Ok as much as I don’t want to be involved with discourse I must say that I wish that Lurelin village was utilized more. I love beachy areas and the vibes and it’s such a pretty place, but overall there’s no reason to hang out there, except for that one mini game but it’s just a mini game compared to the other Hylian villagesyou know? Hateno has a home that you’ll eventually make your own, it has the tech lab that you go to for upgrades in botw. Tarrey town is a town you help build with an incredible side quest with people getting married, and the vibes makes it so hard not to return to it. But Lurelin is a very small village with nothing special to it. No labs, no personal connections, just a bunch of homies hanging out. And I wish there was something more there cuz I think it’s such a lovely place!

Totk did a much better job with Lurelin but it’s still less than the other Hylian villages you know? Each Hylian village has a major side quest (the mayor election for Hateno, Bolson’s daughter leaving and the monster sculptures, rebuilding Lurelin) which I feel like expand on the village’s more. Tarrey town is still under construction and it deals with just building things in general, in fact they’re building some of the zonai vehicles. Hateno is shown to be a simple farming community that also is growing with fashion, and Lurelin is shown to be a small but tight knit community. But the other two have some different in their towns compared to Lurelin. Hateno has that cute little school and the new fashion stuff, and Tarrey Town expanded to the ground. And yeah Lurelin was destroyed dhskbsksdb but once it’s rebuilt I feel like it’s the same from botw. No new buildings or expansions or anything which is such a shame! I think it’d be cool to see people on fishing boats or big boats by Lurelin fishing, or maybe take advantage of the pirate situation with actual pirates and not monsters and have some of the villagers help Link hunt them down or something. Idk maybe I’m missing something in totk cuz I truthfully haven’t been there since I rebuilt cuz, what reason is there for me to be there? It’s not different compared to the other two. If I’m missing something cool PLEASE let me know cuz I love Lurelin and I want to see more of it!

Again totk actually has cool stuff involved with Lurelin, but i feel like it’s less utilized compared to the other Hylian villages you know? I’m very glad they made one of the more important characters a guy from Lurelin, and we got some Lurelin language (Tauro my beloved) but even he’s not in it as much as the others (tho neither is Josha tbf, but still.) I’d just love to see more Lurelin stuff!

Kaiju no 8 ch.117 Review

Bruh I'm so shook right now! Some of my previous predictions turned out to be true. But I never would have guessed in what way!

Spoilers Ahead:

(And possible deranged rambling)

So it appears that the phantom samurai isn't an entity that has once had the kaiju shifting ability, the samurai IS the kaiju itself. Which is, holy shit!

It takes Kafka back in time to witness how it was created. I wonder if what's happening is similar to Assassin's Creed where using your genetic code, you can experience events that happened to your ancestors.

This would provide an explanation as to how the kaiju found Kafka. It identified Kafka through his bloodline.

Also, the way I shouted "My boiiiii!" when I saw Hoshina's ancestor lmao. Those cyndaphil looking eyes will forever stay with the Hoshina bloodline.

And I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but it never occurred to me that they were using kaiju weaponry back then. I just assumed that was a more resent development. That's really cool.

But, as Kafka states, its difficult to draw out power from them and they take a huge toll on the body compared to modern weapons.

It's also pretty funny how we got a hoshikaf moment in a flash back. I'd like to think that if Kafka really is in the place of his ancestor, he and Hoshina's ancestor had the same dynamic they have in modern day to some degree.

I'd gush about it more but I have to set that aside for now because this chapter takes a turn for the gruesome.

The warriors are able to take down the kaiju and I'm just as shocked as Kafka. Because I remember when Hoshina was talking about the warriors of the past and how their weaponry was more suited for smaller kaiju. But these clearly aren't KDF squads. It's untold thousands of warriors with spears, swords, archery, and cannons. What they lack in strength, they make up in numbers. And it works at first.

But the phantom samurai states that something happened that wasn't in the norm. If I remember correctly, they are called "after beasts".

So call me crazy but isn't that the same creature that they are currently fighting in modern day? I don't mean 9. The creature that is within 9. I don't think it was given a name yet so for convenience, I'm going to call it no.0 for now.

Kafka either recognizes this being as no.0 or has a gut feeling that the warriors are in danger. Regardless, Kafka is fully immersed in the flash back, thinking he can change events. That or these are the words of his ancestor and Kafka is just a spectator.

And can I just say that this is the most amount of gore we've seen from this manga. It isn't as visceral as say Chainsaw Man or other seinens. But this is a first for this particular manga. It makes the events much more brutal.

Man, this moment of Kafka seeing Hoshina's ancestor die and get eaten seriously hurts my soul. He may not have been the man Kafka knows but the fact they look so much alike is probably traumatic for him.

Kafka is forced to watch and experience the pain and loss of the warriors, even getting cut up himself. Given Kafka's personality, it must be agonizing for him to see people die and not be able to help this time.

And apparently this is a sentiment that the warriors share. As the phantom explains how helpless they all felt, the words "Damn it" flood the page, the same thought as Kafka.

We get interesting, or macabre, panels of the warrior souls converging together into one.

Forming into the creature responsible for kaiju no.8 existence.

So the phantom samurai is saying that all the souls of the dead warriors merged with their kaiju based armor, their collective consciousness united in one goal. Killing kaiju.

That is FUCKING AWESOME!

God damn it I wish chapters were longer I can't take the suspense anymore! We get something new every chapter but it never feels like enough aaaaagh! Please Naoya Sensei, I can't stand it! Its killing me fdfhdzcgd!

Anyways, time for predictions.

Even though I implied at the beginning that there where no kaiju shifters before Kafka, that might not be true. We still don't know what no.8 was doing before finding Kafka. It could have latched itself to another descendant of the warriors before Kafka but it was at a time with poor documentation and secrecy was necessary for their survival. The next chapter might go into that.

I no longer believe the phantom samurai to be a previous kaiju shifter. He looks to be an amalgam of the collective minds of the deceased warriors will.

I wonder why it took until now for the phantom to appear to Kafka. In his previous near death experiences, Kafka only saw the tiny kaiju repeating "kill" over and over.

Could it be that Kafka's training with Narumi, willingly giving himself up to kaiju no.8's full power, drew him closer to the warriors will?

OR, did the resurgence of no.0 trigger the phantom to appear due to it being the reason they all perished.

God, so many more questions. And I know they will likely be answered in the next few chapter but the wait is agony, blarg!

Summary:

He isn't an expert in emotional fucking baggage because mostly he just gave them away, kept none for himself. Obviously. He's too cool for that shit. But Bong Hwan's pretty fucking sure now that what he's feeling is missing Cheoljong. In a way that made him feel like his entire chest was raging all the time. - or a fix-it fic of sorts to Mr. Queen's ending.

Notes: So I rewatched this KDrama!!! When I first saw Mr. Queen, I was obsessed with Prince Yeongpyeong and Hwa-Jin (even wrote a story for them). Now though, I get why people didn't like the canon ending because AAAAAGH.

So I wrote my own fix-it fic. Not sure if it makes sense, but it made me happy writing it hihihi.

It hurts because the whole way here, Cid and Clive kept building each other up, kept learning from esch other. Where Clive was lost and needed Cid to see a way out, Cid needed Clive to see that he had been too set in his ways and fate might not be „a good death“ but „a good life“ if only they fought for it

I mean, the whole way here, they bantered back and firth so comfortably

And even mortally wounded, Cid fought to keep Clive and Jill save

This hurts man. This really hurts. Especially since Cid was possible the funniest and warmest character for me so far

My question for you is what kind of character interactions are you wanting Oda to explore most with Sabo, especially outside the Strawhats?

Personally, I would love to see him interact with characters like Law and Sanji the most. I feel like they could both be such good friends for him. Especially with all the parallels with Germa 66 and Corazon. Aaaaagh I just want him back in the story soooo bad. X(

I know he survived that pillar of destruction, so what i wanna see is how he interacts with the citizens that survived. I want to see him searching for survivors, building shelters, tending to wounds. I want to see him interact with “unimportant” people, if ya know what i mean.

But also i want to see him having internal conflicts as well. I want to see how he treats himself. We kinda got a glimpse of that in dressrosa, but I’d like more.

Im not picky though honestly. I know that he’s gonna get an important role in the future and One Piece has so much good-will with me that i know that whatever I get, will be enjoyable. I’ll take anything.

And that’s not me being desperate, I just dont mind 🤷‍♀️

I trust that Oda got good things planned, and I’m just here for the ride :)

My headcanon (mini fanfic) for Motor Ed convincing Dr Drakken to pierce their ears as teens: warning mentions of blood and alcohol.

For his 16th birthday, Eddie wanted earrings because all the cool rock stars, punkers, and metal artists had them. He asked his mother for one, but she heavily objected to it.

So after gathering all the supplies. Eddie and Drew locked themselves in Eddie's bedroom and then--

At his birthday party (family only), Eddie took Drew aside and convinced him to help him pierce his own ears. Eddie showed his cousin a sterling silver earring from the piercing shop downtown; he tried going by himself at first, but once he found out that pay was upfront and he couldn't just pierce-'n-dash like he would at diners with his meals, he stole one of the earrings when a new client came in and occupied the shop owner's attention.

Eddie said that he found his mother's sewing kit and told Drew that it would be easy piece-y lemon squeezy:

They just needed some ice cubes and towels.

"Oh and booze!" According to Eddie, "Doesn't matter if it's a liquor or a wine, all booze contains alcohol and alcohol disinfects!"

"I don't think that that's how it goes Eddie--"

"Shuddup, Drew I heard the piercer talk about alcohol!"

Drew thought hard, being the one who actually paid attention in class he pointed out: "What about Vodka? It's the closest we can get to pure alcohol. Unless you want sticky sweet earlobes from the wine..."

"Vodka, huh, mom's got a bottle in the cabinet!

See!? This is why I need you for this! You're like my own- uhhh, what's that dude from that book called again? Ya' know, the one with the monster that is made of body parts?"

"Are you talking about the scientist? Victor Frankenstein from Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein'?" Drew smirked proudly, Eddie beamed remembering the name again,

"No, no, no, no-- you're like that assistant-dude Igor! 'Specially with that brow man, you're like my own freaky sidekick!"

Drew's newfound pride shattered to the ground and he grumbled as he went off to find the supplies.

A loud scream alerted the mothers of the boys.

They managed to break open the lock and saw a bloody mess.

Drew looked very pale and Eddie was sobbing and holding his bloodied ear while rocking on the ground.

The thing is, both idiots thought it was a good idea to take a few swigs of Ed's mother's most expensive wine as liquid courage before doing this. Then Drew started to get second thoughts:

"Is this really a good idea?"

"Yes, it is! Let's just do it!"

Both of them went back and forth for at least half an hour until they solved their discourse by doing rock paper scissors, in which they sipped more wine in between each take. Drew eventually lost so he would be pierced first. Drew just wouldn't sit still, so in the end -after wasting another twenty minutes- Eddie gave up, it was him after all who wanted the earring.

"Look Drew, just hurry up before our moms notice that we're not at the party!" he said as he rubbed the vodka onto his earlobe with a towel.

"Alright then, here goes nothing..." With a trembling hand, Drew took the leather needle -that unfortunately had a bit of a dull tip because it's been used often- and roughly pushed it through Eddie's earlobe

Eddie muffled his groans in a towel he bit on. Drew took out the needle and blood started coming out.

"Oh shit-- Oh fuck, oh SHIT!!"

"W-What's wrong cou-AAAAAUAA! AAAAAGH!!"

In a panic frenzy, Drew tried forcing the earring into the lobe to plug it up and prevent it from bleeding more. However, the metal rod of the earring was bigger than the needlehole itself, so forcing it through caused the wound to burn and bleed harder, the alcohol didn't help either.

And there they were, two drunken dimwits crying their eyes out as their mothers screamed at them while the neighbor called 911.

Eddie went with his mom to the hospital for a tetanus shot, just in case, and both he and Drew got grounded for up to 2 months.

Eddie tried wearing the earring for a while outside his mother's vision but putting it in and taking it out hurt more than it was worth it. So eventually he stopped wearing it and his lobe grew shut again.

To this day, Motor Ed still has a very faint scar on his lobe.
