Coronavirus: Trump Recommends Injecting Disinfectant as Treatment
The medical community has criticized US President Donald Trump after proposing research into how coronavirus could be treated by injecting disinfectant into the body. He also appeared to suggest irradiating the bodies of patients with UV rays, an idea which a doctor at the briefing rejected. Moments earlier, another of his officials said sunshine and disinfectant were known to attack the infection. Public health companies operated by Mr. Trump alert against bleach as a drug. What Did Mr. Donald Trump Say? During the briefing of the White House coronavirus task force on Thursday, an official discussed the findings of US government research showing coronavirus appeared to degrade faster when exposed to sunlight and heat. The study also found that bleach could destroy the virus within five minutes in saliva or respiratory fluids, and that isopropyl alcohol could kill it much faster. While noting that the study should be handled cautiously, Mr. Trump has suggested more research in this field.
The president, turning to Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator said, "So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous - whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn't been checked but you're going to test it.” "And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside of the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're going to test that too. Sounds interesting," Donald Trump added. "And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? So it'd be interesting to check that." Pointing to his head, Mr. Donald Trump went on: "I'm not a doctor. But I'm, like, a person that has a good you-know-what." He spoke to Dr. Birx again and inquired if she ever learned of using "the heat and light" for coronavirus treatment. "Not as a treatment," Dr Birx stated. "I mean, certainly, fever is a good thing, when you have a fever it helps your body respond. But I've not seen heat or light." "I think it's a great thing to look at," Mr. Donald Trump said. Do not forget leaving your valuable comment on this piece of writing and sharing with your near and dear ones. US officials ponder ban of end-to-end encryption
Senior Trump administration officials want to ban the end-to-end encryption, according to a report by Politico on a National Security Council meeting that took place earlier this week. The encryption challenge, called “going dark”, was discussed with officials from key agencies, including FBI, Department of Justice, Commerce and State Departments. There was no final decision, but the report suggests the issue will not stay in the background for much longer. Companies like Apple, Google and Facebook rely on end-to-end encryption of data where only users sending and receiving it can read it. However, that way terrorism, drug trafficking and child pornography cannot be clamped, officials claim.
The DOJ and FBI were quoted that catching criminals is a top priority, “even if watered-down encryption creates hacking risks”. They are backed by the IRS and Secret Service, but the Commerce and State Departments pointed out there are going to be economic and diplomatic consequences of mandating encryption “backdoors”. Companies started to work on their end-to-end encryptions after the Edward Snowden revelations back in 2014, and ever since there was an ongoing debate on the political scene whether or not state departments should have access to particular data. Experts say Congress is unlikely to pass a bill requiring warrant-compatible encryption, given the bipartisan opposition. Source Read the full article

Iraq: withdrawal of American diplomats due to an
As pressure between Washington and Tehran continues to mount, the United States has decided to remove some of its diplomats from Iraq. A decision motivated by "imminent threat" in "direct link with Iran", according to senior US officials. Iraq appears as the collateral victim of the escalation between the Americans and Iran. In recent days, the United States has accused the Islamic Republic of preparing "attacks" against US interests in the region. Last week, Washington sent the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and a bomber force to the Gulf. But this spectacular reinforcement of the US military presence was not enough to bring down the tension. On Wednesday, the US State Department ordered its non-essential diplomatic staff to leave the Baghdad embassy and the Erbil consulate in northern Iraq. A decision motivated by "imminent threat" in "direct connection with Iran," said senior US officials.......... Read the full article

ICU Nurse Silently Stood in Protest at a Rally to Reopen Arizona
ICU nurse – Lauren Leander – put a pair of clean scrubs on her day off from working at a Covid-19 unit in an Arizona hospital and left for an anti-lockdown rally at the State Capitol. She had been motivated by silence to be a witness for her patients. Leander, a five-year-old Banner Health nurse, joined an intimate group of healthcare staff on Monday to counter the Capitol rally, where people gathered to encourage the governor to reopen the state. Standing straight, crossing her arms and masking her nose, Leander stood on the steps of the Capitol, with a group of health-care staff lined by her side. She said she talked only when someone got in on her personal room, with people raising their voices against her. She stated, "It was heated, people were very fired up about what they had to say; a lot of the top comments we got were about us being fake nurses, there was a huge majority of them that still believe this virus is fake, that it's a hoax and not real at all. They were convinced that we're fake nurses and that's why we weren't talking." Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey issued an order for the stay-at-home until April 30. Because of that several organizations at the Capitol gathered to say the economy has suffered enough and the order must be lifted. The ICU nurse told that she signed up to work full time in the Covid-19 unit at the hospital, and last month has seen patients from around the state. "I just hope people see that nurses are not the enemy and we'll take care of them one way or the other; I don't care if you believe in this virus or not or truly what your opinion is of it, if these people show up in my ICU we will take care of them one way or another," she added. Upon seeing photographs and video of people at a protest in Denver, Colorado, demanding reopening the state and loosen restrictions designed to limit coronavirus spreading, Leander said she was motivated and decided to speak up in support of her fellow health workers. After watching a Facebook post about the rally on Monday, the ICU nurse said she had contacted a couple of her colleagues and moved there. Iran oil import: India’s Iran oil purchases to fade ahead of US sanctions
NEW DELHI: Indian refiners will cut their monthly crude loadings from Iran for September and October by nearly half from earlier this year as New Delhi works to win waivers on the oil export sanctions Washington plans to reimpose on Tehran in November.
India’s loadings from Iran for this month and next will drop to less than 12 million barrels each, after purchases over April-August had been boosted in anticipation of the reductions.
The United States is renewing sanctions on Iran after withdrawing from a nuclear deal forged in 2015 between Tehran and world powers. Washington reimposed some of the financial sanctions from Aug. 6, while those affecting Iran’s petroleum sector will come into force from Nov. 4.
India, Iran’s No.2 oil client behind top buyer China, does not recognise the reimposed US sanctions, but winning a waiver from the restrictions is a must for New Delhi to protect its wider exposure to the US financial system.
India’s oil ministry in June told refiners to prepare for a “drastic reduction or zero” imports from Iran from November.
“Some refiners have either already exhausted or front-loaded their term contract to a large extent, which allows them the flexibility to go to zero if required, or until clarity on the waivers emerge,” Amrita Sen, chief oil analyst at Energy Aspect, told Reuters.
Washington will consider waivers for Iranian oil buyers such as India but they must eventually halt crude imports from Tehran, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said last week in New Delhi after a meeting of high level officials.
The Indian government, already facing a backlash over a falling rupee and record high fuel prices, does not want to halt the oil imports from Iran as the Islamic republic offers a discount on oil sales to India.
Government sources said India made this point clear in last week’s meetings with USofficials and remains engaged with Washington to work out waivers on its oil purchases from Iran.
“We have a special relationship with both the US and with Iran, and we are seeing how to balance this all, and also to balance out the interest of the refiners and end-consumers,” said one of the government officials.
But if Washington adopts a tough line, India would have no other choice than to end imports from Iran, they said.
Cutting imports nearly in half
India lifted about 658,000 barrel of oil per day (bpd) from Iran in April-August, according to data obtained from trade sources by Reuters, and the cuts projected for September and October would drop the daily average over those two months by about 45 percent to 360,000-370,000 bpd.
Indian oil refiners have already given the October loading plans to the National Iranian Oil Co (NIOC), sources familiar with the loading schedule said.
Top refiner Indian Oil Corp wants to lift 6 million barrels each in September and October, while Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals would load 3 million barrels each for those two months, the sources said.
IOC would also lift 1 million barrel for its subsidiary Chennai Petroleum Corp in October, they said.
Bharat Petroleum Corp would lift 1 million barrels in September and skip purchases in October, a company source said on Tuesday.
Bharat Petroleum has already drawn more than its fixed volumes – the amount it is obligated to purchase – that were contracted for 2018/19, its chairman said on Tuesday.
Nayara Energy, part owned by Russian oil giant Rosneft , plans to lift 1 million barrels each in September and October, the sources said. But the refiner began reducing its oil imports from Iran in June and aims to completely halt purchases from November.
Hindustan Petroleum, Reliance Industries and HPCL Mittal Energy (HMEL) have no plans to buy from Iran in September and October, they said.
India refiners – excluding Reliance and HMEL, which do not have term contracts with Iran – will together lift about 73 percent of their fixed contract volumes from Iran by end-October, the loading data showed.
IOC, Nayara and MRPL did not respond to Reuters’ emails seeking comments.
