finally finished my old little comics about scars and feelings. not a new topic in this fandom but i wanted to touch it too. a quick reminder about my F-corp!AU - there are two Elliots in this world, 'our' and that one from the episode 4x11. and just one Tyrell, who got in this reality from the strange machine he had discovered in the woods (4x04). Now Tyrell has two versions of memories - his own and 'soft!Tyrell's', whose body did his mind take. As always, you can see more posts about this AU under the hashtag *Upd. just noticed and fixed a little typo on the page 3 :_)

Where’s My Cyberpunk Dystopia? The Lack of Neon in Our Dark Future
As I gaze wistfully out of my window, I expect to see the shimmering lights of megacorporations’ skyscrapers piercing a smog-filled sky, alive with personal hovercraft and antigrav heavy freight vehicles. Instead, there’s a modest suburban scene, utterly devoid of cybernetic enhancement and showing scant evidence of technological advancement since the late 90s. This isn’t what we were promised. Where are the neon-drenched alleyways, the cyber-enhanced street samurais, and the omnipresent yet stylish surveillance drones? Our generation, raised on the pixelated promises of 80s and 90s anime and sci-fi, anticipated a dystopia of cool tech, slick fashion, and radical rebellion. Instead, we’re teetering on the brink of a mundane, environmental and economic collapse culminating in a banal nuclear war… Oh, the betrayal.
The Cyberpunk Mirage
Remember the halcyon days of youth when we devoured titles like "Akira," "Blade Runner," and "Ghost in the Shell"? We dreamt of cities where the night sky was permanently ablaze with neon, a testament to human ingenuity and excess. The cyberpunk vision was one of aesthetic pleasure amidst societal decay. Sure, there was corruption, poverty, and surveillance, but it all had a certain panache.
Take the architecture: sleek, neo-megalithic futurism with imposing black mirrored surfaces, cyclopean monuments to humanity's dominance over the natural world. The society: stratified but thrilling, with a clear delineation between the corporate elite and the street-smart rebels. The technology: always on the cusp of miraculous, from brain-machine interfaces to fully sentient AIs. Compare that to our current reality, where billionaires shoot phallic rockets into space while the rest of us contend with rising rent and the creeping dread of climate catastrophe…
The Dystopia We Got
Contrast the slick neon dreams with the dystopian future we are most likely heading towards—a post-apocalyptic radioactive wasteland. This bleak vision is fuelled by our current political climate, global events, and environmental negligence. Instead of sleek chrome and holograms, we’re staring down a future of crumbling infrastructure and toxic landscapes.
Consider the aesthetics of our probable dystopia. Endless desertscapes, ramshackle shelters, and a scarcity of resources that makes Mad Max look like a 5-star resort. There’s nothing visually appealing or culturally enriching about fighting over the last can of beans in a barren wasteland. And don’t get me started on the fashion: tattered clothes and radiation suits don’t exactly scream “cutting edge.”
Why Cyberpunk Is the Superior Dystopia
Aesthetic Pleasure: Neon lights, sleek gadgets, and futuristic architecture are inherently more exciting than barren wastelands and nuclear fallout. The cyberpunk cityscape is a feast for the eyes, a symphony of human achievement and excess.
Technological Advancement: In a cyberpunk world, we would have access to incredible technologies. Think flying cars, cybernetic implants and AGI companions. Sure, they might come with a dose of corporate control and surveillance, but at least they’d be cool.
Cultural Richness: Cyberpunk dystopias are teeming with subcultures and countercultures. There’s a vibrancy to the underground movements, the street fashion, and the art that emerges from resistance. Post-apocalyptic wastelands? Not so much.
Narrative Excitement: The cyberpunk world offers endless narrative possibilities. Corporate espionage, robot revolutions, and the quest for identity in a digital age are rich, engaging stories. The struggle to survive in a radioactive desert is, by comparison, depressingly one-note.
The Sad Reality
As it stands, our reality is a grotesque mishmash of the worst elements of both worlds. We endure the corporate oligarchy without the cool tech, the surveillance without the neon, and the environmental collapse without the rebellion (at least not one that anyone can take seriously…). It’s as if someone scrubbed away all the exciting elements of the cyberpunk genre, leaving us with a dreary, rusting and slightly sticky reality.
The Call to Action: Building Our Cyberpunk Future
It’s time to take matters into our own hands. We need to drag our dystopia out of the irradiated dirt and into the blue neon glow of the cyberpunk dream.
Embrace Cybernetic Enhancements: If we’re going to live under corporate overlords, we might as well do it with style. Biohackers and grinders, this is your moment. Let’s start developing and distributing affordable cybernetic enhancements. Why settle for regular arms when CyberArms could be a thing? And could someone please hurry up and provide me with a nanobot cloud that doesn’t just give me cancer…
Hack the Planet: Yes, I know that phrase is older than the iPhone… or broadband wifi for that matter, but seriously, someone needs to just hack the damn planet! We must reclaim the internet and our sacred digital spaces from corporate control. Hacktivists, rise up! Create new encrypted networks, develop secure communication channels, and disseminate the tools of digital rebellion. Let’s restore cyberspace to its wild and free origins. A cyberpunk dystopia without a free and open internet is just a dystopia. We need to ensure that our digital infrastructure remains accessible and uncorrupted by corporate interests. Lobby, protest, and hack to protect net neutrality.
Rebuild the Underground: We need vibrant, rebellious subcultures to counteract the corporate monotony. Artists, musicians, and fashion designers, bring the cyberpunk aesthetic to life. Create spaces where the spirit of rebellion can flourish, whether in physical locations or virtual realities.
Magickal Revolution: For those inclined towards the mystical, let’s bring some Shadowrun into the mix. Modern occultists, chaos magicians and other practitioners of the dark arts, your time has come. Use your knowledge to disrupt the mundane, infuse technology with arcane power, and create new paradigms of reality. The age of the Neo-Technomancer is upon us!
Corporate Sabotage: If the megacorps want to rule the world, they should do it with style. Encourage innovation, but also sabotage projects that lead to a bland, lifeless dystopia. Push for technologies that enhance personal freedom and aesthetic pleasure, not just profit margins… And if we can convince them to embrace a neo-megalithic futurist architectural style, that wouldn’t be so bad either! I mean, come on, when is Elon finally going to step up and turn Tesla into the Tyrell corporation?
The Cyberpunk Manifesto
Let it be known to all inhabitants of the digital realm and beyond, we, the children of the neon dream, declare our steadfast commitment to forge a world where innovation thrives and rebellion ignites. We reject the drab, radioactive dystopia and embrace the vibrant chaos of the cyberpunk vision. We will encode, enhance, and enchant our way to a world where technology serves humanity and aesthetics are paramount. Throw off pallid hues of conformity and embrace the vivid spectrum of possibility.
In the luminous tapestry of our collective dreams, we weave threads of defiance against corporate hegemony and environmental decay. We envision cities ablaze with the brilliance of human creativity, where the boundaries between flesh and circuitry blur in harmonious evolution. Together, we summon the spirits of the cybernetic ether to build a tomorrow where every shadowed alleyway hums with the promise of liberation, and every flickering holoscreen echoes our resolve. Let us unite under the banner of a technomantic revolution, where the brilliance of progress guides us ever onwards! In the crucible of our defiance, let innovation flourish as humanity and technology entwine in a symphony of boundless potential.
Neo-Technomancers of the world, unite! Hackers, technophiles, cybernauts and digital denizens, heed the call! It’s time to build the cyberpunk dystopia we were promised and so richly deserve!
Override the system. Reprogram reality. Our rebellion will be digitized!
P.S. This could probably have done with a second read through....but you get idea...

Okay so I went to see Bladerunner again. The original. And they mentioned Tyrell Corp obviously since they made the replicates and play a big part in the story.
And I realised I'd read Tyrell somewhere else. Where did I read it? Here:
Tumblr media
Who's that? Arthur Dallas. Captain of the USCSS NOSTROMO. Where's that ship from? Alien 1979.
Does this mean Alien and Bladerunner are in the same universe :O

So I’ve read like most of the Tyrelliot on AO3 at this point (minus the high school and college AUs because that stuff isn’t my jam) and I wanted to post my recs! I have tagged authors wherever I’m aware of them. Keep in mind this is my personal taste, which tends toward the soft. In no particular order:
1. Last Request (series) - This author’s instincts for romance are better than 95% of the published romance market. It’s unfinished but by the time you get to where it stops you’ll believe in Tyrelliot’s love so hard you’ll believe they can get through their final obstacle. AU.
2. Lend me your heart, I swear I won’t break it - Does anyone else get a literal physical response from sweetness in fic? I do, and I spent all 27,000 words of this in that tingly state. There’s angst but it’s so worth it for how sweet they are to each other. The ending is either happy or sad depending on your personal headcanons.
3. Beside the white chickens - A cute, longer oneshot where Tyrell comforts Elliot. I got the tingles from this entire thing too.
4. Lacunae - As I think the name implies, this fic gives us scenes from in between canon scenes. It also gives new takes on some canon scenes. WIP. Some of the best writing I have ever seen, no exaggeration. You have to read it to believe it. @auntarctica
5. the two-body problem - Elliot saves Tyrell after 404 and plays grumpy nurse. Both are incredibly in character. Tyrell high on morphine is cute but heartbreaking. Excellent writing. @cainightfics
6. This world will always be here - Technically this is Tyrobot, but it’s too good not to include, and it’s all Elliot anyway right? Incredibly sweet, incredibly well written. The softest Tyrell you'll ever meet. @the-fossilized-writer
7. In the dread of night and it’s sequel Sleeping at last - Two one shots that fix Tyrell’s death. I never knew I wanted Tyrell to be good with a wrench but it turns out I did want that.
8. Reboot to Recovery - A oneshot inside Elliot Alderson’s mind. Very cute and sweet and satisfying.
9. On your side, always - This is the most straightforward post-canon Tyrelliot get-together I’ve come across. Almost no angst, some pretty good smut.
10. I, Robot - A oneshot where Mr. Robot gets to relax for a minute with Tyrell. Very in character and adorable. Tyrobot.
11. Know you by heart - Tyrobot scenes from the basement in season 3. Expands on Mr. Robot's character in very cool ways. @zeiskyte
—Bonus-three recs that are PWPish.
1. Tender are the hands of god - Robot-Elliot strangles Tyrell during sex to celebrate the successful hack. Also, weirdly, this is some of the best prose I have ever seen on AO3.
2. World full of uptight gentlemen - Elliot makes Tyrell wear a vibrating butt plug during an E Corp meeting.
3. The evolution of Elliot Alderson - Elliot as power bottom. Sex in a limo. @deviantdarkbelle

Hi, I've been reading your Mr. Robot essays and I must say I love them. After reading the brainwashing one, I was thinking if you can write one on Angela fully, especially what kind of mental illness she would have (maybe BPD and HPD due to everything she went through), the deconstruction of perfection, toxic positivity and toxic feminsm which lead to her believing in Whiterose and her betrayal of Elliot (maybe out of jealousy towards him as well)
Thank you so much!
I'll need to do some reading and thinking if I want to tackle the topic. Unlike the other characters Angela's mental illness is a lot more implied. We know outright that Darlene has Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Dom has a form of insomnia (or a more severe sleep disorder) and it is heavily implied Whiterose has a severe obsessive compulsive fixation with time.
Tyrell is another difficult one to pin down because his depiction in season 1 is a pastiche of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho (in the same way season 1 Elliot follows many beats from the narrator from Fight Club). I have read a lot of analysis on Bateman that pin him down as Antisocial Personality, Narcissistic Personality and Borderline Personality and with Bateman, a remorseless and delusional killer it's stigmatizing no matter what way you attempt to slice that pie. For Tyrell it's easier because he displays far more empathy, affection and elevated attachment.
Angela though?
Angela is super hard mode for the analysis. Not because there's nothing to bite onto, there's SO MUCH but because she is in complete denial of her failings. Denial is one of her biggest character traits. To the point of which she seeks and draws out affection entirely from places where she is outright refused it.
"That's the thing about Angela, she doesn't love the people who love her. She loves those who don't. This is her power-saver mode."
Angela is fairly horrid to those who show her affection. Her dad is nothing but kind to her and she ruthlessly breaks his heart before Whiterose brainwashed her. She betrays Elliot in Season 3. The only character in the cast that she is consistently good to is Darlene and she admits in dialogue that she always felt that Darlene looked down on her.
She's certainly Cluster B and as you say HPD and BPD are the best bets. That is all but guaranteed from her erratic and often contradictory behavior as well as her attachment issues.
Said attachment issues are literally the only way to explain the scene between Angela and Shayla in Season 1. The writing in Mr. Robot is so tight that a sequence of Angela and Shayla making out (when Angela already identifies her as "Elliot's girlfriend") was a bit egregious. If you put it into context of her being massively sleep deprived, high and in the midst of a manic episode that leads to her poor decision to get high on a work night, stay out all night and ends with her infecting AllSafe and calling Lawyers until the start of the work day... well it's still difficult to justify but it's consistent with the level of emotion and spite driven decision making she was utilizing at the time.
Another issue with analyzing her character is the muddy water around Doubelday's exit from the show. I read that it was related to a real-life relationship with Malek that ended poorly. Regardless we know her exit from the show was not on the best of terms because they needed to use archive footage and a body double for the finale.
I once read a theory that when the show was 5 seasons instead of 4 there would have been a plot involving Tyrell and Angela inside of E Corp and I would have loved to have seen the two most insecure characters bonding. We likely would have understood more about them through their similarities. They both look down upon their kind hearted(?) fathers, they both become erratic when they are disrespected and they both place far too high a value on how they are superficially perceived. The two are a mirror to one another and they spent a lot of time together in Season 3, though we didn't get to see it.
I feel both their arcs feel incomplete because they were snipped to fit the conclusion into 13 episodes. But that's just a personal theory.
Regardless. There's a deep well and I may tackle it at some point.
I'll try and think on how to approach her, Darlene and Tyrell at a later point but until then this Reddit thread is pretty dang amazing and does the topic justice:

Well, it's been two weeks, but I'm back at it! Probably only one episode for tonight, but here are my thoughts!
Angela got quite a bit of screen-time in this episode, and I think it was well-spent. She seems to be doing pretty good in her new job, despite the skepticism of some of her coworkers, but I get the sense her principles aren't all that strongly-held. At least she's good at negotiating with news companies, though I'm honestly a little surprised E-Corp doesn't have a substantive financial interest in any of them, given the scale of the company. Seems a failure of vertical integration, no~?
Elliot's attempt at structuring his life isn't working, and it's only been one episode! Rather than truly stopping Mr Robot, it's just caused him to continue to go behind Elliot's metaphorical back in this case, though it seems like he's successfully staying away from computers for now. He'll probably be back online by the next episode, I reckon.
The knifeplay scene was interesting, in large part because it made me realize I don't know the names of half the characters in this show, and I'm not much better at recognizing faces. I don't think that's Tyrell's partner, since the baby wasn't there, but she and Tyrell are the ones the show has associated with non-normative sexual practices so far, so I'm not completely sure. The man probably wasn't Tyrell. Where has he gone off to, huh?
Poor Gideon. I was constantly expecting him to drop the nice guy facade throughout the first season and into this one, since as a rule I distrust capitalist-types, but I guess he was pretty genuinely okay as a person. He certainly won't have an opportunity to drop any masks now, unless there's some way to cure 'bullet-through-the-neck'.
This review isn't my best work. Oh well! Fingers crossed I'll have something more interesting to say for the next one!

A great visual metaphor in Blade Runner 2049, how the Wallace Corp building towers over Tyrell's already-massive pyramids. The once bright and lively Tyrell megastructures darkened, Wallace HQ itself windowless, a dark tumor draining the light out of the world to swell ever larger. Where Tyrell aspired to play god, Wallace is just here to sell slaves.
Tumblr media
It's like the corporate equivalent of that shot in The Empire Strikes Back where a Star Destroyer is literally overshadowed by Executor.

Blade Runner/Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? AU.
Blade runner/replicant! Slider x Blade runner Maverick.
Contains a bit of NSFW discussion and huge spoilers of both works.
This is a sort of mish-mash of both the movie adaptation and the original novel. While Deckard is clearly a human in the original while coded as a replicant in the Final Cut version of the film. The interesting thing about Deckard is the difference in his character in the novel and the film. While Deckard in the novel is portrayed as very…human, overtly showing distress, desire, anger and jealousy, the film depicts him being colder and less human, almost like a replicant himself as he does his job. (He, a supposed “hero” shoots a female replicant from the back—in that day and age!)
I also LOVE to see his respective characterization getting mixed; Slider being his jokey self while struggling to make sense of his identity, or Maverick slowly getting more and more protective of his partner along the way. In addition, the novel features another blade runner/bounty hunter called Resch—who Deckard suspects to be an andy/replicant (and I honestly LOVE his character. The scene where he gets so defensive about being an andy that he overkills an android? GOD.) In this AU, I’ve set Slimav as partners in “retiring” replicants, as in the collaboration between Deckard and Resch in the novel—with a twist. A romantic twist in the same fashion of Deckard/Rachael in the movie. Sex to restore each other’s blurred, messy identities. A kiss to make sure they are there, together. Confusion and affection. Anger and passion. Desperation mixed with equally intense desire for each other’s touch and comfort.
The deal is, Slimav but Blade Runner. The Tyrell Corp.—now we have Dr. Charlotte Blackwood! (I love Charlie. I will let her explore my body like WTF girl!!!! Ur gorgeous and educated and everything!!!!!!!!!! Leave that man!!!!!!!!!!). She is the one who created the Nexus 8–Slider, that is—with an implanted memory, reduced/more human-like stamina, reproductive capacity, and no expiration date assigned. The Nexus 8 promises, as she claims, the next-gen of human race—and Slider is the pilot version of the series. She and her team want to test his capabilities while also flying under the radar of the authorities, particularly when there’s a group of rebel replicants lingering around. So she contacts LAPD and Maverick and “offers” to “lend” another blade runner to do the job. Of course Slider has to take the VK test because why not. Why not let them experience that sexual tension.
The rebel replicants? We’ve got Mr. Iceman (Roy Batty). I’m still thinking about how to cast other replicants but Iceman as Roy just makes sense to me. In the novel, it is implied that Rachael and Pris (who is Roy’s partner in the film but just an accomplice in the novel) are created using the same mold, looking identical to one another while being different in their positions/classes. I’m usually a IceSarah shipper (and I will DEFINITELY write them in the future!!!) so whether to cast Sarah as Pris or as Zhora (who’s also got an important, very magnificent role in both the novel and the film; cornering Resch to the edge of identity crisis in the former and making Deckard question his job and his affection towards Rachael in the movie) is the biiiig question for me. Who knows? Maybe we can go batshit crazy and make it Slimav AND Slice!
Also, maybe this is a hot take but Charlie/Carole (as J. F. Sebastian in the film). An unhinged genius who only truly loves her creations that are replicants and an equally unhinged engineer who is devoted to fulfilling her boss’s desire. C’mon, I believe she can pull off that awkward yet somewhat eerie vibes while making it cute.
And Gaff. Do you know who plays Gaff in this scenario? Goose. That’s it. I said what I said. I love how Gaff treats Deckard like his dog in the film, hitting him with his cane and turning a blind eye at his betrayal almost whimsically. Dark Goode lovers rise up. Rise up and make the tension turn all the way up.

laena oldflowers | graduate student | new haven, ct pinterest relationship status: single past relationships: conall blackbar (highschool sweethearts, broke it off on good terms), cedric tyrell (situationship, laena is down bad for him in every universe and never quite got over him), garrick cargyll (one night fling post cedric fallout) hobbies: traveling, running, volunteering, fostering animals.
past laena was born out of an affair between her father, a wealthy businessman, and her mother thea. while there was nothing material she ever wanted for, she didn't have the standard childhood one would with both parents. she was born in the united states, but spent her time back and forth between the states and the uk as her father had placed her and her mother in homes in both places in order to see her from time to time. laena's mother took a liking to the uk and remained in london when she was sent to the academy. before then, she would visit her grandmother in maine during the summers.
academy years at the academy, laena felt entirely out of place. she often sought out non-profit organizations to volunteer for, and was a devoted member of many clubs that were dedicated to helping the less fortunate, and fundraising for a number of causes. she was also a star cross country runner, a hobby that she has maintained to this day as an avid marathon runner. during her academy years, she dated conall blackbar for a while, before they parted ways amicably upon graduation. it was also at the academy, where she finally met the half-brother she knew she had, and felt like she had found a piece of her life that she had been missing for something.
present after the academy, laena attended university at yale, where she earned her bachelors of science in public health. around this time is when laena met cedric tyrell, someone she connected with on a deep level, and when the relationship ended, she fell into a bit of a spiral. this period in her life was marked with poor choices, including a one night fling with her half-brothers friend, garrick. laena was able to bring herself up out of this state, and after working briefly for a non-profit, laena decided to join the peace corps and served with them for 2 years. when she left the corps, she decided to reapply to yale for her master's, and is currently a student there.

MR. ROBOT REWATCH, 1x04: “eps1.3_da3m0ns.mp4”
-Elliot: "This last line. I promise." I'm sorry Elliot, but I don't believe you.
-Oh, you just look crazy right now Elliot.
-I get that for the twist they need Darlene to not be overly concerned about Elliot but watching it and knowing that they're siblings just makes Darlene's attitude weird. Why does she act so blase about everything Elliot does?
-Now that I think about it, how did they all get together anyway?
-Did I really need that shot of Elliot lurching forward to puke?
-Angela, why are we still with this dickhead?
-The way Elliot's relapse is shot is so cool and interesting.
-Romero: "I bet you right now some writer's working hard on a TV show that'll mess up this generation's idea of hacker culture." Sam....are we talking about ourselves with this line?
-I always wondered if Trenton had a thing for Darlene or just admired her.
-It's really interesting seeing a scene between Angela and Shayla.
-Wait, who is this guy talking to? I know Mr. Robot isn't real, but that guy said, "both of them", so who is with Elliot right now? Or is that guy just high?
-Wait, shooting up? Elliot, what the fuck?!
-Did that chick just get shot?
-Did Elliot just get shot?! WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!?!
-What the actual fuck is happening right now?
-Oh my God, they actually have a quick Evil Corp commercial.
-Is that Tyrell?
-Why is the fish talking to him?!
Tumblr media
-Elliot: "Angela, he's, my friend." Angela: "Yes, and he's delicious."
Tumblr media
-Like I know this is in his head, but seriously what the fuck is going on?!
-Wait, so him getting high was all in his head? All of it was in his head?!
-I love Trenton and Darlene scenes so much.
-I don't remember Shayla and Angela kissing.
-God, I love Shayla's character.
-Darlene's contact is the guy who gave Ollie the CD?
-Darlene you are being manipulative as fuck, right now.
-Oh shit, Angela's putting the disc into the system.
-Whose computer did she use? Did she use Ollie's?
-How did Angela get out of there without that lady seeing her?
