Velam Isetta, 1956. Italian appliance maker Iso developed the Isetta microcar in response to a growing demand for small and affordable cars after the war. It was introduced in 1953 at the Turin Motor Show and generated interest from across Europe.  Licences were sold to BMW for the German market and to Velam for France. The French version was produced in Suresnes between 1955 and 1958. Being offered at Rétromobile 2025, this example was originally sold in Paris and remained in the same ownership for 40 years. The current owner acquired it in 2015; he then had it restored completely (restoration file) and gave it to his wife for her birthday.

After the success of the Iso Isetta, Iso decided to break into slightly larger (yet still micro-sized) cars with their all-new ISO 2000 and 2000Va. It was a rear-engine flat-4-powered microcar, with the option of a forward control microvan or a conventional 2+2 microcar. They were produced from 1957-1964, and were produced under license by BMW, VELAM, and Romi, like the original Isetta from 1953. These are re-creations of some of the original preliminary blueprints, drafted by designers Ermenegildo Preti and Pierluigi Raggi in 1956.

Vintage Ride

前回、60’s Rideとして60年代の映画で乗られている自動車やバイクについて寄稿したけど、今回は50~70年代の自動車についてなので、Vintage Rideとしてみました。

ヴェラム イセッタ（VELAM Isetta）

映画『パリの恋人』より

写真の不思議な形のミニマムな車。映画『パリの恋人』の中でフレッドアステアがVOGUEの編集長役のケイトンプソンとオードリーヘップバーンを迎えに来る時に使われたフランス製のモダンな車。

映画の中ではペコペコと不思議な効果音とともに現れ、いそいそと二人が降りて来る。ケイトンプソンはわりと長身なのでとても窮屈そうに見えるが、このイセッタは実際にヨーロッパの自動車会社（BMWなど）数社が実際に販売していて、もちろん乗車もできる。こういうミニマムカーは電気自動車として是非復刻して欲しいと思う。モダンだし、現代で��省スペースとなって時代性にもぴったりな気がする。

フォルクスワーゲン ビートル（VolksWagen Beetle）

映画『アニー・ホール』より

ビートルはその丸みを帯びたフォルムが万人に愛され、70'sの映画では『アニー・ホール』でも登場する。映画の中で初対面のスカッシュの後、マックス（ウッディアレン）を送る為にアニー（ダイアンキートン）がビートルを運転する。

アニーの運転下手でゆらゆらと揺れるビートルや二人のぎこちない会話が特徴的でなんとなくこそばゆい甘ずっぱいシーン。マックスの家に着いてからの二人の恋の駆け引きやら腹の探り合いとなる前のお互いが惹かれ合う楽しい場面。

FIAT500 (FIAT Fiat500)

幾度かのモデルチェンジを経て受け継がれているモダンカー。

小さなころりとしたフォルムが可愛らしく、この写真はジェーンBのそばに偶然写り込んだものらしく、別角度から写ったものにはFIATのエンブレムが見えるものもあった。車のサイズ感と60's風にキマった自然なジェーンが絵になっている。

どの車も場に馴染み、アクセントとなる存在感があるモデル。可愛らしく一度は乗ってみたい素晴らしいクルマたちである。
