I don’t think people utilize putting lotion on another’s scars scenes enough in fanfics tbh. Not in a sexual way but in a soft, caring way.
Scars can get very itchy and dry and you often have to put lotion on them, especially bigger scars. I don’t like the process very much and it’s hard to reach some of them. But asking someone for help would personally be very hard for me. It’s such a vulnerable thing. I read a very heartwarming fic years ago where one character helped the other apply lotion to their scars and it’s really stuck with me.
Anyways fanfic writers, more soft scar-tending fics pretty please? /nf <3

Odysseus: Oh hey, there's my dog! Haven't seen him in 20 years! Wow, he can recognize me despite Athena's disguise. That's dogs for you. He's so happy to see me. I'm crying. Let me go to him.

i love hercules and omphale because despite that fact that he is bigger and stronger and more powerful than her, he willingly becomes her slave (and, eventually, her lover and husband). it's such an interesting dynamic. to know that he could kill her if he wanted to, that her power over him is essentially pretend, but that he, the proud hercules, still plays along, a willing participant in his own subjugation. it's playful and subversive and even romantic.

autumn court magic being steeped in trickster dark magic. something about life and death, the give and take of energy. what you take from magic, it takes something of equal value in return. think like fae bargains and boons. love spells going wrong and bringing people back from the dead meaning something else must be sacrificed. an eye for an eye except the eye taken as payment is the only one you can see with now.
autumn court royalty and the generational curse of death and withering because of the sheer amount of magic they use to upkeep the land versus autumn court and the ban on the craft because of greed and the thirst for control.

#cont thoughts of my last rb but. i think ppl are so quick to say that teruko is a badly written character bc of her role in the story??#idk how to explain it but. yeah bsd isnt the best at writing female characters and theres hints of misogyny here and there#but ppl always say teruko's entire character is a product of misogyny and that is just. not true.#prob bc people focus too much on the fact that shes a rare female character idk#yeah shes extremely dedicated to the hunting dogs and fukuchi. her LEADER. i dont think thats misogyny#people dont say that about chuuya being extremely loyal to the mafia 😭😭#'her having to give the credit to fukuzawa for killing fukuchi is so misogynistic!!!' except youre ignoring what that scene is really about#it's about two kinds of people. how fukuzawa couldnt kill out of love vs how teruko killed because of it#it's about the fact that SHE can do it. shes strong enough to. SHE understands whats necessary. SHE pushed her feelings aside.#which i thought was amazing. it really solidified her role as a SOLDIER which was how she was introduced. shes VICE CAPTAIN of the hd i fee#like people always forget that.#it's also rare to see a female character act on smth that isnt emotional cause it's always male characters pushing aside their grief for th#better. i loved that we were shown how fukuzawa who is stone cold and an ex assassin CLDNT do it while teruko who is explosive and emotiona#could!! it was an interesting side to both their characters#thats not to say teruko isnt a victim of misogyny. cause people do hate her for traits they love in other characters (shes very similar to#ranpo and chuuya and jouno off the top of my head)#but to say that her entire self is a result of misogyny is doing a disservice to her character#and shows that you cant look past her relationships with male characters idk#saying she doesnt have anything outside male characters is so untrue i cant stand that argument. bc SHE DOES. youre the one not seeing it#her role during the skyfall arc was amazing how do we forget that#anyway sorry. to each their own ofc im not defending bsd's occasional bad writing#but teruko get behind me djhfjhd

my timbern hot take is that i thank god everyday that we got riley rossmo's art for those first few issues instead of serg acuña's because i know some of you bitches would've been extremely weird about timbern if we had gotten acuña's manga-esque style from the beginning
#some of you people would've been soooo weird about them#ooooh i just /know/ the discourse would've been so fucking crazy#and there would've been way too much discussion over who tops#and cause they drew tim taller in acuña's style#you woulda had people swearing up and down that it's tim#this post feels like swinging a bat at a hornet's nest#the amt of tiny waist/waif-like bear we would've gotten???#oh my god i'm like thanking every god i know that i ended up in this universe#who do you think would've gotten daddy-dom-ified?#i wanna say tim just bc he's a superhero and bear's a civvie but... maybe bear?#tim goes out and saves the city each night and then goes home and immediately becomes more pathetic than a wet dog for bear#i will be logging off after this /j#gonna post this and then immediately scrub the memory of this post out of my mind#also i think bear's pov issue was the perfect place for acuña's art#sorry but bear deserves to be drawn like that all the time#acuña idc if you work on the next shitty batfam story#i will always defend you#some dude 20yrs from now talking about acuña's work: didn't he do like *insert absolutely horrendous comic run here*#me frothing at the mouth: yeah but he did tdr7 so really i think it cancels out#dc#bernard dowd#tim drake#timber#timbern#also if we're being honest there is a reason that timbern got semi popular over jayjon#and that's bc timbern are 2 ***** men and jay is east asian and people will ship anything if they're *****#and bc ppl are still really hung up on d*m*j*n for some reason???? as if they aren't still friends???#and if you really want a mlm ship for damian‚ colin wilkes is right there!!!!#nika is right there!!! stop playin in my face!!!!#and!! i would argue that jayjon is written better than timbern

We interrupt this dashboard to tell you about the cutest image I've come across in my Civil War reading.
Abraham Lincoln playing with kittens.
Apparently there were three of them in the City Point telegraph office. Lincoln would pet them and play with them and wipe their little eyes with his handkerchief every time he stopped by during his trip there at the end of the war.
This was important enough to devote most of a chapter to.
I would like to thank this author for including the important parts of history.
