Last Monday of the Week 2023-12-25

God damn it's the last Monday of the year. I have guests.

Listening: Vienna Teng again, going through the discography. Haven't listened to the early stuff enough to like it yet so here's another song from Aims, "In The 99".

Reading: Started the new Murderbot. Murderbot is really good but also right at the limit of my tolerance for its particular style of writing.

Watching: Nothing of note. I guess this neat process video on an ultra-compact piece of LED jewelry:

Playing: Not much! Been busy getting ready for Guests.

Making: Guests are here and I realized I don't have a toilet roll holder. This place came with a bidet and presumably the previous owner didn't use toilet rolls at all. Today while waiting for people to get ready I quickly threw together a printable toiletroll holder and set it to print while we were out.

It has some flaws, I forgot to account for torsion forces so it's a little floppy. I'll print it with some reinforcement webbing later but this works pretty well.

Tools and Equipment: I recommend noting down interesting places on a map. I have been hauling my brother and sister-in-law around Prague and it's very useful to pull up a map covered in pins and go "oh hey there's X to see here"

snøfle makes me ridiculously happy, the serotonin in my brain is run by him breathing

watching grass move in the wind like waves, i could stare for HOURS

listening to music while cooking, singing along and acting like im performing with snøfle. our favorite duo performance are those epic the musical about the cyclop and the sheep. idk anything else about epic btw, its just those specific songs and its me and snøfle

the two cardboard cut outs on my desk of snøfle and my friend's dog, ida. my cat-sitter feat. friend made them out of used toiletrolls while i was in japan and now they decorate my desk! (picture under the cut)

cuddling under blankets during a suuuuper cold winter evening. the bedrooms almost too cold but not entirely, and im wrapped up in a hoodie, trackpants and blankets. the air feels so fresh and crisp!!!

Bewoners en bezoekers in gemeente Woerden kunnen bij hoge nood gemakkelijk een toilet vinden. Zo’n 20 ondernemers en (semi-)publieke voorzieningen stellen hun toilet open voor het publiek. Het overgrote deel van de toiletten is gratis te gebruiken. Dit draagt bij aan een gastvrij Woerden. Vandaag start een actie om het publiek hierop te wijzen. Hoge nood De meeste toiletten zijn overdag open, enkele toiletten bij horecagelegenheden hebben ruimere openingstijden. De toiletten zijn te vinden op www.beleefwoerden.com/hoge-nood en in de app Hoge Nood. Hoe meer toiletten er beschikbaar zijn voor het publiek, hoe beter. Wilt u als ondernemer of organisatie ook meedoen? Stuur dan een mail aan ruis.a@woerden.nl.  Gastvrijheid en service Speciaal voor deze actie is er een Woerden-toiletrol ontworpen. Wethouder Mariëtte Pennarts-Pouw overhandigde het eerste exemplaar aan vakdrogist Stouthart en Patricia van Hall van Stadshart Woerden en tevens eigenares van theewinkel Buro Fudge. Drogisterij Stouthart is een van de plekken waar mensen overdag gebruik kunnen maken van een schoon toilet. “‘Er komen bij ons in de drogisterij veel mensen met darm- of blaasproblemen. Wij weten uit ervaring hoe fijn dat het is dat je zonder gedoe naar de wc kan. Dat is geen luxe, maar noodzaak als je hoge nood hebt. Daarom stellen wij onze toilet graag beschikbaar. Dat we hiermee een steentje bijdragen aan een gastvrij Woerden is mooi meegenomen’ Ondernemer Patricia van Hall vult aan: “Als huiskamer van de regio vinden we als Stadshart gastvrijheid en behulpzaamheid belangrijk. In dat plaatje past het zichtbaar maken van de toiletten. Om de ondernemers te bedanken dat ze de toiletten promoten, hebben we een vrolijke Woerden-toiletrol gemaakt. Op de wikkel zie je de iconen van Woerden, zoals molen de Windhond, de Watertoren en de Petruskerk. Ook Woerdense thema’s als kaas en fiets ontbreken natuurlijk niet. Het is een echt collectors item.” Stimulans Wethouder Mariëtte Pennarts-Pouw van recreatie en toerisme: “In samenwerking met Stadshart en Woerden Marketing stellen ondernemers en organisaties in Woerden hun toilet beschikbaar. Daar zijn we als gemeente heel blij mee. Want het ontbreken van goede toiletvoorzieningen kan mensen weerhouden om op pad te gaan. Dat geldt zeker voor groepen die vaker het toilet gebruiken, zoals ouderen en mensen met buik- en blaasklachten. Door de beschikbare toiletten goed vindbaar te maken, geven we ook deze mensen de kans om erop uit te gaan.” Toiletrollen voor het goede doel De Woerden-toiletrollen zijn in samenwerking met The Good Roll ontwikkeld en verkrijgbaar bij de VVV, Emmakade 6A in Woerden (let op: beperkte oplage). Met een deel van de nettowinst bouwt The Good Roll toiletten in Ghana. Nieuwe Agenda Recreatie en Toerisme Het project Hoge Nood is een van de projecten van de nieuwe Agenda Recreatie en Toerisme. De raad behandelt deze na de zomer. In de agenda kiest Woerden ervoor om inclusiviteit en duurzaamheid actiever toe te passen binnen recreatie en toerisme. Ook economische impact van bezoek vergroten is een doel.
