Cocaine, Counterfeit, and Fentanyl: Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller | MEGA EPISODE | Nat Geo
Scams Mariana dives into the world of international scamming to understand how it all works and meet the outlaws at the heart of this booming industry.
Fentanyl Mariana goes in search of the new bosses, new routes, new risks, and the American communities paying the price for fentanyl’s next wave.
Counterfeiting Mariana journeys deep inside the Peruvian underworld to meet the gangster craftsmen who make and sell the world’s finest counterfeit U.S. dollars.
Cocaine Mariana retraces one of the world’s most intractable smuggling routes, following cocaine’s path from a remote Peruvian valley through Colombia’s Caribbean coast, all the way to the streets of Miami. Despite the decades-long U.S. war on drugs, cocaine production is at an all-time high, and Mariana meets some of the people who risk their lives to deliver America’s favorite party drug.
Pimps Mariana embeds with pimps, victims, undercover cops, and private investigators to understand the ugly business of illicit sex in America.

trying to get my Adderall prescription filled, a medication that I have been prescribed since high school which greatly improves my independence and quality of life, makes me feel like I am on the verge of getting arrested and black listed by every doctors office in the country.

Do you think that Medicine Pocket would talk to their puppies/doggies with a different voice? Like how some people would talk to their pets in a higher pitched voice or smth?
I remember watching this video a long time ago where someone explains how they only talk to their pet in a gremlin voice, and thinking back on it now , I feel like it’s kinda Medpoc coded. People just think that they’ve finally lost it when hearing it out of context.
I need your opinion on this.

I need more shit to discuss how parts of Bell are just Adler. Bell's entire experience of Vietnam is literally just Adler's own only slightly doctored. In reality the only perception of events Bell has of Vietnam are Adler's! Those are Adler's memories in Bell's head! Bell was made in Adler's image! Your personality is almost entirely based off of your memories of your experiences and Bell has Adler's memories! You base your future actions off your past ones and Bell's past ones are Adler's! How many other pieces of Adler are making up Bell? Bell unintentionally mimicking Adler's body language or behavior because of it?
Is looking at Bell, on some level, like looking at a fucked up reflection of himself for Adler? I just like imagining Adler being forced to observe small habits or bits of behavior from Bell and being horrifically and critically aware that he is observing his own behavior and habits transposed onto someone else. The art bears the signature of the artist!

I’m gonna be honest with y’all. I try my best but I do not understand half of Star Wars. I’m Din Djarin in this fandom. I don’t understand the storyline, I have no idea what anyone is talking about, I don’t want to be in charge, I got a cool outfit and I have a car let’s ride.

Thank @feral-ferrule for reminding me of this little aside. Now ya'll gotta deal with it.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Dosing the Batch Boys: (Glitterstim)
In Disgrace (ch3) Crosshair and Tah'nyem are dosed with Glitterstim, a psychoactive variant of spice made by the spiders that live in the caves of Kessel. It lets you read minds...This results in their minds slamming together in new an confusing ways, which is fun for their chapter but it even occurs to them that it might be even funner in bed, let's explore that a little.
Though glitterstim is canon it's underutilized and definitely not utilized the way that I do, so this is very HC based. We're also going to assume that the drug doesn't affect the health of the boys in anyway. (Echo, sweetie I worry about you other wise.)
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Hunter-
I think what would get Hunter off the most about being in your brain is the complete confirmation that all of your praise is genuine. All the boys might be surprised at just how attracted clonethirst girlies are to them but Hunter is particularly susceptible to the flattery of it. Ego boosted, the next aspect he would utilize is the direct feedback for how pleasurable his actions were. You'd probably not get to actively participate as much because he would get wrapped up in feeling what heights he could drive you to.
Wrecker-*let me in meme goes here*
What is going on in there? I can only imagine Wrecker's brain being a kind of messy place, sparks flying back and forth, complex equations drawn in crayon... What would be hot about it is just how overwhelmed with his emotions you would get. With practice he might be able to hold back but without it your brain is getting flooded. Joy, exuberance, and of course the sexual pleasure on a feedback loop. Actually, don't do this with Wrecker, you two are gonna fry.
Echo-
You'd have to ease Echo into this, he'd feel a little self conscious that you might feel any discomfort his implants and prosthetics might cause him, and you would, but having that open map would guide you to new ways to comfort him and make him feel good. He'd also find himself enjoying a type of relief basking in your mind. Like Hunter, he'd be enamored with feeling what he does to you and would try to heighten your experience more than focusing on himself.
Crosshair-
Cross isn't a selfish lover, but unlike Hunter and Echo he's very of the mindset that pleasure is a two way street. He'd more than likely take advantage of the connection by doing things that are mutually beneficial and might yield crazy results via feedback a la 69ing. More closed off and focused, Crosshair would have more control over holding your mind on task, easily keeping you away from parts of him he wouldn't want you to see.
Tech-
Where do I start?
Absolute dog shit at staying on task, once you let this little gremlin loose in your brain he'll start to rip you apart like an engine. Good luck keeping him out of your deepest darkest secrets, your half forgotten ruminations, dreams, and whatever other threads he gets his hands on. Not like it'd be much better, but you can also step into the whirring whirlwind resting in his brain pan. A single calculated thought releases so much mental energy you're floored immediately. There's not even sex yet, and since you'd be a helpless kitten of an rc car hooked up to the power of a jet engine you might as well let him run wild kriffing you within full efficiency.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Not that it moves the plot much besides being way too comfortable with each other too quickly, there are lasting effects of the Glitterstim on CrossXTahny.
She never gets a clean slate with the rest of the Batch Boys since she was exposed quite strongly to Crosshair's opinions of them. His opinions of them directly after Kamino. Yeah.
Also more of a fun fact, in case of alternative dimension shenanigans, Tahny would always be able to pick her Crosshair out of a line up. Even if it's between other Crosshair's that had Glitterstim experiences with other Tah'nyems.
Kids got little tan lines in the shape of each other burned into their brains.

You know what the worst fucking thing about liberal rhetoric is? Using "harm reduction", a term that refers to health policies offering safe options and alternatives for drug users instead of punitive control, to rationalize re-endorsing back into power a regime that is still overseeing one of the worst human atrocities of the 21st century.

it hurts my soul how often people will leave their partners bc they're addicts. it really does. i understand not being able to give someone the support they need and ending a relationship because of it, like there is only so much you can do. but i hate how there's so often an air of blame and stigma when people talk about this. i hate how part of why people can't be there for addicts is bc of how deeply ableist most people are - bc of how much the War on Drugs has rotted people's knowledge on substances and addiction.
i hate how little compassion and care and effort goes towards addicts. we deserve love. we deserve support. we deserve people to believe in us and stick by us, same as everyone else. and it just fucking sucks how often that does not happen. i hope every addict reading this who has been treated this way or worse knows they matter deeply. i hope the world gives you beautiful loving and kind people in your life. you deserve community. your struggle does not mean you deserve to be alone and unloved.

Drugs as part of Spain's dirty war against Euskadi
In 1982, the proliferation of syringes on the streets, young people wandering around with withdrawal symptoms, and small-scale robberies in stores or homes were evidencing a problem that would leave a trail of deaths in that decade that was impossible to calculate anymore. Heroin was going to mark an entire generation at a very politically turbulent time.
Citizens' perception of the impending catastrophe would become official in some way with the Basque Government's Plan against Drug Dependence was introduced on February 9, 1982. It included some figures for the first time: there were already between 6,000 and 10,000 heroin addicts aged 14-25 in Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. Something else was pointed out: "Police action in this matter has been weak" and "public authorities have neglected it." The plan warned especially about Gipuzkoa, where drugs flowed with absolute freedom, to the point of being the place in the Spanish State where the most heroin was consumed after Barcelona.

Man doing heroine on the street in Bizkaia.
Why Gipuzkoa? To the purely geographical elements (possibility of entering by sea, proximity of the border to another state) were obviously added the political ones: it was the region in which there was the most political agitation - which the youth was most involved in - and in which ETA had the most strength. It was also the epicenter of police action against the insurgents, with the Intxaurrondo Guardia Civil barracks as the main reference.
Heroin coincidentally punished the areas very close to Intxaurrondo: the neighborhoods of Altza and Herrera, Pasaia, Errenteria, Hernani… But also Arrasate, Elgoibar, Bermeo or the capitals: Iruñea, Gasteiz, and Bilbo (some estimates put the death toll at 400 in Otxarkoaga [a neighborhood of Bilbo] alone).
Tumblr media
People protesting before the Intxaurrondo barracks.
The widespread conviction that it was actually the police using drugs to politically demobilize Basque youth increased with two relevant press reports: after the seizure of large consignments of cocaine in Irun and hashish in Hondarribia, it turned out that a large part of the shipments had "disappeared" and/or returned to the market. The second one, the publishing of a report where the chief prosecutor of the Court of Gipuzkoa pointed to connections between the Spanish Security Forces and the spread of heroin in the Basque Country.
Report that was never seen again after being transferred to Madrid.
The issue today still constitutes a file to be opened. It has not been possible to put the exact dimension of the human drama that entailed and we have no actual number of deaths. The effects were not just deaths and illnesses, in a Russian roulette game that would worsen with the almost parallel emergence of AIDS. They also caused an economic drain on many families. The situation also left its mark on the artistic world in many of the songs of the so-called Basque Radical Rock, also shaken by the scourge.
Drug addiction was also associated to the increase in unemployment among youth, completing a picture of punishment and an eventual -and much wanted - political demobilization.

Broke: Jesse is a bad person
Woke: Jesse is a good person
Woker: the labels of "good person" and "bad person" don't exist in any meaningful way. Jesse does bad things but many things in his life are stacked up against him and ultimately he is kind and wants to do good
Bespoke: while the previous point is technically correct, if you are most concerned with the concept of there not being good people or bad people and feel like it is necessary to tell people who say Jesse is a "good person" that they're wrong, then you are more than likely holding some sort of bias or misunderstanding about his struggles and what he has gotten involved with in a way that is incorrect or at least inconsistent with actions that cause equal or more harm but aren't as "taboo" (since even before Walt, Jesse didn't seem to TRY and adulterate his meth with anything but chili powder even if it wasnt high purity, I think it's appropriate to bring up that alcohol has been shown to be the same or often higher than meth on harm ratings, in a few reports it is at the very top, so you should ask yourself; do you judge people who make alcohol the same way as you're proposing we judge Jesse for making meth?) Being "correct" about what type of person Jesse is in this case isn't nearly as important as the message you get across when talking about Jesse's actions in the context of his situation and life experiences. The ammount of people who say Jesse is a good person and try to actually excuse his actions are very few, but the number of people who either say he's a bad person or even people who don't think hes a bad person but insist that it's wrong to call him a good person and reinforce the ideas that tear people like Jesse down are... very many. Sadly the number of people who go as far to blame Jesse for every bad thing that happens to him and even refuses to acknowledge he was neglected growing up are significant as well. Maybe good people don't technically exist, but the vast majority of those who call Jesse one are going to say things that are infinitely more important to say than anything you might use to convince them not to call him a good person, and DEFINITELY more important than anything you might say to explain how "bad person" might be closer to an accurate of way of judging him in any way that matters outside of being fucking pedantic
