Sol Magee
(For a little extra context about this character, go here.)
My very first fanego based off of Ash from GtLive
Since EldritchPlier has a human friend/ally/follower, it’s only fair that LeviathanPat gets a mortal companion, too. (After all, I created him—along with Caliban and my other EgoPats—because I wanted some characters to parallel some of Mark’s egos.) This means Sol gets some sick bragging rights due to being one of very few humans who can hang out with L.P. without the risk of death or insanity.
Her friendship with L.P. revolves around The Abnormal Orchard, a macabre museum built on the primary portion of L.P.’s territory on Earth. On top of showcases a collection of preserved specimens and oddities (many of which are the results of L.P.’s “experimenting hobby”), it also doubles as a  horror/surreal art gallery (many of which come with some nasty old curses).
In fact, Sol actually came to the museum before they ever even met L.P.. She inherited the property a couple months after the former owner—a relative of hers—died under very strange circumstances. (That’s a story for another day, but let’s just say professional morticians were…a little shocked. Flabbergasted, you might say. Bamboozled, even.)
If you’ve read this story of mine, then you already know that L.P. was kept imprisoned in an underground cavern for at least a few millennia. However, despite all the distance between him and other living entities, he still had a strong psychological connection to his territory. So, of course, he can sense pretty much everything that goes on in/around The Abnormal Orchard. Meaning he sensed when Sol arrived. It didn’t take very long for her to hear his voice in her head while she moved into the private suite that was built close to the museum itself.
Now, irl Ash is nothing if not the personification of “Be Gay, Do Crime” and Sol here is no different. Much like Cruz, they have a disturbing knack for being casual when faced with the supernatural. Only, Sol has even more unconventional energy when it comes to their projects. Enough unconventional energy to have ended up genuinely impressing L.P. (Yeah, that's right! Sol is the type to go for LEATHER JACKETS instead of CLOAKS for rituals!)
Interactions between the two of them were symbiotic at first, but that still managed to grow into legit casual bonding (as casual as you can get with an outer monstrosity, that is). All the while, L.P. decided to teach Sol the ins and outs of occultism, whereas Sol put rituals/offerings together for him.
When L.P. finally managed to escape his prison, the first thing he did (after taunting the unfortunate characters who released him by accident) was travel to The Abnormal Orchard and officially meet Sol in person, who welcomed him with open arms and helped him make a proper lair in the building's attic.
In the way of a ceremonial tool, Sol has a trusty flint-striker knife! Yes, it's smaller than Cruz's gut-hook skinner knife. NO, YOU SHOULD NOT UNDERESTIMATE IT BECAUSE OF THAT. It's absorbed plenty of paranormal juju from all of Sol's shenanigans; it can cut much, much deeper (and therefore draw much more blood) than you'd think. Oh, and its striking half can produce both simple sparks and lashing flames. Just depends on circumstance. (Also, Sol would totally go out of her way to use rainbow flint for the striking. Because, again: "Be Gay, Do Crime...")
Macaroon ain't the only vaguely cat-shaped monstrosity out here! Enter Charcoal: Sol's questionable emotional/moral support, based off of irl Ash's very own Charlie! Where Macaroon was a gift from E.P. to Cruz, Charcoal was a stray alley cat that L.P. guided Sol to find and take in. One complex-yet-strangely-wholesome ritual later, she learned that some cats out there have apparently evolved from DRAGONS. (Hey, c'mon, I've gotta keep a fire-theme going.) Since Charcoal is allowed to roam The Abnormal Orchard at pretty much all hours, he has a glamor to wear around humans other than his owner. But when it comes to rituals, black fur pulls away to reveal a dark scaled, horned, fire-breathing, wyvern-esque wing and barbed-tail having lil' beastie.
Their ritual protection mask is heavily inspired by this one I just happened to find one evening. Of course, I don’t want to plagiarize, so I had to make a few tweaks to the design-concept in my head. For one thing, the eye-holes would come with a pair of small glass lenses; that way, the user can still see without risk of going blind or having their eyes turn into baby-heads or whatever.  For another thing, rather than leather, the material would likely be painted porcelain or something similar—since irl Ash and Matt were both theater kids, I wanted to reference those classic masquerade costumes. And for a final thing, it comes with the outline of a mouth. Specifically speaking, a toothy mouth like the one of this other mask. Here’s the catch, though: Sol’s mask would have a combination of smile on the left side, and frown on the right side (again, to reference classic theater masks. Specifically Comedy and Tragedy).

Mr. Cheapo’s (Mineola) shopping list, 2018.
I hate to break this to everyone, but I suffered three weeks of losses. I’m not ready to disclose the results yet, but it was a heavily-anxious three weeks of seeing and experiencing everything over-amplified. All this year I forgot how it felt to be feeling down, and then it hit. Opportunities taken away, isolation in crowded places, mechanics failing, it goes on. When it rains, it pours. Hard.
So what do you do? You call on friends and family. Hopefully they have the answers and alleviation to your personal turbulation. You also can go record-shopping, what I haven’t done in two months. Money was put in the bank again and I been ordering books and tees furiously. Because you must do you. No matter what’s going on in the background world, you need to keep going forward. What you take is up to you.
I arrived at Cheapo’s in Mineola. It’s the only independent store with two locations, the other which is in Commack. The last time I went to the Mineola location was with my ex- Yenny which I scored Sun Ra’s Astro Black, some Redd Foxx comedy albums on vinyl, and Lonnie Liston Smith on disc, all during a summer of great involvement and intense conflict. This time, a visit to Cheapo’s Nassau locale was nagging me. Now here I am.
Not even my first minute in the store and I see Richie Cole’s New York Afternoon for $3.00. The albums’ title track was part of a personal mixtapes which was (sadly) the soul of Hurricane Sandy that devastated Long Island’s south shore. So was “Texas Ann” from Joe Beck’s self-titled album. And how did a clean copy of Dott & Night School’s Carousel e.p. get priced for only $2.00? Then I head to the back of the store where they housed the good stuff: the used jazz / fusion, R&B, and hip-hop vinyl section. CBS had their best-of compilations of all their jazz artists at the turn of the Seventies / Eighties. This time, I picked up Lee Ritenour’s and the Tappan Zee label’s, which is the baby of Bob James of “Angela” fame. To my surprise, two Steve Khan albums were sitting there waiting to be taken. One was Tightrope which had “Darlin’ Darlin’ Baby”, a Seventies staple of my Brooklyn Atari youth which always gets at least 10 repeats for every initial play. Hank Crawford was an acquisition as was Chick Corea’s Return To Forever which had that specific version of “Crystal Silence”, a definitive sentimental watermark of that said conflicting summer.
Now this was where I hit it big: the hip-hop and single sections. Both vinyl and disc. I really hit the jackpot. In the vinyl bins: a beat-up Hi-Tek record for six. A Schoolly D single for two. And, Jemini The Gifted One, an artist you almost never hear of as he’s underground. In the singles section, many dollar singles found in golden-era rap, dancehall, and reggae I always heard on the radio back in the Brentwood era. Mic Geronimo, Shabba Ranks, Rayvon, Little Shawn, Black Moon, Smif-N-Wesson, and D&D All-Stars. That wasn’t all of it though. Cheapo’s hip-hop CD shelves were stuffed. I found at least 15 titles I sorely missed that I could’ve captured during that golden-era. Now they’re finally mine. Wu-Tang Clan, Lords Of The Underground, Milk, Boogie Down Productions, Eric B & Rakim, and more. It’s about time I played catch up for all the titles I should’ve had all along. This was all the music that made backseat summer trips, sitting on friend’s front porches and curbs, walks down the block, cassette mixtapes, and endless gaming nights. Never forget where you came from.
Let’s not forget the punk and hardcore section. Cheapo’s had no 45’s or 7”’s for sale, but I did pick up New Bomb Turks, Easy Action, The Vacancies, and those snot-nosed prick bastards The Nobodys, one of the very few bands who could give The Dwarves a run for their misogynistic penny. Their views, not mine. Finally, Genesis and George Michael, two fail-safe titles of theirs my ma’ always had on in our single-digit Eighties youth. One more peck before I go…lo and behold, there was an unmarked Specials LP in one of the crates under the bins. That was a dollar find because Cheapo’s son called it. For anyone who bought their LPs on Discogs and eBay reading this, tell me how you feel paying collector’s prices for them?
This was a spur-of-the-moment visit. I did say I would give record-shopping a rest. But when stress, tough times, and events around you come at you one lion or tiger after the other, you need a quick reprieve to get the mind off for the better. By going music-shopping, I found myself back to where I should be, worry-free and lots to look forward to. Summer is here. Why throw it all away feeling blue?

EAGLEWING – Eaglewing
Tumblr media

Title: Gears Turning, Brain Burning
 Artist: Cement Tea
 Label: "No sleep till bedtime..."⁣⁣⁣⁣
 Format: Digital⁣⁣⁣⁣
 Release: Jan 28th 2024
Track list:
01] Gears Turning, Brain Burning 02]  Gears Burning, Brain Rotting
Cement Tea returns with a double track release for [nstbt_033]
Almost 3years to the day since he first dropped the Nuts 'n' Donuts E.P on us: https://nosleeptillbedtime.bandcamp.com/album/nuts-n-donuts-e-p
We present to you: Gears Turning, Brain Burning
The first track being the title track of the release, is a highly creative and atmospheric take on a hard techno sound. Filled with rolling kicks, twists and turns, building snare patterns and evolving layers. And those pitched kicks!
Highly original, and unmistakably Cement Tea
Next up is a reworking of the original, but adopting a harsher textured approach.
Gears Burning, Brain Rotting is a more distorted, and industrialized take on his sound. Washy layered vocals, and distorted ambience add a new intensity and dimension to the sound
We hope that you love the tracks as much as we do!
Please feel free to share links to the release, and also give his artist pages below a follow.
Thank you once again Guilherme! 🙏🏻

Listed: Aaron Dooley
Tumblr media
Aaron Dooley is a bass player and composer, originally from Illinois but now living in Denver, Colorado.  He has played in many different bands in a diverse array of genres, including the garage-psych Gay Neighbors, shoegaze-y Totem Pocket and neo-soul Dog Tags, but more recently has dipped into improvisation and jazz.  Jennifer Kelly reviewed his most recent album, The International Disassociation of, noting that “This second outing of 2023 from Aaron Dooley’s seven-piece jazz ensemble shimmers and shifts, an indefinite haze of sound breaking, sporadically, for clear flights of melody. Dooley, a bass player out of Denver, plunks a subtle, unsettling undertow, allowing other instruments — pedal steel, saxophone, even drums — to slip to the forefront. All improvised, these cuts absorb multiple points of view into free-flowing inquiry, not muddying them, but softening the edges.” Here are ten of Dooley’s favorites.
Yusef Lateef — Cry! Tender
youtube
Around age 16, this was probably the first record I ever bought (thanks North Street Records), let alone the first jazz that ever gripped me. Something about the smooth-looking bald guy with a flute on the cover grabbed me, but the sounds coming from the platter kept me coming back again and again. Songs like “Dopolous” sway along with such eerie elegance that even the swing rhythms feel like a somber march. A fun tidbit, Ernie Farrow, Alice Coltrane’s half-brother, is playing bass on the album.
Shlohmo — Shlo-Fi E.P.
youtube
I remember my friend Jacob Dilley hipping me to Shlohmo one Sunday morning. It was better than church. I hadn’t ever heard anything quite like it before. Beats, samples, found sounds arranged in a way that was almost spiritual. A lifelong Shlohmo fan, I’m happy to see his sound and career evolve, but those first Shlohmo releases between 2009 and 2011 sounded like treasure unearthed from the concrete. Probably the first artist to open the door to my love for non-lyrical music.
John Frusciante — Shadows Collide With People
youtube
That’s right hipsters, it’s the guy from Red Hot Chili Peppers. And Flea and Chad Smith are the backing band. But Anthony Keidis is nowhere to be found, so some might argue it’s the best RHCP album there is. I could give a whole dissertation on this album, but basically, it was a great healing force when it came into my life, and made me aware and appreciative of sounds that would lead me to where I am today.
Herbcraft — The Astral Body Electric
youtube
I believe it was September 1st, 2015, that Matt LaJoie played at Reverberation Vinyl. Herbcraft’s performance was inspiring and transcendent to say the least. I’ve loved everything Matt has put out, but those early Herbcraft records hold a special place in my heart. Before that point, I don't think I had any actual awareness of the country’s underground psych scene, but everything came full circle when I had the honor to play with Matt at Reverberation Vinyl this last May.
Jaco Pastorius — Solo
youtube
Every electric bass player owes something to Jaco. The heaviest bass nerds could go on for days about all the doors he opened (or kicked free from the hinges), but for me this particular solo encapsulates everything I like about Jaco as a player: running the bass through chorus and delay/reverb to create otherworldly tones with harmonics, riding the line between melody and the abstract, and grooving into a rock song like “Third Stone From the Sun.” When I saw this in like 2008, I realized jazz and rock were perhaps more similar than I had once thought. Also, my love for harmonics was sealed forever.
Shigeto — No Better Time Than Now
youtube
This is a strong contender for my desert island album. I don’t think Shigeto (Zachary Saginaw) has gotten the love he deserves for his approaches to music making like many of his contemporaries. The way the live instruments, his drumming in particular, blend with the electronic automations to create a sound that threads beautifully between genres. Electric perfection.
Primal Scream — Swastika Eyes (Jagz Kooner Mix)
youtube
For the last few years, I’d probably say Primal Scream has been my favorite band. Far beyond Screamadelica, the whole Primal Scream discography hits a lot of zones I’ve considered my favorites throughout the years. Bobby Gillespe has always seemed to be politically well-minded, and the way his laid-back delivery blends with noise rock onslaughts and sweaty club pulsations really does it for me. Whether folks want to admit it or not, I hear a lot of their influence in what’s happened musically over the last 15 years.
Ron Miles — Circuit Rider (2015-06-29) Monument National
youtube
I had the honor of studying with Ron Miles for a year or so during my time at MSU Denver. Brief as it was, I am forever grateful for it. I owe it to Ron for giving me the confidence to record the Trapped in Purgatory album and I am disappointed that he passed before its release. He seemed to respect my knack for music history and the last time I saw him, he asked me where he should start with krautrock. I hope he went home and checked out some CAN that night.
Gimo
Tumblr media
A well of infinite talent and spirit and forever on the right-side of history, I can’t really find the words to properly express the influence Gimo has had on my life. They’ve given me more love than I deserve, and I don’t know how to adequately state the influence they’ve had on me. The most incredible artist, they did the cover of my Dooley Noted album, and are currently tattooing at Wild Wind Tattoo in Chicago. Find them on IG @i_am_gimo and book a tattoo appointment with them if you're in Chicago; you won’t regret it!
John Anderson, Reverberation Vinyl
Tumblr media
The mentor. The influencer. The psychedelic stepdad. It’s hard to state the love and respect I’ve got for John. I wouldn’t be doing what I am musically without his guidance. He’s turned me on to quite a bit of good tunes and has gotten me to go across the country more than once for a music pilgrimage. Not including the numerous heads John’s brough to his store, Reverberation Vinyl, I owe much of my connection to the country’s music underground to his networking. Hope I can continue to make you proud, buddy.

Terrorzone - Originators of the " Beatdown style" of New York Hardcore music, along with brother band Bulldoze, emerged as two of the most brutal hardcore bands to come out of the second wave of N.Y. Hardcore, along with the likes of "Agnostic Front", Biohazard, Murphy's Law, Madball, Merauder , Sheer Terror, and many more, exploded onto the club and Ballroom underground circuit, creating legendary status with a Street Gang approach mixed with fast hardcore punk beats and slow grinding ominous breakdowns, forged a tough guy image for the bands fans to identify with as part of its genre. Mosh pits and Pile-on's ensuing at every show, that even the biggest followers cautiously deciding to be part of the carnage of "The Pit", Aggression and Physical confrontation being the attraction for those that dare dance. Kev-one, the lead singer of both Terrorzone and Bulldoze, was on a spiritual quest during the recording and the live performances during this time, always searching for a resolution to his spiritual inquisition. The band had only a short period of time to record this 5 cut E.P. before Kev-One had to a bid of time for an altercation that ended in Kev-One serving 2 and a half years in a N.Y. state prison, only to be released to continue his song writing, performing and recording career, this project infusing Krishna beliefs and imagery into the jaw breaking sonic Metal/ Hardcore sound that set the standard for this sub-genre. Playing on this groundbreaking album, original band member, legendary Metal/ Hardcore/ Punk Rock drummer, Paul Zlotucha, laying down the thunder who's heavy pounding drum technique solidified Terrorzone's iconic violent sounding, " Take it out in the Pit" aggressive approach to the music to entice even the youngest fan, willing to participate in getting out their aggressions through the bone crushing sounds that the band forged. Inner band turmoil, eventually disbanding the group only added to the groups mythical, mysterious demise. Original member, guitarist Jerry G. Digital Underground: “Same Song” (1991)
“Same Song” was once released for Digital Underground’s This Is An E.P. Release (1991) but became its own single for the Nothing But Trouble movie soundtrack. You look at the single’s cover and wish that hip-hop / rap can go back to when artists could poke fun at themselves and not take themselves seriously with all this fake theatric bullshit. Only Digital Underground could do something as silly and humorous with what they did and sadly for a few years before being unceremoniously dropped by their label. Biz Markie’s gone and so has Shock G / Humpty Hump. 2Pac, who also appeared in the video for the single? He’s been gone for 25 years. The only things that are funny in hip-hop now are Skittle-teeth rappers with criminal records, text-message drama, those racist muppets Die Antwoord, and loudmouth shit-stains cancelling themselves at large music festivals. Get the fuck out of here.

Significant Other: E.P. ( @chain-of-strays )

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first image is the rework, the second adds a visor, and the third image is the original design. The changes are that vis wings are now bronze, the fins on the side of vis head are now bronze wings, vis visor is bronze (orange from the filter), and the iris of vis injured eye is now existent in the shape of a star.
Bronze Wing is a quiet person, who spends vis time playing volleyball and caring for vis brothers. Ve is also rumored to participate in underground boxing rings.
Ve has one special move for volleyball, called Meteor Spike. Ve spikes the ball from up high, and the ball flies down ablaze like a comet, and is too terrifying to try to hit.
Wing is the middle sibling in the Bronze Trio, and the most mature.
Vis left eye is mysteriously damaged, and sees the world in a different way. Everything appears out of space material, with most living beings appearing like the night sky. Some individuals, like Fighter Spirits and Set's boyfriend E.P., have very unique appearances to ver.
"I saw you at that game. You’re really bright… My left eye sees things… differently. Most people resemble the night sky. But you… You’re pure light.” Said to E.P. during their first meeting.

THE END OF SIX THOUSAND YEARS – E.P TEOSTY
Tumblr media
Le line up remanié présente un nouvel E.P via Hypershape Records composé de 3 nouvelles chansons ainsi qu'une reprise «  The man who loves to hurt himself » du groupe de noise américain Today Is The Day .
