Happy Feast Day
Saint Josaphat Kuntsevych of Polotsk
1580-1623
Feast Day: November 12 (New), November 14 (Trad)
Patronage: Ukraine
Saint Josaphat, born in Ukraine, became a monk for the Ukrainian Order of St. Basil and 5 years later a priest for the Byzantine Church. He worked for unity and peace between the Eastern Orthodox and Latin Roman Churches, which were divided since 1054. Josaphat was made the first Bishop of Vitebsky in 1617 during an intense level of unrest between the two groups. Being the holy man that he was, he started building and reforming his diocese. In 1623, a mob of Orthodox citizens was incensed to riot and murdered Bishop Josaphat. He was canonized as the first Eastern Church saint in 1867.

St. Dositheos the Recluse of Kiev
The patron saint assigned (non-canonical lol) for @princess-stefan-3cy is St. Dositheos.
St. Dositheos was a woman named Daria who was given a male's name during her monastic tonsure because she pretended to be a man in order to hide from her parents who wanted her to get married.
There was a noble family in the province of Riazan who had a daughter named Daria. When Daria was two years old, she visited her grandmother, Porphyria, in the Monastery of the Ascension in Moscow. Daria ended up staying in the monastery with her grandmother for seven years, until 1730, during which time she fell in love with the monastic way of life of asceticism and prayer.
When she returned home with her parents, they tried to educate her on the noble and high-status way of life, but her parents were constantly disappointed when they witnessed her interacting with beggars and wearing similar clothes to them. Daria would invite beggars into their home to feed and clothe them. To avoid her parents' lavish parties, she would seclude herself in her room.
This way of life for her lasted until she was 15 years old when her parents decided that she was old enough to get married. She realized her parents' intentions so she ran away from home, bought peasant clothing, cut off all her hair, and called herself the serf Dositheos.
Eventually she went to the Kiev Caves Lavra, far away from home, where she became well known as a man with great virtues and life-giving counsels. She hid in a cave and talked to people through a small hole in her door so that nobody would see her beardless face and reveal her identity as a woman.
She was officially tonsured by the request of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna who would visit her for her counsels. At some point, there was a young man named Prochoros who visited Saint Dositheos to receive her advice since he wanted to become a monk! She told him to go to Sarov to live in obedience to the abbott there, and behold, Prochoros was eventually tonsured, and himself became a saint.
Prochoros who received the blessing to become a monk from St. Dositheos became the beloved Saint Seraphim of Sarov!
By imperial decree, Dositheos eventually had to leave his cave and he wandered the streets of Kiev, acting as a fool-for-Christ.
Dositheos performed many miracles, saving many families in Kiev from the plague which ravaged the city in September 1770.
In 1776, September 26, Dositheos reposed, leaving a note to her fellow monks to give her a monk's burial without tampering with her body, without cleaning or changing her clothes. (The custom is to wrap a monk's body in a rug and bury him without a coffin.)
One day, Dositheos's sister visited Kiev and found out that monk Dositheos who had once given her counsel had reposed, and when she went to the funeral service, she recognized the face of the monastic who was about to be buried and confirmed that Monk Dositheos of Kiev was her long-lost sister Daria who had disappeared from the noble Tiapkin family in the Riazan province!
Saint Dositheos the Recluse of the Kiev Caves, please intercede on our behalf before Christ our God that he may forgive us our many sins!

Yes the 2024 Olympics were a distraction. And a little bit cringe.
But the joy. The camaraderie. The emphasis on mental health and the diverse physicalities that were portrayed. The "Please stand if you can."
The fact that 50% of athletes were women. The fact that Saint Lucia's first-ever Olympic medal was gold. Simone Biles, Sha'Carri Richardson, Katie Ledecky, the US men's gymnastics team; the Refugee Team, the Ukranian team, the (8!) Palestinian athletes.
Flavor Flav sponsoring the US water polo team. Snoop Dog cheering on every athlete he found.
And more.
I've never really been interested in the Olympics but this year made me cry. There's still good in this world, I think.

SET FOURTEEN - ROUND ONE - MATCH SEVEN
"Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks" (1880–1891 - Ilya Repin) / "Garden of Earthly Delights" (1490-1510 - Hieronymus Bosch)
REPLY OF THE ZAPOROZHIAN COSSACKS: Uuuuuuooo I’m pretty sure somebody has submitted the world famous Repin with the fella holding his dead son, and yeah that one is truly harrowing and I think it should be in the final bracket cause it would sweep but Repin has such a range and it’s all very deeply felt and sensitive stuff. For this one he did a couple of versions - you could pick either because they’re both rich in a really immediate sense of humanity. Again on the technical side this is a truly bonkers piece of work because he stitched its elements together from countless studies of people he knew and the result is still somehow a Realist masterpiece rather than the patchwork amalgamation you’d expect.
And each figure isn’t just irresistibly human - he gives all of them so much tangible warmth (the riotous laughter! The attention paid to detail in their clothes! The irritated dog in the bottom left corner) and the fact that theyre all his friends and colleagues is really charming. Dunno if its like “molten lava” kind of evocation of emotion but it certainly makes me feel something. ( @idiotpalespiral )
GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS: think it's one of the greatest odes to human imagination and it's insane that it was painted around 1500. it's hard to overstate how innovate and unique bosch's art is. besides, he probably hadn't even ever taken acid in his life, so i don't know how he did that (@cuties-in-codices)
(The "Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks" is an oil on canvas painting by Ukranian born Russian artist Ilya Repin. A large number of the "Cossacks" are modelled after either friends of Repin or people he saw around him, including the bald head belonging to the Grand Chamberlain of the court of the Russian Emperor who declined to be added and Repin painted in anyway. This painting measures 203 cm × 358 cm (80 in × 141 in) and is located at the State Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg. The submitter originally submitted the preliminary version of the piece.
"The Garden of Earthly Delights" is a triptych oil painting by Hieronymus Bosch. It measures 205.5 cm × 384.9 cm (81 in × 152 in) and is located in the Museo del Prado, Madrid.)

this is what a certain kind of progressive american and western discourses of moral purity and a overly simplified and dyshonest, static view on opression and prejudice which are surrounded by a severe lack of complexity and gray areas lead to and ive seen it way too much over the years
marginalized groups are not saints. never have been never will be. just because you're part of a marginalized group doesnt make you a saint either. there is not some sort of inherent collective conciousness among marginalized people which makes them incapable of being prejudiced or opressive to others in fact theres plenty more examples in the world of marginalized people doing the same sorta shit to others while complaining its being done to them. this is how humans are, this has happened for thousands of years, we have a tendency to this sort of hypocricy which is blatantly obvious. people which have been genocided commit genocides. people which have been enslaved enslave others. people which have been opressed because of their ethnicity or religion opress others for ethnicity and religion. here's another great obvious example: plenty of men throughout time will die and fight for the end of their opression and their freedom while opressing their women. the list goes on. Plenty of people both in the past and today are very well aware of how discrimination feels and still feel very comfortable being prejudiced and discriminatory twoards other kinds of people. and heres another lovely thing thats true then: if we consider people to be bound by the crimes of their ancestors, and we consider it normal to condemn someone just because they come from a group which did whatever, then were all fucking screwed because there are no clean hands in history
there is no true "perfect" or "pure" group of people with no damn issues and there never will be, ever. e v e r. the insane fucking complexity of the world cannot be boiled down easily into the mindsets that plenty of progressive people are running around with today with
. i cant believe i have to say this. no damn it palestinians or arabs in general, as a group - because apparently the invididual complexity and existence of people dont matter at all anymore - having a history, issues, and cultural issues with racism sexism and homophobia and whatever else Does Not by any god damn means justify their genocide, their treatment so horribly and so brutally. it fucking doesnt. and heres something too because idiot leftists, if theyll say something about palestine like this theyll throw ukraine under the bus the next instant - ukranians as a culture having a history of racism sexism and homophobia dont deserve to be bombed to death by russians and all the horrible shit theyre going through. and hey guess what heres another example, the crimes of serbs during the yugoslav wars dont justify that currently in kosovo theyre being ethnically clensed and little children are being shot over some collective sin crimes of the ancestors shit
because if we Dont have this mentality than sorry to fucking say it is acceptable for all of us to nuke each other off of the face of the earth and every genocide and opression is percectly acceptable to not rly give a damn about because welp sorry, collectively were all doomed then
#this feels like the wokie version of the american imperialist mindset of like#well its okay to bomb and kill x people because theyre sexist or whatever the hell

🇺🇦🇷🇺 🚨 UKRANIAN AUTHORITIES TO CLOSE THE "ANCIENT CHERNIGOV" ORTHODOX CHURCH AFTER TRANSFER TO STATE OWNERSHIP
The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) announced the closure of the "Ancient Chernigov" Church located in Chernikov city in the northeast of Ukraine Wednesday.
According to the UOC, the ancient churches of the National Architectural and Historical Reserve, the "Ancient Chernigov" church is to be closed after transfer to State-ownership, and only churches that are part of the "Orthodox Church of Ukraine" (OCU), an entity invented by Ukrainian authorities in response to Russia's Special Military Operation launched in February 2022, are to remain accessible.
Just one day earlier, on Tuesday November 14th, a commission as part of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine completed the work of transferring to state-ownership the objects of the National Architectural and Historical Reserve "Ancient Chernigov", including the churches and cathedrals used by the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), as reported by the department.
According to the report, the UOC states that some monuments are in "unsatisfactory condition" and recommended the agency carry out restoration and conservation work.
According to the website for the UOC, “From the very beginning of the commission’s review, the churches of the UOC were closed to the public, access to them was blocked by people in camouflage uniforms. As for the published conclusions about the state of architectural monuments, for believers in the Chernihiv region they will mean that the Trinity, Spassky and Assumption churches, along with the relics Saints Theodosius and Philaret and Saint Lawrence of Chernigov will be taken away from the UOC and closed to visitors. Churches of the OCU remain freely accessible."
The Ukrainian authorities, over the last year, have launched successive waves of persecution against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for its supposed connections with Russia. This comes at a time when simply praising something considered Russian can lead to suspicions, oppression and even imprisonment as Russia's Special Military Operation closes in on the end of its second year.
Local authorities in various regions of Ukraine have banned the activities of the UOC, while the Ukrainian Parliament passed in its first reading, a bill to ban the UOC and its activities throughout the country.
In some cases, sanctions have been imposed on certain representatives of UOC Clergy; while the Ukrainian Intelligence Services (SBU) has opened investigations into members of the clergy, conducting "counterintelligence activities" against clergy members, including conducting searches of churches and monasteries, as well as Bishops and priests.
According to the report, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture examined 18 objects, including the building complexes of the Yelets and Trinity monasteries, the Transfiguration Cathedral, Pyatnitskaya and the Catherine churches.

[HC] Santuario
Sedes Externas
Europa:
Oeste-Centro-Mediterráneo:
Juan (España)
Serge (France)
Travis (Norman-French)
Algernon (Norman-French, "with moustache")
Pascal (French, from the Latin Paschalis)
Gilles (France)
Baraba (might be mispelled Barbara, Greek)
Kain (Biblical Greek, hebrew origin)
Cima (Venezian surname, could also be hebrew/aramic and mean treasure)
Ludwig (Germanic)
Hugo (Germanic)
Flavio (Italian version of Flavius)
Lauro (Italian version of Laurus)
Norte:
Gavin (medieval variation of Gawain, British Isles)
Tony (Roman Antonius, English version)
Edmund (Old English, British Isles)
Norman (English, from a Germanic version of "Nord man")
Sven (Old Norse)
Helga (old norse, Scandinavia)
Este:
Ivan (Slavic, could be Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Macedojian, Ukranian, etc)
África-Medio Oriente
Siroe (Sasanian/Persian Empire - modern Iran)
Basile (Arabic)
Otros
Tess (diminutive of Theresa, Greek "to harvest”, most used in USA)
Europa: 20 (Saga, Kanon, Deathmask, Aiora, Milo, Aioros, Shura, Marin, Shaina, Misty, Asterion, Algol, Jamian, Dante, Capella, Sirius, Orphee, Seiya, Ichi, y Cassios)
Asia: 9 (Mu, Shaka, Dohko, Camus, Shion, Shiryu, Hyoga, Isaac, y Kiki)
África: 5 (Alghetti, Ptolemy, Jabu, Ban y Nachi)
América: 4 (Alde, Aphro, Dio y Geki)
Oceanía: 1 (Moses)
?: 10 (Babel, Daidalos, Shun, Ikki, June, Jango y 4 Black Saints, todos entrenados en lugares inexistes)

(Warning, I get a bit spicy beneath the line break)
Everything you can say about what Biden is doing?
TRUMP IS WORSE!
Biden has been putting pressure on Bibi to not be a total asshole, and has been pushing for a ceasfire.
Bibi and Hamas are just being dicks about it because SUPRISE they're both colossal assholes who couldn't give less of a shit about who lives or dies as long as they win.
Trump? Trump would not only be condoning what they'd be doing, HE'D PROBABLY INTERVENE ON ISRAEL'S BEHALF AND LEVEL THE WHOLE STRIP HIMSELF!
Not to mention Palestinians wouldn't be the only people to lose under Trump's foreign policy.
Ukraine is still fighting their war, and do you think Mr. Putinfan#1 would sign off on any funding for them?
Biden is the only viable option if we do not want to let this country spiral into a dictatorship. Honestly, as a disabled american, as a LGBTQ+ ally, as well as an ally for many others, including Palestinians and Ukranians, FUCK YOU for even THINKING of letting trump win because Biden isn't a fucking saint! He's the best option we have and we need to make sure that Trump loses.
Have the guts to look them all in the eye and warn them first.
#us politics#us presidential election#joe biden#life isn’t fair#You've got your choices#and if trump wins?#I'm laying responsibility where it should

SAINTS NOVEMBER 12
St. Ymar, 830 A.D. Benedictine martyr of England. A monk in Reculver Abbey, Kent, England, he was put to death by marauding Danes. Feast day: November 12.
St. Livinus, 650 A.D. Martyred Irish bishop, ordained by St. Augustine of Canterbury, England. He was the son of a Scottish noble and an Irish princess. Livinus and three companions went to Flanders, Belgium, where they evangelized the area. He was martyred near Clost, in Brabant. Also called Lebwin, he is identified by some scholars with St. Lebuinus.
ST. JOSAPHAT KUNCEWICZ, BISHOP AND MARTYR- This 17th century Ukranian monk and bishop lived, labored and died for the unity of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. The feast day of this “martyr of unity” is celebrated on November 12. https://www.vaticannews.va/en/saints/11/12/st--josaphat-kuncewicz--bishop-and--martyr-.html
St. Cadwallader, 689 A.D. A king of the Saxon peoples. He is also called Cadwalla and Ceadwalla. Born circa 659, Cadwallader became king of the West Saxons in 685 or 686. He expanded his kingdom to Sussex, Surrey, as well as Kent, In 668, he resigned and went to Rome, where he was baptized on Easter eve, by Pope Sergius I. He died a few days later and was entombed in St. Peter's.
St. Cummian Fada, 662 A.D. Irish monastic founder and defender of Roman liturgical customs. The son of the king of West Munster, Ireland, he entered Clonfert Monastery and headed the school there. He later became abbot of Kilcummin Monastery, which he founded. Cummian was a stout defender of the Roman liturgy against the Celtic school. His Paschal Epistle is still extant. Called “Fada,” Cummian received the name “tall” because of his height.
St. Lebuin, 773 A.D. Benedictine called Leaf Wine in his native England who worked with St. Boniface. He was a monk at Ripon, England, who went to Germany in 754. There he worked with St. Marchelm among the Frisians. Lebuin went to a pagan gathering at Marklo, where he won the respect of the Westphalian Saxons.
St. Machar. Founder of Aberdeen, Scotland, and companion of St. Columba. Also called Macharius and Mochuemna, he was baptized by St. Colman and joined Columba on lona. Machar evangelized the island of Mull. Consecrated a bishop, he became the Apostle to the Picts in the Aberdeenshire region.
ST. DIEGO, LAY FRANCISCAN, Born in Alcalà del Puerto, in Spain, around the year 1400. Didacus became a Franciscan lay brother. Although not a priest, he was sent to establish the Faith in the Canary Islands. During a plague in Rome in 1450, Didacus remained to assist the sick, even after the Curia had fled. Nov 12
St. Nilus the Elder Feastday: November 12 Bishop and friend of St. John Chrysostom. He was reputedly a member of the imperial court at Constantinople, modern Istanbul, who gave up his family and, with his son, Theodulus, took up the life of a monk on Mount Sinai. Theodulus was kidnapped by Arab raiders, and Nilus set out to find him. They were reunited, and both were ordained by a bishop at Eleusa. They then returned to Sinai. Nilus also became the bishop of Ancyra and was the reputed author of ascetical treatises and many letters. There is a possibility that he may be confused with the monk of Ancyra called “the Wise,” who wrote the various treatises.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day 2023 my sister, brother, and I are named after famous Irish politicians and actress. Robert Emmett 1778-1803 Patrick Pearce 1879-1916 Siobhan Mckenna 1922-1986 Our father was 100% Irish Frank O’Brian Nehin Jr. and our mother was 100% Ukrainian Patricia Jane Nehin. We grew up with both customs of Northern European and Eastern European cultures. Mom was a ballerina and Dad was an advertising and design guru. Our parents loved Siobhan McKenna’s acting and named my sister after her. My brother and I were given our names by my dad’s friend who was a priest as the shock of a double breach birth and low weight (2.5 / 3.0 lbs.), we were not expected to survive and we were baptized in the hospital so names were given to us for the sacrament. My dad’s aunt Erie Nehin said that we needed a proper baptism so we were baptized at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church as our family was one of the founding members. We share Irish 🇮🇪, Ukrainian 🇺🇦, Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic cultures and customs. There is more to being Irish than celebrating for a day and more to Ukrainian than the war. Culture, History, Politics, Art, and Food carries who we are. Siobhan is a brilliant designer of advertising and gardens, Patrick is brilliant at Branding and Luxury Packaging, and me I work in multiple industries, design, construction, branding, marketing, communication, renovation, and Vintage Airstream Trailers. Everyone is Irish ☘️ on Saint Patrick’s Day to all Cheers. Irish Blessing: May your days be many and your troubles be few, May all God's blessings descend upon you, May peace be within you, May your heart be strong, May you find what you're seeking wherever you roam. and the insight to know when you're going too far. May you have love that never ends, lots of money, and lots of friends. #saintpatricksday #eringobragh #everyoneisirishtoday #heritage #whoweare #siobhan #robert #patrick #irish #ukranian (at 30-A Santa Rosa Beach) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp5rY6Ou91M/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“ Thank you you've taught me more than anyone I love you “
that means a lot to me, thank you thats genuinely one of the nicest things anyones ever said to me. i love you too, in fact earlier i had drafted a post and scrapped it before posting it, the gist of it was just i think the thing that would be most surprising to people if they learned it about me, was how much i love them. i bet there are people who will read this and assume because of one reason or another maybe differing points of view or maybe due to their ethnicity or gender identity or something that i hate them, i think if they could peer into my soul they would blush dark red to see how i really felt.
i just got done watching the alex jones interview with kanye west, i disagree with some things ye says, but he said “i love hitler” and he said it over and over, and alex jones would try to add qualifiers to it “you just like the fashion of the uniforms” or “you mean just in the christian sense that you love everyone” and he stuck to his fucking guns, and at the very end of the interview he said “the holocaust isnt really what happened” this is a bigger deal than it even seems. i was just talking to a friend today about what it takes to be the kind of person the world needs right now, and its two parts, its intelligence and courage, courage mainly to tell the plain truth. at some point in the interview kanye said “im the lowest IQ person sitting here right now” and everyone was hitting him with the “no no no there are different kinds of intelligence” bullshit but he was one hundred percent right, but there are lots of smart people, tens of millions in the united states who are smart enough to grasp whats happened here, but very few brave enough to tell the plain truth. i mentioned how even kevin macdonald author of culture of critique wouldnt deny the holocaust, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn who authored 200 years together detailed how jews were over represented in the soviet government and starved tens of millions of ukranians in the holodomor out of a real ethnic hatred many jews harbor towards nonjews and yet he never denied the holocaust. these two men, one day will be lionized as saints, and they deserve it, but that potato was just too hot for even them to touch. the entire alex jones interview alex jones kept talking about the nazis, even at the end of the interview claiming hillariously that nazis were above the ADL, as in its nazis at the top pulling the strings not jews. the truth is there never was any such thing as a Nazi, literally they called themselves national socialist and the term “Nazi” was entitled to them by a jewish writer, but they never gassed a single jew, not one jew was gassed by adolph hitler, it never happened and adolph hitler is in heaven where he belongs! the only thing hes guilty of is giving up his own life to free his people from the clutches of the devil himself. i love hitler
