I love your blog :) could you please recommend some Dutch music? i'm of Dutch descent and i'd love to listen to some dutch music :) Doei!

Here are some of my favorites off the top of my head:

Boudewijn de Groot: an absolute gem is Nacht en Ontij, the song Heksensabbath is an experience, whew.

Maaike Ouboter: everything she produces is just beautiful. I highly recommend listening to all of them. Here’s: Vanaf Nu & En Hoe Het Dan Ook Weer Dag Wordt. 

Eefje de Visser: albums De Koek and Het Is are absolutely wonderful. My favorite song is probably Naast Me. 

Het dorp by Wim Sonneveld is also a beautiful song, and I feel very fitting to my blog.

While it tops out at 100 kph, or 62 mph, it’s meant for all those short trips we make within town, what Ouboter argues make up 90% of our auto use. The original Isetta debuted in the 1950s when BMW wanted to provide an affordable, highly fuel-conscious vehicle for post-war Europe. The original design was created by the Italian company Iso Rivolta who licensed it to six carmakers. BMW went on to produce 160,000 Isettas, some of which are still popular among collectors today. Ouboter’s Micro Mobility Systems debuted their electric version of the Isetta, the Microlino, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, where they racked up 500 reservations in less than 2 weeks. Swiss brothers get ready to refloat the bubble car

ZURICH (Reuters) – With its quirky egg shape and minimalist interior, the bubble car was a symbol of cheap and cheerful mobility on European roads in the 1950s and 60s.

Today, two Swiss brothers are developing a new version of the two-seater, a full 56 years after BMW halted production of its famed Isetta after churning out more than 160,000 vehicles.

Oliver and Merlin Ouboter have more than 7,200 orders for their Microlino, a modern version of the Isetta which swaps the old single-cylinder petrol engine for a 20 horsepower electric motor but keeps the famous front-opening door.

The brothers, whose father Wim made millions from modernized kick-scooters, plan to launch the car in December.

“The average modern car is way too big for normal use,” said Oliver, the project’s 24-year-old operations chief.

He cited statistics showing the average car journey involves 1.2 passengers driving less than 35 km.

They built two prototypes in China and displayed one at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, where enthusiasts received them warmly.

“We started a reservations list with 500 spots on it, and in three or four days it was filled up,” said Merlin, 22, the chief marketing officer.

The Microlino will be built by Italian manufacturer Tazzari, which has a 50 percent stake in the project and eventually plans to produce 5,000 of the vehicles per year.

With the car retailing for 12,000 euros, pre-existing components keeps costs down. The engine, for example, is a modified version of a fork-lift powerplant, and the door handles come from the Fiat 500.

The standard vehicle has a range of 120 km and a top speed of 90 km/h. It charges in four hours from a normal plug for roughly 1.50 euros. Its trunk holds up to 300 liters, while the instrumentation is bare bones.

“We have stripped a lot of the needless instruments out,” said Oliver. “In modern cars you have so many buttons I honestly don’t know what many of them are for.”

Only 2.4 meters long, it fits in a tiny parking space and its front-opening door means occupants won’t be boxed in.

After launching 100 units this year, the brothers from just outside Zurich plan to build 1,500 to 2,000 cars next year, eventually increasing that to 5,000 per year. If they are a hit, annual output could reach 10,000 vehicles.

“We hope this in some small way can contribute to more environmentally friendly mobility,” said Merlin, “but also do it in a fun and cool way.”

La visión del futuro Isetta para una circulación urbana sostenible

Poco a poco la gente se va dando cuenta que no hace falta un todocamino de tres toneladas, o una berlina de 300 CV, para los desplazamientos diarios en las ciudades. Ambientes donde las soluciones deben ser más sencillas, y sostenibles. Con esto en la mente ha nacido un nuevo coche eléctrico, el Microlino.

Se trata de una reinvención del popular Isetta de BMW. Un coche que en su momento ha sido catalogado como una opción casi más barata de desplazarse que andar, y que ahora renace en espíritu de la mano de un sistema de propulsión eléctrico.

Un diseño que ha sido realizado por el emprendedor suizo Wim Ouboter en colaboración con la Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas de Zurich, Suiza. Un ultra urbano con espacio para dos pasajeros en un compacto cuerpo al que deben acceder como el clásico Isetta por una puerta en la parte frontal.

A nivel mecánico el Microlino cuenta con un motor eléctrico de 15 kW, que le permite alcanzar una velocidad máxima de 100 km/h. La batería por su parte es un pack de 11 kWh, que le permiten disfrutar de una autonomía de entre 100 y 120 kilómetros con cada carga. En el aspecto de la capacidad de la batería desde el fabricante se indica que todavía no han decidido si será la cifra que usarán en el modelo de producción. Todo con un peso de 400 kilos.

Para la recarga podremos usar el cable que lleva integrado, y que llega a los 10 metros de largo, mientras que en el tema precios, se estima que llegará al mercado con un coste de entre 8.500 y 12.800 euros según el acabado y equipamiento.

Una solución que combina un diseño clásico de un modelo mítico, con un sistema funcional que nos permite movernos por los entornos urbanos con cierta soltura, y con un bajo coste económico y ambiental.

Un poco de historia

El Isetta fue uno de los microcoches más exitosos producidos en los años posteriores a la Segunda Guerra Mundial; una época en la que se necesitaba un transporte económico y de corta distancia. Aunque el diseño es italiano, se construyó en países como España, Bélgica, Francia, Brasil, Alemania o el Reino Unido. Debido a su peculiar forma de huevo y sus ventanas de burbuja, adquirió el apodo del coche-pompa.
