Rumiko Takahashi's *publication in Weekly Shonen Sunday
*this is for her regular publications
Weekly Shonen Sunday is an anthology magazine that publishes a chapter from multiple manga series every week. Eventually individual series will compile their chapters and release them into volumes.
[The magazine issue number tries to equal the number of weeks in a year; "combined issues" precede break weeks but the issue is the same size as always; sometimes there's a 53rd week.]
The magazine recently completed another serialization year (it's a month ahead of the calendar year) and Rumiko "built different" Takahashi has as well.
"X" marks the spot of her professional debut, with the publication of the one-shot Katte na Yatsura (勝手なやつら "Those Selfish Aliens"). Then she started publishing Urusei Yatsura, which was apparently meant to be a short-run and was supposed to end with **chapter 20. Although the series became popular, Rumiko was still in college at the time so she could only update sporadically. Once she graduated though, it was non-stop for another 340+ chapters.
**Chapter order was rearranged when they were compiled into volumes, hence the weird numbering. I tried to make it more obvious when the numbering is off. Chapter 6 and 27 were published in Shonen Sunday Extra – a different magazine.
As you may know, long-running series can run into hiatuses. Authors that have worked for a long time wear down in body and mind. Rumiko though, is an outlier and should not be counted in the statistics and actually began publishing Maison Ikkoku in another magazine starting in 1980 while she was still working on Urusei Yatsura. She even threw out a few of the early chapters of Mermaid Saga during that time because fuck it.
And because she's evidently insane near-unstoppable she began publishing Ranma 1/2 (and One-Pound Gospel in a different magazine) in the same year after her two series ended. But as you can see, in late 1988 she entered a long hiatus. Why? appendicitis ☠
She got better though, and then published another 300+ chapters. Even updated Mermaid Saga every now and then. For anyone else, 15+ years of weekly publication should've been enough – these series were making fucking bank too, TV anime and theatrical movies and all that good shit.
But Rumiko is allergic to stopping, and before year's end she came in swinging with motherfucking Inuyasha for the next 550+ chapters – her longest series yet. The bank she made from this series must've been fantastic. Surely, after decades of making it rain money she would retir–
Oh. Oh she's in this for the love of the game. Because why else would she come back to publishing another series WEEKLY? She could update monthly - or whenever she wants/is able like Detective Conan or Hunter x Hunter - she surely has the clout for it.
But she felt like writing a comedy again and pumped out almost 400 chapters of Kyoukai no RINNE. And then she came back again and is currently publishing MAO because she binged Agatha Christie's novels and wants to write a mystery.
However you can also see that her gaps between series has grown longer, with a year and half between RINNE and MAO. Those two also have the most breaks (which is still shockingly low for someone her age and in the industry for as long as she has). She has stated that MAO is possibly her last weekly series.
Interviewer: You've been doing this for 45 years Takahashi-sensei, isn't it tough?
Rumiko: Drawing manga has become my daily habit, so it's not hard. It becomes a part of your life. Then there are the readers. People want to read my work, they request it, and it appears in a book, so I draw it properly. I have been doing this for many years as a matter of course, so drawing manga is not hard for me. In fact, if I'm not drawing manga, I'm bored.
As of October 2024, Rumiko Takahashi is 67 years old.

Sabrina Carpenter's Natal Promise (Predictive Astrology)
Here are a few hints from the universe about Sabrina's life as seen in her natal chart. Remember, this is just my analysis and is for entertainment purposes only.
2nd house in Taurus with planets: This is the first hint that Sabrina's going to ride the financial rollercoaster all her life. These placements suggest she might rake in a lot of money but also struggle to hang onto it. It’s a big sign that her financial situation is tightly linked to other parts of her life. When her bank account is flush, everything else is peachy. But when she hits financial bumps (and she will, according to her chart), other areas are going to get rocky too.
Mars in the 7th house: This configuration hints at some kind of showdown (Mars) between two sides (Libra). It could mean that Sabrina might have to sue her business partners or divorce her husband if she ever ties the knot. The best-case scenario is that she gets exactly what she wants, and the whole process is smooth and diplomatic.
2nd house ruler Venus in Cancer in the 4th house: Stuff happening in her personal life — especially with family or at home — is going to mess with her finances. Could be good, could be bad. Venus in Cancer craves safety and comfort, so Sabrina might end up buying or building her dream home, a cozy haven perfect for raising a family (if she chooses to). Her home will be filled with love. But that dream home won’t come cheap. If she’s not careful, it could seriously dent her finances. There's also the risk of a bad investment, especially if she just wants a secluded spot away from prying eyes and doesn’t do her homework.
6th house ruler Sun in Taurus in the 2nd house: Financial ups and downs will greatly influence her daily responsibilities. The 6th house is all about the thrilling tasks like paperwork and appointments — those fun things that keep life from falling apart. When her finances are thriving, she'll notice a lighter load and more manageable tasks. However, during financial rough patches, she’ll feel like she’s drowning in paperwork and daily chores, unable to delegate and stuck handling everything herself.
7th house ruler Mercury in Taurus in the 2nd house: Once more, money is the star of the show, this time affecting marriages or contracts. Love and cash are like peanut butter and jelly in her chart. She might end up with someone who’s all about the Benjamins or super strict with money (Virgo 7th house). If Sabrina’s not smart with her finances, it could stir up some serious drama and nagging (thanks again, Virgo).
11th house ruler Saturn in Taurus in the 2nd house: Her finances are closely linked to her social circle. When she has more money, she gains more friends. When the money's tight, friends start to vanish. With Capricorn in the 11th house, she attracts ambitious people who want to succeed. They tend to avoid those they see as not doing well in life.
5th house ruler Moon in Pisces in the 1st house: Sabrina was born to shine. We’re talking star quality here, or at least some kind of entertainer. Her creativity is tied to her very being. Every choice she makes either lights up a new hit or tanks with a terrible album.
10th house ruler Jupiter in Aries in the 1st house: Her career directly impacts how she carries herself, her self-esteem, her self-love, and even her looks. But Jupiter can make her fly too close to the sun and get burnt. This setup hints that she might lose herself trying to meet career expectations. But that’s the worst-case scenario. If she keeps her head on straight, she'll not only advance in her career but also become wiser and more confident.

Mars in 7th House the effect on your long-term relationships.
One of the most important houses in astrology is the 7th house. The 7th house is called the house of partnerships, public transactions, corporate partnerships, marriages, and personal relationships with others. It can bring a vibrant and perhaps difficult energy to this house, directing one's approach to relationships and disagreements. Gaining awareness of the effects of Mars in the 7th house is crucial for identifying interpersonal patterns, possible sources of conflict, and constructive methods to channel this energy.

maybe i just have too much faith in people, but i'm legitimately baffled anyone would expect fujimoto to write nayuta as makima 2.0. he's given no reason to have his writing doubted like that lmao.
#the signs are already there in how nayuta is distinct from makima#makima would not have a monthly fart tally chart with denji#nayuta is clearly different while still having Devil Brain (tm)#era.txt#chainsaw man spoilers ///
