NuclearBlood

I decided to make my soul-sona for @federthenotsogreat ‘s story My Crown in Red (MCIR). I got inspired after reading so much of Feder’s lore for MCIR.

NuclearBlood (gender fluid) was born without their arms and has adapted to life without them. Growing up, NuclearBlood was interested in the history of radioactivity, nuclear bombs, nuclear plants, nuclear plant meltdowns, any precautions taken to minimize the damage, and the consequences of nuclear waste on wildlife/people for decades. He would always be caught reading a library book about uranium, going on websites about how far a range a nuclear bomb had and simulating it on different towns, and trying to devise their own bomb. This didn’t go over well with their school, but NuclearBlood didn’t give a shit.

This is reflected in her soul. NuclearBlood is extremely unpredictable. Most of the time he is calm, but you never know when she’ll blow up. She’ll hold details against someone or tear them to pieces (thanks to her good memory). And when they go off, it’s a shitstorm - buildings are destroyed and tainted with radioactivity, and the effects stay around for a long time. While the impact is more felt on locals of a universe, the radioactivity can slowly decay at the other souls’ power and health (but never kills, only slows down the process of regeneration). His blind eye can detect radioactivity levels. Her goal is to carry out nuclear bomb experiments on universes and connections between universes to see what happens.

He feels himself rotting; someone needs to stop her before she undergoes complete decay.

Fantasy Verse:

Severen’s family owned a farm in contested territory, frequently met with issues when whichever ruler had staked their claim at the moment came to collect. They did what they could to scrape by, but it was clear that the land they were attempting to cultivate would more likely burn to the ground than pass down through their lineage. Because of this, his family sought ways in which to make their ends meet at whatever personal cost.

A knight seeking a squire took on Severen, more out of pity than anything else, and the boy took to the training well. Although not very disciplined, he was a natural in the arts of combat and had a determination to excel that was unquenchable. Unfortunately, the knight he served under died in another ill conceived war, leaving Severen without another to take him. Turned out to the streets with what little he had, and no friends to call upon, he fell into the only profession available to one of his status: banditry.

Severen gained some renown for his deeds, having a penchant for unwavering brutality, and little in the means of a moral code. Mercenaries would recruit him as an addition to their ranks, but none would keep him on long term as he was insufferably indolent. In his middle age, as an act of retribution, he was sent out on a mission that turned into an ambush. They tricked him into a forest where a horrid, bloodthirsty creature lay in wait. What they had planned as the end of The Savage One became his rebirth, as he felled the creature, but not before realizing what it was; using the infection of its blood and bite for his own purposes. He transformed himself into the monster he is today. A  shadow cloaked Reaper, a violent tempest that roams through cities and towns causing chaos at his own delight.

It occurred to me today that when I wrote A Matter Of Opinion, Jazz's whole plot was like a game of Canasta. This of course made me want to write a confrontation between her and Batman where she does the whole villain monologue comparing how he was treating her like a chess opponent while she was playing Canasta. So, I looked up the Wikipedia article for Canasta and I found out that the way my family plays it is NOT, in fact, the "official" way to play it and the friendship ruining aspect of the game is not a feature. Shocked and confused, I am.

What do you mean the game is supposed to be over in 60 minutes??? No! The game lasts until someone gets to a set number of points, usually 1,000, and can last for hours at a time! What do you mean it's 6 players max??? No! It's however many warm bodies you have in the building with you, just keep adding 2 more decks of cards when you go over 6 players! You can play with PARTNERS?!?!? OUR GAMES ARE ALWAYS EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF!!!!
