So I realised something today.

This, in voltron canon, is what an all-powerful, all-knowing interdimensional being looks like:

(No, I don’t mean a goofy looking alien, but the way he appears in the stars.)

And this is what we see at the very end of s8:

I have no doubt that that’s Allura. Since she recreated every reality, she became one of these all-knowing beings. Essentially, a god. So basically (and nothing can really disprove this seeing as voltron is finished lol) Allura might have sacrificed herself, but she’s still out there. Maybe not doing weird game shows in people’s minds but... she’s not gone.

I’m not at all saying that her dying was a good thing, or that I liked it in any way, just that realising this gave me a little more closure with voltron and how it ended.

I will add my thoughts from twitter.

I thought I could handle it. Many canons were cruel to their fans. I love the dead characters of many canons. But then I started crying. It was important to hope. I will not watch #vld8. But I am grateful to the voltron for lovely sheith-shippers. 

I forever #sheith. Sorry.

I thought it would be a beautiful epic season. I thought it would end ambiguously. With small hints for couples. No more. I would like all the shippers to have hope. I would like everyone to be alive and happy. This is probably too much. But in real life, pain is enough.

I love this strong woman Allura. She will always be happy. I do not believe in another future for her.

I love how the same Voltron poster got so many different shippers pumped

Sheith shippers: “Omg, look at Shiro’s left hand! Looks like something was erased. Why did they hide Keith’s left hand? They must have been wearing wedding rings!”

Klance Shippers: “Omg, look at their hands! Why are their hands hidden behind Lance? They must be holding hands! (*proceed to draw 10000 fan arts of Keith and Lance holding hands*)

Allurance shippers: “Omg, look at how Lance is looking at Allura! You can see how he loves her so much! Allurance canon confirmed!”

Lotura shippers: “Omg, why is Allura looking back? If you follow the exact trajectory of her eyes you will see that it matches Lotor’s height perfectly. Lotor will be back and they are still in love!”

I’m not sure if this fandom is the best or the worst but I love it xD We should all stop shipping wars though, and just bond over how crazy we all are ;)

But listen-- if Allura isn’t dead, and has gone to rule the Altean Colony, why did Coran not go with her?

 He’s in both pictures with the paladins in front of Allura’s statue, both when they are young and when they are older...

Allura is Coran’ princess, Alfor’s legacy. What possible reason would he have not to leave with her to be with their people???
