I've started playing Potion Permit, and so far it's one of my favorite games I've messed around with, but the most big brained move the devs made was giving you a dog on day 1, and then making that dog able to track NPCs and lead you directly to them no matter where they are in the town.

#im still early game but i like the play and the writing is passable #like #Theres a flatness #the characters Are distinct but theyre mostly just their jobs #with only a few who stand out and have like. something to really grab onto #Like rue? rues entire deal is little girl you can date. Nothing else behind those eyes. She has nothing better to talk to you about #than the fact her favorite color is red #Sorcelia? Sorcelia is a goth nun who loves singing and teaches one of the village children #Reynerd? sure is a guy #got nothing else to say about him. hes just a Guy™. Victor? Has ghost friends and loves bugs and cares deeply about the cemetery #he tends to. At the moment it feels like they're trying to imply there aren't actually ghosts. and hes just talking to himself/#insisting his imaginary friends are real people #and so far? The games been cool about it. Victor's a member of his community and his eccentricities are accepted and not ridiculed #all four characters ive mentioned are romance candidates. but its just as hit or miss with the regular towns folk #Opalheart is an older woman and a world renowned blacksmith who only takes jobs if they will do Good. regardless of whether or not they #pay well. She declines to make a dagger for a rich man but makes a helmet for a childs father bc the girl asked #and olive is here #anyways you can be best friends with a cat (shes just a regular cat) and i appreciate that #idk im putting it above sun haven in my ranking of life sim games #purely because there are older romance candidates.#no fat romance candidates. but sun haven doesn't have thise either.#and sdv has neither fat or old candidates Nor can you fuck a cat boy. it goes at the bottom.#gameplay wise sunhaven is at the bottom then sdv then potion permit at the top. sunhaven has the Most™ but having #a lot of crap doesn't mean its fun and it ends up making half the game feel really incomplete #idk. #thinkin too much about gortie side characters again.#sally this time and why she specifically talks about him the way she does #like dravo is obviously still shitty but to me he was. ‘just ‘neglectful #while sally actively hated and even felt terrorised by her own child #like. it’s not like i don’t understand her at all.#imagine you and your love don’t have much besides each other and your shop and you get pregnant and ready to raise a child #only for it to not be a child he didn’t and doesn’t cry ever and he learns everything so much sooner than most but then he never calls you #his parents and it’s not just a petty thing kids do sometimes you feel that he doesn’t see you as family and the worst part is that you #agree deep down #and as he gets older he doesn’t have any friends and actively rejects the notion of the entire concept #but then as time passes you hear about how he has entire groups of children following him and then several of them commit suicide #and that thing coming to sit with you and dravo at the dinner table says that he did what you did last week when the axe to chop wood broke #and you discarded it and got a new one #and he has these habits of ripping out flowers and making sure that they don’t regrow #and then you hear rumours about a friend’s daughter’s cat disappearing and think nothing of it #until you visit his tree house a month later and find a declawed cat and birds with clipped wings and crushed bugs that he keeps fondly #and then you see him with other children and they don’t know and his face is different and body language is entirely different #and were it not for the fact that you know better you would never see anything but a normal child #and you know that you are one who painstakingly brought this thing that should not be into the world and so you decide to end it all one da #and go to him as he’s asleep with the knife shaking in your hand #but he cries when you’re above him! screams at the top of his lungs!#so you beg for forgiveness even though you don’t deserve it through tears but as soon as the knife is put away you see the act drop and fee #his clever fingers having twisted your brain inside and out and you know that you can do nothing #and so the opportunity arises to at least remove him out of your life if not everyone’s lives and you take it immediately.#but you heard him talk. how he will close his fist around the world one day. and you know that it is not a matter of if but when.#like. imagine that. jesus dude.#like i hc her as someone that is messy and does not know a lot about life and she certainly wouldn’t have been a good mother but the love #or at least desire to love is there somewhere. and believing that having a child is really the only somewhat meaningful thing she can do #with her life. she’s not some hero or rich or anything of note. so there’s a lot obligation and not genuine desire for family here.#but she never really got the chance to be an actual mother in the first place so. who knows what that might have looked like

I wish Erin Hunter would hire me not because I particularly care about Warrior Cats anymore but because I know a lot about cat behavior and it makes me really really irritated seeing people draw cat body language so incorrectly

#cats dont run in fear with their tails up #thats a play behavior exclusively #if a cat is afraid of something they tuck down as low to the ground as possible and bolt the fuck out of there like a lizard #this is just one of many many many many many gripes i have #i understand anthropomorphization and how much erin hunter anthropomorphizes their cats for the sake of readers' understanding #because their audience is teenagers #but i think xenofiction‚ especially something as massive as warriors‚ should be a vessel for teaching mammalian psychology #at least make it so your feral cat characters are actively wary of their environment when they arent in their dens #domestic cats are far from being the top of the foodchain. even with intelligence beyond what they naturally have irl--#--they should be extremely aware of and cautious about the fact there are any number of predators in their natural habitat #and that they are a genuine danger to be aware of when they're not hidden #especially since so many of the cats are described with white markings‚ which should have been bred out a long time ago #due to the fact they're hypervisible and attract predators‚ making them moving targets #blackstar baffles me. he is completely white. he is the biggest target for predators in the entire clan. and yet he leads it #i have many thoughts erin hunter hire me

Dragon Fire Opal is the last of the fusion redesigns! Im going to be making all new combinations next!

While i was deciding what gems to keep and which ones to change, i realized that Dragon Fire Opal fit these two much better than JJ and Anti. Much happier with this! (Though i might tweak the colors later, i did this at 2 in the morning)

Like any rockstar, he is fraught with instability and issues. But the show must go on and he will get the job done

i decided to do soemthing i dont usually and do ricky/savannah doe!! (although my personal hc is that savannah is a name for one of rickys characters, i still toootally love transfemme ricky/savannah so im using her for this)

i think the space theme could be utilized more in the way that, shes still stuck 'sailing through space' while the rest of the choir is in the warehouse now. (like how at the end of bojd there is a projection of stars!! its already part of janes character i just want to turn that up more!!) so that but like, through the whole thing. so for example, she could say a fact about how lonely/scary space is instead of the lion thing!! and just stare off into the distance to show that her mind is not really here. also savannah doe would still be disabled obviously, but ofc she doesnt know that so during her entrance she takes 2 steps and barely realizes something is Not Right before she has to grab on to something. so for the rest of the show she is either sitting or using random things in the warehouse (that penny gives her) as a makeshift mobility aid. very confused all the time and wandering randomly, afraid to touch people (as opposed to hugging people all the time like most penny janes)
