It's so funny how much lore there is about fishers being vicious demon animals that can and will murder you, your pets, and your kids. Including a lot weird conspiracies about the government introducing them to places. In reality, they're just funny very shy little guys who mostly hunt rodents and rabbits, and primarily dwell in interior woodland habitats away from human disturbance. And they look like this:

There are very few records of them hurting humans. They do occasionally have conflicts with pets, but hey, so can... nearly any animal your pets encounter, especially other cats and dogs! Can't blame wildlife for fighting back when cornered by a dog. Supervising your pets outdoors to prevent run-ins with wildlife is just part of being a responsible pet owner in rural and wooded areas. Hell, cities, even! Urban coyotes are more common than you'd think.

Next time some old fart tells you they're hyper-vicious little monsters that are terrorizing the woods, know that they're actually just cool little predators that want nothing to do with you.

Unless you're a porcupine, then watch out. They've really carved out a niche for themselves re: obtaining delicious porcupine meat without turning into a pincusion.

I think in terms of talking about weapons being used against palestine you have to do more than specify how a type of weapon is prohibited by international law. most weapons that are, like white phosphorus or thermobaric weapons, are prohibited against civilian populations. they are, however, legal to use against military targets. and israel has painted their fight - and so convinced many governments and their leaders - as being against hamas, a military target to them, and so using these kinds of weapons is okay because they're targeting terrorists and not civilians. terrorists, and not people. it's also just factually untrue to say the weapons are all outright banned under certain international laws. they are banned, but only if you can convince a government that those who are dying are people.

I gotta say, really glad that the main criticisms for my "artists have more options" post has been that it is very USA centric and doesn't work for people in low populated areas without an art community. This has led to people giving more perspectives and options, which is always appreciated, and also because it's a completely correct criticism. Like yeah it is in fact made from the perspective of a USAmerican who lives in a highly populated state with a thriving art community especially in rural areas, you got me there, can't argue with that, gimme some fresh perspectives I love to hear that. Seedling is such an interesting little story that i love, but i´d be lying if it wasnt almost completely sprouted (hehe) from the visual of those character duos that are a small child + big scary looking creature who acts as their guard, top tier trope frfr
