It is actually complicated cause its like. They dont really care but at the same time they do really care a lot.
(Cw: talking about fictional queerphobia in a fictional cult, this is how these cats see things, not how i see things)
-Cult doesn't really think that She is like "ur queer? Ewwwww". They dont think that being queer is wrong. BUT:
-Colony is very anti having an identity. Not even queer identity just like. How dare you have a self? This is why they don't have names. They dont really think you should think about yourself that much and find something else that isn't their god.
-So like if you are in colony and go "actually i think im a tom cat" they would be like "ooookay mr i dont have time for god i cant be just one of the cats"
-Cult really wants you to have babies especially if you have sun fur. But like they are cats so attraction is rarely part of having kittens, they are just cats, they have kittens to have kittens. So like it is totally normal for queer cats have kittens. Non queer cats also often have kittens with cats they have no feelings for. But there are cats who dont want to and they do get side-eyed.
-If you are like "im gay" cats will be like "ok you'll still have kittens right also ig you dont have time for god mr i like to cat-kiss boys"
-Suncats are afab (unless there was like no suitable afab cats then the god will choose amab cat and be pissy about it) and yes they can be trans but this won't likely be respected, since the cult sees their good as a Girly Pop (note: god cant speak, we dont know if She is really a woman or whats happening) they will most likely ignore suncat's identity.
-all of this "you shouldnt have time to think about yourself" stuff is why none of the cats have canon queer identities. Except for the previous Suncat who is nonbinary/transman (i have not decided)

I started coming out of the closet among friends and family in late 2020. When quarantine started lifting and more businesses opened back up in 2021, I re-entered the workforce. I wanted to be recognized as a transman despite being pre-hrt and any surgeries. Originally, I interviewed and took a position as a horticulture technician. In my case, that title was a fancy way of saying "I water, prune, and tend to indoor plants at local businesses."
The second day in, I told my boss that I was trans. She said that was fine as long as it didn't interfere with work. That seemed reasonable. It seemed like a green light. She referred to me by my preferred name vs my legal name, too.
Everything was okay for the first two months. I learned the general checklist for plant care and common issues to look out for/how to remedy them. Most local businesses were friendly enough. The dentist's office on my route said that I was doing a good job. It seemed like I was fitting in okay and performing well. I thought I'd be here for awhile and even hoped I'd be there after an indefinite point when I'd start HRT and what changes would come with that.
I wanted to be referred to with he/him pronouns. It was getting to the point where I was felt like I was increasingly uncomfortable with pretending to be a cis woman and damn, I was sick of pretending to be something I'm not. Presenting as cis was temporary for me; as in there would be deliberate effort on my part to change my features and appearance. I'd been there long enough that people knew my name, I had a route, etc. It'd help me feel comfortable there; the last step to really being part of the team, right?
And considering my boss' initial reaction, I thought being accepted was a real possibility. I asked to be referred to with he/him pronouns around the shop. Her first reaction was "You haven't told any of the customers about this, right?" No. Then she followed up with, and keep in mind that I'm paraphrasing here, "I can't see you as a man. I'll always see you as a woman in my mind. I'll try to use your pronouns but I just can't see you as a man." I don't remember the exact phrasing. In essence, she said the unspoken part out loud that some cisgender people still operate on if they knew you before you started transitioning.
After that discussion, I had trouble performing regular job tasks. I fumbled badly enough that I was laid off a week later. I had one more interaction with my boss after getting laid off; she used my legal name. I want to reiterate: I honestly did fuck up badly enough that I don't chalk up getting laid off to discrimination. Maybe I should have reached out to HR about accommodations in regards to pronouns or coming up with a workable game plan to come out more gracefully at work. I don't know.
After that job, I went strictly by my dead name and presented as cis at other jobs and in public. A combination of my experience with this boss and some disparaging remarks from my dad made a certain part of my reality painfully clear: my potential employment and means to live were threatened by transphobia. If I existed as a trans person in public, especially if I didn't pass, it made people uncomfortable. Especially potential customers, people that signed my pay checks, etc. I was convinced that I'd be in the closet forever; that it wasn't safe to come out and transitioning would never be an option for me if I wanted to live comfortably in any capacity.
This became untenable. Thankfully, I'm in a spot where I was able to start HRT and I'm about six months in now. I came out to my current employer and she was very accepting. She's the best boss I've had in the last ten years, hands down. I'm sharing this story because I want to say, very loudly: If you're trans, you deserve to exist. Bigots can be uncomfortable. Its miserable staying in the closet, trying to stay small/stealth, and you deserve to be yourself in public. Unfortunately, I know this is becoming increasingly difficult, but I hope you feel supported and continue to fight for your right to exist fully as you are in every part of your life.
If we have to work to live, its not unreasonable to ask to be recognized as your true self at work. It means that you'll be a much happier, productive person and despite my own crappy experiences, I think there's still plenty of managers and employers that understand this. I was lucky enough to find one.
Hopefully, you'll find that too. Whether it's a direct employer or something like Patreon supporters, art clients, whatever works. You deserve to be you at home, in private, in public, and definitely at work.

As a black woman, any feminism that treats womanhood as something you can opt into rather than an oppressive social construct that is used to oppress females while empowering males will always fail to meet my needs. When we broaden the definition of "woman" to the point that it doesn't have any bearing in material reality we lose the ability to clearly discuss the ways that women are treated specifically for being female (and while all women are affected by misogyny, a lot of more brutal and repressive forms of oppression tend to affect brown and black women disproportionately).
"Human female" is a clear and useful definition. Is 50% of the population not inclusive enough for you?
You’ve done what no gendercrit in my mentions has done and actually put an effort in an argument so I’ll be more nice than I usually am about this
For one, I just don’t understand how the terf/radfem/whatever ideology is meaningfully conductive to supporting black women. Ignoring the black trans women who get murdered and the response being just to call them men, the racism in the ideology is very specific. Like, I literally saw a tiktok of someone calling Zendaya a secret man and doing skull measurements to prove her point.
Skull measurements of a black women. In the current year. To defeat the evil trans women. Sure.
And I’ve said this before, but any ideology that arbitrarily cuts off womanhood at the point of how “woke” it is (which is a common accusation of trans people) will just end up fucking over black women. After all, it’s already happening.
And another thing: people opt into gender all the time. Gender is social, and we all socially decide our own perception of ourselves and decide our perception of others. Currently, the personal is political, and the radfem answer, like the fascist answer, is to just make some peoples personal too political, to the point of ostracizing them. But the real answer is to build a world where the personal isn’t political at all, because why should it be? Humans created the world the personal lives in, we can create it again. TERFs don’t abolish, let alone answer the questions of gender, they just enforce it in their own placebo-empowering way.
A TERF would tell you upholding personal as political is a meaningful protection of women when it’s really upholding the societal ills that hurt them, noticeably nonwhite women. This is another tie to fascism, and so is the idea that trans “ideology” is throwing out material conditions.
Throwing away the way that we have internalized the personal as political is not rejecting materialism. In fact, it’s refocusing the conversation on material conditions. The trans community’s material conditions, if you haven’t noticed, are fucked. Trans women speaking out against oppression and the right to self actualization is not an attack on cis women’s rights anymore than poor black people speaking out against oppression and the right to self actualization isn’t an attack on poor white people.
There is no zero sum game in this society, only the ones that the oppressor class create for their own gain. TERFs uphold the white supremacist and pro-capitalist idea that rights and support are things that marginalized people have to pry from eachother, denying women the ability to build their own united front against the threats of fascist misogyny and capitalism. Basically, TERF ideology is on the side of the people enacting these systems onto women. In countries where trans people are more accepted, there is no statistical evidence for cis women getting attacked. In fact, the opposite happens.
And let’s be clear, shit like “adult female” is a very poor way to describe women. It’s usually backhanded in its implications against trans people obviously, and the people using that term aren’t sending their best, but let’s ignore that. Let’s just look at it in an entirely descriptive lens. Let’s just look at it as an ability to describe 50% of the population.
Nah.
There’s a lot of good arguments against this but there’s one I prefer.
The issue, however, is not whether we can find some biological property that is acquired by most girls at least roughly at the same time that girls become women. Rather, the issue is whether the possession of any such property is necessarily tied to being a woman. There is reason to think that it is not, for we do not distinguish women from girls on the basis of whether they have reached sexual maturity or full height, or on the basis of whether they have completed puberty or have completed puberty but not too recently, or even on the basis of statistical averages for when any of these biological milestones are reached. That would entail that the age at which a girl becomes a woman is variable in ways that it is not. There is a wide range of ages at which girls complete puberty, but we do not, on that basis, recognize a wide range of ages at which girls become women. Moreover, research suggests that (in the United States) African American girls complete puberty, on average, almost a year earlier than white girls, and most girls complete puberty earlier than most boys. However, we do not infer that AfricanAmerican girls become women almost a year earlier than white girls, or that boys become men later than girls become women. Nor would we take seriously the suggestion that, because historically the average age for the completion of puberty used to be much higher, people used to become men or women much later than they do now. Insofar as we are prepared to recognize variability in the age at which people become women or men, it is typically because we recognize that, crossculturally or crosshistorically, variation in social norms has resulted in variation in the age at which manhood or womanhood is reached. In certain cultures, for example, young teens who pass certain initiation tests are then recognized as men or women. At least many of us are willing to allow that, in those cultures, manhood or womanhood arrives earlier than in our own.
It seems plausible, then, to suppose that, in the sense of “adult” in which one becomes a man or a woman when one reaches adulthood, “adult” denotes a social category. In the United States, for example, we start calling someone a man or woman at the age of 18 or 21 or thereabouts, not because we believe that some biological landmark has been reached within that age range, but rather because of social factors such as the new legal rights and responsibilities that are acquired at those ages and cultural norms about the appropriate minimum age for marriage, independence from one’s parents, etc. This is not to deny that “adult” has one or more biological senses that can be applied to mature human beings no less than to mature chimpanzees, but biological adulthood is certainly not the only factor that we rely on as a basis for distinguishing women from girls. We rely on social factors as well.
If you applied to a lot of concepts the same strict understanding radfems view womanhood, you’d begin to fall apart. People already meme it enough (“A chair is…”) but it’s true.
I’m not typing this much just because I happen to be 🏳️‍⚧️ trans 🏳️‍⚧️ . It’s because the only way to be ideologically consistent in a progressive worldview like mine (Not as a brag, just as a political descriptive.) is to understand the identifier of gender, like other things, as a varied and complex thing with various degrees of human interference & creation, and the path towards revolution does not require the subjugation or oppression of trans people.

Transphobic shitheads pointing out Simone's exact same features than those fanfic writers who tried to other Kate's characteristics as not beautiful enough?! SOOOOO SURPRISING!!!! How odd that so many people were crying injustice when they were called out for obvious transphobic dog whistles.
The day I decided to “denounce” that disturbing trend in fics is the day I got blocked by half of the fandom, not even when I started to answer why I dislike JB asks.
I don’t give a fuck tho, I would do it again in a heartbeat. No matter how many times they call me a controlling psycho who wants to police writers in the fandom.
And you know what? One of the hardcore defender of the “Kate has a sharp jawline therefore she is the less feminine Sharma sister” wrote a fucking grooming fic in which Anthony is basically a pedo.
It can’t get any fucking lower than this in this fandom full of weirdos

i was watching sonic the hedgehog 2 with my mom whos been radicalized by youtube and is transphobic, and doesnt know im transfem. she assumed tails was a girl, and when i said hes a boy, she went "oh they do this all the time changing characters gender and race and sexuality for no reaosn."
and when it was revealed tails was in face a boy she literally would not accept it and used female pronouns for miles the entire movie.
anyway this is why i now headcanon tails as transmasc.

every time I think about tentatively coming out and being public IRL a "friend" or coworker says something intensely transphobic or the religious nuts will pull something threatening The one LGBTQ friendly bar in my area recently had a painted millstone set in front of it, referencing Luke 17:2 a verse that refers to throwing a person who leads children astray into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck
Tumblr media
We're a coastal town so this is not an idle threat. The police collected the stone but refused to call it hate speech and instead said they were just classifying it as "litter" and the owner of the stone could come and pick it up if they wanted it back. As long as I blend in I'm safe but part of me is so sick of spending every day hoping I don't do anything to let the mask slip on accident. I feel like I can't get to know anyone because I'm constantly lying to them about who and what I am and I always have to be afraid that seemingly nice people will turn on me if they find out I'm anything but cishet. What will it cost before I can live somewhere and feel like I can actually be safe to be myself?

I have seen this, unfortunately very lightly, in the news and it’s disgusting and shameful that not once have I heard or seen anything until I saw this post about how she was a transgender girl and bullied for it. This is a hate crime and all of this seriously needs to be brought to more peoples attention, for her and for others like her who deserve so much better.
One of our siblings was murdered recently, and you need to know about it.
TW // transphobia and violence against trans people
Brianna Ghey was a 16-year-old trans girl from Warrington, England. On Saturday, February 11th 2023, Brianna was found dead on the side of a park with multiple stab wounds. Two 15-year-olds have been taken into custody in connection with her murder.
Tumblr media
People in the Warrington area have alleged that Brianna was being bullied in school, and that neither the administration nor the police did anything.
Despite this, local police have said there is no evidence that the attack was hate-based and most news articles don't mention her status as a trans woman. This is deliberate. This is genocide by the hands of transphobes and TERFs.
Britain does not have gender self-identification (your legal gender being determined by how you identify and not any arbitrary medical requirements), meaning even in her death she will be deadnamed and misgendered on her death certificate.
She deserved so much better.
Mourn the dead, and fight like hell for the living.

TW:transphobia, murder, transmisogyny, death, suicide mention
this is mostly a rant that i just need to get off my chest
Trans women are censored, harassed and ignored, stalked, and another trans child has been murdered. its a bad time to be trans in many countries rn
If you think that those things dont go hand in hand then you are wrong. Ignoring a trans women when she reports harassment and stalking is how trans women get killed. when a trans man gets excluded from lgbt spaces bc he is transitioned and people think that men=bad, it leaves him without support if he is suicidal or being harassed. When a child is seen as something other than human because they are non binary, officials don't call an ambulance when they are injured and thats how kids die. What happened to Nex was murder.
The ceo isnt committing murder, but he is contributing to the culture that gets people killed and i hope he feels bad about it, especially since tumblr is the one place where a lot of trans people feel safe being themselves.
@photomatt when the statistics have the faces of your friends it is very hard to take you seriously when you have been so glib about the experiences of the trans women on this site. Trans women are some of the most brutalized and murdered people in the world so sorry if I find the car hammer explosion joke funny. Against @predstrogen you look pathetic. I can guarantee she has gotten real death threats. How do i know? bc I have too, as most of the trans people online have.
Enough of that. FELLOW TRANS!! FELLOW QUEERS!!!

Drama alert
Consider unfollowing person mentioned because of their attitude, I don't feel like a persona like this belongs in this space without making it unnecessarily toxic
Lol I got a person who
- tried to insult me for being fat
- said I'm not ana
- made up an arbitrary weight and proceeded to try to insult me based on that, even tho I never weight that much
Like oh I'm so sad rn because they call me fat it's not like I call myself fat every single day. So original. I'm crying.
I mean frr that like lighting up a match in a burning forest
Why you may ask ? The answer is simple
✨TW:transphobia✨
I'm not saying you have to be supportive but in case you follow this person really consider if you want to follow someone what talks and acts like this

Honestly now I kinda want a book where Trans people were inherently magic throughout history, but now in the modern day we're getting this sudden influx of magic-users in a long time because trans individuals are able to transition and thus fully unlock their power
Maybe it's not even the full-transition that effects this, maybe it's just when they are fully affirmed in their own mind that they feel like themselves
