also. figured out (part of*) issue of why lean forward like shrimp in wheelchair despite very leaned back backrest

is because dump issue!!!!

so. standard is chair 1 right. everything straight & perpendicular & 90 degree. this make body sit like shrimp because need use core to make sure body stay up and well

so lean backrest back, make angle more than 90 degrees. then soon after, make dump bigger, so back of seat lower than front of seat. figure 2 exaggerated but something like that. this work because dump make sure gravity -> body actually lean back (i think)

but then got bigger wheels (like. still same 24 rim size, just wheels bigger bc have anti pop technology). erased much of dump. think body don’t naturally tolerate angle??

don’t know how explain. but is dump issue

but already at greatest dump current chair can naturally do. just erased by wheel

so thinking abt other ways to increase dump… or increase difference between front seat height vs back seat higher

maybe put in foam wedge under cushion?? but custom cut expensive

my new doctor said that she wouldn’t prescribe the meds I’ve been taking for 12 years until I did a bunch of bloodwork. which okay, fine! I went and did a bunch of bloodwork. then I get a $300 bill because for some reason my insurance deemed this routine set of labs “not medically necessary.” so now I have to go through the whole appeals process, which last time took five months and still left me with a $100 bill for reasons they could not clearly explain to me. it’s just such a racket! like I’m not a doctor! my doctor is my doctor and if she says some procedure is medically necessary I’m going assume she is right! why would I think to call my insurance every single time to verify if every single thing she requests is covered or not covered? esp something like bloodwork where it’s like ??? it’s always been covered before??? why would that suddenly change?? this system is SO STUPID

I wish we had more info on adachi's family life besides some tidbits about his relationship with his parents, but speculating is fun too! I have some disorganized thoughts below the cut about if Adachi had a sibling

I imagine he is an only child (I initially assumed he would have told us about a sibling but Adachi loves to hide information about himself and also I have had plenty of instances irl where I have known someone awhile and didn't know they had siblings) but I could also see him having an older sibling with a significant age gap?

I think it could really feed into his inferiority complex (that he tries to hide lol) having an older sibling who did well and set high expectations. maybe the older sibling was the planned sibling and he was more of an "accident." maybe his parents were doting at times, just not towards him. maybe by the time he came around, they didn't feel like putting in as much effort and wanted him to just follow in his older sibling's footsteps. it's entirely possible he's an only child and his parents set high expectations either way, but I think it's interesting to think of an alternate possibility. the reason I suggest the two would have a significant age gap is 1) that can make it harder to bond with a sibling if you're an adult and living your own life while they're still in, say, elementary school (not that it's impossible! just requires more effort) and that 2) in my experience and that of those around me, parents can be VEEERYY different in their parenting from one child to another, but especially so when you compare one sibling to another born 10 years later. I think all of this could contribute to the persistent resentment that is so central to his character.

I also think this would draw further parallels to him and the dojimas. like the Dojima family being what he wants but can't have. I think he relates to nanako even if he doesn't realize it re: feelings of parental neglect. and I think having a big brother like yu who was so caring would have been good for him

you might have already answered this before but what’s the process of paying for your reduction been like? is any of it getting covered by insurance? I’ve wanted a reduction for so long but it seems so far out of reach

Well, I'm uninsured, and lost my beautiful dollars at the start of the year so for me, the process of paying for my reduction has been fundraising the money, and subsequently paying the full price for the operation.

this post isn't very good news, and I'm sorry about that. My condition has been fluctuating in this past week and I fear it's taking a turn down again. On top of that, I've been trying to catch up with medical bills and dealing with the associated paperwork. Behind the scenes, fic editing has slowed down to a near halt because a lot of the fic ended up having to be rewritten last second. We're almost at arc 2 (this first arc isn't very big) and I have very little written for it; that is to say, I would've had to take a hiatus anyway to try building back up a buffer for it.

Since it was going to happen anyway (regardless of it happening now or later) I've decided to take a (hopefully small, god willing) hiatus now instead to focus on my health and the responsibilities I've been putting off, on top of editing the rest of arc 1 and building that buffer back up. I don't know exactly when fic posting will start up again, but I can only express that I don't want to be away for too long. I'll still be around for messages, and I'll try to post status updates as they come in (those will probably become the new weekly/biweekly posts instead of fic posts until I have enough fic to start posting regularly again).

i got my wisdom teeth out (abridged version, i was not put under, i babysat a half hour later. long story) and i am in PAIN. also taking out the bloody mess of a gauze every hour fucking sucks. i almost yakked every time i pulled it out of my mouth. the worst part? every time i burp i taste remnants of paper towel. i need to know if anyone else can relate. this is so gross. im tired
