(reference to The Boys: Due to moving at supersonic speeds, A-Train needs to consume a high number of calories in order to have enough energy to perform such feats. While it is stated that A-Train needs 3,000 calories an hour)

The Pan-Dimensional Frisbee - pt 1.

I decided to list out all the hidden references / easter eggs I included in this story bc I had too much fun with it and I wanted to make sure anyone who was curious could see hahaha. So, if you'd like a deep dive into my pop-culture obsession... read below

Chapter One Title: "Across the Potterverse"

“We could be anywhere . We could die! Or worse, I could be fired,” Hermione said, fumbling with the grey frisbee now that she’d been shielded from the mud.  “Do I need to say it again?” Ron demanded.

 “there could be a universe out there that’s every bit the same as ours, except that shrimp don’t exist, or a universe where only shrimp exist—“

“What is he, then?” Ron asked. Hermione just frowned, focusing on the PDF again, and biting her lips to bite back the word. “Say it,” Ron said. “Out loud.” “Vampire,” Hermione said.

Hermione picked up a stack of papers, and read aloud, “Hogwarts Paper Company. We never let sleeping dragons lie.”

Where their fingers had once been, were now, what looked to be, wands . They were jointed where all the knuckles should have been, and ended in a familiar pointed tip. Wooden fingers, like a puppet’s.

Harry had never seen in the Hogwarts he knew. There were glass boxes erupting from turrets, like strange additional rooms and spaces. Instead of the gargoyles at the front, large whirring metal cameras turned on a constant swivel, and the grounds, instead of being empty and sprawling, were filled with strange looking obstacle courses that reminded Harry of an old muggle war movie he’d seen. 

She placed the aluminium packet on the table, and a glass dome rolled over it. Only a second later, the dome rolled away, and a full sandwich, alongside a fresh looking salad, appeared where the aluminium had been.

"don’t think I’d marry Cho. I mean, she’s lovely and all, but, no."

"Are we all still going to Nox’s afterwards?” Draco asked. “You still owe me a glass of Prosecco.” (this is a reference to an author i absolutely adore, NoxNoir :) I wanted to put them in the story in a fun little way. @ghostofnoir)

Chapter 2: Once More, With Feeling

You are about to enter another dimension… existing beyond time and space, and directly parallel to the universe of our previous story, a perfect identical match, except for one significant difference:

"Scared, Potter?” Draco asked. “You wish.”

Because right outside, instead of the ordinary muggle street he was sure he’d find, Harry saw the surface of the moon. (so, I decided to use inspiration from the movie Zathura for this dimension, and this dimension is actually supposed to be like a parallel universe travellers' like "safe zone" lmao. So if Harry and Draco just stayed there, they would have been fine. And it's why the fridge was covered in magnets... they were magnets from parallel universes)

On close inspection, they looked to be the sort of souvenir magnets typically sold in airports. All of them sported the name of some city, places like Los Cabos, Boston, Tokyo, and Frankfurt. Alongside places with names such as The Republic of Gilead, and Panem, that Harry wasn’t sure were real, as far as he was aware. However, the most shocking one of all was surely the one that said Diagon Alley, in glittery silver lettering, which Harry found himself staring at for several seconds. 

His hair, still that same platinum blond, was spiked up, in a way that reminded Harry of some singer whose name he couldn’t remember. (this is a double reference, lmao, because it's a reference to my main canon rewrite series where a character frequently compares Draco to the singer Billy Idol) (which is actually a reference to how Spike in Buffy gets compared to Billy Idol / Spike is a character whose redemption arc/enemies-to-lovers arc i find to have a lot in common w/ what I want for Draco)

“You know,” Harry said, steps slow, “I think we’re in London. And I think… I think that’s David Bowie—” (This is probably the most self-indulgent reference on the list lmao. Bc.... this universe is actually a universe from another fic I've written for another fandom lmao...)

“Two Blue Lagoons,” he said, the first name he landed on. ... "Well?” Harry asked as Draco grimaced. “How is it?” “Tastes like a hangover,” Draco said. (this is referencing a line from that fic--- "Eddie does get their next drinks. Blue shots called Blue Lagoons that taste full of sugar and the promise of a hangover.")

"Hey, hey, settle a bet for me, woudja?” the man asked, accent so American it almost hurt. “See my buddy over there,” he said, pointing with his thumb over his shoulder to some other man, who looked, from what Harry could guess, embarrassed, “he’s all outta wack because a few of your fellow countrymen ruffled his feathers, talking about werewolves in the moors. I told him they were just a bunch of hot air, but I think it’s still bugging him. So, I just thought I’d get a second opinion—-confirm that’s just something you say to mess with tourists, ain’t it?” the man said, finally finishing the sudden diatribe. (like I said, this is one of the main characters from that other fic of mine.... which is another doubled reference I'm so sorry lmao...) (because that fic was inspired by the opening of An American Werewolf in London... so this is the context)

“Besides,” Draco said, dropping his voice to a whisper that made Harry lean in to hear him, “there are pixies in the moors.”

“Pixies,” the man said, when his laughter finally subsided. “Ain’t that the name of a band?” (this is a reference to a line Richie says in my other fic: "Rumors? Ain’t that a Fleetwood Mac album?” Richie asks.)

"And then, to Harry’s horror, Hannah began to sing. "I’ve got a theory that it’s a demon… a dancing demon,” she sang, “ no something isn’t right there. ”

Chapter 3: Ron of the Dead

"You've... you've got red on you," Draco said, pointing to a swipe of red—blood, probably— on Harry's hand.

 “Oh… name was Brian. Brian Dumbledore”

I've seen a lot of posts on my feed complaining about how Loki isn't "bad boy" Loki anymore. And "new" Loki is too soft. That it's Tom with black hair, and not actually Loki.

Guys, LOKI ALWAYS HAS BEEN SOFT. Thor 1, momma's boy, desperate for daddy's approval, our sweet prince playing pranks, cheering on his brother, and riding his horse with a big boyish smile.

It's his life, finding his life has been a lie and all the internal racism that turned him hard, and angry. Drove him to suicide and anger and into thanos's torturous hands.

Then he gets captured by the TVA, finds out his mother died, his whole home planet blew up, and literally witnessed his own death. That is such a mind fuck. And he's also so smart! We know this, so of course he is going to play along to buy his time.

But in the end he sees the same anger in Sylvie (as much as I don't like her character, but that's more personal) and he knows it gets no where and in this situation it would do more harm that good.

The man is desperate for love and understanding. Always has been.

Loki's always been soft and I will die on that hill.

So I'm writing on my phone again.

2nd crossover since the way the reader goes to the village is different.

As a Goddess, you've learned how to be adored. Specially since you have two older brothers and an older sister. Being the youngest is not easy because all of them were overprotective as hell.

Surprisingly, one of them is more lenient than the others. That was Thor. He was also the one who encouraged you to join the Avengers. And you did. On impulse.

And you killed Thanos too. In anger.

But now after the war for Earth is over. You've found yourself more bored than usual... You should be glad that there's peace but damn it. You need to do something or else it'll kill you inside.

"Damn it." You cursed for nth time that day since you just spent hours just looking at the ocean. It did make you calm... But damn were you itching for something to do.

"What's wrong, Y/N?" You look over to Hela. You were one of the reasons why she agreed to stay alive rather than to rule Asgard and die. You were also the one who convinced both Loki and Thor to keep her alive.

"I'm bored. I wanna go somewhere."

"Like a trip?" You hum then nod.

"A long one, perhaps."

"Where, exactly?" You roll your eyes.

"Hela. I'm over a thousand years old already! Stop being so overprotective! Damn it!" She sighs in defeat.

"Can I check in sometimes then?" You cross your arms and raise an eyebrow at her. She looks away.

"How often exactly?" She whistles. "Hela!"

"Fine! Once a month?" You growl.

"No! A year! Once a year! For fuck's sake! You don't even check in with Thor nor Loki!"

"I know! Because they're idiots! But you're my-" You stop her.

"Yes! I know! Little sister. For my sake, stop being overprotective... How would you even check in on me?" You mumble the last sentence but Hela still somehow heard.

"Phones?"

You crack your neck as you hike. Four years. It's been four years since you've been to this new world. And as you and Hela agreed on, she had only checked in on you four times.

"Whoa." You can't help but stop as you take in the view. It was amazing. You were on a mountain and decided on the edge. There were four places on this village that you stumbled upon.

"An Iron Tower??" You mumble as you get your binoculars and confirm that yes, it was an iron tower. You check the next place and smile. It was a house on a hill. You hum as you lay your eyes on the Water Wheel. "Hell yeah!!" You shout as you see the next place. It was a castle. You live on Earth now and Asgard was no more. And it's good, to be among your people... But you sometimes miss living in a castle. To have rooms so big that your siblings cannot find you. Where you know all the secret passageways and exits to every room.

You squeal then jump over the edge. Thankfully, your body could take it as you land with a thud. You dust yourself off as you look around the village. It was very lively and there were many people around. You see an entrance and tilt your head.

Was that the entrance to the castle? Someone notices you and chuckles.

"Hello, dear." You flinch and turn to the old lady. You bow slightly and greet back.

"Hello, ma'am." You were a Goddess, yes. You are adorned not only by asgardians but people on Earth as well. It doesn't mean you don't know proper manners or how to be polite.

"Are you travelling here or looking to stay?" You scratch your head as you chuckle nervously.

"The jury's still out on that one, ma'am."

"There are four places that is owned by the four lords of the village."

"Lords??" You knew people in Europe still had titles and such. But still, it was weird to call someone a lord when you're a Goddess.

"Yes. The Iron Tower belongs to Lord Heisenberg. The House On The Hill belongs to Lady Beneviento. The Water Wheel belongs to Lord Moreau. And finally, the Castle whose gate you were eyeing belongs to the Lady Dimitrescu."

"Dimitrescu." You mumble then look at the gate again. And as if on cue, every hair on your body stands up and you turn. You see a man with a hat who smirks at you.

"A foreigner! What joy! You just arrived haven't you?" You nod.

"I'm Heisenberg. Just call me Karl." You raise an eyebrow at his offered hand.

"I thought you were a lord? Are you sure you don't want me t-"

"Just Karl is fine... after all, you're a guest." You sigh.

"Okay, Karl. I have to go then."

"Oh? Already exploring?"

"Yep." You smirk. "To that Castle, to be precise."

First nile is the only one who has grown up with halloween, and as i’ve seen the way the united states does halloween is just so much MORE than in other countries, so the others probably haven’t celebrated it much in any kind of way

And nile LOVES halloween, grew up making costumes with her mom and brother and she loves the classic costumes, ghosts, witches, vampires, etc. and she is GOOD at making them and finding just the right things to make them

Except now nile has a resource she didn’t have previously, these ancient ass motherfuckers

She’s a HUGE fucking art/art history nerd, and now at her disposal are four immortals who have a combined over 8,000 years of life on this earth so her costume potential has just skyrocketed

Nile now has the opportunity to dress as any and all historical art figures she wants with COMPLETE accuracy (assuming at least some of the guard met that person - which they’ve definitely met lots of them)

Nicky and joe are absolute GIDDY with the idea of matching costumes, and a serious thank you to kayla for blessing us with the image of them wearing matching abba costumes

But also imagine nicky and joe doing the thing where one of them is an artist and the other goes as one of their works, like van gogh and his self portrait OR pls imagine joe going as michelangelo and nicky going as the david (because listen nicky was the inspiration behind it) or also alexandre cabanel and nicky as the painting of lucifer (it’s the EYES)

But also: decade costumes. They love to reminisce about old fashions and what the world was like and what they were doing at the time, and you know joe probably has several pieces of clothing from various eras tucked away somewhere so when they get the change they go FULL on with the costumes, down to the last detail

However i will die on the hill that nicky LOVES pun costumes, like imagine them as ‘ice ice baby’ with their cat (cattulus because i remember the cat hcs hegel lol) as the baby 

Also pls imagine them or andy and quynh as gomez and morticia addams

Quynh goes dramatic as hell, full on makeup and prosthetics. Like nile, she’s a halloween QUEEN, and loves the sexy scary route, vampires, ghostly warrior, zombies, etc. whatever it is she will KILL it. Loves the scary face makeup with the scratches and blood everywhere

She also probably loves the holiday and loves to scare the rest of the guard, so far she’s scared nicky the most though they now are teaming up to get booker

Loves anything that will make andy SPEECHLESS and anything where she can wear heels

Nile and quynh are a force to be reckoned with about halloween, they prepare MONTHS in advance, buying what they need and taking the time to make their costumes perfect and they WILL show you the fuck up at any party with their skill and beauty

Andy does like the holiday but she will only wear something where she can carry a weapon, bonus if the weapon is her axe but she’ll settle for a sword

Loves to do pirates or warriors, and like nile will occasionally take the historical route and go as joan or arc or artemisia or the like and gets quynh to go as Lady Triệu (which who is to say that wasn’t her in the first place)

Gets at least a little drunk wherever they go and will sword fight someone, too bad for the other person for not realizing her sword is real though

Quynh always helps her with her costume, but andy prefers a more relaxed approach and will sometimes just choose old armor she has and go with that

Booker is the wild card of the bunch

He’ll act like this is all silly but LOVES watching everyone dress up and have fun

Some years he’ll be lazy and throw on jeans and a cowboy hat and that’ll be it, one year he went a little wild and did a brown leather jacket and was indiana jones (which i’d love to see)

He’ll try many times to see what he can do with the clothes he has, instead of going for a whole costume - even going as james bond with a suit he had

A favorite of his is going as famous athletes, soccer or american football, HOCKEY (he’s fucking BUILT for it ok)

Also i firmly believe he went as batman one year in a full batsuit and he LOVED it

Lykon��s gonna be included too, but i think he’d be relatively laid back about his costume. Not going quite as lazy as booker, but he choose simple over the all the makeup and stuff. I think he’d love to do SUPER cheesy classic costumes, a sheet for a ghost, big fangs and a cloak for a vampire, etc. or sometimes as a surfer or something where he can wear hawaiian shirts because i think he would’ve loved them. He mostly just wants to have a good time with his family and focus more on that

now we can also talk group costumes in which i am extremely partial to them going as the scooby doo gang, because this is one of my fav fanarts and nicky going as scooby is the funniest shit ever 

Also you just KNOW they went as the avengers or star wars characters or some shit at least at one point in their lives (idk anything about star wars so)

For your consideration: quynh as black widow, andy as hulk, nicky as the winter soldier (the HAIR and the EYES), joe as nomad steve or falcon, booker as thor (they would all make so much fun of his wig because of course they’re gonna make him do the long hair look), and nile as the scarlett witch because she's that POWERFUL

Synopsis: The twins are now three and while the Avengers know that Clint and Thor are the biological father’s none of them know or care which blond, blue-eyed baby is related to which man.  When Riley gets the power to control wind and it becomes evident that she is the heir to the Asgardian throne, Elly, Steve, Thor, and Tony take the twins to Asgard to train her.

Not every Asgardian is happy with their king’s choice of consort, nor the impurity of the heir’s blood.  While others expect Thor to make things more official.  What’s clear is, the role of Queen of Asgard is not easily filled.

Chapter 16: Reunited

Our moment of relaxed contentment didn’t last too long.  By the end of the same day, Thor had come clean about the Fenestare, which had led to a long argument about whether it was okay to even participate in a battle to the death, how dangerous it was, and how it put the rest of us at risk too.

Tony wanted to leave.  Even the tiniest risk to the kids’ safety and he was on edge.  And so far there had been a lot of those.  Steve wasn’t so sure if we should leave.  If Thor was so determined to do this, he wanted to be there to support him.  He was very vocal about the fact that he did not think Thor should do it on moral terms.

Nothing was changing Thor’s mind though, so we spent the following day, highly strung as he prepared for the fight.  Tony dragged Steve to the lab to finish the bots and Thor had made me and the kids follow him around all day.  They were tired and cranky as we went back to his royal chambers.  Pietro was curled up in my arms and Riley was throwing herself around in Thor’s rather dramatically when Sif stormed in.

“Why was I informed, immediately upon arrival that there is going to be a Fenestare?”  She asked, squaring up to Thor and poking him in the chest.  “It’s like this place doesn’t function when I’m not here.”

I couldn’t even pretend I cared about what Sif had to say about the Fenestare.  I was too excited she was back.  If she was back it meant the others might be here too.  “Did you bring them?”

“Yes,” Sif said.  “I took them to your chambers.  They are settling in.”

I whined and looked at Thor.  He handed me Riley and pressed a kiss to my forehead.  “Volstagg, could you please escort the Lady Elise to the others.”

“Of course,”  Volstagg said and gestured to the door.

“And I will stay here and attempt to slap some sense into our King,” Sif said.

I followed Volstagg down to our chambers carrying both the kids and when I stepped inside I found them all looking high strung and pacing the room.

“You’re going to need to explain what’s going on fast,” Wanda said.  “I’m starting to lose them.”

“Hey, hey, hey,”  I said putting the kids down.  They both immediately started bouncing and jogging on the spot like they wanted to run to the rest of their family but couldn’t decide who they should run to first.  “Why do you guys always have to go so negative?”

“Because an alien shows up, demands we all come here, and the mind-reader immediately jumps on board,” Natasha said folding her arms in front of her.  “That’s suspicious.”

“Can one of you indicate to your kids to come to them, they’re about to explode,” I said.  “The rest of you take a seat.”

“Who wants Daj?”  Wanda asked crouching down and opening her arms.  Riley charged over to her and slammed into her.  I crouched and pointed to Clint and Pietro ran over to him and immediately started scaling him.

Almost everyone took a seat in the couches.  Bucky, Natasha, and Bruce couldn’t seem to settle though, and the three of them kept pacing the room.

“Okay… so, there’s been a little descension here that Thor was unaware of the extent of.  A section of his people believe he was too young for the job, but originally there was no other choice but him or Loki and he was the preference.  So they would make him jump through hoops and he’d do it.  Only now a faction claiming there are two older siblings.  They believe that the firstborn son should be ruling and not Thor and are causing some trouble.  A few things have happened.”  I explained as I sat forward on the couch.

“There’s a what?”  Natasha asked.

“Brother.  Though there has been no actual sign of him.  There is a claim he was kidnapped and raised by the rulers of one of the other realms in the hope to put him in charge of Asgard and then they would rule the nine realms.”  I answered.

“You said some things happened?”  Bucky asked.  He was flexing his metal hand and looked as close to being the soldier as I’d seen him in a long time.

“There was an attempt to kidnap and murder Riley and I,” I said.  “A guard and a woman from that other realm attacked us.”

“And where are they now?”  Bucky asked in a completely flat and rather terrifying tone.

“In prison.  Loki has been dealing with them.”

“I want to see them.” Bucky seethed looking at the door.

“That is not a good idea,” Loki said, coming into the room followed by Fandral.

“It’s also not why you’re here,”  I added.

Bucky wheeled back to me.  “What?  There’s more?”

“Yeah,” I said with a nod.  “It’s about the hoops he’s having to jump.  Right now he’s preparing for a fight to the death he has to participate in.  Though that is also not why you’re here.  When we got here, we were almost forced to … well, marry him.  He has to be bonded with someone to rule if he has a child.  Without telling him or us they were going to force the ceremony.  He managed to get them to give us two weeks.  I couldn’t do it without you guys at least knowing about it.  But… and I guess I’m proposing for him right now.  He’d like it to be all of you.”

“A what?”  Natasha asked.  “And a what?”

“Deathmatch.  Wedding.”  I said counting them off on my fingers. “And -”  I took a breath and huffed, blowing my hair off my brow.  “- the thing about the wedding is… it will mean our life expectancies change.  They will all be pulled in line with Thor’s.”

“Can you boil that down just a wee bit for my dumb brain?”  Clint asked as he cuddled with Pietro.

“The ceremony is called bonding.  It doesn’t change the rules of the relationship.  It just means we are bonded to Thor.  And each other.  We will have a special connection.  For those of us like me who are going to get the usual 78 years most likely, we will now get closer to 5000.  For Bucky, Steve, maybe you B, and you Nat.  You’ll live significantly less.  Plus Thor will be promised to you.  You won’t ever have to worry about being alone.  So… we don’t all have to do it.  But he has to do it with someone.  If you don’t want to that’s okay, but we all need to agree on who does and if that’s okay.”

“Is there a place I can go to punch things?”  Bucky asked in a low voice.

I looked over at Loki, but Volstagg stepped forward.  “Let me take you to the training arena.”  He said.  “Is there anyone else that would like to work out their tension?”

Natasha raised her hand.  Volstagg indicated to the door with his ax and the three of them headed out together.

Sam moved over and wrapped his arm around me and I melted into him.  “I missed you guys.”

“How have you been doing, sweetie?”  Wanda asked rubbing my leg.

“I guess you could say I’ve been a little bit stressed,” I said.

Sam rubbed my arm and kissed the top of my head.  “That’s totally understandable, princess.”  He said.  “You’re safe and we’re all here.”

“What about you, my darlings?  Have you been having fun?”  Wanda asked the kids.

“Uncle Woki has a big wibwawy,” Pietro answered.

“Yeah?  How big?”  Clint asked.

Pietro stretched his arms up over his head.  “Is big.  So many.”

“Piet, you should tell daddy about what Fandral has been teaching you,” I said.

Pietro stood up on Clint’s thighs and started jumping.  “Daddy!  Daddy!”  He said excitedly and then started babbling so fast that it was hard to make out any words.

“Buddy.  Buddy, slow down.”  Clint said, holding Pietro’s hands.

“Dere’s a pony, daddy.  I rided da pony.”  He squealed.

“Oh, really?”  Clint asked.

“Fandral was teaching him to ride while Thor taught Riley how to use her powers,” I explained.

“That sounds like a lot of fun, buddy,” Clint said, and Pietro slammed himself against him and nuzzled into his neck.  “So… the immortality thing.”

“I don’t know what to do.  I worry about him.”  I said poking Pietro.

“Well, maybe he falls in love with an Asgardian,” Clint said.  “Or maybe Earth Science can cure diseases.”

“Or maybe we have to watch him age and then die and we’ll just be stuck like this,” I said, frowning.

“Well, yeah,” Clint said and kissed the top of Pietro’s head.  “I dunno.  Still don’t really see it as a problem.”

“You want to do it?”  I asked.  “Just like that?”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know,” I said, furrowing my brow.  “It’s huge.  It means a lot.”

“Why don’t you talk us through it, honey?”  Sam asked.

“We’ll have to watch everyone we know die.  That means probably Piet.  Hill, Coulson, Scott, Rhodey, Clarke.”  I said.  “It means that all the shit we deal with on Earth could get worse because we will always just be there.  We might stop even being able to relate to people or form proper bonds with them.  They might start thinking we’re gods too.”

“Where did that fear even come from?”  Sam asked.

“I don’t know.  Anne Rice?”

Sam chuckled and Clint shook his head.  “So, fiction?  Have you tried actually talking to someone who has experience with that kind of thing?”  Clint asked.

“What like Thor?  The god of thunder?”  I snarked.

“Well, what about that guy?”  Clint asked, gesturing to Fandral.

“I’m afraid I’m not a good example,” Fandral said with a small bow.  “I have lived a normal life for what is expected on Asgard.  I have seen my elders die but I haven’t had to outlive any of my peers.  At least not in terms of watching them grow old.  I’ve lost friends in battle.”

“Oh,” Clint said.

“There is a chance that young Loki here may outlive us all.  The stories say there are celestials who existed before existence.  There is only one known case of their death and the skull is now the homeworld of many people.  Then came the All fathers.  The Ice Giants came with them.  They were violent and burned a path through the universe before them.  Then Odin was born of the Allfathers.  That was when the universe began to settle.  Other worlds grew and their own life forms formed with their own life spans.  But here on Asgard we live thousands of years and are revered as gods.”

“Okay, but would you choose to outlive some people by millennia if you could?”  Clint asked.

Fandral approached us and took a seat next to Loki. “That seems inevitable.  People die in war.  I outlived the Valkyrie.  My parents.”

“The what?”  Clint asked.

“Valkyrie?  The warrior women?”  Fandral asked with a mixture of shock and disbelief.  “You haven't heard of them?”  When Clint shook his head, Fandral sat up straight and clapped his hands.  “A story for the little prince and princess.  Once upon a time, Odin was stretching his rule over the Nine Realms.  There was much fighting within them and he wished to restore peace and order.  He took with him an army of women who rode upon winged horses.  They were the most formidable army in all the realms.  All who they went up against fell.  Until one day there was a great battle and they were all slain.”  He explained.   “I was but a child when they existed.”  He leaned over and poked Pietro in the stomach.  “Your father wished to be a Valkyrie when he grew up.”

“You get me a horsie wif wings?”  Pietro asked.

Fandral chuckled.  “That might be possible, little prince.  But first, we learn on the non-winged kind.”

“Are they a different species?”  Clint asked.

“That’s right,”  Fandral said with a nod.  “Longer lived and stronger than the typical horse on Asgard, but no match for Odin’s former steed.”

Clint furrowed his brow like he was mulling over the story.  “Why would wings make them live longer?”

I snorted.  “Correlation, not causation, Clint.”

“If I were to guess, I would say it was because the magic runs deeper through them,”  Fandral added and turned to Loki.  “What do you think, dear?”

“I think it would be a shame if I had to put a knife into your eye,” Loki said rolling his eyes and picking at his nails.  “I just cleaned my blades.”

Fandral chuckled and poked Pietro in the belly.  “Now, now.  Your uncle is always so violent.”

Pietro giggled and wiggled in Clint’s lap.

“Where are the boys?”  Sam asked.

“Thor is being chewed out by Sif.  I think Steve and Tony are in the lab.”  I said.

Like I had summoned him, the door opened and Thor came in with Sif, followed by the chef and his carts of food.

“Woah, magic,”  I said as Riley wriggled out from Wanda’s arms and ran over to the chef.

Riley bounced on her feet as she watched the chef start sorting things out for everyone.  There was a lot more food than previously, but then there were also a lot more of us.

As he was setting up, Steve, Tony, and Hogun came in.

“Oh, hey, the rest of them,” Sam said.

“Where’s Bucky and Nat?”  Steve asked, looking around.

“Punching stuff,” Clint answered.

“You should give everyone their gifts,” I said as Steve scowled.

“Sure,” Tony said and went into the bedroom to find the bag.

“Sif, did you talk Thor out of it?”  I asked.

“I’m afraid not, my lady,” she said.  “I did try.”

Tony returned with the bag and pulled out the bow.  “This is for you, Legolas.”

Clint took it and his eyes went wide.  “It’s so light.  Feels like I’m holding a pencil.”

“It is like mine,” Sif said.  “It has a perfect balance and tension.  You will like it.”

Clint tested the balance and I took the bag off Tony and dug around in it pulling out the vambrace.  “I picked these for you,” I said giving them to Sam.

He took them and made a soft, pleased sound.  “These are nice.”  He said turning them over.

“I thought they’d match your wings if you wanted to wear them. Or they’re just pretty.  So you can put them on a shelf to look at.”  I said.

“They’re perfect.  Thank you, princess.”  He said and pulled me close nipping at my neck.

I giggled and leaned into him, passing the bag back to Tony.  He went back and pulled out the gift for Bruce and gave them to him pulling him into his arms and kissing him softly before he pressed the decorative case into Bruce’s hands.

Bruce opened them and smiled for the first time since I’d seen him here.  “These look interesting.”

“Thought you’d like them, Bear,” Tony said and nuzzled at Bruce’s neck.

Steve took the bag off Tony and took out Natasha and Bucky’s gifts and put them on a shelf out of the kids’ reach before bringing the whole bag over and giving it to Wanda.  “Everything else in there is for you, darling.”  He said.

Wanda looked at him suspiciously and then opened the bag and looked inside.  “Why is it so big?”

“Some weird magic,” Steve said.

She reached in and brought out a handful of rings, necklaces, and bracelets.  “There’s so much.”  She said, beginning to separate each piece.

“The lady who made them wanted you to have all of them.  There is a lot more in there.”  Steve said, leaning down and pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

“It’s all so beautiful,” Wanda said, smiling.  “Thank you.”

Steve gave her shoulder a squeeze.  “You’re very welcome.”

“Lunch is served.”  The chef said.

“Is good,” Riley said from her spot at the table.  A plate was already in front of her and her mouth was completely full.

“How’d you get food, bug?”  Clint asked getting up with Pietro on his hip.

Riley pointed at the chef with a piece of food she was holding in her fist.  “Dis guy.”

“I did hand her a plate.”  The chef said.  “Did I overstep, my lord?”

“Is good,” Riley said.  “You my fwiend.”

The chef chuckled.  “Thank you, princess.  You’re my friend too.”

“I assure you, Clinton.  Magnus has been working for the throne since I was a small boy.  I trust him completely.”

“Even with what happened?”  Clint asked.

“Yes.  Magnus is loyal to us.”  He said.  “And a member of our household.”

Magnus bowed and took leave of the room as everyone got up and helped themselves to food.  Pietro climbed up onto Clint’s head and ate things that were passed up to him as Clint sat at the table with Steve, Sam, Tony, and Bruce.  Wanda and I ate at the couch with Loki while Thor seemed to pace and pick at things.

“Come here, human cat.  Curl back up with me.”  Wanda said, shifting so she could eat with me tucked into her side.

I curled in and picked at the food on my plate.  “What would the bonding ceremony be like?  What can we expect?”  Wanda asked.

“Oh, we get powers.  But we don’t know what they’ll be until it’s happened.”  I said.

“I’ll have extra powers?  Like lightning?”  Wanda asked.

“They will be a reflection of both who you are and how you see yourself in your family,” Loki explained.  “For example, someone who was very protective of their family might be able to create a shield that encompasses them.”

“Oh.  I see.  I wonder what that would mean for each of us.”  Wanda said.

Loki shrugged.  “Hopefully it renders this one mute.”  He said gesturing to me.

I tried to stifle a laugh, ended up snorting and then broke down into peals of silent giggles.

Loki did his best to ignore me completely.  “The ceremony itself involves a literal binding.  A cord will be used to bind you to each other.  For the number of you, I imagine it will look like a large web.  Magic will be passed through it and you will take a sort of vision quest.  In it, you will find where you belong within the relationship and your family.  If the bonds are true and good, then you will be granted your new gift.”

“Wow. Okay.”  Wanda said and took a drink as she seemed to mull over Loki’s words.

“Does she always eat like this?”  Loki asked waving her hand vaguely at Riley.

I looked over and saw Riley completely covered in food and shoveling more into her mouth.  “Oh, yes.  She’s a hungry beast, aren’t you bug?”

She roared in response which made Wanda start giggling.

“Who raised this child to act like this?”  Bruce asked.

“We did?”  I said with a shrug.

“I think she needs to be recalibrated.”  Sam joked.

“Daddy,” Riley said, sternly.

“Oh.  You asked for it now.”  Sam said, getting up.

“No, daddy!”  She squealed.

“Yes, bug.”  He said, grabbing her around the waist and flipping her upside down.

She flailed and squealed, kicking her legs excitedly.  A soft wind began to swirl around the room.

“Just a few more minutes.”  Sam teased.  “You’re almost fixed.”

“Riley, control that wind, please,” Thor said.  She continued kicking and squealing but the wind died right off.

“Huh,”  Sam said, flipping her back over and putting her down.

“Again, daddy!”  She squealed, jumping up and down.

“She got control of it after only a couple of days?”  Sam asked.

Thor shook his head as Riley continued to jump up and down, tugging on Sam’s shirt.  “Only sometimes.  It’s important to remind her when it’s out of her control though.”

Sam caught her midjump and spun her upside down again.  She squealed in delight.   It was such a pure noise and she was so happy.  As loud as it was with everyone here I felt at peace.  Even Bruce seemed to have started to relax a little.  The only stand out person, who was not beginning to calm was Thor.  Time was ticking down to the Fenestare, and the stress of it seemed to be seeping out of his pored.

“Thor, are you okay?”  I asked.

“As I can be.”  He said in a strained tone.

“Do you want to join Wanda and I for cuddles?”  I asked.

“Yes.  I would most appreciate that.”  He said moving over to us.

“You know he is as heavy as a horse right?”  Loki asked.

“I have been under him many times, yes.”  I deadpanned as I opened my arms and Thor collapsed down into them.

Loki shook his head.  “I don’t know what I expected to happen when I said that.”  He said.  “I am old enough to know better.”

“You did kind of walk into it.”  I agreed as I began to caress Thor’s hair and neck.

Riley came over and climbed up on Thor, draping herself over him like a cat and closing her eyes.

“Do you think she understands what’s happening?”  Sam asked.

“I don’t know,” I said.

“I hope she doesn’t,” Bruce said, his voice slightly strained.

Thor shifted and closed his eyes a little, and it wasn’t long before both father and daughter were snoring lightly in the pile on my lap.

The Right Partner, pt 1

a little Loki/reader fic I started for my pal  @hopelessromanticspoonie and of course it’s too long for a one shot because I AM INCAPABLE OF ONE SHOTS. It’s a sickness.

The Avengers sure knew how to throw a party, you thought as you descended the stairs into the central hall of the Smithsonian. It helped that Tony Stark was richer than God and could hire a museum like this on the turn of a dime.

You’d been working as a PR for the team for six months now. Your job mostly consisted of monitoring the Twitter feed and making sure Thor didn’t have too much access to Instagram - he really liked posting inappropriate pictures, not realising that the world would see them.

Thank God Jane spent too much time working to engage much with social media.

The others weren’t much trouble. Clint was sweet, completely in love with his wife and kids, wrapped up in battling kid-locked devices, he understood social media and all its dangers.

Tony was the usual loudmouth but he listened when you put a monetary figure on anything. You mostly dealt with him through Pepper. She was some kind of saint.

“Hey, girl.” Natasha slinked over to you with two glasses in her hands. She wore a painted on crimson gown that fishtailed to her legs. You assessed the dress, thinking that she likely had two, no, maybe three knives sewn into that thing. Just in case.

“Tony’s pulled out all the stops, huh?” you muttered, thanking her for the glass of fizz as she passed you.

Natasha rolled her eyes. “You should have seen Pepper’s birthday party. There was an actual blimp.”

“No kidding.”

You laughter together. “To tonight.” Nat clinked her glass against yours, then wandered further into the room to explore, and stopped to talk to Maria Hill, who wore a sensational short black cocktail dress and what had to be five inch heels. That she could probably turn a perfect somersault in.

It got depressing, living with superheroes, sometimes.

Maria and Nat made a beeline for the waiters circulating with wine and canapés, but you hung back by one of the decorated bay trees. The central hall smelled, not as it usually did, of sweets and perfume and the plastic of kids’ toys, but of something other, something.... almost otherworldly. Tony had outdone himself. The space smelled of magic, of anticipation.

Of course you knew why that was. 

You were waiting for him.

And when some whisper of sixth sense made you turn her head, and the crowd parted to reveal a tall, lean man in a charcoal suit, your heart leapt into your throat.

You didn’t remember moving towards him, but your feet must have made the motions, because you found herself looking up into his forest green eyes, darkened by the softened light in the hall.

Hungrily your gaze ate him up. You’d never seen him in a suit before; but then you had never seen a man look this good in one – you’d never seen a man own a suit like Loki did this one. 

When he looked like this, it was obvious he wasn’t human. No human looked like him, his face a symphony of planes and angles, his dark hair framing cheekbones to die for, his poet’s mouth always making you think of sin.

“Hey,” you said, trying for nonchalance.

“Good evening.” His eyes flicked behind you briefly, and you turned to see Thor some feet away, making an obvious thumb up gesture. You chuckled.

Loki rolled his eyes. “My brother, ever subtle.”

You’d spoken with the Asgardian Prince a few times since he’d been allowed out of his cage by Tony. He’d even - under very close supervision by Cap - helped out on a few off-planet missions, successful one.

The jury was still out, but you liked him. He said what he thought, never pulled punches. He was acerbic and witty and sometimes he gazed at you, the fire snapping in his eyes making heat stir up in your belly.

“Loki, I-”

The chamber orchestra on the stage  - really, only Tony fucking Stark could just hire an entire orchestra for his birthday - struck up a waltz. Loki held out a hand, his palm offered. “Dance with me?”

You hesitated. He looked dark and dangerous and his voice was oh, so lyrical, and you wanted to climb him like a tree. “I didn’t know you knew how to waltz.”

His gaze locked with yours, his eyes dancing with merriment. “We do have dancing in Asgard.”

You passed your empty glass off to a waiter, then let him lead, falling into the steps of the dance, other couples slowly whirling around the two of you, the orchestra punctuated by the swish of dresses and the click of heels. “This is… nice.”

“A word you do not associate with me, judging by your tone.”

“It’s hard to equate destroying New York with “nice,”” you admitted.

Loki sighed. “As we know, I was…. Not myself during that time. I agree that I will never be, as that man child Stark terms in, a big cuddly care bear, whatever in the Nine Realms that is, but I believe I am making progress.”

“You are.”

He tilted his head, a little like a dog would when confused. “You think so. But then, you’re different. Special.”

You felt a flush creep up her neck as they turned in the dance’s slow circular movements. Loki was so tall, and solid and lean. A fantasy come to life in your arms. “Thanks. I guess. How did you get this suit? Surely Tony didn’t give it you?”

Anyone with eyes knew Loki looked good enough to eat even in his ridiculous helmet and green and black get up. In Armani, the open white shirt flirting with a triangle of his chest, he was fuckable sin personified. No way would Tony have added fuel to the walking fire that was Loki, Prince of Asgard.

He grinned, quick and wicked, making your heart thump. “I have my sources, kitten.”

You laughed. “Of course, you do. At this point, I don’t think anything at all would surprise me.” 

Loki turned you in his arms and you briefly saw Thor and Jane watching the two of you, undisguised interest on their faces. Thor looked like a walking fashion billboard in his navy suit, Jane a gorgeous pixie beside him in a fifties style silk dress, her hair scooped up with flowers.

“Reckon they’re taking bets?” you asked, smiling.

Loki dipped his head towards yours. “Do you care?”

You couldn’t think when he was this close. “No.”

The dance ended and you stood opposite each other, holding hands, your fingers interlaced. Noise and chatter and clinking glasses and music swirled around you, but your world and focus had narrowed to the unsaid words falling between your and Loki’s bodies.

You just wanted to be alone with him. To look into his bottomless green eyes and find out what you’d see reflected in their depths.

“Do you want to get out of here?” you whispered.

How did Marvel fuck up IW? That movie was gold and highly entertaining, had me on the edge of my seat the entire time... The ending wasn't pleasant off course, but honestly, it was brilliant cinema!

1. 90% of the movie was ruined by Loki’s death scene in the very beginning. I have talked multiple times about how stupid and full of plot holes that scene was, anyway, not to mention how pointless Loki’s death was in general. I’d link, but it’s 1am and I’m lazy, so you can take my word for it. 

2. Speaking of Loki’s death, though, the Russos have gone back and forth on the reason for Loki’s death - first they say it’s sacrifice for Thor, then they say it’s his punishment for disobedience, then they say it’s the conclusion of his arc, to accept himself as Thor’s brother before he dies a hero, etc. They can’t seem to figure out why Loki really died, except that they didn’t know what to do with him and killing him is convenient. 

3. Thanos’s motivation is stupid as fuck. For one thing, wiping out half of the population isn’t the logical solution to the problem. He could have used the Infinity Gauntlet to create more resources, or go back in time to before Titan died, or done any number of things that didn’t involve murdering half of the universe. He came to that particular solution because he likes murder and death and torment and torture (just look at what he did to Gamora and Nebula, whom he claimed as his children). The narrative ignores this and tries to paint Thanos as this sympathetic villain who “maybe has a point,” which is not only illogical but also kind of gross. Not to mention, the Russos said that the Snap got rid of half of the plants and animals, as well as people, anyway - meaning there is now exactly the same proportion of people to resources and Thanos accomplished absolutely nothing. 

4. The movie is full of plot holes. Just to name a few: in Thor Ragnarok, Dr. Strange says he keeps a “watch list” of potential threats to Earth; in IW, he has no idea who Thanos is. Thanos tells Gamora that, by killing half of her planet, the remaining half of her people are now thriving, but the first GotG told us that Gamora was the last remaining member of her race. Where was the Hulk when Asgard was being slaughtered, and where did Loki disappear to for five whole minutes before he reappeared and died? 

5. The narrative implies that Thanos truly loves Gamora, and that he was right to sacrifice her because it allowed him to get the Soul Stone and continue on his mission. Gamora says, “This isn’t love,” but the fact that Thanos does get the stone after killing her is the narrative saying that yes, this is love, the only way Thanos knows how but love, nonetheless. Which is ... really not okay, but other people have gone into much better meta and analysis on this than I can at the moment. 

6. The entire Wanda and Vision relationship was poorly developed and dragged out far too long. In a movie about all of the superheroes coming together and the culmination of all of the characters at their disposal, they chose to focus a good portion of the plot on a couple that was, I’m sorry, boring. I didn’t care if Vision died because their relationship wasn’t fleshed out or built up at all. We’re just supposed to accept it as true love and feel bad for them. 

7. The ending would have had much more impact if they weren’t so obviously going to bring back all of those characters, anyway. Like, they are literally filming Spiderman 2 right now - of course Peter Parker will be back. Of course Dr. Strange, T’Challa, Bucky, etc, will be back. They made such a big deal about the “stakes being so high” in this movie, but all the stakes led us to was a gratuitously tragic ending that everyone knows will be undone, anyway, so the only deaths that will stick will be Loki’s, Gamora’s, and Vision’s - aka, the only characters not killed by the Snap, and two out of three of those characters were killed by their abusers and somehow that’s okay. 

8. I will grant you, the cinematography was good and the music was nice. Also, there were some funny parts, mostly thanks to the Guardians still being in character because James Gunn was able to have a hand in portraying them. 

But, yeah. Marvel fucked it up. The last ten years of movies could have culminated in the most epic of epic villains, if the Russos hadn’t gotten sidetracked by wanting to replicate Loki’s popularity (and Kilmonger’s, later) by making Thanos sympathetic, if they hadn’t ditched the “courting Death” motivation, if they hadn’t gotten rid of Joss Whedon, if they hadn’t tried to literally replicate Steve’s plotline with Thor (Steve lost everything and that worked out okay, so let’s have Thor lose everything, too!), or if they had hired some writers who knew what the fuck they were doing. Marvel fucked up Infinity War, and this is the hill I’ll die on, I’m not changing my mind.

Chapter 14

"Okay, frost bite, want to run that by us again?" Tony asked, sitting in the common room with everyone else, except Natasha who had been banished to her room.

"We are going to get y/n, back." James said through clenched teeth.

"No, we understand that, but we just want to know why." Clint spoke up, leaning against the wall next a very large man, with long blonde hair.

"I must agree with Barton, Master Barnes, she seemed grateful that Natasha had brought her to the road before Loki and I came up." Thor bellowed, stroking his chin. Long gone was his wolf form, and next to him stood his brother, who's black hair was slicked back.

"I understand your hesitation, I do." James replied, sighing heavily.

"Look, it isn't very often that Bucky asks us of something, not like this. He has done so much for all of us, why are you questioning him?" Steve asked, looking around the family.

"Because, he has never asked us to walk into a building filled with hunters to bring back a woman who hates us, no offense, sir." Clint replied. "I mean, if he commands us, then yes I will go."

"Bucky ain't commanding anybody, you know that of all people, he's asking us to help him. Whether or not we go with him, he's going." Sam stated, standing next to Steve.

"All he wants his family at his back." Steve added.

"I'm in." Wanda spoke up from the corner she was sitting in, she stood and walked over to the trio of men on the opposite side of the room. "I like y/n, she's a kind person."

"If Wanda goes, then so do I." Vision spoke up and walked over as well.

"Fine, can't let the youngest have more ball then me." Clint stayed throwing his arms up in air. "I don't have anything better going on anyway."

"Brother?" Thor asked, slowly walking toward James and the other, Loki rolled his eyes and followed.

"At least there will be fresh meat." Loki stayed as he did.

Everyone turned to look at Tony, the man kicked himself off from the wall.

"Can't let you guys have all the fun, plus someone has to make sure that you guys don't get killed anyway." He said, trying to act nonchalant about the whole thing.

"Looks like we're breaking into Hydra." Steve smirked to James.

"You know, I've always wanted to do this." James grinned, his teeth slowly descending from his mouth.

"What do you mean genetics?" You asked, you felt your brows furrow as you stared at Rumlow.

"All of the ancient are descendants of other pure vampires, reproduction between one and one that was made can't happen. Once a human is turned everything in one dies, hence the need to feed on living blood, vampires can't make their own." He told you, slowly walking around behind you, making the hairs on your neck stand on end. "Also, a pure can't mate with a normal human, carrying a child that is half living takes a toll on the host and ends up killing the mother, whether she is the one that is human or vampire."

"And what does that have to do with genetics?" You asked, watching him out of the corner of your eyes as he came around the other side of you.

"Only other pures can smell their lure, those made can't smell it on the ancients." He told you.

"That's not true, I can smell James's lure." You admitted in your confusion. "And I'm not a vampire."

"You are not but you are." He shrugged. You opened your mouth to question him further but he continued on. "There is a dormant strain of the disease, and in every way you are human. Except one, you have the ability to give life to the dead."

You stepped back away from Rumlow, his words not sinking in. If you could smell James's lure, then no doubt you had one as well, and that meant, he knew what you were. It meant that was the reason he was keeping you hostage, Vision said that he had been made to make it James wasn't the only one like him wandering the earth.

"Oh my god." You breathed, staggering back as the words and their implications slowly started to sink in.

"It was very hard to follow the family lines for a while but we did manage to find you when you were toddler. You are our golden ticket, unfortunately your parents didn't want to give you up so, they had to die." He explained leaning against the desk, your eyes shot up to meet his. "We needed you, with you we can finally have control over the last remaining pure, the worlds perfect killing machine."

"No, this isn't what I want." You spoke up finally find your voice.

"Sweetheart, it's cute to think you have a choice. But I promise you once he finds out you’re here, he will come, most likely with his pack." Rumlow told you as the door behind you scraped opened, sending you further on edge. "Then we can kill the pack and keep him at bay."

"You're making a grave mistake, Rumlow, when Bucky and his family show there won't be anything you can do to stop them." You said as someone grasped ahold of you by the inside of your elbow. "And I hope to Hell I get see him kill you."

Forcefully you were dragged out of the small office and down the way you had came through hall. You knew the place and he was headed to your old room, you tried to fight back, trying to twist your arm free but it was useless. He threw you in, your body bouncing on the cement floor when you lost your balance. He then slammed the door shut, the sound of hollow metal rung heavy through the air, followed by a distinct click. Slowly you pulled yourself to your feet, everything was as you left it.

Now you knew why James had been keeping it a secret. The fact he knew what you were, he didn't want to let you go cause he wanted more like himself. You walked over and sat on the edge of your bed, emotions flooded you as you tried to wrap your brain around everything. He was using you, just like Rumlow and the rest of Hydra. A tear slowly made it way down your cheek.

     James knelt on a hill a good distance from the hydra facility, he hadn't slept the entire day and dusk had finally fallen. He watched as people slowly trekked around the outside, large black rifles slung heavily over their backs. He growled to himself as he observed looking for the weak spot in their defenses while his family made their way there. Unlike them he could withstand daylight, but his family couldn't and it would take them all to you out.

     He had ordered Natasha to stay behind, he didn't trust her and there would be a family meeting after everything was said and done with on what to do with her. James has followed your scent without looking for clues like the archer had.

"Hey Buck." Steve's voice broke the silence surrounding the vampire, James slowly stood the wind catching his loose hair, glowing eyes still trained on the building down below.

"Steve." He replied finally turning. His family stood ready, in their usual battle gear. Even Wanda herself had opted out of the dresses she typically wore and was wear pants and a long red coat. Tony stepped up, his eyes locking on the building ahead and whistled.

"Lots of humans." He stated.

"At least two dozen outside, probably three times as much inside and all heavily armed." Bucky told them slowly, his eyes on Tony. "Mind calling in the big guy?"

"Oh, he's going to love this." Tony quipped back.

Review: All Good Things Must Come to an Endgame. (major spoilers.)

Capping off phase three of the Marvel cinematic universe was always going to be a monumental task. It had to be a film that worked both as a sequel to Infinity War, while also tying together buckets of plot and development from over twenty movies over the last decade. The Russo brothers had to juggle actors contracts being up, coming up with a believable fix to The Snap, while subtly hinting at what might come next for phase four. For the most part they managed to create a thrilling, satisfying movie that had me cheering in my seats, but definitely had me thinking about certain (mostly inconsequential) details that didn’t feel quite right.

The Time Heist.

We knew that somehow, no matter what, the remaining heroes from Infinity war would find a way to get everyone back. It’d be a crap end to the franchise if they didn’t, and also confusing considering there are movies planned that depend on certain characters, you know… existing. Time travel was the prevailing theory for a lot of people, and it makes the most sense. Still, the way that idea was used, to go back to key times in MCU that were both infinity stone locations, and places were each character could grow and reflect on the past was beautiful. And it was entertaining as an audience member seeing characters that have grown so much over the years encounter younger, stupider versions of themselves (looking at you Starlord.) The heavy emphasis on the original avengers film in 2012 was important; as that was arguably the first movie that proved a shared cinematic universe could work. As the present day Scott, Tony, Steve and Bruce scurry around the 2012 battle of New York we get a look back at the original six heroes kicking ass, as well as a sneaky view into what happened after. The way they all just took the tesseract, scepter and time stone felt very easy but was enjoyable nonetheless. In fact, the collection of all the stones, barring the soul stone guarded by Red Skull were all collected incredibly easily, so the focus was more on nostalgia than a complicated heist plot.

(A highlight was definitely Tony perving on “America’s ass”.)

Not All Hero Arcs were Created Equal.

With the destruction of half all living things the movie was able to zero in on a smaller core cast, and luckily the first six Avengers, the people who have been on the journey the longest, it was a final chance to give them a thoughtful, meaningful farewell. With the addition of Rocket, Rhodey, Nebula and to a lesser extend Carol (more on that in a bit) the original cast were able to close out their storylines. Some of these were more successful, Hawkeye getting his family back, or Bruce finding a balance between beast and man were nice. The Hulk thing was strange and could be written off as a joke, it’s hard to take Bruce or the Hulk seriously as the weird mash-up they ended up as.

Some of the storylines ended, in my opinion, kind of sourly. As soon as Hawkeye and Black Widow rocked up to the soul stone planet, you knew one of them was doomed. Scarlett Johansson rose to the occasion in a big way, as she sometimes falls flat. First as the tired warrior trying to hold down the Avengers after the snap, which was a cool evolution to a character who used to be a loner, then as the sacrificial lamb. It was a truly heartbreaking thing to watch Clint and Nat try to save each other, a final ode to their relationship, which was one of the best in the MCU. When Clint returned to the present without her it felt heavy, so I was frustrated she didn’t get as great a send-off or the same emotional response that the other major death got.

Thor’s fate is already one of the most contentious outcomes on the internet. I hate that basically any development made during Thor Ragnarok has been undone, I wish that the Russo’s had been more faithful to the ideas Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth made. But I do believe his current state, as a drunk, overweight recluse, isn’t totally out of the realm of possibility. He did lose everything and blamed himself for The Snap, so to want to spiral, to break down and lose hope, isn’t beyond possibility. The weight gain could be seen as just a punch line, (making fun of people who gain weight isn’t funny or cool) but it’s also a conscious step away from “perfect man, perfect body angel pirate” thing. He still got to play around with Meek and Korg, which was great. I do not believe for a second he would just leave New Asgard and the people he fought so hard to join the Guardians. That’s dumb, but when an actor wants to put a character to rest concessions have to be made. The big issue will be explaining his absence if he’s not in Guardians 3. (He could and should replace Chris Pratt.)

Tony and Steve, Captain America and Iron Man, were always going to be the two characters with the grandest ending narratives. They have led and been the leaders of most movies. They got, in my opinion, very suitable and bittersweet endings. Cap has fought and fought, slowly inching away from the patriot of the 1940s, to see him go back and get the ending he was robbed of when he went into the ice was really nice. The rules of fictional time-travel, not just in Back to the Future, say he shouldn’t have been able to do this. To totally change his past things would change in the future but whatever. Would he leave all the friends he’s made the last decade, to revert back to a more difficult time? That’s for the message boards to debate. He got a happy ending, which is fitting.

Tony Stark has had one of the best character arcs in movie history. From “the merchant of death,” to a hero who was still an emotionally stunted lone wolf, to a team leader who has tried to sacrifice himself at least once in every movie he’s been in. The hero that started the entire franchise in a cave with a box of scraps. He sort of got his happy ending and then didn’t. He got to spend four years happy with a family which is what a lot of people wanted for him. But in the end, it was him that made the ultimate sacrifice. There’s the idea that to have a character suffer for so long to only die at the end isn’t entertainment. But it was fitting, it was emotional and it was beautiful. He had the strength to do his own snap, and then he got to be with his wife, his best friends and his adoptive son Peter one last time. (I thought I couldn’t cry harder than when Peter turned to dust, but the sequel hurt, where the two roles were reversed, way more.) Robert Downey Jr's work, his acting in not just those final scenes but in the whole movie was a master class. Hopefully, Peter and the rest of the world will be able to move on… But I doubt it.

Thanos in Infinity War said to Strange during their first battle “You never used your greatest weapon” which back then was the time stone, but this time it was Captain Marvel. The excuse that she was in space explained why she never helped the Avengers before pretty well but to use that again to explain how little she was in Endgame was a cop-out. The first ten minutes, where they fight Thanos the first time and she put him in a chokehold was so satisfying. The second time when she took the full brunt of a head-butt and not flinch was even cooler. Imagine if she’d had the opportunity to travel to 2012 or even to go collect the power stone. I understand that she has solo sequels pretty much assured, but she definitely should have been in Endgame so much more… and her haircut made her look like Hillary Clinton.

The next generation, Valkyrie, Wanda, Carol, Sam and Bucky all have bright futures, and I think it’ll be very exciting when Disney releases television shows starring some of them.

Fight!

Finally, I wanted to mention how perfect, how epic, how breathtaking that final fight was. Starting with the big three against a no gauntlet Thanos, that almost would have been enough. We got the fan service of Captain America holding you know what, Thor fighting with long hair again. But when Thanos’ army comes over the hill, and then Doctor Strange opes up a hundred portals I screamed. Why neither of these armies showed up in Infinity War is a mystery but it was beautiful all the same. And that sequence, all the female heroes of the last decade (Including Pepper in some dope blue armor) lining up and going ham on their enemies was my favorite part of the movie hands down.

Final Verdict

So the overall feeling as I left the theatre was lots of excitement, and that the journey that the movies and the audience had been following for so, so long had come to a pretty satisfying conclusion. Any problems audiences may have so far seem to be subjective, and could be debated, about Caps goodbye, Thor’s weight, or whatever else. Endgame did an amazing job of celebrating the old movies, and was full of amazing action and fight sequences and left the door open to the possibilities for more movies with some fan favorites.

im really glad marvel got braver when it comes to killing off characters. imo GotG2 sucked ass (i genuinely hate that movie lmao) and thor:ragnarok was good but i feel like theyre starting to lay on the Funny Man(TM) act a little TOO much so this was a welcome change

im eternally glad they killed off loki. i dont like tom hiddleston or loki and i never have im sorry. i thought he was cool in ragnarok but thor 2 was just all around bad imo and lokis shit got old hella quick. also it immediately showed they were serious

peter was def my fav char in this entire movie. ive been waiting for an eternity for ANYONE to make spiderman more spiderlike and his new suit was just delicious for the aesthetic geek in me. hes also one of the few characters whose humor never starts to annoy me. with the GotG, the 2nd film was such a turn-off for me that every time they had another thickly laid on joke they shoved into your face i just couldnt laugh about it. the only GotG jokes i laughed about were drax’s “ive been standing here an hour” scene and his “WHY IS GAMORA” thing

speaking of Gamora, im so glad they finally let her actress....act lmao. she wasnt remarkable to me at all in the first 2 movies bc it always seemed like she wasnt allowed to show ANY emotion at all, but the crying for thanos scene was cool. i kinda wish she’d showed as much emotion when thanos threw her down a fucking cliff but alas

i disliked the constant dick measuring contest between characters. quill and thor, strange and stark, some of the useless banter was placed at moments that just seemed completely unlogical to me. like ok thor you literally just watched your brother die and lost the only person you had left but you DO have the emotional capacity left to have a bitch-off with quill? :/

Wakanda was an always will be amazing and i have literally no complaints 100% approve of anything and everything t’challa and crew will ever do. 

woulda liked a bit more emotion (doesnt matter what kind but at least EMOTION) between bruce and natasha bc everyone should know that i stan their relationship and i hate the constant turn-arounds natasha’s char goes through. doesnt matter who writes her, one movie shes opening up to people and the next she’ll be an emotionless ass again. also pissed abt the little amount of screentime tasha got in general

Wanda and vision were surprisingly cute but i wouldve preferred a little less heavy drama-like shit to show us they were together. i wouldve preferred to have a short scene of them sitting in their underwear together watching a movie and joking about it or w/e instead of the whole....”are we together or arent we” thing they did

i loved basically everything else tho. nebula’s torture scene actually scared me a bit, thanos really wasnt a bad villain like i thought he was gonna be. i really thought he was just gonna be another “wuh wuh world dominashun” type of guy but his motivations are surprisingly deep and his character was unhinged in a really balanced way. like he is grounded and psycho at the same time.

also wasnt as annoyed by bucky as i was in previous films, turns out not having steve give up literally all his values and friends in order to save him makes him a much more likeable character and the whole “steve?” death scene felt a lot less forced that way, to me at least. i much prefer it when a movie isnt constantly shoving in my face how much steve loses his goddamn mind whenever bucky is in the picture

the iron man/spiderman scene fucking killed me, as did all the other death scenes. also iron man was a lot more likeable in this film than in previous ones, you can really see some character growth. or maybe hes just tired idk. being the passivist understanding dude for once instead of a condescending douchebag is good

the scene where wanda has to kill vision was really cool to me, bc i never cared much about either before but the acting made it so that i actually felt really bad for them even tho the whole time stone thing was so obvious. visions empty robot body was cool

also the fighting scenes were fucking AMAZING. i love how wanda finally became a really good fighter and how shes a lot more agile and dynamic now. thors new axe is cool. Caps beard looks good and his entrance scene was amazing. the strange+spiderman portals “MAGIC WITH A KICK” thing was hardcore. tony’s nanotech was hardcore. bruce finally fighting for himself and using his wits while in the iron man suit was awesome. the wanda+tasha+okoye fighting scene was so cool too!

honestly tho my gripes arent really anything to write home about and are more like nitpicks because i lovedddd the movie. the only BIG gripe i have is that i knoooow theyre all gonna come back. it wouldve been a lot more believable to me if cap/tony/idk the original avengers crew died because theyve all had a bunch of screentime and them killing off peter parker and t’challa just shows theyre gonna come back bc no way marvel is not making them like 3 sequels each at LEAST

i also liked how much the after-credits scene was just another slap in the face. i know many people wanted it to be a “dont worry its gonna be alright!!! saviors are coming” moment but seeing hill and fury die gave me a weird sense of “hell fucking yea” because it shows they were trying to be serious about the “shit is fucked” thing

also im sad they showed the ant man + wasp trailer before the movie because it really lessened the blow of the deaths lmao

Thanos stood before them, titan in truth as well as name. Loki’s heart jumped into his throat and his thoughts briefly flashed to a shattered world, fingers tearing through his mind, screaming as his being was turned inside out. Fear froze him in place, instinctive, animal. 

REMEMBER THIS COLD

Steve shifted nervously. “How did you know?”

“Body language,” Tony said simply. “You keep staring at him. Not that I can blame you. Guy looks unfairly good in a suit.”

“Why, thank you,” Loki said. Tony jumped, and then scowled a little.

the hills on fire for miles: The Thor: Ragnarok fic for RTC.

The woman standing in front of them was just barely illuminated by the early dawn light, but it was enough: she was hopelessly striking, lips quirked in a very faint and unpleasant smile, her eyes glittering coldly, looking from Steve to Loki.

“And you,” she said to him, “must be the youngest whelp. The failure. Which makes you…” she looked at Steve. “What does that make you?” 

Attempt #432: Someone asked for the AU where one of Doom’s Loki-clones survived. It’s gonna be bad, folks.

His first memory was a silver mask with rectangles for eyes and mouth, looking down at him. “Attempt four-hundred and thirty-two,” it said, “success.”

MCU

Into the Valley of Death Rode the Six Hundred: The “Loki wins” fic where he gloats at Steve in his spare time and then ends up fighting a war on three fronts and actually asking for help with one of them.

Steve opened his eyes to find a hand over his mouth and the strong iron smell of blood filling his nose. He sucked in a sharp breath, heart hammering into motion. “Open your mouth to cry out and I will take your tongue before you can make a sound.” Loki’s voice was low and soft, but there was something ragged and breathless there as well. “Nod if you understand.”

Strange Bedfellows: The “Clint and Loki are captured and undergo TERRIBLE SUFFERING and bond, sort of” fic. Hey, people do it for Tony/Loki I don’t see why I can’t go with it my way.

Clint Barton had observed that missions tended to go wrong in one of two ways. Either it was a gradual stacking up of problems that inevitably led to total collapse no matter how hard you tried to hold on, or it was the kind of thing where you were standing in the middle of the building and the roof fell on you.

The Priesthood of Natasha Romanov: The one where Loki declares Natasha his High Priestess. She’s not really into it, though.

She tried to tell Thor about her encounter with Loki in Berlin, but the minute she got out an “I saw” her throat closed up and then she was talking about the Berlin Art Museum with some enthusiasm, despite the fact that she hadn’t gone. A few circuitous routes met with no more success, and even hints appeared to be impossible. Whatever magic fuckery Loki had worked on her, it was thorough.

Her training would have dictated that she fight until her last breath. That cornered, weaponless, and bleeding, she would go on fighting. Her training had told her they will try to seduce you, to steal your loyalties with grand promises. These are all lies. Gun's in the bedside table, just take care of it and dump the body. He half twitched toward the bedside table, but stopped at that. He still had questions. Dead bodies drew attention.

The Interim: The fic about Morgana’s journey from dying of poison to coming back to Camelot dramatically changed and set on revenge.

She struggled to understand what was going on. To work out what had happened (he poisoned me) and what was happening now. It all hurt too much, though, and all she could do was lie there and whimper and hate how weak she felt. A cool hand pushed her hair off her brow. “It’s all right, sister. You’re safe.”

Carrot-Chan: Hello guys! We are back. I am excited for this fanfiction and it takes place when they were children. About eight give or take. Before everything was complicated. Ms. V: Pwease enjoy the story!!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thor's P.O.V. I am looking for my brother and mother. I had to see Father this morning and Loki told me he was going to see Mother. I feel bad leaving Loki alone. He does not do well with other kids. He usually prefers to stay with me, but Mother he is ok I check in Mother and Father's room where they intend to be, but they are not here. Next I should check the library. Loki does like to read and study. I walk in and check everywhere and he is no where to be seen. I walk down the corridor and see a guard walking down the opposite direction then me. "Have you seen my brother, Loki?" I ask him. "Yes I saw him in the garden. Excuse me I must see your Father," He tells me. I nod and head towards the garden. I go to the garden and see Loki near some of the gold flowers. I then see Mother with him. It looks like they are just talking while Loki. Both their backs are turned towards me so neither of them can see me. I walk up behind them and hug Loki from behind. He jumps a little before looking me over his shoulder and gives me a angry look. I smile at him before looking over at Mother. "Good evening Mother. I am going to barrow Loki," She nods her head. "That is fine, but be careful," She warns me. I nod my head and drag Loki away before he can protest. When we are far enough away I slow down. Loki looks angry. "Honestly Thor, you couldn't have waited until I was done talking with Mother?" He asks trying to be angry but I think he just looks adorable. I lean down and kiss his forehead. He blushes a little. "Thor! Are you even listening?" He asks me. "Nope," I say simply. He rolls his eyes. Before looking up at me. "What is so important that you had to drag me away?" He questions with a hint of irritation. I smile at him. "I decided we are going to go on a hunt," I tell him proudly. He gives me a deadpan look before he turns around and walks away. I walk after him and grab his hand. "Come on brother! It'll be fun and I promise you will be unharmed," I promise. He seems to be thinking it over. He turns towards me. "Some one has to keep you out of trouble," he tells me. I smile at him before taking his hand and leading him away. Loki's P.O.V. Honestly, I can not believe Thor interrupted Mother and me. Then he has the nerve to take me out here to hunt. He knows we are not suppose to hunt on our own, but I know if I do not go with him he will go on his own. It is not all that bad he is still holding my hand which I like. He also is smiling nice and big. Thinking about it makes my cheeks warm. Thor has taken me taken me to the middle of the woods. There are a lot of things here he could hunt or that could hunt us. I grip onto his hand tighter not wanting to lose him. Thor notices and turns to looks at me. "It's alright Loki. A future king of Asgard can protect his brother," he reassures me. His words reassure me. I give him a timid smile and let him lead me. I do not loosen my grip on him. We have been wondering around for over three hours now and have found nothing. It is getting dark out and people are going to wonder where we are. "Thor we need to turn back before people start to wonder where we are," I tell him. He stops walking and looks at me. "It will be fine. No one will notice, and the best creatures come out at night," he responds. He is right most creatures come out at night and I would rather avoid them. "Thor, if you want to challenge death fine, but I rather not. I am heading back," I sternly reply. I remove my hand from his and head back down the path we came. "Fine but when I bring back an amazing beast for farther you will get no credit," reply says trying to get m pet to. Change my mind. That is fine by me. Father would not believe I helped anyways. "You also will not be allowed to crawl in bed with me when you have nightmares anymore," I immediately stop walking and look at Thor. He knows I have really bad nightmares. I have for as long as I can remember. Even then only Thor could help me. That was uncalled for. I turn back around not saying anything and continue walking. I hear Thor start walking in the opposite direction of me. Once I know he is far enough away I start to run. I am angry and hurt by Thor's words. As I run I was not paying attention to where I was going. I was running up a small rocky hill and I feel something rap around my leg. It is to late and I fall and roll down the other side of the hill. When I reach the bottom I wIt and catch my breath before sitting up. I check for injuries. There is a cut on the left side of forehead and right cheek. My right knee is also bleeding. It does not try to but left ankle hurts to much. I think I sprained it. I let the gravity of the situation sink in. It is getting dark, I am all alone and Thor hates me. I am going to die out here. I was always hoping if I was going to die OT would be protecting Thor. I really care for Thor. Not like a brother but more like how mother and father love each other. I would love to be Thor's queen. I am like his queen. I sleep with him, we kiss each other, and we always as we love each other, but now he hates me, does not wanna sleep with me anymore, and I think I am going to die here. I feel small tears roll down my eyes and carefully roll up into a ball. Maybe none of the creatures will see me. Thor's P.O.V. I walk deeper into the forest. I can see some foot prints. It looks like a four legged creature. I want to go after it but something is wrong. I know that I should not of let Loki go home on his own, but I did not think I would feel this off about it. I shake my head and try to catch up to Loki. It does not take long for me to find his foot prints going the opposite direction over our old ones. I fallow them up a large hill. About half way up the hill I hear someone crying. I rush up. Once I am up the top I look down and see Loki crying at the bottom. He is curled into a ball. I start to panic and run down the hill. At the bottom I kneel next to him. "Brother, what is wrong? Do something attack you?" I ask him. I place my hand on his back. He looks up in shock. His eyes are watery and blood shot. "T-thor?" He questions. I nod my head yes. "I tripped and fell down the hill. I think I spranged my ankle," he tells me. I sit down and pull Loki into my lap and look at his ankle. It looks swollen and I can see that he is bleeding on his knee and face. I feel bad because if I listened to him he would not of been hurt. "Loki, I am going to carry you home and then I will take care of your injuries," I tell him gently. He nods at me. I pick him up and he curls into my chest. I hurry home. Once we get home I rush to my room and I am careful not to be seen. Once inside my room I place him in on my bed sitting up. He is no longer crying but his eyes are still red. I run into the bathroom and grab the first aid. I should take him to the medical wing but I need to fix my mistake. Loki's P.O.V. Thor leaves me to grab the first aid. I wish he would just take me to the medical wing and leave me alone. He made it clear that he cares more about hunting then me. I sigh as a stray tear runs down my cheek. Thor then walks back in the room. He looks at me," It is ok brother, I will make everything better," he says wiping my tear away. I do not at anything. Thor first pulls out the anti-infective and uses a cotton ball to clean the cut on my forehead. I hiss as it burns in my cut. I try to pull away but Thor raps his other arm around my waist to keep me close. "Hold still Loki. If it burns it means that it is being cleaned," He tells me. I already know this but it still does little to make it burn less. After he is satisfied he places a band aid on it. He repeats the process with my other cuts. Once he is done he looks at my ankle. He takes off my shoe. It is really sore and it looks swollen. I try not to cry as Thor moves my foot up and down." It is only a sprain. I'll wrap it up and then will put some ice on it. I am going to go get some ice and food," Thor tells me before he leaves. He comes back in with some food and ice. "Thanks," I tell him. I then stand up, not putting to much pressure on my ankle, and I try to take the food and ice from Thor. Thor gives me a questioning look. "Loki, brother, where are you going? You should not be walking and your ankle right now," Thor says. He places the ice and food down and out of my reach before picking me up. He then sets me back on the bed with my back against the headboard before grabbing the plate of food and ice. He puts the ice carefully on my ankle. Then he crawls into the other side of the bed and places the food on my lap. I start to slowly eat it while trying to figure out why Thor is not kicking me out. Thor is just laying next to me while I eat. I can not figure out why Thor has not kicked me out. I made him leave his hunt. I also got mad at him. He said that I could not sleep with him. Is he going to kick me out when I am done. I feel some one grip my shoulder gently but firmly. "Loki, it's ok your safe. Just breathe," I hear Thor tell me. Thor then wipes my face with his thumb and that's when I realis I am crying and it feels hard to breathe. I take in a big deep breath and let it out slowly to regain control of my breathing. Once I calm down I notice that my food was moved and Thor I holding me in his arms. I let a small sob escape my throat. "Just kick me out already so I don't have to worry!" I yell at Thor. He looks at me with guilt and sympathy. "I am not going to kick you out especially sense I know the nightmares you have," he whispers to me. I shake my head not believing him. "After what you said in the woods why would let me stay?" I question him. "Brother it is because I care and love you," He tells me. "Lies! You only love me because you have to!" I shout at him. I try to wiggle out of his grasp but he will not let me go. "That is not true Loki! I love you more then any brother should love their brother," He says. Shouting the first part but then whispering the last. I feel my heart squeeze at hearing this. "R-really? You love me like I love you? prove it," I challenge Thor. He pulls me closer before kissing me on the lips. is eyes are closed and mine shortly close too. When he pulls away I open my eyes to see Thor's blue ones. "Why did you kiss me?" I ask as my cheeks heat turn red. He laughs. "Well that's what Mother and Father do to show their love so why can't I kiss you to show mine?" He tells me with a huge smile. I smile back him. I try to sit up and Thor lets me. I then give him a peck on the lips. "I love you more than a brother too, Thor," Thor turns as read as I think I am. He smiles and pulls me down as he lays down so I am laying on his chest. That is how we spend the rest of our night.
