Vol 1 "Tango" - Chapter 4 (2/2)
Suzuki's reaction to Sugiki's complaining
First things first, 2015 uses an expression that means "badmouth someone in their absence". Problem: Sugiki is badmouthing him right in his face lol. 2020 fixed that and I'm glad.
Mistakes we teach 3rd graders not to make (2015)
Votre valse et digne d'un vrai goujat (et = and / est = is)
Je commencerez (-ez is the terminaison for 2nd person plural and very much not for the 1st person singular)
Vous devez Ă tout prix gagnez la prochaine aussi (-ez is the terminaison for the 2nd person plural and VERY MUCH NOT for the infinitive)
đ€ź
(all fixed in 2020)
Sugiki uses "tu" đ± once in 2015. Scandalous. And fixed in 2020 lol
Suzuki saying Princesses have a thing for bad boys:
(But princesses can't resist guys that are a bit rough!)
(But princesses.... don't they prefer "bad boys", anyway?)
Interjection change
2015: Ho !
2020: Non mais !
They basically mean the same thing but I like the variety 2020 brings because in 2015, Suzuki is always saying "ho" lol (which is often changed to "hé" in 2020)
Omitted part of negation
2015: Ne me mets pas en position !
2020: Me mets pas en position !
Negation in French is composed of two elements : "ne" and, most of the time, "pas" and they surround the verb: For example: Je ne veux pas (I don't want to). In spoken language, we have the tendency to omit the first pas, "ne", as we still understand a negation solely by the second part, "pas" -> Je veux pas. This is what is happening here.
2015 put the negation in full while 2020 omitted the "ne", hence 2020 Suzuki comes off as more familiar than 2015 Suzuki. They tend to omit the first part of the negation every time he speaks in both versions, but not this time for some reason.
(fun fact, omitting the second part of the negation makes it still understandable as a negation as well but on the contrary comes off as very formal and from people high up in society. No one talks like that)
Dancing terms
2015: throughaway
2020: throwaway
I'm taking from the wiggly red lines that 2015 has the wrong term lol
Suzuki going on E
2015: estrogĂšne
2020: ĆstrogĂšne
both spellings are correct but l'Académie only recognizes the 2020 one lol
Sugiki apologizing to Urashima
2015: Je l'ai égaré par mégarde
2020: Je l'ai égaré par erreur
They mean the same thing. There's just very neat sounds coming from both and the alliteration is a bit different in both cases but they're both making my brain go !!!!!!!!!
2015: repetition of -Ă©gar-
2020: alliteration in R and assonance in Ă©
smooching the translator

Saludos!

The Art of Going Insane: 1
TAGS: Reaper/Gabriel Reyes x Reader, Omegaverse, Alpha!Reaper, Omega!Reader, Human Experimentation, Restraints, Nudity in an Un-fun Way, Rescue
RATING: MATURE
AO3 | Chapter List
SUMMARY:
Reaper bought your freedom from Tricell. That was  enough to earn your loyalty, and you followed him to Talon. A criminal  organization, yes, but worlds safer, more comfortable, freer than you'd  been in years. The fact he helped you murder all your tormentors bloody was just a bonus.
Or: What if Overwatch never rescued you from Tricell all those years ago, and they'd finished their work? A series of oneshots with no real plot just vibes. An AU for my story Annihilation Tango.
CHAPTER ONE:
The lab Reaper stalked through was cold in every sense of the word. Humming fluorescent lights washing out the hallways, white walls and tile, dead, eerie silence, and of course, temperature, the chill biting into his skin like needles and flaring his pain levels.
At least in his SEP days there had been some sense of camaraderie and purpose in between being strapped down to cold tables and pumped full of chemicals. And the lab techs had tried their best to be kind about it despite the pain, but Tricellâs place in the mountains just carried an atmosphere of unwavering sterility. No room for comfort, even for the techs.
He stood out like a sore thumb, following behind Dr. Myrick to the holding cell of Talonâs newest asset, but the looks sent his way from the lab-coated workers passing them by werenât fear. He would have preferred fear.
No, it was a predatory sort of intrigued, sharp and analytical. He suspects if he wasnât backed by Talon they would be trying to get him in one of the cells he was passing - mostly empty, devoid of anything but cots. Some with blood and other fluid splattering the walls. Only a few with subjects, a lifeless look in their eyes. Theyâd long since given up.
He wasnât there for them, though. He wasnât there to do what Overwatch or Blackwatch shouldâve managed years ago, clean up Morrisonâs mess. He was there to handle Talonâs interests regarding their competitor, Tricell, and burn the place to the ground.
Of course, he would release them. No reason not to - any one of them that went to the press would just bury Tricell further. Some would get an offer to work for Talon as grunts or base staff, depending on how useful they were. Owing him a debt would only be a bonus. He suspected at least a few of them would start working for them in the next few weeks, preferring food and shelter in exchange for effort to going back to the streets they got picked off of.
He just had one thing to do before he started wreaking havoc. Everything else was already in place. But the main objective still hadn't been captured.
Patience.
Dr. Myrick stopped in front of a door labelled âSECURE AREA: AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLYâ and swiped their keycard. It slid open with a rush of cold air that blew his jacket behind him and caught in the fabric of his hood - revealing a hallway lined with alarms, several degrees colder than the rest of the facility. Just what he needed.
âSubject O-39 is kept separate from the others due to its special containment needs,â Myrick started, soft voice low and raspy. âIf it teleports outside the designated area without permission, the control collar will start delivering shocks of increasing intensity until the subject is terminated or returns to its room. Andra included the schematics in your information package so Talon can install its own version for monitoring.â
âThanks.â Gabriel held back a scoff. Like hell he would stoop so low. There was a line. And last he checked, people tended to work better when they werenât under constant threat of electrical shock. You werenât an exception.
No, he planned to use loyalty, or at least comfort, to win you over. It would be slow going, he was sure, but it would be worth it in the long run. This wasnât the dark ages, and Talon was fair to the people they worked with.
Especially when those people could change the game entirely.
Besides, as many horrible things heâd done, he would rather the people working with him had a choice.
âThe failsafe hasnât been needed in years, though - our conditioning team has done an excellent job with this one,â Myrick smiled, mistaking Gabrielâs response for skepticism, a prideful tilt to their shoulders as they tried to boast. âA perfect killing machine. After it adjusts to change of ownership, O-39 will single handedly extend Talonâs reach to new heights. Even itâs purely logistical skills should improve your efficiency.â
âSo, whyâre you selling her then?â He growled low, hating Myrick more with every word they spoke. âIf sheâs so perfect?â
âItâs capabilities are beyond our use,â They hummed, closing their eyes with a wistful sigh. âIâve crafted such a beautiful monster. Itâs a shame to see it so underutilized. Talon should be the perfect fit for it.â
Oh, it will be. Just not for the reasons Myrick thinks.
Gabrielâs comm crackled to life in his ear. âInside the security protocols already. Working on facial recognition of our new friend.â He could hear the grin in Oliviaâs voice. It seemed she was just as eager to destroy this place as he was.
He doesnât respond.
Myrick stopped in front of another door, black and red hazard tape running around its perimeter, and swiped their badge again. The door is simply labelled:
âSUBJECT O-39
EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTIONâ
It hissed open, and they stepped inside the cellâs antechamber and viewing room. Several guards with electric rifles lined the walls, all in the same blinding white shade as the lab techs. Most obviously, in front of them, separated by a large pane on one-way glass, is the subjectâs cell, like something out of Silence of the Lambs.
Youâre strapped to a tilted, contoured table with metal cuffs, arms held out to the side, soft side up so any IVâs can run into your veins uninterrupted, tubes and wires hanging from the ceiling in a tangled mess, unattached from you now as Tricell prepared you for transport. The only thing left connected to you was the feeding tube running up your nose, and the clear plastic muzzle over your mouth.
You had no clothes on, skin pressign directly against the uncovered metal, and the grey cast to your lips confirmed his suspicion that the temperature change was purposeful. They didnât even cover you with a paper sheet like they had in hospitals, or a gown.
âDonât be alarmed by itâs restraints. They became unnecessary long ago.â Myrick said like itâs something to rejoice in, but it just made Gabrielâs stomach sour. âIt wonât give you trouble.â
âThen why bother with them? And why the nudity?â He ground out, an ugly writhing thing erupting in his chest.
And heâd thought his sessions with Moira were bad.
Your eyes opened and snapped towards him in an instant, unexpectedly piercing, almost like you were meeting his eyes through the one-way glass and just daring him to try something. A challenge. To do what, he wasnât sure.
But you heard him speaking, that he was certain of.
âControl, Sir.â They nodded to you. âIt needs to know it has no autonomy. Not even to pace around a room. To ensure the conditioning sticks - and to tap into omega base instincts to protect themself via compliance.â
âRight.â Is all he brought up as a response, anger flaring up in his chest. He hadnât been told you were an omega. It was already about as bad as it could get, but now he was ready to tear someoneâs throat out. âIs there a way I could examine her, make sure she's not damaged?â
You looked away from him then, face scrunching up for a second before the tension released and you went lax, but he saw your muscles tense, hands working themselves into fists as much as they could with leather holding them down.
âOf course sir.â Myrick smiled, typing something into their data pad. âI wouldnât expect anything less.â
âPrivately,â He added, noting the way your jaw muscles worked and you sucked in a breath. You no doubt thought the worst of him. But it was necessary. âRemove the guards and close the partition. Shut off any audiovisual feeds. And remove the restraints as well.â
âWhat, but-â Myrick frowned, hand tightening around their data pad.
âIf your conditioning is as good as you claim it to be, then there isnât a problem. And I can handle myself just fine.â He growled, allowing every ounce of alpha authority to slip into his voice as he could.
âI donât recommend this course of action.â The beta was unphased, giving him an unamused look with a raise of their brow.
âIs she or is she not my property to treat as I care to?â He grit, taking a deep breath to steady himself, lest he kill someone before he got a hold of your controls and blows the mission.
Myrick sighed, finally, and nodded to the guard next to them, prompting them to empty out. âNo refunds if you damage it.â They snapped, the door closing behind them with an air of finality.
âWe good, Sombra?â He asked to the empty air.
âAll set, jefe. No ones watching you but me.â She responded. âBut if you get handsy I'll kill you.â
He rolled his eyes with an impertinent huff. âIâm not that much of a creep, Liv.â
âHey, just making sure.â
Once he was sure he was alone, he made his way to the door of your cell and unblocked it with his temporary access card. He walked in slowly, giving you time to adjust to his presence as you stared him down with deer-in-the-headlights eyes, whole body bristling with fearful goosebumps before you looked away with the saddest, most pathetic whimper heâd ever heard.
The restraints retracted with a click, but you didnât move an inch, wide eyes fixed firmly on the ceiling.
He stepped closer until he was close enough to touch you, and raised his hand. You flinched - and the fabric straps holding your muzzle in place shredded under his claws, the plastic mask falling to the floor with a soft clatter.
You recoiled from him all at once, falling off the other side of the table and landing with a bodily smack of flesh against tile. Another whine.
He caught the barest hint of your scent, sour with emotion, almost imperceptible after how much suppressants theyâd no doubt pumped into you, and went stiff. He walked around the front of the table so he could keep an eye on you where you curled into yourself, eyes focused on the ground.
You were terrified of him.
And why wouldnât you be?
It shouldnât unnerve him this much. Just minutes ago heâd been dying to have someone afraid of him. But Gabriel ignored it, pulling a small pack out of his jacket and tossing them at you. A black and red talon sweatshirt and sweatpants. Heâd expected you to be in a hospital gown anyway, and was just glad heâd thought ahead. âGet dressed.â
Your expression is bewildered, but you wordlessly comply, hands shaking.
âDo you talk, or did they condition that out of you?â
You raised your gaze and stared at him blankly, pausing from pulling on your pants just long enough to make him feel like that was a very stupid question to ask.
âThatâs fine,â He huffed. âYou donât need to.â
âYou wonât believe who this woman is, Gabe!â Sombraâs voice spoke in his ear again, and you tilted your head at him. So you heard that, too huh? Acute senses. âLieutenant Y/n Hawthorne of Overwatchâs 24th wartime division. She served under you in the Omnic Crisis!â
Gabriel frowned underneath his mask, eyes going straight to the scar under your right collarbone where an SEP tattoo shouldâve been. âDisappeared during the Crisis, too.â He muttered under his breath. He remembered all too well searching for Inferno Squad, half-manic and sleepless, before the damn UN called off his efforts and told him to focus on fighting the Omics.
Heâd never gotten over it, really. How could he let an entire squad vanish into thin air under his command?
âHawthorne?â He asked, voice gentle but insistent, and you rewarded him with another bewildered, confused look, lips parting softly. You might not remember your old life properly, or your name, but at least it seemed you recognized it. And that was a start. âYou're being transferred to Talon effective immediately.â He pulled the remote out of his pocket, making you wince and turn your head away, looking down at the floor as a gesture of submission. âIâm turning off your location restriction. You're sticking by me and helping me finish my mission. Understood, Lieutenant?â
You swallowed thickly, and nodded, hand fisting into the fabric of your sweatpants. It suddenly struck him that you still didnât have any shoes. He hadn't thought about that. He would have to handle that later, get you all the clothes you needed once he got you settled.
He wondered idly if your nesting instinct was repressed as much as your voice, or if you would take the opportunity with gusto. He could only guess.
But, more importantly, âWhen we get back to base that control collar is coming off.â
How many times in one conversation could he prompt that look from your face? A combination of confused mistrust and reluctant hope all swirling in your expressive eyes. Like you didnât know if you should believe him or not. You had no reason to, really. Not yet. But you will. Eventually. He was sure of it.
He held out his hand.
You looked at it like you expected him to strike you or claw at you or worse. But slowly, shakily, you took it, and he hoisted you to your feet, his other hand grazing your hip for just a second, and he felt you shiver in his arms.
âFirst Mission:â Reaper let you go, and you stepped away from him with soundless footsteps. Still, you kept within arms reach. He pulled out his shotguns from the mist and twirled them around his fingers, eyes on you the whole time to keep track of your reactions. Unfazed. âDestroy Tricell and take all their data. No holding back.â
And slowly, with dawning realization, you grinned, and then broke out into raspy, hoarse laughter.
Now that was something he could get used to.
A/N: Pls Comment. I need it or I'll die.

Salud!

Maybe taking Zed-not-Zed directly to Hermitcraft was a bad idea.
In his defence, Tango didn't know he liked the taste of human. Joe and Cleo manage to subdue him (courtesy of stubbornness, Cleo being the first resident human-eater of the server, and a dart gun with sleepy juice) Grian has a panic attack, and the half of the server that isn't trying to figure out how to un-feral Zedaph is tasked with convincing him it isn't his fault for having a parasite stuck in his chest.
It does not go well, but it goes.
Tango sits down to sift through the internet for possible answers, and he decides that it went very, very bad, because there is a "dead or alive" poster of Zedaph's blurry figure circulating the front page of half a dozen news outlets.
Oh boy.
Zed-still-not-Zed twitches in his makeshit cage, then wakes up with a screeching, ender-cry. Well, that tranquilizer didn't last long.
Much to the relief of all the surrounding humans (and other beings made of red meat) Zed-still-not-Zed is satisfied enough by the chest full of chicken to not, in fact, teleport out and start eating them.
They've got a human-eating-wanted-poster-having-feral version of Zedaph stuck in a cage, a guilt-ridden Grian, and absolutely no clue what to do with either.
Small progress. He's happy with chicken.
Small.
Progress.

MARILYN MONROE
June 1, 1926 - August 4, 1962
Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson)Â was an actress, model, and singer. Famous for playing comedic "blonde bombshell" characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and early 1960s and was emblematic of the era's changing attitudes towards sexuality. She was a top-billed actress for only a decade, but her films grossed $200 million by the time of her death in 1962. More than half a century later, she continues to be a major popular culture icon.
"When I was five I think, that's when I started wanting to be an actress. I didn't like the world around me because it was kind of grim, but I loved to play house. When I heard that this was acting, I said that's what I want to be. Some of my foster families used to send me to the movies to get me out of the house and there I'd sit all day and way into the night. Up in front, there with the screen so big, a little kid all alone, and I loved it.â ~ Marilyn Monroe,1962
Lucille Ball never worked with Marilyn Monroe, but meet her in 1953 at Ciroâs Nightclub on Sunset Strip, along with Betty Grable, and Red Skelton. Monroeâs immense popularity permeated Ballâs work none-the-less.Â
At the start of âChanging the Boysïżœïżœ Wardrobeâ (ILL S3;E10) the gang is heading to the movies to see âThat picture weâve been trying to get to for weeks with Marilyn Monroe.â The movie is likely Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which premiered in New York City in July 1953. On November 5, 1953, the same day the episode was filmed, Monroeâs new film How to Marry a Millionaire was released in the US.Â
The November 1953 cover of TV and Movie Screen Magazine saw Lucy (in âThe Camping Tripâ) and Marilyn wearing the dress she wore on the May 1953 cover of Life Magazine promoting Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.Â
Also on November 5, 1953, the town of Monroe, New York (60 miles from New York City) was temporarily renamed Marilyn Monroe.
The film later inspired much of the plot of âSecond Honeymoonâ (S5;E14), Lucyâs failed attempt to make their transatlantic crossing to Europe more than just a working vacation.  Â
Monroeâs dinner companion turns out to be a seven year-old boy, just like Lucyâs ping pong partner turns out to be young Kenneth Hamilton (Harvey Grant).Â
Lucy gets stuck in a porthole just as Monroe did, also draping a blanket around her shoulders so passersby wouldnât know what was really going on.
The idea for the burlap potato sack dresses in âLucy Wants A Paris Gownâ (ILL S5;E20) comes from Monroeâs real life.Â
In 1951 Marilyn Monroe took a series of high fashion photographs wearing a potato sack as a response to a journalist who said that she might look sexier in a burlap sack than her usual fashion choices.Â
Lucy first wore burlap at the end of âMr. and Mrs. TV Showâ (ILL S4;E24) as her scary version of a Phipps make-over.
In âRickyâs Movie Offerâ (ILL S4;E5) Lucy and Ethel argue about who looks more like Marilyn Monroe.Â
While Lucy has the facial features, Ethel has the blonde hair.Â
Fred (hilariously) settles the argument! Â
In âRickyâs Screen Testâ (ILL S4;E7) a long list of Hollywood names are dropped in anticipation of hobnobbing with celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe.Â
In âLucy and Harpo Marxâ (ILL S4;E28) Lucy wonders if Ethel might pass for Monroe to a near-sighted Carolyn Appleby. After Ethel tries to walk like Marilyn Monroe, Lucy decides that ânobody is that near-sighted!â Fred says that he looks more like Marilyn than either of them!Â
In âLucy and Supermanâ (ILL S6;E13), the Applebyâs come over for a social evening that Ethel calls âthe bore warâ because the couples only talk about their children. As the scene opens, Caroline is in mid-sentence talking about a Marilyn Monroe film.
CAROLINE: â...and he picked up Marilyn Monroe, slung her over his shoulder and carried her off!â
Although the title is never mentioned, the film they are discussing is Bus Stop, starring Marilyn Monroe and Don Murray. It was released in August 1956, two and a half months before this episode was filmed.
When âLucy Does the Tangoâ (ILL S6;E20), she stuffs eggs down her blouse and Ethel stashes a some in her back pockets. Lucy tells her, âWhatever you do donât try to walk like Marilyn Monroe,â but the âyolkâ is on Ethel when Fred suddenly enters through the kitchen door!Â
In âLucy the Gun Mollâ (TLS S4;E25), Lucy plays Lucy Carmichael and Rusty Martin. The name Rusty Martin was probably derived from Lucyâs hair color and the surname of Mary Martin, who introduced the song âMy Heart Belongs to Daddyâ (music and lyrics by Cole Porter) in the 1938 Broadway musical Leave It to Me. Marilyn Monroe sang it in the 1960 film Letâs Make Love. In that same film, Harry Cheshire, who played Sam Johnson in âOil Wellsâ (ILL S3;E18), played Monroeâs father. Jerry Hausner (Jerry, Rickyâs Agent) and Joan Banks (Reporter Eleanor Harris in âFan Magazine Interviewâ) played uncredited supporting roles.Â
Lucy and Marilyn shared a leading man in handsome Keith Andes. Andes was Lucyâs male lead in Wildcat on Broadway, and later played was featured on three episodes of âThe Lucy Show.â Â
In 1952, he played opposite Marilyn in Clash By Night, an RKO picture.Â
In âLucy Gets Ricky on the Radioâ (1952), the June 3, 1952 of Look Magazine actually had Lucille Ball and Marilyn Monroe on the cover! Monroe was promoting Clash by Night, and Desi had written a feature on his wife for the magazine. So Marilyn actually did appear on âI Love Lucyâ - if only in a still photo.Â
Some Like It Hot (1959) is arguably one of Marilyn Monroeâs most popular films. What does it have in common with Lucille Ball? In 1958, both Lucy and Monroe were depicted at San Diegoâs famous Del Coronado Hotel. It is the hotel that the Ricardoâs and Mertzes stay at in âLucy Goes to Mexicoâ (LDCH S2;E1) as well as the backdrop for much of the film. Although Desilu filmed establishing footage of the hotel, the cast stayed in Hollywood, while Monroe went on location (as seen above). In âLucy Goes to a Hollywood Premiereâ (TLS S4;E20), Mr. Mooney says he wouldnât buy a second hand nightie if it had been worn by Jack Lemmon in Some Like It Hot.
The Irving Berlin song âThereâs No Business Like Show Businessâ was sung on âI Love Lucyâ and âThe Lucy Show.â Although it was originally from the Broadway musical Annie Get Your Gun (1946), it also served as the title and was performed (by Merman) in the Marilyn Monroe film Thereâs No Business Like Show Business in 1955.Â
In 1952, Marilyn co-starred by Richard Widmark (âThe Tourâ ILL S4;E30) in the film noir drama Donât Bother To Knock. The film also featured âLucyâ players Lurene Tuttle (Fine Arts League President), Verna Felton (Mrs. Porter), Gloria Blondell (Grace Foster), as well as Harry Bartell, Olan Soule, Robert Foulke, and Bess Flowers.
That same year, Monroe starred in Weâre Not Married! opposite Lucyâs friend and former co-star Ginger Rogers, as well as Eve Arden (âHollywood at Last!â), Paul Douglas (âLucy Wants a Careerâ) and Eddie Bracken (Too Many Girls).Â
One of Monroeâs most iconic moments came in March 1962 when she sang âHappy Birthdayâ as a birthday present to President John F. Kennedy in a public birthday celebration also attended by Lucyâs friends and co-stars Jack Benny, Jimmy Durante, Henry Fonda, Danny Kaye, Shirley MacLaine and Elliott Reid. A year later, Lucy Carmichael also gave Kennedy a present, a sugar cube replica of the White House on âThe Lucy Showâ with Elliott Reid doing Kennedyâs offstage voice as well as playing a small on-camera role!Â
"I never quite understood it, this sex symbol. I always thought symbols were those things you clash together! That's the trouble, a sex symbol becomes a thing. I just hate to be a thing. But if I'm going to be a symbol of something I'd rather have it sex than some other things they've got symbols of." ~ Marilyn Monroe, 1962
Monroe was married (and divorced) three times:Â
James Dougherty, Merchant Marine & Policeman (1942-46)Â
Joe DiMaggio, Baseball Player (1954-55)
Arthur Miller, Playwright (1956-61)
In âLucy is Enceinteâ (ILL S2;E10), Fred gives Lucy a signed baseball for his future 'godsonâ. When he asks Lucy to read out the signature, she at first says âSpalding,â the ballâs brand name, but then finds it is signed by Joe DiMaggio.
In âRagtime Bandâ (ILL S6;E21), Little Ricky asks his Uncle Fred:Â
LITTLE RICKY: âWhoâs Joe 'Maggio?â FRED: â'Whoâs Joe 'Maggio?â You talk more like your father everyday.â
In âSales Resistanceâ (ILL S2;E17), Lucy compares herself to Willy Loman, the title character in Death of a Salesman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Arthur Miller first produced on Broadway in 1949 and made into an Oscar-nominated film in 1951. Â
Speaking of husbands, Desi Arnaz has something in common with Marilyn Monroe, too. Both of their souses were accused of being Communists by the House Un-American Activities Committee during the 1950s. Both Lucille and Arthur Miller were cleared of charges and their careers continued, although that was not true for many celebrities of the time.Â
Monroe died on August 4, 1962. The toxicology report showed that the cause of death was acute barbiturate poisoning. Empty medicine bottles were found next to her bed. The possibility that Monroe had accidentally overdosed was ruled out because the dosages found in her body were several times over the lethal limit.
The character of Ginger, the movie star castaway on âGilliganâs Islandâ (1964-67) was described during casting as a combination of Lucille Ball and Marilyn Monroe. Tina Louise had Lucyâs red (ginger) hair and Monroeâs shapely physique. The series also featured Natalie Schafer (Phoebe Emerson) as Mrs. Howell, and Alan Hale Jr. as the Skipper. Hale performed on âThe Lucy Showâ and âHereâs Lucyâ. Series creator Sherwood Schwartz was a Lucy fan. His brother Elroy Schwartz actually wrote scripts for Lucille Ball.Â
In the 2013 web-series âRyan & Rubyâ both Lucille Ball and Marilyn Monroe are given special thanks for their inspiration. The last name of star and creator Ryan Burton's character is "Carmichael", the same as Ball's character on the "The Lucy Show". In Ryanâs kitchen there are fridge magnets with photos of both Lucy and Marilyn. Â
Lucy and Marilyn are street characters at Universal Studios theme parks, their iconic hair and costumes making them instantly recognizable.
The same day Marilyn Monroe was born in 1926, another Hollywood icon with connections to Lucille Ball was also born, Andy Griffith. To read his birthday blog, click here!Â

So, completely random question, but do you have any Argentine bands/ songs that you would recommend?
I do! I sure hope read more works now because thereâs an organized list of recs under here. Â
If you want to dive into my all-argentinian playlist, you can do that, itâs currently sitting at a lot of hours though, but Iâm putting it out there. For specific recommendations, Iâll divide them by music genre.Â
EclecticÂ
Las Taradas, an all-girl small orchestra, their songs are very different but started as a 40s/50s-style music band that evolved into something different and cool. Some of my favorites from them are Que No, Que No, La Preferida, En Bancarrota and Oro y Plata.
Rock
Sui Generis was pretty iconic and some of the songs are still super poetic, Canción Para Mi Muerte and Rasguña las Piedras are two of their most iconic songs.
Soda Stereo was pretty famous outside the country but idk if youâd know them. Some of their most famous songs are De MĂșsica Ligera, Persiana Americana and Cuando Pase El Temblor.Â
Rata Blanca is a personal fave because it mixes metal with a fantasy genre vibe in some of their lyrics. Some faves are AĂșn EstĂĄs En Mis Sueños and La leyenda del Hada y el Mago.Â
Caballeros de la Quema has some bops, including Fulanos De Nadie and Sapo de Otro Pozo.Â
Almafuerte is 100% metal, if thatâs more your thing, Se Vos is a pretty cool one of theirs.Â
Bersuit has a lot of combinations but my favorite songs are Perro Amor Explota, El Tiempo No Para and Un Pacto.Â
Folklore/Cumbia
La Yegros is another singer I really love, some of my favorites from her are Viene de Mi, Magnetismo and Ya No Llores which is a duet with Miss Bolivia, another really cool argentinian singer/rapper, some of her most famous are El Paso, Paren de Matarnos, Rap Para Las Madres and Bien Warrior.Â
Tonolec is a duo and they do a really cool modern take on folklore and use qom and guaranĂ in their songs very often. A couple favorites are their version of Zamba Para Olvidar and Que He Sacado Con Quererte.
Kumbia Queers have a pretty great new bop called Seivi too.
Dance/pop
For something more dance-y, Iâd recommend old albums of Miranda!, Iâm not super fond of their new stuff but their first two albums were part of my youth lol, Tu Juego, ImĂĄn, Don and Yo Te DirĂ© are some good ones.Â
Musical Theater
Marisol Otero is a treasure, she was Donna in Mamma Mia! and her version of The Winner Takes It All, Hay Solo Un Ganador is still my fave. She also did versions of Defying Gravity and Beauty and the Beast in Spanish (she played both Belle and Mrs. Potts).Â
GerĂłnimo Rauch didnât record his versions in Spanish as Marisol did, but hereâs his Music Of The Night and his Bring Him Home.Â
The cast recording of Casi Normales (Next to Normal) is pretty fire, here are Superboy y la chica invisible and Sin las montañas.Â
Tango
Tita Merello is a classic favorite of mine for traditional tango, Se Dice De MĂ, Decime Dios, DĂłnde EstĂĄs? and Arrabalera are great.Â
Bajofondo combines traditional tango with electronic and dance, some of their best are Paâ Bailar and El Mareo.Â
Other random things
MarĂa Elena Walsh was a poet, writer and musician who made a lot of songs for kids and was pretty much iconic in many ways. Some of her best, for adults or kids, are Como La Cigarra, CanciĂłn del Jardinero and CanciĂłn del JacarandĂĄ.Â
#long post when expanded#hopefully because tumblr is acting weird#music recs#there's a lot more but I thought that was a wide enough range?#anon#anonymous#Anonymous
