The weather had changed. Flowers bloomed along the Amsterdam canals in little window boxes. Back home in Swynlake, the flowers were blooming too. In the Hauntley garden. Home at the Morey Cottage. New life, blooming everywhere.

With the new season came the farmer's market. The fairy flotilla. And, soon enough: prom. And a year of being with Snow.

It was still a little ways out, but it felt like it was coming up fast. Everything did, these days. Gem wasn't gonna drag his feet on this idea, even if it was embarrassing. If only because he knew this was gonna take way more than one session.

So, he'd texted Joanna and asked her if she'd teach him how to dance.

Nothing crazy. Just--more than shifting his weight from one foot to the other. He knew that Snow would want to dance at prom and Gem hated doing things he didn't know how to do. And he especially hated doing them in front of a bunch of fucking people watching. He didn't want to embarrass himself.

And he still remembered the way Snow had cried in the Triton's bathroom after missing prom. He didn't want to be the reason she cried about prom this year.

It was stupid but, well, so was love.

"Firstly," Gem said, standing up as Joanna entered MAFIA's practice room. Usually used for combat training. "No making fun of me for not knowing what the fuck I am doing. We can't all be prima ballerinas."
