Go change your state’s legislators! Vote and get them out of office! Trump isn’t changing so go change something you have more control over!
Women need proper medical care!
I want to point out that all overturning Roe v Wade did- change abortion from a federal right to a state right. That it. That’s all it did. Abortions we’re not banned the moment is was overturned. Fight me all you want. Go take a government class. (Trump is still fucked for doing it but that’s the Republican Party. States over feds)
So because it’s now a state issue- GO VOTE! Kick those nasty old white men out of your state’s office. They are the ones making abortion illegal. (Not that Trump didn’t fuck it up in the first place and is just sitting back letting it happen) It’s so much easier to change a smaller state government body than a large federal one. So go do that! Don’t just vote in the big presidential election. This has shed light on how fucked up some states governments are. How corrupt they are. Now it’s time to change it! We wouldn’t be fearing for our lives if we trusted those in office. That means all the way down the ladder to the lowest official. So VOTE.
Again, not saying Trump can’t go get fucked. But I’ve shifted my blame to something I can control more to help mange my emotions. (Hello therapy)
Not trying to start anything here just pointing out that until we have a new federal law that protects women’s abortion rights, we need to go fight for it at the state level now!
(Also, don’t start fighting me on other issues/Trump issues. I’m only talking about abortion rights)
Okay… getting off my box now..

Journalistic Censorship Intensifies on Social Media: A Look at Ken Klippenstein’s Suspension on X
Why X (formerly Twitter) suspended investigative journalist Ken Klippenstein and what it reveals about political censorship in the lead-up to the 2024 US elections As a retired scientist and public health professional, I have personally experienced the consequences of censorship impacting lives of innocent people, which gives me a profound understanding of the struggles authentic journalists…

Palestine and the US election
I’m done with Twitter soundbite takes that voting blue = supporting genocide. I see a lot of people making an argument that goes like this: "Biden has sent arms to Israel, helping its government commit genocide against Palestine. Therefore, voting for him in the 2024 US election, if he is the Democratic nominee, is supporting genocide, and NOT voting for him helps Palestine." There's a lot wrong with this view, so let's break it down.
It's true that Biden has sent a lot of arms to Israel and bypassed Congress multiple times to do it, and it's indefensible. I'm ashamed that any US politician would help Israel wage its brutal, genocidal war against the Palestinian people. As one of Israel's closest partners, the US could actually be using its leverage right now to put pressure on Israel’s government—I’m thinking about how apartheid in South Africa fell, in part, because of international pressure. That's what should be happening, but instead the US government is literally just helping Israel kill Palestinians.
I wish there were a strong pro-Palestine candidate in the upcoming election. The best bet in that regard would probably be Bernie Sanders, since he's prominent enough, well-liked enough, and has good ideas, not just on this issue but on many things (and yeah, he's way too old, but so are the current frontrunners). But he's already ruled out another run. Unless an amazing candidate materializes and wins the Democratic nomination (please vote in the primaries where you live), it will probably be Biden running against Trump. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s likely.
Here's what people need to understand: the election will not be "genocide Joe" vs. "pro-Palestine candidate." It will most likely be a choice between these two candidates:
On the one hand, Biden, who has armed Israel, but can be pressured to change his policies because he can be pushed left; who is not a wannabe dictator; who will not destroy what's left of the country's democratic norms; who will not encourage coups, political assassinations, or jail his political opponents; who will not utterly stifle dissent.
Or on the other hand, Trump, who is beholden to a fanatical evangelical base that backs Israel no matter what, that actually wants more conflict because they are part of a death cult. Trump, who is not susceptible in any way to pressure from the left, but is susceptible to pressure from the right and the far right. Trump, who has been clear all along about his desire to be a dictator; who will destroy what's left of democratic norms; who has already encouraged a coup to overthrow a democratic election, encouraged the assassination of his own vice president, and is openly planning to jail his political opponents if he returns to the White House.
(This isn't even touching on Trump's positions on trans rights, gay rights, women's rights, the environment, policing, immigration, or his racism against every group he could be racist against, or his liability for sexual assault, or a whole bunch of other issues).
There's a very convincing argument that Netanyahu actually wants Biden to lose the US election and Trump to win. That's because Netanyahu knows that Biden has in the past responded to pressure from his own party and the public. If there are a lot of people criticizing his policies, it gives him pause. Trump doesn't operate like that. If millions of Americans criticize his policies as inhumane he just lashes out at them. In short, Biden views criticism from the left as a liability that he has to act on. Trump views criticism from the left as an incentive to be even worse.
Biden is not the candidate I want. But you need to understand that if Trump wins the election, he won't just arm Israel like Biden is doing now: he will do that and more. Not only will he help Israel escalate its war, your very freedom of speech to support Palestine will be under attack. Trump might even decide that financial support for Palestinians or charities that help Palestine = financially supporting terrorism, and use that as a pretext to arrest and jail people. You think he and his far right goons wouldn't go that far? If Trump wins this election, you shouldn't be surprised if this kind of thing happens, and much worse.
Do you want the US to accept Palestinian refugees? Because it won't accept them under a Trump presidency. A key Republican talking point in this election is "the US shouldn't take Palestinian refugees because they're probably all terrorists." This isn't just a Trump thing, it's something other Republicans are saying, but obviously you can imagine where Trump would fall on this issue given his infamous Muslim ban and conflating refugees with terrorists. These are just a few examples of how Trump would actually be even worse for Palestine than Biden—which is saying something.
In this upcoming election there is no neutral option. There is no morally pure option. There just isn't, I'm sorry. Refusing to vote will not help Palestine. Refusing to vote will only help Trump win, and will give every single person in the United States who is fighting for a better world a significantly harder battle to fight.
It goes without saying that there are things everyone should do to help Palestine besides voting in an election. But I'm writing this post that is about voting because I'm genuinely worried by how many so-called leftists want to give up their right to vote—a right that older generations had to fight tooth and nail for—because they think it won't achieve anything. If voting didn't achieve anything, Republicans wouldn't be trying so hard to suppress your vote.
I'll conclude by saying that nuance is not this site's specialty, but please try to understand what I'm actually saying here before attacking me in the notes. Finally, people being antisemitic or islamophobic on this post will be blocked. People denying that Israel is committing genocide against Palestine will be blocked. Trump supporters, tankies, and people who say that Biden and Trump are the same will be blocked. So will people who say "voting is pointless" or "but Biden did this bad thing—" Biden fucking sucks, I know that very well, so if you're going to try to make that argument to me then stop right now and read the post again.

Re: Couch fucking
Since people saw “JD Vance fucked a couch” mentioned in the “Tampon Tim: He’ll stop the red wave” post and went “What? JD Vance fucked a couch?,” no, he did not fuck a couch in his youth. The rumor was started by a random shitpost on the service I will continue to call Twitter until the heat death of the universe:
(Archived by Snopes, now view-limited by the author)
@rickrudescalves
can't say for sure but he might be the first vp pick to have admitted in a ny times bestseller to fucking an inside-out latex glove shoved between two couch cushions (vance, hillbilly elegy, pp. 179-181)
7:58 PM • Jul 15, 2024 • 1.8M Views
No draft or edition of Vance’s book Hillbilly Elegy ever said any such thing, but the inclusion of page numbers made “JD Vance fucked a couch” look very truthy (file this away as a tactic to look for in other propaganda you see). Neither Vance nor the Trump campaign can fully deny this because that would only draw more attention to the concept of “Vice presidential candidate JD Vance fucked a couch.” In great frustration, a campaign spokesman has finally said,
"We're not going to talk about couches or coconuts or whatever weird fetish KamalaHQ is into. When we have something to say, we'll say loud and clear. If Kamala is a coward, we'll call her a coward. If Tim Walz is a liar, we'll call him a liar.”
JD Vance then proceeded to lie about Tim Walz’s 24-year military record, calling it “stolen valor.”
As much as people enjoyed Walz’s quip that he would love to debate Vance if Vance would be “willing to get off the couch,” I do agree that Democrats should not stoop to such Republican tactics as (off the top of my head)
Telling lies about presidential candidate John Kerry’s military service (which inspired the general term “swiftboating” “to describe an unfair or untrue political attack”)
Claiming that then-presidential candidate Barack Obama was born in Kenya and not an American citizen, which would disqualify him, leading to an entire “birther” movement headed by Donald Trump
Accusing Democrats of trafficking children in the basement of a pizza parlor that had no basement, leading one man who sincerely believed this to “[travel] to Comet Ping Pong to investigate the conspiracy and [fire] a rifle inside the restaurant to break the lock on a door to a storage room during his search”
Claiming that North American schools keep kitty litter on hand for students who “identify as cats,” a “joke” meant to target protections for transgender students
And, as mentioned, splitting hairs over exactly what rank Tim Walz had vs what he retired at, elevating this to a far more serious accusation of stolen valor. In fairness, this is probably revenge for the couch thing.
So yes, I agree, we shouldn’t use the same tactics that the Republicans have been using for decades. It’s tasteless and it does not make us look better. I would perhaps remind you of the saying “Live by the sword, die by the sword,” but yes, we should stop confusing people into thinking that JD Vance fucked a couch. No couch was ever fucked by JD Vance. I endorse this message.
#again: I value accurate criticism#is this post snarky and disingenuous? deservedly and I own that#us politics#jd vance did not fuck a couch#long post

How Harris/The Dems should deal with "the border crisis" (nonexistant):
Quietly, do all of the actually good things an even slightly moral government would do. Restart the remain in place policy, let asylum seekers back in, do as much as possible to reduce the horrid idiotic inefficient aspects of the current visa system, etc
Every time anyone is extradited from the US for any reason, call it a deportation. "We're deporting this criminal out of the country." Every time you do this, make a clear distinction between the Innocent Families just trying to fulfill the American Dream, and the Bad Guys, who do bad things to those Innocent Families. Repeat that a lot, Americans love the deserving poor vs. the undeserving poor; the mistake Dems have made for the last 30 years is thinking you need to cut off a large number of people as "undeserving". In reality, you describe all the people you're helping as "deserving" and all the people you arrest as "undeserving". Bad Guys hurt Innocent Families, where Innocent Families encompasses both most migrants and you, the viewer at home.
Make giant immigration bill. Fill it mostly with whatever, maybe reform immigration if you can swing it, but it doesn't matter. Inside, in two small parts, will be: a) some minor provision that expands executive power at the border in some fashion. This doesn't need to actually do anything, probably shouldn't so the next president can't abuse it, maybe it affects some minutia about hiring and firing or what sort of arrests get sentenced first. But it can be spun as "giving the president the power to secure the border". and b) some culture war bullshit that the dumber Rs can flip out about. Make it as asinine as possible. Have a few interns spend a week on Twitter and Gab until they find whatever brain worms are popular on the Dumb Right and put it in. When they go on TV to complain about it, it should look to most viewers like they're insane. When the bill inevitably fails, have some guy go on TV and say the Republicans crushed it and made the border worse because they're obsessed with culture war nonsense. Harris really wanted to use that new thing to secure it! Whenever anything bad happens even tangentially related to the border or immigration, go on TV and say it's because we didn't pass that awesome bill, because the republicans cared more about some culture war bullshit. (If it passes, celebrate whatever you wanted in the bill passing and then say Rs watered down the border thing)
Every so often, when someone somewhere does a real bad violent crime and is an undocumented migrant and gets deported, make a big media circus out of it and tout it as a win. Make sure every new channel is connecting the idea, in viewers' brains, that this is the party that is deporting "the bad guys"
Find someone really sympathetic who was deported under the Trump and bring them back. You should do this anyways because it's the right thing to do, but in this specific case you want to find a religious light-skinned pretty young woman with decent English, who can go in front of the cameras and cry about how much she loves Jesus and America and her family, and how happy she is to be back.
Find an undocumented migrant who came in/overstayed their visa during the Trump who is an undocumented migrant who did a real bad violent crime who came in during the Trump administration. Imply this is the fault of him and his cronies' policies. The general slant you want here is that Republicans etc. cannot tell the difference between the Scary Bad Guys and the Innocent Families. This could be because they are incompetent or racist; describe in terms vague enough the viewer can interpret it themselves. Either way, Republicans cannot protect you because they cannot tell a Bad Guy from a Christian. When they start talking about all the border crossing, imply they think every one of those people is a Bad Guy and not an Innocent Family, because they are (incompetant/stupid/racist/unAmerican) You'll notice all of these things include "Go on TV and talk about it", which should be considered to be repeated three times every time it shows up. If there is one lesson to have learned over the last 15 years, it's that repeating something to the press often enough will change the message, whatever it is. Just keep saying it. Every time there's a win, go on TV and talk about how great it is. if you're having trouble getting your message out, put the pill in a piece of cheese: Have it leak to the press, who will lap it up because they lovvvvvvvve the idea that they're getting Cool Secret Scoops. Frame it as a horserace thing when Rs try and push back, and make it entertaining to have your guy on there talking down to whatever R they brought on for balance. Above all: be entertaining; News media might view themselves as being Guardians of Truth but they're in the business of selling ads and want eyeballs. Flatter the first illusion and feed the second, and they will give you endless free airtime.

Genuinely thinking about deleting all my sim accounts on twitter lol
Like no shade to sims 4 players but there's no diversity of other sim franchises on there, and all they do is argue about why you should or should not deep throat EA and scream about alpha vs maxis match or patreon.
And Sims RP is basically dead. Ppl just post a pic of their rich sim on vacation and leave for 3 months.
I already moved my personal account to BlueSky. I might try to do a general sims account on there. Because with the way the world is going and the rumors of non-negotiable AI and Elon wanting to merge with Trump's Truth Social, it's just not even worth it anymore.
Like big time news outlets and celebs are announcing their departures from there too 🙃
But if anyone would be down for trying to start a Sims 3 BlueSky community, I would absolutely be down.

I saw this post on Twitter and it got me thinking, so sorry for this long ass post but it's the most concise way I can get my point across
Here's the thing conservatives need to understand about WHY we hate people who voted for Trump this election so much just on a moral level, just hear me out here.
There are 2 kinds of people who voted for Trump. Those who voted for him in 2016, and those who voted for him in 2024.
The people who voted for him in 2016 are not all bad people, in fact, most of the people who voted for him were likely just easily fooled into thinking Trump would fix things he never ended up fixing. They were statistically just people who were tricked into voting for a man who used fearmongering about immigrants as his #1 tactic. They fell for the fearmongering and paid the price for it. But, there are a large number of people who voted for Trump in 2016 who voted for Biden in 2020 and Kamala in 2024 because they felt regret over seeing what the person they voted for had done to the country.
The reason why the left despises people who voted for Trump in the last election is that they are the leftover pulp of the past 8 years in the worst possible ways. The 2016 presidency caused a lot of Republicans to rethink their choices of candidate after seeing Trump's mask start to slip and his hatred started to rear its head, and those who didn't definitely started to rethink it once their fellow Republicans stormed the US capital and they didn't want to be associated with them. The Republicans that were left after 2 elections are the people who saw him without the mask he had on in 2016, who saw his violent behavior, who saw him allowing nazis to be at his rallies, who knew he was a rapist, who knew he staged a coup, who knew he encouraged burning voter boxes, who knew he objectively and provably cheated this election, who knew about the 900-page plan to turn the US into a dictatorship and still chose to vote him.
The media isn't "dividing families", you are. You made the conscious decision to continue to vote for him even after watching his sanity decline, even after watching the mask slip and eventually fall off entirely, even after the rape and the court trials, you made the decision to support him and you now have to deal with the consequences of your actions.
Republican VS Democrat is no longer about who has different rules on taxes or immigration laws, this isn't a "we can disagree and still be friends" debate anymore, the modern Republican party is rooted in racism, sexism, bigotry and hatred, and if you voted for that you voted for those qualities and that is why families are falling apart.

[art: Allan McDonalds l quote: George Orwell "Animal Farm"]
Corruption vs. Democracy 2024
"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." +
The aftermath.
December 23, 2024
Robert B. Hubbell
The news cycle over the last 48 hours was driven by Trump's effort to deal with the aftermath of his defeat on Friday. Not only did he fail to secure debt limit relief, 176 Republicans defied his threats of primary challenges to vote in favor of a bill opposed by Trump. Worse, Speaker-in-Name-Only (SPINO) Mike Johnson spoke to the press after the continuing resolution was passed and described his conversations with Elon Musk about the bill—not Donald Trump.
The central (but unsuccessful) role played by Elon Musk in the effort to force a government shutdown overshadowed Trump's status as president-elect—much to Trump's displeasure. Trump's spokesperson issued a statement last week saying, “President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party. Full stop.”
Then, in remarks on Sunday before a conservative conference, Trump said,
No, [Musk] is not gonna be president, that I can tell you. And I’m safe, you know why? He can’t be, he wasn’t born in this country.
Trump's statement oozes insecurity. Trump is so worried about Musk that he is comforting himself by referring to the constitutional prohibition against foreign-born citizens becoming president. Trump has thought through the defenses to an incipient Musk presidency.
Jen Psaki noted on Sunday that Trump's need to remind people that he is the head of the Republican Party is a bad sign. See Raw Story, 'Not exactly a statement you want to have to make': Jen Psaki points to Trump problem.
Per Psaki, Musk took to his vanity social media platform to claim that it was the media that was trying to drive a wedge between the two man-child egos.
To be clear, it is not the media that is trying to drive a wedge between Musk and Trump—it is members of the Republican and Democratic parties who are doing so.
On a Sunday talk-show, GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales said,
It's kind of interesting, we have a president, we have a vice president, we have a speaker. It feels like Elon Musk is our prime minister.
While some Republicans may view “Prime Minister Musk” as a positive development, Democrats are taunting Trump over Musk’s status. See Real Clear Politics, CNN Panel: Democrats Mock Trump, Joke About "President Musk" On Social Media.
Does any of this matter? And, if so, will it help Democrats?
I think the answers are “Yes,” and “Yes”—over time.
As Musk insinuates himself into the negative agenda of the Trump administration, he will become a soft target for the blame associated with the heartless, greedy, mean-spirited cuts that will be recommended by Musk and Ramaswamy.
Musk is already being blamed for removing two provisions from the bi-partisan continuing resolution negotiated between House Democrats and Republicans. Those provisions relate to (a) restrictions on investments in China and (b) compensation for victims of “deep-fake” pornography on social media sites, like Twitter. The elimination of both of those provisions will make conducting business easier for Musk and his companies.
While Musk probably did not base his opposition to the original CR on the two grounds noted above, his businesses will benefit from the absence of those restrictions, nonetheless. And it is difficult to think of two more opprobrious victories to inure to Musk’s benefit from the continuing resolution debacle.
Media commentators are portraying last week’s drama as a grand plan by Musk to allow Tesla to make unlimited investments in China and Twitter to avoid liability for deep-fake porn on its platform. See, e.g., NBC, House Democrats say GOP caved to Musk in funding bill, protecting his China interests, and NYTimes, The spending deal Musk helped kill included an X-backed bill to help victims of deepfake porn.
It does not matter why Musk opposed the bipartisan continuing resolution. The fact that his opposition makes it easier for Tesla to invest in China and Twitter to avoid liability to victims of deepfake porn are the only two talking points that matter.
And Democrats are making the most of those talking points—as they should. Weakening Musk weakens Trump which weakens the Project 2025 agenda.
Because he has not been elected, Musk is pathologically insensitive to the political blowback from his actions—which means he will continue to promote unpopular initiatives regardless of the political cost. That will hurt Trump and the GOP.
The American public is rightfully skeptical of Musk. See MSNBC, Maddow Blog | Poll: Much of the public disapproves of Elon Musk’s role on Trump’s team.
And, in a hellish feedback loop, Trump will be driven to ever greater heights of outrageousness to draw the spotlight away from Musk and back to Trump.
We may have seen a smidgen of that feedback loop this weekend—when Trump suggested that the US would seize the Panama Canal. See The Intelligencer, Trump Is Threatening to Invade Panama, Take Back Canal.
Trump's initial ridiculous post drew a reprimand from Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino who noted that every inch of Panama is part of a sovereign nation.
Trump then upped his lunacy by posting a photo of the Panama Canal under a US flag with the caption, “Welcome to the US Canal.”
It is difficult to describe the idiocy of Trump's proposal to invade Panama in order to take back control of the canal. The most rational explanation for Trump's ridiculous suggestion is that he is pulling a PR stunt to draw attention away from the fact that he is losing control of the GOP to Musk.
It is tricky to ascribe rational motivations to Trump's actions, so I acknowledge that I could be completely wrong. But we have seen similar behavior from Trump during his first term.
In short, if insecurity over Musk drives Trump to ever more ridiculous antics to regain the spotlight, that is a lose-lose proposition for Trump and a winning proposition for Democrats—if they are aggressive in their messaging.
If my view is correct, then the chaotic battle of egos that we are watching unfold in horror and disbelief contains the seeds of the GOP’s downfall.
But even when viewed through that lens of optimism, the path to victory will be dark, difficult, and painful. The good news is that we have been here before and prevailed. We can do so again.
In candor, our task today is more challenging than in 2017 because of the collapse of legacy media and the surrender of the billionaire class and business leaders. But we are also more organized and experienced than we were in 2017.
We are equal to the task, and we have no choice. Given those facts, there is little benefit to complaining and great advantage to acting.
Further reading.
As I glide into the holiday (family has arrived), I will briefly recommend additional articles to your attention.
Marc Elias in Democracy Docket, We Are on Our Own. As I mentioned before, Marc Elias is stepping up in a big way to become a leading voice in the opposition to Trump. This essay recognizes the cold reality of our present situation but is also affirming in identifying “us” as the solution. Read it or tuck it away for a moment when you need a boost.
The scandal at the US Supreme Court is worse than we thought—because the justices continue to withhold relevant information. I will circle back to this topic after the holidays. For now, see Senate Review Of Supreme Court Ethics Finds More Luxury Trips, Urges Code Of Conduct | HuffPost Latest News.
Something worrisome appears to be going on with Senator John Fetterman. He is meeting with Trump's nominees—which is admirable. But he seems to be transforming into an apologist (or worse, defender) for the inexcusable actions and statements of those nominees. Let’s hope that this does not foreshadow Joe Manchin 2.0. See The Hill, John Fetterman: Kash Patel said he wouldn't go after Trump's enemies.

"The shooter was a registered Republican"
Firstly, Pennsylvania is a closed primary state, meaning you have to register with a political party in order to vote in that party's primary. Independents and unaffiliated voters cannot vote in primaries in PA.
Secondly, the shooter's parents are registered Democrats and the shooter himself donated to ActBlue in 2021.
Most likely scenario is this kid was a center-leftist NeverTrumper registering as a Republican in order to vote against Trump in the PA primary.
