Guys, my 30s are officially over!

I know some of you are scared of turning 30 in the first place and society likes to make us think that life is pretty much over at that point, so here are my 10 favourite things about my 30s:

1. Met some wonderful people and made new friends

2. Got my Master's degree and finally left student life behind me

3. Found a stable and decent paying job I don't hate, with wonderful colleagues

4. Finally didn't have to worry about money anymore, paid off all my debts and can afford nice things for the first time in my life

5. Travelling!! In my 20s I had neither the money nor the confidence to travel anywhere, let alone travel across Italy on my own for 2 weeks. In my 30s I did lots of travelling (including many trips on my own) and it gave me so many good memories, broadened my horizon and helped me grow as a person.

6. I became more confident. Now there's still room for improvement and growth here, but compared to 10 years ago, I feel so much happier in my own skin and I can do things I wouldn't have believed I could do 10 years ago (like the travelling, but also things like speaking at a conference in front of hundreds of people).

7. My mental health got so much better. Again, there's still work to be done, but compared to my 20s I've felt much more stable, don't have panic attacks anymore, less anxiety about the future, know my issues better and can navigate them much better than before.

8. I started to actually feel like an adult (kind of). What I mean by that is that I feel less overwhelmed by normal life stuff, I feel like I (mostly) have my life under control and I don't feel like I'm just faking it anymore. And that, in turn, makes me feel calmer and more secure.

10. I've found new hobbies and interests, and revived old ones that I didn't have time for in my 20s. Like learning Italian, British theatre and writing. So, more things in my life that bring me joy ❤

I'm curious what my 40s will bring! 🥰

(sidenote I do squeak when singing, not sure if it's cuz I was never trained or because of singing in a lower register or trauma. But at points I will imitate with startling accuracy a dog squeaky toy.)

lmaoooo i've recently found i can't sing in a register that i was very comfortable in as my voice has dropped a bit on t! so i'm with you on the "squeaky toy" impression!

kyle listens to his own playlist. it's a mix of tiktok trending music, the "good bits" of whatever has played on captial fm or bbc radio 1 recently, some 90s/early 00s r&b, stormzy and surprisingly a little bit of tina turner. you've caught him doing full body rolls to genuwine's pony before.

simon listens to podcasts. it's not unusual for you to walk in on simon giggling (yes, giggling!) at "dead ringers" or "sorry i haven't a clue". music wise he's pretty happy to listen to whatever someone else puts on as long as it isn't completely deafening, he still needs to be able to think.

johnny listens to edm at high volume all the time. techno, hardstyle, uk drum and bass? all good. all loud. give that man a diiiiiiirty bass line (and everyone else some earplugs). you can tell which zone he's working in for the day because the floor will tremble a little bit.

price listens to smooth radio. no, he won't be changing it to something "less crap". if you've got an issue you can fuck off. love shack by the b-52s is a classic.

i love that there's just no generational gap with kids. i showed a couple kids i was babysitting my room n they looked at my crt tv and were like 'ooh you have a tiny tv!!' and they were so impressed lol. they didnt call it old they werent like 'why do you have such a small screen' they just saw something new to them and were like COOL!

as much as i loved tlou the show i think it had the fatal error of being too short

in the game we spend around 15 hours with joel and ellie and we're with them every moment. aside from listening to their dialogues while wandering around we struggle with them in the gameplay. we bond with them just as they bond with each other.

but in the show we get (much) less than 9 hours with them and our time together gets interrupted by other storylines of other characters. we don't get to bond with them so easily and deeply and we don't fet to actually know them that well even though we get more information about them.

this hit me when we were watching the last ep with mom and dad (they didn't see the game). when joel started being chatty they didn't understand why, because they didn't really get to familiarize with the core of his character and his motives.

if the show had, idk, 15 episodes or something this problem would be fixed easily AND they would get to show more of the lore they initially wanted to show AND they would get to add more plot (and even fillers maybe).
