The the rebels pinned and without any other plans, they have to rely on the most volatile teenager in space. Surely Pidge could come up with something to save the others, right?

A Thing for Keith [Pages 1 & 2]
*Takes place some time after Keith has been working on and off with the Rebel fighters for a while
The idea that Matt would be the last on the team to figure out Rolo’s crush makes me giggle and is the whole reason this thing is being created. Also, Keith would absolutely be more likely to understand Nyma’s comment as people not wanting him around instead of some people just being extra excited to see him 😭 somebody give my baby an extra dose of love and affection please
Also. I could not find a name for our green, four-armed alien friend anywhere, but I called them Kitch in my notes. It was just the first name that came to mind when creating a placeholder for writing the idea for this little comic out, but it’s stuck now, and Im tagging them as such lol

Pidge having been captured by Galra soldiers trying to force a cell door open: -SPINELESS LITTLE PARASITES! WHEN I GET OUTTA HERE, I'M GONNA WRITE MY QUIZNACKING MEMOIRS IN YOUR MOTHER'S BLOOD!
Guard 1 trying to keep the door shut: Nez! Nez! What do we do?! I can already feel my grip slipping!
Guard 2: Alright! Alright! Everything's gonna be fine! I have a plan!
Guard 1: Okay, l-lay it on me
Guard 2: I'm gonna go...
Guard 1: I HATE THIS PLAN!!
Guard 2: No, no, it's fine! I-I'm just gonna go get the Commander! He'll know how to deal with...
*Pidge trying to rip the cell bars off while growling*
Guard 2: ...all of... this...
Guard 1: No! NEV, NO! DON'T YOU DARE! DON'T YOU LEAVE ME WITH HER!!
Guard 2, running off: You've got this!
*silence as Pidge stops trying to rip the door off*
Pidge grinning creepily: Heyyy Morkov....
Guard 1:...*begins crying*
*Far away in the different part of the universe where Matt has escaped the galra*
Olia being shown a photo of Matt and Pidge when they were younger: She seems so gentle, like an angel.
Matt: Heh, yeah. Lucifer, maybe....

Star Wars Analysis - An Eternal Cycle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"History tells us that, given enough time, all empires will fall. But if we do not also come to understand how and why they rise, we will remain trapped in this cycle forever." (Kin, Beaumont, "Introduction", The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, 35 ABY, page ix)
"This is democracy. It is strange. And it is messy. It's not about getting it right. It's about trying to get it right. Yes, it's a bit chaotic. Certainly we will get some things wrong. The Empire? They cared nothing for democracy. They valued order above everything else. They wanted to be right so badly that anybody who even hinted at getting it wrong or doing it differently was branded the enemy and thrown in a dark prison somewhere. They destroyed other voices so that only their own remained. That is not us. We will not always get it right. We will never have it perfect. But we will listen. To the countless voices crying out across the galaxy, we have opened our ears, and we will always listen. That is how democracy survives. That is how it thrives..." Olia Choko
"The truth of the matter is, we have lost this war. The Empire as we knew it is gone. Already we were letting it slip when the Rebel Alliance grew in unseen spaces like a cancer. For us, this represents an opportunity to reshape ourselves... It is on us to retake and control the narrative. What will our story be? What—or who—is the Empire?" Gallius Rax
Before and during the Battle of Jakku comic, I've pondered the overarching conflict between the New Republic and the Resistance against the various Imperial Remnants, the most infamous of these remnants being the First Order. There are three phases to this overarching conflict: the final year of the Galactic Civil War, the Thrawn Campaign, and the Second Galactic Civil War (Rise and Fall did use the FO-Resistance War, but it's pretty much another Galactic Civil War. Some funny coincidence is both conflicts happened over one year and involved a son of Leia and Han becoming the big bad. I can see the conflict being renamed). All three conflicts represent a cycle that persisted in the galaxy for three decades: the struggle to preserve and safeguard freedom and democracy and how Fascism continues to survive despite its evils being well-known.
The New Republic and the Imperial Remnants teaches us that building a new democracy in the ashes of Fascism is an arduous task, and evil doesn't simply fade away, but it evolves till it's ready to strike once again. However, even when all hope is lost, a new generation will always rise up to prevent the work of their parents from being undone by a generation lost to a new wave of Fascism.
However, as Beaumont Kin points out, another problem comes after the fight. How do we prevent Fascism from rising again? The Empire was beaten, yet the Empire simply evolved into the First Order. While the First Order collapsed within one year of their rule, it shows how easy it is for evil to return.
After the Battle of Jakku comic run concludes, I want to further explore the three conflicts of the New Republic and the Resistance against the Imperial Remnants and the First Order. Hopefully, by also revisiting the various stories of the conflicts, I can better understand the themes that each conflict showcases regarding the struggle for true freedom and democracy. I will also give my thoughts on each arc of the comic run. Until then, we shall wait and see how the Battle of Jakku comic concludes to properly analyze the final year of the GCW.

She may be blind, but Pidge isn't deaf. Or helpless. From hearing well due to focusing and feeling what's around her, she knows how to learn new things without sight.

some fun facts about the zombie apocalypse au to start the morning with:
the Garrison survivors know for a fact that Keith has the potential to spread the infection because they tested it :)
(oh that's not a fun fact at all)
what's a zombie apocalypse au without someone having to get their arm amputated to prevent the spread of the infection. sorry Shiro.
also sorry Keith, since he's the one who has to cut the arm off.
but hey! at least later on down the line, Shiro can get himself a cool Altean prosthetic! thanks, Coran.
Allura might not be able to send the paladins home, but as early as Olkarion, she starts to send supply runs to Earth via wormhole. The supply network grows as the Voltron Coalition does, giving the people of Earth their first real sense of hope in a long time.
The downside is that the whole universe learns that the red paladin is a carrier for the same disease that's the source of all Earth's problems. between that and the knowledge that he's half-Galra, he gets the cold shoulder from a lot of their allies.
(but Allura just makes note of the ones who DON'T, and views them as her most trusted allies)
Matt tags along when one of the supply ships return to space, because excuse you, he can't let his baby sister fight a space war alone.
Kolivan and the Blade of Marmora take some precautions in relation to Keith, since he could potentially infect the Galra as well, but it's nothing even remotely close to the stringent procedures that Admiral Sanda had in place.
Keith has totally lost the knack of getting close to people, and doesn't truly get it back until he's stuck on the back of a space whale with his mom for two years and has no choice.
Pidge, Hunk, and Lance all eventually lose their nervousness around Keith, even as he still keeps them at an arm's length. I mean, if the infection was going to spread to his brain, it would have done so by now, right?
all I'm saying is. the black paladins episode is in reverse :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
When Dr. Yap says, "Hope you like going to bed before you even get up, 'cause it's so early, suckas!" that's fucking stupid because ofc they're going to bed before they get up that's how it works. Everyone always goes to bed before they wake up, that's the sequence of events it's how it happens.
