i can imagine etho brainstorming how to get his rizz up, reading scientific research on human connection and realized "hmm people like you more the more you use their name. easy hack" and then he started making an effort to call people by their name more and thats why he's always saying people's name in conversation when he talks to them. bc its all calculated to make people like him more. and it WORKS
#sometimes etho lets it slip how much he plans and calculates his behavior like that time gem was laughing over how unexpected the things he#says are and he was like “thats how humor works gem” and#it really seems like he spent a long time researching humor and working to incorporate new techniques and strategies!!!!#and it makes sense bc this is how he approaches everything in life#by analyzing it to death#like what was that long spiel about how repetition in building is similar to repetition in music?? these are the thoughts of someone who#overanalyzes and overthinks everything#and there is no reason to think his social strategies are any different#points at him AUTISTIC!!!!!!!!!#dying over him asking bdubs texturing questions. “why did you put that block in that exact place.” bdubs: “ohh its ... art...”

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I love Kaneki so much!!!!!! I want to do puzzles with him and watch his expression as he tries to figure out what to do with a difficult piece!!!!!! I want to paint still-lifes of the coffees he makes!!!! I want to take him to the nursery to pick out new bulbs to plant in the spring!!!!!!! I want to buy Kaneki a desk!!!!!!!!!!!
#I would paint a still life of a ghoul he’s de-kakuhoued and title it “Kaneki’s Work 5”#but I feel like he wouldn’t want a picture like that up#maybe he’d be embarrassed#what other stuff does he make#he needs to get into making bookmarks I want to see him surrounded by wavy scissors and watercolours and ribbons crafting away#oil painting of a bookmark Kaneki made. god bless him#I would say his poetry if he liked writing his own but I’m not really sure#also idk how you paint a picture of someone’s poem besides visualising it as a scene#that would be a cute idea ngl he can write something and I will draw it for him and it’s like a collaboration#I will personally go to the store and buy silk cardboard and the highest quality calligraphy paper#and select a ribbon in his favourite colour and then use the Chinese bookbinding technique to make him the nicest notebook for his writing#I’ll find some way to print a design onto the silk for the cover probably wood block but idk how silk printing works#I would find out for him#and he can have whatever design he would like for his notebook#we can have a photo shoot of him with his new book#I think Kaneki should meet an eel#kaneki time

I feel like if I had a stronger foundation in woodblock and printmaking as like a physical medium this piece would be a lot less tedious and challenging for me
#personal#but that's allllllll about mimicking the styles of physical art in a purely digital form#I am enjoying myself! but a LOT of the challenge of this piece#is wanting to mimic a specific style#knowing what makes that style recognizable and the theoretical mechanics of how that look is achieved#but having extremely limited irl experience with it#and getting hung up on the kind of. more abstract concepts of art theory and execution. I say abstract#I mean things like 'hm would this curl be this sharp or defined in this style?'#'what order would these printing blocks be layered in? (LOL. LMAO)'#'how the fuck am I going to do their stripes and have them look distinct from the shading'#etc.#and that's not even getting into what's going to come next (the lettering and design elements)#there's. a reason why a lot of my pieces take for fucking ever these days. and its not just early onset arthritis and depression#a good deal of the process is. I open a new canvas. I spend 6 hours collecting references and researching x technique I want to mimic#I tend to. do something new every time I start a piece. does not make for expeditious art

I’m still dumbfounded that over the weekend someone was dead set convinced I copied the work of and stole techniques from another cosplayer on my Ranni cosplay and like when I tried to direct them to where they could see my progress they ignored me and still called me a liar despite there being clear proof that I came up with all of my designs on my own and used my own techniques for everything like. Girlie help. Why are you trying to gotcha me when I’m being polite and showing you exactly what my work was, literally what’s going on here is I’m simply cosplaying the same character as someone else, there’s no rules against that and I’m sorry I guess apparently you’ve never picked up a sewing machine enough to tell the difference between two different skilled craftspeople’s work attempts at cosplaying the same character
#it was an absolutely unhinged moment like this person was internet yelling at me to credit the other person and I’m like well I love their#work too but you see I can’t credit them bc I didn’t use any of their techniques I used my own work in this cosplay#like. have I seen the tutorial video you’re referencing? yes of course! but I didn’t come across it until I was almost done with my own#my own costume. you know. the point where it would be impossible to steal something anyway#it’s just. the gall to insult me so much saying that it’s impossible for me to have come up with all that work by myself#I blocked the person but I’m just hoping they don’t go straight to the other cosplayer they accuse me of stealing from bc not that I’m worri#worried about them thinking I stole her techniques bc it would be painfully obvious if she saw my work that I didn’t steal anything.#I just don’t want her to have to deal with time wasting bullshit lol

If Tago and Whiskey existed in modern times, Whiskey would absolutely convince Tago that the rabies flag was the supportive straight partner pride flag and get him a shirt with it before they went to some pride event. He likes to feel included when he follows them around, and they like to cause minor problems on purpose.
#other modern au notes: Tago's horse is still named cocaine#He has an fb account he uses exclusively to post horse girl memes#Whiskey's tiktok is a business account for the saloon and there is Copious cleevage in every video#to the point a lot of people are surprised that its not a breastraunt when they go. Whiskey just likes their own tits.#Every time Tago is in one of their videos a bunch of people tell them to dump him because they're out of his league#and they do not know how to use any sites block feature. just the age old technique of cyber bullying via massive sock puppet armies#Whiskey is a successful business owner. Tago is trying his best but is basically just their sugar baby at this point#He is still inexplicably a cowboy.

Fr tho I’ve always loved creating things and was always exited to try new mediums but at a certain point I HATED art classes at my school cuz it was just the whole class doing the same thing the same way

Once a little boy went to school. One morning The teacher said: “Today we are going to make a picture.” “Good!” thought the little boy. He liked to make all kinds; Lions and tigers, Chickens and cows, Trains and boats; And he took out his box of crayons And began to draw.
But the teacher said, “Wait!” “It is not time to begin!” And she waited until everyone looked ready. “Now,” said the teacher, “We are going to make flowers.” “Good!” thought the little boy, He liked to make beautiful ones With his pink and orange and blue crayons. But the teacher said “Wait!” “And I will show you how.” And it was red, with a green stem. “There,” said the teacher, “Now you may begin.”
The little boy looked at his teacher’s flower Then he looked at his own flower. He liked his flower better than the teacher’s But he did not say this. He just turned his paper over, And made a flower like the teacher’s. It was red, with a green stem.
On another day The teacher said: “Today we are going to make something with clay.” “Good!” thought the little boy; He liked clay. He could make all kinds of things with clay: Snakes and snowmen, Elephants and mice, Cars and trucks And he began to pull and pinch His ball of clay.
But the teacher said, “Wait!” “It is not time to begin!” And she waited until everyone looked ready. “Now,” said the teacher, “We are going to make a dish.” “Good!” thought the little boy, He liked to make dishes. And he began to make some That were all shapes and sizes.
But the teacher said “Wait!” “And I will show you how.” And she showed everyone how to make One deep dish. “There,” said the teacher, “Now you may begin.”
The little boy looked at the teacher’s dish; Then he looked at his own. He liked his better than the teacher’s But he did not say this. He just rolled his clay into a big ball again And made a dish like the teacher’s. It was a deep dish.
And pretty soon The little boy learned to wait, And to watch And to make things just like the teacher. And pretty soon He didn’t make things of his own anymore.
Then it happened That the little boy and his family Moved to another house, In another city, And the little boy Had to go to another school.
The teacher said: “Today we are going to make a picture.” “Good!” thought the little boy. And he waited for the teacher To tell what to do. But the teacher didn’t say anything. She just walked around the room.
When she came to the little boy She asked, “Don’t you want to make a picture?” “Yes,” said the little boy. “What are we going to make?” “I don’t know until you make it,” said the teacher. “How shall I make it?” asked the little boy. “Why, anyway you like,” said the teacher. “And any color?” asked the little boy. “Any color,” said the teacher. And he began to make a red flower with a green stem.
~Helen Buckley, The Little Boy
#like. part of me understood that it was about learning the technique and that’s why we all did the same thing#but the other more powerful part of me was like ‘this is ART CLASS why am I not allowed to be creative??? so#I feel at the end of the day if you HAVE to get a bunch of kids to do something in a specific way to teach them better you can#BUT then you give them the majority of that block of time to do it their way. for practical purposes likely just tell them what medium#to use then say ‘go nuts’ or eventually the reverse where you go ‘okay today we will be depicting ______. pick a medium and go nuts’#like I get it. I do. for purely practical reasons it makes sense. but you gotta let people go nuts with their creativity#or they will resent what you are doing AND lose touch with their creativity and imagination :/

nobody needs to read your long dissertation on why you don't ship something or why you hate a certain ship
just keep it pushing man. nobody cares. nobody cares except for 1: the people who will continue the circle of negativity (who you shouldn't want to entertain anyway) and 2: those you are insulting by crapping on their ship
the solution? just keep it in your drafts or rant to your friends or TAG IT PROPERLY if you must let it out somehow
#ugh#fandom discourse#not for dc funnily enough#at least not this time#its so irritating#'i usually just block and move on'#so continue doing that !#im telling you-nobody cares about why a certain ship gives you the ick#i catch myself writing posts like that and then i remember#wish more people employed this technique
