Hello!!! Hi! Hey. So, I am going to post a story within the month!!! Woo! I know, crazy. Unfortunately, it is not a Tony Stark story. I know a lot of you are here for the man, that is Mr. Stark. But I put so much pressure on myself to update that I needed to stretch my wings elsewhere before coming back to a WIP. I'm working on a Thorin/reader one shot... maybe two. A lil bit of after the battle angst/love story! But a HEA! And I should have it done within the month! i’ve seen gimleaf fics where they each try to find out how to court by the other’s traditions. and i love those, so i think they ought to be taken a step further. and i think the way to do that would be, naturally, to make bagginshield real. allow me to explain why. ahem. after the ring is destroyed, girlfailure legolas spends two weeks poring over The Ancient Texts and stressing because his one (1) friend who WOULD help him (that’s aragorn) knows jack shit about dwarves beyond the surface (no pun intended) (well gandalf knows things but gandalf is a bitch) (he would just smile at legolas knowingly and wish him good luck instead of giving him answers).

so alas, girlfailure “shit tier ass elf” legolas is left to like, idk, sulk or something in the garden he starts at the Bestie Residence in minas tirith. and after like 2 days sam’s had enough he’s like “dude your vibes are upsetting the plants.” and legolas is like “my bad bro. it just seems i know nothing about dwarves which i probably should’ve thought about before, by elf standards, getting hitched in vegas.” and sam is like “oh dwarves? just ask mister frodo ^_^ he knows tons about dwarves!” and legolas is like “what the shit? him in particular? why does he anything about dwarves?” and sam leans in reaaaalllllll close and whispers behind his hand, “well you see mister elf, mister legolas, sir, there’s always been a very healthy amount of rumors that go around in the shire about mister frodo’s uncle, mister bilbo, and the letters he used to exchange with a certain king under the mountain.” and legolas, who was THERE, is like

Currently on a mission to save Boromir and the Durins in SotWK-verse.

The Crazy Plot Chicken (CPC) that lays Idea Eggs in my chaotic writer's brain is hard at work today, advising me how I can defy Professor Tolkien revise book canon so that Boromir and the Durins (Thorin, Kili, and Fili) survive and live on in the SotWK universe and timeline.

Normally, I pride myself on being "canon compliant". In starting out "Sons of the Woodland King", I had planned on following the plots of LOTR and The Hobbit as closely as possible. I try very hard to fit my headcanons and original characters and concepts into Tolkien's world they way he wrote and intended for it to be. (Which is why I am just terrible at Modern AU and crossovers.)

However, I love my friends who love Boromir, and I love my friends who love the Durins, more than I care about being canon-compliant. I would like to build a world where they can happily read about their beloved blorbos living their best lives to ripe old ages. I refuse to kill these beautiful men, and if I can grab the opportunity to save them, why not?? Happy endings for the canons!

I will save all the tragedies and "realistic" angst for the Thranduilions, because letting personal OCs suffer is totally just what writers do. Hehe.

Now that I am expanding my LOTR story repertoire to more characters, I am very excited to weave Boromir/Gondor/Men and Thorin/Durin's Sons/Erebor into the tapestry of Thranduil/Legolas/Mirkwood! Middle-earth races unite!

I am looking forward to crushing the Woodland Realm's reputation for being selfish and isolationist, and of Thranduil being cold and ruthless, once and for all.

Uncle Thorin headcanons nobody can dissuade me from, part 2: young uncle Thorin

(part 1), (Dwalin)

during Dís' pregnancies he acts like a rock for her and her nervous husband, while he is secretly terrified when she goes into labour

he weeps the first time he gets to hold his nephews (and the 10 times afterwards)

he handles Fíli like a bomb in the beginning, because he is scared of accidently dropping or hurting him

after Fíli is weaned and Kíli is born, Dís and her husband have a hard time, since Kíli is a very restless baby. To give them some more breathing room, little Fíli spends the next few years in a sling tied around Thorin's chest and accompanies him everywhere. Thorin is more than a little sad, when this time ends, but fortunately soon Kíli is weaned and then Thorin gets to carry him around everywhere

he gives them cute nicknames. Fíli is his jewel and Kíli his gem.

he goes into crisis mode whenever one of the lads coughs more than once (fortunately Óin is very patient)

when Fíli and Kíli are small, they often climb into his bed at night, for example when they are cold or scared. It usually ends with Thorin waking up with at least one of Kíli's feet in his face or an elbow in his gut

he cuddles the two all the time and after little Gimli is born, he gets the same treatment

whenever all of them get together, Thorin usually ends up with three Dwarflings on his lap. (he found a way to stack them. Dís doesn't know what to think about that)

the only reason Fíli and Kíli don't call him adad is the fact, that Thorin would never claim that title out of respect for his late brother-in-law

when they are all of a sudden grown-ups, he sorely misses the time when they were small enough to sit on his knee or come running for a hug

he has a box hidden under his bed with his nephews' old things. He gets a little misty-eyed whenever he looks at their tiny baby boots. (one time he shows them to Dwalin, which ends with both of them sobbing. They don't speak of this afternoon)

he is in general a lot more affectionate and caring with them than on the quest, which is one of the reasons Fíli and Kíli are disturbed by his behaviour starting in mirkwood
