Harry Hook x Male!Reader

Warnings: None (lmk if that's wrong)

Audrey Rose, the most popular and recognizable child of Aurora and Phillip. But not many people know or realize that she has a twin brother, Y/N.

He doesn't blame people for not knowing his lineage, he was the complete opposite of his sister. He preferred comfort over style, singularity instead of popularity, and quiet rather than loud. The only one Y/N really talked to was Ben, who would often hang out with the twin when he courted his sister. But even when the VK'S came and he got with Mal, Ben still showed his friendship and even introduced him to the darker group.

And Y/N loved the VK'S.

They just didn't care, and he admired that, without having to talk to much he became close to the small group. They almost took him under their wing and looked out for him. Basically, he never had any issues with Chad once the VK'S started hanging out with him.

So when he heard about Mal running back to the isle and the plan to get her back. He begged to go along. Ben disagreed at first but with some convincing Y/N was allowed to go with.

He had never been so excited for something before, as Evie dressed him and Ben up the clothes felt so nice, the darker tones of red and grey felt suiting, she even made his outfit to be incorporated as a hoodie which he loved.

And then finally they were off.

Ben was very nervous about being there, but with some guidance from Evie, Jay, and Carlos, they got the ways down quite quickly.

They finally made it to Mal's hideout, and Ben went up to talk to her. Y/N waiting for him to return at the bottom of the steps with the others. Though the stomping of his footsteps proved their conversation didn't go to well.

"She's not coming." Ben said annoyed and stomped off through the streets. The others paced and tried to get the attention of Mal. But Y/N ran off to catch up with Ben.

After a small jog he's back at his side, "T-try not to worry to much Ben. Mal's going through a lot, I'm sure she'll come around here soon." He said in a soft tone, trying to comfort the soon to be king.

But Ben just sighs and shakes his head, "I doubt she will, I pushed her to far.."

The two turn a corner, when suddenly they see 2 other shadows, with a low chuckle one spoke. "Well ain't this just perfect, Uma will be please with this catch. A king and a prince, aye now that's somthin' special."

They step into the light, the taller one had a kind smile on his face surprisingly, his eyes set on Ben. "I knew I recognized you Ben! My dad wishes yours would rot in the underworld by the way." Y/N was confused by the guys happiness, and turned to look at the one the spoke earlier, only to find his eyes already on him.

The boy in the red coat smirked, twirling the handheld hook in his hand. "That you did Lad. Now, lets get this crown an' beauty to Uma." And then everything went black. But Y/N wasn't scared, he only thought one thing.

Did that VK really recognize him?

Y/N slowly opens his eyes, the smell of salt water stinging his nose. He squinted and looked around, eyes adjusting to the light, he tries to move, but he finds himself tied up to a pole.

A light chuckle makes him look up, "Welcome back sleepin' beauty, sorry ya didn't geta kiss like your mum." The boy from earlier smirked, but instead of feeling threatened, Y/N's heart skipped a beat, cheeks turn a light shade of red.

"...w-who are you?" He asks in a small voice, earning a large smile from the other boy. "How rude of me, tha names Harry, and I'm sure this piece o' metal can help ya fill in the rest." He answers, twirling it around once again.

He just nods, putting together he was Captain Hooks son. "Your a quiet one aint ya. Never really talkin' much at those fancy meetings up there." Harry comments, a teasing smirk on his face as he looks him up and down.

Y/N's eyes widened at that, "You've.. noticed me? You know who I am?" He asks in such a quiet voice it was barely a whisper. And he watches as Harry's face falls for a second. He goes to answer when Ben starts to wake up. And that crazed facade comes back as he turns his attention onto the young king.

After a few minutes though the other boy who helped capture him who he learned to be Gil announced Mal and the groups arrival. They had actually brought the wand. But when she pretended to use it on dude, Y/N knew that something wasn't right.

But Uma believed it.

Harry cuts the ropes off of Ben and Y/N, complaining about how his fun was ruined, though it felt almost as if his touched lingered a little longer than normal when he cut the ropes off of Y/N.

Then Mal and Uma trade, and the two royals were back with their group.

Mal starts trying to rush Ben away as Uma attempts to use the wand, and like he suspected, it didn't work. And then a big fight breaks lose.

Y/N fights, but nothing to harm anyone, he couldn't do any such thing. Finally they get space between them and the pirates and are getting ready to make an escape, until-

"BEAUTY!!" Y/N hears Harry yell, he looks back and makes eye contact with him, the pirate smirks, still dripping wet from grabbing his hook out of the water, clothes clinging to his body.

"I always noticed ya!" He yells again, answering Y/N's question from before.

He felt is face flare up and his heart drop as he stare into the other boys eyes. Only for the contact to be broken by Jay pulling him to follow out.

In a daze Y/N followed, mind and heart hooked on the pirate that had noticed him..

Random Thought I Had About Super Sinister 13th Birthdays;

Okay, so I don't know how canon this can be considered since Super Sinister Thirteen birthday parties are only mentioned once or twice in the books. 

But I recently found out the canon birthdays of three characters—Uma, Mal, and Evie—and am now struck with a couple of angsty thoughts. 

So, I personally get the impression that Super Sinister Thirteens on the isle are like Sweet Sixteens/a milestone birthday/right of passage—and they’re probably big on the isle, and something the isle kids themselves came up with. I mean, we know given how most of the villains are on top of the limited resources on the isle that a good portion of the isle kids probably never had birthdays/birthday parties. 

What if a Super Sinister Thirteen is something the older isle kids made up to throw themselves a birthday party at least once and it became a sort of right of passage among the isle kids? The day were you were finally considered a villain or something?

It’s the most important birthday on the isle and the only one a lot of the kids have—with some of them not even getting to have that—and all of the kids, and several of the adults know it. 

It’s canon in the books that more people showed up to Mal’s Super Sinister Thirteen than Uma’s. 

It’s canon that Uma and Mal both share a birthday—that they were born on December 31st. 

That alone is angst material. 

Arch enemies, former friends—sharing a birthday—and having more people show up to your enemies’ milestone birthday than yours whether out of fear or just because they genuinely think that your enemy is more evil/important/special than you and it’s better to be seen on their side than yours. 

But then we find out that Evie’s birthday is October 11th. Two months before Uma and Mal’s. 

Evie was still exiled when she was thirteen. 

Was alone with only her mother, her pet parrot Othello, and depending on when her doll was eaten by vultures/dogs (can’t remember which animal it was eaten by), her favorite doll—on what was supposed to be a milestone birthday. 

All because she didn’t invite Mal to her sixth birthday. 

Only that’s not exactly right, is it?

Because Evie was six. She wasn’t in charge of invitations. Her mother was. 

Her mother who probably wouldn’t have listened to her if she said she wanted Mal there or not. 

And in the descendants book ‘The Magic of Friendship’ we see the invitation Evie meant for Mal to have, despite Mal having never got it (correct me if I’m wrong. It’s shown on the wiki but it doesn’t really give context regarding the invitation). 

It doesn’t matter how the invitation didn’t get to Mal—whether it was because a six year old Evie misplaced it, a spiteful Evil Queen wanting to make a grab for power, a test from Maleficent, or something else. It doesn’t matter why the invitation didn’t get to Mal. What matters is that we the audience now know it existed 

That Evie knows it existed and that she made one. 

Which means Evie wasn’t slighting Mal and that she had no reason to expect her sixth birthday party to be ruined by Mal’s mom for ‘not inviting her’. Because as far as little six year old Evie knew she had invited her.

Whether she knows or doesn’t know that Mal didn’t get the invitation after the party is ruined is irrelevant. 

It doesn’t change the outcome. 

Evie is exiled for the next ten years with no companions other than a doll, a parrot, her abusive mom, and maybe goblin servants—including on her birthdays.

Her birthday is October 11th and she was exiled on her thirteenth birthday—on what would have been her milestone Super Sinister Thirteen. 

She’s exiled through no fault of her alone with no friends and no really caring family, and likely doesn’t know the full circumstances behind why because she did invite Mal, didn’t she? (Maybe she starts to question if she ever really did or if her mind just made that up). 

She’s alone on a day where other isle kids with the means to celebrate would be having fun with the rest of the isle kids and their friends. Alone and not allowed to leave her home that functions more as a prison on a day she knows is supposed to be special for isle kids—and then two months later, she gets to watch Mal’s Super Sinister Thirteen celebration (and maybe even Uma’s, depending on how many people showed up and how flashy she was able to make hers) knowing that she was forgotten and abandoned on hers intentionally for something she didn’t even really do. 

The pure angst material is glorious. 

(Don’t think Uma sitting with Gil and Harry almost completely alone in Ursula’s fish and chips on her  Super Sinister Thirteen, fighting back tears because she invited just as many people as Mal had and how she probably had to decorate herself and make everything because Morgana, Ursula, and whoever her father is couldn’t be half assed to help and how there is only so much a thirteen year old with or without the help of an adult, like her Aunt Uliana, can do. ).

(Don’t think of Evie sitting in her windowsill on her birthday, tearful face buried in a pillow as she hugs her doll all while Othello flies around the room squawking ‘unibrow’ and other things the Evil Queen has criticized Evie on or how longingly she must have watched Mal’s celebration from that same windowsill two months later while knowing that she hadn’t really done what she was accused of). 

(And certainly don’t imagine Mal on her thirteenth birthday, having all eyes on her—including that of her mother who punished her for helping a Goblin in the market—and being a nervous wreck or how she was likely thinking about how her father and brother weren’t there. Don’t think about how sharing a birthday with Uma once must have been a wonderful thing and was now a bitter one on that day for both of them—).

Again, I’m likely just overthinking it  but I just wanted to share. 

(Also don’t think about Celia, who’s birthday is October 31st, and how Evie might have also seen Celia’s eighth birthday celebration less than three weeks after her milestone birthday was ignored—given that Dr. Facilier would likely have the means to give Celia a decent one since he runs an arcade, school, and might even do some work on the side to get money. One that could likely be seen from the arcade).

Gifts

Technically still christmas time, so.

Mal: look, she deserves an art set. Not taking criticism. And maybe time to vandalise King Beast's statue... Clothes with hidden pockets and compartments specifically for weapons but still stylish. And a very pointed book about ettiquete from Sea Three.

Evie: hmm, this one pretty shiny book about poisoneers in history. She has heard about most of them, but?? Pretty book? Also lots of stuff for fashion. And a handmade tiara from Dizzy.

Jay: A jacket. Not like, a new one, exactly. Punk leather one. Mal, Evie and Carlos and the rest of their friends made patches for it <3 Also sports gear. A bracelet which is definitely NOT a friendship bracelet from Lonnie, who is running out of nerves.

Carlos: a book of (bad) pick-up lines from Jay. A "free favour" tickets from Mal (she's fae okay). (Similar thing from Ivy but that has extremely specific shit, most of which illegal.) Also some fun tinkering tools.

Carlos, Jay and Evie also collectivelly got a video game, which Mal WILL despise immensely, as if she wasn't the one who got it for them.

Uma: A seapony charm. Yes, it is solid gold. No, you don't wanna know how Harry got it. Also a sword. (Ben banned the VKs from openly exchanging weapons, but in hindsight, he shouldn't have bothered.) A clumsy handmade plushie from Gil, Claudine helped him make it.

Harry: dramatic theatre kid got a leather-bound set of Shakespeare tragedies <3 (and some romances. Look at him.) And weapons. Again, look at him. Harriet got him a watch in a wasted effort to make him on-time (yearly tradition), and CJ somehow managed to get a squeaky toy of a hook.

Gil: yeah I think he'd just enjoy those things with samples of food, so let's go with that. Also a trip! The Lost Revenge crew totally sailed between Christmas and New Year's Eve. A handmade charm from Claudine.

Ben: First off, he has been forcibly dragged along by afforementioned pirate crew. Vacation for the child king and all that. Mal jokingly got him a pyjama set with his face on it (a jab at the swimming trunks with crowns), and a locket with their photo inside.)

Audrey: yeah. Clothes. Jewelry. Lots of cosmetics. She is a princess okay. She got a bracelet from Chad specifically and T-shirt with custom text from Sea Three. She refuses to put it on.

Lonnie: Lots of weapons. And an offer to spar with like a scary amount of Isle kids. A handmade charm from Jane. She is also on board of Lost Revenge, officially cos she is Ben's bodyguard. Unofficially cos the pirates really wanna fight her.

Jane: New handmade jewelry from Carlos <3 They exchanged that <3 A necklace from Audrey that was originally pointedly chosen to be better than whatever Carlos chose, but ultimately swapped for subtler charm that Jane will like more.

Freddie: a shiny artifact that was 100% stolen from a museum by CJ. It might or might not be blood magic. Also shiny make-up and tickets for her favourite singer.

Celia: a handmade tarot pack from Dizzy (yes, it is incredibly shiny.) A cookbook for cakes specifically cos why not. A set of fun earrings.

Dizzy: craft supplies!! Lots of it!! An official offer to intern for Evie (that is not legally binding OR legal but thrilled her anyway). (I'd like to add that ALL of her relatives got a handmade set of earrings, including Anthony. He WILL wear it or so help him God.)

Anthony: the afforementioned (horrible, loud) earrings. A freaking insult buquet from Dulcia, cos of course she did. A really nice fountainpen & fancy writing set cos he'd enjoy that and Harriet and Ginny know that.

Chad: He might or might not have gotten a hadwritten "How to be a good henchman" from Celia (annonymously). A custom phone case from Audrey, it has their selfie on it.

Dulcia: fairy/vampire/whatever smut. I am not taking criticism, as she is my OC. Also jewelry; diamonds are a girl's best friend. (No, she does NOT wanna know where the Hearts got it or if it's cursed, thank you.)

Ivy: High heels. This dumb selfie stick that was a trend few years back. A self-help book from Diego (fuck him). Claudine embroidered her a shirt.

Diego: stage make-up and stuff for music (tm). Carlos got him a "Why are dogs best friends of humans <3" brochure and NO, Diego still won't make an effort to make friends with Dude, thank you. I also really wanna say leather coat but that feels like poor taste.

Ginny: Hair care products that she WILL disregard in favour of spending inordinate amount of time at the Tremaines, which Anthony - who gave it to her anyway - won't mind all that much. Free dose from Maddy. Maddy also learned what stim toys are and immediately proceeded to get Ginny one (in a failed effort to stop her from tugging at her hair so much, the only thing Maddy and Anthony can agree on). Jewelry. Origin, as always, best unknown.

Harriet: Weapons. Obviously. (The rubber sword from CJ doesn't count. Neither do the sunglasses with palms and giant glittery Party On). Alcohol which was... Improved by Ginny (& Maddy), Sammy and Anthony are legitimately concerned for her life. A really nice journal, I think she'd enjoy that. A starmap of the sky <3

Sammy: tea set from Harriet, with the understanding that whoever interrupts tea time WILL be dead. Pictures from the twins <3 and mildly disturbing taxidermied rat. (Marya Rasputin. Don't ask.)

Marya Rasputin: she gets a picture book and new set of scalpels. Yes, it is a disturbing combination, thank you for asking.

CJ: somehow, she got her hands on explosives, no one knows who got it for her (she got it herself). Probably a shrunk head keychain from Freddie or something, CJ really hopes it's real. A fun scrunchie (also Freddie, who knows full well it will be lost by New Year's Eve. Maybe a week later, since she purposefully got a shiny one.) Harriet got her a backpack, which is entirely pointless and she knows it. And some weapons, obviously.

Maddy: DOLLS. Yes, they are creepy. Nail polish, Ginny immediately made her nails after. Some better or worse disguised bribes.

General Descendants Headcanons

A/N: this is just my general headcanons in general! i would love discussion but in my head this is just how i view everyone because i love them all <3

okay let's get into this!

dove confirmed mal is pan and has a huge crush on evie, so I definitely see evie being bi or pan and having a huge comphet problem because of her mother

jay is also a raging bisexual if I've ever seen one (source: I'm bi)

as for carlos I personally love his relationship with jane, I think they're very cute together

though I do think carlos is bi as well, or at least queer in some way

harry and gil are also raging bisexuals

harry literally flirts with anything that moves/breathes lets be so honest

uma is so complicated for me because I love her with harry but I also love the idea that she's a lesbian and is possibly jealous of evie and mal

seriously if mal and uma were together they would be such a power couple especially since they work so well together

I'm a huge gil x jay person, I think their chemistry in D3 was amazing

imagine them on their gap year traveling the world omg-

doug is so complicated for me because I do feel like he genuinely loves evie but the reason they never said "the L word" is because evie was struggling so much with comphet and didn't understand what she was feeling

and doug waited for her! he never pushed her to do anything she wasn't comfortable with and was happy just to be her friend and help her with her business

or its just a lavender marriage anyway-

family is so important to everyone in the descendants universe, whether it is by blood or not

which is a theme already shown in the movies

after the barrier is taken down i do see there being a couple hiccups here and there BUT it is taken care of fairly easily

and in my head i do see a lot of unlikely friendships and auradon just winning all the tournaments and things

plus everyone's fashion just gets 10x better in general

which is why you see more dyed hair on AKs (auradon kids) in the rise of red instead of it being exclusive to just VKs

i don't think any of this is groundbreaking by any means but i just love talking about descendants in general so! hopefully you enjoyed!

Sooooo I watched the new Descendants movie.

I have a LOT of things to say about it.

I won't talk about the fact that everyone goes to the same school because it's already been talked by many and many people. Yes it's dumb, we can all say that and agree on this point.

The first thing I need and want to say is the songs. I listened to the songs of the first three movies, and there really wasn't THAT MUCH auto-tune.

All the songs in the new movie are very autotuney, you can hear how much post-production there is.

This, and the fact that EVERY SONG has part where they talk/sing. I don't know if there's a word for it. It's like they were like "young people love rap and pop, so we will do a mix of this!" but it's not rap, and it's not really pop.

And that's the thing I'm the most mad about. I love the songs that Disney Channel offers us, and I think it's the first time where no song really hit me.

Now, let's talk about the plot. I wasn't expecting that ending. The fact that they succeed wasn't something I predicted. Because in everything that involves Time Travel, we're always told that changing the past would change the future and that it could have some repercussions that won't be good.

I was really expecting them to be the one who would provoc the prank as they were meddling. I thought that Ulyana would have the book thanks to them making a mistake or something like that.

I also really thought that we would see that ball before they go back. Because what if it wasn't Ulyana but someone else who pranked Bridget? Then they would have done everything for nothing.

The end confirms that changing the past will have repercussions but I don't really want another movie with Ulyana coming back as an adult or something else. 🙄 Or just, I don't want another movie PERIOD.

Also, I want to talk about the beginning.

So you're telling me that Mal, Ben, Evie and Jay left and they let Uma in charge of the kingdom? Like wtf bro.

Why would they let UMA of all the people in charge? I thought that Uma would just be the principal, not in charge of everything...

Ben's parents are still alive, they can retake their throne for a moment, while continuing Ben's policies for the time he's away.

(Even though, the king and queen shouldn't left their kingdom like that, without a heir, because you know... Frozen? Tangled the serie? An accident can happen really fast)

Oh and, Uma said Auradon was created 30 years ago, so it's been nine/eight years since Descendants? (Mal said 20 years ago at the beginning of the first movie) And it's just now that they decide to leave? 🙄

About the plot of the movie, I didn't find it really entertaining, I won't say it was a bad moment watching this, but I won't say that it was a good moment either... It was okay, at best.

The characters were not that good and except Red, and maybe the young Ella for her talk to Chloe, I can't say that I like them.

You're telling me that Cinderella's OWN DAUGHTER doesn't know what her mom past was?? She doesn't know she was abused and treated like a servant by her stepmother and her stepsisters??

No wonder that Chad was like that if they were raised as royals and never learned about anything else. She doesn't know how to wipe the floor. She touched a vase and it broke?

What did their mom taught them?? I was very happy to have Brandy and Paolo back at first, but if it's to portray them as royals and that's all, then what's the point??

Ella was Bridget's best friend, she said "let's go together to the ball" but when she was there, she left her for the prince?? 🙄 And then, Bridget got back to her kingdom and never saw Ella again?

That's not what I call a best friend. Evie is Mal's best friend because she acknowledged what Mal went through, and she told her that it was okay if she wanted to stay on the Isle, that it didn't mean they wouldn't stay friends. They had a beautiful duet in Descendants 2 about their friendship. And through the movies, they showed that they were there for each other.

When Evie needed comfort after Chad? Mal was there, telling her she was smart.

When Mal got her first date? Evie was there.

When Mal ran away to the Isle, Evie felt bad for not noticing what was happening to her best friend, and got back there, even though we know that she hates this place.

When Mal got cursed by Audrey, Evie was there, telling her she was still beautiful, and she accompanied her to the Isle.

When Doug was asleep and Evie was doubting about their love? Mal (and Uma) were there, telling her to try it. Mal knew that it would work because she knew that they both loved each other.

In every occasion, the three original movies showed us what it was like being a best friend. And in the fourth one, it didn't work. Nor with Bridget and Ella, nor with Red and Chloe. (Even if it's arguable that it's the beginning of Red and Chloe's relationship so who knows in the future?)

But the point was that Ella wasn't a good friend to Bridget if she just let her deal with Ulyana's prank. And if she said that it was just a prank, without considering the effect it might have on Bridget.

But it doesn't mean I hated everything. I liked the hommage to Carlos/Cameron. The picture of him, Uma talking about what he would have wanted... You know it's not just acting, and that China was really emotional because Cameron was a good friend of hers.

I liked Red's character, how she doesn't want to be like her mom, how she does what she wants, and she doesn't care. She stays herself through the movie and I like that.

I wish I could say that I like Chloe but unfortunately it's too soon. I need to see her growing, and understanding what the young Ella told her. She needs to learn that not everything is easy for everyone in life.

(oh and can someone explain me WHY she'll be the next queen if she has an older brother? As if Chad wouldn't be interested to be the next ruler. And as if his parents wouldn't let him have the throne because of what he did in the Descendants movies. He was still a teenager, he can always grow up. Especially after what Audrey did to him, it change a man)

I realized that it's already a big post, so I will stop here I think. There's so many things I could say, but I think I talked about the main points.

Overall, it was not a bad film per se, but not a good one either. I wished the songs were better and fited the actors' voices better.

(Like, Dara Renee has a great voice, her villain song could have been a big ballad with some big high notes that we know she can sing.

Also, Rita Ora has a great voice, I'm not her fan, but she CAN sing, and her song was meh. Too much talking. At least Brandy got "So this is love" to show her beautiful voice a bit.)

𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗧 𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗘𝗦

Turns out my brain never knows when to stop (😅), so now I have even more plot bunnies for Descendants and I thought I’d share them with you!! Keep in mind that I probably won’t do official intro posts for most of these, but you can still feel free to ask me questions about them if you want!!

Bella Wolf, daughter of the Big Bad Wolf, poly Carlos/Jane ship, Fivel Stewart FC. A member of the VKs, despite being a total sweetheart for a villain kid and never really wanting to be evil, because she was the only kid who tried to befriend Evie when she had her mother were exiled and she and Evie have been stuck like glue ever since. Not originally selected to go to Auradon, but the VKs managed to sneak her through the barrier and Ben decided to let her stay. Genuinely befriends Jane pretty quickly since they’re both really sweet and quiet, and doesn’t necessarily like her friends using the girl, but she goes along with it and it breaks her heart to distance herself from Jane after Family Day. Has also had a crush on Carlos forever but doesn’t realize she likes Jane too until after Jane and Carlos start dating, and she thinks she’s missed her chance with both of them until they approach her about being a part of their relationship. Has been purely in human form, like her dad, for most of her life because of the magic blocker on the Isle, but when she gets to Auradon she discovers that she can shift into a wolf and back at will, and also has heightened senses and reflexes, which she uses to join the tourney team after it becomes more inclusive after the second movie.

Charlotte Cogsworth, daughter of Cogsworth, Gil ship, India Eisley FC. Homeschooled in Auradon’s palace for most of her life, because she’s been in training to follow in her father’s footsteps and become an advisor in Ben’s future court and also because Cogsworth is a very protective father, but Ben manages to convince his parents to convince her father to let her go to Auradon Prep shortly before the VKs come to Auradon (and she almost gets pulled out of school again when Cogsworth learns about villain kids coming, but thankfully it doesn’t happen). A bit socially inept since she hasn’t spent a lot of time around kids her age other than Ben, but a very sweet and fiercely intelligent girl who’s accepting of the VKs right away. Offers to tutor the Sea Three and catch them up on any education they might lack after Ben brings them to Auradon after the second movie, and falls in love with Gil that way. Absolute besties with Ben since they grew up together, and is also really good friends with Lonnie and Evie and Doug (and also forms a kind of unexpected friendship with Uma after a while). Her father nearly has a heart attack when he finds out she’s dating Gaston’s son, but he eventually comes around.

Beauregard “Beau” Beast, son of Belle and Adam, poly Harry/Jay ship. Younger than Ben by less than a year, but has always grown up in his brother’s shadow as the “spare heir”; even though Ben never tried to make him feel less than, he’s always known that his father didn’t care about him the same way, that he was meant to just be Ben’s right hand and nothing else. Inherited his mother’s love for reading and knowledge and has spent most of his life locked in his room or the palace library studying history and politics, hoping that he could become a well-known senator or ambassador to another kingdom. A bit wary of the VKs at first, but eventually befriends all of them and starts dating Jay (to Adam’s consternation, especially since Ben’s already dating Mal), and winds up being the one Uma’s pirate crew kidnaps instead of Ben when they go to the Isle to bring Mal home. He and Harry are intruiged by each other and flirt a little while he’s captive (awkwardly on Beau’s part), but he finds out after the Sea Three come to Auradon that Jay and Harry were actually involved for a short while before the fight between the VKs and Uma’s crew got really bad. Eventually Jay and Beau realize that they (still, on Jay’s part) have actual genuine feelings for Harry, and invite him to be part of their relationship. Beau is very sweet but intensely awkward and insecure due to never being the first choice growing up, but as he gains more friends and starts dating Jay and Harry he’s able to come out of his shell and starts being able to stand up for himself.

Wesley Darling, son of Wendy Darling, Mal ship, Tom Holland FC. The son of Wendy and the man she married after becoming a writer and putting Neverland behind her, but there are rumours that he’s actually Peter Pan’s son because of all the mischief he gets into. Hates Auradon’s thinking of “moving past” magic and how perfect and prim everyone pretends to be, so he’s constantly pulling pranks and getting into trouble with Fairy Godmother. Immediately recognizes that Ben’s under a love spell because he sees him eat the spelled cookie and approaches Mal about it, not to confront her or rat her out but just because he’s impressed by her prank skills (he obviously doesn’t realize that it’s part of a bigger plan). He and Mal fall in love leading up to the coronation, and Wesley is so relieved when she chooses good and admits to Ben that she doesn’t have any feelings for him - which he’s fine with because he’s a good friend and genuinely likes Wesley - so they can be together. The very definition of a class clown, laid-back and mischievous and doesn’t take a lot seriously, but also a lot smarter than most people think and would do anything for the people he cares about.

Aurora Andersen, daughter of Ariel and Eric, poly Mal/Evie ship, Zendaya Coleman FC. Ariel and Eric’s younger child, after her older sister Melody who’s already graduated Auradon Prep. Shares her mother’s curiousity and sense of adventure, and so she makes a strong effort to befriend the VKs when they first come to Auradon. Realizes she has feelings for both Evie and Mal after they almost steal the wand at the coronation, and is thrilled when they choose good and decide to stay in Auradon. Confesses to them sometime between the first and second movies, and they all become Auradon Prep’s power throuple. Pretty much exactly like Ariel in terms of personality, bold and inquisitive and kind, but with Eric’s occasional recklessness thrown in. Can change between mermaid and human forms at will, thanks to Fairy Godmother’s magic. Wanted to be on Auradon Prep’s swim team but it was deemed unfair since she’s a mermaid, so she settles on joining the R.O.A.R. team after Lonnie becomes captain.

Delfina Madrigal, daughter of Dolores Madrigal, Lonnie ship, Rachel Zegler FC. Daughter of Dolores and Mariano, and the oldest of the five children that her father always wanted. Received a gift from the family miracle on her fifth birthday like the rest of her family, becoming able to create illusions through her singing voice. Homeschooled for a good portion of her life, like most Madrigals, but Mirabel, now head of the family, decided she and a few of her cousins should be allowed to go to Auradon Prep after the coronation, since she thought that King Adam’s attitude towards magic might be changing. A clumsy lesbian disaster, a bit like her Tía Mirabel, who gets an insta-crush on Lonnie and whose brain tends to stop working when she’s around her. The two of them get together shortly after the events of the second movie, and Delfina attends all of Lonnie’s R.O.A.R. tournaments religiously despite not really knowing anything about the sport. A bit quiet and nervous like her mother, but also has her quiet strength and her tía’s tendency to let her mouth run faster than her brain. Joins Auradon Prep’s acapella club and makes them into sensations, due to her gift making their performances into full spectacles.

Theodore “Theo” Maldonia, child of Tiana and Naveen, Chad ship, Jonathan Daviss FC. He/they kid of Tiana and Naveen and heir to the throne of Maldonia. Very studious, quiet, and dedicated to learning how to be the best ruler he can be, but also doesn’t have very many friends as a result. Unexpectedly winds up becoming close to Chad after being assigned to tutor him when he starts failing a class, and actually helps him to reconsider his ways and mindset when the VKs come to Auradon. They develop a crush on him eventually but acknowledge that he still has a ways to go before becoming a better person, so it’s a while before he asks him out, but they’re very cute when they do get together. Through dating Chad, Theo starts to come out of their shell a little, and becomes really good friends with Doug and Carlos. A member of the Auradon Prep student council, and eventually becomes the tourney coach’s assistant as an effort for them to better learn how to plan strategies.

Maizie Hatter, child of the Mad Hatter, poly VKs ship, Erin Kellyman FC. Wacky non-binary sweetheart, and a complete outcast in Auradon, as most kids from Wonderland are, due to their odd style and outlandish personality. When the VKs originally come to Auradon (already all dating each other), they try to befriend Maizie because they figure it will be easy to convince them to help them steal Fairy Godmother’s wand, but all four of them find themselves falling in love with Maizie over time. After they all choose good at the coronation - and Mal profusely apologizes to Ben for the love spell and explains that she doesn’t really have feelings for him - they ask Maizie to be a part of their relationship, which they’re only too happy to do. An incredible artist and lover of tea who forms Auradon Prep’s art club with Mal and gets all four of their partners addicted to rose hip tea. Exactly what you’d expect the child of the Mad Hatter to be, wacky and curious and often living inside their own head, but also a lot more observant and smart than people expect. Becomes besties with Ben after the events of the first movie when they start to become more accepted by Auradon society and, later, the Sea Three.

Most Popular*** Descendants Ships

I love me some statistics so I did some number crunching so I could add an update to OP's July post for 12/22/2024 :D My apologies in advance for the wack-ass colors. I'm a statistician, not a graphic designer.

*** "Most Popular" is a label that's difficult to claim for data collection reasons. More on that below.

Total fics at time of study: 9421

Anyway, no changes too drastic from OP's July data except for the notable rise in the Chloe/Red pairing (for obvi reasons).

*I did not include any platonic ships in the charts, but they were in the top relationships. I also did not filter them out in my searches so as not to confound the results by filtering out side friendships also tagged. 

For anyone who isn't familiar with the ao3 filter system, filtering out a ship will remove all fics with that ship--including something tagged in the background. For example, say you've got a Harry/Uma fic that also tags Ben/Mal in the background though they're not the focus of the story. By filtering out Ben/Mal, that fic gets taken out too.

Now, with this in mind, I also ran the same numbers minus Ben/Mal, just to see how the rankings shifted.

Total fics at time of study: 7817

As you can see, excluding Ben/Mal doesn't just affect Ben/Mal, but also changes the proportion for other pairings that often include/tag Ben/Mal in their fics and vice versa.

The side pairings filter process I explained above is my guess as to why Doug/Evie is 5 overall but drops down to 8th place (with Ben/Mal as the invisible #1 in the second chart) and Jane/Carlos disappears entirely from the top contenders: because they're often tagged as a background pairing for Ben/Mal. Certain ships that move together will always be most heavily affected by my taking out their "anchor." When I removed Evie/Mal AND Ben/Mal, Jay/Carlos dropped significantly too because it's often paired with Evie/Mal.

With this ALSO in mind (and if I haven't bored you already), I pulled the data on fics with only one pairing tagged for the fic.

Total fics at time of study: 3767

When I looked at the fics with only one relationship listed, these were the results. Yet I have another caveat--this also does not reflect the true number of fics centered on these pairings, because there are plenty of fics that center on one of the pairings from the original list but also list side pairings that won't be reflected here. 

Once again, I'll emphasize that Ben/Mal, Doug/Evie, and Jane/Carlos are more likely to be listed together, as are Evie/Mal and Jay/Carlos, so they will be disadvantaged here. Chloe/Red will be disproportionately high in this chart because (as I understand it) there aren't many prominent side pairings from the new franchise compared to the originals (though someone who has seen the new series or involved in the fandom is welcome to contradict me, I really know next to nothing about it). 

So what's the most popular ship then???

The (perhaps disappointing) answer is there's no way of knowing the true proportion of fics dedicated to which pairing, since pulling that data would require reading every fic (or at the very least, its summary) to ascertain which pairing it centers on and, guys, I have a real job and this is for funsies.

I have a few questions about ur Au,

what was it like for the C4 when they moved to Auradon ?. Also what is their dynamic like on the isle and auradon. How's their relationship like with their parents?

When they moved to Auradon it was just as awkward as the first movie. Even though this time they aren’t there to get the Isle free ( because Auradon is the place locked up to people who aren’t extremely wealthy and influential) they’re there to experience what society deems a “Amazing Life”. As well as get degrees from Auradon Uni which is so accredited that any job anywhere will hire you with that degree.

But the time they get there they’ve already been raised under their parents to young adult age, so it’s even harder for them to unlearn their negative traits that really hurt people. Jay with stealing and fighting, Mal with underestimating people and behaving like she’s the best in every situation, Carlos with literally being a menace to animals ( he wants to make diferentes cool clothing pieces and sell em because Auradon has heard about him and really likes his stuff even if it is taboo) , and Evie with her excepting people to do things for her and not doing her own hard work.

There dynamic on the Isle is close but still strenuous . Mal underestimates them all especially Carlos, who is close with Harry so that’s pretty rough. Mal and Evie have a will they won’t they thing, and Jay actively provokes Harry which is only okay to do because Harry likes fighting him. They have a gang with many diferentes underlings and it was this close to being infiltrated by Harry doe to Umas debt request…. But they never knew about that because they get wished away to Auradon.

On the isle however they begin to drift apart after a year. Carlos because of his friendship with Chad and Jane who have always been less of a headache to be around. Evie and Mal because they start dating after breaking up with there Auradon boy friends and it’s not as happy as they thought it’d be. Jays the only one feeling the effects of this waning closeness as well as the sadness of finding out things about Harry he won’t ever be able to act on, so as such he latched on to that not so healthy relationship with Ben who is feeling kinda the same.

I only have my timeline figured out from Rise of Red “Auradon” pre Chloe and Red up to the second descendants movie, so the rest of the development for these guys is yet to be seen.
