On one hand Tik Tok ever increasing trend of censoring words that may be deemed inappropriate by an algorithm is deeply concerning and is having a profound impact o how younger people engage with these topics
On the other hand Sesbian Lex is the funniest phrase I have ever read

Pro-Palestinian Censorship
The mass censorship of Palestinian and Pro-Palestinian voices is unacceptable. From Tiktok (who has confirmed it's not their algorithm that makes people support Palestine, tiktokers just DO support Palestine) to Tumblr (who has repeatedly censored tags relating to Palestine) we have seen mass & constant censorship.
It was only until recently (read: when Israel got taken to court for genocide charges) that Palestine-related tags stopped being censored. Why is talk about Palestine's genocide censored, while Ukraine tags get to lounge in the "staff picks" section?
It's performative. Tumblr (the company) does NOT care about Ukraine and would cheer on the bloodshed in Palestine. The people of these platforms, however, have made their stance clear.
Free Palestine and fuck you, @staff

I’m begging tiktok censorship words to stop leeching onto other platforms. Someone talking about something so serious typing “unalived” instead of died, passed away, or censoring s*x, seggs is driving me NUTS I can’t keep doing this

Guys, y'all know that you don't have to completely censor yourself on Tumblr, right?
Yes, Tumblr has a few words it'll flag, but you saying something like homophobes or pedophiles or suicide isn't going to get you flagged like TikTok.
I'm sorry, but typing p3d0ph1l3s or t3rfs is unnecessary. You shouldn't be censoring yourself like that. It makes it very easy for you to forget that censorship, especially centered around language, is bad because you find it so natural to you.
Say pedophile.
Say homophobe.
Say terf.
Say suicide.
Say all of that shit with your whole chest because the way people censor today is getting out of hand. It shouldn't be normal, and even expected, to do it outside of a platform like TikTok.

okay, so… thinking abt this further because i saw the most egregious examples of this today on youtube and the sheer disgust has just not left me quite yet.
i hate, hate, hate all the stupid little tiktok censorship words/phrases with a passion. like, they genuinely invoke some kind of rage in me if the context is serious enough. it really wouldn’t matter much if they were contained to that app (bc i simply don’t have it anymore), but w the way ts has spread… downright demonic.
and i know why it’s, like, a thing. because yadda yadda your videos get shadowbanned yadda yadda they get taken down. ok yeah. whatever. sucks for yall.
but if you’re gonna come onto another platform that doesn’t do all that mess and start throwing ts around there… you have zero business talking abt whatever it is you’re dancing around at all. none whatsoever.
like i literally do not care if that ‘affects your reach’ anywhere else. that doesn’t matter. it literally doesn’t. suck it up! because at the end of the day, that is absolutely not an excuse to come into, like, the comments section of a news report of a real life crime and say shit like ‘the victim was lured to her unaliving’ or ‘the unaliver’s father is a convicted grapist pdf file so(ffender) arrested for possession of corn-’ like it’s normal and a-okay and doesn’t absolutely make light of a real, horrific situation.
you can argue for intent all you want, or go with the ‘ohhh but it’ll get censored’ excuse, but there’s just no way that discussing the details of actual abuse/crimes with a vocabulary straight out of r/boneappletea to try and dance around the matter won’t come across as minimizing.

Why does TikTok censor the word GAY in comments as if it’s a discriminatory term?!?!? My comment got automatically deleted for “violating community guidelines” bc I wrote the word GAY 🥴

The fact that there are people denying that pro-Palestinian content is being suppressed absolutely baffles me cause just today I encountered on TT 3 videos to where I couldn’t comment or like cause they were “under review” and were then taken down. And that’s not the first time this happens. Back in 2020 TT was taking down videos about the BLM. Which is hilarious cause Zionists will claim that we support Palestine only because it’s mainstream, but simultaneously they don’t allow it to be mainstream. All the publicity it has gotten was through hard work and people reposting about it so much that the algorithm can’t keep up with it.

if tiktokers and the like refuse to say die/death/murder/kill/suicide can they at least say clever stand-ins instead of "unalive"
reblog with your funny little words to stand in for the naughty bad words (bonus if they're banned words other than concepts of death, just provide a translation)

I'm testing tiktok's censorship (since calls to action are shifting comments a bit) after over a month of being in baby jail and help?!?!

One thing that's really ridiculous about tiktok (that also spread to youtube bc people who talk about that stuff get demonotized) style of censorship for words related to death and sex and rape is that there are plenty of already existing words and phrases that aren't stupid sounding. If you can't say "they killed themself" ir "they committed suicide", why can't you just say "they took/ended their own life"? Doesn't that sound much better than saying someone "committed S" or ""unalived themself""? If you're allowed to say the word "Sex" then you can say phrases like "sexual assault" instead of saying someone "was R'ed". Mainly my issue is with words around death because even if there are stupid restrictions on what words you can and can't use, if you're being respectful to the subject matter at hand, you have to use respectful language when you can
