You know what? They didn't retcon Toads with non-circle mushroom patterns and I'm going a little bit crazy (positive) about that.
Anyway here's Toadofsky because I have never drawn him before. Surprisingly. The ORIGINAL music-associated Mario RPG character with ye olde curly wig hair; I'd best put some respect on his name... And hope they didn't re-localize it, or I will feel silly.

Today's amphibian(s), the tadpoles from Super Mario RPG, along with Toadofsky. More middle-aged person nostalgia fanart.
[ID: A pixel drawing of Melody Bay with Toadofsky and some tadpoles from Super Mario RPG. The tadpoles are swimming in a pond marked with lines like sheet music. /ID]

Another old piece this time from maybe January. Essentially a concept drawing of Gaz’s mom in the iFool AU.
The current Geno side story and the main events of Immortal Fool take place 10 years after the events of SMRPG. Rose Town sits in between the forest maze, which became a pretty popular hike spot, Tadpole Pond where Toadofsky did his music things, and Booster Tower which became popular with today’s youth, so the Rose Town Inn became a very popular place to stay, sometimes being completely booked by tourists and Gaz needs to assist with managing things. And so, she became more business-oriented and dressed the part.
(There’s also a headcanon where she’s really into cowboys…)
As for the running gag that Geno keeps borrowing other people’s clothes, he just doesn’t own any of his own for the human “spell/curse/whatever” he’s stuck in for the story, and will thankfully take whatever is offered to him as long as it is comfortable.

Toadofsky, Master of Plagiarism
Thinginator's journey of drawing Geno daily for over 1000 days came to an end tonight with the release of the Super Mario RPG Remake. To commemorate the remake, they organized a collab for anyone who wanted to take part in celebrating the original game. They shared one final drawing of Geno, as their true final image, but I am honored to have had a chance to participate in their journey.
I drew Toadofsky, the supposed famous composer who not only *borrowed* existing compositions throughout the world of SMRPG, but he had YOU do his dirty work for him! Even the most original part of his composition was left to YOU to write!
Please check out the tweet linked below for the rest of the collab.

🐝 yooo you ever heard about that story "So The Frogs Shall Roar", what's that about?
Ahh, yes! I remember this one, it was like... the third or fourth in that ridiculous series of fics I did that was like a crossover/extended universe combination of Mario RPG and Paper Mario. Which isn't too much of a stretch, but anyway:
This story starts out at a rehearsal session for the Toad Town Junior Choir's spring concert. Mallow is psyched because he gets to do a little solo, but excitement turns to distress when he tries to sing but nothing comes out but a weird croaking noise...
The kid freaks out! What could possibly be wrong with him?? His pals Goombario and Kooper are of no help, giving him all kinds of wild ideas—like how maybe he lived in Tadpole Pond for so long he doesn't know how to be a Cloudfolk and is going to turn into a frog!
The three hit the local library for more information on frogs and how they live and grow, a study session that ends with Mallow sadly resigning himself to his fate. As he walks to the bus stop on his way home, he passes Princess Peach and asks her if she might ever be willing to kiss a frog to try and turn him back into a prince, "y'know, if that ever comes up in the future any time soon, y'know". While she finds the question odd, she reassures him that she would.
Eventually our designated mother-type Sushie overhears the whole story from Peach and susses out what's happening. She attends the next rehearsal just to tell Mallow that what's happening to him is totally normal and happens to all small fry when they start to grow—his voice is changing! Unfortunately, this presents its own new problem: What to do about Mallow's solo in the concert? Luckily choir director Toadofsky loves a challenge, and on the night of the concert the residents of Toad Town are treated to the debut performance of the composer's newest masterpiece for young voices: "Holiday for the Spring Peepers", starring Mallow as the famous frog!
...
...yeah, okay, so this same story basically happened in an episode of The Brady Bunch. But at least when I crib something, I crib from the best!

Super Mario RPG playthrough diary - 7
Alright, MicroSD card installed, we're ready to go! To Tadpole Pond!!
Tumblr media
So Frogfffeeerrrr SAGE says what we just saw in that opening bit. Mario was saving Peach, but then a gigantamongous sword came in and struck the castle! Not to mention the Star Pieces are believed to grant wishes...
But then, in an absolutely shocking twist that absolutely everybody saw coming...
Tumblr media
Now that the backstory's been revealed that Mallow was Moses'd along over to Froggy Grampie's pond and now he's gotta find his real parents, let's give the old coot a Cricket Pie.
Tumblr media
This "something" is a Froggie Stick, implied to be Frogdaddy's weapon when he was a baby tadpole boy himself. It's something for Mallow.
They kept the Toad musician's name as Toadofsky - but I guaran-damn-tee you everyone will call him "Todovski". I get where they're coming from, but his name looks more like "Toad of Sky" than "Tchoadovski".
I almost got his Suite No. 18 right, but I whiffed the beginning. To Rose Way!
Uh...
Tumblr media
You're gonna have to be so lucky to be able to Thought Peek a Crook.
And after a long bit of stuff happening, I happened across Bowser.
Tumblr media
Now that I've made it to Rose Town, let's call it quits for now.
Tumblr media
Time to save and quit and eat.

Well, I finally understand what the ever loving hell Belome is supposed to be with the higher fidelity graphics!
And now to go down the river and...wait! I need to find (or recreate if I threw it out) my music charts for Toadofsky!

Toadofsky (Super Mario RPG)
A Toad wearing a gold composer's wig is both quite unique and quite a funny sight to behold.

this took almost a full week for me to even complete. mein gott. it was worth it, though! i thought that something like this would be fun and capture the essence of whimsy that super mario rpg gives me. it’s something i treasure.
by the way... do you treasure it, too? because, like, operation starfall is blowing up and we could use more content creators and fans like you — yes, you! — to help bring smrpg back into the modern day. uncle mario wants YOU.
