Friends, strangers, I want to share with you something I long thought I’d hallucinated, but which today I have discovered was absolutely real.

In the 90s my mum went to a number of Star Trek conventions and would often come home with a fan made tshirt. I need you to understand that my mother, barely 5’ tall, a catholic who to this day goes to church every Sunday, who was never heard to utter a swear word until I was in my twenties, who taught Grade One for decades at the local primary school. This woman, pure and innocent, went to a Star Trek convention and not only saw this tshirt but PURCHASED IT and now it’s been rediscovered in the garage and I’ve never been happier in my life.

I asked her what she was thinking and she said that she thought it was funny but when she brought it home my dad was (aside from side splittingly amused) absolutely adamant that she couldn’t wear it out in public because SHE WANTED TO DO THAT!! Grade One teacher, church on Sunday mum wanted to wear this around town! Who IS this woman I thought I knew??

Anyway now I have this awesome tshirt and I sort of want to frame it.

Hi!! I have drawn the counter part to the busy thinking about Kirk T-shirt design!! Now, I know it’s a bit different from the Spock design, I tried to capture the same feel but then I realised how thin the line work was and I couldn’t have been bothered to retry, I did try to make it more matching though, be adding similar details as the Spock design. But I really like it :D now there are matching designs ^_^ there was talk about selling merch with these designs but as of currently I sadly can’t, the responsibility of owning a shop online and having to get all the supplies is a bit much, BUT!! I will make a Tutorial on how to make a t shirt with these designs!! It will be a little while until then but yeah ^_^

I am somehow of a fan of Star Trek graphic tees. I will buy honestly anything that I can find second-hand and at a reasonable price in my size (and sometimes not in my size.) However, there is one particular tee that I think deserves the title of Worst Star Trek Tshirt ever.

This is the graphic close-up. I think this find would be very valuable to study the Mirror Universe dimension, where there is an alternate Star Trek with an alternate bro Kirk who blows everything up and doesn't let Bones tell him what to do.

How to Clean and Maintain Your Trekking Shoes for Long-Term Use

Trekking allows you to experience life to the fullest while discovering the natural world. Walking on uneven terrain and getting yourselves all muddy is not for the weak-hearted. Globetrotters tend to move around and discover the parts of nature they have never seen before. While this experience is very beautiful, it comes along with wear and tear, mud, puddles, and most of it is related to your shoes. Therefore, it is important for your hiking shoes to stay strong. 

Here are ways you can take care of your trekking shoes to make the live longer. 

Remove dirt immediately: trekking comes with a lot of dirt and mud on your shoes. It is important to remove them right away. Leaving it for a long time can make it tough to wash afterward, causing damage to your shoes. Tap the shoes together while holding them by heels to knock off dirt and mud, or use a soft brush to scrub them off. Before the dirt settles on the shoes, clean the soles, seams, and nooks with a soft brush. Make sure the fabric of the shoes does not get damaged.

Deep clean: after the hike, your shoes for trek tend to get very dirty, and just taping them together and knocking off dirt is not enough. It requires deep cleaning. Remove insoles and laces before washing them since insoles might get damaged during it. Mix mild water with detergent and use a soft sponge to scrub. Do not use harsh chemicals and detergents that might destroy the outer layer or waterproof coating. Use a strong brush for rubber outsoles. 

Dry shoes: after cleaning is done, it is essential to dry them in the right way. If done wrong, it might affect the shoes’s structure and shape. Avoid drying your shoes using direct heat and prefer air drying them. Drying them using direct heat can damage materials like leather and degrade the quality as well. Make sure to stuff the inside with a cloth, towel, or newspaper to retain its structure and shape. It also helps to absorb moisture from the inside. Let the insoles dry separately.

Waterproofing: after everything is done, it is time to prepare your shoes for the next hike. Use a waterproofing spray and spray it evenly to make sure that no patch is left. Let it dry and it is all ready to withstand damp puddles and muddy trenches. 

Store your shoes properly: before storing your shoes, make sure they are properly dry. Look for a breathable bag to store your shoes that is dry as well. Keep it in the bag and protect it from any dust.  Avoid storing it in plastic bags and containers since it might be bad for the shoes.
