would love to know which romance novels youāve enjoyed!! i feel like we share a lot of āstandardsā so it would be pretty likely for me to enjoy anything you recommend.
p.s.: have you read any emily henry books? i feel like you might like those. <3
i have not read emily henry but i've heard pretty good things! i actually have a copy of beach read on my shelf that i am hoping to get to this summer. thank you for the recommendation! <3 will talk about some romance novels i've enjoyed under the cut. i am always accepting recs btw!!
my platonic ideal of a contemporary romance novel is evvie drake starts over by linda holmes. the setting feels real, the characters feel real and have real problems, the emotional stakes are proportionate and believable. bonus points for the portrayal of baseball and the main guy's relationship with baseball feeling normal and real. linda holmes's books (i also really enjoyed flying solo, tho not as much as evvie drake) are so character-driven that it almost feels like the romance arcs are secondary to the character arcs, which is ideal to me personally!!
i read a lot more historical romance than contemporary because i find it easier to get over the "that's not how that works!!" of it all in historicals, for reasons not worth elaborating on here. i tend to enjoy kj charles because she's very good at having a strong exteral plot in addition to strong characters! think of england is my fav of hers. for het historical romance i really liked courtney milan's brothers sinister series (esp. the countess conspiracy) and tessa dare's girl meets duke series (can't remember which one i liked best but i listened to them on audiobook at work and i do remember having to stop during a sex scene because i was like oh my god this is actually hot i can't listen to this at work LMAO). i have read every bridgerton and they're all a little dated and some are more mid than others but the francesca book, when he was wicked, is the best one imo.
i liked bringing down the duke by evie dunmore but i did not like the sequel so i haven't read more of hers š
it's not structured quite like a traditional romance novel but i really loved peter darling by austin chant, a gay trans peter pan retelling.
i do want to give a shoutout to a romance novel i did NOT think i would enjoy but wound up actually liking a lot, canadian boyfriend by jenny holiday. i was going to skip it because i don't like alternating first person pov but my coworker who loved it told me joshua jackson does the male pov chapters in the audiobook and i was like. fine i will listen to joshua jackson. and i had plenty of quibbles with the book (for one thing i thought the whole book could have been done without the central "fake canadian boyfriend" premise and might have been better for it, lol) but i was surprised by how moved i was by the male lead's complicated grief as a widower and i thought the hockey parts felt realistic and good. going in i was also like urgh ough hockey player/ballet dancer romance is gonna go so hard on the big strong man/tiny dainty woman of it all but it DIDN'T, and i thought the female lead's relationship with dance was nuanced and interesting. i don't think i could have read this book with my eyes due to the povs but the audiobook with alternating narrators worked nicely. and definitely not a perfect book (if i were to rate it on goodreads i'd probably do like a 3.5 rounded down?) but i liked it so much more than i expected to and i feel like i need to demonstrate that i am NOT a hater by default and i CAN be a generous reader when i think a book has earned it š

This chapter was so much! My emotions are all over the place, and I definitely have whiplash š
š¤ But the smangst!!!! The smangst, oh my God, you killed me with it and it was absolutely perfect *chefās kiss* š
I love that she met Garth! šš And I loved that she still hunted with Annie and helped where she could. I loved seeing the other hunterās side. Sam and Dean might figth the devil, but Iām sure there were so many others that helped and tried to keep people safe as best as they could!
I also loved that Sam called her to say goodbye and essentially told her to watch out for his brother. That was such a sweet Sam moment, and I really adore this little glimpses into their friendship as well š„°
Now to the real nitty-gritty ā Dean showing up on her doorstep, completely broken was so accurate and heartbreaking š The back and forth between them was so intense and had me on the edge of my seat screaming at my screen! You described his emotions and feelings so beautifully, even through Julieās POV. You could really feel his pain and hurt over losing his brother and the way he feels about himself, like he doesnāt deserve to be with Julie. God, Linda, this was masterful šššš
Dean was there still, on the little stoop that led to the motel door, and as Julie watched, he slowly slumped onto the third step up as though he'd been deflated. Ā He dropped his head into his hands, pushing them through his short hair so that they cupped the back of his head and his elbows rested against his knees.
This moment was absolutely devasting to read and so well described! You feel everything here and hate seeing him like this šš„ŗ I loved how their fight culminated and intensified until Dean couldnāt fight it any longer and gave up. And I-... Excuse me, Iāll go have a shower cry now š
But Iām glad he stayed this time, and he had both Julie and Bobby around to take care of him, even though he was a bit of an ass ā okay, huge ass! š
(We still love our grumpy, grieving bear, tho š¤) Itās also so interesting to read his whole journey of grieving Sam, trying to move on, and fighting his depression. I liked that it was slow-building and you could really see and feel his progress. A few times I wanted to legit strangle him, though, when he tried to push her away so many times, but Iām glad Julie never gave up on him ā¤ļø
"I know. Ā I know it's not me your mad at. Ā And when you need to yell, tell me, I'll yell with you. Ā We can go stand out in the yard and scream till our throats hurt."Ā
Ā Yes, please ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøšš
And dear Lord, their little moment of heated passion was so raw and emotional š„µ But of course, Dean had to run out and have... a mental breakdown? I think thatās fair to say. He did punch Bobby (š³).Ā
"I'm sorry, Dean, I don't mean to laugh, but...you used me?" Ā
Bless her. His argument made me genuinely laugh, too. What a sweet idiot šš¤
"God, I love you."
Julie sucked in a breath. Ā "What?" she asked quietly, afraid he'd try to retract the statement. Ā
But he just smiled softly. Ā "So much, Jules. Ā So much." Ā
FUCKING FINALLY!!!!! š„³ļæ½ļæ½ā¤ļø
Another fantastic chapter, my love šš Youāre rocking this series!!!!
Green is My Favorite Color Ch. 12
Pairings: Dean x Fem!OFC
Explicit 18 +/Warnings: Angst - so much angst, grief, talk of major character death, smut, p in v, some fingering, slightly rough sex, unprotected sex, Dean being an asshole (kind of), fluff.
Word Count: 7, 506 (sorry for another long chapter!)
Series Summary: Dean has been her hero from childhood, can she ever get him to be more?
|| Series Masterlist ||
Chapter Summary: How will Dean cope with Sammy gone? How can Julie try to heal him?
A/N: Ā The twelth chapter in a longer series. As Iām writing, the story is stretching out a little and Iām thinking itās going to be at least 20 chapters. Sorry! š¬ Itās what Iāll call cannon adjacent. It will follow the general storylines through the seasons, but Iām creating my own offshoots. š
The beautiful divider at the end was created by @talesmaniac89. š
3 months later (May 2010)
Julie pressed the ice pack to her shoulder, hoping to take away the worst of the ache. She and Annie had been exorcising a demon when his buddy had shown up ready to fight. The two women had managed to take down both demons, wrangling the second one into the devil's trap as well, and exorcising them both.
But not before demon #2 had landed a hard blow to Julie's shoulder; he'd been aiming for her head and she dodged at the right moment, but he still clipped her shoulder.
So now, hours later, she was sitting back at the motel, trying to recover while Annie had gone off to help another hunter friend Julie didn't know.
Everything was in chaos right now. There was so much demon activity that the network of hunters across the Midwest couldn't keep up with it.
Something about the upcoming battle of Armageddon seem to have them all excited and riled. That thought brought back the memory of her phone call with Sam two days before, when he told her the plan.
"What? Sam, that can't possibly be the only option!" Julie had said, completely horrified and blown away by what Sam was telling her.
"It is the only option. We can't kill him. So, the only thing we can do is try and get him back in the cage, and..." He paused for a moment but when he spoke again, his voice was full of conviction. "...and I'm the only one who can try to get control of him, and toss him back in."
"Besides," he said, his voice getting quieter. "I let him out, I've gotta put him back in."
Julie had tried to argue his point, but she couldn't come up with any possible alternative if they wanted Lucifer safely caged away again.
She talked with Sam another twenty minutes, with her trying to find solutions that didn't exist and Sam just trying to tell her goodbye. Finally they ended the call.
"Bye, Julie. You take care of my brother, okay? He's gonna be stubborn as hell, but I guess you already know that. But just promise me you won't give up on him too quickly."
Julie wiped away the tears Sam couldn't see, but the quaver in her voice gave them away anyway.
"I'll do whatever he'll let me do, Sam. I promise. But please don't say goodbye like we'll never see each other again." A sob broke through and she tried to squelch it.
"I refuse to say goodbye to you, Sam Winchester. I'll only say, see you later." She pushed down another sob. "So, I'll see you later."
She could almost see Sam's gentle smile as he answered. "I'll see ya, Julie."
After she got off the phone with Sam, she tried to reach Dean a couple of times, but wasn't surprised when he didn't answer. Stubborn, just like Sam said.
So, instead she reached out to Bobby.
"I want to come help, Bobby! I'm new, but I'm a good fighter and I feel like Armageddon is kind of an all hands on deck situation!"
"Sure, it is. That's why I need you and Annie here in Detroit, putting out fires around the city. I've contacted almost a dozen other hunters that I know around the country and warned them to be on the lookout for increased demon activity, and maybe even trouble from the angels. We need you guys to keep the world safe, while we try to keep it spinnin'."
Julie knew he was right, someone had to look out for the regular people and families while chaos reigned. But she couldn't help wanting to be there with them all. She also could help feeling that Bobby was happy to have an excuse to keep her far away from the devil at ground zero.
So, she and Annie, and a handful of other hunters that Julie was meeting for the first time, did the best they could to keep everything running and save as many people as possible.
There was some distrust from the other hunters about working with Julie, since they didn't know her or her capabilities. But Annie vouched for her and Julie felt happy that she'd been able to hold her own with the more experienced hunters.
One of the men, a sweet, slightly odd guy named Garth, gave her his card and told her he'd be happy to work with her again and to call him any time she needed a hand. She tucked it away in her back pack, happy to have made an ally.
Now, she sat alone in the motel room, watching the news reporting flash floods, and shooting stars, freak storms and and earthquakes. She had to give the anchors credit for staying calm while they reported the end of the world.
She washed down a couple painkillers and hoped they did a better job at relieving the ache in her shoulder than the rapidly warming ice pack.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door, quiet and tentative. The world being what it was, she picked up her shotgun as she went to the door to look out the peephole.
When she saw who was on the other side, she wrenched the door open as she rested her shotgun against the wall.
"Dean." she breathed out as she looked at him, tall and solid and seemingly in one piece.
But then she caught his gaze, and his eyes, dear god, his eyes were just bottomless pools of pain and hurt.
Julie looked behind him where Baby sat parked and empty.
"Bobby?" she asked.
Dean's mouth twitched in a parody of a smile. "He's good. He's...he went back to his place, he figured there'd be lots of hunters looking for help, so he's manning the hub."
Julie nodded, relief flooding her while trepidation and heartbreak still sat heavy in her stomach.
"Sam?" she asked, her voice nearly silent.
Another ghost of a smile graced his lips and his jaw clenched. "He...he got him. He..." his breaths were becoming shallow. "He won. He's.." He swallowed convulsively for a minute, and Julie knew he was trying to swallow down the pain and grief.
"He's gone."
Julie put her fingertips against her mouth. "Dean." she whispered before she wrapped her arms tightly around his waist praying he would allow it.
He hesitated a minute before he pulled her as close to him as he could and more or less fell on her shoulder.
He buried his face in her neck and in her hair that was loose around her shoulders. He leaned on her heavily, as though he was having trouble standing under his own power, and Julie struggled to keep from buckling under him.
But she stood strong, desperate to be there where he needed her to be. She was determined not to start crying, trying to keep her emotions in check so he wouldn't feel he needed to comfort her.
It was a hope that became impossible as she felt his massive frame begin to shake and broken, guttural sounds start to issue from him. It took her a second to realize he was crying; raw, harsh, choked tears that sounded as though his body didn't remember how to do it. When she heard his broken, bleeding grief, she couldn't keep her own tears from falling.
But she stood in the doorway with him, running her hands up and down his back and reaching up to try and run her fingers through his hair, placing kisses wherever she could reach which was mostly his shoulder and the side of his neck.
After a few minutes had passed Dean pulled himself off of her, silent now and staring at the ground.
"I'm sorry." He said, obviously embarrassed.
"Don't you dare be sorry." Julie said as she led him out of the doorway so she could finally close the door. "You have nothing to be sorry for."
She led him over to the little loveseat that sat under the window and pushed him gently onto it. His movements seemed disjointed and confused as though he couldn't quite remember how he'd got there.
Julie moved off and put some coffee on, hoping that a good strong cup of coffee might help Dean get rid of some of the fogginess he seemed to be moving in. She knew he'd probably prefer a stiff drink, but she had nothing there, not even a beer.
Probably best that he doesn't start drinking anyway, Julie thought, coffee is better.
As the coffee started to drip into the pot, she watched Dean and tried hard not to start crying all over again. He sat in the exact position she'd pushed him into, not moving a muscle, just staring at the ground. His face was a blank mask, expressionless now that his wracking sobs had ended.
As soon as there was a cupful of coffee in the pot, she pulled it out, the still brewing coffee dripping and hissing against the hot plate, as she filled one of the white china cups on the counter.
She brought it over to Dean and sat down beside him on the couch. When he didn't seem to notice her, she pressed the cup into his hand and he startled, looking as though she'd woken him up from a deep sleep.
"Coffee." She said with what she hoped was a reassuring smile. "It's good and strong."
Dean looked down at the cup, his brow furrowed. Julie reached out her hand to run it down his cheek, but as soon as her fingers touched his skin, he jumped back as though she'd burned him, managing to actually burn himself when the scalding hot coffee spilled over his hand.
"Oh God, Dean. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
Dean cut her off. "What am I doing here?"
For a second Julie was worried he was suffering some kind of memory loss from trauma, but it soon became obvious, as he set the cup down and wiped his burned hand on his green jacket, that the question had been a rhetorical one.
He stood up and seemed at a loss for a moment, until Julie stood up too. Then he looked at her and scowled, shaking his head again.
"I shouldn't be here." He mumbled as he turned toward the door.
Julie leapt after him, pushing under his arm as he reached for the door so that she blocked the door handle. He pulled up short and glared at her.
"Dean, just wait, talk to me."
But he shook his head. "No, I don't have time to talk. I don't know why I came here. Move."
"What do you mean, you don't have time to talk, where are you going?"
"Just get out of my way!" he bellowed at her.
When Julie remained where she was, he growled out a sound of frustration. "For once Julie - just one fucking time - can you just leave me alone and do what I ask!"
Julie knew he was angry and in pain, and like a wounded animal he was lashing out, but his words still slashed her open, drawing blood.
"Dean..." she tried again.
"Move!"
Blinking rapidly to keep her tears at bay she stepped aside and freed the door handle. Dean looked surprised for a minute and didn't move immediately. But then he pulled the door open and stormed through it, leaving it open behind him.
Julie waited to hear the sound of the Impala roaring to life, but it never came. Finally she walked around the still open door and looked outside.
Dean was there still, on the little stoop that led to the motel door, and as Julie watched, he slowly slumped onto the third step up as though he'd been deflated. He dropped his head into his hands, pushing them through his short hair so that they cupped the back of his head and his elbows rested against his knees.
Remembering her promise to Sam, Julie took her chances and walked down the steps to stand on the ground in front of him.
He lifted his head to look at her and his eyes were filled with tears.
"They're hurting him." His voice was barely audible but hearing the words, Julie felt pain squeeze her heart.
"They're...he's not just...it's gonna be even worse for him, he's locked up with Lucifer." He swallowed hard again. "My baby brother is being tortured by the devil, Jules, and I don't..." He broke off and closed his eyes tight, tears leaking out from under his long lashes.
He dug the heels of his hands into his eyes and when he pulled them away from his face, he'd successfully pushed the tears away.
"I just keep thinking that I can't just sit here. I can't just sit here and let you soothe me and comfort me while Sammy is being..."
"Dean, that's ridiculous." Julie scolded, cutting him off, but keeping her voice gentle. "Do you think that someone caring for you means you don't care about what's happening to Sam? That if you find any kind of comfort, you're somehow making things worse for Sam?"
Dean didn't answer, simply dropping his head and allowing his hands to dangle between his knees. Julie walked closer to him and tilted his chin so he was looking up at her.
"Sam told me to take care of you, Dean. And I intend to keep my promise. So the first thing you're going to do is come inside and drink that cup of coffee while I pack up. Then you and I are going to get into that black beauty over there and go home to Bobby's."
She risked it and ran her hand down Dean's cheek again. This time he leaned into it, turning his head and kissing her palm. He looked up at her, his green eyes still filled with such pain, but also remorse now.
"I'm sorry, Jules."
Julie shook her head. "I know." She grabbed his other cheek with her other hand and bent forward slowly to place a gentle kiss on his lips.
"Come on, let's go home."
***
The next week was one of the most exhausting Julie had ever experienced. When they got back to Bobby's, Dean said he was just really tired and wanted to go to bed.
Julie brought him to her room and basically tucked him into her bed. She was glad she'd exchanged her old twin bed for a double when she'd come back after college. Dean never would have fit in that tiny thing.
That first night Dean seemed to sleep like the dead, straight through for thirteen hours, but then for the rest of the week, he never slept for more than two hours together.
For the first two days Bobby and Julie barely saw him. He just laid in Julie's room for hours. She would go in to check on him, and he'd either be lying in bed, or sitting up on the side of it, staring at nothing.
She'd tried to get him to come out for meals, but he kept refusing, so she'd started to bring him in food trays, but he'd barely touched any of that either.
On the third morning she went in to check on him, and he hadn't eaten any of the breakfast she'd brought him two hours before. He was sitting on the side of the bed this time and he looked up at her as she entered. Julie wanted to cry.
His eyes had dark purple shadows under them, his eyelids red-rimmed and painful looking. His cheeks were covered in thick scruff and his hair was completely disheveled from sleeping on it and no doubt constantly running his fingers through it.
He still wore the same black t-shirt and jeans he'd worn for the last three days, his leather jacket and flannel tossed in the corner on the floor.
"Hey." Julie said as she sat down beside him on the bed. "It's a really beautiful day out. Bobby has a part he needs for his car and I wondered if you wanted to take a ride with me in Baby to go get it." She nudged his shoulder gently. "Great day to hit the highway."
As soon as she said it, she wanted to take it back. Dean's eyes closed tight and she knew he was thinking about all the hours of open road he'd travelled with Sam. She knew just how special Baby was to both of them. She never should have suggested it.
Before she could say anything else, Dean just shook his head and laid down on the pillow. "Not today, Jules. I'm too tired."
Julie nodded and stood up. She reached out a hand and pushed it through his hair like she would a sick child. She felt Dean pull away a little and she dropped her hand.
"Okay, no problem." Julie said. "Maybe tomorrow." She hated the false note of positivity she put in her voice. It was so forced. She took the untouched, cold food away and closed the door behind her.
Later that evening, Julie went in with a dinner tray. His lunch tray showed only two bites taken out of the turkey sandwich she'd made him. But somehow beside him on the bedside table, was an almost empty bottle of whiskey that she had definitely not brought in.
She didn't bother wondering how the stealthy hunter had managed to sneak in and out of the bedroom without either Bobby or herself noticing.
Magic.
She picked it up and looked at him laying on his back staring up at the ceiling.
"Where did this come from?"
Dean turned bloodshot eyes in her direction. "Bobby's liquor cabinet. Where else?" His voice was nothing but gravel and grit and there was a slight slur to his words.
"Dean. It's probably not a great idea for you to get drunk right now."
He scowled at her. "Well, it's a good thing it's not up to you, because I think this is a perfect time to be drunk."
He sat up and grabbed the bottle out of her hand, opening it and taking another large swig.
Julie threw up her hands, exasperated. "You've barely eaten anything in three days, no wonder you're drunk off half a bottle of whiskey." Julie exchanged trays, setting the dinner tray where the lunch tray had been.
"Look, I made you a burger, extra onions." She tried to pull the bottle out of his hand, but he yanked it back, a few drops sloshing out of the open top.
"Jesus, Jules!! I'm not fucking hungry. Just stop trying to force feed me like I'm some kind of invalid." Dean shouted at her.
"Then stop acting like one!" Julie shouted back. She took a deep breath as he glared at her. "You have to move, Dean. You have to eat something, have a shower, get dressed in other clothes. I'm not saying you have to do that all at once. But pick one thing and do it."
Dean picked up the burger and took a bite of it, washing it down with another pull of whiskey. He set the burger back on the plate. "There, I ate something. Now fuck off."
He glared up at her and Julie spun away from him before she either burst into tears or smacked him across the face.
***
Later that night, Julie was sleeping on the couch as she had been since Dean took over her room, since he clearly didn't want her company. She woke up with a start, hearing Dean give a shout of fear.
She ran to the room and opened the door to see him sitting up on the side of the bed, breathing hard. When he looked up at her, all his previous wrath was gone and there was only fear and heartbreak.
He shook his head. "Sorry." he whispered. "Just a dream."
"I'm gonna be right back." Julie ran quickly out of the room and came back half a minute later with a quart of ice cream and two spoons.
She sat down beside him, leaving plenty of room between them, and handed him a spoon.
"One night, about thirteen years ago," Julie's voice was a whisper. "I woke up so scared and so lost. I didn't know what the next day would bring and I didn't know how I would keep moving forward."
She took a deep breath and took the lid off the ice cream and scooped some up on her spoon.
"Then this floppy-haired guy showed up in my doorway and scared the crap out of me."
Dean huffed out a sound that came close to being a laugh. Julie took it as encouragement.
"But then," she continued. "he brought me into the kitchen and tried to convince me that mint chocolate chip was the best flavor of ice cream."
She held out the tub of green ice cream towards him and he scooped up a spoonful of the minty, chocolatey dessert, closing his eyes as it hit his tongue. He pulled out the spoon and smiled slightly.
"It is still the best." He stated.
Julie shook her head. "No, you're still wrong. Rocky Road for life." Dean finally looked at her and there was a wider, sad smile on his face.
Julie took her own spoonful of ice cream and ate it before she continued. "But it didn't matter what flavor the ice cream was because the guy worked his magic; he made me feel safe and protected. Like everything was going to be okay."
Julie set down the ice cream and got close to him, picking up his hand and rubbing the back of it.
"Now all I wanna do is make that guy feel the same way. Help him feel safe and protected, as though whatever tough things happen tomorrow, he'll be able to handle it and I wanna remind him that he's not alone, I'll be right there to help him."
Dean closed his eyes and dropped his forehead to hers. "Jules, I'm so sorry. I know I'm being an asshole, I keep yelling at you, but you're not..." he sighed deeply. "I'm sorry."
Julie nodded. "I know. I know it's not me your mad at. And when you need to yell, tell me, I'll yell with you. We can go stand out in the yard and scream till our throats hurt." Dean let out a breathy chuckle.
Julie stood up and grabbed the ice cream. "Here, I'll go get you an actual bowl of this, so the rest of it doesn't melt."
As she moved away, Dean snagged her wrist. "No don't go. Just let it melt. Stay here with me."
Julie was about to scoff at him and say he could wait less than two minutes until she put the ice cream away.
But then she saw something in his expression, something that reminded her that asking her to stay, admitting he needed her with him, was incredibly hard for him, and she worried that making light of it at all would make him pull back into himself.
So, she just nodded and set the ice cream on the plate with the burger where it would melt into liquid. Dean laid down and pulled her down beside him so she was lying on her back. He laid mostly on his stomach, wrapping his arms around her and laying his head against her breast.
His body felt tense against her so she began to run one hand through his hair while the other hand rubbed up and down his back as far as she could reach.
Slowly, minute by minute, she began to feel him relax against her. She started to hum something soft that she vaguely remembered her mother singing to her when she'd put her to bed. She was sure she was remembering it wrong, but her voice was soft and slow and soothing and she could feel it working as the muscles in his back loosened and his breathing evened out into the cadence of sleep.
Eventually, she could feel her own eyelids getting heavy and her last thought was to hope that when the sun rose, it wouldn't burn away all the tranquility and peace they'd found in the night.
***
The next few days seemed better.
The next morning, Dean woke up beside her and kissed her cheek before he got up out of bed. A few minutes later she heard the shower start.
He came into the kitchen about twenty minutes later, his hair still damp, dressed in new black jeans and a blue denim shirt. He was so handsome, Julie felt her mouth run dry. She felt bad for lusting after him while he was still so vulnerable and hurting, but she couldn't help it, he was just so beautiful all the time.
He poured himself a cup of coffee and sat down at the table with them, eating a few pieces of bacon and some toast.
There was an awkward kind of joviality between them, as though all of them were trying to pretend things were okay now. But it was a brittle kind of happiness and after about an hour Dean looked exhausted.
He stood up and kissed Julie on the head. "I'm just gonna lay down for a bit."
"Sure." Julie said, wanting to add that she knew how much effort it had taken him to do everything he did that morning, and how proud she was of him for his strength, and that she knew how badly he was still hurting every second, and that she didn't expect him to be okay over night and he shouldn't expect it either, and that she loved him no matter what, always and forever.
But since she knew that would be way too much for Dean to take in, she settled for reaching out and squeezing his hand as he walked away.
The next couple days Dean continued to get up in the mornings and eat with them. He was still eating very little, especially for Dean, but he was consuming food and that was all Julie could ask. He worked on some kind of chore in the mornings, working on Baby or a different car in Bobby's yard, or fixing things around the house.
Julie knew how much he loved to work with his hands, and how good he was at taking things apart, finding the problem and putting everything back together again. She hoped that these simple tasks were helping him to feel some kind of sense of control at a time, when he must be feeling powerless.
He was still barely sleeping, and when he did, his sleep was plagued with nightmares that he never talked about. Without either of them discussing it, Julie had stopped sleeping on the couch and now slept beside him every night.
One night, just over a week after he'd lost Sam, Julie woke up again to Dean moaning and jerking in his sleep. Every other night this had happened, Julie just shook him awake and then let him squeeze her too hard as his heart stopped racing and his breathing returned to normal.
This time, however, she couldn't get him to wake. His face was twisted in an expression of torment and she shook him harder.
"No! No!" Dean was almost whispering. "Please, please stop!"
It was the first time he'd said actual words instead of just moaning or breathing roughly.
Julie felt tears burn the back of her throat as she tried again to shake him awake.
"Dean! Honey, wake up!" she called over and over. Finally after nearly two minutes of trying, she shook him and he jumped up, pushing her away from him, as he tried to take in where he was.
The look of confusion and abject horror on his face made Julie have to swallow over and over so that she wouldn't give in to the tears that were threatening to overflow.
She held up her hands. "It's okay, Dean. You're home, with me. Here. At Bobby's." She caught his eye and tried to nod reassuringly. "Remember?" she asked.
She saw the moment reality overtook the remnants of the dream and his shoulders slumped forward. He just stared down at his hands in his lap.
Dean and Julie were facing each other on the bed and Julie tried to catch his gaze again to see how he was recovering, but he just kept staring at his hands, palms up in his lap.
His voice was muffled with sleep and sadness when he spoke. "It was me...I was...Sam was on my table...on the rack in front of me and I was.." He trailed off and Julie saw tears fall into his open palms.
"I was cutting into him, slicing...and...I was screaming in my head to stop, trying to make myself see that it was Sammy...and he was..."
Dean choked slightly, trying to force the tears down. "He was begging me to stop, he was..." Dean let his face fall into his hands, covering it completely. "He was screaming...so loudly..."
Julie couldn't take anymore, she couldn't hear him describe such a horrifying dream any longer. She climbed into his lap and wrapped her arms as far as they would go around him with his arms still clutched around his head.
Desperate to do anything that would take away those images Julie just clung to him, at a loss of how to fix it.
Suddenly Dean grabbed her by the upper arms and pushed her away from him only to grab her face and pull her to him for a deep, wild kiss.
Julie could taste both their tears on their lips as she opened her mouth and felt Dean's tongue sweep in and ravage her mouth. He pushed her onto her back and moved his kiss, still open-mouthed and urgent, down her neck.
"Please." Dean said, his voice desperate and pleading. "God, please Jules. Just, I need you. Please, let me..." he trailed off, not giving her specifics of what he wanted her to let him do. But it didn't matter, because she would have done anything if it meant giving him a moment of peace.
"Yes." She said simply. "Yes."
And with her permission, Dean began to move his mouth down her body, frantically running his hands up and down her skin, as though he wanted to touch all of her all at once.
"Fuck, Jules..." he pushed her tank top up and took hold of her bare breast underneath, squeezing and kneading it almost painfully. He laved his tongue across her nipple before moving further down her body.
He slipped his hand into her pajama shorts and groaned when he found her with no panties, and completely soaking wet for him already.
"Jules, I need you so much." He was breathing harshly in her ear as his teeth tugged at her earlobe and Julie let out a small gasp. "I just need your...life...and your light...the...you're so beautiful, I just need it. Please? God, please Jules." He mumbled incoherently.
Dean quickly pulled off her shorts and pulled down his jeans and seconds later Julie felt his cock pushing through her slick folds. She moaned at the feeling.
Finally, he thrust into her and Julie bit hard on her lip to stop from crying out. He rammed into her hard and fast and Julie pressed her fingernails into his shoulders.
Dean reached down and rubbed three fingers hard against the bundle of nerves that were screaming out for his touch and Julie reared up against him.
As he pounded into her, she could feel herself about to climax and knew he was close too by how erratic his movements had become. As he continued to move against her, his mouth was on her pulse point, sucking hard. As he let go of her bruised flesh, he panted into her ear.
"Fuck Jules, please make the dark go away."
"Yes!" Julie moaned back to him, not able to say anything more as she felt her walls squeezing around him as he thrust one final time, groaning harshly into the crook of her neck, pulling slightly on her hair while his body was rigid over her, shudders coursing through him.
Finally, he rolled off of her and lay still, panting to catch his breath. In much the same condition Julie pulled the blanket up over her rapidly cooling skin.
She heard Dean's breathing steady and even out and thought he was falling asleep. She felt her own heavy eyelids falling and her tired muscles welcomed the velvety comfort of sleep.
But she was startled awake not long after as she heard the bedroom door open and saw Dean walking out. Assuming he was going to the bathroom, it wasn't until she heard the front door open that she sat up and quickly grabbed her pajama shorts off the floor.
She barely got them on in time to run out of the bedroom and out of the front door as Dean turned over the Impala's engine. She ran up to the driver's door.
"Dean what are you doing?" she asked, banging on the window a little frantically, completely at a loss for what was going on and why he was leaving in the middle of the night. She stepped away from the car as he revved the engine, not wanting her bare toes to be run over by the black beast.
But then as he started pulling away she panicked completely and ran out in front of the car forcing Dean to slam on the brakes.
Dean slammed the car into park and pushed open his door. He stood half in and half out of the car.
"What the fuck are you doing?" he yelled at her over the engine's idling rumble. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Julie marched up to his door. "What the fuck are you doing, Dean Winchester?" she yelled back. "Are you insane? You just...I mean we just..." she couldn't find the words without getting them caught in her throat.
She settled on saying, "We were just together like that...and then you just take off into the night, without even a goodbye?" She pushed on the car door, just barely moving him. "What are you thinking?"
Dean's face was harsh. "I'm an asshole and a bastard so I was thinking that I should remove myself from your life. And I was thinking I could do that by going to find a way to get Sammy out. I figured I'd offer a trade." His words were rushed and rambling.
"You know, I mean Cas isn't answering any of my prayers about trying to get Sam out, so maybe there's a demon or two that will want to help, for a price of course, so I figured I'd offer myself up, get Sam out and get me the fuck out of your life."
He slammed the car door closed and walked away, yelling back. "Two birds with one stone, you know?!"
Julie just shook her head. "No, I don't know. I have no idea what's going on in your head right now and it's scaring the crap out of me. And let's also talk about how stupid you'd have to be to try and make more deals with demons!" Julie ended on a roar.
Dean cut across the end of her sentence. "It's not crazy when there are no other options!"
Dean was standing in the middle of the yard, yelling and waving his hands while Julie still stood by Baby and shook her head, completely at a loss.
It was that moment that Bobby came outside. "You two are gonna bring the law down on us if you don't stop all your screamin'. What's goin' on?" He asked, seeming to ignore the fact that he was yelling too.
Dean threw up his hands. "Nothing, Bobby. I'm leaving, just tell your crazy kid to move out of the way so I don't run her over."
But Bobby didn't like the sound of any of that, and he moved quickly to intercept Dean just before he reached the driver's side door.
"Now, calm down, son and tell me what's happening."
But Dean just tried to barrel through and when Bobby wouldn't back down and tried to hold Dean back, the younger man cocked his fist and smashed it into Bobby's mouth.
"Dean!" Julie shouted as she ran forward and crouched down beside Bobby. She looked up at Dean, full of confusion and anger.
Dean seemed momentarily shocked into stillness by Bobby on the ground nursing a split lip and Julie staring up at him, furious and hurt.
But then he just spun away and got into the Impala.
Julie helped Bobby sit up a bit more, as the Impala's tires spun and gravel shot out from underneath. Julie watched heartbroken as it sped away, but then it stopped just outside the "Singer Autos" gates.
The car sat there a minute, before Bobby pushed her toward it. "Go see him. Check on him."
"What? No. I need to help you."
Bobby scoffed and stood up. "It's a split lip, kid. I've had worse."
They both watched the car sit on the other side of the gates a moment before Bobby nodded toward the car and it's driver.
"Go on, darlin'. He needs you."
"He clearly doesn't or he wouldn't have tried to run away right after we..." Julie caught herself too late and looked at Bobby with very flushed cheeks. "I mean..."
Bobby cut her off with a grimace. "I know what you mean, just please stop talking to me about it and go talk to that idjit about it."
Julie reluctantly walked closer to the Impala, thinking with every step that it was going to just drive away.
But it didn't and she reached the driver's side door and looked through the window to see Dean slumped over the steering wheel. Julie banged hard on the window and found some petty satisfaction when he jumped at the sound.
He stared at her through the glass for a moment before he rolled down his window.
Pulling forth all the compassion and patience she possibly could, she spoke calmly. "Dean, for the love of god, shut the car off and come inside."
After a second, Dean cut the rumble of the engine, but made no move to go inside.
"Dean..." Julie began, feeling the patience already wearing thin.
"Can you come here instead?" Dean asked with a nod to the passenger seat.
Julie nodded and walked around to climb into Baby's warm, leathery interior. Silence reigned for quite a while and Julie just let it, trying to give them both time to recover, although since she had no idea what exactly had set Dean off, she couldn't possibly say what would help him calm down.
But time and silence seemed to do the trick because after a while Dean turned to face her with a deeply serious expression.
"Jules, I'm so sorry. I will never be able to tell you how sorry I am for what I did."
Julie shrugged. "Bobby's the one who should hear that apology. It was his lip you broke open."
Dean scowled and shook his head. "I'm not talking about what I did to Bobby, I'm talking about what I did to you."
Julie rolled her eyes and pursed her lips. "Well, it wasn't exactly a good time, but it's hardly the first time you yelled at me, and I was doing a fair amount of yelling back. And I did stupidly jump in front of the car, so it was hardly your fault that you almost hit me."
But before Julie was even halfway through her response Dean was looking at her like she was crazy. "That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about..." he paused and turned his head to look out the windshield. His voice was a whisper when he continued. "I'm talking about the fact that I used you."
Julie saw his jaw clench as he continued. "I used you...used your body as an outlet for my pain, my darkness...I...I'm so sorry."
Julie didn't mean to, she wasn't expecting to, but she just burst out laughing. Dean swung his head back around to face her, confusion furrowing his brow.
Julie tried to tamp down the laughter, but the whole idea was so ludicrous.
She laid one hand on his arm and used the other hand to cover her grin. "I'm sorry, Dean, I don't mean to laugh, but...you used me?" She shook her head. "Dean if you think for one second that I would have allowed you to 'use me' if I didn't want it, boy, you must have forgotten that I learned how to flip you on your ass well over a year ago."
Her expression was challenging him to disagree with her. When he didn't she eased into a smile. "Look, I wanted you as much as you seemed to want me."
Dean shook his head. "I know that, I mean I have no delusions that I ever would or ever could force you into anything. But that's kind of my point. I used your feelings, your desire, your sympathy, I used them to try and..." he stopped and ran a hand through his hair.
"I wanted to hide all the dark things that are swimming around in my head every day, all the time since Sammy's been gone, I wanted to bury them in you. And that's awful."
"No." Julie said slowly, as though trying to explain something to a small child. "It's not awful, it's beautiful." Dean's expression turned completely disbelieving.
"Really." Julie reiterated. "I think it's amazing and wonderful if I can help you find even a few minutes of beauty or light, or whatever you find in me. Even if it's only for the span of a climax." She said, her cheeks getting pink. "I'll give you any amount of peace I can, any way I can give it."
She grinned cheekily. "If it just so happens to also make my eyes roll back in my head and have me screaming in ecstasy, well, even better."
Dean finally lost his frowning seriousness and a slight smile showed through.
Julie shook her head. "Is that why you were leaving?"
Dean shrugged. "It was half of it." He glanced at her. "Two birds with one stone, remember." He ran a hand down his face. "The other half was feeling incredibly guilty that Sam is still suffering while I'm...finding peace and light." He finished, with a tight smile.
Julie sighed. "I told you, you suffering doesn't help Sam in any way."
Dean nodded, "I know. I also know that if I go into another demon deal Sam would be so incredibly disappointed." He waved a hand at their position just beyond the gates. "Which is why I'm stopped here, completely at a loss as to my next step."
Julie decided on boldness and crawled into his lap and straddled his thighs. She placed a gentle kiss on his lips and pushed her hands through his incredibly soft hair trying to tame it.
"Your next step is to come back in the house, apologize to Bobby," she gave him a scowl at that, "and then get a few more hours of sleep. So that when we wake up we can start researching properly about how to get Sam out."
Dean seemed surprised. "You're not going to tell me that this was Sam's decision and he knew the consequences, and that it's too dangerous to try and get him out."
Julie shrugged. "All of those things are true, but if you don't care about them, I don't care about them. We will find a way to bring Sam home. I promise."
She leaned forward for another gentle kiss, but Dean grabbed both her cheeks in his hands and held her in place so he could lick up into her mouth and pull on her tongue with his lips, moaning softly into her mouth.
When he pulled back they were both breathing heavy, so harshly in fact that Julie almost missed Dean's next whispered words.
"God, I love you."
Julie sucked in a breath. "What?" she asked quietly, afraid he'd try to retract the statement.
But he just smiled softly. "So much, Jules. So much."
His next kiss was much more gentle, but also drawn out, turning into neck kisses and collarbone kisses before a thumping on the roof made them jump apart.
"I'm glad to see you two made up, but how about you pull yourselves away from each other's mouths and come back inside and tell me what the hell is goin' on."
With that Bobby wandered back toward the house and Dean smiled gently at Julie, slightly abashed.
"Do you think he knows we slept together in your childhood bedroom?"
Julie nodded. "Yeah, he definitely does - I kind of accidentally told him." She grimaced playfully. "Sorry!"
Dean shrugged and smiled. "Well, it's okay. He owes me a punch in the mouth anyway."

For the Fandom ask: Phineas and Ferb.
The first character I first fell in love with: Good question. It's been such a long time. If I had to guess, either Ferb or Isabella.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Writing Emperry made me finally become attached to Jeremy, so that was interesting. I never disliked him, but I never really thought about him at all until I had to write his pov. He's a good boy.
The character everyone else loves that I donāt: I wouldn't say I don't love him, but I'm a lot less attached to Doof than the rest of the fandom seems to be. It's nothing against him, I guess it's just because I watched it as a kid and became attached to the kid characters, and now that I'm older I'm just too nostalgic over the kids for that to change.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Is there a pnf character everyone hates? The characters are all so likeable! I know a lot of people have issues with Candace though, and I always loved her.
The character I used to love but donāt any longer: Uh. I quite obviously don't have a crush on Ferb anymore, so I guess that counts. He's still the Fave tho.
The character I would totally smooch: That one agent that works with Perry that one time, Lyla? Pretty.
The character Iād want to be like: I wish I had Isabella's drive!
The character Iād slap: "Slap" is kind of strong, but I'd have some words with Linda.
A pairing that I love: I mean....... Do I even had to say it?
A pairing that I despise: I feel like my dislike for Ferb/Vanessa is also pretty well known by this point. You can't just give me a ship that dance to my favorite freaking song in the show and then have them break up offscreen so Vanessa can date a boy she's known since he was 9.

The reason people call the Riverrun scene OOC aid because it is not in the books. It was made up by D&D, same as they made up whatever else. Cersei is not mentioned in Jaimeās Riverrun speech, and in fact when sheās next mentioned itās when Jaime is ignoring her pleas for help and leaving her to the mercy of the faith. They are hugely different scenes in books vs show, but if you havenāt read ASOIAF feel free to admit it rather than berate people who have.
LOL. They are hugely different scenes in the show and the book. So? In any case when I judge adaptations I judge them as stand alone entities not as "adaptations of my favorite books". It's fine if you don't and your overt attachment to the books prevents you from judging the show fairly. That's your problem tho. Despite the many changes I like the first 4 seasons of GoT because its objectively good television.
I stand by the fact that in essence that Riverrun scene in the show is in-keeping with book Jaime's character, because Jaime even in the books still cares about and loves Cersei. I really hate when good guy Jaime theorists want to chart a map of linear progress for Jaime starting from "kid killer" to "saving the world" or whatever. Like let me remind you he hasn't reflected with any true remorse on killing Bran. He burnt Cersei's letter because he's angry, upset, betrayed, and humiliated. That's what his POV makes clear, along with the fact that he does clearly still love her. It's a twisted, toxic, relationship and its not as simple as oh now his honor replaces his love for Cersei as his primary motivation. What both show and book Jaime have in common is that they love Cersei, and no matter how much they want to stop caring about her, they can't.
I can also acknowledge at the same time that overall show Jaime and Cersei are different characters than their book counterparts. Show Jaime is certainly more overtly Cersei-centric. and sometimes it works (the ending - I for one am extremely happy Jaime didn't strangle Cersei, I don't think we needed a THIRD woman dying via intimate partner violence but ymmv depending on how much you want to watch women being strangled on screen oops i mean how important the prophecy is to you) sometimes it doesn't (the entirety of season 5).
And here's some other facts to blow your mind, anon:
I don't give a fuck if you think I read the books or not. I dont worship these books and I don't think GRRM is perfection and as much as I hate the later seasons of the show, the books have their own set of problems and some of those were addressed and improved on the tv show. Feel free to tell on me to Linda and Elio or the reddit bros or whomever else you have in your book purity corner lol, i read these books for personal enjoyment, not to feel morally superior while sending hateful anon messages on the internet lol.
I will block you if you continue to engage me on this topic in bad faith. I enjoy a good discussion but I really don't give enough of a shit to get into it with bad faith arguers. I like what I like. If you don't agree with my opinions feel free to block me and never speak to me again. You had that option in the first place and I wish you'd taken it.
#Asoiaf#Me.txt#Asks#Answered#Anon#This person really took my one reblog on this topic and ran with it all the way to sending anon hate#What year is it?? 2021???#Thought we're all too collectively zomobified from the 10+ year TWOW wait to give a shit any more#Ah well

Webtoons are good for the soul PART II - ECLECTIC BOOGALOO
A continuation of this.
Sea Salt and Sand by neggut [ongoing]
In the autumn holidays 3 months ago, Brynn and Bailey shared a kiss. When Bailey left, Brynn tried to forget all about her and continue living an unremarkable life, only for Bailey to suddenly transfer to her school! What follows is a coming of age story full of pining, misunderstandings and confusion as Brynn and Bailey question the true nature of their relationship.Ā
Itās cute and a bit angsty but not too much. The art style often feels incomplete or rushed but in a good way, its flaws give character to the characters and the story. One of my all time favourites.
Apathy meets labrador/10
Dragonbourne by Gummy Shark [ongoing]
After a troubled past, Sir Ross Edmund Avery is somewhat content to lead a mundane existence, alone in his house. However, when he stumbles upon a child in the woods on Solstice Night who is anything but mundane, his simple life will be turned upside down.
A scar(r)ed man adopts a feral child, hijinks ensue. Once again, the art style is endearing, full of curves and long lines. Havenāt checked on that one in a while but the first twenty chapters were very promising.
Found family/10
The Last Human by Zack Jordan [ongoing]
She's the galaxy's worst nightmare: a Human. Fortunately, she's the last one. Now her adoptive (alien) mother is realizing that raising a young Human is no easy task.
Basically the badass and child duo trope but the truth may surprise you. Fun, cute, very wholesome, and surprisingly emotionnaly philosophical at times. Spidermom is best mom.
Recommend/10
Vampire Husband by Scragony [ongoing]
The life of Charles the Vampire an Cheryl the human after years of marriage.
What if tragic romance between human and vampire but they had their āhappy-ever-afterļæ½ļæ½? This is after. Itās funny and cute.
Relationship goals/10
Blood Stain by sigeel [ongoing]
A story about courage, growing up and finding friendships in most unlikely places... spiced with some MAD SCIENCE!Ā
Havenāt quite wrapped my head around this one yet, but itās fun and drawn by sigeel (a.k.a. Linda Sejic) so of course itās beautiful. Enjoyed it a lot, will have to keep reading.
Bloody merry/10
Punderworld by sigeel [ongoing - on hiatus]
Hades' and Persephone's love-struck misadventures.
Another take on Hades and Persephoneās love story. Once again, sigeel, so of course I love the art.
Bumbling idiots/10
The Queen and the Woodborn by Shiniez [ongoing]
Far away behind seven hills and seven forests, seven fields and seven rivers, there lived a Queen... welcome to the queen and the woodborn. a fairy tale romance for the mature readers about the unseen Queen and the Goddess in the woods. a tale of the two forgotten by the world around them who will make the world remember their names. expect gods and monsters and a romance for the ages.
Not many chapters yet but very long ones to compensate. This one is by Shiniez (a.k.a. Stjepan Sejic) so, once again, love the art. The story, the character designs and concepts, and the pace are all amazing.
Very wow/10
P.E.T.S. by Gyxks [ongoing]
Just when Tasha was about to start a new life, she was abducted by aliens. Fortunately, she and other humans were rescued by an interstellar general named Tourmaline. She soon discovered that her body was unfit to return home without endangering life on earth. Join her on her journey traversing this new world and these new feelings for an alien general.Ā
POV: Youāre living your best life as a young adult, at the shopping mall at 2am in your pyjamas, when suddenly death aliens rain pain all around and youāre abducted only to be saved by tall buff alien commander lady. Romance ensues. Maybe, itās slow burn but quite enjoyable to read.
Blush/10
Scoob and Shag by Misterie Krew [ongoing]
Scoob and his best pal Shag are up to their usual hi-jinks, but everything is not as it seems in their latest adventure.Ā
No relations to any character whatsoever. None. None at all. Also no relations to any kind of sense at all either. Canāt quite explain that one except that itās genius. Just read it.
Is that a gun?/10
Bewitched by peachyytown [ongoing]
The witch who keeps "kidnapping" the princess is actually her girlfriend and they're just going on dates.
Short but cute alternative take on all that witch/monster/princess shenanigans. In the same vein as Our days in Lumain. Also the art is very nice.
Meetcute/10
When the Pink Trees Bear Fruit by neggut [completed]
A sweet love blooms between two women on an orchard in 1973.
A short story, five chapters only, but play devastatingly well with oneās heart. In the same vein as It Stems From Love by Soya S. Holm. neggut ist sehr gut.
Tears/10
Rooftops & Roommates by Zaanart [ongoing]
Jeb is an architecture major at university, rooming with his best friend Todd. There's just one problem... Jebās secretly a gargoyle! Between studying, partying, and a bad ghost problem, will Jeb be able to keep his true identity a secret?
Jeb is sweet, Jeb is fresh, but Jeb is decidedly not very good at keeping a secret. Itās funny, slice-of-life, roommate college shenanigans at its finest. With a magical twist.
Ship/10
Everything is Fine by Mike Birchall [ongoing]
Sam and Maggie are a normal couple, in a normal house, in a normal neighborhood. There is nothing strange about their heads, their neighbors or their sweet little dog. Everything is Fine.
I havenāt actually started this one yet, but the premise is very very very interesting. Perhaps not for thos who are faint of heart? Deceptively cute. Or is it?
Itās fine/10
Castle Swimmer by Wendy Lian Martin [ongoing]
What happens when your entire life is ruled by a prophecy ā your future foretold by people youāve never met, who died long before you were born. Ā Such is the story of two young sea creatures. Ā One believed to be a guiding light for his people, a Beacon who will lead them to a bright, prosperous future. Ā The other is a teenage prince for whoās destiny is to KILL the Beacon so that HIS own people might thrive. Ā When both reject the course set for them, it leads to a raucous adventure as big and unpredictable as the ocean itself ā and a romance that nobody could have predicted.
Itās fish. Itās gay. Itās under da sea and ya gotta kiss the boy. I havenāt read it all yet but enough to vouch for it and to have some vested interest in the universe and its lore.
Enemies to lovers/10
Demon Highschool by Kiiyoko [ongoing]
After a compromise it was agreed that criminals would attend a "demons highschool" where they would work as slaves for demons And while it was all in good favor, things take a very dark and twisted turn at said, highschool.
Thereās something, some kind of twist, about the MC which I havenāt gotten to yet, and which I am very interested to discover. Iām not quite sure how I feel about this one as of now, mostly curious Iād say.
Pet/10
Hooky by Miriam Bonastre Tur [completed]
Dani and Dorian have missed the bus of the school of magic. Now, they must find someone who teach them how to be a great and good witches... Or maybe not.āĀ
This one is a strange one about witchery and family. Surprisingly deep and serious at times, very enjoyable. Unfinished on Webtoon but a good start to get into the story.
Siblings/10
Loving Reaper by Jenny Jinya [ongoing]
Animals struggle. Pets and Wildlife alike. The reaper cares for their stories and helps them with the crossover. Short stories about the "Loving Reaper" to raise awareness and collect funds. Breaking hearts for a good cause.
Beautiful bittersweet stories about animals, pets, life and death and love.
Tissues/10
Batman: Wayne Family Adventures by StarBite, CRC Payne, Kielamel Siba, Lan Ma, C.M. Cameron, and Camille Cruz [ongoing]
Batman needs a break. But with new vigilante Duke Thomas moving into Wayne Manor and an endless supply of adopted, fostered, and biological superhero children to manage, Bruce Wayne is going to have his hands full. Being a father can't be harder than being Batman, right?Ā
What if Bat-family but happy? Official comic, barely started, very fun.
Wholesome/10
The First Night With the Duke by MSG, Taeva, from an original work by Hwang DoTol [ongoing]
A handsome, selfish noble falls for a beautiful, kind commoner -- at least, thatās how the storyās supposed to go. When an average college student wakes up as Ripley, an extra in her favorite romance novel, she resolves to enjoy the luxuries of her characterās status while watching the novel's plot unfold from the sidelines. However, her plans are soon derailed when she finds herself in bed with no other than Duke Zeronis, the novelās hero! Dodging the villainessā schemes, the Dukeās advances, and her own feelings, can Ripley keep the story on track and survive beyond the first night?Ā
Havenāt read that one but a very dear (and respectable) friend (*cough*Ā @berigoloteāĀ *cough*) of mine keeps pestering me to give it a try. So here it is, try it.

In My Heart by Redfield42 [ongong]
Sasaki Mari is a typical delinquent troublemaker whose only goal is to get a boyfriend, but due to her reputation as bully and low grades, all the boys reject her. Then she decides to change her style, and asks for help from the student with the best grades in the class.
It starts off light and fund and progressively seems to delve a little bit more into the seriousness of life. Not a tragedy, however, and very much worth a read still.
I think I have a trope I like/10

Along the lines of Not So Shoujo Love Story, In My Heart, and Susuhara is a Demon. Delinquent/Good Student meetcute, romantinc hijincks ensue.
Seduction/10
RAINBOW! by Rue & Sunny Gloom [ongoing]
This is the story of a girl named Boo. She has pink hair and a vivid imagination and she is about to discover a side of herself that she never considered before.Ā
Okay, so yes, this one is also also a delinquent meets cute nice girl, but - BUT! - thereās an element of story telling that I love about it: the way we see Booās anxiety incorporated visually into the story. Just for that it is one of my favourite recent discoveries!

i've seen people say we should only count cynthia, jane, pattie, and maureen as the beatle girls and not linda, yoko, olivia, barbara, and nancy because they weren't the beatles anymore when they got with their later partners (uh, john/yoko and paul/linda happened when they were still a band). i guess that means julian, zak, jason, and mary are the only beatle kids.
thatās weird that people wouldnāt consider linda and yoko beatles girls they werenāt there during the beginning but they still met them while they were beatles
Iām not really sure how I feel about that in general tho, I know Olivia doesnāt consider herself a beatles wife and doesnāt really know how to answer when people ask her beatles questions because she wasnāt there lol so I get that pov. I still consider them beatles girls because I think theyāll always be beatles in some way they arenāt limited to that of course they moved onto different things but thatās what theyāre most known for. And Itās also easier to just call them beatles girls like I wouldnāt want my blog to be āwiththebeatlesgirlsandoliviabarbaraandnancyā lol so thatās my reason

send me a š and iāll post a snippet of art/writing that i never got around to finishing this year (r.i.p)
okay so hereās the tea on all the things that didnāt get finished in 2019!
2019 was the year of abandoning short stories lol oops! Hereās the hit list: :ā(
1. Growing Season
This is such a hard hit because who doesnāt want to read a story about a woman replacing her boyfriend with a cactus, narrated BY the cactus?? Iād love to revisit this story because a) itās told in my fave POV (first person directed toĀ āyouā) and b)Ā āyouā is an apathetic college dropout who goes for the hard dRAG after a bad breakup with her boyfriend, and c) because a cactus NARRATES it.
Iām at a little over 800 words in this story (it def gives me Sea Life by Eliza Robertson vibes).
2. Phantom Limbs in D Minor
Biggest hit! Iāve been working on this story since March, made good progress in the beginning, and slowly began drifting from it. Iāve chipped away at it sporadically over the last few months, and Iāve made it my goal to finish it over break! I donāt see myself hitting this goal, but I do hope to actually finish this story because I feel like it contains some of the best prose Iāve written and I love the vibe! Iām at over 2k words with a scene of about 1k floating around. Iāve actually toyed with making this story a novel because the scope seems quite large, but I definitely want to finish the short story before I think about that more! We follow chaotic Linda as she stress renovates her childhood home (a past! commune!) after her motherās death. Linda is so precious to me, and Iād love to give her a story! If New York by Ex:Re was a person, it would be Linda lol.Ā
3. Anatomy of a Swinging Door
Iām making a statement, and my statement is that this is my designated cult story which means it must happen in the future. This was originally myĀ ātest out first person retrospectiveā story, though I think the point of view isnāt working super well here, but weāll see! I conveniently wrote a logline for this story when I was trying to narrow down the scope, so here you go:Ā A young woman visits her childhood home on the one-year anniversary of her brotherās disappearance and meets the new (and strange) family who lives there.Ā
(cult!)
So the second round of tragedies goes toward novels, AKA Houses With Teeth (which I can share excerpts from!).Ā
4. Houses With Teeth
I really struggled with this book this year, because it came to be in a time where my writing was getting an overhaul (though I didnāt realize it at the time)! Iāve learned a lot about intention in writing over the last year, something the Fostered series has lacked (oops). This led to me being very unsure about where I wanted to go with this book in particular--the same route as all the others (weird contemporary with dystopian elements that havenāt fully gone away yet) orrrr plan out something a bit more literary! Iāve fought with myself over this since April, and still donāt know where Iām going, but Iām missing my chaotic diva narrator Reeve and would love to get back into her head!Ā
This book has gone through about 3 openings, and I havenāt fully landed on any yet. Iām rethinking how I want to start this book, but taking my time with Moth Work to work me up to the timeline in HWT (which takes place about 8 months after the end of Rewired). I think Iāve shared most of this!
Some excerpts of first person retrospective Reeve (AKA Rachel trying to be Emma Cline looool):
Though the church was only a fifteen minute walk from the apartment, I packed a picnic basket of cha siu bao and a bottle of red wine and wore heels so they would know I wasnāt Christian. The basket wasnāt mine and neither were the baoāthese were both things Iād taken from Liu. This wasnāt the first time Iād stolen from her. Iād once taken her fifty-dollar jar of saffron from the pantry because Iād heard it was the most expensive spice and wanted to feel rich. I took her jade Buddha necklace because sheād left it in the back and I wanted to feel cultured in her city, I wanted to become her history. The saffron jar was replaced. She didnāt comment when I wore the necklace at my next shift. This was why Liu and I worked well together. She pitied me so would never fire me, even when I skipped shifts and cussed at the customers. I felt entitled to her things because she was kind to me. I felt entitled to her kindness.Ā
lol I havenāt read this in months and it made me laugh #valid:
I crossed the street before the streetlight changed because this is how I lived in New York City. The world was unfair and lightless and I was an atheist who believed in God, walking in five inch heels on a busted road in the ghetto so I could get enough holy water to drown the ghost out of my apartment.Ā
When all else fails, add a dash of mother:
The air that summer was always the same: dense and wet, even on the good days. It clung to my arms and threatened to erode the skin there, even when it wasnāt sunny. I remembered my motherās insistence of sunscreen when I was a child; before the pool, in the pool, out of the pool, when we werenāt even at the pool. Her hands were always cold and the sunscreen was always liquidāIzzy was never good at temperature or putting things in the right places. Sheād put the instant coffee in the fridge and the cream on the counter. Sheād cook the eggs too long and the ice too little. My father would criticize her as a joke and sheād threaten a divorce. This was the only thing I knew was true about my mother. Sunscreen was expensive, so I never bought it.Ā
Reeve bringing out the drag:
āGrab me a pack of cigarettes?ā I shifted the picnic basket so it rested in the crook of my elbow.
āID?ā
āYou donāt need my ID.ā
āI ID every customer. Youāre nothing special, baby.ā
The manās mustache wilted in the tungsten light of the variety store, spindly like loose threads. My father had grown a mustache like that once, and it took only two nights before my mother cut it off in his sleep. Izzy was brash like that, and I wanted that too; to find a pair of scissors in one of the aisles and chip at that flaccid mustache. There was nothing special about this man, either. All men in New York City tried to look like that; facial hair like coiled up leeches, a gut they pretended wasnāt a gut, but the fault of an unflattering polo from their wives. I imagined the snip of the kitchen scissors on my fatherās upper lip, the same snip I heard the next day when he clipped the evergreens lining the walkup. There was something coarse about how similar it all wasāpruning trees, grooming facial hair. I had turned twenty that springāit wouldāve taken only a minute for him to pass me a pack, but this was too easy. I wasnāt biological in New York City; I shouldnāt have been.Ā
5. Fostered But Itās Magic
So this was never meant to be a full project, though I had hoped to write a bit of it just for fun and never got around to it! FBIM (obvi working title lol) is exactly what it sounds like: the Fostered series but with a magical twist! I donāt write very much genre fiction, nor have I ever written fantasy, but a few months ago, felt drawn to the idea of putting Fostered in a magical world (my comp titles are SHREK 4 meets HOWLāS MOVING CASTLE).Ā
I donāt have any of this written, but I do have a few notes which I can share!Ā
I didnāt realize Iād made a tag yourself writing these notes but (Iām Lonan):
Reeve is a magical con artist who runs her own business selling bootleg magic.Ā
Lonan is absent and part bird
Harrison *believes* he is #magic free but has been recently getting hot flashes during nightmares.
Foster has an in-home herbalism business where he helps mostly the elderly and children. He has a cart that he wheels monthly into town. Kind of a failing business.
The gist is that Harrison (who weād be following) canāt sleep due to hot flashes and nightmares of his ex (@ Lonan) and is referred to a small business run by a clairvoyant who promises to make all psychological problems disappearārelationship issues, sleep issues, life issues. This clairvoyant is actually Reeve who is telikinetic of some sorts, and doesnāt actually provide magic, but manipulates (usually weak) brains, AKA tricks people into paying her large sums of money when she gives them no magical help in return. We ALSO have aĀ āpastā plotline, and this is the very loose logline Iād written down (tho if I ever write any of this, is subject to change):
After being tormented by nightmares of his ex lover resulting in violent hot flashes and an inability to keep up employment, Harrison seeks a magical intervention. When the clairvoyant he hopes will cure his strange ailment turns out to be a con womanāand his old friendāhe is thrown back into the past and forced to rekindle relationships he thought heād left behind. Ā
Some dialogue I wrote down ft. clairvoyant Reeve being Reeve:
H: Why are you doing this?Ā
R (reapplying lip colour): Is my lipstick distracting you? The colour is dazzling.
H: Itās bullshit.Ā
R (abruptly stops drawing on lip colour): The lipstick?Ā
H: Your work.
My fave interaction tho has to be this bit Iād noted down with pure Foster comforting Harrison after a nightmare:
Foster *reading on couch when Harrison wakes up in #panique*: What happened? Harrison? Do you need some eucalyptus?Ā
*do u need some eucalyptus*
Thatās basically all the writing related things I didnāt finish in 2019! Iād love to explore them all in 2020 though! Thanks for asking. :)

top 5 ee episodes & why?
fuck man iāve been watching eastenders since i was a kid and thereās been soooo many iconic episodes and i cannot possibly remember them all so if youāre expecting a proper in depth answer to this iām about to disappoint u but here it goes
in no particular order:
peggyās suicide - literally peggy was and still is one of the biggest icons on not only on ee but on british tv in general and if it were possible i would have her running the vic until the end of time but unfortunately itās not. like i wasnāt even watching ee when this ep aired but i watched it bc the fact that barbara windsor was coming back to reprise her roll as peggy and that peggy was going to die was genuine News in the uk and everyone and their mother tuned in to see peggyās farewell and the fact that it was so well handled and her walking through the square reminiscing and that scene where she was in the vic and talking to mick and linda and the fact that they had pat come back to be there with her just like the entire thing was so so sad but poignant and yeah :-( i miss her :-(
hunter holding the vic at gun point - ok like obvious reasons aside the whole seige episode was so GOOD like i was so tense the entire time which is a hard thing to do!!! like i still canāt quite believe that ep was only half an hour it felt so much longer than that and yes iām a lil biased bc ben is my fave and watching him slowly bleed to death was like hell (even tho i knew he lived) but i think even ppl who didnāt like ben Felt It. and there were just so many layers like you had the ben and callum stuff which overlapped into the callum and whitney stuff and then ofc the ben and louise and then ben and phil stuff when he come in and sonia trying to keep him alive and the hunter and mel stuff which was GOOD even tho idrc abt hunter lmao but the hunter/louise/bex stuff, the louise and lisa stuff and then those final few scenes where sonia managed to get ben breathing and then hunter shot keanu and then the police shooting hunter and sharon calling mel so she didnāt have to see and then that finalĀ āmummyās got youā sceneā¦ā¦ā¦ academy award
bradleyās death - THIS SHIT TRAUMATIZED ME OK i loved bradley sm and i was so upset when him and stacey broke up (even tho i get it now as an adult) and then u have him falling off the fucking vic roof calling out staceyās nameā¦ā¦.. the whole thing was just so intense in a way u donāt really see in anymore like the drama didnāt come from the fact that it was made dramatic by the script or the acting or the music or anything like that it was dramatic bc it was fucking horrifying between all the screaming and shouting and everyoneās reactions and just yhā¦ they dont make em like that no more!!!
janine killing barry - i donāt have a reason for this other than the fact that barry rolling down that hill sticks so fucking vividly in my mind for some reason which is twice as weird bc i must have been so young when i saw it but the fact that i remember it must mean it was Iconic and thatās reason enough for meā¦ā¦.. plus janine is just That Bitch tbh i want her back
this yearās pride - perhaps a little basic of me but i canāt think of any other (personally) iconic episodes rn (all i can think of is characters/storylines lmao) but! it was a fucking good ep and i saw it right as i got back into ee again and i think the different povs and experiences and the characters being at different points in their sexuality journey was so Important like between bernie experiencing her first pride (as a teen!) with all of her family supporting her and going with her and her having a good time and having her Moment and then lesbian elder tina talking abt her experiences and her first pride and guiding and encouraging bernie and then the contrast of that vs everything that callum was dealing with and going through and him (as someone who is approaching their 30s) still being in the closet and the absolute heartbreak of seeing him be SO upset because heās physically there at pride but heās so far away from everyone around him and their joy and freedom like he was so horribly isolated from everyone except ben and the one person he did reach out to by admitting he slept with ben he thought got it and supported him only for stuart to turn around and batter ben and i know ppl werenāt happy w that and people didnāt like it and thought it was unnecessary and inappropriate and i 100% get why but i also get why they did it bc it was a such a shock and a strike contrast to what was going on outside and was meant to drive home that yeah pride is nice and all but this is whatās still happening u know so while it was horrible i think it was deliberately that way but thatās just my opinion. plus it was just nice to have a pride-dedicated ep and have all different ppl there representing like imo they did a pretty good job with it actually lookin like a pride event so. yh lmao.
there are probably soooooo many iām overlooking but these are the first ones that came to mind and iām a big believer in following ur gut so! yeah!

Lucifer!AU idea: the concept of Sensates/homo sensorium going on in Sense8 but itās the Lucifer human characters. All the stuff in the Lucifer universe (Heaven, Hell and the rest) still stands BUT thereās also the psychic connection thingie some humans can have. Just for funsies. So Chloe, Dan, Charlotte, Linda, Ella... and Pierce (just to keep things interesting lmao) are part of the same cluster... (under read because I wrote a lot lmao)
.... Iām proposing Pierce as a very āwhat the fuckā member because of his actual age, like he was born thousands of years before any of them and shouldn't be part of the same cluster... but he died and then came back to life at the exact same time the Chloe&co. cluster members were born once, so funky connection was created (maybe part of the curse? extra punishment every time he tries finding a way out of it and dying permanently, heās reborn with the ability to be part of a new cluster thatās also born in that same moment, it just hasnāt happened again since the Chloe one so theyāre latent connection was there and then it also gets activated and the not so fun times for everyone begin. For him especially, extra people to get close to that then die uh oh). Might not make too much sense coming from a Sense8 pov... but Iām just gonna say āGodly shenanigansā and leave it at that lmao.
I just like fucking up canon a lot. Like, Pierce comes to LA ready to die and instead āoh no oh fuck not again hhhhhhā (because he's been part of at least a couple of other clusters and maybe even gave birth to at least one idk, he doesnāt like it) and heās the only one that knows whatās going on while everyone else is absolutely freaking the fuck out. And they all discover exactly who is pretty soon (even before Lucifer does probs). Also his death pact with Lucifer is a little more difficult because the others feel when he dies and Lucifer isnāt about to do that to them for funsies, so his attempts are a little more somber from the start. They probs have like a group discussion about it (with a confused Lucifer and only Pierce actually physically present, it's weird for everyone) cause he wouldnāt agree to try kill him in the first place knowing itās something everyone else could feel (especially Chloe). But they do agree on at least a couple of tries cause what if Lucifer can actually do it? I havenāt decided yet whoās the cluster parent tho or how it happens. Or how much to actually fuck up the timeline. Like... it all starts before Chloe even meets Lucifer (this would change the most things lol)? Right after? Season 3 when Pierce shows up? Man just, the potential of everyone discovering Pierce is the literal Cain from the Bible before they fully believe Lucifer is the actual Devil lmao, Lucifer would be so offended (āIāve been telling you for ages!!ā). The Goddess!Charlotte thing could also turn even more complicated like this holy shit.
They also probably meet other Sensates at some point who are absolutely bewildered but the fact that the members of their cluster literally live inches from each other. Like, 1) what are the chances and 2) talk about tight knit?? A cluster with basically everyone working in such close proximity is plain :O. Obviously God is involved in that tho, lol. Maybe some plan to like, bring a little change in how Heaven and Hell work (and theyāre all needed) or stop an apocalypse idk. And I also want the Decoy Sinnerman to have a bigger more nefarious role. Like dude was so ominuos and had such an anticlimatic end. I want him to have somehow not only gone rogue but also double crossed Pierce.... hell, maybe by knowing Pierce he's gotten involved in some divine shenanigans he needs Pierce and his Mark and Chloe and her Miracle status for. Just all the fucking weird drama babey! They think the literal First Murderer is the baddest bitch around and their main problem but nope, thereās something worse waiting for him AND them.
Also there's Linda trying really hard to keep Luciferās sessions separate from the cluster because they all know him and oooohh boy isnāt that fun. And pregnant Linda having shitty days and Chloe and Charlotte help her from afar because been there done that weāve got your back (also Charlieās birth isnāt fun for any of them but at least Linda has a lot of support). And also to flip canon even more, life or death situation for Charlotte whoās separated from the others and Pierce is the first one to show up and lends his expertise to save her. And a scene like Pierce helping Chloe defuse the bomb only instead of via phone heās doing it for her and everyone else is standing around freaking out for her. And literally everyone knowing not only the Cain thing but that heās technically the original Sinnerman BUT his pupil (also-sorta-friend-son-figure) went full Murderer and snatched all his connections under his nose. Like they know that and show up at work and heās just sitting There. They all probably have some sort of truce for that. They canāt arrest him, they canāt kill him and also he could help bring down the decoy Sinnerman whoās totally out of control so uh, guess theyāre keeping him?? After they deal with the fake Sinnerman they also still canāt do much about it cause heās just There and Unkillable/Un-incarcerable and heās likeĀ āIām staying right here being a nuisance for you all until I can fucking Dieā, they just canāt get rid of him. But they probs make his criminal life literal Hell. Heās insufferable and Lucifer is constantly worried heās gonna put everyone in harmās way...... But then he probably ends up losing his Mark/potentially dying via doing something risky to protect his cluster, because they grew on him. The assholes. Before them he kept as much distance as he could from other cluster members and people in generalĀ because Pain. But missed out on helping them out on a lot of occasions that way. And between all the shit that starts when he shows up in LA he ends up caring (in his own way) for their fates (very very slowly). And he does something selfless and Godās like FINALLY, YOU BITCH. 6000 years and you finally did it.
... Orrr maybe not Lucifer universe at all? Havenāt thought much about the timelines or anything, just thought it was a funny concept. Like.. You could also go the completely AU way without any Divinity stuff and add human Lucifer and Maze in the cluster mix or something? Instead of the concept of Sensates dropped into the Lucifer universe with all its (un)holy shenanigans it could be the Lucifer characters who are made humans and plopped into the Sense8 universe?
#Lucifer#Talking Tag#Luciblogging#I LIKE WEIRD NONSENSICAL AUS OK#I can't help myself#Long post#Lucifer Maze and Amenadiel are all 'what the actual FUCK' about it all#like they know about the whole sensates thing#but this particular cluster#just WHAT

what are you reading right now?
oh this ask is so well-timed because iām reading three things right now!Ā
the main thing iām spending the most time reading is the super-depressingĀ who cooked the last supper? the womenās history of the worldĀ by rosalind miles. itās maybe the most valuable book iāve read in a while just because it contains a ton of womenās world history that i would never have known. it starts by talking about how women in the prehistoric era did most of the labor that contributed toĀ the speciesā survival (both in the immediate moment and in terms of, for instance, promoting brain development). then it discusses how violent misogyny evolved after the discovery that men, not just women, also contributed to the process of reproduction. the source list is just mind-blowing and she has heartbreaking examples from tons of eras and places all around the world. but itās also really witty; her jokes make the difficult stuff palatable. iāve had to balance it with reading other things so i donāt get overwhelmed by despair tho.
iāve also been readingĀ body respectĀ by linda bacon and lucy aphramor. i recently became interested in the Health at Every Size movement and this book is one of the core books that unpacks the reasoning behind it. thereās some good stuff, like evidence against common medical myths even i thought were true, but itās not very well-written, and the HUGE chapter on nutrition science/intuitive eating in the middle of the book is sort of delaying my reading any further right now because iām not really interested in nutrition science in the slightest??
and over the weekend i started the atla tie-in novelĀ the rise of kyoshiĀ by f.c. yee. i canāt tell whether or not i like it yet? kyoshi is written in a really surprising and intriguing way but thereās like. too much Man in it. lots of male characters get a lot of POV time and thereās definitely some heavy-handed feminism so the fact that the author is a man is really hard to ignore. (for instance it begins with the reveal that kyoshi was not originally identified as the avatar because they thought it was a man! a cocky and charming man who could only bend one element! was somehow considered to be the avatar! on the one hand, a unique twist, but on the other hand, very heavy-handed.)
oh and iāll also mention that i just quickly readĀ mundo cruelĀ by luis negron and i liked it! itās a super-short short story collection (90 pages) originally translated from spanish. all the stories are little vignettes set in a puerto rican town mostly made up of gay men. iāll be talking about it in book club tomorrow and may have some hotter takes about it then, but yeah, enjoyed it a lot.Ā

RE: Jesus in Lucifer. I like your two cents! It's been driving me crazy all day trying to figure out how Jesus would fit into the narrative if he's real too. I like the take that Lucifer doesn't have a beef, maybe he was too alienated from his fam by that point to care or Jesus seemed fine to him. But then I wonder about sibling rivalry, or Luci's thoughts on the unjust crucifixion or his dad getting killed on earth if the holy trinity is a thing. Sincerely, a gay agnostic/evangelical Lucifan~
i mean, to me i've always seen lucifer as a really pretty christian show. it kinda just... flat out ignores all others, or disputes them (like linda saying reincarnation was "a nice idea.") that's a bigger convo tho.
priests, churches, nuns, hail mary's, CROSSES are all part of christianity. so, the idea that jesus doesn't exist in the dctv universe never was smth i considered (not in a shady way!!) for example, i think ella is probably catholic. she has a cross around her neck.
also, in a few interviews they do mention (in passing) lucifer being a christian show. what that means, i guess is a bigger convo.
i do think from a writing pov jesus is kept out of it by name bc that would MAYBE be pushing it too much when they were always on thin ice. but in universe i always assume luci and jesus were like... fine. he doesn't seem to be TOO against going to church with ella, for example. there'a no anger and when he's mad you know abt it. the show, of course, isn't the bible. it's based on a neil gaiman comic. so you can bend it however you want until jesus is brought up, but i don't think they will. but i adhere to the unjust crucification view, and multiple ppl cross themselves in the show. but at the end of the day MY pov is that the point of the show is for god and lucifer to make peace. and the message of the show is that if god loves lucifer and forgives him, the same can be true for (almost) anyone.
but ofc pov is objective.
- bi catholic/agnostic kid š

Right , so , this thing needs a disclaimer warning: I wrote this over an all-nighter fueled by coffee and alcohol, and so there are many , many plot holes that don't make any sense. If anyone ever actually sees it, feel free to shout at me about how it's shit.
Anyway, here's a short film script I wrote about two disabled lesbians , helping each other be happy at a house party. I am not mute, deaf , or a lesbian, so I am intensely sorry if this offends anyone.
I do have a basic plot for an entire film of this thing, as well as internal monologue scripts for both Jane and Lilly in this, but I won't post those atm, because they're a bit sh*t - if anybody wants them, ask me and I'll post them then
Other Means
Characters
Lilly- mute, from birth. Knows sign language, and goes to a college out of town. Know the host because theyāre online friends. Is mature and confident. Has had experiences with women. Eleanor from the good place, or Ramona from Scott pilgrim or Linda from blood brothers(theatre show- not a film surprisingly). Forward, strong, funny, and not afraid to speak her mind. However, she is also kind, and sympathetic which should be a key part of her character- sheās struggled , and now doesnāt want other people to struggle.
Jane - deaf, newly, due to a scuba diving accident. Doesnāt know much sign language, and still goes to the same college. Isnāt comfortable talking, because sheās still learning to control her volume, because now she canāt hear her own voice. Knows the host from that college, before she was deaf. Syd from I Am Not okay With This, or Vanya from Umbrella Academy. Still confident, and tries her hardest, but is still struggling due to new pressures.
Setting:
A house party- hosted by Sam, friend of both, asexual. Is not a dick. He shows up to introduce them. 15 people or less, wonāt see more than a few at a time.
Open, black screen . ā southern nights ā by Glen Campbell plays, as the picture fades in. We see Lilly standing behind a conversation, with a sign hung around her neck saying āphysically canāt talk. Mute since birth. Iād love to chat though!ā she has a drink in her hand, and is slumping/leaning against a wall.
Cut to a POV shot of Jane , trying to conversate with a notepad, but struggling
Cut to a shot of Lilly , signing to Sam ,āwhatās her name?ā
Sam, obviously intrigued: thatās my friend Jane. She lost her hearing recently, so sheās still trying to acclimate. Why?
Lilly signs, ānothingā.
Cut to a symmetrical shot of Lilly and Jane, with Lilly on the left and jane on the right. Lilly signs at Jane, but Jane makes it clear that she canāt understand her. Writes on her notepad
Notepad: donāt speak BSL yet sorry. Iām Jane, whatās your name?
She visibly passes the notepad to Lilly
Notepad: Hi Jane, Iām Lilly.
Points to sign hung round neck
Notepad: you seemed a little out of your depth, so I just wanted to give a helping hand.
Hands the notepad back to Jane, who looks visibly touched by Lillyās kindness.
Notepad: thank you! Thatās so kind! I am sorry I canāt do BSL tho, it seems like it would be easier for you
Jane goes to give Lilly the notepad back, but then Lilly pulls a notepad of her own out of a pocket/bag, doing that thing you do when you reveal something, raising it and showing it off.
*from now speech is on notepads, except from when specified otherwise*
Lilly: itās fine , weāll just have to communicate through other meansā
title card, somehow incorporating notepads, the lesbian flag, Keanu reeves, super mario, and those hear-no-evil, speak-no-evil monkeys.
Open back on Jane and Lilly playing Mario Kart. Itās a shot from the tvās POV, so we can see their faces and the glow of the TV, but not what theyāre playing. Jane is inexperienced at this, and it should be showing- sheās grunting, and mumbling, and cursing but quite loudly. Lilly on the other hand, is very calm and quite good at the game. However, after something particularly funny that Jane mumbles loudly, Lilly throws down her controller and starts to laugh silently. Understandably, Jane is quite confused
Jane: whatās wrong? Are you alright?
Lilly sits up, reads note, breaks into more silent laughter. Composes herself quickly once she seeās Janeās concerned face
Lilly: no, Iām fine- worry about yourself! You were making noises like a drunk hamster!
Cut to an over Lillyās shoulder shot , Jane reads this note, and then looks embarrassed, and looks around to see if everyoneās staring at her. Lilly perceives this mood, writes
Lilly: donāt worry, no one cares anymore- theyāre all sloshed enough to not
She gestures to the tv
Lilly: another game?
Cut back to symmetrical. They tense back into playing positions. If I can, I want to transition here like a Scott Pilgrim one, with someone walking in front of the camera, then swiping the scene to a different scene. Lilly and Jane are on the same couch, but are now much more relaxed.
Lilly: ok , shag marry killā¦ me, Sam , Keanu Reeves.
Jane: f*ck off, Iām not answering that
Lily: come on!
Jane: alright thenā¦. Iād marry you, shag Sam, and kill Keanu reeves
Lily: (draws a big shocked face) how dare you kill Keanu Reeves! The man is a gift to the world!
Jane, now quite drunk: exactly why Iām sure he would die so that the two of you could live- Iād rather not have two of my friends die, and honestly, Iād look forward to shagging Sam, have you seen that manās shoe size
Lilly rolls her eyes, while Jane stares dreamily off towards a sam in the distance, as if a 1920ās flapper for the briefest of moments
Lilly: alright, two truths and a lie now, k?
Jane motions for her to carry on
Lilly: alright, here they are: I am bisexual, I have had a run in with the new York mob, and 50% of this party thinks youāre cute.
Jane looks confused for a moment, perhaps raising an eyebrow,
Jane: I can definitely picture you as the sort of person to incur a mobsterās wrath, and I have always had a decent gaydar, but there is no way that half of the people here think Iām cute- thatās the lie!
Lilly shakes her head, while making an exaggerated thing like sheās tutting.
Lilly: you werenāt wrong about that gaydar, but Iām afraid you pegged me as a little too open- the fairer sex is where itās at girl!
Jane: really? 50%?
Lilly does the wobbly hand thing, to signify āroughlyā
Lilly,: from what Iāve picked up on at the drinks tables, and my own personal opinion, yeah.
Jane is confused with this statement, motioning between her and Lilly ,and mouthing ācute?ā
Lilly: yes, youāre cute- itās your turn though.
Jane blushes, thinks for a moment, then gets to scribbling.
Jane: alright-I once discovered a genuine David bowie signature on an old Ā£10 note, Iām bisexual, and I play in played in a synthpop band.
Jane should start staring sadly into the middle distance at this point, tearing up if possible. Lilly shouldnāt notice, because sheās pondering and scribbling.
Lilly: I know that the David Bowie one is false, because that is a felony in the UK! She looks up and notices that Jane is looking down. She reaches out to hold Janeās shoulder.
c/u of Janeās sad face, nearly crying .Music switches now, from black parade to some Kanye west.
Jane: is there music playing?
Lilly nods
Jane: what song?
Lilly shrugs
Lilly: some rap shite. Not my style.
Jane continues to break down over no music, while Lilly rummages in her pockets. Suddenly, (in c/u) Lilly grabs Janeās hand, opens her palm, and places an in ear headphone in it.
Lilly: heard about this from a deaf buddy of mine. Should do you right.
Then from silence, we hear the first few chords of āspace oddityā fade in. Janeās face lights up , and she looks up to Lilly.
Low angled shot from Janeās perspective, of Lilly reaching down to her, in the traditional āshall we danceā way. Jane gets up, and they dance simply for a bit, before Jane pulls Lilly in for a deep hug, and we get the clichĆ©, heads over the shoulders shot.
We then cut to them on the pavement in front of the house. They are leaning on each other as they stroll. Careless whisper is playing softly in the background, like itās emanating loudly from the house.
We see Jane reach into a side pocket, and pull out the same notepad as before.
Jane: soā¦ do you wanna go for coffee sometime?
Lilly reads this with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.
Lilly: so, a date then. Are you sure? Iām quite high maintenance .
She points to the sign , still hung around her neck. c/u of Jane leaning in, to whisper something into Lillyās ear.
Jane, speaking softly: yes Iām sure, silly
Cut to a shot of them separating, and then walking away from the camera, backs to the audience, holding hands. If we need to, roll credits over this with soft music- it must be love by madness- specifically the line " how can it be that we can say so much without words"

WicDiv thoughts - the special
Okay, off we go! As usual, lengthy spoilers under the cut
first, Inannaās eyeliner is such a Look, thank you very much Kris Anka, I owe you my life.
To be fair, Ive never been with any girl, but the way Baal saysĀ āIāve never been with a boy beforeā still had a lot of raw, relatable energy. or maybe its just me, still wrestling to come to terms with my orientationĀ ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
wow, thanks for the heads up. i am one of the people who listened to the creators and didnt read the issue in public. anyway it was good and With Feelings, why are these two such cute saps (also lmao @ inanna for arriving at the roof without pants already, it was kind of hilarious)
its interesting how in two stories lucifer is presented in a really unsympathetic way. especially contrasted to the faust act, which had Lauraās pov, so the perception of the characters was influenced by her (and this perception satys so in the Laurifer story, even tho the art style influences it, even when the colours imitate faust act a lot). Also the fire alarm scene along with the cartoonish expressions make this story.
It must be really hard to guess which story Iād like the most, right? Come on, the art style and colors are perfect and the characters look so good in it!Ā
Also, as @ozcobblehotā noticed, the name Umar brings some unintended conotations to me, because if you sayĀ āumarÅā (polish forĀ ā(he) diedā) quickly, it souds likeĀ āumarā and itās sometimes written like that, colloquially, sorry not sorry.
I like Trish and Linda a lot, surprisingly so, considering how little of them we see. but their backseat interactions are Good.Ā
And yeah, ALL THE PUNS and i love them all. I like puns a lot and if i were a driver, i wouldnt feel like my pundamental rights were violated. but thats just me.
Also lmao @ theĀ āstupid goth boy who likes to stand in the rainā, i feel it so much. sometimes you just Got To be Miserable with a capital M. you gotta.
The ending is such a bittersweet accent, considering imperial phase. I just miss my boy so much
Taraās story: it is just sad and heartbreaking. And yes Ananke, you are so cruel. But the lineĀ āThey will not approve, so what? You can live with thatā is haunting. As a bullied kid, i was told this a lot. They donāt like you? so what? you shouldnt care. and so on. These all feel so damaging, especially when youāre a child, but at least Ananke knows that it is cruel. Or is the unaware cruelty better than the one youāre aware of? I donāt know, i just want to give Tara a big hug.
Amamterasuās story is pretty interesting. She seems more sympathetic than when we last met her and i can assume a lot of That comes from being misguided and overdosing on divinity. Also her beret looks really good.Ā
Also the way Luci acts around the media here really puts some more light on herĀ ādonāt stop filmingā line in #5. I mean it was obvious, but now it is even moreso.
And I guess Amaterasu was a pretty good judge of the character in her drawings. I guess.
And the last story: THANK YOU FOR ALL THE FRECKLES I AM PERSONALLY VICTIMISED YET GRATEFUL. VERY GRATEFUL. PUREST FANSERVICE.
So, to sum up? I really liked this issue, a perfect early Christmas gift in such a miserable day of Wednesday the 13th. And Iād love to talk even more about it!
