“This is the third box of chocolates in this bin alone.”

You throw the frilly, silver package onto a large pile of red cardboard and ribbon, on top of another box of neatly wrapped sweets. Some of the gifts with sappy, little valentines written on top, others with pink and white sticky notes.

Bakugo huffs with a pout and an eye roll, in his own hands a stack of rainbow cards he flips through quickly.

“That’s funny.”

You don’t look at him, just continue to paw around in the bin in front of you. You pull out a dark brown teddy bear, it’s fur soft in your hands, and turn to plop it in the pile of things he said that you could keep: stickers, fake flowers, toys.

“Why?”

You don’t even glance at him as you say it, like it doesn’t matter, and he picks at a bit of lace falling off of a large greeting card and snorts.

“Not like I ever got any of this kinda crap in high school.”

You stop your rifling to stare at him, your expression so different than from moments before. “You didn’t get any fan mail in high school?”

You assume he did, at least: he was just as cute back then as he is now… you’ve seen the pictures of that blonde boy, smaller, still scowling, but still any teenager’s dream. He was working as a hero by then, surely he had some sort of fan club.

(You would’ve been amongst them if you had known. Now he’s professional, though, and you only met him through Jirou when you transferred from her team to his.)

“I didn’t get any…” he pauses, his face twisting in a frown, his cheeks going the slightest bit ruddy. “Chocolates and shit. Letters.”

“Katsuki…” he grunts but doesn’t look, your tone incredulous in a way he doesn’t want to address. “You were never confessed to?”

He blows out an angry raspberry, picking up and throwing a bottle of nicely-labeled hot sauce into his own keep pile. It clinks with the rest.

“Don’t fucking rub it in.”

“I’m not!” you try to assure, reaching out for him. “I’m just… a little surprised, is all.”

He glares, wordless and accusatorially, like your giggles are threatening and the vacuum sealed pair of panties you teasingly wave in the air (and he snatches, immediately trashing) are nuclear.

“…’cuz I would’ve thought you got tons. Like now, big boy.”

He turns even more pink. As pink as half the mail room has become with all the love notes sent in for February.

“Yeah, well,” Bakugo tries to move on, grimacing as he picks up a plain envelope that he initially had high hopes for and unfolds it into a long, love poem. “Can’t win ‘em all, I learned.”

And as you throw another box of store-bought chocolates onto the stack, you think you know what you want to get him for Valentine’s Day.

Getting to this late because I wanted to wait until my final fic of the year went live. I posted fics every month except January, which I'm super proud of. I've posted 27 fics (86 if you count ficlets and drabbles separately) with a total word count of 218,348, which is INSANE to me!! on february fourteenth twenty twenty - two, hijinxx would release their second extended play addiction: take down on all streaming platforms.

five tracks to the ep’s name, the group would come back after two months since their previous digital release sweet juice, the song acting as a segue into the new body of work.

ahyeon is credited across the board on the ep, from lyrics to composition to the final arrangements. #ahyeonfirstwin! it did spark a lot of fans worried about her being already so overworked… but she was quick to assure fans that her passion could never be draining to her.

take down is described as the first breaking point. if sweet juice is them indulging themselves to their fill, answering the call and falling to their respective demise, take down is the first inkling of something truly wrong. it’s the weird gut feeling when things are too still for the actions you’ve committed, sinking to nestle in your stomach to fester slowly. slowly do you begin to realize what you’ve done and the first thing you do is panic as your actions cannot be undone. your prayers go unanswered and your begging falls on deaf ears. the consequences are yours and yours alone to bear. still, you blame outside forces on the choices you made with your own two hands.

each song can yet again be interpreted as a look into each entity’s experience through their respective turbulent time. in order, as well. with ahyeon vowing to topple each obstacle in take down to yuina’s confession during the bridge of chasing dreams, the girls then come together to collectively blame love as their reason out. and isn’t it so convenient to always have a way out?

STYLING & COMMENTARY.

the idea was to show the slow progression of deterioration due to lack of self - regulation. the outfits start in their usual coordinated but detailed to each member fashion, but as they perform more and more stages, each entity slowly begins to become sluggish—shown through ripped seams or loosely draped fabric. of course, in order, the changes were noticeable in yuina first, then eunji, followed then by micha and ahyeon.

All Xiao ever wanted was to simply spend time in your company, free from worries or concerns, and without any distractions or interruptions that could pull you apart. He imagined the perfect Valentine's Day as not much more than a calm and serene occasion, one spent solely with his other half.

A dream that he was fully intent on achieving.

If you ever gifted him with something physical, be it a helpful tool or a small token representative of your love, he would gladly accept it before looking deeply into the windows of your soul with his eyes of vibrant amber. He would hold onto the gifted object and your hand with the most delicate touch. As the two of you exchanged kind and loving looks with one another, he was the happiest.

With a gentle whisper and the evening sun illuminating the inn, he confessed, "I only need you, not these possessions. They mean nothing to me without you by my side." 🍫💘🎡Candy Cupid Carnival Chapter Summeries🍫💘🎡

Has Valentines Day passed, yes

Do I care, no

(I sincerely did want to try and write more for this event but the most I was able to come up with were chapter summeries so this is what we have)

Chapter 1:

 Dulcisregnum is chosen as the Valentines Day dorm to hold an event, Yuu gets involved too as prefect.

Chapter 2:

 The dorm chooses a theme and are given their instructions to build the carnival, the next day (Day 1) Yuu is given the task of helping Temperance beg Crowley and fail to do so. 

Chapter 3:

Temperance gets an idea and leaves the NRC campus for the day, with the free time Yuu now heads to Dulcisregnum to check up on the others, Luxolite is repurposing the karts into bumper-cars,Terrence is working on spreading the word, Willa has been tasked with commissioned secret valentine gift baskets and Vincent is on firework duty. 

Chapter 4:

Due to not having a date Yuu starts up some banter with the first-year group about their own love lives at lunch. In the end they all decide to go to the carnival together.

Chapter 5:

Temperance arrives back at the end of the school day with monetary and physical backup to speed up the creation of the candy carnival.

Chapter 6:

Yuu heads back home for the night and meets Grim as they both talk about romance and who they ship.

Chapter 7:

(Day 2) After fending off his fangirls Yuu helps Terrence spread the word about the carnival and they both share a bonding moment.

Chapter 8:

Soon afterwards Yuu gets a text message from Temperance and the two head back to Dulcisregnum as Temp has bought “magic arrows bracelets” that give off a temporary in-love effect to those who wear them. Due to their rarity Temperance basically planned to sell them to make up for going over budget.

Chapter 9:

The next day (Day 3) everything seems alright, the dorm is counting down the days to Valentine's Day, and all seems well, until Temperance discovers that the magic arrow bracelets have gone missing. To make things worse a troll account on magicam has started a rumor that claims that people who spend their valentine's day in NRC will break up soon. Causing NRC to go trending in a bad way and giving RSA good PR in the process.

 Chapter 10: 

As Yuu watches the rumor spread around NRC they are invited back to Dulcisregnum to brainstorm ideas for damage control.

Chapter 11:

Before the meeting begins Yuu finds Willa in the main room being closed off by herself, after some questioning Willa finally breaks and reveals that she is the culprit behind the missing bracelets. She furthermore explains that she doesn’t understand why everyone around her is obsessed with love as she never grasped non familial love before.

Chapter 12:

As Willa finishes explaining herself it turns out that Temp and co were actually listening in on the conversation. Despite the major setback of the rumor Willa gives back the bracelets to Temperance and the group get everything ready for the carnival tomorrow.

Chapter 13:

Valentines Day finally arrives and A LOT of confessions are made, some are mutual others sadly not. Despite that there is a lot of chatter about how the RSA Valentines day event has at the last minute fallen through. Deciding to ignore it  Yuu invites Willa to attend the carnival with the 1st year group together as friends, agreeing Willa gets permission and the 1st year group go out to the candy carnival together.

Chapter 14:

There ends up being a bigger turnout for the carnival than imagined. As the night goes on the 1st years go on the bumper cars, win plushies and due to losing a bet go on the tunnel of love which is a violent rollercoaster. During the night Yuu and Willa do run into the other members of Dulcisregnum running the Valentine's Day attractions.

Chapter 15:

With the night being an overall success, the dorm members come together on a hill to see the fireworks Vincent set up go off to close the night, with a very, VERY loud bang.
