Summary: Tony instigates an arm wrestling contest with Bucky, and no one can beat him until you step up to the plate. The thing is, he’s a superhuman and you’re just a regular person. Something isn’t adding up here.
Squares Filled: thor (2021) for @buckybarnesbingo
Author’s Note: any and all comments are greatly appreciated <3

Tony never fails to throw a legendary party. You’ve never been invited to one until you were drafted into the team. You’re not a superhuman, you don’t have powers, and you can easily be killed in a fight. However, you do have amazing hacking skills that have been useful for the team over the past year. You can remotely get into any account, jump over any firewall, and hack into any system with your equipment from your office.
You don’t even have to leave the compound to help.
To be surrounded by such powerful people is a bit overwhelming, but you try not to show how much it’s affecting you. Alcohol always calms you down so you immediately head to the bar. Sam laughs from the right of you, and you see he’s talking to Steve and Bucky over by the pool table. Ah, Bucky Barnes. The Winter Soldier. The hottest man at the party. The hottest man in any room. To look more casual, Bucky sports a backward hat and a thin t-shirt that accentuates his muscles. No one here is scared of him so he’s not shy about hiding his metal arm.
You often fantasize about what his arm could really do to someone like you.
“You should go over and talk to him.” You jump at Natasha’s voice, and you look to see her and Wanda standing next to you. “Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.”
“What are you talking about? I’m not staring at him.”
“We never said you were,” Wanda smirks.
“You definitely were, though.”
“Oh, yeah, totally.”
“Okay, stop. I’m not crushing on Bucky.”
“It’s okay if you are. He’s hot.”
“Why don’t you talk to him if you think he’s so hot?” you grumble.
“Not my type,” Nat answers. “I’m already a deadly assassin. I don’t need another one in my life.”
“Why don’t I go over to him and tell him how much you love him?” Wanda suggests with a smirk.
“Don’t you dare, Maximoff.”
Both women laugh, and Natasha slaps a hand on your shoulder.
“Lighten up. Have another drink.” Natasha orders you another drink and you take it gratefully. “Seriously, though, you should go for it. You clearly don’t see the looks he gives you when you’re not paying attention. He’s whipped for you. You could ask him for anything and he’d give it to you.”
“I’m nothing compared to him. He’s a super soldier. I’m just a weak human. He’s not into me.”
Nat and Wanda look at each other, and both of them shrug. “You’ll get there eventually.”
With alcohol in your system, you’re more social with everyone but Bucky. You’d have to get seriously fucked up to talk to Bucky. He makes you so nervous and you don’t want to do anything to embarrass yourself.
By the time ten rolls around, most of the people have left the party so only the Avengers are left. This group is more chilled than the previous one because no one is trying to impress someone. Only the elite have been invited to the party, and they were starstruck in the eyes of the Avengers. Everyone here knows what everyone can do so it’s more laid back and chill.
“Be honest with me,” Tony says to Bucky. “How much can you bench with that thing?”
“I don’t know,” Bucky chuckles. “I never tested it.”
“I bet I could take you.”
“Excuse me?”
“In an arm wrestling contest. Get your mind out of the gutter. I don’t run that way.”
Tony is drunk otherwise he wouldn’t be saying this, but Bucky finds amusement in it. Tony is persistent which is how you got here. Everyone wants a piece of Bucky’s metal arm to see if they can beat him. Knowing he can’t do it by himself, Tony grabs one of his Iron Man suit arms to give him that extra boost.
Tony fails, and Bucky doesn’t even look like he broke out in a sweat.
Rhodey tries and fails. Natasha and Clint know better than to take on a vibranium arm without powers. Bruce is scared he’ll turn into the Hulk if he strains himself too much. Wanda doesn’t compete because she’ll probably win with her magic, and she’s curious as to how this is going to end. Steve steps up to the plate and grabs Bucky’s metal hand confidently. The only person who thinks he might actually have a shot. Both men start the match, and Steve looks like he is going to win when Bucky gets a second wind and slams Steve’s hand on the desk.
The only person who can beat Bucky without any issue is Thor, but he’s on Asgard right now so he’s out of the running.
“Who’s next?” Bucky asks confidently.
“You’re so sure he’s whipped for me?” you whisper to Nat and Wanda. “There’s a way to tell if he is or not.”
“How?”
“He’ll let me win.” You step up to the table and take off your jacket. “I can do it.”
“You’re not doing it, Doll,” Bucky chuckles. “You’re going to get hurt.”
“What, are you chicken?” You look at everyone. “Hear that everyone? Bucky’s scared to go up against a girl.”
“Fine.” You turn to Bucky. “It’s your health. I won’t be the one who will end up with a broken arm.”
Bucky changes hands and grabs your hand with his flesh one.
“Why not your other hand?”
“I’m not using my metal arm on someone who doesn’t have any powers. It won’t be a fair fight.”
He has a point. You position yourself and look at Steve who taps the desk. You and Bucky immediately start to wrestle, and you’re using every bit of strength you have. Bucky has to admit, you’re strong for a woman of your stature but it’s not enough to beat him. However, the look of concentration and determination you have is too cute to diminish.
He pulls his strength back and lets you slam his hand to the desk.
You jump back and cheer for your victory, and he can’t help but smile. Everyone knows he let you win but you don’t care. You’re the only one who has been able to beat him whether or not it was a pity win. You join Nat and Wanda’s side with a huge smile on your face, and Steve and Sam approach Bucky with knowing looks on theirs.
“You let her win,” Steve says.
“You’re whipped, man,” Sam laughs.
“Yeah, I did, but look how happy she is.”
“You know he let you win, right?” Natasha whispers to you.
“Yeah, but that proves one thing. I have that man wrapped around my finger. He’s into me,” you beam.
“Finally, you see it,” Wanda laughs.
You look back at Bucky to see him already looking at you, and you smile right back.

Pietro Maximoff x stark!fem!reader
Summary: You've always hated Pietro for his player tendencies—turns out he's never hated you at all.
Genre: Fluff, hurt and comfort (enemies to lovers)
Warnings: implied fuck-boy!Pietro, reader is Tony Stark's daughter (no physical description), reader hates Pietro in the beginning, mentions of blood and gun wounds, swearing, because Sokovia isn't real- I used Czech as Pietro and Wanda's language (i don't speak Czech so i used translating sites…if it's wrong, pls tell me)
~ thank you to the anon who requested this! this is my very first time writing for Pietro, please tell me what you think! ~
PIETRO MAXIMOFF MASTERLIST
Your father has always been overprotective of you.
He usually doesn't involve you with his affairs when you're with him and not at Mom's, choosing to have your room as far from any Avengers as he possibly could. At sixteen, you didn't like this—you felt like you deserved to live normally in your own home—so when he asked you to become friends with his newest members, Twins from Sokovia who also happened to be sixteen, and make them feel welcomed, you were more than happy to do so.
You liked Wanda Maximoff from the first moment you met her. She seemed quiet and shy in the beginning, but she also has this fiery side to her that you admire. She never took shit from anyone, including her brother.
Pietro Maximoff was very different from his sister. You remember standing in your room, your dad by your side, with an unamused Wanda in front of you as a blue blur sparked across the room, occasionally skidding to a stop and knocking over some books or picking up some trinkets and making unnecessarily judgmental and overly excited comments.
"Pietro," Wanda hissed, "Přestaň (Stop it)."
His sister's warning had only made his grin widen, his silver hair falling over his strikingly blue eyes as he returned next to her, his arms crossed. "Promiňte (Sorry)." You didn't know what he'd said, but it didn't sound like he meant it.
"Wanda," he pointed to his sister as he introduced her, and then his grin turned into a smile. "Pietro," he said, pointing to himself, and then he outstretched his hand with no awkwardness or hesitation. You looked down and then up at him again, turning to your dad with an unsure expression but when he nodded, you shook Pietro's hand.
"Y/n," you whispered with a smile, and as you shook his hand, what could have been the start of a wonderful friendship, should have started that day.
Should have.
In the beginning, it was childish teasing—which involved stealing things from your room and hiding them around the tower because it made Pietro laugh, running past you in the halls so quickly you'd almost fall over, or jokingly ruining any chances with any boys at school because he'd stick his nose in business that never involved him.
Most of the team and your dad found your banter funny—encouraging the same boys will be boys' bullshit that meant that as the years passed, your dislike for Pietro only worsened.
It especially didn't help when, by seventeen, he'd found out he was pleasant enough to look at and that girls seemed to adore his boyish charm. So, any chance he had, he'd either heavily flirt with girls at school, or find excuses during missions to pick up any pretty girl he came across.
Of course, this behavior only increased in his twenties and made him all the more annoying—especially since you began working the coms and the computer for when the team was out on missions. Ever since Ultron, your dad now trusted you more than a robot.
You're curled up in your chair, your headphones on as you watch the multiple screens in front of you. Some have news outlets playing out the scene while others have the biometrics of Iron Man's suit and the others' suits to make sure all is well. You also have every member in your ear as your fingers glide over the keyboard.
"Dad?" you switch the coms and touch the microphone.
"Yes, Y/n?" Tony Stark's voice echoes in your headphones and you smile.
"I can try and hack into the network of that bastard's suit if you want?"
"Actually, Y/n, can you locate Quicksilver for me? He was supposed to evacuate all the civilians but I can't reach him anymore. Could you try? He always answers you,"
Great, Pietro duty—again.
"Can't I do something more useful?"
Tony chuckles, making you glance at one of your computer screens where you can see him hovering in the air, protecting the civilians on the ground from some shit-bag escaped prisoners who had taken over some secret government-type weaponry and causing all kinds of havoc.
Steve and Natasha seem to be handling the situation with some tact, while Wanda looks like she's having fun crunching the weapons in the men's hands with her mind. All in all, the team seems like they're handling things just fine without Pietro around.
"Quicksilver is useful to me, darling. I know he's not your favorite person right now, Y/n, but he's a valuable member of my team and I need you to find him for me."
You huff. "He was never my favorite person," you whisper roll your chair over to another keyboard, and disconnect Tony from your headphones. You bite your cheek and hit enter. "Pietro? Hello?"
No answer.
You change the signal.
"Wanda?"
"Hello!" Wanda answers and you hear some commotion in the background.
"Where's your brother?" you ask, "he isn't answering me."
"I don't know," Wanda says and after a moment she adds, "I can feel him though."
"Thanks," you say, although she'd been completely unhelpful. All you'd learned was that Pietro was definitely alive—which wasn't really a concern of yours since you hadn't assumed something happened to him. You just assumed he was missing.
"Y/n?"
You hear him in your headphones and you quickly change the channel again, pressing your lips closer to your microphone. "Pietro," you say.
"Yeah?" Pietro sounds like he's running, "What's up, Princezna (Princess)?"
"Don't call me that," you say, knowing damn well he'll call you that anyway. He always has. "Tony wants you. Where have you been?"
Pietro laughs. "I got a little distracted, Moje srdce (My heart)." You hear what sounds like another pet name—he calls you that from time to time you just refuse to ask him what it means.
You want to ask him what he means by distracted, but you assume it has something to do with him getting some girl's number so you don't want to know anymore. "I'm on my way back now so no need to worry your pretty head about me."
"I wasn't worried about you," you say instantly, "I was ordered to find you. Very different."
"Sure, Princezna, sure," Pietro says, his voice husky as he stops and takes a breath. "When are you going to fess up and admit you like me, hm? This cat-and-mouse game has been fun and all, but c'mon, what will it take for you to understand? Tady mě zabíjíš (You are killing me here)."
"Understand what?"
"Understand that I–" Just as he speaks, you hear more familiar voices and shouting in the background and you look to one of the screens from a news outlet where you can see that Pietro is back with the team, only he's not running anymore. No, he looks like he's swaying. You stand to look closer at the screen.
"Pietro?" you call into the mic, trying to understand what happened until you see him fall to the ground, clutching his side as his blue suit stains red. He must have stopped running for a moment and one of the fucking assholes dressed in machinery must have shot him. You panic and run to an opposite computer and change the channel one last time.
"Wanda?" you whisper, your voice hoarse and shaky as you look back at the screen and see that Clint has found Pietro, and Wanda is running up to them too. "W-Wanda?" you try once more, watching her on-screen as she tends to her brother and ignores you.
You feel completely powerless.
* * *
When everyone comes home, you feel stupid as you greet them. Most of the Avengers send you sympathetic smiles as Tony walks up to you. Clint, Wanda, and Pietro aren't with them. You look up at your dad, feeling embarrassed that you're worried for someone you claim to hate.
Tony's expression softens as he hugs you stoically, he's not much for this type of affection but he can see you need this as you bury your nose into his shoulder.
"He's being checked now but nothing serious," your dad sounds calm, "he's fine, darling."
You pull away, forcing a look of nonchalance as you. "I- I know that I- I didn't care either way," you lie shamelessly.
Tony shakes his head, sounding exhausted when he says, "You're so stubborn, just like your mom." He ruffles your hair and kisses your forehead. "You can see him in a bit, I'm sure. I'll tell Wanda to come find you when he can have visitors."
You nod and spend the next few hours pacing your room, nibbling at the skin around your nails until you taste blood and finally, someone walks into your room—only it isn't Wanda. It's Pietro himself. He's wearing a slightly wrinkled tank top and a pair of slacks hung loosely around his hips. It's almost sinful. He grins cockily and runs a hand in his hair, his shirt riding up to expose his stomach. You stare at him, wide-eyed and your hand drops from your mouth.
"What are you doing out of bed?!" you say, sounding more worried than you'd intended.
"What are you? My máma?" Pietro laughs and leans against the edge of your vanity. "I heal quick," he shrugs and looks around your room. He hadn't been in here in a while. He smirks. "Still sleep with Teddy, hm?" he hums.
You feel warmth in your cheeks and you send your poor beaten-up-with-love Teddy-Bear a glare as if it was his fault you still slept with him in your arms at twenty-four. "Ha ha, funny," you mumble and move to stand in front of Pietro so he can't make fun of any more of your belongings. "No– I don't. Can you leave now?"
Pietro crosses his arms and tilts his head, his blue eyes piercing into yours. "Stark said you wanted to see me."
Of course, he did.
You narrow your eyes. "Well, I have seen you and I see you're fine so now I've changed my mind," you say with a shrug and point to your door, waiting for him to make the decision and leave.
"You don't even wanna ask why I was distracted out there?" Pietro says and a smirk curls his lips.
"No–"
You feel the wind in your hair and in a blink, he's standing much closer to you with a slight pant—as if he'd just run—and he's holding a small bent bouquet of roses in his hands. He holds them out for you and you stare at them in disbelief.
"What are those?"
"Roses."
You glare at him. "I know that but why?"
"I saw them and thought of you," he says so nonchalantly you almost don't believe him.
"What? When?"
"When I was helping the civilians," Pietro shrugs and his eyes are intense. He pauses after a moment and raises his hand, his knuckles skimming your cheek. You freeze, warmth spreading all over your cheeks as you panic internally. "Saw them in the park and I wanted to get them for you."
Your eyes widen. "Isn't that illegal?"
Pietro smirks. "Not if it's done in the name of love, Princezna."
"I don't think that's how that works—" Realization dawns on you and you feel like you're spinning. "Wait, wait, what did you just say?"
Pietro laughs and his hand moves to tuck some hair behind your ear, smiling. Maybe he's excited but you can feel his skin vibrate on yours. Your heart is pounding so heavily and your mind is screaming at you that this is all a trick and this is what he does with girls. He throws around the l-word and expects women to fall at his feet. He's a player.
"What I was trying to tell you before I was rudely shot, is why haven't you caught on and understood that I'm madly in love with you?"
What?!
You blink at him and then take a step away from him, shaking your head as you force a laugh. "Pietro, this isn't funny. It isn't funny to mess with me like this. You know how I feel about you playing with my feelings—"
Pietro frowns. "Playing with you?"
You roll your eyes. "Please, it's just not funny, okay?"
"You think this is a joke, mé srdce (my heart)? Ach, můj drahý (Oh, my dear)," Pietro says in a whisper and moves closer to you again, his hand reaching for yours as he hands you the roses.
"I'm not messing with you. I tease you sometimes, but my feelings are real. I haven't messed around with any women in years—minus that mistletoe kiss—" he rubs his nape, mentioning the time you'd caught him and an office girl kissing at last Christmas party. He didn't mean for that to happen, and even less for you to see him.
You're really trying to understand him now but nothing is making sense. "You have feelings for me?" You whisper, your eyes wide. You feel like you've entered some alternative reality. "You can't just say things like that now, Pietro. It's not fair."
His expression turns more serious than you've ever seen him. "I'm not saying this lightly, Y/n. I know I've been a jerk to you, but I was a stupid kid who didn't know how to express his feelings and then it was too late because you hated me. But, I have always cared for you, miláček (darling). I really have."
You move back, your eyes round, processing his words. All those years of childish teasing, all those petty arguments you'd had, and all the jealousy you've felt suddenly hit you like a train and you're left broken and bruised. He had feelings for you? You've been pushing him away because you were scared of how you felt about him.
"Why now? Why did you choose to tell me all this now?" you ask, shaking the roses in your hands as your voice trembles.
Pietro exhales. "Because when Wanda mentioned me how worried you were about me, I realized how much I need you in my life. Need you beside me. I didn't want to hide my feelings anymore— and I picked those flowers wanting to confess anyway. I want to be with you, Y/n. No more games, just us."
You feel a mix of relief and fear. Deep down, you've wanted to hear this for so long, but it's as terrifying as you'd imagined. You look up at him, walking in closer and you can hear your heart in your throat when you run a hand in his silver hair, holding him and pulling him down to meet his lips.
You've convinced yourself this would be confirmation. Confirmation that this was a bad fucking idea. Instead, his kiss is intoxicating and it makes your mind go all fuzzy. Of course, he'd be good at this, he'd been quite the whore—your thought is interrupted by Pietro pulling you in closer and deepening the kiss, his hand finding your hip.
You gasp, leaning up into him as the world as you'd known it crashes around you.
"Sakra, Princezna (Damn, Princess)," Pietro murmurs into your lips, holding you close. "This is so much better than I imagined."
"You imagined this?" you say, sounding more teasing than you'd anticipated as you're left breathless from his kisses.
Pietro hums. "All the damn time," he admits and kisses you again.
After more kisses, he finally pulls away. "So, is that a yes? You want be with me too?" he asks hopefully and you look into his eyes, taking in his excitement. You don't dare even think of breaking his heart as anyway, your swells at the mere thought of being his.
You nod but then smirk and pull him back in for a kiss, your hand fisting his shirt, "Kiss me some more and then I'll tell you."
And he does just that.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥SUMMARY: You and Logan get invited to the Avengers game night by your father, Tony Stark. As usual, Wade tags along.
Part 2 of ‘Meet The Family’ (or can be read as a standalone)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IT WAS A WARM SATURDAY EVENING AT THE AVENGERS COMPOUND, and the living room was already buzzing with chatter and laughter. Tony Stark had decided to host a game night, something rare but always chaotic in the best way possible. Naturally, you and Logan had been invited. Well, more like dragged into it by Tony, who had left you a not-so-subtle voicemail: "Game night. Be there, or I’ll build an Iron Man suit with your name on it. Logan too."
Now, you were sitting on the couch, sandwiched between Logan, who had that same calm, unbothered expression, and Wade, who had somehow found his way into the compound again without being invited.
“Alright, team,” Tony announced, standing at the head of the room like he was about to launch into a company presentation. “Tonight, we’re doing things a little differently. No Monopoly. No Twister.” He glanced pointedly at Thor, who looked almost disappointed. “And definitely no more karaoke. Clint, I'm looking at you.”
Clint snorted, leaning back in his chair. “Hey, my rendition of ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ was iconic.”
“Iconic, yes,” Tony quipped. “Also responsible for me needing to soundproof this place. No, tonight, we’re going to play—wait for it— Avengers Trivia.”
There was a collective groan from around the room. Steve facepalmed, and Natasha narrowed her eyes at Tony. “You cannot be serious.”
“Oh, I’m dead serious, Nat,” Tony replied, a grin spreading across his face. “Jarvis is going to be our quizmaster. Everyone teams up in pairs, and we’ll see who really knows the most about this weird, dysfunctional little family we’ve built.”
Logan’s eyes flicked to you, one eyebrow raised. “Trivia? This what you do for fun?”
You chuckled, nudging him playfully. “Trust me, it gets wild.”
Wade, who was seated cross-legged on the floor like a child, raised his hand. “Ooh, ooh! I call Logan as my partner!”
“Absolutely not,” Logan deadpanned, cutting him off without hesitation.
“Rude,” Wade muttered under his breath.
Tony clapped his hands. “Alright, pick your partners. (Y/N), you’re with Logan. Nat, you’re with Steve. Clint, you’re with—”
“Me,” Wade interrupted, grinning maniacally. “The unstoppable duo is back!”
Clint groaned but didn’t argue. “Great. This’ll be fun.”
Thor was happily pairing up with Bruce, already talking about how their combined Asgardian and science knowledge would be “unmatched in the Nine Realms.”
“Let’s get started!” Tony called, snapping his fingers. “Jarvis, first question!”
The familiar voice of the AI butler filled the room. “First question: Who was the first Avenger to officially join S.H.I.E.L.D.?”
Before anyone could answer, Wade leaped to his feet. “Easy! It was Deadpool! Wait, no, I was too cool for S.H.I.E.L.D. It was Cap. Yeah, totally Captain America.”
“That’s correct,” Jarvis responded, and Wade pumped his fists triumphantly.
Steve glanced at Wade in disbelief. “How do you—never mind, I don’t want to know.”
Natasha smirked. “Looks like we’re off to a good start.”
Logan, leaning back in his seat, glanced at you with a smirk. “They’re really competitive about this, aren’t they?”
“Oh, you have no idea.”
Jarvis continued, “Second question: Which Avenger has the most confirmed hand-to-hand combat victories?”
Thor stood up, beaming with pride. “It is clearly I! Thor Odinson, warrior of Asgard!”
“Actually, the answer is Natasha Romanoff,” Jarvis corrected.
Thor froze, his confidence momentarily faltering. “Ah, well… yes, Lady Natasha is indeed formidable in battle.”
Natasha gave a small, smug wave. “Don’t feel bad, Thor. You’ve got the hammer thing going for you.”
The next few questions flew by, with Clint and Wade bickering over every answer, Steve trying to be diplomatic, and Tony repeatedly congratulating himself for knowing all the answers to his own questions.
Finally, Jarvis posed a question that had Logan sitting up straighter: “What is the most common alias used by Wolverine in the field?”
Wade immediately blurted, “Oh! Oh! It’s Wolverine! Wait, no—Patch! Or is it ‘That Angry Canadian Guy’? Ooh, I know—Hairy Murder Grandpa!”
Logan shot Wade a warning look. “Don’t push it.”
Wade, not knowing when to quit, leaned closer to Clint and stage-whispered, “I’m pretty sure it’s Patch. He wore an eye patch. So mysterious, so dashing.”
Clint rolled his eyes. “Is it Patch?”
Logan nodded. “That’s one of them.”
Jarvis confirmed, “Correct. Wolverine has used the alias Patch on numerous occasions, particularly in Madripoor.”
Wade looked smug, puffing out his chest. “See? I know my friends. Not that we’re friends, but you know, friends in a ‘he’ll tolerate me’ kind of way.”
Logan’s gaze met yours, and you couldn’t help but smile at the absurdity of the situation. “You’re handling this a lot better than I thought you would,” you whispered to him.
He shrugged. “Not my first rodeo with these types. They’re alright. Except him,” he said, nodding toward Wade, who was now debating with Clint whether Deadpool could be considered an honorary Avenger.
After a few more rounds of questions—with your team surprisingly holding its own—Tony stood up, waving his hand for attention. “Alright, alright. Let’s mix things up. I’m bored of trivia. Time for the lightning round: Avengers Charades.”
“Oh no,” Steve muttered under his breath, already looking weary.
“Oh yes!” Tony replied, grinning mischievously. “Everyone, pair up with a new partner. This time, one person will act out an iconic Avenger moment, and the other person guesses.”
Clint clapped his hands together. “This should be good. Wade, you’re on my team. Let’s see if you can manage to not ruin this.”
“Challenge accepted!” Wade chirped.
Natasha swapped with you so that you were now paired with Steve, while Logan found himself paired with Bruce. Bruce looked mildly terrified, but Logan just nodded in his calm, stoic way.
Tony raised his hand again. “Alright, first team up—Logan and Bruce. Let’s see what you’ve got!”
Bruce stood up, nervously adjusting his glasses. “I’ll, uh, act it out. You guess.”
Logan grunted. “Fine.”
Bruce stepped to the middle of the room and began... well, thrashing around. He flailed his arms, growling and making these deep, guttural noises, then pretended to smash something invisible with both hands.
Logan blinked. “The Hulk?”
“Correct!” Tony shouted, laughing. “That was the easiest one! Come on, Bruce, give us something harder next time!”
Bruce, looking sheepish, sat back down as Logan gave him a brief nod of approval.
Next, it was your turn with Steve. You drew a card from the deck Tony had provided and grinned. Oh, this was going to be fun. You stood up, positioned your hands like you were grabbing two handles, then mimed jumping out of a plane with a parachute. Steve’s eyes lit up with recognition.
“Cap jumping out of the Quinjet without a parachute.”
“Correct!” Tony called, and Steve laughed, shaking his head. “I knew you were gonna do that one.”
As the game went on, Wade acted out a scene from Thor: Ragnarok with over-the-top dramatics, pretending to be both Thor and Hulk fighting in the arena. Clint just threw his hands in the air. “I’m not guessing this.”
Thor, of course, took the opportunity to stand up and reenact an exaggerated version of his own scene, complete with an invisible Mjölnir that he swung wildly around the room.
“Another point for Team Asgard!” Thor announced proudly, and Bruce just shook his head.
Finally, it came down to Tony’s team—himself and Nat. Tony drew a card and immediately smirked. He stood up, putting on a ridiculously exaggerated “hero” pose, and then pretended to fire repulsor blasts from his hands.
Natasha crossed her arms. “Really, Tony? You’re just doing yourself?”
“Can you blame me?” Tony replied, winking at her.
Natasha sighed. “Iron Man in literally every movie you’ve been in.”
“Bingo!” Tony grinned, bowing dramatically as if he’d just performed Shakespeare at the Globe.
The night wrapped up with everyone gathered in the living room, laughing and sharing stories. You leaned against Logan, feeling his steady presence beside you as the chaos of your family—both old and new—buzzed around you.
“Well,” Logan said quietly, watching as Thor tried to explain to Clint why throwing Mjölnir wasn’t cheating in charades, “this wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be.”
You smiled, resting your head on his shoulder. “Told you. We’re a weird bunch, but we’re family.”
Logan looked down at you, a rare softness in his eyes. "Yeah, I can see that."
Just as the moment settled between you two, Wade suddenly jumped up, startling everyone. "Wait! One last round! We can't end game night without one final showdown."
Tony groaned, already halfway out of his seat. "Wade, it's late. And I think we've done enough—"
"No!" Wade insisted dramatically, waving his arms. "It's tradition! And by tradition, I mean something I just made up. The Ultimate Battle: Avengers Pictionary!"
"God, no," Clint muttered, but it was too late. Wade was already tearing open a random box from Tony's game collection, pulling out a whiteboard and markers.
"Alright, alright," Natasha sighed. "One round, Wade. One."
Wade grinned and tossed the marker at Logan, who caught it midair with practiced ease. "You, Logan! You’re up first!"
Logan glanced at the marker, clearly unamused, then at you. "Pictionary, really?"
You shrugged with a grin. "Rules are rules. Besides, I wanna see how good your art skills are."
With a small grunt of resignation, Logan stood and moved to the whiteboard, glancing briefly at the card Wade handed him. His eyes narrowed slightly, and then, without a word, he began to draw.
At first, the lines were slow, hesitant, but as the seconds ticked by, Logan’s rough sketch started taking shape. There was a figure—a man, with claws and an iconic stance.
Tony leaned forward, grinning. "Oh, this one's obvious."
But before anyone could guess, Wade leapt up. "It’s me! Deadpool! No, wait, it’s—"
"Logan," you cut in with a smirk, recognizing the stance. "It's him. Wolverine."
Logan stopped drawing, looked back at the group, and gave a small, satisfied nod. "Yep."
The room erupted into laughter, and Tony threw his hands up. "Okay, that's it. Game night over. Logan wins."
Logan shook his head, placing the marker down. "This was ridiculous."
"Ridiculously fun," Wade chimed in, unbothered by Logan’s usual gruff demeanor.
As the night wrapped up for real this time, you leaned against Logan once more, feeling the warmth of his presence amidst the laughter and camaraderie around you. Sure, game night had been chaotic, but in the end, it was just another reminder that no matter how strange or dysfunctional, this was your family.
And Logan? Well, he was officially part of it now, too.

Once upon a Monday night after patrol...
Peter (swinging in through the window in the spidey suit, taking his mask off): Mr. Stark! Mr. Stark! Guess what! Guess what! Guess what!
Tony (who is in the middle of fixing Dum-E paused his tinkering at the whoosh, lips twitching to a smirk which he hid by drinking coffee): What, what?
Peter (beaming so wide): I made three friends today! Well four if you count the elusive one who approached me but shied away from the others. I named them Stephy, Stacey, Gwen and Michie!
Tony: Aha, and what are they this time? Birds? Bees? Iguanas?
Peter (still smiling, brings out a phone to show him a photo): They're cats Mr. Stark! And they're so cute, I love them so much! See. One white, one cream, one grey, one black. They're all cat colors!
Tony (shuffles the kid's hair): Hm-hm. Nice going Underoos. Looks like a menagerie.
Peter (suddenly goes shy): Uhm, could we- I mean if it isn't too much, sir, and only if it isn't! Err, could we maybe, if it's alright with you, go to the petting shop for my birthday?
Tony (felt his eyebrows rising automatically, looking at the camera, knowing Friday is already making a list of pet stores he could acquire): You want a pet? Is that your wish?
Peter (looks down): Ahm, no, I just...ahm, I just thought it'd be fun to pet some cats and dogs with you. It'd be a memorable experience, but uhm, you don't have to if you're busy or if...if you'd rather not. No pressure Mr. Stark! I mean, I just thought I'd ask.
Tony (face softening into a smile): Of course. Tell you what, meet me outside your apartment 10AM tom. We'll get breakfast, go to the pet shop and then the other three places I planned to take you to.
Peter (eyes widen): Really? You'd spend the day with me Mr. Stark? But aren't you busy or something?
Tony: Nope. Not at all. All free for my favorite spiderling.
Peter (is unable to hide his excitement and went for a hug): Thanks Mr. Stark!!
Tony (finds himself squeezed by his favorite half arachnid child, not really complaining and patting his kid in return): There, there, Underoos. There, there.
.
.
Later, several people will receive a meeting cancellation and request to reschedule.
President Elis, Nick Fury, Steve Rogers and the entire board of Stark Industries.
And when they reach out to Pepper Potts to ask what the heck, her polite and professional answer would be simple and concise.
"Code S," she would say, and they would all perk up into a knowing smile, understanding and accepting the code for what it is.
Code S. Reserved for one specific boy from Queens who happens to be Friday's, every Stark employee's and every affiliate's and partner's top priority over everything as per the mandate from Tony Stark himself. Everything else will be put next in line if the code is triggered.
There's even a video/threat attachment to the email to discourage anyone who dares disobey or violate the terms and agreement.
Officially, it stands for Code Superior. In front of Tony and Peter, the avengers sometimes call it Code Spider-man, even if Peter has no idea about the mandate and signed agreement that anyone who needs Tony Stark/Iron-Man to work with or for them has to sign. But they all knew it meant something else anyway.
Code S, in Friday's coding and among Tony's closest relations, could only stand for one thing. Code Son. A spot unofficially but exclusively reserved for one clueless Peter Benjamin Parker.

Last advent fic, which brings us to twelve. I had hoped for more, but glad to have even got these. <3 I’ll get round to the comments - but for those that have thank you so much for them and coming along for the ride.
.
Tumblr media
“It’s Christmas, Nat,” Tony hovers, his faceplate off, even though the rest of the suit is on.
“Why are you out here?”
Natasha looks back into the room where the rest of the avengers and the rag tag group of everyone else looks in various stages of sleepiness.
“Why are you out here?”
She tries to deflect the question. She didn’t see him leave or even don the iron man suit. The night is almost time to say it’s morning and she loves that Christmas has been, despite its hiccups, a good day.
Tony holds her gaze.
He knows if he waits long enough, she’ll say something.
She hates that he knows that about her.
His repulsers are loud in the night, the sound of them burning to hold him afloat feels louder that everyone is sleepy and she tells him as such.
For once, he doesn’t take the bait.
She knows he’s dying to tell her that it’s not as loud as it once was, or that it isn’t actually fuel that is burning but the elements of something or other.
But he doesn’t.
She must seem more melancholy that she feels.
Natasha looks at him.
Tony sets himself down.
The suit opens and he steps out, then sits next to her.
The edge of the building seems a good as place as any, the danger of falling off doesn’t seem like much when, just the week before she’d fallen off a much higher building and managed to swing across to an open window to save herself the drop.
Clint had net arrows.
Steve jumped from buildings, and Tony could fly.
She was okay despite what had happened.
Tony moves an inch closer.
So uncharacteristically quiet, she feels the need to break the silence.
“Been working on this with the therapist?”
He gives her a look.
“You’ve been hacking files?”
She smirks.
“That’s your deal, isn’t it?”
He smirks back.
The silence this time is comfortable, but still he waits.
“Have you ever made a decision that you don’t want to?”
Her voice is quiet, but Tony is listening.
His stomach drops at the implication of her words.
“What.. Do you mean?”
She smiles easily, and he knows it’s fake.
“Never mind.”
Natasha stands, holds out her hand and helps him up.
The suit stands idle, and she motions to it.
“What about him?”
Tony looks.
“Sentry mode,” he commands.
“He’ll keep watch,” he assures.
Natasha leads the way back to the party.
“Nat, wait,” Tony calls, just as she’s about to step through the threshold to where everyone else is chatting, the television is playing quietly.
To her credit, she does, allows him to catch up, and then, uncharacteristically hugs him.
“Don’t worry about me,” she whispers in his ear.
“I just have to set some things right.”
Tony holds on a little tighter.
“Don’t go alone,” he whispers back.
Natasha parts from his embrace, and gives him a knowing look.
Then, puts a hand to her lips, and heads to where Clint is standing at the bar.

Warnings: Descriptions of violence. Descriptions of injuries. Language. Mentions of Y/N and Y/N/N (=your nickname). My poor attempts at being funny.
Word Count: 3.6K
A/N: It took me a fucking long time to write this, I hope I did the airport scene justice. Here's to hoping the next chapters don't take me as long to write! I did my best, enjoy!

You get to the 6th level of the parking garage at the Leipzig/Halle airport and Steve parks next to a van and you all get out.
Steve gets closer to the van, followed by Sam while you stay behind with Bucky, both of you leaning on the car as you stand on the passenger’s side to be able to see over the car because you’re just that short.
You hear a little snicker from Bucky and look at him with your eyes narrowed as he seems amused by the sight but doesn’t say anything. Your attention goes back to the van as Clint loudly opens the side door.
“What timezone is this?” Scott asks, clearly disoriented as he gets out.
“Come on.” Clint encourages him and pushes him slightly towards Steve. “Come on.”
Scott walks to Steve and shakes his hand with an amazed look. “Captain America.”
“Mr. Lang.” Steve politely says as he shakes his hand.
“It’s an honor.” He says in awe. “I’m shaking your hand too long.” You try your best not to laugh as Scott fangirls over Steve.
“Wow! This is awesome!” He turns and sees Wanda and, in the same cheery voice, says “I know you, too. You’re great!”
Then he turns back to Steve and feels his shoulders saying “Jeez.” and you can’t help but giggle, seeing the scene and everybody’s reactions that go from amused to confused while Scott continues talking.
“Ah, look, I wanna say, I know you know a lot of super people, so… thinks for thanking of me” He says and you giggle more while looking at Bucky to make sure you heard right and his face is as confused as you feel. You turn back to Scott as he says, “Hey, man!”
Sam tries to play it cool by saying “What’s up, Tic Tac?”
“Uh, good to see you.” Scott says, seeming a little confused at the nickname but deciding to blow past it. “Look, what happened last time when I-”
“It was a great audition, but it’ll…” Sam interrupts him, shaking his hand with a chuckle. “It’ll never happen again.”
“It was hilarious!” You comment somewhat loudly and everyone turns to you, Sam glaring while Scott giggles quietly as you wink at him and wave at Wanda and Clint.
“They tell you what we’re up against?” Steve brings everyone’s attention back on the matter at hand before you and Sam start bickering.
“Something about some… psycho-assassins?” Scott says innocently and you keep in your laugh, hoping Bucky is not offended by Scott’s description of the Winter Soldiers.
“We're outside the law on this one. So, if you come with us, you're a wanted man.” Steve warns him.
“Yeah, well, what else is new?” Scott says casually and you grin. Dude is pretty cool.
“We should get moving.” Bucky says.
“We got a chopper lined up.” Clint says to the group, just as the PA starts announcing something in German, which you fortunately understand.
“Dies ist eine Notsituation." You frown. Emergency? “Alle Passagiere müssen den Flughafen sofort evakuieren.”
You’re about to translate when Bucky beats you to it. “They're evacuating the airport.”
“Stark.” Sam says and you roll your eyes. Yeah, that makes sense, that dramatic diva.
“Stark?” Scott echoes, sounding surprised and not in a good way.
“Suit up.” Steve says in his Captain voice and you know better than to disobey.
-
Steve is in his uniform now as he strides through an underpass, then jogs onto a private runway, heading for the chopper when an electro-disabler slams onto the chopper and Steve looks up.
Tony and Rhodey, both in their Iron Man and War Machine suits, descend and land in front of Steve.
You’re in the terminal with Bucky and Sam as the latter scans the airport to find their Quinjet. You can’t really hear what the others are saying, but you can hear Steve through the earpiece.
“Hear me out, Tony.” Steve tries to reason. “That doctor, the psychiatrist, he's behind all of this.”
You see T’Challa leap over a truck and after a moment Steve says “Your highness.”
You can see Tony talking, you assume trying to get Steve to surrender, before you hear Steve again. “You're after the wrong guy.”
Tony says something else you assume to be about Bucky because of what Steve answers back. ”And there are five more super soldiers just like him. I can't let the doctor find them first, Tony. I can't.”
You can see Natasha talk next and then Tony makes a face and you know he’s done, then you can hear him yelling “Underoos!” through Steve’s earpiece.
Suddenly you see a guy in a red onesie swing in and shoot what looks like webs at Steve, stealing his shield and binding his hands before landing on top of a truck a little wobbly.
You furrow your eyebrows and look at Sam to your right but he’s busy with Redwing so you look at Bucky next to him and he looks just as confused as you do. He meets your eyes and raises an eyebrow in question but you simply shrug and look back at the scene when you hear Steve say. “You've been busy.”
Tony tries his hardest to reason with Steve while, as planned, the Captain patiently listens to him while Sam looks for their Quinjet. “You did that when you signed.” He answers calmly at whatever Tony said.
You can see Tony pleading with Steve, and you almost feel bad but are snapped out of it when Sam finally talks. “We found it. Their Quinjet’s in hangar five, north runway.”
You see Steve raise his arms and one of Clint’s arrows flies through the air and breaks the webs on Steve’s hands, freeing him. “Alright, Lang.” Steve says and Scott enlarges, taking the shield from the guy with the red pajamas with a flip and giving it back to Steve.
“I believe this is yours, Captain America.” Scott says and you chuckle. Dude has a serious man crush.
The two men next to you look confused at what is so amusing, and you merely roll your eyes and say “come on.” as the three of you start running.
As you’re going through the terminal, you see the Spider-man dude stick to the glass outside and all three of your attention goes to him.
“What the hell is that?” Bucky asks as you run.
“Everyone’s got a gimmick now.” Sam sounds really annoyed and obviously you have to tease him.
“That’s a person, not a metal bird, Wilson!” You say.
“Don’t bring Redwing into this!” He yells back, glaring at you as he runs.
“You brought Redwing into this!” You snark back and, before Sam can say anything, Spiderman breaks through the glass towards the three of you, Sam tries to protect you and that causes you both to go crashing into the wall.
You can see Bucky throwing a punch but Spiderman catches his fist easily, shocking all three of us while shouting “You have a metal arm?! That is awesome, dude!”
Sam goes flying into Spiderman and takes him away, while you approach Bucky.
“Did that sound like a kid to you?” you ask him, still looking after Sam and Spiderman.
“Doesn’t matter. Let’s go.” He says starting to go after the other two.
“Matters a little…” You mumble while following Bucky.
You can hear Wanda and Clint talking through the comms, to Tony you assume when Wanda says “You locked me in my room.” and then you hear Clint say “made you look.” just as you see through the window all the cars flying down thanks to Wanda’s magic.
Spiderman wings through the rafters in the terminal, chasing Sam who flies backwards firing shots. Spiderman stops on a high beam and just then Bucky throws a giant piece of metal at him.
You can hear Spiderman yell back “Hey buddy, I think you lost this!” before throwing back the piece of metal, causing Bucky to cover you with his metal arm while it flies back, thankfully missing you both.
Sam takes the opportunity to kick Spiderman and try to bring him down, but Spiderman swings again and webs Sam’s wings, which sends him crashing to the floor. As he gets up, Spiderman webs his hands to the railing behind him and then sticks to a column and starts nerding out about Sam’s wings as you run to help Sam, Bucky right behind you.
You’re too focused on Sam to notice Spiderman swinging towards him at the same time that you get to him, luckily Bucky wraps his arms around you as all three of you crush into the railing and down to the floor on the level below.
As you all land Spiderman quickly webs Sam’s arms together, Bucky’s metal arm to the floor and then your arms, sticking you to Bucky since he was still holding you with one arm as you basically landed on him.
While Spiderman talks over you, you can faintly hear Sam messing around with his gear and you hope he’s doing something useful. Just as Spiderman is about to shoot webs again, Redwing attaches to his wrist and drags him off.
After a beat of silence Bucky says “You couldn’t have done that earlier?” to which Sam answers “I hate you.” and you roll your eyes and say “God, you two are children.”
You do your best to grab your pocket knife and, after a moment of struggling, you succeed then cut the webs off of you and Bucky with a little difficulty. You get up and cut the webs off of Bucky’s metal arm before going to Sam and helping him out of the webs too.
Your heads all snap to the window when you hear the sound of an explosion and can see it just as you hear Scott through the comms saying “Oh, man. I thought it was a water truck. Uh… sorry.”
You frown and turn to Sam and Bucky. “That can’t be good. Let’s go.” The three of you run out of the terminal as fast as you can and when you get outside you meet up with Steve, Scott, Clint and Wanda, all of you running towards the Quinjet.
“Come on!” Steve yells, but your run is interrupted when suddenly a yellow laser makes a line in front of you and you’re all stopped in your tracks. A fucking laser. You look up and see Vision hovering over you.
“Captain Rogers. I know you believe what you're doing is right.” He starts while the rest of Tony’s team gathers around him. Tony flies in while holding Natasha, Rhoday flies T’Challa and Spiderman swings down with one of Dora Milaje, T’Challa’s personal guards, that you saw at the FBI bunker and you think her name is Ayo. “But for the collective good you must surrender now.” Vision finishes talking and there is a moment of silence where you all just look at the opponent directly in front of you, which in your case is Ayo.
“What do we do, Cap?” Sam asks.
“We fight.” Is all Steve says and you hesitate for a second looking at him and then at Ayo.
“Anybody wants to switch?” You ask while looking at your teammates, some look amused but Steve kind of glares at you. “No? Alrighty, then.” You look back ahead as you all start walking, then jogging faster and faster until you’re full on running towards the opposite team.
Tony, Rhodey, Sam, Wanda and Vision take flight and then the first sound that can be heard is Tony’s fist meeting Steve’s shield.
Clint shoots an arrow at Vision that dodges it, Sam bumps into Rhodey mid-air, Scott shrinks and jumps on Natasha, Wanda shoots her magic at Peter while he shoots webs at her and T’Challa straight up jumps onto Bucky.
You lose track of what everyone else is doing once you come face to face with Ayo, who loses no time hitting you with her spear but you luckily dodge it, throwing a punch of your own that she easily avoids. The only thing you can tell is that Nat and Clint are near you fighting, and so are Bucky and T’Challa.
You take out your extendable baton, glad that Clint suggested it, and try to hit Ayo repeatedly, but you miss everytime. You’re getting frustrated when you finally land a hit to her cheek and grin, but you quickly regret it when she kicks you hard on the ribs, sending you flying back.
Ayo jumps on you and raises her spear right over your face, but before she can hit you Wanda sends her flying back far away from you.
You don’t have time to thank her when she’s throwing Natasha off of Clint and into a metal container.
“Geez, Wanda, go easy on them.” You tell her and she gives you a pointed look, before looking at Clint and saying “You were pulling your punches” before walking away.
You and Clint exchange a look but you get distracted by T’Challa throwing Bucky into a container near you. You get into action right away and just as T’Challa is about to claw at Bucky, you push the supersoldier out of the way and you both go stumbling to the side while Wanda throws T’Challa into a big metal container far away from you.
You and Bucky roll a little and, when you stop, you end on top of him. He looks up at you and whispers “Thank you.”
“Anytime, Soldier.” You wink at him and get up, helping him up too. Wanda joins you with an amused look on her face.
“Still think we should go easy on them?” She asks smugly, and you merely roll your eyes.
You’re thankfully distracted by Spiderman knocking Steve off his feet but when you go to help him, you’re intercepted by Natasha.
As you start doing hand-to-hand combat with her, you can hear Scott calling Clint “Arrow Guy” and you almost chuckle, but don’t let it distract you because you know Natasha could seriously hurt you, although it seems like she’s going as easy on you as you are on her.
“Nothing’s changed between us, right Tasha?” You ask, concerned about your friendship as you keep fighting, though it almost feels like any other sparring match you’ve ever had.
She laughs and nods. “Nothing, Y/N/N”.
You grin at the nickname and say “Good” before kicking her a little harder than you’ve ever had and sending her flying back, then you run to Steve and get to him as he points at himself and says. “Brooklyn.”
You frown at him and then look at Spiderman with one of those giant metal walkways people use to get to the planes and your eyes widen.
“That seems a little excessive.” You say, looking back at Steve.
“He’ll be fine.” Steve says shortly and starts jogging away, signaling to you to follow him, which you reluctantly do.
You and Steve are running when you hear Scott say “Uh-oh” through the comms and you frown. “Are you okay, Scott?”
You can hear him panting freaking out, saying “Oh boy. Whoa!”
You and Steve are joined by Bucky as you’re hiding behind some containers and you’re about to ask Scott if he’s okay again when Bucky talks and you turn to him. “We gotta go. That guy's probably in Siberia by now.” You can't help but think how fucking blue his eyes are.
“We gotta draw out the flyers.” Steve says, snapping you out of it and you make up your mind.
“I'll take Vision.” You tell him “You two get to the jet.”
You know Steve’s about to argue when Sam cuts in “No, you get to the jet! All three of you!” He says through the comms. “The rest of us aren't getting out of here.”
“As much as I hate to admit it, if we're gonna win this one, some of us might have to lose it.” Clint chimes in.
You and Steve look at each other and it’s like Sam can sense your hesitation as he says “This isn't the real fight, guys.”
“Alright, Sam, what's the play?” Steve says, his eyes darting between you and Bucky.
“We need a diversion, something big.” he says and you try to think about what you could do.
“I got something kind of big, but I can't hold it very long.” Scott offers “On my signal, run like hell. And if I tear myself in half… don't come back for me.”
You frown and look at Steve and Bucky who seem just as confused as you do. “He's gonna tear himself in half?” Bucky asks.
“You're sure about this, Scott?” Steve asks into his comm.
“I do it all the time. I mean once… in a lab. Then I passed out.” He tries and fails to reassure you.
“That doesn’t make me feel better, like at all.” You say looking from Bucky to Steve, who seem to agree.
You can hear Scott mumbling “I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the BOSS!” to himself and then suddenly he grows into a fucking giant of 60-65 feet.
“Jesus fucking Christ.” You say almost in shock.
“I guess that's the signal.” Steve says and starts running towards the jet, you and Bucky following closely.
You can hear Sam saying “Way to go, Tic Tac!” as you run, going past Scott, who stops T’Challa from following you by kicking a bus into him, then Rhodey almost gets to you, but he’s stopped by Wanda.
The three of you are getting closer to the jet when a tower starts falling over the entrance, courtesy of Vision, but Wanda keeps it up with her magic for you.
As you pick up your pace and approach it, you’re stopped by a spear landing right in front of Bucky, missing his foot by a centimeter.
Ayo is about to jump on Bucky but before either him or Steve can do anything to stop her, you throw yourself on her, sending her stumbling back and to the ground, enough distance between you that you have the opportunity to look behind you at Bucky, Steve just behind him with a look that’s both impressed and shocked at your reflexes.
“I got this. Go.” You tell the two men even though your eyes are fixated on Bucky.
“Are you sure?” he asks you with a hint of worry and you grin.
“It’s nothing I can’t handle, Sergeant.” Steve smirks and nods, moving towards the jet again, but Bucky hesitates. You know Wanda won’t be able to keep the path clear forever so you try to reassure him.
“Go, I’ll be fine. Go!” You yell the last word, which seems to snap him out of it and he turns around with a nod, running at full speed towards the Quinjet.
You turn around just in time to see Ayo running towards you, but this time you’re not fast enough and she sends you falling back. You quickly get up and do your best to keep her occupied while the tower that Wanda was keeping up falls to the ground.
Or, more accurately, you're taking her punches while landing little to none yourself.
Ayo gets distracted for a second when she sees Natasha stunning T’Challa and that’s enough to give you the opportunity to take the upper hand and take her down. Unfortunately you don’t notice how close the two of you are to her spear but then again neither does she.
You see Giant Scott get taken down and, while still holding Ayo down as best as you can, you say worriedly through your comm “Scott? Scott, talk to me, are you okay?” There's a pause while you hold your breath and then he says “Does anyone have any orange slices?” And you let out a breathy laugh, both amused and impressed by his resilience.
In the time it took you to check on Scott, Ayo managed to get a hold of her spear, almost driving it through your arm. Thankfully she misses, though it still leaves a pretty deep cut.
Your eyes widen and as you get off of her she wastes no time to go help T’Challa. You lay down on the ground while holding your arm where the cut is and can see the Quinjet taking off so you let out a relieved sigh.
You sit up and, when you see Vision going to Wanda, you smile and get up to gocheck on Scott.
“You alright, big guy?” You ask him as you approach him with a little bit of a limp and he nods chuckling.
“I am. Are you alright? “ He eyes your arm and you nod. “I’m fine.”
Clint approaches you and wraps an arm around you to help you stay up, knowing you’re not gonna ask for help but he can clearly see by your quickly paling face that you need it.
You look towards the Quinjet and your eyes widen when you see Rhodey quickly falling down, Tony and Sam both diving to help him. “Shit…”
You all watch in shock as he hits the ground, Tony lands right beside him and then Sam lands a little further away. You can hear Sam saying “I’m sorry.” right before Tony shoots him and he goes flying backwards.
“SAM!” You yell and try to start making your way to him even if he’s far, but Clint holds you back with his arm around your waist, Scott’s hand on your uninjured arm.
You hold your breath until you hear the faint “I’m okay” in your ear, followed by Sam’s grunts and you relax, mumbling “Thank fucking god…”
You look around the airport, all the destruction and the people you still love despite it all.
Steve and Bucky made it out of here, so you won. At what cost though?
You can just hope this was all worth it.

Peter idolized Mysterio extremely fast, because Beck knew exactly how to manipulate the kid.
He watched him, did his research. He knew who what Peter needed.
Tony Stark.
The entire world was asking Spider-Man if he was the new Tony Stark. Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, all gone. the Avengers had been ripped apart when they saved the world, and now civilians were scared. Who would protect them if things like that were out there? Spider-Man was the only one standing up and still fighting for his city, he was mentored by Iron Man. Surely he would step up.
Peter felt the pressure, the questions. Even Fury was trying to push him to be the next Tony, fulfill his duty as an Avenger.
But Beck stood up for him.
"He's not bored, he's just thinking about how you kidnapped him"
He understands Peter wants to enjoy time with his friends, with MJ.
"You're not a jerk for wanting a normal life kid"
Everyone else was adamant though.
"Stark chose you. He made you an Avenger. I need that, the world needs that. Maybe Stark was wrong."
Here Fury is telling him that not stepping up would be failing the world, failing Stark. Putting words into the mouth of Peter's dead mentor.
Everyone knows that Tony Stark is Peter's weak spot-
"Tony did a lot for me so, I owe it to him. To everybody"
But Beck is always a step ahead.
He sets himself up as the knight in shining arming, showing up right when the world needs him, after all the heroes had fought and died and disappeared. (Iron Man was the first superhero the world had seen since Captain America. Peter worshipped him since he was a little kid. He burst into Peter's life, gave him an incredible suit, and cleaned up his messes).
He lifts Peter up when he's down. "Don't ever apologize for being the smartest in the room" "a part of me wants me to tell you to turn around, run away from all this". (Tony was the only one smart enough to understand how smart Peter was, too. Told him to stay away from the big stuff and help the little guy. He followed Mr. Stark onto that spaceship after being told to go home over and over).
He becomes a mentor. "It's really nice to have someone to talk to about superhero stuff, y'know" Peter tells him. It's painfully reminiscent of being 15, blowing up the phone with texts and voicemails because Mr. Stark was the only one who knew his identity and knew what it was like to be a hero. The way he'd look at Tony with eager eyes every time they were face to face, just happy to be seen. He'd had to fight so hard for Tony to listen to him, and losing it was... harder than he realized.
So here Beck is, a better hero than Spider-Man, more supportive than Fury- and then he asks the perfect question:
"What do you want, Peter?"
He lets the kid imagine a better life, a life where he isn't the next Iron Man. He looks up at Beck and sees his escape, sees someone far more qualified. Not only would it be an out for Peter, but the world would simply be better off with Mysterio.
"the world needs the next Iron Man, it needs to be an adult with some experience, who's good like Tony Stark, like you"
Everyone made it so easy for Beck- they broke Peter's self-esteem down till he was certain he couldn't be the next Iron Man. Denied him at every turn a piece of a normal life, any balance. Everyone was so desperate for a hero that no one questioned when Beck strolled in, charmed everyone, and proved himself the only solution.
Peter is 16. He's a kid. He lost so many years already; with his parents, his uncle, with gaining super powers. He lost Tony, his support system. He's desperate for an adult to take this burden from him.
For the next Tony Stark.
So he takes Edith, the physical symbol of his responsibility, and hands it to the nearest capable adult.
I just wanted to be like you!
And I wanted you to be better.
Peter Parker is not Tony Stark.

Lottie is so excited when Duckie joins the team! She makes sure Duckie feels welcomed and she introduces the entire team to her.
Her description of everyone is very specific and super funny!
She's like - Uncle Tony has a lotta money! He is Iron man, he wears a red suit, he looks like a coca cola can!
Uncle Steeb -He my favourite! He's so pretty and kind, he gives me piggy back rides and bringse snacks all the time!
And many more introductions of the entire team😂😭
This happens during the time that Sugar is being held by Hydra.
Introductions
Lottie had been intrigued by Bruce's new assistant. As the resident friend maker, she made it her mission to introduce herself and everyone else to you. Yes, she had met you briefly when Bruce had to run some tests on her but she didn't know you. In typical Charlotte fashion, she decided to follow you around for the day.
"Hi." Lottie sneaks up on you. Her quiet steps and soft voice pulled you from what you were focused on. "Can be your 'ssistant today?"
"Oh well," You looked around for Bruce but of course he wasn't there. Then you looked back down at the child that was staring up at you expectantly. Her bright blue eyes full of hope. "I'm not sure if you should be in here."
"No is kay. Am he-uh all the time."
You looked down at her again and noticed she had a lab coat with her name embroidered on it, safety glasses and her hair pulled back. She smiled while holding her pink teddy bear which had a matching lab coat and glasses.
"I uh-I guess."
Charlotte jumped in excitement and. "Am best 'assistant ev-uh."
****
“Pipsqueak what are you doing here?” Tony asks Lottie as he walked into Bruce’s lab.
“Hi uncle Tony. Am being a ‘ssistant.” She says with a smile before turning to you. “You meet uncle Tony? He so nice, he buys pwesents, an has pawties, and sometimes is a bo-bot.”
“I’m a bo-bot?”
“Yeah, a wed one. Is so cute.”
“I’m not supposed to be cute. At least not in my iron man suits.” Tony defends himself as Lottie stands on her chair.
“Uncle Tony is cute when not a bo-bot, too.”
“That’s more like it, pipsqueak.” Tony grabs Lottie.
You smile at their interaction. Lottie was certainly a character but you could see why she was so loved.
“You know what pip? You should introduce Y/N to the whole team.” Tony smirks when you glare at him.
Other than Tony and Bruce you really hadn’t interacted with any of the Avengers, except for Steve when you found him in your lab. Tony had tried to get you to join their little get togethers and dinners but you always refused. Now with seeing Charlotte so excited you were sure you couldn’t say no.
****
Charlotte pulled you along the hallway. The voices of the team getting louder the closer you got. This was not what you had planned for the day. You kept sending Tony glares but it just made him chuckle. Finally Charlotte lets you go and runs towards Steve. Her arms wrap around his neck and she presses her cheek against his.
“Habe new fwiend, Steebie.” Lottie announces excitedly as she points to you. “Say hi.”
Steve looks up to find you awkwardly standing by the entrance of the common room. A small pout on your lips and your arms crossed over your chest. It was obvious you didn’t want to be here. Still, he sends a smile and a wave your way. And at Lottie’s insistence he walks your way.
“Dis is Steebie. Is so nice an sweet. Steebie paints so nice. Is so stwong.” She lists all of her favorite things about Steve. She leans forwards and cups her mouth with her hand like she’s going to tell you a secret. “An is so old but still cute.”
“Hey, I can hear you.” Steve huffs playfully causing Lottie to laugh.
“Steebie is my best guy.”
“Hello Steve.”
“Hi.” Steve gives you a bashful smile.
“Steebie, wanna be down pease.” Lottie points at the floor and Steve puts her down. “C’mon.” Lottie grabs your hand and pulls you further into the room.
Everyone’s eyes are on you as Lottie pulls you further into to the room. She stops in front of the next person.
“Dis is Nat.” Lottie says as she pulls herself on the couch and onto Nat’s lap.
“Hi, Lots of love. What are you getting up to?”
“Auntie Nat, habe new fwiend.” She motions towards you. She smiles up at you before she starts her introduction. “Auntie Nat is so pwetty and smaht, we habe spa days and seepovers. But she kick your ask if you is bad.”
Everyone starts laughing. Lottie keeps going along the room. Every team member is excited to hear what she has to say about them.
Sam was next since he was sitting next to Nat.
“Uncle Sammy is so funny. An he boy pwetty.”
“What is boy pretty?” Sam asks, a smile tugging at his lips.
“Lots do you mean handsome?”
“Yeah, handsome.” Lottie nods her head. “Sammy is handsome. An can fly. But dada say he has biwdbwain.”
“I do not have a birdbrain.” Sam huffs.
“Is kay.” Lottie pats his forearm and moves on.
“Uncle Cint is sneaky. He wooks wike Cupid.” Lottie giggles to herself. “An he teached me how to talk with my hands. But sometimes he no wikes to wisten.”
“I’m teaching her sign language.” Clint explains before adding that he uses a hearing aid.
“Dis is Vision. Is so smaht and is a bo-bot all the time. An he is auntie Wanda’s boyfwiend.”
Vision gives a courteous hello. Then Charlotte is moving on to the next person. The team is very entertained to hear how she sees them.
“Dis is auntie Wanda. She makes wed magic. But it’s kay, auntie Wanda’s not spooky just a witch.”
“Hello Wanda.”
“Welcome to the team.” Wanda replies with a smile.
“You know unlce Buce, wight?” Lottie looks up and you nod. She leans in and cups her hand to tell you a secret. Everyone else also leans in to hear her. “No makes him mad. He goes wike dis…” Lottie bares her teeth and growls while she lifts her fists in the air and shakes them.
The rest of the adults are laughing uncontrollably at Lottie’s portrayal of the Hulk. You cover your mouth with your hand to avoid laughing at your boss. After everyone is done Lottie grabs your hand and pulls you back to the door.
“Kay bye.” Lottie waves.
“Wait, where are you going?”
“Am going to show new fwiends to Y/N.” Lottie says happily.
Unfortunately you don’t have to heart to stop Lottie from going around and introducing you to everyone she knows. Steve takes pity on you after 15 minutes and distracts Charlotte with talks about a movie night. That doesn’t stop her for long though because the next day she’s ready to introduce you to everyone else that she knows within the tower.

My Greatest Creation Is You
Pairings: Tony Stark x Stark!Reader (siblings), Howard Stark x Stark!Reader (best friends)
Genre: A bickering fluffy look back at the good times, with slight angst
Summary:  Tony realizes he never really knew his father. Thankfully he has a box of Howard Starks's stuff and a video message from beyond the grave to help him out.
(These scenes incorporate y/n, codename—Static, into the pre-existing story as a character without making drastic changes to the plot or mythos. All the major plot points from the MCU remain in place with the addition of the reader as Static, who is not only a Stark but also enhanced. Whatever events from the canon aren’t mentioned, take place without much change.)
Warnings: Swearing, Mentions of Death, Mentions of Past Trauma.
a/n: read Age Of Ultron for more information on Y/n's backstory
sidenote: I just missed Tony a lot, ok?

“That thing in your chest is based on unfinished technology,” Fury tells him as they sit next to each other, listening to the sound of bird chip away at what once used to be his center table. They’re at his place, it’s pretty banged up from the party, the windows are all gone, he can hear the waves beneath them, hell, he can even hear the birds chirping.
“No, it was finished,” Tony argues. “It has never been particularly effective until I miniaturized it and put it in my—”
“No,” Fury interjects. “Howard said the arc reactor was the stepping stone to something greater. He was about to kick off an energy race that was gonna dwarf the arms race. He was on to something big, something so big that it was gonna make the nuclear reactor look like a triple-A battery.”
This is the first he’s hearing of this.
He begins pouring himself a glass of water. “Just him, or Anton Vanko in on this too?”
“Anton Vanko is the other side of that coin. Anton saw it as a way to get rich,” Fury tells him.
“I told you he got deported, what I didn’t tell you was that Howard was the one who got him deported,” Y/n chimes in from where she stands in front of them, smoking a cigarette while leaning against what used to be a wall. “Once he got back, the Russians found out he couldn’t deliver so they shipped his ass off to Siberia after which he spent the next 20 years in a vodka-fuelled rage.” She exhales letting out the smoke.
“Not quite the environment you want to raise a kid in, the son you had the misfortune of crossing paths with in Monaco,” Fury adds.
Ok, got it, he thinks. Irrelevant now, I’ve got bigger fish to fry.
“You told me I hadn’t tried everything. What do you mean I haven’t tried everything? What haven’t I tried?” Tony asks.
“He said that—” Fury points towards with a glass in hand as he continues, “you were the only person with the means and knowledge to finish what he started.”
Well, fuck.
“He said that?” Tony doesn’t believe a single word of it.
“Are you that guy? Hm?” Fury leans in, resting his elbows on his knees but his eyes or well eye remains locked on Tony. “Are you? ‘Cause if you are, then you can solve the riddle of your heart.”
It takes a second for Fury’s words to settle, but when they do, all Tony can do is shake his head slowly in what would be considered something similar disagreement or even maybe shock? “I don’t know where you get your information, but he wasn’t my biggest fan.”
“What do you remember about your dad? Huh?” There’s a challenge in Fury’s words.
“He was cold, he was calculating. He never told me he loved me. He never even told me he liked me, so it’s a little tough for me to digest when you’re telling me he said the whole future was riding on me and he’s passing it down. I don’t get that.” He really fucking doesn’t. “You’re talking about a guy whose happiest day was when he shipped me off to boarding school,” he adds, as he leans back into his chair.
It’s a fucked up day, don’t you think? Tony’s being told Howard Fucking Stark bet the goddamn future on the son he couldn’t wait to get rid of.
“That’s not true,” Fury counters. His words fall out easy as if the years and years of trauma Howard gave him were not valid. As if whatever he lived through with his father wasn’t all that real. The world has always seen his father in a much different light than he ever did. He made peace with that. Howard Stark was a completely different than Tony’s dad but FUCK if it doesn’t grind his gears when he hears Fury spew this shit.
The future riding on me? Bull fucking shit!
“Well, then, clearly you knew my dad better than I did,” Tony half-concedes, wanting the topic to be over.
“As a matter of fact, I did,” Fury comments, putting his glass down on the makeshift table in front of them. The moment the words fall out of his mouth, a couple agents along with Agent Coulson and Natali—fuck! No. God!—Natasha Romanoff walk up in front of them. “He was one of the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Fury says that like that wasn’t a fucking bombshell he just dropped. The asshole is all nonchalant, looking down at his watch, absolutely uncensored about how he just broke Tony’s fucking brian a little bit.
The agents drop the crate infront of him.
“What?” Tony asks Fury, confounded. “WHAT?” He looks over at Y/n, who looks even more zen than Fury. “WHAT THE FUCK?”
Fury gets up off the chair “I got a two o’clock.”
“Wait, wait, wait, wait! What’s this?” He asks, pointing at the crate.
“Okay, you’re good, right?” Fury asks, ready to walk away.
Tony’s up too. “No, I’m not good.”
“You got this? Right? Right?” Fury asks, pointing over at the crate.
“Got what?” Tony’s fucking lost. “I don’t even know what I’m supposed to get.”
“Natasha will remain a floater at Stark with her cover intact,” Fury informs him as he puts on his jacket. “You remember Agent Coulson, right?”
“Yeah,” is all he can say because he knows he’s not getting any more answers out of that guy.
Fury begins walking away, but stops for a second, turning to face him again, “Oh! And Tony, remember, I got my eye on you.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s fucking hilarious.
Natalie/Agent Romanoff/Natasha—We will—we’ll just call her Agent Romanoff from hereon out. Anyway, so, Agent Romanoff says, “We’ve disabled all communications. No contact with the outside world. Good luck.” And with that she leaves as well.
Turning to Coulson, Tony begins, “Please. First thing, I need a little bodywork. I’ll put in a little time at the lab. If we could send one of your goon squad down to The Coffee Bean, Cross Creek, for a Starbucks run, or something like that, that’d be nice.”
“I’m not here for that,” Coulson’s reply is simple. “I’ve been authorised by Director Fury to use any means necessary to keep you on-premises. If you attempt to leave or play any games, I will tase you and watch Supernanny while you drool into the carpet. Okay?”
Fuck me! “I think I got it, yeah,” he replies instead.
“Enjoy your evening’s entertainment,” Coulson comments. He turns over to Y/n then, “Ms. Stark, good to see you again.”
She smiles then. “Hey Phill, how’ve you been?” She asks as she pulls out the cigarette from between her lips, pulling a foot up and rubbing the butt across the soul of her boots, releasing pretty yellow embers. Pocketing the now extinguished butt she walks over to the men.
“I’ve been great. You?” She just passes a pointed look over at Tony as a response and Coulson has the audacity to smile. “Fair enough. You need anything?”
“A pack of menthols would be great,” she answers with a smile.
“On it,” Coulson nods, walking off.
And Tony cannot help but stare.
“What?” She asks, looking absolutely innocent.
Rolling his eyes, he replies, “Fuck the fuck off, Stark.” And that somehow makes her chuckle.
She waves him over, “Come on,” she says pointing at the crate. Understanding her instruction, both of them pick up the damn thing and begin dragging in downstairs.
It’s a little while later when they’re in the basement that Tony is hit with the realization that he never really knew his father at all.
He’s looking through the crate, it’s all stuff that seems fairly out of place but somewhat useful? He’s not sure. There are blue prints for the arc reactor, newspaper articles, videos reels and such.
He decides to play one of the reels. It seems to be the outtakes from the video of his father that he showcased at the Stark Expo earlier.
“Everything is achievable through technology. Better living, robust heath,” his father speaks on the video tape, while Tony tries flicking through a notebook and notes down some of the calculations he thinks might come in handy. “—and for the first time in human history, the possibility of world peace. I’m Howard Stark, and everything you’ll need for the future can be found right here. City of the Future? City of Tomorrow? City of—Hang on” Dad begins to fumble on the screen, redoing the take. “I’m Howard Stark and everything you’ll need in the future can be found right here.” This is fucking stupid, Tony thinks. He’s about to turn off the damn thing when—
“Hold on,” Y/n speaks up from behind him. It startles him a little because he didn’t even know she had entered the room. “You’re gonna miss the best part.”
And yeah, that grabs his attention.
As she walks over to lean on her side against the wall opposite Tony, the video continues.
While Dad keeps talking to the camera, he reconginizes a small child pop up from behind the model and pick up a building with a mischievous smile on his face.
“So, from all of us at Stark Industries, I would like to personally—” Howard turns a little and then seems to finally notice Little Tony. “Tony, what are you doing back there? What is that?” He scolds the kid on screen. “Put that back. Put it back where you got it from. Where’s your sister? Y/n? Y/n!”
And then Y/n walks onto the screen, annoyed.
“I’m right fucking here, Howie! Okay? Can you—can you just—I don’t know, relax maybe?” She looks the same as she does right now. Maybe a new wrinkle or two, but mostly the same, except a lot more pissed. “And don’t fucking yell at him, you asshat!”
“Don’t curse infront of him, Y/n! You know how he is, he’ll pick it up and Maria will kill us both,” Howard reprimands her.
He watches as Y/n walks over to Little Tony, leaning down and dropping a kiss on his head. “Well, then don’t talk to him like that. He’s an inquisitive kid. I mean he’s your kid, what the—” she covers Little Tony’s ears with her hands. “—fuck—” she takes them off, “else were you expecting him to be like?”
His dad just shakes his head. “I’m trying to do something here,” he says, pointing at the camera that’s been rolling.
He can see Y/n rolling her eyes at Howard. “Yeah, yeah. Because this is what he’ll remember years later—not the parts where you kept yelling at him for absolute—” she covers her ears again, “—fucking bullshit—” uncovers them, “—that you seemed to care more about. A1 parenting Howie. Why don’t you write a book about it?”
And clearly, Howard feels some sense of guilt about it all because his head falls. With one hand on his waist and the other resting on the model, he revalutes his word for a few seconds and then looks up. Tony (this Tony, not Little Tony) can see he’s about to say something, wants to say something but before he can, Y/n picks up Little Tony on her shoulder.
“Come on, Stark, we’ll go have our kinda fun and not invite Dad at all,” Y/n says excitedly, making Little Tony giggle.
He watches his dad let out a sigh in defeat.
Then the footage cuts off.
The screen shows a few more outtakes of Howard talking to the camera guy while drinking whiskey or redoing takes.
Tony can’t help himself.
“Why didn’t you tell me Dad founded S.H.I.E.L.D.?” He asks.
Y/n (real Y/n, not the video Y/n) looks over, now leaning on her back, she shrugs. “Wasn’t really pertinent information.”
“Wasn’t pertinent—Are you fucking kidding me?!” Tony’s gonna loose his fucking mind.
“I told you I worked with him!”
Tony can’t help but chuckle. “Now that’s just bullshit!” He’s shouting now, “I thought you meant at Stark Industries!”
“Why the fuck would they need a goddamn spy at Stark Industries??!!” She bites back, standing straight now. She’s shouting too.
“To spy on competitive companies! I don’t know??!!”
“You think Stark Industries needed an expert spy, adept at espionage to keep an eye on their competition?!!” Her hands are flying everywhere. “Is the palladium giving you retroactive brain damage?!”
Frankly? It does seem really stupid on his part to presume that she worked as a spy for Stark Industries. But come on! He wasn’t provided the entire data.
“Oh my god, I get that you’re trying to insult me but that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever,” Tony bites back regardless. “Maybe you’re the one with brain damage.”
She begins walking over to him. “I’ll show you brain damage—”
He gets off the chair, ready to throw down with her. “Yeah, fine, show me, granny—”
Both Stark sibling halt in their position, with hands around each other’s throat, ready to throw punches, when the video recording on the screen calls out to him.
“Tony.” Dad is looking into the camera, sitting atop the model behind him. His previous put together suit gone, all that’s left now is his messy tie and white shirt with rolled up sleeves. “You’re too young to understand this right now, so I thought I would put it on film for you. I built this for you. And someday you’ll realise that it represents a whole lot more than just people’s inventions. It represents my life’s work. This is the key to the future. I’m limited by the technology of my time, but one day you’ll figure this out. And when you do, you will change the world. What is and always will be my greatest creation is you.”
The reel runs out. Screen goes white.
Both the Starks, slowly take their hands off each other and sit down on the floor, facing each other.
After a silence that seems to stretch on for a little too long, Y/n decides to break it.
“How could you think I was a spy for Stark Industries?” She has a small smile on her face.
Tony can’t help but smile too. “I don’t know, man. You’re just… You’re like the box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in my kitchen cupboard. You’re just here, you’re always here, you’ve always been here. I don’t question it.” He shrugs. “I just enjoy having it be there.”
“It's me,” Y/n says, leaning back far enough to support herself with her elbows.
“What?”
“I replace the boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.”
Tony laughs, “Figures.” He shakes his head. “I—I—I think—” He can’t help but laugh again, “I didn’t put much thought behind it, but I kinda just figured that Aunt Peg just handed you to Dad and that was that.”
Nodding her head slowly, she agrees. “That’s kinda exactly what happened. I was this freak of a thing she’d recued on an op, and then yeah, she basically handed me over to Howie.” Her head falls back as she looks up at the ceiling. “It helped that he was probably my best friend in the entire world.”
Tony snorts in amusement. “Didn’t really look like it on the video,” he says, pointing to the screen.
She looks at him then, “After—I guess, after you were born—I don’t know. It got complicated. I expected him to do better by you. And don’t get me wrong, he tried to… but—” Her words drop off.
“But—” He prompts, desperate to know more.
She shrugs. “But it wasn’t good enough, it wasn’t persistent. He could’ve done better, he should have. He knew that.” She shakes her head. “Like I said, it was complicated.” Her head falls back again. “Once you were born you became my favorite person in the entire world and nothing was good enough. I guess—I mean maybe he just didn’t know how to be a dad, you know? He didn’t make for a great dad, but he was still my best friend.”
And yeah, he can understand that.
This man, the man who saved her, gave her a home, founded an organisation with her, for her—opposing him on anything couldn’t have been easy for her. It all does sound fairly complicated.
I guess Howard Stark never had an uncomplicated relationship, did he?
The thought makes him smile.
But then he remembers.
“Still pretty uncool of you, you know? Going behind my back and calling mom,” he says, with a cunning smile.
She looks at him with an unimpressed look. “I called Fury because he was the only guy who could get through to you. You have a habit of overlooking my advice when shit is hitting the fan.”
He nods in understanding. “But you still called mom.”
“I saved you from dying.”
“...by calling mom.”
She kicks him gently with her leg. “Whatever, asshole.”

Hellfire Gala... 2022! I thought I was done with X-books for the Fall of X event, but then I remembered that one of the IIM books had a flashback to 2022's Hellfire Gala, so I read it to see if it was relevant, and actually it was. Also, we get to see Tony and Steve in their (admittedly not great) Hellfire Gala outfits. Anyway! Having now read all the relevant parts of Fall of X, I can conveniently just highlight the stuff that I know is important. So! This is the Hellfire Gala that came BEFORE Fall of X's Hellfire Gala. We open with the world learning that mutants are able to resurrect their own. This news is of great interest to many people, including Steve and Tony, apparently, so everyone wants to go and I guess see drama happen. (For those who don't know, the Hellfire Gala is held on the X-Men's island nation of Krakoa, and it's used both for PR purposes and to also elect the new X-Men team. Though don't quote me on any of that; this is just what I've gleaned from context.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve has a little subplot in which he encourages Emma to make amends with Firestar, because they have bad blood for reasons I don't know. So Emma nominates Firestar to join the X-Men. Steve is proud. (Also worth mentioning: Firestar was an Avenger back in Avengers Vol 3, which I'm guessing is why Steve and later Tony have interactions that involve her.) Also yes, that's Tony standing between Steve and Firestar in the fourth panel above. I like to imagine Steve and Tony spent most of the gala together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tony has a meatier role (when he's not hanging out with Steve). He has a testy interaction with Feilong, who crashed the party, and also speaks to Reed, who tells him that Xavier and Magneto took knowledge out of his head. Tony is concerned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He slides in next to Emma and starts talking at her. She's like, do I know you? Tony's like, you know who I am. She apologizes for not recognizing him out of his suit and he says suits aren't even what he does best, at which point Feilong crashes the card game too and is like, that's right, Tony's thing is that he's a futurist. Tony leans into it, saying that this resurrection technology is going to spell trouble for the mutants. Emma brushes off his concerns and leaves; Tony snarkily tells her thanks for letting him remember this conversation, referencing his and Reed's earlier exchange about Xavier and Magneto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, the above happens: foreshadowing for Feilong becoming Tony's primary antagonist in the Invincible Iron Man Vol 5 run.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anywho, after Firestar is elected to be an X-Man, Tony congratulates her and tells her that if there's anything she thinks the Avengers need to know, she's got his number. Then he says his goodbyes to Emma, who begrudgingly appreciates him trying to warn her about things, and says he won't be back for the next gala. (And indeed, neither he nor Steve are in attendance next time - did Steve decide not to go when he found out Tony wasn't going? That is certainly what I'll tell myself!)
The rest of the issue has some other X-subplot stuff, and we also run into other familiar characters who will be prominent during Fall of X, including Doctor Stasis and Moira, plus plenty of mentions of Orchis... but yeah, clearly I was mostly here for Steve and Tony. :p

Graduation
Marvel | Starker
High school is finally over! Peter can't wait to spend the day celebrating with Tony and May after the ceremony, but he's surprised to find that the two of them have made other plans. Plans involve spending more money than Peter has ever seen in his life and finally picking up on a connection he hadn't realize was there.
Rating: Teen+
For H <3
"Congratulations to the class of 2023! You made it!" Betty declared from the stage above the others. She took off her cap and tossed it into the air. The rest of the class followed suit, erupting into cheers that could be heard across the city. Peter turned and grabbed Ned in a hug.
"I can't believe we survived," Ned said in awe.
Peter laughed. "High school or everything else?"
"You name it," he scoffed. "Name one thing that didn't try to kill us."
They pushed through the crowd to get to the guests standing at the back. "Oh I dunno, smallpox," Peter joked.
"Smallpox?" May laughed in bewilderment as she reached them. She grabbed Peter in a hug that probably hurt her more than it did him. Ned was swept away by his Nona and a flock of his cousins.
"I'm so proud of you, Peter," she said. Her eyes were teary when she let him go. Peter didn't mind that he teared up with her.
"Thanks, May." Behind them someone cleared their throat and Peter turned around. An excited heat burned his cheeks. "Mr. Stark!"
"Hey, kid!" the man said with a grin. He looked sharp as ever and in his hands was a bouquet of roses. Tony held out his arms and Peter felt his heart flutter as he stepped into him. His arms were snug and warm. Their bodies pressed together without tension. Tony's head rested against his. "I'm proud of you, too, you know."
"Yeah," Peter sighed. "Thanks."
They separated and Peter looked up at his mentor. The man looked so adoring.
"I have a present for you."
"Yeah, I saw. They're beautiful, Mr. Stark!" Peter happily took the roses from him.
"Oh, I have more than that."
"You didn't have to do that, sir.
"Well actually, Peter," May joined in. "Tony and I were talking and we agreed that you shouldn't be going off to college without everything you might need. Which is to say, he talked me into it." She laughed.
"Talk you into what?" He looked between the two of them, forehead creased with worry. "What did you two do?"
"Let's grab a few pictures and I'll show you," Tony said.
Peter eyed them both with suspicion. "What's going on?" May just laughed and pulled out her phone. They took turns getting pictures with Peter in and out of his gown while Peter's classmates all grew increasingly curious about Iron Man standing among them. He could hear the gossiping spreading through the crowd. A few moms snapped some not so subtle pictures.
"Can we wrap this up?" Peter asked.
"Yeah, I think we've got enough," May agreed. She steered Peter away from the crowd and toward the parking lot.
"This way," Tony turned away with a little wave. They only made it a few steps before a boy came bounding out of the crowd to interrupt.
"Whoa, Mr. Stark- I'm honored, sir. You must be here to award me my internship!" Flash leaned back on his heels, a smug hand smoothing down his jacket.
"Uh..." Tony looked at Peter then back at him. "Who are you? Nice to meet you, kid." He patted the boy on the shoulder and kept walking.
"Maybe next time, Flash," Peter offered as he passed. For once the guy was left speechless.
They carried on to the parking lot. A few families were inching their way across the pavement while groups lingered for hugs. They walked past them all, going straight up to the front. Tony seemed on a mission as he led the way.
At the front of the lot, sitting by itself, parked crooked to ensure no one else could park nearby in fact, was a brand new car with a massive red bow on top. Peter was wondering which lucky kid it was for right up until Tony stopped next to and gestured as if they were in a showroom.
An Audi R8. Brand new, this year's model. It was silver and black and it probably wasn't shinier than any other car, but it felt like it was. The rims looked custom. The windows were blacked out. He was half convinced Tony had gone through his search history and noticed how many times he'd look at the thing.
"What do you think?" he asked.
Peter's jaw dropped. He couldn't be serious. May put her hands on his shoulders and gave him a squeeze. "It was Tony's idea," she reminded him.
"Mr. Stark, I can't-"
Tony held up his hand. "What happened to calling me Tony? Remember that?"
"Tony," Peter corrected. "I can't accept this. I'm so sorry, but that car costs more than my college tuition." Even as he said he stood gaping in absolute awe. He couldn't resist walking over to touch the hood.
Tony waved his words away. "Forget the price tag, kid. You wanna drive it?"
"I uh-" That threw him for a loop. He was supposed to say no and keep saying no until Tony accepted his no. But he really wanted to climb inside. And to drive it? Him? He had wondered why Tony had been so adamant about teaching for the past year. No one has a car in New York unless it's to show off. In fact, Peter was pretty sure if he parked that in front of their apartment it would be stolen within ten minutes.
"Come on," Tony said, coaxing him like a stray cat. He walked around the car and opened the driver's side door. "Let's test it out."
Peter found himself bounding over to the car. He stuck his head inside and the new car smell struck him almost as hard as the custom leather seats embossed with the Spiderman emblem.
"I did the seats myself. Do you like it?"
"It's perfect, Tony! Thank you!" He threw his arms around the man, enjoying the rumble in his chest as he chuckled.
"You deserve the best, Pete. You really do." Tony's smile was twinkling when Peter finally let him go. He slid into the driver's seat and Tony shut the door for him before walking around to the other side. He looked at him. Then he looked at the push start. One foot on the brake, he started the ignition. Thrill burned up from his toes as the engine started and he couldn't help but laugh. May waved from the other side of the glass.
Peter rolled the window down. "You're not coming, May?"
"I'll see you at dinner. I've had my share of sports cars and besides I don't think Tony would appreciate me sitting on his lap."
"I wouldn't mind," Tony leaned across the center to flirt.
May rolled her eyes. "Have fun. I'll see you both at dinner." She leaned in through the window to kiss Peter's cheek. They traded enthusiastic 'love you's before Peter rolled the window back up.
"Where should we go?" Peter wrapped his hands around the steering wheel.
"Anywhere," Tony said. "So long as we make our eight o'clock reservation. That was May's only condition. I did have a few ideas though."
"I'm up for anything!"
"Great! I'll show you the way."
There wasn't a lot of room to open her up and that felt like a shame when he could just feel how powerful the engine was. Still it was far from disappointing to roll through New York in probably the coolest car ever and with probably the coolest person ever. Tony directed him to some fancy looking shops with their own dedicated parking garage. They said goodbye to Peter's new car to hit Tony's first stop.
"We're buying clothes?" Peter looked around at the racks. A saleswoman hurried over to assist them, but Tony brushed her off.
"I thought you'd like to have something nice to wear to dinner."
"What's wrong with this?" Peter gestured to the suit he wore. He was originally Ben's, but Tony had taken him to have it tailored for graduation.
"Nothing. Maybe I just want to see you try on a few things," Tony said, already skimming through a rack.
Peter blushed. He couldn't imagine what he meant by that, but it almost sounded like flirting. He was in a pleasantly overstimulated haze as he followed Tony around the shop. He helped pick out a few things, but he didn't really know what he was doing.
They made it to the dressing room almost too quickly. As if Tony knew exactly what he wanted. He set the clothes on the hooks for him then left him to it. Peter wasn't sure where to start so he grabbed the first thing he saw and put it on.
He felt a bit nervous as he stepped out of the dressing room. He felt like the jacket was wearing him more than he was wearing it. Tony was seated just outside the door. Peter did a little turn while he waited for his approval.
"No, that doesn't suit you, does it?" he commented.
"I hate it," Peter laughed with relief. Tony laughed with him.
"Try the jeans. I have a good feeling about them."
Peter went back to the dressing room and found the outfit Tony recommended. It was definitely better than the last one.
"Okay, how's this?" He modeled the outfit in front of Tony again.
Tony clapped his head together. "I'm a genius. Keep the Levi's, ditch the sweater. In fact, I have a better idea. Let's hit the next one."
"The next one? I thought we were shopping here."
Tony shrugged. "Sometimes you gotta mix and match. This place just isn't doing you justice."
Peter hurried back to his room, blushing again. Why did Tony care so much what he looked like? He probably just didn't want to be embarrassed at one of his fancy restaurants. He changed back into his graduation suit and carried everything back out. Tony helped set the extras on the return rack.
Peter carried the jeans up to the front, but he stopped as he spotted the shoes along the wall.
"See something you like?" Tony asked. Peter nodded. "Well, go on. We're celebrating you today. Whatever you want. Just ask."
Peter walked over to shoes and found a box labeled with his size. He slid it out from the shelf.
"Doc Martin's? Let's see 'em on," Tony encouraged. He took the jeans from his hands and followed him over to the bench. Peter kicked off his shoes and slipped his feet into the boots instead.
Tony knelt down, without hesitating, to do up the laces for him. Peter stared at the top of his salt and pepper head, grateful that Tony couldn't see how much he was blushing. He felt like a princess and not in a bad way.
"How do they fit?" Tony stood, then he pulled Peter up to his feet.
Peter swallowed. "They're great." He looked down at the shoes. He'd never owned real Doc's before. Just some gently used knockoffs he'd been lucky to find at the thrift store.
"Perfect. We'd better move if we don't want to be late. Unless you see something else you want?"
Peter shook his head, already overwhelmed. He followed Tony to the register. Then they were two bags heavier as they walked down the street.
"Dior?" Tony mused as they passed more shops. "Channel. No..." Tony looked at him. He smiled. "I know where. Come on."
Tony grabbed Peter's hand. They walked faster now. Fast enough, that they both ended up laughing at Tony's enthusiasm. Then Peter saw the sign above the door and planted his feet.
"Tony, come on... Saint Laurent?" He chewed his lip.
Tony leaned towards him conspiratorially. "Peter. I'm a millionaire. This is like Kmart to me."
"I'm gonna barf." Just the exterior of the shop looked expensive.
"Well, do it now before you're in your new Saint Laurent's."
Peter took a breath. Maybe the idea of buying clothes brand new gave him a mild panic attack, but he did really like what he saw in the window. "Okay."
This time Peter pulled Tony along as they went inside. He let the man lead him around again, ignoring the overly helpful staff seemingly only to notice Peter and the pile of clothes he intended to put him in. It all blurred together until Peter was once again in a dressing room.
"Let's try the vest with the jeans," Tony called through the doors. He could see his shadow under the door where he leaned against the wall.
Peter put the outfit together hoping this was the last time he had to get in and out of that suit. It was a soft brown vest over a comfortable white T. Tony was right as always, it looked really good with the jeans. He stepped out of the stall.
"How do I look?"
"Gorgeous," Tony said, almost sighing. "You look gorgeous."
"Yeah? It looks good right?" Peter smoothed down the vest.
"You look good," Tony agreed.
Peter's face felt hot. He stared down at his shoes for a while and when he looked back up, Tony was staring at him strangely.
"Are you okay?"
Tony sniffed. He turned his head away quickly. "I'm great, kid. Why don't you wear that out? Well have them cut the tags off." He walked away from the dressing room leaving Peter deeply confused. He turned around and looked in the mirror again. He did look really good.
Peter threw his new shoes on and followed Tony back out to the front. Sinking into the passenger seat of his new Audi, he finally relaxed.
"Thank you, Tony," Peter said. "And I'm sorry I made a fuss about all the shopping."
"Don't mention it, Pete. Did you have a good time?"
"I really did!" Peter smiled. "You had fun right?"
"Yeah. We should do this again," Tony agreed. "And I mean we really should do this again, not like we just say we'll do it again and then we don't."
Peter laughed. "Definitely."
Something felt different. Something felt... different. They'd spent a lot of time together in the lab. But it was different like this. Tony wasn't teaching him things, instructing him. Which, when he thought about it, Tony hadn't needed to teach him much lately anyway. Things were different. Warmer somehow. Tony was like family, but that was different too. That wasn't quite it. It was...
Oh.
But that wasn't right was it? Or maybe he was right to think Tony was flirting with him. Or maybe it didn't matter anyway. Maybe it was okay to love Tony even if he didn't love him back in that way.
Peter rubbed his palms against his jeans. Yeah... it was okay.
They found a parking spot on the street. The idea of leaving the car there made Peter nervous, but he supposed he'd have to get used to that. Besides, Tony had probably put a tracking device in it. It wouldn't get far. Tony turned the car off. For a moment, they sat in silence.
"Peter..." Tony started. "I've been thinking."
Peter looked at him. He had that strange look on his face again.
"We should spend more time together. If you want to. Before you leave for school. Not that I won't come visit because I will if you want me to it's just-"
Peter blinked. Tony was rambling. Rambling. Tony Stark. Peter reached across the car and put his hand on his arm. Tony stopped talking. They stared at each other. When Tony leaned towards, just a half an inch, Peter took it all the way.
Tony's hand slid over his ribs to pull him closer, just a hair, as they kissed. Then he so very gently, Tony pushed him back. His smile was soft.
"You want to uh... I mean maybe tomorrow night. We could do dinner. Just us?"
Peter laughed softly. "Yeah, of course."
"Well then. Let's not keep May waiting." Tony jumped out of the car and ran around to get Peter's door. He laughed as Tony helped him out. They walked arm in arm down the street to the restaurant where May was waiting.
The host led them to their table. May stood as they approached and pulled Peter into a hug.
"You look so handsome!" she squealed. She held his face in her hands and her eyes went teary once more.
Peter pulled her back into his arms. "I'm not leaving forever, you know. I'll come home. I promise."
"That's why I let Tony get you the car." She gave him a sly smile as he let her go. Laughing, Peter pulled out her chair for her and they all sat down. Tony's hand brushed against his and Peter took it. He seemed almost silly, holding hands under the table when Tony was probably too old for sneaking touches. May's eyes flicked between them and he saw the moment it clicked for her. Peter's stomach knotted.
"May-"
"So," she interrupted. "You two had fun today?"
"We did. We had a great time," Tony answered.
Peter jumped up from the table as her eyes narrowed. "May, can I talk to you?" He pulled her chair out and half dragged her away. They found a quiet spot near the bathrooms.
"What is going on?" she asked firmly. She wasn't mad yet, but Peter weighed his words.
"Nothing. We just really like each other. It only just happened today."
"What exactly happened?"
"I uh..." Peter stared at the fake plant tucked into the corner. He babbled all the words out before panic could set in. "I realized that I love him. And maybe I'm in love with him. And that he seemed to like me, too. And then I kissed him. And he said maybe tomorrow we could have a date."
May took a breath. Peter looked at her face again. "See, nothing."
She nodded. "And you love him?"
"I really do, May."
"What if this is like your hero worship thing?"
"Then it'll end awkwardly and I'll be super embarrassed, but don't you think it's worth taking that chance?"
May put her hands on his shoulders. She looked into his eyes, searching in that way she always does. "Okay. But no funny business for three dates at least. Maybe even for." She held up her hand. "Not because I'm against sex, but because this is an unusual situation and I'm only hesitantly agreeing to allow it."
Peter smiled. "Thanks, May. You wanna go read him the riot act?"
"I think it would be a little bit ineffective on Iron Man." She snorted a laugh. "My kid's dating Tony Stark, who knew?"
Peter laughed. "Dating is a strong word. We should go before he thinks we snuck out the back."
They made their way back to the table and sat down again. Tony started to speak, but May held up her hand.
"Don't. You have my tentative permission to be an extreme gentleman with my Peter," she said. "Who I love very much and would do anything for including life in prison."
Tony nodded. "I completely understand."
Peter rolled his eyes. "Did someone order an appetizer? I'm starving. We've been running around for hours."
He took Tony's hand again, under the table. He gave him a reassuring squeeze. They ate one handed, refusing to let go. Dinner went as it always did. Tony made everyone laugh, while May made bad jokes of her own, and Peter chatted excitedly about his future. Then afterward, they all stood outside under twinkling city lights.
"I'll call an Uber home," Tony said.
"What? No," Peter argued.
Tony gave him a soft smile. His hand rested gently on Peter's arm. "Why don't you give May a ride home? I'll see you tomorrow."
"But..." Peter chewed his lip.
"You two go. I'll call a cab," May said.
"Are you sure? I could call Happy-"
"No, that's okay," May laughed. She gave Peter a hug and a look that said she was excited for him. Peter squeezed her extra tight. They waited until May's car arrived. Hands tucked together, they waved her off. Peter's stomach fluttered with butterflies as he realized it was just the two of them.
"I've probably got, what, a week left to live?" Tony said.
"What?" Peter looked at him stunned, but Tony just smiled.
"She didn't seem too pleased with me."
Peter shrugged. "Guess you'd better watch your back, Iron Man."
"I'd rather watch yours," he said, raising an eyebrow.
"I think you did plenty of that already today."
Tony started to lead the way back to Peter's car. His very own car. "What you have to understand, Mr. Parker, is that I am insatiable."
Peter blushed. His mind wandered to what other areas might make Tony so "insatiable". They found the car and Peter slid in behind the wheel. He looked at Tony sitting beside him. Then he took a deep breath.
"Everything okay?" Tony frowned at him, but his forehead wasn't quite creased with his deeply worried lines.
"Yeah. I'm great." Peter started the car and pulled out into the road. They were quiet for a while as they moved through traffic. Peter felt himself buzzing with all of the excitement of the day. Graduation, a new car, Tony. It was overwhelming really.
"This isn't the way to your apartment," Tony noted as they moved along.
"Don't get any ideas," Peter teased. "I'm just dropping you off."
"I could fly home. I've got my suit."
"I think we're going to have enough rumors circulating by the end of the day. We haven't been in public together that much before and people definitely noticed."
"Really? I didn't even see them."
"Yeah right," Peter laughed.
"No, I mean it. I was a bit preoccupied."
Peter's skin warmed. "Do you mean that?" he said quietly.
"Of course I do."
Tony's garage opened up like it knew Peter's car. In fact, it probably did. He must have stored it here while he was customizing things. Putting all of his love into every little part. Peter turned the car off. He turned in the seat and looked at Tony. He still looked so worried.
"Tony?" He paused as they looked into each other's eyes. "I love you. I don't know if what you feel for me is like that-"
"It is. Of course it is." Almost looked pained by the confession. "I've loved enough people to know what it feels like. I've been pretty privileged there. I also know when love is different. When it's something special."
Peter's eyes welled with tears. "Yeah?" He cracked a wet smile.
"Yeah," Tony smiled back as emotion overcame him, too.
Peter looked away, unsure of what to do now. He knew it wasn't the right time to stay the night. He wasn't ready. This whole thing felt a little bit terrifying, but he also felt like words just weren't enough. And it was funny, because they had already kissed once. It shouldn't be so hard to do it again. But it was different now with those words in the air between them. Only when he looked back at Tony, he felt sure.
He grabbed him. Two fists in his clothes and pulled him across the car. He pressed their mouths together, too hard at first, until he relaxed his hold a bit. Tony laughed and Peter did, too. He struggled for a moment to just let the moment happen, let their kisses be tender. All of that pent up excitement was burning through him. Then it was sweet and Tony's hands were warm on his face and it was exactly what words just couldn't say.
They stopped and Peter looked at those wide brown eyes. "Goodnight, Tony," he whispered.
"Goodnight, Peter." Tony gave him a last quick kiss before he stepped out of the car.
Peter headed back out onto the street, eager to see what tomorrow would bring.

Stevetony as #9 for the soft kissing prompts 💖 maybe right before they go out for a mission????
Thank you for the prompt!
(A Not so) Long Kiss Goodbye
Rated T
Prompt: a kiss before work
650 words
Steve read over the mission brief again on his tablet before abandoning it on the empty seat next to him. Looking out the back of the jet, he saw Tony. He wished the other man was seated next to him instead of flying solo. Tactically, it made more sense for Iron Man to head out alone. It provided them better intel and more ground cover—still he would prefer his partner at his side.
It was this over protective nature that kept them from running missions together very often. It had been laid out in more subtle terms to them both but had been made clear enough by the directors at SHIELD. It was only big, full Avengers protocol level, missions that had them working together in the field nowaday. Those missions were few and far between, thankfully. A new potential lead on Loki's missing scepter was what had them called together now. Not a global disaster but a branch of one that involved them all.
“You gonna strap in or keep giving him puppy dog eyes?” Natasha questioned as she ran through the final flight check for the jet.
“I can do both,” Steve countered and stood, making his way off the loading ramp back to the hanger.
“Make it quick!” Her words floated after him.
“Room for you on the Quinjet, Tony,” Steve opened as he approached the other man.
“Well aware, I did design it,” came Tony's mildly sarcastic response. “And thanks to certain people, I have gotten very well acquainted with the different seating and space options in the back compartment.”
Steve's lips twitched up at the comment, a soft glaze of honey glow touching his cheeks at the call back to some of their spicier,  semi-public encounters. “You don’t say?”
“Hmmmm, need a refresher?”
The sound of Tony's low tone and hum distorted by the touch of metallic echo form being suited up made Steve's gut clench. He liked Tony in the suit. He only wished it didn't mean they were heading into danger.
“You two wanna get a room or what?”
Both men turned to see Clint grinning at them from the back of the jet, an amused looking Bruce elbowing him lightly.
“If we didn't have a mission to run, I would gladly take that suggestion, so don't tempt me,” Tony drawled back, not phased by the heckling of their friends.
Steve grinned at the exchange, more happy over their friends' acceptance of them than bothered by the occasional teasing. It was a far deal better than the level of tolerance he had grown up around—which had been exactly zero. The ability to openly show how much he cared for Tony meant a great deal to him.
“Not even time for a quicky,” Steve gave a put upon sigh, playing up his disappointment for the sake of their onlookers. He tapped lightly at Tony's face plate, the pad of his finger running along the slit of its pseudo-mouth. The piece of armor slid up out of the way instantly.
“Oooh nothing with you is ever quick Mr. Marathon,” Tony chuckled and smirked playfully.
Grinning, Steve leaned in and kissed the other man, lingering and slow—the motion of their lips as meaningful as words. Tony cupped a hand around Steve's hip, the touch far more gentle than the cold, hard metal of his suit should have allowed for. It made Steve hum and press harder, the tip of his tongue lightly grazing Tony's lip.
A cat call and sharp whistle from their friends was what forced them apart. Without missing a beat, Tony flipped them off and replaced the face plate all in one motion. A split second later, he was moving a half step back and taking off, leaving only the soft hum on the repulsors in his wake.
Steve ignored the good natured teasing from his teammates, content to stand and watch until Tony was out of sight.

Safe place
Also posted on AO3!
A/N: this was based on one of @fotibrit's great Irondad prompts! Here's the original. I'm very nervous because I didn't write it exactly how it was supposed to be, so I'm sorry if it's too short dhsgfjdg
TRIGGER WARNINGS - panic attack, past child abuse, and trauma
--
Everyone has a safe place. For Tony, it’s the machines, the insides of iron and the engines, oil his favorite smell. It might sound gross and strange to other people, but that’s been the reality since his younger years. An even safer place for him is when he’s under a car, where he can hide from the world.
Or most specifically, from his father.
Teenage Tony Stark once ran away from home, resulting in Howard cutting him off financially to force him to come back. Those were dire times, ones nobody is aware of, not even Rhodey, his best friend. To the media then, unheard of. No one has ever known the truth about Howard Stark, though honestly, Tony doubts it would even taint his reputation.
Either way, Tony has a safe place in his machines, and it’s not one he really shares with anyone. People admire it from a distance, not quite understanding his obsession with it.
But everything changes when a certain spider-kid starts seeing him in his workshop.
Besides updating and fixing Peter’s suit, they also spend some of it going through Tony’s cars. While Tony is under the car, Peter hands him the necessary tools. It's the opposite of Tony’s teenage years. Howard would never let his son anywhere near him or his own workshop, no matter how hard Tony tried to prove to him he was worth it.
The workshop is not only Tony’s safe place. It’s also Peter’s. He sees the spark in the kid’s eyes when they’re building and rebuilding something.
When Tony realizes it, he’s willing to do something he never imagined.
“How about you try?” He suggests, leaving the car.
Peter raises an eyebrow. “Try what?”
The man points at the car, ready to be repaired again.
“... Oh. Uh…”
Peter nervously kneels down to check under the car.
“What do you say?” Tony smiles.
“I…” the kid returns to his feet. “I dunno, Mr. Stark. What if I- I break something?”
Tony scoffs. “Come on, don’t be shy.”
“No, really, I don’t think this is a good idea.”
“Hey, it’s okay. You’re not going to mess it up.” He pats Peter’s shoulder. “I trust you.”
Peter seems to be awestruck by said words.
“But hey, if you’re not up to it, I’m not gonna force you,” Tony reassures him.
So, he returns down there while Peter sits next to him, waiting for instructions. The thing is… Peter has grown rather quiet. He usually goes on about his day while Tony works – which is not at all distracting, Tony doesn’t mind it. He just wonders why the kid isn’t talking much.
When he checks up on Peter, he finds him very… contemplative, like he’s trying to figure out what to do next.
“Pete? You good?” Tony asks.
“Oh, um…”
The older man gazes at him, wondering what’s up.
“Actually…” Peter clears his throat. “Can I try it now?”
Tony grins. “Sure, buddy.”
Although he wasn’t necessarily disappointed when Peter first rejected it, it does bring him some joy to be sharing his safe place with someone he likes spending time with.
“You know what to do, yeah?” Tony asks as the kid goes under the car this time.
“Y… Yeah.”
“Here,” Tony hands him the screwdriver.
Except…
Peter doesn’t take it.
“Peter?”
“Oh- sorry, sorry.”
“Are you okay?”
“Mmm, yeah, totally.”
However, as Peter takes the tool, Tony notices his hand is… trembling. And he doesn’t even use the screwdriver – he just plays with it nervously, then holding onto it tightly. Tony checks down there, realizing that Peter seems to think the car is going to crush him at any moment as he’s as stiff and hardened as a rock.
“Peter, you don’t have to–” Tony tries, only to be interrupted.
“I’m fine, Mr. Stark, I just–”
The kid gulps.
“I just- I can’t–” Peter heaves. “I can’t breathe–”
Shit.
Tony pulls him back, only for the teen to instantly stand and run away.
“Peter, wait!” The former tries to reach out to him.
Peter stops and snaps, “I can’t BREATHE in there!”
“You don’t have to go back there, I promise. It’s okay.”
The boy’s brown eyes are glowing. But it’s not that spark that Tony sees when they’re having fun.
“You’re safe, Pete,” Tony tells him. “You’re safe.”
Peter sobs. “I-I’m sorry.”
“Hey, shhh…”
“I’m sorry, you trusted me, I didn’t want to let you down–”
“You didn’t, it’s okay.”
Peter starts crying more properly, like Tony’s reassurances are making him let out whatever is repressed inside him. He hugs himself, hiding from Tony, tears falling on the floor.
“Oh, Peter,” the latter wants to cry, too. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to push you.”
“N-No, you don’t get it, I- I was–”
Tony takes one tentative step forward, respecting the boy’s space.
“I was stuck,” Peter says. “I was stuck and I couldn’t breathe and- and it was so dark and suffocating”– he weeps –“I couldn’t get out, no one could hear me–”
Tony is surprised to hear this. It’s like… he has experienced something as awful as this before. But apparently much, much worse.
“I’m here,” he reminds Peter. “I’m here, I can hear you. You can breathe now. You just gotta follow my lead, okay?”
Finally, Peter looks up, eyes and cheeks red.
Tony is gradually stepping closer.
“With me, in… and out…” He exaggerates deep breaths. It’s something Rhodey usually does to help him, and he hopes it does the same for Peter. “In… and out.”
Peter’s breaths are shaky and wet, but he follows Tony’s instructions perfectly. The calmer they are, the closer Tony is.
“You’re doing great, kid,” the man praises. “Keep it going.”
Peter nods and continues. He does it a couple more times before an exasperated sigh comes out of him. Tony is close enough now, wanting to take Peter’s shaking hands into his. He does it slowly so he doesn’t scare him off.
That leads Peter to bury his face against his shoulder. Tony freezes, but not at the contact. It’s the way the kid shrinks like he’s expecting to get yelled at.
This whole thing, Tony sees a teenager that just wanted his father’s approval. That wanted to do everything to prove to him he was good enough.
But Peter… Peter is so much more than just good enough.
The truth is, he’s…
He’s Tony’s safe place.
And he wants to be Peter’s, too.
It should matter more than the machines and cars and an old mechanic shop no one has ever heard of. They are each other’s home.
Finally, Tony wraps both arms around him, as the boy cries silently. Peter doesn’t have the strength to return the hug for now, he just lets himself be hugged because he’s needed this all along.
Eventually, they leave the workshop. They get something to eat, and they just make themselves comfortable. Peter doesn’t need to tell Tony everything today. He knows something is up, but he’s not going to force the boy to do anything else.
All he does… is to be by Peter’s side.
He makes sure he’s safe.
Tony won’t let his kid struggle on his own ever again.
He’ll be here.
Forever and always.

Chapter 13: Epilogue
What was planned as a quiet and uneventful patrol turned out to be rather an inconvenience when Tony and Peter got attacked. Their radars had been set for the regular humanoid undead. So it had been a surprise when their attacker turned out to be neither humanoid nor undead.
“What the hell is wrong with these raccoons? Why are their eyes glowing?” Tony blasted at least three of them with a repulsor beam off their feet, but there were still so many of them clinging onto his Iron Man suit. They were hard to shake off even using his best flying maneuvers.
Peter had a similar problem. Plus, since they were in a villa area, he had trouble swinging. The houses were not high enough and too far apart to be of use to him.
“I’m still analyzing the data, Sir. But based on their movement pattern it seems like they seem to share a mind.”
“Do you think they are being possessed?”
This was clearly no normal raccoon behavior, even if they regularly became a problem in the outer parts of the city.
Tony blasted some raccoons that had their sharp claws on Peter’s suit. He took the boy’s hand and pulled him into the air to get them both out of reach. For now, he set him on top of a streetlight.
The raccoons tried to climb up it. Their eyes were still glowing in that creepy yellow-green light and it was creeping Tony out.
“It’s possible,” Jarvis answered his last question.
“Great. Call Doctor Wiz-…” Before he could even finish the sentence, there was a familiar circle of sparkling light that formed a portal.
Stephen stepped through it and into the street. He was wearing his typical sorcerer garb and looked around. His eyes locked onto the raccoon tower that was forming at the bottom of the street lamp, and they darkened.
Glancing up briefly, he saw Peter and Tony on and next to the light. The boy waved at him, while Tony raised his hand in greeting.
Stephen did not reply, which would be considered rude. Instead he approached the raccoons to solve that problem – so Tony let it slide.
The raccoons sensed the newcomer and some of them turned to him. They made their little raccoon sounds – like angry chittering – before they attacked him as well.
The sorcerer was not having it. The cloak took him up in the air and Stephen called upon his magic.
His eyes began to glow the same color as the critters, and for a moment Tony was afraid that something had gone wrong.
But Stephen was skilled. He was shifting into a state that allowed him to see the bond by which the raccoons were held. With that, it was easy to conjure sharp magic blades that he threw at the bond to break the connection.
There were a lot of raccoons.
The cloak helped him to move above and between them, to cut every single connection.
To Tony and Peter, it looked like he was randomly cutting through the air. But one by one the critters froze before shaking their little heads, the glowing fading from their eyes. When it was gone completely, one raccoon after another fled into the darkness of the night. They no longer had the urge to attack people.
Tony and Peter moved from the lantern to the ground.
“Hey Doctor Strange,” Peter greeted him cheerfully, while Tony stepped right into his personal space. His faceplate opened, and wearing the suit, he was almost the same height as the sorcerer.
“Did Jarvis call you?” he asked, standing closer than regular friends would do.
It was hard for Stephen not to focus on the peak of Tony’s neck and the sweet blood he sensed underneath the skin. Ever since he had a taste of it, the awareness of Tony’s blood had become stronger whenever he was in proximity.
He cleared his throat, trying to find words. The amused look on Tony's face told him he was taking a second too long for it.
“No. I sensed some witch activities nearby and followed the magic trail to investigate. I didn’t know you were here.” If he had known that Tony had been in trouble, he would have arrived sooner.
“Well, you still arrived like a knight in shining armor, so I guess it’s just fair to reward you.” Tony used the same height advantage to press a quick kiss onto the Vamp’s lips.
He would really just take any excuse to kiss him. And if it happened that the vampire was flustered by it because he hadn’t expected it, so it was just a bonus.
“Uhm…” Stephen cleared his throat again.
"What?" Peter, who had been standing by and watching them, obviously had not been informed about this turn of events.
The sorcerer, finally remembering he and Tony were not alone, turned to the boy. “What are you doing here anyway? Isn’t it a school night?” He asked both Peter and Tony.
“Don’t look at me,” the Were defended himself. "It told him that if he got caught, he had to bear the consequences. ."
"He is your responsibility."
“What can I say? I’m the cool dad. And even if I had forbidden it, he would have gone off on his own anyway. So, isn’t it smarter to accompany him in the first place?”
With that Stephen couldn’t argue. He did open a portal to Peter’s room at home though.
The boy pouted but finally complied. “Fine. I’ll see you tomorrow, I guess.” He gave the two adults one last glance to see if they were really sending him home, but found no mercy.
“Good night, Peter.”
“See you after school.”
Sighing, Peter waved them goodbye, before the portal closed between them. Stephen turned to Tony. “You two kind of seem to make it a habit that I have to come in to your help,” he grinned, laying his hand on Tony's arm. Well, on the suit part of it.
He liked the Iron Man suit. It was an engineering masterpiece and kept Tony safe. But he preferred him without the metal around him, so he could touch him and actually feel him. His skin and his pulse. Feeling that he was alive.
“Two times is not a habit.”
“Is it not? Then how many times would you say it does?”
“If I answer that you’ll keep a score in your head and I don’t like that.” Tony looked at the Vamp and sighed. “And knowing you, you will start that score anyway just because I just mentioned it.”
Stephen’s smile was sharp and showed a lot of teeth. “You know me very well indeed.” He winked at Tony, before he changed the topic back to business. “Do you want to accompany me in tracking down that witch who did this?” he asked.
“Absolutely.”
