Top 5 fave Mar'i headcanons
Oooh these sounds fun @spider-jaysart
1) She’s the resident loudest snorer of the entire Grayson family, past or present. Only one closest to her volume might be John back then. And yet doors her loud snores, Dick, Kory and Jake are able to sleep through it no problem
2) She is an expert at sneaking in whenever her parents or Jake are sound asleep in the morning and doodling on them with a marker tip. Despite how legendarily ticklish all of them can be
3) Like her Mother, Mar’i drinks mustard right out of the bottle; although she actually has a favorite flavor to it: Dijon. The taste wins her over a lot of the time
4) Mar’i’s favorite Marvel heroes include but aren’t limited to the Jane Foster Thor, Storm, Kamala Khan and Spinneret aka Mary Jane Watson with Spider powers. Her favorite cosplay in all her Halloweens has been of Thor and if she can make a bigger version of that costume, she’d go as that one again
5) Mar’i once woke up in the middle of a weekend night and noticed that Jake was still on patrol in the snowy cityscape of Bludhaven. She went out floating around to find him which didn’t take her too long, noticing a small bundle covered with a bright yellow cape as he uses his body heat to keep warm depute how tried he was. Thus Mar’i gave Jake a piggyback ride back to their hole, helped take off his mask, gloves, belt and boots before tucking him in his bed. She stayed by his bedside the whole night even falling asleep with her head on Jake’s resting heartbeat, not willing to leave her Baby Brother’s side

Avengers Loki Cosplay part 3
See previous posts for the whole story.
So with the tunic mocked up, it was time to make it a bit more fitted. And immediately, there was a problem: I couldn't get it off. Not easily, anyway. So, it was time to start over with a different pattern entirely. Yay. Though seriously, better to find that out in the mock-up stage, rather than with the final costume.
So, I opted to use Simplicity 2741, Option A, which is a button-front shirt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gotta say, attaching the yoke was tricky, but I managed it! I wish sewing directions were clearer, but maybe that's on me for being out of practice.
Since this is a mock-up, there's a limit on what I'm willing to attach, so for trying-on purposes, I just used safety pins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, this is working much better. It's not exact, as the back pattern piece was wider that the fabric I had cut for the previous pattern, but I refused to cut more fabric for a mock-up. It seemed wasteful, and I don't have limitless test fabric. But I'm smaller than the pattern anyway, so it worked out. I kept the collar from the original shirt, so it will stand up better, and spread out less.
I did not use the sleeves that came with the shirt pattern. Instead, I used the sleeves from the coat top pattern, Simplicity 8769. I tried attaching the cuffs from the original shirt, but they seem unnecessary. I'll just finish the sleeve with a rolled hem on the final version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, the first time I tried, I put the sleeve on wrong-side out. But I fixed it, and got the other sleeve on, too. the left sleeve was stitched a bit narrower, which fits closer, like Loki's tunic. But the armscye was wonky, and I'm not sure that's because the sleeve was smaller, or user error. But that's fixable on the final version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cuffs just don't look right, and they're not needed. They just make the sleeve a tad too long on me. So, they'll be left off and I'll make a simple rolled hem on the final.
So, now it's a functional shirt! Or, close enough for a mock-up. It's not quite long enough, tho, as the tunic in the film has an asymmetric hem, to prevent the, ah, "wardrobe malfunction" that Tom Hiddleston experienced in the first Thor film. So I added a 7-inch long strip of fabric to the bottom, and then cut diagonally from right hip to left knee.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's the tunic! I know the pieces I need, the changes to make, and I am more than ready to move on. Next up is the trousers, and I'm thinking what I'm gonna need is something like chaps, but like, capri-length. I don't have a pattern for that, but Simplicity is having a sale, and I can get one for $4. I might work on boot covers in the interim, but those shouldn't need a mock-up.

Boba Fett Cosplay (COMPLETE)
Tumblr media
The "unrelated and more time sensitive project" I mentioned at the end of my Kinect tale? It was finishing this cosplay so I could wear it for the first time to Duke City Comic Con. I was actually almost considering not going because I found out about it on kind of short notice, and I didn't know if I really wanted to go by myself, but I mentioned it to my mom and she asked if she could go with me just for the heck of it.
So now that the project had a deadline, I could actually finish the damn thing!
Tumblr media
If you've been following my #cosplay tags, you might notice that this armor is, in fact, not the worbla-covered foam version I previously posted. This is version *3* of the armor, and it is 3D-printed like every other solid piece of the costume. I just yanked the lights off the version 2 armor and stuck 'em on this one. The shoulder armor and belt buckle I modeled and printed myself, and my mom proved indispensable yet again by volunteering her vastly superior sewing skills to turn this jacket from Goodwill into the armor vest.
She also pulled out all the of insulation, and sewed some elastic loops inside it to hold little ice packs to help keep me from dying of heatstroke. Because it turns out the most unbelievable thing in the entire new Star Wars canon is that Boba didn't drop dead running around in heavy black clothes on a desert planet with two suns.
So yeah! Have a few more pics from the con, and then I'll go on a long rant about all the problems I discovered after wearing this getup for 4 or five hours.
Tumblr media
The con had a rule about realistic weapons that was just vague enough that I didn't feel 100% comfortable bringing my EE-3. A little disappointing because it stands as one of the best props I've ever printed and painted. (See my post about that here!) But the guys running this prop booth had one of their own and called me over to pose with theirs. Interestingly, it felt just about as heavy as mine, so I could make a pretty good guess what their props are made of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gamora wanted a picture with me because, and I quote, "We're both green!" Mighty Thor went on to win the costume contest. (I didn't even place.)
Tumblr media
"Hmm. Reminds me of that droid that was always following Solo around."
Tumblr media
"Should've asked Mr. Hammond if he could clone a Mythosaur for me."
OKAY. NOW TO GO OVER ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS COSTUME.
The gauntlets. Are too. DAMN. SMALL. When I first printed them on my resin printer, I had to either cut them into pieces or scale them down to get them to fit. I determined that scaling them down would be the better option because I have skinny noodle arms and the smaller gauntlets would still fit. When I reprinted them, I still scaled them down because 1, I thought they would fit better anyway, and 2, being smaller meant they would print faster. Turns out the scaled down versions are VERY tight and the hard edges kept me from moving my wrists, and dug into my hands the whole time I was wearing them. I had little bruises from that for the next couple days. When/if I remake these, I will print them at full size and maybe add foam or something to keep them from slipping around.
Get better at sewing. I sewed velcro patches into the shoulders of the vest to attach the shoulder armor pieces to and keep them from sliding down my arms, but one of them still came detached somehow so I kept having to adjust that shoulder. Also, I thought that I could get away with not sewing on the velcro for the chest diamond because it was small and the sticky pad could just hold it on. NOT SO. It kept falling off no matter how hard I pressed the sticky side onto the vest. Should've just taken the five minutes to do a quick and crappy stitch on it. All the other velcro pieces held just fine.
I also should've just found a real belt to use. This fake leather material apparently stretches easily, so it started to sag throughout the day. It's also why I couldn't hang the holster on it (which you can't even see in any of these pictures, but I hung it on the real belt I wore with my pants.)
As a famous Stormtrooper once said: "I can't see a thing in this helmet!" My visor fogs up after having it on for just a few minutes, and it gets unbearably hot inside that thing. That space inside the helmet to install an "optional" fan system? NOT REALLY OPTIONAL, unless you enjoy slowly boiling to death in your own sweat. Also the antenna keeps falling down, so I could probably stick a small piece of foam in there to hold it in place better.
And that's that. This 2 year project is concluded! I'll probably keep working on little bits here and there to iron out the kinks, but this is most likely the last big Tumblr-worthy update. I don't know for sure what my next big project will be, but I have some ideas.
If anyone wants links to the 3D printed parts I used to make this costume, here's the list!

So I now have most of my costume put together & my solo song picked for cosplay bellydance debut as Doctor Strange.
I decided you guys are gonna get special little sneak peeks as I create the choreography, work on trying to build the Tao Mandala shield props, all the weird little extra things i couldn't help but buy to use at the cons (Eye of Agamotto sipper bottle - needed it!), and other behind stuff like me dying my hair to look like Strange.
Frankly, most people in my daily life are unaware of my Doctor Strange obsession, lol, so I thought you guys would appreciate all the little nuances.
If you happen to be in FL, here is the event info for the con & our show. Love to have some familiar faces (kinda sorta?) there! Other dancers will be portraying Hela, Scarlet Witch, and Loki. Sadly our Mighty Thor won't be at that show, but I love her so much.

My Top Posts in 2022:
#5
I listened to the TBI debut while knitting, some highlights
"Drumbot Brian.... Actually playing a fucking drum"
Huh,,,, the lyf segments are supposed to be verbatim from a recording they made.... Note to self
Raph 🥺🥺🥺 no thoughts on Odin. Just Raph time
Oh fuck. The Ooohs in Loki gave me shivers. it's the quiet before tim just Going for it that cements it for me
Moss stitch is.... So boring but also just annoying enough you constantly have to pay attention
Something about how Thor is preformed in the debut makes me believe his anger more than the recording. It may be a voice crack or something
In Losing Track's chorus, Tim's mic is Way Too Loud and Ashes' is nowhere near loud enough. However everyone sounds fine in the verses so it may be a human issue not a tech one.
Lyf's interaction with the mechs in Expert Testimony is great. It was just a little off from the recorded version but it was a cool break
I like how red signal worked in this version. The quiet bit at the start was nearly imperceptible, and it steadily got louder. The difference between the two ranges of volume between the debut and the album is interesting
I forgot to take notes during the Ragnaroks. It was different enough to keep my attention but similar enough it wasn't distracting. Tim was not super overwhelming during Loki-Sigin duet in V.
It should not have taken me An Entire Hour to finish knitting one 3.5 inch square. AND it's even not the right shape due to bulging >:(
The crowd started to clap before the end of Terminus because they were not expecting the distress call segment
Jonny's smile at the end of Terminus is SOOOOOO good. I haven't been able to watch the video much because I was busy but I caught that :) The Void grins through him and you should be afraid
"(talking about CDs) Nothing too squamous I can assure you." "Awwwwwww." "Maybe just for you"
In conclusion: its a good live show. You should listen to it if you can

Had a fun dream last night where I was dressed as The Toy Soldier, and as I looked out the window I thought I was just seeing my reflection in the pitch black garden, but was actually Jessica Law in full costume. In my garden. Staring into my kitchen. Mimicking my every movement.

My #1 post of 2022
I love Expert Testimony because of the implications of Marius just summoning a violin.
Like if its just those three in the room, then the obvious answer is that DBB is sitting outside the cell with a small pile of instruments to hand to his pals when they need it.
But if all the mechs are in the room but most of them are just too grumpy to speak to Lyf, then do they have secondary powers of instrument creation? Do they have Really Big Pockets where they store spare pianos?
Extra Question, do the guards confiscate their contraband? And if so where do they keep them?

This is from Arkham origins and our son is noting that this is some sort of atmosphere suit or part of a spacesuit and it really is and he's wearing it on purpose because of radiation. Even though he's somewhat immune he is wearing it to keep from becoming sick. Is Dave's leather jacket but they have enlarged it and it's far too big he says and it's actually true it was big on Dave but this guy is way too big to wear that and what we think is our son wants to be the character and he says he could wear the jacket to it if it's cold because it's there might be another comic con in the winter maybe and he remembers that they used to do that here he thought and there might be one and when you get there you put the coat in the coat check and he would just have a comic con coat and there might be lockers that you can rent and we know that they have those and underneath is the vest so he would go there in costume and then walk to the parking garage and costume and people will recognize the character quite readily it'll be a lot of fun for our son who just wants to have fun and he's not really doing these things that you say he is but you want him to appear to and Batman wants him to and he can hardly feel it he says and it's true he can't get there and nobody can figure it out. It says that the Punisher would have to show up it's our version because of the intensity of the cosplay and what it means. We're gonna go ahead and issue this we'd like to see him do this it would be a good deal and fun. And we have put a lot of effort in and he wants to show that he appreciates it and people would be wearing this all over the world and Mac Daddy does not want Daniel to encourage it
Thor Freya
Now I do see something he is very arrogant and rude a lot and big soon doesn't care if he shows up in costume like this people know who he is I find that to be very rude and he's making a rude gesture saying I'm kind of a crude person might be true but I'm gonna go ahead with my plan and I'm going to try and get you up there and he says you better give it about 4 or 5 months 'cause I'm not big and it would look stupid be this fat vein he says. And I understand that so we're gonna have to work on it

While I love Spider-Man and am fond of Tom Holland’s version of the character, I feel that it’s a bit too late to have him be the MCU’s “working class” superhero. We already have a working class hero; Hawkeye. My arguing points:
1) Clint was caught off-guard by the decadence of the Bishop family penthouse. And this is after he spent years working with Tony Stark, so it’s clear he’s still not that comfortable being around the 1%.
2) Clint’s whole gimmick (his “brand”) is that he’s the least extravagant Avenger. He’s not rich, he doesn’t have fancy gadgets (aside from the trick arrows, which he has to pawn off of from other people), and he doesn’t have fast-selling merchandise. When he gets hurt, he has to go to the local CVS just to get some medicine and bandages.
3) His show was about him teaching a spoiled rich girl how to live on cheap supplies and that being a superhero is more than just the image and theatrics. In fact, his show ends with him bringing the rich girl back to his farmhouse (in Hallmark Channel terms, he took the rich girl out of the city and brought her to the cozy, smalltown where everyone is living a simple life).
4) In the deleted scenes of Hawkeye, Clint grew up having to steal because he and his mom were broke.
5) The Hawkeye show made it a point that Clint is the Avenger who gets along the most with the “common people” (example: Grills and the LARPer community). He’s the Avenger that you could just walk up to and get a beer with since he’s a normal dude who you could relate to.
6) In terms of costumes, Tony uses a high-tech suit of armor, Steve got his uniform from the U.S. military, Natasha is using her Red Room gear, Thor is a royal prince and is dressed like one, and Bruce transforms into his “suit”. Meanwhile, Clint’s signature costume is literally a cosplay made by a LARPer.
7) Minor point but he still insists on paying for his food even though he’s a celebrity. He doesn’t want to freeload off of other people’s hard work.
8) Clint is the poorest OG Avenger and is the one given the least amount of attention. Hmm...coincidence, or is Marvel/Disney trying to tell us something (I’m joking on this point...or am I?)

Guess I’m adding another cosplay to my list of WIPs. Now if only they’d give us decent shots of Valkyrie’s armour so I don’t have to buy the movie and pause it frame by frame to see details...

I'm drowning in the gender sandbox guys.
I am agender. At least....I think I am. It's the closest to what I'm feeling. In that I really do not have an attachment to any gender and cannot conceive how people identify with a gender. Like....they just FEEL a gender? All the time? No matter what they look like and what they're wearing they FEEL a gender?? Whaaaa??? Sounds hella fake but okay.
And now I'm gonna talk about that and my experience for a while, in a series of ways that's probably gonna get the gender and sexuality neo-puritans to come yell at me for not being ritually pure enough in the way I talk but.....I'm talking from my own brain, baby. This is the toolkit I'm packing right now and the world I live in and I just need to spit it out. Maybe see if it resonates with people who know more than me. I don't know. Help.
I didn't question being a woman for the longest time. I grew up in a rural area culturally dominated by "Christians" (Not Catholics. I was Catholic. That comes with a whole different set of religious traumas pre-installed. I mean the ScAaRy protestent and nondenom Christians.) You didn't question anything. Not an adults orders. Not authority. Certainly not straightness. Gender was biological. I'd never heard of a trans person. There were rumors of Gays™. For most of my life it was just "Gender is the meat suit you got stuck with, right? I got stuck with this meat suit so it's my gender, I guess." And when I finally left the middle-o-nowhere for Le Citè and I met some (mostly bianary) trans people I was like "OH! OKAY!! Having strong feelings about being in the wrong meat suit can make a gender!" And the non bianaries that I met were still playing on that bianary scale. The "bit of boths" and the "different genders for different days" varieties. They has strange attachments to genders. And the whole retoric of "Questioning your gender and feeling things about you gender is the indicator that you might be trans!!" Just furthered my feeling that I must just be female by default cause like.....I didn't question anything. I didn't think about gender. I had a COMPLETE lack of feelings about gender whatsoever and that was normal, right?? Just meat suit gender. I certainly didn't have a strong feeling about wanting to be the opposite: *gag* a man?? A straight white man? Nope! I have no desire to be a bianary man and frankly I find 99 percent of men and male culture traumatic. So I must just be meat-suit gender.
And yes, I wanted to scrape my breasts and hips and thighs off with a cheese grater. But I wrote that off as a symptom of having started putting a finger down my throat after meals when I was 6 and having a family that forced hour upon hour exercise with their thighs and tummies wrapped in saran wrap and sang "I don't love her! She's too fat for me!" to a literal toddler and put that same toddler in oversized clothes to hide the healthy baby squish that toddlers HAVE. OF COURSE I wanted to die when my breasts grew in and my hips and thighs filled out. They were evil fat deposits. And they meant nothing but unwanted attention from yucky men. (Lesbianism to be discovered some 15 years later. My comphets we're almost as bad as my compgenders.) It had nothing to do with gender. Gender is just the meat suit ....and I already hated the meat suit by the time I had breast buds, they just enhanced a disgust that I thought was normal by then. Everyone kind of hates their meat suit, right?? Yes I wanted to look like men sometimes.....but they were skinny heroin chic men. I also wanted to look like kate moss. I wanted to look like a sideways door but my family is Italian and we have hips and thighs. It's just the meat suit I was assigned. Just have to learn to deal with it and dress it in the way that it looks most socially acceptable and get on with life. And my meat suit had a very gendered look, even in the deepest throws of my illness. "All woman." "The curves of a real woman." So that was just the hand I was dealt. Like having a hard to match foundation undertone. You don't gotta like it, it's just reality. Yes, I wanted to wear nothing but waistcoats and gay vampire clothes but they weren't cut for my body type so *shrug*.
Did I start to have way too much fun cosplaying and embodying male characters? Yes. But that was just identifying with characters. I'd always identified with characters. Did I still distinctly identify with the character's gender, even when I femmed the costume to avoid the hellish pain of binding? Yes. Did it make me feel weird when people referred to my Thor as a woman, even though it was technically a femme? Yes. But that was just feminism. Heroes don't need to be called girl heroes. No gender issues here!! Besides it's not weird in fandom circles to stongly identify with people across gender lines. The fact that I found the gendernope option if there was one available in the fandom and *attached* was surely just coincidental. Right??
Did I absolutely loose my mcfreaking mind when the gyno started talking about having to take my uterus away because the amount of blood it was loosing was doing irreparable harm to my body? Yes. My gender is my meat suit. When you take it away....what am I???? A *gag* man??? Nothing at all?? Am I still even human?? If I am not *gag* male and you take away the female part of the meat suit am I an aphid? A plant? A chair? But I was comforted by a chorus of voices saying "No!! You're a WOMAN. Infertility doesn't make you not a woman! You still have a woman's body!! Because you're a woman!!! Just look at you in your skirts and with your long hair!! You're a woman!!!" So.....still a woman, I guess. Because I still LOOKED like one. Gender = the PRESENTATION of the meat suit. That made sense. The structure of my meat suit made me limited to woman-presentation. So I was woman.
Then, it was the stupidest thing, I was talking to the other half of my life on the 4/5 train on the way to a friend's house about HER issues with gender presentation and the amount of attention to detail it takes to be socially acceptable as female and she said "You just know you're a girl. Like if they just picked you up and put you in a robot body you'd be a girl?" And I was like "......no? I'd be a robot?????" "But you'd still feel like a girl???" "No.....I'd feel like a ROBOT." "BUT you'd still like hear she/her and identify with those???" "No. I'd probably identify more with It/it's because that's what I'd be. A ROBOT!" And she's like "But what if your brain got transplanted into a boy body???" "Then I'd be a boy." "But what would you feel like?" "A BOY?" "Okay but what if you had a very neutral body with like no genitals? What would you feel like then??" "I mean....then it would depend on how I'm dressed. I'd feel like what I was dressed like." And we went around like this till she surmised that my entire relationship to gender was basically "You are what you look like." Which is apparently NOT how people relate to their own gender. They "feel" it somehow?? (I genuinely thought "FEELING" like a gender was what made trans people.) I feel nothing. I identify with a lot of things and ZERO of them are a gender. I thought that was normal. I thought that was the default. Apparently it's not. And then if you ask me what I want to be.....I can't answer. I really don't want to be a gender. I guess I want to be able to put different genders on at my will, like outfits, for societal convenience. But I don't "identify" with any of them. Hell, I have sweaters I identify with more than any particular gender. But there aren't really systems in place for describing and portraying that.
Gender.exe was not installed.
I did a lot of research. Agender felt closest. I actually felt closest to a Good Omens meme about Aziraphale describing his gender as "No, thank you!" That's what I feel like. But all the agender folks were vibing that moment. So I joined 'em. I am aware that puts me under the trans umbrella, but I don't really identify with that word. I don't feel like there's any transition. Any changing. Can't change what was never there. Also I feel like it's for people who....CAN present as their gender. I would be seen as an invader in those spaces. Its not bad enough to justify being in those spaces. I can live with being gendered. I just don't have one.
In the society we live in one cannot present as "not a gender". Someone with MY body definitely cannot present as "not a gender". The clothes that they make in size "giant human with planet tits" are agressively gendered. And even in a binder.....they're still REALLY there. (Yes, a reduction is desirable but I don't have reduction money.....and you can't reduce the fact that I'm the bowl shaped robust extreme female hipbone they use in Forensic Anthropology textbooks.) It is what it is. My body will always be perceived the way it's perceived. And frankly a lot of what we perceive as genderless is just "skinny body in masc style with short hair and makeup". That's not really want I want. I don't want to cut off my hair. It's my one really good feature and I've worked hard to grow out these Valkyrie worthy lengths. Mens clothes are so limiting. And there are no gender: no thank you clothes. (One well meaning friend kept trying to send me "genderless" clothes......but it was all rail thin afabs in mens clothes with short hair and heavy makeup. That's not looking genderless. That's just being skinny.) Gender no thank you presentation is very tied to short hair and thin bodies. So I've accepted that I don't get to play in the gender sandbox outside of the privacy of my own mind. It's a societal flaw. But whatever.
But pronouns are starting to really bother me. Everyone is so into them and identifying with them. And like.....I don't get it. I don't get the joy. I don't think I've found the one. Like.....I'm used to she. I will always be read as she. I will always be Miss and Ma'am in stores and restraunts. So I just kind of roll with it. I don't hate it. I don't like it. It's just a thing that I have to have to exist in society. Like a social security number. I actually think I identify with my social security number more. There's no point in making myself uncomfortable with something that's just going to be a part of my life. And I don't want to be the kind of person who expects people to address me by a pronoun they can't see and aren't used to. It's too much to ask of the average citizen of a gendered society to go through that much gender theory for just me. So "she" is an inevitable part of my life. And He....well ......I don't hate it. I dont like it. It's just there. I certainly don't get called it. And I'm not capable of presenting it well enough for this to be relevant. Now they......fuck I HATE they. I hate that it's the acceptable pronoun for anyone not bianary male or female. It just rubs me the wrong way. When people refer to me as they, I feel like they're referring to me and the host of mental illnesses I carry around and you don't have permission to address those troops thank you very much. They causes a genuine squick. But it's kinda the only widely acceptable option. I kinda like "it". I VIBE with it. It feels good. Unfortunately the people in my life have a certain reluctance about calling me it as they believe that happy vibe around a traditionally dehumanizing pronoun may be a trauma symptom. They might be right so I'm tabling "it" till I find a good therapist. Also...I cannot ask strangers to call me it. I don't have the confidence it takes to explain why and I frankly don't want to be faced with the criticism and questions I would face because I am unable to make my body be perceived as Nonbinary. I don't have the confidence or conviction to face that every day forever. Ditto neopronouns. I also haven't found one that I vibe with at all yet.
And queer labels get harder when you pull away from gender entirely. Like ... I am a Lesbian. I am solely attracted to women. But now I'm getting a lot of "You can't be a lesbian if you don't have a gender!!!" And like ...can I??? I like being a lesbian. It feels right. It conveys what I want it to convey. I like the exclusion of men entirely, after being taught to structure my life around men. I have a kinship with womanhood. It's where I was raised. It's how people see me. I just don't identify with it. It's not how I see myself. I guess that can kind of exclude me from the label? All of our terms are defined by being attracted to "your own gender" or "the opposite gender" or "both your own gender and other genders" and like ... I don't have a gender. And the opposite of nothing is....?? Fuck if I know? So what term am I allowed to use? I love queer for exactly this reason. But it just doesn't have the same clarity that lesbian does.
So I'm just kind of in a hole rn. Grappling with the fact that I really don't have a gender in a gendered world, and dealing with the fact that so much of our understanding and acceptance of gender is about presentation, a door closed to my body. I don't have the confidence or the spoons or the knowledge or the experience to fight this fight. The path of least resistance is sticking my head back into the sand and going with straightforward womanhood....but now it feels like I'm lying. I feel like an intruder in woman's spaces. And I can't go in men's spaces, they see me as....well...a woman. Lesser.
Someone out there who's better at the genders please help.

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy redefined the superhero genre and the summer blockbuster. The three films provided audiences with a sense of escapism unlike anything they had seen before, thanks to its heart-pounding action scenes and collection of beloved characters.
RELATED: Spider-Man Villains Ranked Least-Most Likely To Win The Hunger Games
Peter Parker, his friends, and his foes all got many chances to show off their abilities on the big screen. Indeed, the trilogy’s characters star in some of cinema’s most unforgettable moments. From upside-down kisses in the rain to heartfelt monologues about the responsibilities of a hero, Sam Raimi’s trilogy has plenty of scenes that rank as some of the most memorable in cinematic history.
10 Eddie Becomes Venom
Tumblr media
To say that Topher Grace’s depiction of Venom is unpopular would be an understatement. In fact, most fans agree he was one of the things Spider-Man 3 got wrong. That doesn’t mean his character didn’t have some thrilling moments on-screen, though.
Eddie’s most memorable scene in the movie is his transformation into Venom. As Peter gets rid of the symbiote while in a belltower, the alien falls and lands on Eddie, quickly overtaking him. A killer soundtrack and fittingly gloomy atmosphere accompany the transformation. And even if Eddie ended up being an underwhelming villain, his conversion into Venom is definitely memorable.
9 Flint’s Confession
Tumblr media
Every fan knows that Spider-Man 3 has way too many villains. None have enough room to shine or prove themselves as worthy heirs to Goblin and Ock’s legacies, but they still get some redeeming moments. In Sandman’s case, it’s his final monologue to Peter, where he confesses his guilt about the part he played in Uncle Ben’s death.
Enhanced by Thomas Haden Church’s performance, the scene succeeds in providing some much-needed closure for Peter. Sandman is less a villain and more a tragic figure of circumstance, and his confession to Peter confirms it.
8 Goblin’s First Flight
Tumblr media
Willem Dafoe redefined what it means to be a comic book villain. His take on the Green Goblin is the perfect mix of over-the-top and seriousness, adding a sense of gravitas that overcomes the more cartoonish aspects of the role.
The character has plenty of memorable moments in the first Spider-Man movie. However, his initial confrontation against Spider-Man during the World Unity Fair will go down in cinematic history as one of the best action scenes of all time. It is fast-paced and thrilling, wasting not a single moment of its four-minute length. The Goblin gives an impressive display of his powers, proving that he will always be Spider-Man’s best villain.
7 Otto Octavius’s Sacrifice
Tumblr media
Sam Raimi’s first two Spider-Man films succeeded because of how much they fleshed out the villains. They weren’t just CGI creations trying to take over the world, but three-dimensional characters with ambitions and limitations of their own. Spider-Man 2‘s Otto Octavius is one of the genre’s most compelling villains, one who succeeds in winning the audience’s sympathy while remaining a fearsome threat.
RELATED: 10 Things Only Comic Book Fans Know About Doctor Octopus
During Ock’s final moments, he sees the error of his ways and decides to go down with his creation. Proclaiming he will “not die a monster,” Octavius sacrifices for the greater good. Thanks to Alfred Molina’s committed performance, the moment is one of the trilogy’s most memorable, cementing Octavius as one of the genre’s most complex characters.
6 J. Jonah Jameson Saves Peter Parker
Tumblr media
J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson is the very definition of spot-on casting. The actor took an already well-known character and translated him into the screen seamlessly and faithfully. Throughout his tenure in the trilogy, he gets plenty of comical moments, but his most memorable is his protection of Peter Parker.
When the Green Goblin blasts into the Bugle’s offices, he threatens Jameson and asks for the name of the photographer who takes Spider-Man’s pictures. Jameson refuses to tell on Peter, telling the Goblin the reporter sends his stuff through the mail. The scene shows a new and unexpected side to JJ, a glance at the empathy he works so hard to hide.
5 Uncle Ben’s Lesson
Tumblr media
Uncle Ben’s death is one of the defining moments in Peter Parker’s storyline. It’s the first of many (many) tragedies to happen to the character, inspiring him to become a hero in the first place. Sam Raimi provides enough room for Uncle Ben’s character to develop before arriving at the inevitable conclusion.
Cliff Robertson’s heartfelt monologue summarises the essence of Spider-Man. “With great power comes great responsibility” has become one of the most enduring phrases in pop culture, adding a more profound layer to Raimi’s trilogy. And while Uncle Ben has little screentime, his presence remains throughout the entire trilogy, thanks in large part to his now-immortal words.
4 Aunt May’s Advice
Tumblr media
Rosemary Harris remains the most compelling and memorable cinematic Aunt May. She imbued the role with plenty of warmth and empathy, avoiding the one-dimensional approach of subsequent movies. Harris’ Aunt May wasn’t just another peripheral character; on the contrary, she was Peter’s anchor, a constant source of inspiration for both the boy and the hero.
Her role as Peter’s guide is blatantly clear during her monologue in Spider-Man 2. While she packs her things to move out from her house, she talks to Peter about the nature and importance of heroism. Her speech is the gentle push Peter needed to understand the true role of his superhero counterpart. It’s a sweet but unforgettable moment that confirms Aunt May’s importance in the friendly neighborhood Spidey’s life.
3 Goblin’s Last Flight
Tumblr media
Throughout the Raimi trilogy, Harry Osborn suffers almost as many ups and downs as Peter himself. The loss of his father leaves him devastated and desperate to find someone to blame, leading to his descent into the Green Goblin persona. Alas, Harry was never his father, and he proves it at the last moment.
RELATED: 10 Most Powerful Variants Of Green Goblin In Marvel Comics
Sporting the Goblin costume, Harry goes to help Peter fight Venom and the Sandman. The two confirm their friendship, and Harry bravely dies fighting the enemies. Harry’s sacrifice continues the recurring theme in the trilogy that every victory comes with a steep price. It’s also a perfect send-off for the character and a way to restore the Osborn legacy.
2 Mary Jane’s Upside-Down Kiss
Tumblr media
For all its strengths, the Raimi trilogy has one undeniable flaw, and that’s its treatment of Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker’s main love interest in the comics and most movies. The character barely received any development beyond her damsel in distress role. Still, Mary Jane is a crucial figure in superhero movies; she defined the “superhero girlfriend” role for better and worse.
Out of all her moments in the trilogy, Mary Jane’s most memorable is her upside-down kiss in the rain with Spider-Man. It’s not only one of the most iconic scenes in modern cinema, but a perfect summary of MJ and Peter’s relationship. The setup may seem a tad outdated under a 2021 eye, but Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire’s chemistry is so electric that fans can let go of the more dubious elements of the scene and enjoy the romantic aspect.
1 Spider-Man Stops A Train
Tumblr media
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man remains as beloved now as he was back then. His take on Peter Parker gained new life thanks to the internet; indeed, Maguire’s Spidey is the king of memes, from Bully Maguire to the now-iconic “I missed the part where that’s my problem.”
However, this Spider-Man remains a blueprint for cinematic superheroes, thanks to his many heroic moments on screen. None is more memorable or inspiring than his efforts to stop a speeding train in Spider-Man 2. The scene works not only as an action setpiece but as a demonstration of Peter’s strongest power: his perseverance. Peter will never stop trying, even if all the odds are against him. Spider-Man is so relatable because he makes multiple mistakes and spends his time trying to fix them. But the point is, he will always try, and the train scene is the perfect representation of Spider-Man’s essence.

Thor & Spiderman : @LittleBlondieCosplay & @HenryStricks
I met the love of my life through a cosplay meet at London MCM around 4 years ago, since we've been together he's pulled me out of some serious depressive states, boosted my confidence an incredible amount and reminded me that life is worth carrying on for. We cosplay together and we're always coming up with new costumes to do together!
Tumblr media
LITTLE BLONDIE : It was at a Fairy Tail meet and the first time we met we didn’t really talk much! (I was WAY too shy!) I was doing a female version of Natsu Dragneel and he was doing a male version of Erza Scarlett. The meets were incredibly fun and welcoming, the second time we met (at the Fairy Tail meet the next con!) I was Serah from Final Fantasy and he was a male Milliana (from Fairy Tail) and he gave me his cloak because i was suffering from the cold so bad!
We then started talking more over Facebook and were together in a matter of months! We've been going strong for 4 years now and still cosplay together!
HENRY : Personally I really enjoyed the meet that we did meet at, everyone was friendly to each other and we play D&D with the old admins of the group to this day.
What got me into cosplay was the simple fact that I wanted to go to con, and everyone was doing it so I figured 'why not' ! I don't think I’m as deep into all of it as Emily is but it's still an amazing amount of fun to meet up with our regular 'con fam/ con friends' at conventions and outside of the con too!
Though its strange seeing people out of costume sometime. We've cosplayed so many characters (her more than I) and met so many cool photographers and videographers over the years too.
LITTLE BLONDIE : Cosplay became a sort of escape for me, something i could really throw myself into to get away from whatever was on my mind at that time, i was having a few issues with being bullied at college, and even went through a very toxic relationship when i started cosplaying, so I think that pushed me further into the cosplay community, because everyone was (and still is) so very nice, I made a whole new bunch of friends and family and I wouldn't change a single thing.

She-ra!! (part 1)
Good morning! As you may have noticed, I decided to add a new entry on my journal routine: every Tuesday I will show you a single set, not a collection.
And from the title, you can easily tell what is the topic of this new entry, She-ra! This weekend I bing watched the 5# season on Netflix and I was so ispired to do a Bjd version! I will miss this show soooo much now that is gone, I really want more episodes...
Tumblr media
I have to say that it has been a very long time since I fell so in love with a tv show, even if I wasn’t a big fan of the 80s version (I have seen it when I was a child but I don’t remember much) I think it is so full of positive messages and representation, we needed a show like this from a long time, especially if we consider it is a show for young people.
I will not write a full review here as there is plenty around the web, but I really suggest you to check out the show!
The animation is just average-good, modern anime get us used to excellent quality levels, but every character is so well characterized (well, the main ones, the background cast are just...background unfortunately) and as I said it is full of positive messages and LGBT representations that are still lacking in most tv shows, most of all the ones for young peoples... in conclusion, it is not the BEST show ever but a very interesting example in the wide world of the tv shows! How I wish a show like this when I was a teenager!
Going back to the costume, I will not spoiler you the new costume of this latest season (even if you probably have seen it in the Netflix thumbnail as I did) and also because I do not like it very much, I decided to make the first one, very different from the 80s one but very fitting for this new teen reboot!
I was already studing this costume when the first season aired because I was thinking of cosplaying She-ra in some conventions (as right now I have almost the same bodytype), I am still thinking about it... never say never...
Let’s start talking about the...
- Materials
I chosed white spandex for the main part of the costume: the top and the shorts, golden spandex for the details (with some foam structure inside to keep the shape) and red cady fabric for the cape - I have already used this fabric for a Thor cape some times ago and even if it is a bit pricey compared to my usual materials but it is really worth the price! It has the perfect flow and the look...speaks for itself! -
For the chest and the tiara’s gems I will use some glass gems I bought from Aliexpress some time ago, painted with different nailpolish; for the shoes, the armbands and the tiara I will use foam and fabrics...I am still thinking about making the sword or not...we’ll see....
Tumblr media
 - Step 1: patterns
I decided to use the patterns I did for the pajamas set with a few alterations.
For the top I used the t-shirt base without the sleeves (I am still thinking about making a binder - a sport bra to compress the chest, often used for female cosplayers to do male characters - because these dolls have sooo much breast compared to the original character...)
Tumblr media
For the shorts I used the pattern for the pajama pants, already altered to make some leggins a while ago (I will show you their set in a few weeks)
Tumblr media
When the She-ra set will be done you will find the PDF pattern pieces, including accessories, in my Etsy shop.   Done with the bases, last’s start with the...
- Step 2: shorts
I decided to start from the shorts because I tought they will be the quickest piece, so after cutting the white spandex base I started to handmade sew the golden stripes on the sides...you will see A LOT of handsewing in this project!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before joining the two parts I decided to give the stripes a good press and I fitted them on my model doll to check the lenghts.
Tumblr media
After I decided the hem lenghts I sewn waist and legs with a very tiny zig zag stitch on my machine and i noticed that the spandex elasticity was enough to not use an elastic band on the waist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(After seeing them with the top on I then decided to shorten them for the second time because I didn’t like the final lenght) With the shorts done, it was time for the...
- Step 3: top
I made the base in white spandex but before joining the pieces I decided to do the crest on the front.
Tumblr media
As you can see in the pictures, at the beginning I was going for a single piece, a top with a flared bottom, but in the end I decided to redo this part because I didn’t like the “skirt”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided also to add two little darts on the bust because these dolls have really too much breast! As everythig is soo small in this project it was almost all handsewn, so I decided to discard my initial idea to make the crest with foam covered in golden spandex and I went for a golden spandex cut-out, handsewn obviously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After finishing the crest I decided to wait until the end of the top to add the glass bead because I will probably work with this piece a lot! So i decided to go on with the flared part and to do the final version of it. Firsty of all I cut away the wrong part,
Tumblr media
then I redraw it as a half circle “skirt” in three parts, one for the back and two for the front, with the center front slightly shorter than the back. I was thinking about leaving the raw edge but in the end I made a little zig zag stitch just like the shorts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then, for ending with the white spandex, I made a tiny hight neck collar, mostly handmade as well. I was thinking about the usual stripe of velchro fastener in the back but I noticed that a small slit on the back was enough to fit the doll’s head, so I didn’t add it but only a small snap button on the neck (most of the back will be hidden with the cape anyway...)
Tumblr media
To finish the top I started to make the epaulettes, with 2 mm foam as a base. I drafted the basic shape in paper pattern, then I made it two times in foam and then on a double layer of golden spandex.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I sewn the little gap with tiny handmade stiches and the I attached them on the sleeve cap with some others handsewn stitches.
Tumblr media
This is the (almost) finished top! Isn’t it lovely? My fangirl soul is so eager to finish this costume!
Tumblr media
This is a little preview with the flared part attached...I’m alredy in love!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Step 4: cape and belt
Before starting with the accessories, that I will probabily show you in Part 2, I made the cape and the belt to finish the base of the costume.
For the cape I made an half-circle to add more volume at the hem and I also made the top wider than the shoulders so I can gather it a bit more.
Tumblr media
(BONUS PIC - Salem wants to try the cape on)
Tumblr media
I really love the look of it! I put the cape aside for now because I still need white thread on my machine so I will hem it later on...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the belt I decided to sewn it onto the top instead of doing another single piece (also to hid the waist seam because I didn’t like that much)
I made a mock up with white spandex to check the lenght and the V depth, then I use this mock up as the pattern for the final one on golden spandex.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is the finishe top! I really like it and I cant’ wait to finish this project! As finishing touches I still need to add the glass bead on the crest and the snap button on the neck.
Tumblr media
See you on Thursday as usual for the second part of this loooong entry where I will show you the accessories and the final look.
See ya!
Chiara (StregaCorvina)
Bentornati!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Step 4: mantello e cintura
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A presto!

With miles morales coming out and having super positive reviews similar to the first game, why do you think insomniac was able to make two successful spider man games while Crystal dynamics failed so badly at making a good avengers game?
There’s a couple reasons:
First and foremost? Focus. In the first game, peter is our protagonist. Everyone and their mother knows the origin by now so they smartly skip over it and instead deliver something Spidey games haven’t given us. An adult peter Parker story. He’s out of college, he’s living on his own, he’s been Spider-Man on his own for eight years. The story focuses on Peter Parker and his relationships. May, MJ, Martin Li, Norman, Harry, and of course Otto.
Miles’ game is focused on coming into your own. I’ve said to myself that the first mission of the game is what Spider-Man Homecoming wishes it was big with White miles. Miles wants to be Spider-Man, he wants to make Peter proud because he looks up to him and he’s the OG Spider-Man. And it’s him realizing he doesn’t need to be like Peter’s Spider-Man, he’s gotta be his Spider-Man.
Avengers however decides to do what Justice league did and introduces five Avengers at once with us knowing nothing about them or their relationships with each other, Kamala is the only one we’re introduced through since she’s the protagonist and we get an idea of who she is.
Obviously everyone knows the film versions of the Avengers but from what I’ve seen these guys aren’t that. We’re led to believe that these heroes have been on a team for years but they bicker and argue like they’re still working things out. And as soon as Cap ‘dies’ they fall apart.
Kamala has a good arc of stepping up and finding out who she is as a hero, but honestly? That doesn’t need to be an avengers game. That’s a Kamala Kahn game! It’s a personal story, now I don’t read Team books, I don’t read Avengers, Justice League, Champions, or X-men. But I have read Titans. And what interested me in that story was the relationships between the characters.
If the focus of the game was instead the Avengers trying to move on and find a way to still be heroes after their leader died? That’s instantly a more compelling story than Moodok making inhumans.
Secondly. Gameplay.
Both Spider-Man games are perfect for a third person Action Adventure game type. The characters work extremely well with combat style that is similar to Arkham, web swinging is MADE for an open world game.
Avengers, is a Gotcha Game. Its fucking greedy as all hell with microtransactions, skins, gear, etc. it’s like Destiny. And the structure of the game just doesn’t make sense for a team based game! Single player story missions are not bad, that’s a solid idea. But multiplayer is four people (not even the full avengers team) doing capture the flag/hold the spot missions?!?
This game should have been left 4 Dead, but with Avengers. Long linear levels with Tom’s of challenging special enemies anf tons of grunts. With each character having a unique play style abd way to traverse. As well as certain character actions. Hulk and Thor are the strongest so only they can move the rubble while the others defend them.
Black widow and Cap are the best hand to hand fighters so they can go through grunts easier but have harder times with special enemies. They’re a team, make it feel like a team!
Third: Deign.
I know I’m not the first or last person to say it but the designs for the avengers are not that great. Yeah they pulled from comics for certain costumes and some of them are actually really good. But their default looks?
Spider-Man wears his classic red and blues in the beginning of the game and miles gets his iconic in his and they both look like they fit in the world. The Avengers look bad. Tony’s armor is generic, Thor’s looks like it was made at a renaissance fair, and cap’s looks like a swat team member decided to put together a lazy Halloween costume. Kamala’s looks like cosplay but that works since it’s her.

MY IRON MAN SUIT JOURNEY (2013-2023) #shorts #3d #3dprinting #cosplay #m...
The suits that BG and power source and our son and daughter designed and will and Bill had input some of the pieces including the tackamac but it was BG who designed it with them they're real and this is cosplay but it's pretty much all that's out there except the movie but we understand that you don't get it entirely lots of you and it's weird cuz you're higher up than you actually have seen the real stuff it's really a suit. The suit comes in the suitcase it's the size of a little bit larger like 4 inches higher than the standard largest suitcase for the airport and the way they designed it and it's a new one this year open the case and it slides out easily you put half of it on and the other half rises up no it folds on to you and encapsulates you and seals and it's lighter armor but it's very real and you can have it wherever you are if the city breaks into an action you pull it out of your trunk and you put it on or you put it on your apartment and you escape and your fly car or you're trying maneuver out and it keeps you alive a lot of people survive because they put this new suit on it takes about 10 seconds to put it on I used to take about 20 minutes
Thor Freya her son wants to make the cosplay that you can take on it off and wear the suit underneath and by suit I mean Tony Stark suit with the sunglasses and he might be able to once his eyes start to heal LOL it's a nightmare but really he's good at it and he can probably make it if you can remember how he designed it and that's what she comes in for and she said she'll help out it's true too this is a really really nice invention
I can see it now him arriving at Comic-Con and then checking out what he has in the case and saying it's a two-part costume and whipping that thing on would be the most exciting thing I've ever experienced and he's into all sorts of weird stuff he doesn't want to do playing stuff he would have the light on the chest and light in the eyes and he would have lasers you could see impulse out of the hands I mean he's intense about these things fake rockets and noises and a speaker and it have the money to do it and this kits and stuff. And all of it is practically just stick it on there and he loves it I'll tell you that would be the most interesting day in my life and everybody would start buying those things and try to sell the mine I mean that would be intense you you have not experienced anything until you see what he's talking about it's like a they used to have these casket like things and you it was kind of fit your body and then you close it and that's what it is but it's a suit and you're alive and it Shields you I mean it is intense how fast it is and how much how well it works and you bring it to your hotel and you put the charger on just like you would have bicycle it is the weirdest thing I've ever experienced and people knowing it's like an exosuit too and people know what it is but they let me use it cuz they want to see it and yeah it's very dangerous but it protects me and I don't have it no I do because of him if it wasn't because of him I probably wouldn't be here I've been through explosions and nightmarish gunfights that start out in the middle of nowhere and I have this and I can put it on and I can leave real fast okay this thing goes real fast faster than I can move my legs it's too fast but he can move as fast as a machine I've never seen a human being go as fast as he goes and he says I've never seen someone with a disability do as much as I have and it's true I don't think anybody else like me has done this I work with people and I finally have gotten some protection that was a nightmare it will happen for him soon these two are a nightmare and I see why in as hell and they're wearing suits that we designed and they're going to use them and we have to have them do it and submission but boy do they go through a lot just to do something like that just drive up there with a new freaking pancake thing that he invented pancake House for Titan for Christ's sake think of something else well we know is he says they want us to do this so we're going to and it's stupid
Bg
Hahaha Don't laugh you get that teeny little car because of me he says oh that's great how am I going to be the real emperor of all mankind in that little tinky car and while you know it's kind of funny cuz big people can fit in it
Trump
