Stop Functioning When Receiving a Kiss on the Cheek

Ginro. Okay so he’d probably ask for it, but still never see it coming. He stops functioning. Like falls on his face if you ACTUALLY kiss his cheek. He tries to walk off to brag, and legitimately trips and eats shit.

Chrome. A blushing mess. Can’t talk. He’s just staring at you now. Eventually, he tries to talk, but he stutters a bit as he asks you what that was for.

Kinro. Doesn’t know what to do with himself. Did you just kiss him…? It was the cheek, but still. He’s never really had anybody do that so… he’s blushing and doesn’t know what to say.

Senku. He’d stop dead in his tracks. And that might not be because he’s nervous. Could be. If he likes you, his face loses color and he’s just stunned. If he doesn’t like you, his face loses color too, but he immediately starts complaining.

Francois. They’re shocked. They hardly ever break their professional butler persona (persona? Nah, just their lifestyle atp) but this one time… they blush a bright red. If they return the feelings, they might just sneakily give you a kiss on your cheek too once they calm down.

Tsukasa. Hear me out. He’s touch starved. He’s not one to lose his cool though, but admittedly, he stumbles a bit. He doesn’t show it too much, but he’s nervous.

Gen Asagiri. Ah yes, so great at acting and pretending, yet he fails miserably to act cool. His cheeks go red for a moment, but he pulls himself together fairly quickly to tease you.

Hyoga. He’s shocked, but he doesn’t show it at all. Maybe his cheeks get a little pink, but he does not fumble. He probably asks you what you did that for, depending on who you are, it may be laced with danger or may not.

Ryusui. He might just immediately pull you into a full blown kiss tbh. He’d tell you he loves you. He’s not scared. And he’s not lying either.

Shishio Tsukasa:

If you have social difficulties and don’t understand social or societal norms then he’s fine with that. If you’re the kind of person who has no sense of personal space he’s happy to share his with you, hug on him all you like.

If you have trouble with speech or communication then he’ll come up with some kind of system that allows you to communicate with him even if he’s the only one who understands you. If you need anything all you have to do is point it out and he’ll get it for you

If you’re anxious then you can rely on him entirely. Anything that makes you anxious will be dealt with by Tsukasa. If social situations make you anxious then don’t worry, you can hide behind his giant form

If you’re a fidgeter or have high energy then he’s happy to let you play with his hair or hands if it helps. If you do strange things like walk in circles repeatedly then he’ll make sure no one bothers you and that you’re able to do your thing

If you have certain things you fixate on or have special interests then he’ll try his best to get those things for you. Like if you enjoy gardening or just digging then he’ll find or make you tool for you to dig with

Asagiri Gen:

If you have depression or depressive episodes then he’s your man. He keeps and eye out for your feelings and monitors you. If you start to show signs of depression then he’ll use his mentalist tricks to keep your mind occupied on other things

If you have anger issues or aggression problems then he’ll come to the rescue with his mentalist tricks and help you calm down either by talking to you or helping you in whatever way he can

If you have speech issues then he’s happy to help you learn how to communicate better. Leave everything to him. If you have social anxiety or difficulty understanding social or societal norms then he’s happy to take the time to gently and carefully explain everything to you

If magic is one of your special interests or a fixation or yours, then he’s happy to let you watch his magic tricks and he’ll either perform for you, or if you’re curious then he’ll teach you all the tricks he knows

If you get anxious or have certain tics/fidgeting then this guy has eagle eyes that were practically made to pick up your behaviors. If you need something to fidget with then he’ll let you play with his hair. If you get nervous or anxious then he’ll distract you from whatever is bothering you

Ishigami Senku:

If you have poor or abnormal posture that could lead to health issues later in your life then he’ll make some kind of brace for you to wear that will correct your posture so you can avoid any future problems

Doesn’t give a damn about eye contact. If it bothers you then he may try to help you overcome it by having staring contests

If you’re fixated on science or how things work then he’s happy to take the time to explain to you how things work. He’ll even set up small experiments for the both of you.

If you’re a fidgeter and have a bunch of energy then he’ll gladly use your natural abundance of energy to do hard labor or whatever he needs you to do

If you struggle to communicate then he’ll help you come up with a way to communicate such as teaching you Morse code or something

Saionji Ukyo:

If you have noise sensitivity then this guy’s your man. Since his hearing is especially good he’ll help you out by finding really quiet places for you

If you’re interested in archery then he’ll teach you, and if you just need something to fidget with then he’ll happily have you help him make arrows

When it comes to speech, he’s probably the first person who knows what you’re trying to say. He’s happy to communicate for you if you need it

If you’re anxious or depressed then he’ll happily hold your hand and find something to distract you. Perhaps by giving you something to fixate on

Chrome:

If you’re sensitive to noise or light then he’ll make some kind of thing to help you like ear plugs or a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes

If you have issues with fidgeting then he’ll make you things to fidget with.

If you enjoy wandering around and collecting things then he’s happy to take you exploring with him. You guys could spend hours exploring but he’s always got an eye out for you in case you get too fixated

Abnormal Posture and poor eye contact don’t really bother him. If you struggle to look people in the eye then he doesn’t care. If your posture is weird then he’ll probably just think it’s fine, as long as it doesn’t have any negative consequences in the long run. If your posture has the potential to cause issues later in your life then he might be willing to create a brace like Senku

Tsukasa

- It’s known that Tsukasa is a very nice and charismatic guy. And honestly, ya, he is.

- But you have to admit he’s still a bit intimidating to be near him. The man can kill wild animals with his bare hands, that’s crazy!

- Because of this knowledge, you try to keep your distance. You would never want to accidentally get on his bad side.

- Of course Tsukasa noticed this but he couldn’t understand why you avoided him.

- He knew you didn’t hate him. Why else would you be nice whenever you two would have a small chat?

- There was tension between you guys and he didn’t like that. So he thought the best way to solve this is to have a private conversation…. In the forest… no one to see. Ah yes, this totally isn’t freaking you out at all!

- Not only were you already tense from him bringing you out here alone but a wild animal showed up and attacked.

- It wasn’t a big deal, Tsukasa dealt with it easily.

- After the sudden scare, he turned toward you and lifted a hand to give you a head pat. He paused, seeing you suddenly flinching away, and everything made sense.

- “Oh, I see.”

- His hand dropped to his side and he took a step back to give you space.

- There’s not much that he can change about himself to make you feel at ease, he knows this. But he still tries to be more mindful, slower, when you’re around.

- “Please let me know if there’s anything I can do, I don’t want to let my appearance stop us from knowing each other.”

Hyoga

- Finally, the fight with Ibara has ended. And the Kingdom of Science had found an ally with the villain Hyoga.

- It was a wobbly alliance, but you had to admit it turned out just fine

- Even though Hyoga fought for most likely selfish reasons, there was still a spark of admiration for the man

- Before, during the Stone Wars you couldn’t help but be amazed when he held his spear. He just looked so cool!

- And of course this made you want to learn too.

- Asking to be trained by him was nerve wracking and you weren’t sure if he’d accept. But surprisingly, he agreed. Anyone is welcome to learn as long as they train correctly.

- And now here you both are, alone in the training room. The others had taken a break but you wanted to push yourself just a bit more; you were finally making progress.

- Hyogas ways of training definitely weren’t for the weak hearted. You’ll have many bruises and blisters by the time the day’s over.

- Suddenly, your balance was swept from beneath your feet and you landed on the hard floor boards with a thud

- Hyoga moved his spear and for a moment you thought he would hit or stab you with it. A random reminder of how cruel he once was

- Your arm quickly went to block your face for… nothing?

- “That won’t do. How do you expect to fight against your opponent if you freeze up?”

- When you let your arm down, Hyoga had his hand out for you to take.

- “I won’t ask why, but it’s best we take a break.”

- And that’s not an option, he will make you take a break.

- He won’t bring it up, and he won’t treat you any different. More so keeps it in mind to try not to let it happen again.

Well, it is a very well known fact that Francois is an excellent cook who loves to share their passion with others. They will make sure you get the most excellent of their pastries, and if you’re not a big fan of sweets, don’t worry – Francois will make sure to prepare some salty snacks for you. And if they hear you talking to anybody about craving any type of food, be sure you'll get it the next day for the adequate meal!

Receiving: acts of service, words of affirmation

Since Francois spends most of their time on cooking, they don’t have that much energy left to complete other chores. Make their bed, sweep the floor and leave a cup with water beside their bed and trust me that it won’t go unnoticed. Also, don’t forget to compliment the food that they make! Say a few nice words about it and tell how pretty Francois looks when they are focused, and watch as your partner turns all flustered and red!

Kinro

Giving: acts of service, quality time

Just look at Kinro and tell me he won’t be doing things you didn’t even ask him for, just to make your life easier. You can’t? Exactly. He will do anything that you have even the slightest problems with and more. Kinro also loves when the two of you can find some time in your busy schedules just to waste by going on a walk or laying in tall grass, talking about everything and nothing.

Kinro is not the best at starting any form of physical affection with his loved one. He’s a bit shy when it comes to this department. But it’s not like he doesn’t like it – in fact, it’s quite the opposite… Holding his hand, surprise hugging him from behind, peppering his face in kisses – it makes the butterflies in his stomach go crazy! Also, find some time to spend with him. Even 5 minutes will make Kinro the happiest man in the whole world!

Ryusui

Giving: words of affirmation, quality time

Oh, he will compliment everything about you. Especially things you’re insecure about. He may call everyone beautiful, but, in his eyes, you definitely take the trophy. Ryusui loves when you spend time with him while he’s working on his projects. He’s a bit clingy, and hates to be apart with the one he loves. So if your work requires you to be in a specific space, he’ll follow you around! He can draw a project of a ship even on a dusty floor if it means he can spend time with you!

Ryusui loves to be praised. Tell him that he’s done a good job. That he looks handsome. That he’s a good boy! Tell him every positive thought that comes to your mind when you see his snarky smile! Say that he’s the smartest! And spend time with him. That’s obvious after what I’ve written above. If you can complete your work by his side, he’ll insist that you stay with him. Even if you two will only be sitting in silence, doing your own stuff, he loves the aspect of you being around.

Senku

We’ve seen Senku doing things for the people he cares about to make their life better. He’s a person who wants to help everyone by nature. So it’s not a surprise when one day you bitch about a thing in your life that brings you inconvenience, and after a few days Senku gives you an invention that’ll make your problem disappear! He also gives you a bunch of words of affirmation. But don’t even think that they’re compliments. Senku always tells you that he’s only stating facts! 

Receiving: words of affirmation, quality time

Just as much as Senku adores the way your face turns red when he tells you compliments facts, his ears change their color red when you do the same to him! He knows that he’s doing a good job. He doesn’t need reassurance. But your words… are just so nice… it makes this nice warm feeling form in his chest! Senku has issues with overworking himself. So he’s always glad when you smack the back of his head, forcing him to take it easy and rest for a bit. Especially if it can be done in a nice company.

Tsukasa

Giving: acts of service, physical touch

It’s really hard not to give everyone acts of service. But just look at this precious boy! He wants the best for his loved ones! Of course he’ll do things you haven’t even asked him for, just so you don’t have to worry about them! He’s also a big fan of your touch. Stroking your face lovingly with his thumb, kissing your forehead before sleep! He always wraps his arm around your waist or holds your hand when you’re in a crowd, so that he’s sure you’re by his side.

Receiving: physical touch, words of affirmation

Do the same with Tsukasa! Treat him like a babygirl that he truly is! Wrap your arm around his waist, and if you’re strong enough, keep him on your knees when you talk about your days! Call him your pretty boy! Brush his hair and put flowers in it! Make him feel like a prince! He feels stupid because of this, but he loves when you baby him like that! Ofc it’s only for you to see.

-Leans towards the PVP or action genre when it comes to games. Whether that's something as simple as Minecraft or an actual PVP game like Valorant, he usually doesn't mind playing those or anything in between.

-Usually chill streams and tries to keep his cool when he gets tilted but sometimes it's ineffective. He doesn't really have a preference between single and multi-player and probably plays with Toya a lot.

-Not a big money spender in general. He'll spend a little bit if needed but usually he stays ftp in most cases. Unless it's something he really wants then he might spend a little bit.

-> Toya Aoyagi

-Calm and chill streams 90% of the time. Usually he'll play some sort of indie game such as Stardew Valley or maybe Omori. He's a very casual player.

-Usually won't play multiplayer much and prefers single player. His fans aren't usually too crazy and I see him as a smaller streamer anyways.

-Very 'ftp" mindset. If he can achieve something just by playing the game, he won't buy anything. Only buys if it's an absolute necessity but usually stays ftp in any game, not just gacha games.

-> Tsukasa Tenma

-Super loud and popular streamer. His fans would convince him to play unsuspecting horror games and convince him that they're not horror related at all...

-Usually plays stuff that's on the popular side or stuff that Saki gets him into. He's not one to turn away a game just because it seems boring. He'll try and play absolutely anything anyone tells him to.

-Very loose streaming schedule that changes every week... He never has a definite schedule so it's a little hard to know when he'll stream but usually he posts something about it before he does.

-> Rui Kamishiro

-Puzzle games.. He'll always stream puzzle games. He probably also thinks it's entertaining to push the limits on games he plays and see how many bugs he can find in them.

-Has a set but not frequent streaming schedule. He streams less but he always streams for a long time since he usually is playing a puzzle game which could take hours.

-Not against playing horror puzzle games. If it's something he thinks might be entertaining, he'll give it a shot. Horror isn't something he'd usually go for but if it sounds fun, he'll try.

Tsukasa is looking in your direction again.

You never have to look up to see it, feeling his rich brown eyes searing into you even from a distance is enough to know, but this time you do. Flicking your gaze upward to meet his, you see the faintest hint of a smile on his face and he looks away, embarrassed. If you were closer you’re certain that his tan skin would be dusted with the faintest hue of pink across his cheekbones and the bridge of his nose - it has been all of the other times you’ve caught him so you can fill in the blanks on your own now.

“You could just speak to him, you know?”

Whatever reverie you were enjoying is quickly interrupted by your friend, the farmer, bringing a bundle of fresh medicinal herbs to your desk, plopping the twine tied bundle down on your work table. She folds her arms and leans over the table, bending at the waist, and you scoff.

“I don’t want to hear it from you.”

She shrugs and brushes the dirt she just flung across your table off with the side of her hand, letting it settle on the ground below both of your feet. It has been around a month since everyone arrived at the settlement and while you don’t ever dare assume things are going to be great, even before petrification your worried and logical nature served as a compass to keep you from doing so, they have gone better than expected. Everyone seems to get along well, the Ishigami VIllage settlers are eager to help and to find their place, and winter preparations are underway without issue.

You do have one issue, though, and he just so happens to be staring at you again even with the shield of your friend’s body between the two of you. Glancing over her shoulder, you don’t bother to meet his eyes and instead keep an eye on his form, thick forearms carrying unfathomably large stacks of lumber from one end of the camp to the other to build new pens for the horses. Tsukasa spends most of his time with them and he took the responsibility of creating new shelter for them on his own - the lack of manpower and muscle in the camp prevented this project from being completed until now.

He brought all the muscle and manpower you could ever ask for and it frustrates you to your very bones.

“I’ll bet he’s lonely over there by the stables all on his own.” Your friend teases and you shoot her a glance, pretending to inspect the yarrow and wild ginger she brought you to make medication with. “You should go and check in on him. I’m sure he’d appreciate it.”

Picking up the bundle, you wave it in her direction and point it toward the door.

“I’m just saying!” A poor attempt to defend herself but she tries nevertheless, shifting where she stands so that she’s no longer bent at the waist and instead pressing her hip against the edge of the table with her arms still folded. “Fresh bread is about to come out of the oven if whatever the hell Ryusui has been yelling about all day is true so you better grab some and take it to him before there’s none left.”

Fresh bread has become less of a luxury now that the Ishigami settlers and their chef have come along but it goes as quickly as it can be made. Considering for a minute that he may miss out if he’s too busy, you sigh and stretch your arms over your head while rising from the wooden stool you were sitting on. The shit eating grin of your friend makes you roll your eyes and you playfully bump shoulders with her when you pass by, headed toward the galley.

Perhaps you like Tsukasa more than you originally assumed you would. He’s handsome, of course, but anyone with eyes can see that and you assumed at first that he was no more than met your eye. Until you met his sister, his gentle doting over her coming off as nothing less than altruistic and loving. Until he started looking at you with affection you’d only dreamed of from across the camp, something so gentle in his eyes you believed you imagined it but it kept happening.

This is not a time to think about feelings, you remind yourself. The world is developing and whether you and your fellow settlers wanted it or not, you are its architects with science and medicine and lust for a life similar to how it once was.

A crowd has already formed around the galley and you groan, considering walking away empty handed rather than dealing with the thick of people. You know everyone, it’s the nature of things given there are less than 75 people in the settlement total, but it feels humiliating to be waiting here for bread that isn’t even for you. It’s for a man you find yourself endlessly intrigued by, someone you desperately want to get to know.

“Hey!”

You are caught before your thoughts can spiral too far and the local navigator and mapmaker waves at you, her hair a fresh pink from the dye Senku developed at her request, and she holds out a couple of medium sized rolls wrapped in a cloth to you. Steam wafts off of them and even your mouth waters a bit in anticipation of biting into it.

“You two set me up,” you shoot toward the woman who shrugs. They did indeed set you up, planning to create a situation where you’d have no choice but to go to the object of your affections, but it’s hard to be mad when it’s well meaning.

“Tell your little friend I said to mind her business.”

The navigator snorts and waves you off toward the stables in the distance with a fond smile.

“Love you too!”

You don’t respond with anything but a barely audible grunt but you don’t have to, knowing that the bond between you, the navigator, and the farmer is as unbreakable as anything has ever been. The three of you have built this small community from the ground up with the assistance from everyone here. There have been arguments, of course, but ultimately the purpose has remained the same for everyone and that is making sure that every person has a great quality of life in tumultuous times.

Walking across the slowly yellowing grass on your way to the stables, you look around in awe at how autumn has arrived practically right before your eyes. The leaves blaze in shades of red and orange, the sun hangs low in the sky and warms away whatever chilly breeze may otherwise make you uncomfortable, and before you know it your legs have carried you down a path you’re familiar with and you find yourself faced with the man you try so hard to avoid.

He’s inescapable, you’ve now realized, and the thought makes you want to bolt but you hold your head up and smile at him.

“Hi there,” he offers kindly. That faint dusting of pink colors his cheeks and you find it hard to look away, wishing your traitorous fingertips didn’t want to reach out and feel the warmth beneath them. He looks to you like someone who runs warm blooded, a passionate man with a fire inside of him that burns inside out.

“Hi.” You finally respond in like, holding up the cloth wrapped bread slightly awkwardly. “Fresh out of the oven, I wanted to make sure you got some.”

You’ve never really done anything like this before and courting has become even more necessary and uncomfortable in a world where marriages and love can easily be bargaining tools to make a more comfortable life for everyone. You know all too well about Senku’s advantageous marriage and divorce, something the farmer has lamented on more than one occasion given her budding affection for the scientist, but you do not want him to see you as an advantage or a stepping stone because that is not how you see him.

You see him for the man he is. Warmth that runs deep enough you swear you can see a little fire in his irises isn’t something that should only be chosen for advantage, it should be stoked and adored.

“Thank you, I appreciate it.”

His words are a little awkward as well. All of this, love and affection, are just as new to him as they are to you and he hopes that you don’t think he is rude or cold or mean or anything he has been accused of being in the past based off of the assessments of those who don’t know him.

“It’s the least I can do considering you’re making sure our horses have a warm winter, too.”

You smile and he feels his face burn rather than just heat, the pink deepening into something closer to red. Any praise he receives from you sticks in his mind for days afterward and it makes him embrace the moments, considering you wouldn’t even say his name for the first several weeks they were here. It didn’t stop his feelings from developing further and further every day, though, and now they weigh heavily on his mind when he sees you.

Could you ever love him? Would you ever want to? It keeps him up at night if he lets it.

“I’m glad to be able to do it. They deserve somewhere nice and warm, too.” You lift the bread in his direction and present him with one of the still steaming rolls and his eyes widen, a genuine smile breaking across his features. “Speaking of warm…it’s still hot and everything.”

Giggling at his amazement, you nod. There’s something so indescribably boyish about him beneath the masculinity of his exterior and you see it most when he smiles. You haven’t learned much about the man from his own mouth, instead from his sister Mirai and Gen who is always eager to talk about anyone, but you know that he hasn’t always had much to smile about. His life has been marked by a lot of worry and strife and even the mentalist himself remarked that he seemed lighter since arriving in America a few days back, the fresh air and chance to continue to help reinvigorating him.

“I didn’t want you to miss out.”

For a moment, you consider if you should walk away. Maybe he wants to be left alone so he can go right back to work, the sun setting earlier every day leading into the cold season leaves little time to get work done during daylight hours but he nods toward a makeshift bench that is just a plank propped up on two stumps.

“Do you have time to stay for a while?”

Again, the terrible urge to bolt comes over you. Looking around camp you judge how much of a scene it would make to flee, rushing toward the medical barn with your head down. It would almost certainly cause more of a scene than just sitting beside him considering nobody is looking in the direction of the two of you, granting you more privacy than you expected.

��Sure,” you answer, smiling hopefully and keeping your head slightly downturned to conceal it at least a little. You don’t get your hopes up, after all. “I have to make medicine but that can wait until later.”

Tsukasa hums, clearly interested in what you have to say about these medications, and leads you toward the bench. The clearing is dappled with sunlight coming through the grove of trees above you and it feels like something out of a movie you watched once, something involving a lonely man searching for something to anchor him to the world besides persistent pain. He found love in a clearing just like this, sunshine warming his face and presenting him with the fact that life might not be as bad as it has always seemed.

“Oh yeah? What are you making this time?”

He sits and you follow suit, sliding beside him but keeping a respectable distance. You unwrap your bread and cross your knees, leaning forward slightly. His eyes are on you again but you choose to occupy yourself with the warm food in your hands instead, tearing off a small piece to cool down.

“Well, I was given some yarrow which is good for inflammation and some ginger which is good for stomach aches and now I have to figure out how to process them both and still make them as effective as possible which is a challenge sometimes.”

Tsukasa has never considered himself stupid but he knows he can’t keep up with this line of conversation due to lack of experience so he nods, tearing off a piece of bread himself and shoving it into his mouth. While chewing he internally reviews each of his motions - do you think he’s rude? Impolite? Brutish? Is he eating too loudly? Is he too much?

All he worries about is how you view him and yet it remains a mystery. He wants to believe the returned glances are your way of repeating his affection back to him but cautiousness keeps him from mindlessly dreaming. What if he’s misreading?

You glance at Tsukasa out of the corner of your eye and realize that you may not be the only overthinker sitting on this bench, his eyes clouding slightly while he gets lost in his own mind. It’s hard to say what he’s thinking about without being there but you clear your throat after chewing your first bite and he turns his attention back to you as quickly as he can.

“I’m sure Senku can find a way to help if I need it, though. He’s good about that.”

Nodding, he agrees with your assessment of his good friend. Senku is a good man and a gifted leader despite his sometimes lax attitude and there have been many situations he has already helped resolve around the camp since arriving. A less evolved and kind part of him is frustrated that he does not have the same skills to best help you but he will always offer what he does have which is time and a tender heart full of longing.

“I could help if you need it,” he offers and you smile, giggling to yourself. You don’t bother to hide this one and he revels in the sight of your pretty lips and teeth, something just for him. You are beautiful and often smile but never this effortlessly. “I’m serious. I have hands and can tear some flowers off of their stems.”

Looking down at his hands while you chew another bite of your bread, you raise your brows and swallow. Without thinking, you let your thoughts take on a mind of their own and your voice follows suit.

“I’m sure you could tear a lot more than flowers from stems with those hands.”

He can’t be certain but he believes you may very well be flirting with him. Raising his brows in return, he chuckles. The surprise in his laughter cannot be hidden and immediately you wish you would have bolted back to the barn and given everyone a story to tell at dinner tonight.

“Maybe a long time ago but now I only want to use them for healing or…” he trails off a moment and you look up at him through your lashes, your own face warm with embarrassment from your slip of the tongue. “Loving, maybe.”

The way the word comes off of his tongue tells you that there’s nothing short of a lover beneath the exterior. Loving, you think. Maybe he could love me.

Chewing another bite, you let the weight of both of your words settle. Perhaps your friends were right to set you up on a perfect autumn day, the breeze rusting his dark hair around his shoulders and making him resemble the man who fell in love in a light dappled clearing even more. Your heart pounds in your chest and you try to play it off, shrugging flippantly.

“We’ll just have to see, won’t we?”

Your question isn’t a question as much as it is a statement but it’s exactly what Tsukasa needed to hear and he nods in agreement. This is the smallest shred of hope you like him that he’s dared to tuck into his mind yet but he does it. This hope will carry him through the chilly evening while he’s in his bed, wondering if you could ever love him or not.

She will. He thinks to himself in the daylight, bold enough to think about you while you’re sitting next to him. I’ll make sure I’m worthy of it.

He wasn’t too concerned with what everybody was doing, but your behavior doesn’t go unnoticed.

He watched as you picked through almost thousands of drago and only spent a few, and it almost seemed like you were scared to.

Ryusui had practically thrown drago at you because you were nearby and he complimented you and gave you plenty of money, so why were you spending SO cautiously like you were down to nickels and dimes? (I know nothing about Yen so I don’t know if there is an expression equivalent in Japanese)

You have nothing to really save the money for, so why were you debating so hard over spending it on a shirt. You wanted the shirt, didn’t you?

Eventually, he’d found out from somebody that knew you that your family was poor. He had thought something like that must have been the case, but now he knows for sure.

He’d likely encourage you to spend a bit more. Either that, or he’d bluntly tell you there is no reason to keep the money so close to you anymore.

Gen Asagiri

If he had that much money, he’d be blowing it.

You had thousands of drago that Ryusui had just handed you. And you were clutching onto it like you’d be robbed of it and be left for dead without it if you loosen up just a little.

You hesitated to get cotton candy, despite how much you said you missed the taste.

He watched you and soon noticed your behavior was like those who were less fortunate to have to ration to survive.

You didn’t need to do that here, the money isn’t that important. At the end of the day, the hunters in the kingdom of science would bring home food rather people paid them for the meat or not.

The community doesn’t run off of money, so your behavior is unnecessary. So he’d probably talk you out of it.

He’d come stand beside you, talking to you softly.

“Money isn’t that important here. You don’t need it to pay for a house. And the beasts of people we have here do the hunting for us, and never once have they asked for money. Nor would they deny you food if you couldn’t pay. You can save some… but maybe spend half? Plus…” he leans in to whisper, “Ryusui would gladly pay for you if it ever came to it. I’m sure a man like him will never run out of money.”

Dragos have been around for a while, but you’re still clutching onto them like it’s life or death.

Francois doesn’t make you pay them for food. The hunters (him, Hyoga, etc) don’t make you pay them for meat or anything.

So your behavior has got to be engraved into you.

He might be on the side of kingdom of science, but deep down, this rise of currency and capitalism bothers him.

watching you struggle to let go of money makes him angry.

The world they used to live in had brought you to this point, and that pisses him off.

He knows what that’s like. He fought for money. He became famous for money. All for money for Mirai. Just so his sister would live.

He had to pay people to keep his sister alive.

And old men paid for the rights to land and he had no grounds to even do anything about getting beat down by one for picking seashells. That man OWNED those seashells.

He doesn’t say much, but he makes sure to give you plenty of food and he’ll buy things for you and give them to you.

Well, once he had a smaller allowance, but even that would be a lot to most other people. He doesn’t realize this so much, not until he sees you.

He’s confused at first.

But you try to deny it.

He insists. Then he watches you clutch onto it like you’ll need it all in an hour.

Tsukasa stands close to you, pensive as always, thinking before he adds his own commentary, ever so careful with his words. There's a small smile on his face, and you read that as awe and amusement at Senku's relentless pursuit of scientific advancement; something he had once tried to suppress, he's come to appreciate, and while you'd normally be pleased with how far he's come in that respect, in this very moment it feels like a betrayal. 

A time machine would change everything.

Truly everything, and the selfish part of you scorns it. 

Tsukasa finds your hand besides him, still mulling over the details as Senku explains his roadmap to the group, and squeezes it gently without looking. Your corsage of pink flowers brushes against the sleeve of his suit, and you watch a few petals fall. Suddenly you are far too overwhelmed, and would much rather run of the room, but when you see hope warm Tsukasa's brown eyes, you hold in your unease as best you can. 

"Senku really is amazing, isn't he?" you say through a smile that should come easier than it does. Tsukasa hasn't turned to return your smile yet, still watching the machine, eyes wide. 

"He really is."

That evening, Tsukasa in his contrarily roundabout but very direct way of speaking, reaffirms his intention to marry you someday. In a small way, you might as well be married - you're inseparable, you live together with Mirai who calls you big sister and means it every single time, and he makes you feel his love every time he holds you in the dark, and presses deep into you, relishing in the sound of his name as it falls off his lips.

Something big if you want it. Something small will also suffice. Something that makes everything even more real, he says to you, pressing his face into the crook of your neck. Pillow talk should make you feel warm, warm as the liquid seeping between your legs. Warm as his arms. Warm as the sensation of his tongue in your mouth, on your skin. 

"Tsukasa," you finally speak up in the dark.

He pulls you closer, and you pause before the words bubble up inside you and force their way out -

"I don't want to lose you."

A lamp flickers on and Tsukasa takes in your tear-stained face with as much alarm allotted for someone so naturally stoic. His palm takes your cheek and rubs it gently, the other arm pulling you in closer to press against him. Your face buries into his chest, and there you let yourself really cry.

He lets you tremble in his embrace for a few more moments, pressing soft kisses to the top of your head. He has no idea what you're talking about, because how can he when you've remained in your head all day?

Once your sniffles have slowed, he pulls back so that he can look at you in the eyes again, making sure you're still within an arm's reach.

"How can you lose me when I've never left?" he asks. 

You swallow, and then decide if you must sound awful, now is the time.

"Without de-petrification, there's no way we would have met."

Tsukasa tenses for a moment, which makes your heart sink, but then he pulls you closer, then on top of him. Sliding upwards so that his back is propped up by the headboard, he strokes your forehead. He mulls the thought over for a moment, and you look up into his beautiful face, your heart pounding in anticipation. 

"I'd find you," he says, confidently, and you're stunned practically silent. Simple as that.

You blink for a moment, surprised by his answer, then find your face growing hot.

"What do you mean, 'you'd find me'? We lived on the opposite sides of the world? You would have been famous and I just... some girl with some normal job, and-"

He kisses you again to interrupt you, then presses his forehead to yours.

"Trust me. I'd find you."

You can feel your breath halt and he smiles.

"You don't believe me, do you?" he says. His gaze is soft, and he grins wider, confident, flipping you over so that he's over top of you. You can feel your face growing hot again but for a different reason now. Sucking in a breath, you wrinkle your nose.

"Were you gonna pluck me from my grad school classroom?" you ask him.

"If I must," he says. He kisses your neck, then parts your legs to wrap them around his waist. Your eyelashes flutter.

"Unrealistic," you reply. 

"I'd find you," he says again. His fingers intertwine with yours as he rubs against your center. You sigh, but he's taken all of the worry out of you and replaced it with playful jest. He's so good at this, the way he validates your fears, but doesn't allow you to feel afraid because he lacks that fear, and is always strong enough, good enough, brave enough to protect you. Even from yourself.

This time he actually laughs, falling back on his heels.

"Yes," he answers. "Whatever it takes."
