And the holonovel she was playing had a plotline in which the enchanted forest got destroyed in a fire. And Neelix walked through it trying to find Naomi and his voice was breaking. And he said that he thinks the program isn't suitable for children. Because he wanted to keep Naomi from a loss of innocence that happened to him when his whole family was killed. In a forest. By a weapon of mass destruction. And now Naomi's childhood was about to end and once again he was helpless to stop it? Also Tom Paris was right there what the fuck why didn't you guys vote for Tom Paris

The TOS movies are so oddly paced. I don't know enough about movies to theorize why that is but like why does Star Trek V spend so much time on the talking to god montage but then they don't do any exposition about who the fuck Sybok is and his relationship to Spock. Like I was always aware of Sybok because of fandom so coming into this movie I was like oh finally I get to meet the guy. Well I still don't fucking know because all the did is Spock said yeah I was raised with this guy. And Sybok is yeah that's true. Onto the montages of ships docking into places.

I just love the fact that Tuvok was already born by the TOS era.

There are some species of butteflies/moths that only eat when they're caterpillars, and when they change into adult form, they have no mouths or stomachs, and live off the energy they gathered as caterpillars. It's a pretty cool thing but everytime I see something about them I'm so perplexed by things people say about them.

"it's so sad, they can only live until their energy runs out" - so can you. everything has a limited lifespan

"it's so sad, they only live to reproduce" - i mean no more than any other insect "lives to reproduce". most animals are pretty preoccupied with this. including humans

"they're mindless zombies" - i really don't get this one. like obviously you can argue if any bug has "conciousness" or awareness (according to most definitions they probably don't) but why would this particular bug have *less* free will than one who eats?

"they starve to death their whole life/they slowly die of hunger" - again depends on a definition but i don't think that a being with no stomach can experience "hunger" so i don't think this is particularly painful

"it's depressing how short they live" - i mean it's short to You. other lifeforms could say you live a depressingly short time. and again this is the case with many bugs

like. it's crazy how people seem to be under the impression that the moth not eating makes for its entire existence some sort of limited trapped nightmare. as if moths who eat food are out there achieving self-awareness. frankly i don't think that the experiences of these two types of moths differ that much. like they just fly around. and are moths. you could probably learn things from them, such as how to be chill about some things

My assumptions about what the shows my following sometimes puts on my dash are about, based on the content I saw and no additional checking:

Mash - people in war making gay innuendos to one another and then doing surgery

Quantum leap - same this as Mash but then they time travel for some reason and with more transgenderism but I can't tell if it's in a woke way or not

Always sunny in Philadelphia - it's weird because I actually have zero idea despite seeing most content of it. I even watched episode clips online yet retained absolitely nothing. I think it's a sitcom but the moments I watched were oddly somber

Enterprise - an assortment of blonde men against grey backdrop with an occasional Jefrrey Combs with cutest little antenae you've ever seen

House MD - copaganda but for doctors

Re-animator - Jeffrey Combs in little glasses is on some doctor frankenstein shit

it's harder to sexualize garak's profession if you ever sewed before. garak on his knees. trying to find a comfortable position to cut fabric in on the floor because it's not really a table thing and also you don't have a table big enough and you can't lean on the fabric bc then it shifts god fucking damn it that was not the line you were supposed to cut at. now everything's fucking ruined
