cost from the equation when veterans are at imminent risk of self-harm and allows them to access lifesaving care when they need it most, regardless of whether the veteran has ever enrolled in or used VA healthcare benefits,” he said in a statement.”

I’ve been unfollowing any pages who published “dying for our freedom” posts about the US Veterans Day in the same way I do if pages post jingoistic crap on Armistice Day in November.
I wear a white poppy for Armistice Day every year for the victims of Imperialism and for working to end wars of Imperialism. I’ll probably pair it with a Palestine pin this year 🍉
It is genuinely important to fight the cultural drive to enforce the acceptance of imperialism. It’s not about ”respect”; it’s about normalising something that is not acceptable. It’s about drawing a veil of acceptability over young people being forced, whether legally or economically, to go and risk their lives in a country that isn’t theirs to kill kids who belong there.

the venn diagram of people who think all Israelis deserve to suffer by virtue of being born in and/or living in Israel and people who think all veterans should be considered war criminals and not be supported after their service is so nauseatingly close to being a circle
