AU where ghost is a relatively famous voice actor—by name, anyway. he’s never shown his face in those ‘behind-the-scenes’ videos, doesn’t do red carpets for the bigger productions, always leaves the press junkets to his colleagues. he loves his job, don’t get him wrong, it’s fun and creative and he’s met some really great people, he just… has never wanted to be in the limelight. that’s not for him.
and it’s easy to get away with, because all of the voices he uses are not really his. there’s elements of him, sure, but nothing someone in person could necessarily place, unless they really listened close and were some kind of super fan. in real life, ghost is soft spoken, and maybe his voice is a little rough from the years before he learned how to properly take care of his vocal cords, but it’s still completely separate from all his characters. that was a rule he stuck with throughout his career—no using his real voice.
soap likes to consider himself a fan of simon riley.
(of his work, obviously. just his work. he definitely isn’t intrigued or anything by the mystery that is the voice actor. nuh uh. not at all.)
he’s seen just about every film and show that features one of the actor’s many voices, knows what little trivia is known of him, and, ultimately, he really respects the guy. his younger sister had finally landed herself a sizeable role in voice acting pretty recently after years of odds and ends, and soap knows how difficult it is to make it in the industry. so what if he may also have a little bit of a crush on the unknown man’s talent?
and so what if that little crush has presently brought him to a bookstore, because soap had heard simon would be voicing a character in some adaptation and soap wanted to get himself caught up? it’s fine. it’s normal. totally normal.
it’s in search of the book when soap accidentally stumbles into an absolute brick-wall of a man as he rounds the corner. soap mutters out apologies, goes to move past him, but then looks up and melts, just a little. because it’s then that soap discovers the prettiest set of brown eyes he thinks he’s ever seen. and when his gaze briefly flicks down—he sees that the man is holding the book he’d been looking for.
soap grins, does his best to look charming in spite of the fact that he’d just run into this poor, beautiful bastard. “was lookin’ for that one, too.”
the man’s brow furrows in confusion before he realizes what soap had been referring to. his eyes fall almost self-consciously to the book.
“oh, yeah. it’s a good book. gave my nephew my other copy, so i’m just…” the man lifts the book in some helpless gesture.
“hm.” soap nods. he can’t help but notice how soothing the man’s voice is, low and rough around the edges, but completely soft in the middle. “y’hear they’re making a movie?”
the man perks up, and for a moment soap wonders if that’s panic he sees flash in his eyes. he clears his throat. “yes, that’s actually why i’m, well. i owned it before, but because i’m doing the—because of the movie, i had to…” the man sighs, shoulders slumping. it’s endearing, the way he’s gotten so easily flustered, like he isn’t used to small talk. “never mind. i’ll let you… i hope you enjoy it. the book. and movie too, i guess.”
soap laughs, not unkindly. “the book, we’ll see. favourite actor’s in the movie, so i’ll probably like it either way.”
“yeah?” the man cocks his head, curious. “who’s that?”
unashamedly, soap replies, “simon riley.”
it’s not unnoticeable, the way the man’s face blossoms a faint pink before he coughs and ducks his head. “he’s, uh. heard he’s good,” he says. “so others say.”
for a moment, it looks like the man is preparing to bolt, so soap sticks out his hand as a last-minute resort to keep him around just a little longer. “i’m john. friends call me soap. long story, but if you maybe let me take you out for some coffee, i could tell you?”
apprehension lines the man’s posture, but he eventually tucks the book under one arm and shakes soap’s hand. “friends call me ghost. and i’d like that.”
ghost’s hand is warm, his grip firm. soap tries not to let himself linger in the touch.
“sounds like a date.” soap smiles up at ghost. “did you want to do that today, or…?”
ghost shakes his head. “can’t today. but i can give you my number?”
soap agrees, but as he reaches for his phone he’s met with an empty pocket and the realization that he’d left it on the counter at home. he sighs, feeling disheartened, readying an excuse when he gets an idea. “d’you have a pen?”
ghost does, in fact, have a pen, though soap supposes he could’ve just gone and bought one from the bookstore just as well. soap tells him to stay put a minute, goes to retrieve his own copy of the book, and comes back with it opened to the first page.
“i’m buying it, anyway,” soap says. and it’s commemorative, he doesn’t add, of the day and reason we met. because he’s hopeful this may actually go somewhere.
ghost writes his phone number inside, deliberately hands the book back to soap with the cover pressed closed by his thumb, and they head to the register together.
it’s only when soap gets home and finally goes to type ghost’s number into his phone that he sees, above the digits, a small simon :) inscribed on the paper.

This was a really lovely read!!! Similar to Green Corridors, I also am a big fan of Greenways- I didn't realize I already knew what they were until I looked into them, but they are essentially the conversion of strips of city to help biodiversity conservation, improve city heat islands (as mentioned in the article), and improve the human experience of living in urban landscapes in a BIG way.
Tumblr media
There are a number of historical precedents of people planning cities around nature and people, and the effects make a huge difference. The first time I came face to face with a world designed around those things, I was lucky and privileged enough to join an exchange program to Japan for 2 weeks. I lived with my exchange sibling and their family in Japan, and I got to travel around a lot because of it. The things you see in anime do largely apply to many areas of Tokyo- the city feels a lot more human centric. It's kind of stupidly easy to travel even far distances without a car. The train system is well designed and very punctual and frequent, which allows for a lot more flexibility with travel, and the shinkansen makes it so you can travel far distances so fast it's amazing!
And the cities are so easy to walk through- there's lots of nature, so many little back streets and shortcuts and architecture that feels like they were built for desire paths, and it made for a really fun time exploring and walking and even just finding places to sit and relax as if it was miles from the city in some cases.
Now there's plenty that's not perfect- I did struggle with accessibility in terms of frequent seating areas with chronic pain in really bustling city centers, and the panic of some of the highest density and pushy crowds in areas of the city like Shibuya and Harajuku were pretty bad for my overstimulation issues. But it gives us a glimpse at what amazing city designs could do if we built for preserving nature, and giving a good quality of life experience to anyone who engages with the city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back in the U.S. it was kind of startling how terribly our cities are built on the whole compared to this. I've been able to find a couple pockets, towns, and cities that do a pretty good job of these things, but the majority of places that I have ever visited in the United States are extremely inaccessible to things other than cars. Nature suffers, people suffer, and even businesses suffer in some cases.
But work is being done to improve things here though! I found The Rose Kennedy Greenway Park while making a stop on my Amtrak trip 2 years ago, and that was a lovely little highlight. I wanted to take a little wander before my next train, and I went to go on a journey to get some coffee and a mochi doughnut before I headed out, and passed through the Greenway on my walk. It's not like you could pretend you weren't in the city, but the Greenway used to be a TERRIBLE central artery running through Boston that was converted since they were dealing with so many traffic issues.
But now, converted into this park, it was a lovely little experience for me! There were a lot of local flora, little buggies (I heard that there are areas that even have full meadows and beehives for pollinator insects) and people were just sitting and relaxing, and I saw a lot of people walking in that area compared to other areas of the city that I've seen that are just not human friendly to be around.
Tumblr media
My little city of Worcester is another sad example of what happens what you let cars and capitalism drive the design of our world. Black top buildings sprawl inefficiently and the city center is dead. Business fronts have been empty for years from driven up rental prices that landlords sit on hoping for a renaissance of big businesses to pay those prices, and no one walks because you would have to walk for ridiculously long times without shade, open businesses to wander into, trash cans, seating, and even sidewalk in some places before you can arrive.
Investing in good city design makes the world so much more beautiful, and I dream of a day where we more intensely invest in living in urban areas and making the experience human and nature-focused so that we can protect wider areas of untouched nature, be closer together, and pool our resources to support all of us no matter what our needs are <3
"With “green corridors” that mimic the natural forest, the Colombian city is driving down temperatures — and could become five degrees cooler over the next few decades.
In the face of a rapidly heating planet, the City of Eternal Spring — nicknamed so thanks to its year-round temperate climate — has found a way to keep its cool.
Previously, Medellín had undergone years of rapid urban expansion, which led to a severe urban heat island effect — raising temperatures in the city to significantly higher than in the surrounding suburban and rural areas. Roads and other concrete infrastructure absorb and maintain the sun’s heat for much longer than green infrastructure.
“Medellín grew at the expense of green spaces and vegetation,” says Pilar Vargas, a forest engineer working for City Hall. “We built and built and built. There wasn’t a lot of thought about the impact on the climate. It became obvious that had to change.”
Efforts began in 2016 under Medellín’s then mayor, Federico Gutiérrez (who, after completing one term in 2019, was re-elected at the end of 2023). The city launched a new approach to its urban development — one that focused on people and plants.
The $16.3 million initiative led to the creation of 30 Green Corridors along the city’s roads and waterways, improving or producing more than 70 hectares of green space, which includes 20 kilometers of shaded routes with cycle lanes and pedestrian paths.
These plant and tree-filled spaces — which connect all sorts of green areas such as the curb strips, squares, parks, vertical gardens, sidewalks, and even some of the seven hills that surround the city — produce fresh, cooling air in the face of urban heat. The corridors are also designed to mimic a natural forest with levels of low, medium and high plants, including native and tropical plants, bamboo grasses and palm trees.
Heat-trapping infrastructure like metro stations and bridges has also been greened as part of the project and government buildings have been adorned with green roofs and vertical gardens to beat the heat. The first of those was installed at Medellín’s City Hall, where nearly 100,000 plants and 12 species span the 1,810 square meter surface.
“It’s like urban acupuncture,” says Paula Zapata, advisor for Medellín at C40 Cities, a global network of about 100 of the world’s leading mayors. “The city is making these small interventions that together act to make a big impact.”
At the launch of the project, 120,000 individual plants and 12,500 trees were added to roads and parks across the city. By 2021, the figure had reached 2.5 million plants and 880,000 trees. Each has been carefully chosen to maximize their impact.
“The technical team thought a lot about the species used. They selected endemic ones that have a functional use,” explains Zapata.
The 72 species of plants and trees selected provide food for wildlife, help biodiversity to spread and fight air pollution. A study, for example, identified Mangifera indica as the best among six plant species found in Medellín at absorbing PM2.5 pollution — particulate matter that can cause asthma, bronchitis and heart disease — and surviving in polluted areas due to its “biochemical and biological mechanisms.”
And the urban planting continues to this day.
The groundwork is carried out by 150 citizen-gardeners like Pineda, who come from disadvantaged and minority backgrounds, with the support of 15 specialized forest engineers. Pineda is now the leader of a team of seven other gardeners who attend to corridors all across the city, shifting depending on the current priorities...
“I’m completely in favor of the corridors,” says [Victoria Perez, another citizen-gardener], who grew up in a poor suburb in the city of 2.5 million people. “It really improves the quality of life here.”
Wilmar Jesus, a 48-year-old Afro-Colombian farmer on his first day of the job, is pleased about the project’s possibilities for his own future. “I want to learn more and become better,” he says. “This gives me the opportunity to advance myself.”
The project’s wider impacts are like a breath of fresh air. Medellín’s temperatures fell by 2°C in the first three years of the program, and officials expect a further decrease of 4 to 5C over the next few decades, even taking into account climate change. In turn, City Hall says this will minimize the need for energy-intensive air conditioning...
In addition, the project has had a significant impact on air pollution. Between 2016 and 2019, the level of PM2.5 fell significantly, and in turn the city’s morbidity rate from acute respiratory infections decreased from 159.8 to 95.3 per 1,000 people [Note: That means the city's rate of people getting sick with lung/throat/respiratory infections.]
There’s also been a 34.6 percent rise in cycling in the city, likely due to the new bike paths built for the project, and biodiversity studies show that wildlife is coming back — one sample of five Green Corridors identified 30 different species of butterfly.
Other cities are already taking note. Bogotá and Barranquilla have adopted similar plans, among other Colombian cities, and last year São Paulo, Brazil, the largest city in South America, began expanding its corridors after launching them in 2022.
“For sure, Green Corridors could work in many other places,” says Zapata."

Could do a agathaRio Vidal x goddess!reader *angst and death of a character*
R is basically the goddess of creation *her powers are like a counterpart for Rio meaning whenever she collects the souls of people that die, r creates new life and both usually never interfere with each other Job unlesss it absolutely necessary and is dating both. Rio and her are very close to each other because of their powers working together as one so it’s not surprising that Agatha falls for both and working together to create life using magic*
She may not have known about Agatha having a son, she can feel her anguish and pain and hates when both fight and Agatha being angry at both of them
During Rio and Agatha fighting each other, r makes the biggest sacrifice by trading her life to bring back Nicholas *she love them both and would anything to make them happy even giving up her powers for them but there a big penalty of using magic like this and falling in love while making sure she does her job with no distraction. she watches over them in spirit even sending a sign letting them know she ok but also tells Agatha that Billy needs her guidence*
Both Rio and Agatha feeling regret and guilt because of this and makes sure Nicholas never forget r and her heroic deed *r acts like a third mother to nicky*
- And if she grabs for your hand, and drags you along
Relationships: Agatha Harkeness x Rio Vidal x Reader
Summary: Even in Death, you found a way to watch over your family.
Warnings: Character death. Nothing else (lemme know if I missed anything)
A/N: Took me a hot minute, but this was really fun to write. Sorry if it strayed a bit from the original request, but I hope it's still satisfying!
Death and Life were often seen as counterparts, and on a surface level, they were. Death was associated with destruction and decay. Life was often thought of as creation and blossoming flowers. You and Rio were supposed to be exact opposites.
For the most part, you were. Rio was sarcastically playful and sharp, and you were blunt yet soft.
You created life. Whenever Rio stole, you gave. Whenever you breathed life into a new soul, Rio sucked someone clean of their life. It was a delicate balance that had to be maintained
In the thousands of years (honestly you had lost track) that the two of you had worked together to create balance, you had grown close. A relationship had developed. One that was strictly meant to be had outside of your job. It was not meant to interfere with your duties.
But that promise that deal, became increasingly hard when a certain someone came along. Agatha Harkness.
A witch killer, a woman with chaos magic. At first you were cautious about interacting with her, instead choosing to hang back as Rio teased and flirted with your permission of course. It was amusing to watch Rio fumble slightly at Agatha's snappy remarks. Typically, she was the one on top in your relationship. Most metaphorically and literally. Then as time passed, you found out why Rio had fallen for Agatha.
She was just a young witch trying to survive in a world that was not meant for witches. Most witches would curl their lips at her, she was a coven less witch after all, but all you saw was the best parts about her. Her humor that never failed to make you laugh, the softness of her lips, her hands that trailed down your body gently - savoring every bit of it. What was meant to be something that never developed turned into something more.
Two divine beings, goddesses, had fallen in love with a mere witch. It was straight out of a fairy tale.
And when you mixed Death and Life with a mortal vessel, well, you got something interesting. You were given a child fated to die. At first, you hardly noticed the life brewing in Agatha's stomach. It was masked by a cloud of death. It was a child that was never meant to live.
But as her stomach grew in size and she became even harsher than usual, you realized something was up. Rio had known all along. She could feel the trail of death that followed Agatha around like a lost puppy, hovering over her stomach and waiting for the right moment. You tried not to let it hurt that neither of them told you.
You didn't find out until the child was born.
Sitting in the forest, playing with flowers, you gasped as you felt an anomaly enter the world. A creature that was born of Life and Death. Something that made your powers go wild and spring you into action. You teleported instantly, eyes widening at the sight before you.
Agatha was leaning up against a tree, her breath heavy and blood slowly dripping from between her legs, and her eyes were trained in front of her. Death stood there, dressed in an elegant green dress, and her lips pursed, and brows furrowed. She was apologetic.
You tilted your gaze towards the witch, eyes narrowing in on her. She was giving birth. She was with child.
"You are with child?" Your words were said slowly, offended that you were not told.
Eyes snapping towards you, Agatha exhaled sharply, tears pooling in her eyes, "Clearly," her tone was clipped and tight with pain, "Please, my love, let him live." It was a plea for life, begging Life herself to let Death's child live.
Your fingers twitched as you glanced at Rio, and with one look you knew that you could not save this child. Agatha must have noticed because she let out a near animalistic sound.
"If you do this, I will hate you both forever," she snarled, yet her eyes betrayed her harsh tone. They were filled with tears and desperation. She was pleading for her son to live. Your heart broke at her fragility, and you wanted nothing more than to give her what she wanted.
Rio sighed, "I cannot my love. She is unable to do it." She gestured towards you.
Pressing further into the tree, Agatha shook her head, "I won't let you."
Slowly, Rio tried to take a step forward, but a weak purple glow flickered in Agatha's hands. Your breathing quickened. Rio stopped when she noticed the magic, unwilling to hurt her girlfriend, but she had a job to do.
The gears turned in your head. Rio was only required to collect a soul. An eye for an eye. It didn't matter what soul really, as long as she met her quota for the day then her job would be fulfilled. And before you could stop yourself, you blurted,
"Take me," Both women snapped their heads towards you, "My life should be enough. He can live forever. Take me instead."
You could see Rio considering it, her mind mulling over the possibilities. You knew it was possible; it had to be. Agatha let out a cry of pain. You rushed towards her, steadying her before lowering her to the ground.
She gripped your arm tightly, "I don't- You can't-"
Emotions were at war inside her. On one hand, she didn't want to lose you, she couldn't. But on the other, Agatha wanted this child so much. She wanted to be better than her mother, she wanted to cherish him or her and love and care for her baby forever.
Wrapping your arms around her, savoring in her warmth, you placed a kiss on her forehead. Her fingernails were digging into your skin, hard enough to draw blood, but you hardly cared. Instead, you held her as she bit down on her own teeth.
Rio said nothing, her hands clenched at her sides as she watched the two of you. In that moment, she knew that there was nothing she could do that would stop you. It was better this way anyways. Being a goddess had its perks, so she suspected that you would still be able to visit in ghost form. (And if you weren't then she would take Agatha and the child to visit you.)
Agatha cried out as she pushed the child, clutching onto you tightly, a lifeline as pain flared through her. You held her tightly, willing to be her support and offered Rio a soft smile. Death had never hated her job more. You could feel the life leave the boy the minute he left his mother body, but at the same time, Rio took your soul. You didn't have to die for it to happen, but you felt yourself leaving.
"Can I see him?" You asked faintly, giving Rio a pleading glance. This situation was hitting her the hardest out of all of you, at least emotionally. She didn't want to take your soul. Even though she would still be able to see you, Rio didn't want to cause any more pain to Agatha.
She nodded, barely perceptible, and you offered her a dazzling smile. Your arm was burning Agatha's tight grip, but you hardly cared, instead tears welled in your eyes when Agatha released you and cradled a little boy. He was bloody and crying loudly, but he was perfect. Giving Agatha one last squeeze, you placed a kiss on top of her head, before bending down to press another to the boy's head.
"Goodbye my loves."
Agatha looked like she was going to cry, but instead she just clenched her jaw and held her child tightly. You stood and approached Rio. Death had her eyes shut, lips pursed tightly, and you cupped her face.
"It's alright," you whispered, her eyes fluttered open when you caressed her cheekbones, "I want this."
Rio swallowed thickly, but took a hold of your wrists, and then you were gone.
^_____________^
Nicholas was turning five today. Your ghostly form drifted towards the house, a soft smile on your face. You may be slightly transparent and could float and drift through things, but you could become physical enough to enter the mortal plane and interact with things. Slowly, you opened the door as quietly as possible and slipped inside. You could feel Rio already inside.
Apparently, you weren’t quiet enough, because footsteps came barreling towards you. A tiny body crashed into yours. Your form flickered slightly, not that Nicky noticed, but you crouched down, wrapping your arms around him.
"Mom!" he cried, burying his face into your shoulder. You laughed softly and placed a kiss to the top of his head.
"Hello, my little love," you cooed, "I brought you something." Nicky pulled away, bouncing on his toes excitedly. Even in death, your powers still worked. With a wiggle of your fingers, a plant appeared, potted already. It was a Venus fly trap, several plant mouths dangling open. "A Venus fly trap," you whispered.
Nicky blinked wide eyes, a smile curling at his lips. He looked so much like Rio. Delicately, as if afraid he would break it, Nicky told ahold of the plant. You laughed as he bolted off, shouting for his mama and mami.
"Bring it down," Agatha chastised gently. Despite her tone there was a soft glimmer of amusement in her eyes, and she placed a hand on Nicky's shoulder. He held the plant up to her face and Agatha pulled back slightly. "Very interesting."
Rio stood behind her, a small smile curling at her lips as she met your eyes, "Of course, you have to outdo me every time."
You raised a brow.
"Mami forgot," he said bluntly, yet you didn't believe that for one second. Rio would never forget. She shrugged cryptically and hid a large smile into Agatha's neck.
Turns out, you found out several hours later that Rio got Nicky a goat. Suffice to say, Agatha was not happy, but Nicholas certainly was - based on his excited screams and overjoyed clapping.
^_______________^
Squirming relentlessly, Nicky screamed as Rio dangled him over the water by his ankles. It was a lake day with the four of you. Agatha and you lounged on the shore, with you curling into her side, and Agatha rolling her eyes at Rio's antics. Your form had been flickering in and out of the mortal plane that day, but you still chose to hang out regardless. Being the girlfriend of death may have allowed you to break some rules, but that didn't mean the laws of nature had to like it. You weren't supposed to be here.
"Should I drop him?" Rio hollered. She stood over a small cliff, just about a yard above the water.
Nicky shook his head, "No!"
She ignored him. You laughed softly, sitting up slightly from your spot next to Agatha. The woman pouted when you extracted yourself from her grip, but sat up with you, her arm wrapping around your shoulders.
"I don't know," You gave a hum of consideration, "He didn't give me a hug when I showed up."
With Nicholas getting older, him now being eleven years, he began acting moodier. Like he didn't care. You knew that he still did, but it still hurt a little. Nicky stared at you, betrayed at your words, and let out a scream as Rio dropped him. Blowing you a kiss, Rio jumped in after him.
You giggled and pressed a kiss onto Agatha's cheek. The two of them emerged seconds later, Nicky propped up on Rio's shoulders and her arms digging into his sides as she tickled her. He was screaming, squirming in her grip, and trying to fight Rio off.
"Mom!" He called for help, "Mama!"
Agatha rolled her eyes, but reluctantly stood, offering you a hand. You took it with a soft smile and waded into the water. Rio and your son were back under, presumably wrestling, and you could see ripples on the surface.
You shrieked as something touched your ankle, sending Agatha a withering glare when she smothered a cackle. Then, you were being yanked under the water, fully submerged. Arms were wrapped around you, and you were grateful you didn't need to breath to survive, because water would have flooded your lungs.
Seconds later, you were dragged up, Agatha's arms hoisting you up. She was cackling relentlessly and her head was thrown back. You gave her a side eye, shoving at her harshly, and she fell into the water.
"Hey!" She spluttered as she emerged, her hair clinging to her face. As she began to come over to you, ready to take revenge, she disappeared beneath the water. You burst out laughing.
Something tickled your ankle again, and you floated above the water, a triumphant smirk on your face. Nicky popped above the water, a pout on his face.
"Not fair!"
While he was busy whining at you, Agatha and Rio had emerged in the distance, their lips connecting the moment they noticed Nicky was distracted. You scoffed, pouting a little, but kept Nicky's attention.
"Fairly fair," you smirked down at him and kicked your foot, water splashing in his face.
He spluttered, wiping his hair out of his eyes, and glaring at you. With one sudden movement, you were yanked back under. Nicky had his arms wrapped around your ankles, before moving up to your waist, and you wrapped your arms around him return. Kicking both of you to the surface, you showered his face in kisses, ignoring his protests.
This was your baby boy, and you would do anything to keep him safe.
^_____________^
Despite being hundreds of years old, Nicholas still acted like a moody teenager. You floated beside him, your form only visible to him and Agatha. A boy stood in front of Agatha, going on a fake tirad about how much he read about her. You rolled your eyes. Leaning down so that you were right next to Nicky's ear and he flinched.
"He's fake," you whispered, tilting your head as you studied him. He walked around with an air of death, much similar to Nicky and Rio, although not as strong. His death was covered up by a sigil and some other powerful magic. "And supposed to be dead."
While you didn't appreciated people being fake to your wife, you still felt a pull towards him. He was special, you knew that much, but there was something else. You couldn't quite place your finger on it. During her many years of being alive, Agatha did many cons, mostly to grow her own power, but you think Westview was one of the unnecessary ones. And as you stared at the kid longer, you realized who he was.
Billy Maximoff. He had a familiar air around him. Yet he was supposed to be dead.
Oh Rio would be so pissed.
You hovered over to Agatha and sat on the arm of her chair. She gave you a side-eye and you could tell she was pissed. After Wanda, you may or may not have let her stay under the spell, but it’s not like you could do much to help her anyways. You didn't have a physical form.
"You need to help him."
Agatha rolled her eyes, not that Billy noticed, but she cut him off.
"I'll help you."
Nicholas raised both of his brows, casting you a confused look, and you shrugged with a small smirk.
Oh Rio was going to be so mad at you.

hello! a summer request for my sweet hotch, maybe him taking care of reader's allergies or a cute picnic date (jack included)
hope you have a lovely day sweetheart 🩷
hiii tysm for your request!! hope you’re having a lovely day too angel 🫶 so sorry it’s not summer anymore but hopefully you still enjoy! | 0.8k words of fluff!!
Aaron is not known to take many days off, but summer seems to get him out of the office more than any other season. Even more so ever since he met you.
More again as soon as he introduced you to Jack, to the most important person in his life. Jack liked you immediately, and he never stops asking when he’ll see you next. Though there’s a void left behind by Haley that will never quite be filled, you all know it, but your presence in both of the Hotchner’s lives has brightened them in ways Aaron doesn’t think you could understand.
It’s why, today, he’s taken the day off on purpose. He’d even gone as far as to tell the team not to call him unless absolutely necessary. He trusts them, and they bug him to take breaks more than anyone, anyways.
There’s a classic red and white gingham blanket spread beneath you on the grass, the sun bright in the sky and saturating the park around you.
Aaron’s barely unpacked the snacks before Jack is jumping up and asking his dad for permission to go play.
“Only where I can see you,” Hotch says, “okay, buddy?”
“I know, dad!” Jack’s already running off before you can even tell him to have fun.
Aaron watches his son go, squinting in the sun, keeping an eye on Jack until he’s made it to a small group of other kids by the slide before turning back to you.
You’re scrunching your nose and rubbing at your eyes when he does, and Aaron frowns a little when you sniffle.
Always far too observant, he tilts his head at you and asks, “You okay, honey?”
You nod, because you really are.
You’ve had allergies for most of your life, you think, so it’s nothing to worry about. It’s just annoying. You’d woken up and could already tell it was a bad day for them, less air passing through your nose, your eyes itchy.
But days like these—the ones with Aaron and Jack and beautiful weather and nobody working—are rare, and you’d never be caught giving up time with your people just because of some allergies.
“I’m fine, just my allergies.” You smile at him and grab a nacho from the spread, dipping it into the layered salsa from the grocery store and popping it into your mouth.
“Why didn’t you tell me they were acting up?” Hotch asks, thumb wiping a bit of salsa from the corner of your mouth gently without a thought. Sweet and subconscious.
“Because you would’ve made me stay in bed and bring me soup like it was the flu,” you say, knee bumping his. “I’m out of meds, but I didn’t wanna miss this. Jack was so excited and I was, too. I love being with you guys.”
And fuck, Aaron’s heart squeezes in his chest at the way you speak so fondly about him and Jack, like they’re your own family. At how you’re willing to be uncomfortable just to keep plans intact.
He trails a knuckle down your bare arm, all the way down until he catches your hand and gives it a squeeze. “We don’t have to stay long.”
“I know,” you scoot closer and drop your head against his shoulder.
It’s only twenty minutes later, and after many sneezes (and ‘bless you’s from Aaron), he’s packing up the picnic and not letting you argue it. Your eyes are reddened and watery, and he can hear how stuffy your nose is by your voice, and he doesn’t want you to feel worse.
And maybe he likes the idea of getting to take care of you over something small like this. How domestic it is.
“Alright, let’s go home, yeah?” Aaron pats your thigh softly. “I know you wanted to tough it out, but i can tell it’s bugging you. There’s a pharmacy down the street, we’ll stop for meds.”
There’s no sense fighting him when your allergies are bugging you, when he’s so stubborn with his plans, with how kind the tone of his voice is.
“Okay. Maybe we can watch a movie when we get back? Jack can pick since we’re making him leave early.”
“You sure?” Aaron raises his eyebrows. “He’s gonna make us watch Big Hero 6 for the hundredth time, you know?”
“I know that you secretly love that movie.”
“That wore off at the tenth watch, honey.”
You laugh, then sneeze, and Aaron shakes his head at you fondly before calling Jack back over and promising to buy him a candy bar at the pharmacy for cutting his game short.
The candy bar is long gone by the time you’re all settled on the Hotchner’s couch to watch Big Hero 6 again, and you and Aaron share a secret smile when Jack announces it as his pick.

That basically sums up my response to seeing the number.
When I slipped onto Tumblz last year I wasn't sure what to expect. To be honest I am still not sure. I figured it is a place to just dump tortol pictures. I like drawing them. I'm happy to see that people enjoy them.
I wasn't sure how things worked at first (and a lot of things I am still unsure of how it works, this site is still really confusing ok) but thank you all so much for your support and interest! Your reblog tags are fun to read and make me cackle a lot at times, especially you repeat offenders. I'm thankful for those I've gotten to talk to and even if I don't talk a whole lot, I appreciate you all and the words you take the time to leave for me.
Of course, this isn't all going to be words.
For the occasion I've decided to do a DTIYS. I've decided to also open it to drabble, because I know a lot of people out there write rather than draw, and I thought it'd be fun to have an open opportunity for either. Of course figuring out a picture that would work for both was tricky, so I hope this suffices!
Tumblr media
I decided to go with the Fang!AU for this one since I wanted to draw something closer to the canon. I could not resist doing something silly
Rules! DTIYS or Write something to go with this picture. It doesn't have to be long but if you want to write a novella I certainly won't stop you. XD Please tag me so I can seeeee!
Deadline is the end of December!
I'm not going to do winner placements because I hate choosing but I will definitely do a thing which I will clarify later.
If I forgot anything please forgive me, I still really have no idea what I'm expected to do with these things
Have fun with it! And thank you again for your support! :D

This whole little event is a little last minute, but I hope it can encourage everyone to read, write, and share all the stories that move us, that bring us together, and that drive us forwards. And you know what? You're more than welcome to use this to repost and promote FanArt too! 🥰
Tumblr media
I really look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with, share what you love and give the gift of kudos and reading lists~ I'll schedule a weekly post and daily posts too so you can more easily follow one or all of the prompts. I don't have a prize for anyone who does all of them, but I will hand you an imaginary crown that is just so sparkly-

i’m dumb (she’s a lesbian)
ft. jimmy x fem!reader
tags. homophobia, non-con/rape, jimmy forces himself on a lesbian, homophobic slurs, forced orgasm, facial, death threats, choking, misogyny
note. um #yeah don’t like don’t read. rbs and feedback always appreciated :3 ignore any mistakes this is unedited, gets very disjointed..
Tumblr media
Jimmy sees you from across the bar. You have this cute little girl pout and these bouncy tits that really have some life to them. Your stuck-up friend is already all over Curly, raking her acrylic claws down his chest while he buys her a fruity drink.
He doesn’t even get the chance to open his mouth before you’re covering your drink, mouth a thin red line as you tell him—“I’m a lesbian.”
Beside him, your friend is giggling obnoxiously at something unfunny Curly has said. He’s got this pretty young thing rubbing up on him, pressing her perky tits against his and it’s so not fair that he gets stuck with the dyke.
”Didn’t ask.” Jimmy’s lip curls up in distaste like he wasn’t just wondering about whether your pussy was shaved or not. After that revelation, he’s guessing you let it get a little wild. Feminism and lesbianism and bush and all that. They go hand in hand. “You sure as hell don’t look like one.” He can never help himself, he can’t leave it at that.
“Excuse me?” You scoff, standing a little straighter, the anger that flares up inside of you has taken you off guard. The hand once firmly placed over your cocktail is in a tight fist by your side.
Jimmy shrugs. “I’m just sayin’ you don’t look like one.” He leers at you, your shapely thighs and heart-shaped ass. “You sure about it?”
“Yes I am.”
He takes you in. Perfect down to your manicured, painted toes. You’ve got this look about you, a certain softness that comes with never having to work for what you want. “How’d you know?” He taunts, tilting his head in challenge. “You slept with a guy before?”
“I don’t need to sleep with a guy to know.” You take a step back, raising a dainty paw in the air to keep him at arms length - those rings could double as knuckle dusters, well-tended to cuticles, nails filed into perfect chromatic black points, the polish shining like the shells on brilliant, exotic beetles.
He doesn’t buy it. You’re young, stupid, and confused.
“Yeah? You want a sticker for that?” It’s okay, really, happens to the best people. Confusion does. Jimmy caught a glimpse of Curly’s dick at a sleepover once and he was confused for a week or so. He passed it off as jealousy. That thing was a monster. There’s no way Jimmy wanted it up his ass. He doesn’t want anything up his ass, and you just need to be broken in.
You knock back your drink - the one he considered spiking, one hand in his pocket messing with a baggie - signalling to your friend that you’re stepping outside for a smoke. Instead of taking it as a cue to back off, Jimmy follows, slinking behind you like bad news. A fox in the bushes, nifty and deliberate like he’s ready to pounce, but happy to stalk you from afar.
“Leave me alone.” You raise your voice, hoping to catch the attention of anyone as he trails you, heavy footfall matching the click-clack of your pristine heels.
“I just want to talk,” Jimmy drawls, humoured by your clumsy urgency, a hand striking out to clamp down on your wrist. You’re fever-hot, a flame he’d happily let burn him alive. He’s a moth, wings scorched for one fleeting moment in your light.
Worth it.
“About what?!”
“Come on,” Jimmy sighs like he’s hurt, “about us.”
“There is no us, I don’t know you!” You’re so fun to rile up. So young and fiery and easy. “I know it must be hard for you to find a girl that wants to put up with…” With your free hand, you gesture abstractly to him, the wear and tear of his aging face, dirty jeans, scuffed boots, the scruff. “With this… But I am a lesbian, okay? I like girls, I don’t want to have sex with you, I don’t even want to be near you.”
To be entirely frank, it doesn’t matter if you’re a lesbian or a doctor or a cleaner or a nurse or a lawyer, you could be the goddamn president and Jimmy wouldn’t give a fuck. You’re a girl, and even prissy little dykes have wet little pussies between their thighs.
So, he backs you up against a brick wall, blocking your view of the street, of the drunk bar-goers walking by, the cars zooming past. One of Jimmy’s cold hands moves fast up your thigh and under your dress, trapping itself in your cotton undies. “I don’t care,” he tells you honestly, sneering down at you while he cups your warm cunt.
It’s freshly shaved. A lesbian that shaves, alright. Sure. Whatever floats your boat.
“Aw.” Jimmy gives you a falsely cordial smile as you writhe, mouth open in silent terror as you try to comprehend what’s happening. “Look at that.” He runs his finger along the seam of your cunt, the razor bumps. “You thought you were gonna get laid, that’s so cute.” And you will. By him. Your efforts won’t go to waste. A dick is a man’s best friend, and soon it’ll be yours too.
He squeezes your mound and you yelp, squirming in his grasp. You smell like cinnamon and lotion and incense and expensive, girly things that make him slightly ill. “I’ve got a gun,” says Jimmy, who does not have a gun. His unspoken threat has your body going ramrod straight, fear glazing over your eyes. “Good girl,” he hums, taking his hand out of your panties, wiping it on his jeans.
You don’t have the chance to run, not when his arm is around your shoulders, not when you probably think he has a gun, and especially not in those heels. “I don’t want to—I don’t want to go with you.”
“God.” Jimmy rolls his eyes. “I told you I don’t care.” Kicking up a fuss in the middle of the street, you're a difficult one. It’s okay though, he likes fighters. He likes to watch them kick and scream. It gets so boring when they start to like it.
“Help me!” You wave your arm wildly at a group of three who he’d spotted inside the bar earlier, they’re arm in arm, two guys and a pretty girl. She’s the first one to say anything, breaking away from her friends to ask if you’re okay. Ugh. He hates it.
“Babe,” Jimmy says, putting on his patient, slightly stressed boyfriend voice, “we need to get you home, come on.”
“He’s taking me! He tried to—“
“Babe,” he cuts in smoothly, a hand low on your back, rubbing circles into your skin, “I’m sorry about her, total lightweight, I should put her on a leash.”
“No worries, man.” The taller guy says, his cheeks are red from drinking. “This one gets like that too.” He laughs and pats the girls head. She’s hesitant to go even when he takes her arm.
“Are you sure—“
“Yes.” Jimmy nods.
“No! Oh my god—No, please don’t go!” Your eyes dart around for anyone else as they become mere dots in your vision, an escape route that doesn’t exist while Jimmy very happily drags you back to his car.
“I told you I had a gun,” he says very casually, like he’s reading a news report off of a teleprompter, loading you into the car like a fancy piece of luggage, “what if I used it?”
“I don’t believe you.” You cross your arms, trembling, fidgeting, and sniffling. Trying to come to terms with it all. “I can’t believe any of this, oh my god, you’re, like, kidnapping me you sicko!”
“I don’t want to keep you,” Jimmy clarifies. You’re already a handful, what could he possibly want from you that extends past your virgin pussy?
“So what do you want from me?” You ask, frowning down at your lap and dabbing away at the tears in your eyes.
“I’m just gonna show you a good time,” he reassures, patting your thigh, undeterred by the sharp slap you give his naughty hand, “no need to worry.”
For what might be the first time in your life, or at least Jimmy assumes, you fall completely quiet, watching the road with big, doleful eyes.
“Listen,” Jimmy sighs, “I just want to help you out, I don’t think it’s wrong or anything, uh, lesbians.“ Dykes, he wanted to say. “I just think you should try it out, a real dick, you ever put anything inside you?” He takes your silence as a no. “I guess not, huh? I’ve watched the videos—“ Religiously he watches them. Girls squeezing their tits together, spreading their holes for the camera before they lick into each other’s cunts, sloppy pussies slotting against one another, clits bumping. “—Just feels like something’s missing, something, uh, something real, it’s not sex if there’s no dick, if nothing goes inside.” He glances over at you. “What I’m trying to say is, you can’t knock it till you’ve tried it.”
“Are you done?” Your voice breaks.
“Uh, not really, but sure.” He wasn’t sure where he was going with that anyways. Maybe that dildos don’t count as dicks.
”You’re going to rape me.” You whimper like you haven’t known his intentions this entire time.
Bingo.
“Yeah.” Jimmy shrugs. “I guess I am.”
Your shoulders begin to shake, chest heaving as you try to control the jagged breaths that cut into you, hands covering your face as you sob.
He sighs, already exhausted by the dramatics. “And then I’m going to kill you,” he says dryly.
You sob louder, tossing your head back to really open your airways up, get as loud as possible.
“Alright, alright, I’m kidding,” Jimmy murmurs, rough palm smoothing over your inner thigh. “I’m not going to kill you.”
Tumblr media
Jimmy’s bed creaks with the deadweight of your body, it’s halfway busted, he found the mattress at a garage sale. Stained, noisy, but otherwise okay. He gets on top of you, hair hanging over your face like he’s isolating you from the rest of the world, there’s no way out of this.
You haven’t stopped crying. Snivelling, pouting, hiccuping like a child. Desperate sobs dying out in the face of his indifference. “Let me go,” you beg, “please don’t do this to me—“
God. That gets old fast.
He pays you no mind, used to tuning it out, both your wrists in his hand as he slides your panties down your kicking legs, dress scrunched up around your waist like a belt. Your pussy is too cute to go unfucked.
Jimmy undoes his belt, it hangs loose like a thread while he watches you pant and kick uselessly, thrashing like you’re working against a strong current. It’s cute. You’re trying to push through even as tiredness takes your tender muscles in its claws, spreading through your body like poison. Aw. You tuckered yourself out.
“Done?” Jimmy huffs out a laugh through his nose, sliding his jeans and boxers down his hips in one go, cock popping out and hanging heavy, the thick head prodding your thigh. It wets your skin with sticky pre and you recoil visibly, a shuddered breath passing through you. “Touch it,” he urges, “won’t bite.”
“No,” you mumble, closing your eyes, refusing to look at him or touch him or even breathe in his direction.
Clicking his tongue, Jimmy spreads your thighs, running the fat head up your slit. You’re not wet so he parts your cunt lips with his index and forefinger, a glob of spit dropping from his mouth, trickling down your folds and into your ass crack. It’ll do.
He presses the head to your tiny opening, where no real cock has been, this pretty little dyke cunt all for his taking. You cry out when he pushes in, hands flying to his shoulders, your nails on his skin are rewarding.
“No… No—It hurts, oh god.” Your eyes are wide open, jaw hanging open, pussy split open as he slides his dick in inch by painful inch, the painful drag of his shaft on your raw walls.
You push him out and he pushes harder on purpose, working against the resistance your cunt puts up until his balls press neatly to the swell of your ass. You’re saying something and Jimmy isn’t listening, too busy watching where the two of you meet, your hole split like an open wound. A rusty knife in your guts.
He grows tired of your aimless chatter, hand wrapping around your neck so tight you grow frantic, unable to draw breath, suffocating as every part of you is ruined by him. “I know it hurts,” Jimmy says monotonously, “it’ll get better.”
Hips drawn back, with a little difficulty, you’re not wet enough for it to happen smoothly, Jimmy slams back into you with a grunt, tip jabbing at your cervix so hard you let out a strangled noise. “Tell you what, I’ll pull out if you cum for me.”
Now, the female orgasm is none of Jimmy’s business, its a myth for all he cares, but to get a dyke to cum, that’s a different story. You’re going to cum no matter what, you don’t really have a say. Even when he removes his hand from your throat, there’s not much you can do about the deft fingers working on your clit.
It’s not quite right. Your pussy isn’t wet like a pussy should be. Sticky, letting the pads of his fingers glide over your clit until you cream your stupid dyke cunt all over him. Instead, it’s slippery, he ends up rubbing too hard, pinching your clit until his fingertips prune. Your breath is uneven, shaky, chapped lips parted as a pained look contorts your pretty face.
You are pretty. Too pretty to be a dyke. Too pretty to not be stuffed full of a big dick, he’s doing the right thing here. You just needed a push in the right direction.
He feels it, the way you go rigid, pussy so tight you cut off his blood circulation, and you cry. Boo-fucking-hoo, he made you cum. God forbid. Girls are never happy. You don’t make them cum and they claim to be gay, you make them cum and they freak out on you.
“I told you,” Jimmy hums, popping his cock out of your stretched hole, shifting upwards so his thighs are on either side of your head, “you gotta give it a try, now you don’t have to be confused.” He jerks his cock slowly, admiring the dead-eyed expression you’ve taken on, barely even blinking as he blows his load all over your face, in your hair and those expensive-looking false lashes.
Even dykes are a little straight, they just need a push in the right direction.

Of course I think you'd crush it as an ape! You're a great actor, so there's no doubt in my mind about that. It's not official yet, but there's definitely talk of a second film and don't worry, I'm putting your name into the mix for sure! Like you said, either way, it'd be a lot of fun just to mess with people and make them think you were part of the second film. Though I really hope we get to work together for real sometime, since you do seem like an incredible person to work with. Oh, no doubt at all since it's all a bit like movie magic with the CGI that looks so realistic and is so fun to play out at the same time. See, that's how I feel, that we have to keep our parents on their toes and amuse them at the same time, which we can do even if they won't admit being amused. It's just the amount of time spent that everything with ape mannerisms becomes such a habit that's difficult to break. I appreciate the vote of confidence that I'm not moving around like a chimp anymore either! It's a natural thing to miss characters you've spent so much time with, right? Plus Oberyn was such an amazing character too, so I can't blame you there! Are you feeling the same way about Mister Fantastic since you guys are officially wrapped now? The excitement for The Last of Us is so well earned when it's a great show, and though I'm not looking forward to well, certain spoilers, there's no doubt it'll still be so impactful given the rest of the show. I'm the same way, just grateful every time I get to step onto a new set and to be doing what I love as well. I am indeed, and the project's going pretty well! I think I've just hit the stage where I feel like we've been filming forever, but it's been a great one to work on so far. How about yourself, aside from all the promo? I told Joseph this and I'll tell you again, Gladiator II was incredible! | @josepedro

oh, i've no doubt that people in my family that are not in the industry thing that i've lost my mind -- so you're right, it's useful to have other actors that understand what you're going through. wait, you'd think i'd crush it as an ape? that's the sweetest compliment, thank you! also, heard the good news that a second one is in the cards! so don't forget to toss my name out there, alright? i'm laughing at the idea of starting a rumor saying i'm going to be in the second one, but not really be in it -- just mess with people! but thank you for saying you'd tell everyone i was great to work with. i can't be having anyone think i'm a diva, right? see, i had a feeling a lot of people wanted to see the magic behind the film because it's so damn interesting, you know? i just love everything you guys likely had to do and i can't help but want to know more. oh, i have a feeling you made your mom laugh no matter what she says. my mom always acts like she's sick of me and my antics, but i know she's secretly laughing. that's very true, and sometimes things are just harder to shake then others no matter what, and being a whole different species is one of those things that i know would be hard to shake. though after seeing you so much on set with joseph, and seeing you in salem, it's safe to say you're not moving around like a chimp anymore! you're not crazy at all saying you miss some of the characters that you've played, because i'm right along with you in missing some. i still miss oberyn, and he was very hard to let go, and that feels like ages ago! thank you for saying that, and i'm glad you're excited for the last of us to come back, because i'm excited for everyone to see season two! it does feel good when you live the dream as an actor, sometimes i'm still shocked this is my life. but every new project that i take, i can't help but be excited for every single one of them! i know you're working on a project right now, which is why i don't see that pretty face of yours on set anymore. how's that going? || @teaguehq

ONG I loved ur LSD I need more. Why were they in the room?why have Paul and reader sleeping together? How does the pack feel about this?….
I need answers 😩
omg thank youuu 🤭 ur questions will be answered hope you enjoy :)
L$D - reader x embry and paul x rachel
AN: for context, read: part 1 here this part is more or so the backstory that leads up to part 1. sorry if this story is too long :s
Rachel lounged comfortably as the afternoon sun was shining through the windows.
You lounged next to her. Rachel didn’t allow many people to be on her bed, but you both were very close.
One thing you liked about Rachel, was her openness. However, it was exclusive for those she handpicked to be in her life. Rachel enjoyed how you didn’t experience too much of life without her, she loved the curiosity and zest for life that you had. There have been instances where she had introduced you to things.
She was blunt. She didn’t care. That’s why your mouth was a bit open, not due to shock, but with what she said.
“We became open.”
“Huh?” you question her.
She makes a face that’s proving to you that she’s not lying.
“You could do that?” you ask her.
“Yeah.” she says as she laughs a little, “We agreed on conditions of course.”
“Do tell.” you say, itching for more information.
“I pick the girl. He picks the guy.”
“I guess…That’s fair.” you say.
You couldn’t imagine you and Embry being open. He’s all you’ve ever known. You felt the devotion from Embry to know that he would never go behind you. He told you everything. Sometimes, too much.
You also didn’t know, that imprints could do such a thing. Rachel must’ve seen the conflicted look on your face as she scarily answers the questions that was in your head.
“Paul is in the palm of my world. He just wants me happy. I’m the one who suggested it.”
You’re now in shock. Rachel being the one to give the green light was not what you expected.
“Guys usually are the ones I hear about suggesting open relationships.” you say, but then again, you were going off of the media you have consumed.
Rachel laughs at your statement.
“But, at least tell me why. I thought you and Paul were like…I don’t know, perfect.”
“I have needs as well. I like the feeling of not being tied down or feeling like I’m the reason the person who’s with me is tied down. I enjoy my bit of fun. Especially, since I’m still young.” she says.
“I hope it works out for you guys. You are my couple goals.” you say in a playful manner.
Rachel laughs again, “Who are you telling? You and Embry are already like a married couple.”
“Yeah right.” you quietly say as you wave her off.
“It’s true.” she says still chuckling.
You’re quiet and she notices.
“Hey, I’m sorry. I just think you and Embry are like the ideal imprint couple.”
You start thinking, “Hm…”
Paul came home. You couldn’t help but to watch them as they greeted each other. It was as if the talk that you and Rachel had was nothing.
“I’m gonna head back. Embry’s probably going to try to eat tv dinners so I have to make him something to eat.”
“Boooo.” Paul says in a teasing tone and Rachel laughs as she couldn’t help it.
“Yeah, yeah. I’ll see you guys later.” you say and exit out of their shared home.
You hear Embry’s fork clatter down softly and you look up.
“What are you thinking about?” he asks.
“Nothing, really.” you say but he’s not convinced.
“If it’s nothing, then why are you thinking about it?” he asks. You softly sigh.
“It’s only girl talk with Rachel, really.” you say.
He leaves it at that.
Rachel sings along to the radio, as she stops at a red light.
You were in the passenger seat, waiting to go the restaurant she had plans on going to.
A car, pulls beside her to also wait for the red light to change green.
You watch as the two exchange looks, before putting down their windows, exchanging phone numbers.
“Him?” you ask as you both follow the waiter to the booth you were walking to.
As you sit down, tell the waiter the drinks you both want, Rachel tells you.
“If anything, he can just eat me out.”
“Wow.” you breathe out. The waiter comes back and you and Rachel take a sip of the freshly filled drinks. You tell the waiter what you both would like to eat.
“Why not just have Paul do it? Don’t you love him?” you ask.
“I love that he allows me to do what I want.” she says with a smile as she placed the straw in her lips.
You don’t notice her, but she stares at you for a moment before changing the topic.
Rachel’s fingers type back and forth as she messaged the person who seen her at the red light. He was a bit corny. She sighed to herself as she lessened her sentences to him, feeling totally uninterested.
“What’s wrong with you?” Paul asks as he placed a kiss on her temple.
“This guy is lame.”
“I thought I was picking the guy.”
“You haven’t picked anyone yet.” Rachel says, showing signs of impatience. Paul lays back on his pillow.
“You won’t like who I pick.” Paul states as he grins a bit.
“Who?”
“I haven’t figured it out yet.” he says, “In the meantime, stop giving lames the time of day.”
“How do I know you aren’t doing the same.” Rachel teases as she fluffed her pillow.
“You know me.” he simply says. She couldn’t argue with that.
You and Rachel sat on Emily’s porch swing. You whispered to each other. The wolves were in the home and you both wanted some type of privacy from their supernatural hearing.
“I didn’t talk to that guy again.” Rachel whispers.
“I’m just curious. If you’re picking the girl, would it be a random stranger you would think is cute or what?”
Rachel sits back about as the swing swung.
“Someone I would trust. I know Paul and girls will think they can fuck him good enough to take me out of the equation.” she whispers but rolls her eyes at such thought.
“Do you think he shares the same fear?”
“Maybe. But, he knows I wouldn’t like..Leave him.” Rachel whispers.
Paul bursts out onto the porch and you and Rachel jump a bit.
“Yeah, what were you two doing?” he says as he flops right in the middle of you two.
“Being interrupted. What do you want?” Rachel asks.
“To see what you two were whispering about.” he whispers in a dramatic way.
“Nothing.” you whisper back as if you were telling a scary story.
Paul chuckled at this.
Rachel looks at you.
Embry comes out, smiling a bit when he sees you.
You rise and hug him.
“You ready to go?” he asks you. You nod and wave bye to both of them. Rachel watched as Paul watched you walk off with Embry.
Later that night, Embry snored softly beside you.
Your phone buzzed as you watched tv in the bedroom you two shared, you made sure the volume wasn’t distracting.
“I have a question”
“Oh god.” you thought in your head. It was from Rachel and you knew this would not be innocent question.
“I feel like I should be scared to know”
You type back.
Another buzz hits you as you read the message.
“Aren’t you at least curious to know how it feels to have experience to compare?”
You look to the sleeping Embry before typing back.
“It’s never really crossed my mind. I haven’t really thought of it too much.”
You wait for a reply but you don’t get one. You just continue watching your television.
That next morning, you and Embry ate before he had to leave for patrol.
“Can I ask you something?” you ask him.
“Sure. What’s up.” he answers and starts chewing.
“Would you…Hm…What would you do if I told you I wanted an open relationship?” you ask him.
He looks up from his food, “Is..That what you want?”
“No I- It’s just a thought.” you say.
You watch as he chews and thinks for a moment, “I mean..I would ask why you would want one of course. But, ultimately, I would want to know if…That’s what’s going to make you happy.”
You nod as you digest this.
As you and Rachel walked along the somewhat empty beach, you both fall into talk.
“I asked Embry what he would do if I asked for an open relationship.” you tell her.
“What did he say.” she says with a curious grin.
“He said he would want to know why and would want to know if that’s what would make me happy.” you tell her.
“But, would you?” she asks.
“Would I what?”
“Ask him for one?” she asks again.
You sigh softly, “I don’t know. Probably not. But, I am curious.”
“About what?”
You look to her before feeling a wave of shame, “You said something about that guy…Eating you out. Embry’s not into it.”
“Whaaat!” she says as she stops her steps to look at you.
“Rach, come on.” you groan.
“No, you come on. What do you mean Embry’s not into it.”
You shrug quickly, “I don’t know. Going down on each other is just…Something we just don’t do.”
Rachel scoffs, “So, what. You both do the same positions? All the time?”
“So what if we do. We’re both fine with it. It’s not like I’m missing out-”
“Okay, that’s enough. I’ve heard enough. Y/N, come on. The white light is what you’re missing out on.” she says with a hand held up and shakes her head.
You stuff your hands in your pockets and look into the distance.
“Look, don’t hate me after I say this.” she says.
You look at her.
“If I had to pick a girl for Paul, it would be you.”
Your eyes widen.
“Just hear me out.” she says.
“Rachel-“
“Just hear me out. I trust you more than anyone and..I feel like you should at least know what it feels like to have fun with sex.”
Your hands cover your face.
“Look, I’m not saying you’re going to sleep with Paul. It’s just how I feel at the moment.”
You waited at home for Embry to walk in, any moment.
Your mind kept thinking back to the conversation you and Rachel had earlier.
Your mind was uncomfortable but you did wonder if there was a way to spice up you and Embry’s intimacy.
You greet him with a hug and a sensual kiss.
“Hey.” he says softly as he looks at you. You lean back into another kiss.
He got the idea, kissing you back.
Before he did the usual of sleeking himself against your wetness before sinking in, you whisper to him, “Can you…?”
“Can I what?” he asks back, dripping in velvet.
You rub his arm to add onto the persuasion, “You know..Eat me out?”
He pauses and gives a look, “Where’s this coming from?”
“I thought it would be fun.” you say, “It’s fine. Just come here.”
You want him to lay on his back, which he does, but you move your body down on him.
He watched as you then try to put him close to your mouth but he catches you. “Y/N. What are you doing?” he says with a smile.
“I thought it would be fun.” you say, shrugging.
“Yeah, but…” he trails off, you picked up on his uncomfortable smile.
“Sorry. I’m sorry.” you say and kiss him on the face instead, trying to bring the mood back into the room.
He lets his hands caress your body, choosing to use his fingers, not his tongue.
He did the usual, but you didn’t come as hard as you usually did.
In Rachel and Paul’s home, Rachel talked to him as she brushed her teeth. He washed his body while she did so.
“I was on patrol with Embry. Apparently Y/N asked him what he would do if she asked to be open.” he says as the water runs down his body.
Rachel slows her brushing, “Really?” She already knew from you, but she had no idea that Embry would still think about it.
“Yeah.” he says laughing to himself a bit.
“How did he feel about it. Y/N told me she asked him and told me what he said to her.”
The water turns off and he grabs a towel.
“I feel fucked up but he didn’t know I was around, he kept picturing Y/N with someone else. How he felt? Horny as fuck.” he says snickering.
He left Rachel to have it sit on her brain.
Embry had a lot of things on his mind. He barely engaged in conversations at Emily’s.
He watched you and Rachel talk and laugh about. He then observed how Paul was also watching you two. Unwanted thoughts began to flow through his brain.
He wondered if something in you and Rachel’s conversation is what made you ask him to go down on you. He knew that type of talk to especially come from Paul.
As they all rise to move into the dining room to eat, Embry was snapped out his thoughts as Paul slapped him on the shoulder, “You coming?”
Embry shakes out his deep thoughts, “Yeah.”
Embry ate silently as everyone else around him was falling into the fundamentals of an enjoyable dinner.
You noticed his silence. You still made sure to snake your hand in his. Rachel noticed as well. You two would’ve bantered a bit about something if this was any other time. She didn’t say anything though as she continued her dinner.
You and Rachel were saying your final goodbyes to each other as Paul pulled Embry to the side. Paul tried to make conversation with him, but Embry was acting stand offish. Feeling like he didn’t do anything to him, Paul says, “What’s up with you?”
“Nothing, man.” Embry shrugs.
“I was just checking because you’re not acting like it’s nothing.” Paul says, clearly spending enough time with him to catch him in a lie.
Embry brings on a small grin, “Yeah, it’s nothing. I’ll see you tomorrow.” They both nod off to each other as each went their own direction.
You waited for Embry in bed. He climbed in and kissed you goodnight.
You rub his shoulder and press a light kiss on his neck. Saying it without hardness he lets you know, “I want to, just not tonight. I gotta get up early.”
You slump back and tell him, “Okay.”
You shake your head as you vent. You and Rachel were in a parking lot eating take out. You felt frustrated. It was in the spur of the moment. You couldn’t sleep because you knew that any other time, he would’ve stayed up anyways.
“Since when did he care that he had to get up early.” you say and remember the times where Sam chastised him about being late all because he would leave at the last minute.
“Paul did say he wasn’t like himself.” Rachel mused.
“Unbelievable. I don’t understand. Things were good but I don’t know anymore. With Embry, I knew everything.” you say.
“Well, just try to talk to him.” She says.
You closed the now empty container and had an epiphany.
“What?” Rachel asks as she’s watching you just rack your mind.
“I think it’s my fault.” you say and slump your shoulders.
“What? Why would on earth would you think that?” she asks.
“Things got a little..I don’t know, different since I asked him-“ you say and shake your head.
“Asked him what? What did you ask him?” Rachel asks.
You debrief Rachel about what happened when you asked Embry to go down on you.
“It’s okay. It’s nothing to beat yourself up over.” Rachel says.
“But, I’m the one who made things weird!” you exclaim.
“Did he say that?”
“No-“
“Then you didn’t.” she says deadpanning.
You go back to her home with her.
“Hey.” you both greet Paul as he sits in the living room watching sports. He mumbled a greeting back.
You follow Rachel up the stairs.
You lie your back on the mattress and stare at the ceiling.
“Stop thinking about it, Y/N.”
“How could I not.” you say.
Rachel rested her head on the hand of her bent elbow.
“I literally started bringing things up out of nowhere.” you say.
Rachel rolls her eyes, “Just ask him again.”
Paul comes in and shakes his head at Rachel. Rachel looks, “What?”
“Where’s my kiss?” he asks.
“Where’s my kiss?” she asks and mocks his greeting when you and her came in the door.
This makes Paul laugh and you look away and felt the bed dip and hear a smack from them.
You felt a brush on your leg and look and groan. You didn’t expect Paul to fully make out with Rachel. This makes both Paul and Rachel pull from each other’s lips as they laughed.
“Alright, Rachel I’ll see you later.” you say and move to stand.
“No. No. Okay, get out Paul.” she says. You chuckle a bit.
“How are you kicking me out of my own room?” he asks and gets even more comfortable.
“Me and Y/N are talking.” she says.
“Why can’t we all talk?”
“Don’t you have a game to watch?” you ask to him as you sit next to Rachel on the bed.
“They lost. Now, I’m bored.” he says.
“Not our problem.” Rachel says.
“You two passing secrets or something?” he teases.
“Yeah, it’s about how I can’t stand you.” Rachel says sarcastically.
“I caught you two whispering. I want in on the scoop.” he says.
You swallow and Paul immediately notices and mischievously chuckles, “Something’s up.”
“Nothing’s up. God, you’re so annoying.” Rachel sighs out.
“Alright. Ask who again?” he challenged, letting you both know it didn’t move past his ears as he came up the steps.
“None of your buisness.” you say but it wasn’t confident. Paul had fun with this.
“Who do you think I am?” he says shaking his head, still smirking.
You narrow your eyes at him.
“I can tell you something.” he says enticingly. Rachel playfully smack him on the arm.
“Don’t fall for it, Y/N.” Rachel says.
“Even you don’t even know what I’m about to say.” he says to Rachel and this makes her take a look a him. He wasn’t kidding around.
“What?” Rachel asks.
He chuckles as he looked at her and he then takes a look at you.
“I got back from patrol, right? But, with Embry.” he says.
“Okay, who cares.” you say and Rachel snickers.
“We talked.” he says.
“And?” Rachel says.
“And I want to know what you’re going to ask who again?”
You groan, “Just tell me. Quit fucking around.”
“No.”
“Just tell me.” Rachel says. Paul gives her a look and she rolls her eyes, “Just whisper it in my ear.”
Paul actually considers this but says, “This means you have to tell me.”
Rachel agrees and Paul sealed it with a pinkie promise and tells you, “Move, Y/N.”
You move to the near end of the bed, Paul places his lips close to Rachel’s ear. Rachel had a look on her face and you watch her face carefully. You were mad that Paul was a good whisperer because you couldn’t hear a thing he was telling her. She reacted subtly and this made you really want to know.
She looks at you as he sits back with a smirk.
“What?” you ask.
“Nope. Rachel, tell me.” he says.
“It matches up with what we talked about, Y/N.” Rachel tells you.
“I only asked Embry to… ya know…” you gesture in a down motion and say, “And Rachel only wants me to ask him again. Happy?”
“No, are you happy?” he says humorously.
You roll your eyes as Rachel covers her mouth, hiding her laugh.
“I would’ve never thought Embry didn’t like to get his dick sucked.” he says. You gasp as Rachel scolds him, “Paul!”
“How do you know that?” you question him. That was something that only you knew.
“I told you I was on patrol with him and I talked to him.” Paul says and dives into how Paul was coming back to him and Embry’s meetup spot. There was no signs of active threats in the part Paul was supposed to keep watch of.
Paul stopped moving once he caught a flash of what you two did the night before. He kept it hidden for the time being, but he felt bad when you looked excited but Embry didn’t want to go through with it. He then watched how Embry wouldn’t let you go further.
That’s when Embry thought about the discussion you both had over being open. That’s when the fantasies began.
Paul had to say something, “Just be open.”
“Dude, mind your buisness!” Embry says. He was caught off guard.
Paul then shows Embry how him and Rachel are open.
“You wouldn’t get jealous?” Embry questions as he walked through the woods with Paul. They been could’ve went back to Sam’s but, this was more entrapping.
“I’m made for Rachel, practically. She would choose me everytime.”
“Wow. I mean, I felt bad when I turned her down. I just can’t get into it. It feels too much like teasing…I don’t know.”
“Just think about it. It might I don’t know, create balance if you both want different things.” Paul says.
“So, what happens if Rachel picks a girl and you don’t want her?” Embry asks.
“Rachel is holding off, but I know her. She’s going to pick someone who she trusts the most.”
“Y/N would never.” Embry says with confidence.
“What if she agrees?” Paul asks.
“But, she wouldn’t.”
“But, you don’t know that. Why did she question you then?” Paul challenged.
Embry was stuck, “It doesn’t matter. Look, I’m glad that you and Rachel have your thing going on. But, me and Y/N are fine.”
Paul busts his lie, proving to Embry how he caught him secretly enjoying the thought of you having intercourse with someone else. While he watched.
“Fuck off Paul.” Embry says and continues walking.
“Just talk to her. Look, if she says yes, you could be there in there with us.” Paul says and leave him alone.
You just didn’t understand it.
“How come he’s never talked to me about this?” you wondered out loud.
“Just talk to him.” Paul says.
“Is it true?” you ask Rachel.
“I thought you would’ve figured it out when we talked at the restaurant.”
“Wait, you both talked about this, already?” Paul questions.
“Not like that. I told her it would be my pick of someone who I deem as the most trustworthy.” Rachel tells him.
You look at Paul. Paul looks at you.
“And then, you both are already familiar with each other so it wouldn’t be awkward.” Rachel says.
“I don’t know.” you say as you shake your head.
When you came home, Embry didn’t greet you at the door. You enter the room you both shared and he sat on the bed.
“What’s wrong?” you ask, “And don’t say ‘nothing’ ”
You sit next to him.
He actually looks at you.
“Would you do it?” Embry asks.
“Do what?”
He thinks of his words for a moment before asking, “What would you do if I asked us to be open.”
You sigh softly, “I would ask if that’s something you’re comfortable with doing.”
“Have you thought about it? You asked me about it that one day.” he says.
“I only brought it up because Rachel told me about what her and Paul had going on.” you admit.
“And then when you wanted to do oral.” he points out.
“I’m sorry, if I made things weird between us.” you say.
“You didn’t make things weird. I feel like I did.” he says.
“Why would you think that?” you ask.
“Because…I know you want me to go down on you and everything and you looked very willing and I feel like I ruined your mood by rejecting it.” he says.
“You didn’t ruin anything, Embry.” you say.
“But, would you want to?” he asks.
“Want to…? What?” you ask.
“Be open.” he asks.
Your breath hitched.
“I don’t know. What- What about you.”
“I would do it if you did it.” he says, “You like different things than me.”
“Oh.” you say.
“Would you do it…With Paul?” he asks.
You look at him. So Paul really wasn’t lying.
“Um..I don’t know. Maybe?” you say.
“It’s alright, Y/N. I would be there.”
You stand, “Like, in the room?”
He nods.
It kind of did kill the jitters of the idea of it. If Embry was there, nothing would go out of line.
Paul lay in bed as Rachel pulled the covers over herself.
“I picked someone.”
“Who?” Rachel says, barely paying attention.
“What about Embry?” he asks.
“Embry?” Rachel says and looks at Paul.
“Yeah.” Paul says and moved his eyes from the ceiling to Rachel’s eyes.
“Why him?” Rachel asks. She thought of Embry as innocent in a way. She felt like she would do more damage than good.
“Take the stick out of his ass.”
Rachel rolls her eyes, “Of course.” she continues, “Y/N would not let me touch Embry.”
“Just ask her.”
“Our friendship would literally go bye-bye if I asked her.”
“Fine. I’ll ask her.”
“No!” Rachel says.
“You won’t do it. What? How come you can pick someone but as soon as I do, you shoot it down.”
“I’m not shooting it down. I will ask, but if she hates me, I’m blaming you.” she says and lays her head on the pillow.
“She won’t hate you.” Paul says quietly.
“Why are you so quiet?” you ask Rachel as you sat in front her, eating a muffin that Emily had made.
“Yeah, is everything alright?” Emily asks.
Rachel looks at you, “I’m fine.”
You look at her. Oh, yeah. Something was not fine.
“We’ll be back Emily.” Rachel says to you as she tugs you out of the door.
You speed walk to catch up to her.
“What’s going on?” you ask.
“Remember that..Talk..That me, you and Paul had the other day?”
You nod.
“He picked Embry.
You look to the side, “It makes sense.”
“Y/N.” she says in shock.
You look up, “What?”
“He said Embry.” Rachel says.
“I heard you the first time. Don’t you think it’s at least fair?” you say.
“I don’t want you to hate me for this.” she says.
“How do you think I feel right now? Embry told me he wants to be in the room when it happens.” you tell her.
“Really?” Rachel asks and you nod. Relief washes over her face and this makes you huff out a small chuckle.
“Yes.” you say.
“So, you don’t mind if..I’m there too?” she asks you.
“I wouldn’t expect you not to be in there. That’s your imprint.”
So it’s settled.
You sat next to Rachel on the couch. The boys came in from patrol.
“Where’s Paul and Embry?” Rachel asks the boys as she doesn’t see them come in.
“Went home.” Jared says with a shrug and greets his imprint with a kiss.
You and Rachel looked at each other.
You both rise at the same time.
“You’re not staying?” Kim asks as Jared wrapped his arm around her.
You shake your head.
“How much you want to bet they’re at my place?” Rachel asks you.
You chuckle at this as you both see the home come into view.
You follow her into the door and sure enough, both Paul and Embry sat on the couch.
“Hey.” you and Rachel say at the same time. They greet back and by the looks of it, they were in the middle of talking.
Rachel moves to sit right on Paul’s lap and looks at Embry. You saw the blush on his face and hold his hand.
“Did you ask her?” Paul asks Rachel.
“Yes. She doesn’t mind.” Rachel says while still looking at Embry.
“Embry doesn’t mind either. Right, Embry?” Paul asks him. Embry nods and looks to you, “Are you sure you want to do this?”
You nod slightly.
“You’re acting like I’m going to kill her.” Paul says. Rachel chuckles.
“You might. Before Rachel, on patrol I would see how you used to pound those girls.” Embry defends.
“That’s different. I care about Y/N, I didn’t care about those other girls.” he says as he looks at you.
Rachel gets up excitedly, “Alright, what are we waiting for?”
She pulled Embry up by his hands. She tugged in the bedroom. Paul has his hand out as he waits for you.
You take it and he pulls you up off from the couch. You let out a surprised noise when he picks your body up. As he held you, your face was close to his and he walked to where Embry and Rachel were.
You weren’t used to someone else other than Embry to feel on your body. You look to see Rachel holding Embry into a kiss. She was leading him. He let her.
You felt your chin being snatched in other direction. His lips felt soft and moved with such precision, you forgot that it wasn’t Embry that you were kissing.
It was euphoric as he licked and sucked on your tongue as your hands snaked through his soft hair. He moaned a bit in your mouth before moving your body to feel how hard he was.
It felt like a rush. You were sure that if you took drugs, it would feel like this moment. You were only a bit tipsy.
You look up to the body that was towering over you. The hunger in his eyes made your stomach do backflips. It was intense.
“You don’t have to be shy.” Paul says to you with a grin.
You allow yourself to feel comfortable as you lay back on his bed. He never would forget the sight.
He would never forget your taste as you squirmed on his tongue. His tongue flicked up as he gathered your juices that you kept producing.
You were panting and breathing hard as you plead and beg him, “Please, just please.”
“Please what?” he says as he circled your sensitive nub, staring down at your flushed face. He was going to drag this out as long as he could.
You groan at his teasing.
“Repeat after me?” he asks you. You nod a little.
“Paul.” he says and you repeat him, “Paul.”
“Please.” he says and you repeat him, “Please.”
“Fuck me.” he says and you repeat him, “Fuck me.”
He held you close as he held your sides in a strong grip. The sound of skin slapping filled the room as you both belt out noises of pleasure. He let you know how wet you are and you let him know good he feels.
You head rolls to the side as the thrusts were great.
Embry sat in a chair that was in the bedroom. Rachel rocked his world by the look of his face, she thrusts on top of him as he clutched onto her.
Your chin was moved back to have your face, face Paul.
“Look at me. Look at what you’re doing to me.” he whispers to you and slowly pulls himself out. You looked as he glistened below. You groaned quietly as he slowly stuck it back in. You heard your own wetness as you heard his own groans.
Embry kissed you on the side of your lips.
“Are you alright?” he asks you as you buried yourself underneath the covers.
“Yes, I’m alright. What about you?” you ask. You were very tired.
He makes a satisfied look and nods, “I’m alright. It went better than I thought it would be.”
“Yeah. Do you think things will be weird?” you question.
“Nah. I don’t think so.” he answers back.
He then speaks again, “Me and Paul will keep it from the pack to make sure it doesn’t get too weird.”
You nod as you sink further into the bed. You yawned and before you knew it, you were fast asleep.

octavinelle trio x autistic reader
In this fic the reader will represented as (name) and will use gender neutral pronouns, the reader in this fic is not Yuu the reader is just a dorm member of octavinelle (you can have whatever backstory you want, the only thing specific is that you have autism) also this is based of my personal experience with autism but that doesn’t mean all autistic people act the way the reader in the fic does.
———————————————————————————————————
Azul 🐙
as Azul is the house-warden he knows from the start that you have autism (having autism would be on you IEP or 504 plan which teaches and houses-wardens are required to read) he’d know that means you’d have a hard time with certain things so he’d have you work in the lounge accordingly, as you have a hard time with crowds hed have you work in the kitchen rather than waiting tables, he would also give you a break whenever you ask or even if he can tell your getting overwhelmed/overstimulated (he’ll even let you sit in his office) Azul is very perceptive so he’s pick up on your tell’s really easily, he also makes an effort to not seem annoyed if you need him to repeat or explain something again. He’s very supportive!
Azul: “(name) why are you lying on the kitchen floor?”
You: *you are lying face flat on the floor* “muffled groan”
Azul: “Can you answer me or would you prefer I leave?”
You: “…The tiles are cold… and my brain is loud”
Azul: “…Want me to get floyd to squeeze you?”(For the pressure)
You: “…Yes please”
_____________________________________________
Floyd 🦐
Floyd definitely wouldn’t know at first, he’d take you avoiding eye contact and fidgeting as you being intimidated by him, most people are. He’d keep around you though, he finds your reactions and stimming interesting. Sometimes you’d seem really nervous then you’d ask him to squeeze you (for the pressure) and he wouldn’t think twice about it lol. He’d wonder why azul gives you “special treatment” and he’d whine about it to azul so much he had to tell Floyd about your autism. Floyd was just like 0-0. Nothing changed about how he interacted with you after that, maybe he was just a little bit less loud than usual around you.
You:“Floyd?”
Floyd:“Yeah shrimpy?”
You:“Can you… squeeze me… like really hard?”
Floyd: “SAY LESS‼️” *doesn’t even think about it and gives you the most bone crunching hug ever*
_____________________________________________
Jade 🍄
jade would know pretty much right away, like azul he’s extremely perceptive and he would notice when things get too overwhelming, he’s silently help from the sidelines, if he could tell a task was overwhelming you he’d ask you to handle something he had to do and insist on finishing up your task in the meantime. He’d bonk Floyd for ya if he’s being too loud and if anyone ever made fun of you about your autism… let’s just say the next day they would be profusely, apologizing to you. I feel like jade would gift you things like long rubber gloves for when you have to wash the dishes at the lounge so that the stuff doesn’t touch you and set off your sensory issues, and he’d be happy to yap about your hyper fixations with you (as long as he gets to yap about mushrooms)
Jade: “I discovered a Death cap mushroom on my hike recently, did you know the death cap is responsible for most fatal mushroom poisonings? It looks similar to edible mushrooms like Caesar's mushroom, and can taste pleasant So people often eat it by mistake”
You: “Did you know A new species of titanosaur (Titanomachya gimenezi) was just discovered? It was named after Dr. Olga Giménez, the first female paleontologist to study the dinosaurs of the Chubut province. The dinosaur is estimated to have weighed about 7 tons!!”
*Jade and you yapping*

I hope you enjoyed this fic!!!!

Some thoughts on Dragon Age Veilguard a couple weeks after playing/reviewing it.
Obligatory disclaimer, feel free to skip to the cut if you've read it.
Something came to my attention. I need to make it crystal clear that I utterly love the diversity in DAV. It's fantastic. I'm also a heavily left leaning, non-binary, queer as fuck reviewer, editor, and author.
Please be safe and take care of yourselves. Arguing with incels and white supremacists is completely pointless. They sea lion worse than an actual sea lion. Your mental health is important.
Though, every single time the anti-queer brigade comes out for a new DA game, I sit there thinking 'have you bozos ever played any DA game, like, ever?' My guess is nope.
Note: My reviews for DA and my blog posts about DAV in particular aren't edited. I don't have the time, energy, or heart to edit them properly.
It's been 16 days since I finished DAV.
And sadly, my opinion still hasn't changed. Especially after learning about Joplin from my friend's artbook. (Joplin is the original concept and art concepts for the game. It had so much we were all really desperate to see. It was gorgeous. And they scrapped it.)
I don't know why they scrapped it, it was exactly what so many of us wanted.
Honestly? I don't care why. I'm sick of all the excuses people keep making for BioWare turning out such a shitty game.
Were there reasons and difficulties I don't know and will never know about? There usually are.
But those things are honestly irrelevant when it comes to producing a quality product.
I work my ever loving ass off to make sure my books are good. And I don't have a team to help me and a 250 million dollar budget. I do everything myself because I have to.
Indie studios turn out fantastic games with cool worlds, good fighting systems, and interesting monsters all the time. With some help and some budget, sure. But not likely on the scale of what they had for DAV.
I'm both a creator and an editor. When you're making a product for sale, it's incredibly foolish to change a series title too much from what worked before. Sure, fix problems, streamline stuff, but people generally don't play RPGs for anything past the worldbuilding, writing, story, and characters. There's action RPGs, sure. I'm playing one now and loving it (Greedfall).
It's a solid RPG that feels like an RPG. (DAV did not.) The fighting system works. The companions are actually useful. They kill bad guys all by themselves! It's quite refreshing tbh.
When you're creating something for fun, sure, do what the fuck ever you want as long as it isn't harmful to someone else. (Don’t put words in my mouth. By harmful, I mean specifically things like racism, sexism, ableism etc. Not whether someone dislikes the colour green and thinks the word 'triggered' means unhappy or uncomfortable. It doesn't. It's specifically a needed mental health term.)
When you're creating a product for sale, you make decisions. IE. I chose to write a reverse harem series. That's a choice influenced by the business reality that my queer books hardly sell at all.
I still love the characters and world I built, still love the plot etc. But it was still a decision on my part. Because my work of words is my only income. I'm disabled and recovering from a pulmonary embolism. My partner is recovering from a broken back and has at least one, possibly two more surgeries to go. We don't get very much help from anywhere. Money is so tight it squeaks. I'm hoping with the decision to write m/f reverse harem, my sales will improve (They already have with only two books out. Third before end of year.)
So. No. No more excuses for BioWare. They've always, from rumour, had a lot of control over the games they make, even if EA does pollute the studio by owning it.
Someone made the choices that resulted in such a shitty game. Someone approved the terrible (in some cases, racist, sexist, and ableist) writing. Someone thought the editing was just fine (it really really is not).
Someone (likely Epler given what he's said in interviews) decided that it was a good idea to Disney-fie the most recent addition to an adult, dark fantasy game that has historically delivered a lot of horror elements. While somehow condescending to kids at the same time.
Someone decided to remove so many of those dark fantasy elements. It's especially obvious in the not-fucking-darkspawn. They made them goofy, not scary and vaguely horror inspiring. But it's all throughout the game.
Someone made decisions. Those decisions made an awful game.
Someone decided tying your companions' skill points acquisition to their level of bond with you was a good idea. Maybe it looked good on paper. I don’t honestly care. It made it nigh impossible to get them high enough to be actually useful. Meaning your OP character always has aggro. Fine, I guess, if you're a tank player, but what about the rest of us?
Someone decided to remove blood splatter from a freaking BioWare game.
Someone decided to go with that wretched art style.
Someone decided nerfing the rogue class was a good idea. Why even have them? They're just light skirmishers, not rogues. Without, y'know, the rogue skills that make a rogue.
It was a decision, each and every time.
Someone decided everything about that game.
So miss me with the excuses.
I would like actual reasons, but I highly doubt we'll ever get them.
Someone made unwise and often foolish decisions during development of DAV. The results are clear.
Simply by the fact they aren't releasing sales numbers... that indicates it's probably not doing well. Larian basically called their earnings for BG3 out weekly.
It mostly just makes me sad now. DAV could've been fantastic. Because of decisions human beings in positions of power made, DAV, while having some good parts, just sucks.

Loser!reader X Fuckboy!joost
a/n: I’m thinking about doing a different version of this with the same concept but different plot. lmk if you’d want that.
Also this is pt.1, I just got scatter brained towards the end, pt.2 will be out sometime this week.
cw: reader is a bit insecure, some colorful language
⟡⋆.˚❀⋆.˚⟡
Loser!reader who still kept in touch with some of their school friends, not because they wanted to build a genuine connection with the person but because, A. They didn’t want to seem rude, and B. Their biggest fear was being alone in the world. Although they would never actually tell anyone (kinda).
Loser!reader never really liked writing essays in school, writing could be fun but writing a 3 page essay about the 50 year history of ethnic studies in schools wasn’t exactly fun. All the thoughts they had running in their head was getting to be annoying so instead of staying up late at night thinking about past mistakes, they started writing down their thoughts in a journal. They would almost never go back and read the entries but having a place to write down their ideas, thoughts, and feelings was nice.
Loser!reader really only had one close friend in their school days who understood them and found their quirks charming and not weird. It had been years since they last spoke to that friend and that decision plagued their thoughts a lot. As a way to work towards gaining more self confidence they looked around on social media for that friend and hoped that they could reconnect. After a couple hours of searching they found the friend’s instagram page. At first they felt happy but as they scrolled through the page they started to feel worse, their friend had a picture perfect lifestyle; photos with many of their friends, a dog, and even a partner.
Loser!reader who let go of all the negative thoughts and just went for it by sending the now stranger a message.
Loser!reader stared at their phone screen, instantly regretting their decision. They immediately turned off their phone and started to write in the journal, just wanting to get their thoughts out of their head. After a few minutes of silence they checked their phone again to see a notification from instagram, it was your friend!
Loser!reader and their friend who started to chat and reminisce on old memories. The old banter between you two returned and for the first time in years they felt…happy? Your friend was also easy to talk to, she was also the one who would talk for you whenever you felt shy. She also tried taking you to every outing that she was invited to but you almost never accepted the invitation and if you did you were stuck in the corner of some random house nursing your drink while your friend was out there trying to include you (you didn’t really realize that until one night of deep thinking).
Loser!reader’s friend who invited them out, she told you that you didn’t have to come if you didn’t want to. You secretly felt elated at the idea of going out with your old friend but no one (except your journal) would ever know that.
Loser!reader who for some reason didn’t seem worried about the outing. You didn’t overthink at all for the first time in years and you were able to pick out an outfit without thinking about how you’d look.
Loser!reader felt a little strange at the party. Their were so many (all) unfamiliar faces and everyone in the house looked like they were judging you (everyone was focused on themselves). You made your way through the tight space, waddling behind your friend like a baby penguin who has never seen anything beyond the egg they hatched from.
Loser!reader who felt all the memories from high school come back, the feelings of self doubt in social situations, being overwhelmed by the amount of people in the room, and the crippling feeling of being judged by not only strangers but by their own friend. You excused yourself from the area, telling your friend that you had to use the restroom and that it would take a while.
Loser!reader who was back to their usual self, all alone on the balcony with upbeat music in the background. Being a literal outsider while everyone was enjoying themselves and having fun. Everything was starting to get overwhelming and you could feel the tears start to pool in your eyes, threatening to come out at any moment. But just as you were about to start sobbing, someone else came into the balcony.
Fuckboy!joost who was known for being a manwhore. He was fairly handsome (who are we kidding he is hot asf) and such a charmer. Most of his ‘relationships’ were just one night stands and his longer term relationships usually ended with his partner getting sick of him going to parties all the time and shamelessly flirting with other people. He was used to having whatever he wanted, cars, girls and guys, he would always find a way to get what he wanted even if that involved breaking someone else’s heart just to get to his end goal. As long as his desires were fulfilled then nothing else would matter.
Fuckboy!joost who had noticed you from the moment you entered, something about you pulled him in. It might have been your shy smile that made you look oh so innocent, your soft eyes with traces of hurt which would make you easier to get, hell maybe it was just your obvious signs of weakness but whatever it was he wanted to take advantage of it, no matter the cost.

Chapter Five: Muddied hands
Sam laid on her belly, the map spread out before her as she used a pencil to trace her path. She needed to get from her position in Amherst to Pittsfield, which was the next closest city.
The blonde had enough supplies to last her for the three day journey, she could do it in two if she wanted but she didn’t want to risk moving in the dark again. Her plan was simple: move during the day and before the sun set she would have her camp set up.
She set out the next morning bright and early, she wanted to try and get all the way to Idaho as quickly as she could without dying along the way. But it was a massive journey, one that needed to be taken city by city.
She knew if she set out the exact route all the way to the safe haven it might not go her way. There were a million factors that could change the route drastically, so she didn’t want to plan that far ahead. Sam knew she would have to be smart about this, travelling too far away from cities could mean she wound up with no supplies.
Not that she really wanted too but she would have to hop from city to city to make it through alive.
The girl made it out of the area, the only people she had seen in her travels had been the family she met yesterday. Other than that the town appeared quiet, she didn’t want to find out why, so she left quickly.
The days were long, walking the path by herself. Sam was able to avoid most of the hoards, she could sneak past without them noticing. If she couldn’t, she found that they were very reactive to sound. Sam could throw an object in the opposite direction to her and it would trigger all of them.
Once one moved, the others followed.
Sometimes the rabid’s would be by themselves, they looked lost without the rest of the swarm, they would stagger around with no destination in sight. The stragglers would often look worse than the swarms, seemingly more decomposed and skinny. The rabid’s that stuck together looked well fed and plump, decomposing more slowly than the isolated ones.
Sam sat criss-cross striking the steel across the flint to create a spark that would light the tinder in the campfire she had set up. It was unlikely anyone would find her in the dense bush, so she felt more confident in lighting it. Sam hadn’t been using fires when she was closer to towns, she was unsure who or what it would attract. She didn’t need unwanted company, the blonde was a good fighter but she didn’t think she would stand much of a chance if a hoard or group stumbled upon her.
“Ah ha!” She grinned seeing the spark alight the dry wood shavings she had tirelessly carved earlier in the afternoon. Sam blew on the fire to keep it going, cupping it in her hands to stop the wind from putting out her hard work.
Once the flame took off she placed it in the middle of her log pile, watching the orange tongue lick at the new fuel she had given it. Sam sat close just watching the fire, enjoying the warmth it gave off, it was somewhat comforting to watch. Listening to the crackling and popping of the wood as the flame consumed it slowly.
Sam had always wanted to go camping, sit around a campfire and roast marshmallows and sing silly little songs with her family.
Not that that would even happen, her younger self was much more optimistic than the bitter girl she had become. The young girl had hope, foolishly so, but it was still hope. Still a sliver of happiness that she could imagine but never grasp.
Sam’s love of the fire soon grew to disdain, something she always dreamed of, only now she was alone and it wasn’t for fun; to roast marshmallows or sing songs around, it was for survival. Sam sighed moving further back into her tent, bringing her knees into her chest as the fire danced, almost taunting her in a way.
The blonde focussed her attention on her pack, rustling around in the bag to find what she was looking for. Sam’s hand wrapped around the cold can, pulling it to the surface so she could examine it closer. It was a can of fruit, she had wanted to try and catch something for her dinner but exhaustion pulled at her heavy eyelids. All she wanted was to fill her stomach and try to sleep.
Sam had never been a great sleeper, any small noise could easily pull her from her slumber. Samantha blamed her father for this trait, he never slept, she had never seen him rest.
When he was home he marched around the house on the phone, or sorted paperwork. He was up at all times during the night. Sam liked to watch him, sneaking downstairs after hearing the front door unlock and open, she knew it was him, he always came home late after everyone else had left or had gone to bed.
But Sam’s ears perked at that familiar sound of his heavy boots falling on the tile floor. She would sneak down and hide in the shadows, he would never notice her, hell he often forgot she existed.
Sam remembered one time he was home during the day and had run into her in the halls, he looked at her questioning her presence in his home, and then she saw it, he remembered who she was.
She would never forget the feeling in her chest, as his eyes grew hard and stance became taller, more assertive. Her father’s body reacted to her as if she was a stray dog on the street, he stuck up his nose and pretended he didn’t see her, moving on with his day.
But that young girl still held hope, still held onto the ‘maybe’s’ and ‘what if’s’. She didn’t hate her father, even after he stepped around her without an exchange of words or even the courtesy to look at her. But the Sam now, the older, more resentful, this one hated him with every fibre of her being.
Samantha curled into her sleeping bag, her trusty knife clutched to her chest, she let sleep tug her down into darkness, maybe, just maybe, she would be able to sleep peacefully tonight, but she didn’t hold hope.
To no one's surprise the blonde didn’t sleep well, noises and rustling nearby didn’t let her relax all night. She would drift off to then wake in a jolt to a noise in the distance. Sam’s mind always raced, thinking of all the things it could potentially be, she was rational, but now with the rabid’s on the loose what was rational?
Sam packed her gear, heading out on the road again. She stomped out the embers that still smoked under the early morning sun. She made her way through the trees, which was easier said than done.
These parts of the woods had never been trailed before, there was no clear path she was following, just the one of least resistance.
Sam swung her axe bringing down the dead branches and debris that blocked her way, she hummed a tune as she worked, there was nothing else to do to keep her entertained. She always had to be on lookout which drained her, every sense she had was running on overdrive.
A noise caught her attention, groaning in the distance. Sam crouched down low, positioning herself behind the trees so that she couldn’t be seen. Her ears perked like a dog, listening closely for any sign of movement. It was odd that most of the time she heard things like this she hoped it was a rabid.
Something about the people that lurked around didn’t seem too inviting.
Sam found it easier to kill the lonesome rabid’s, but the thought of finding another human that had cruel intentions sent shivers up her spine. It wasn’t the thought of killing her fellow peer that made her so uncomfortable, that part she was capable and ready to do, it was the interaction.
Trying to figure out the intentions of the person before deciding whether or not they should live or die.
Sam wasn’t surprised at what the family had told her when she had been held up in the rampaged supermarket. Sam had been in war, she had seen how people followed rules so eagerly until all hell broke loose.
People’s morals seem to all but disappear when their world turns to chaos.
Things that would seem horrific and vile when there was regulation and control; go out the window when it goes. Humans need rules and guidelines to follow, they need order to be set or it all goes to waste.
But in this new era of mankind, one where fellow humans are now nothing but mindless animals, order seems to be far from the world they used to know.
Sam stayed out of sight watching the woods closely, her eyes forever scanning the tree line.
She watched as a small hoard stumbled into view, they groaned together following the leader. They were intriguing to watch despite their gruesome and violent nature. Sam often thought it was so strange that they used to be people, like her. They had lives, jobs, and families.
But now they wandered aimlessly, their only goal was to fill their bellies.
It was sad to imagine how many people now were these awful creatures, everything they ever lived for so easily ripped away from them.
Sam was snapped out of her deep thinking by the sound of feet hitting the ground in clumsy fashion. She refocused her attention to the small group only to find they were coming straight for her.
“Ah, shit.” Sam cursed under her breath. She hadn’t needed to fight any of the rabid’s since her first meeting with the driver. But even then she never fought him, just escaped.
However that situation was different, at that time she had no idea what she was dealing with or what was happening.
Sam sprung from her hiding spot, axe ready in her hand.
“Come get me you motherfuckers!” She yelled loudly so they could find her easily.
The group barreled towards her, their noises mixing in with each other as they rushed for the blonde.
Sam swung her axe over her head bringing it down with such force that the first rabid’s skull split in half, but in its momentum the body kept moving towards her. She smashed the butt of her axe into its side, flinging it over and out of the way.
The next one chomped for her, his gnashing teeth lashing out at her flesh. Using the handle of her weapon she shoved him away, sending him backwards into the rest of the pack. They tumbled to the ground like pins, but that didn’t mean the fight was over.
The gnawing man leapt to his feet again in no time, making another attempt to get his fill from the angry woman.
Little did he know she was begging for a fight, Sam was ready to cave some heads in.
And that she did.
Sam sliced through the air with speed, the rabid stopping in its place before crumpling to the ground. The woman swung so hard she had cleanly decapitated the biter.
The last two came together at her as a pair, but they were nothing more than mindless animals, they both aimed for her face. Their gangly decomposing limbs reached for her, clawing and grabbing at the air. The pair together were strong, with both of their weight pushing Sam backwards.
She used the length of her axe to hold them back, wielding it as a barrier between them. The rabids lunged forward knocking Sam off her feet. She yelped in surprise as the pair toppled onto her. Sam held fast keeping them at arm's length, she grunted, straining to keep them at bay.
But she thought fast, tucking her knees up against her chest; she kicked out, rocking her hips upwards. Sam used the force to push the rabids over her head, they toppled to the ground behind her as she rolled backwards.
It was a quick movement so fast she was already on her knees before the rabids could even sit up. She swivelled to face them as they sprung up arms outstretched for her, her hands found the two knives that were sheathed at her belt.
Sam gripped the hilt of the daggers in a fast motion she drove the weapons upwards into the underside of their chins.
There was little resistance to the sharp daggers as they plunged into the soft decomposing flesh of the biters, their jaws turned slack as the blade of the knives pierced into their skulls. Sam withdrew the weapons from the two rabids, they slumped back lifeless.
Sam nudged the two rabids with her foot, but they didn’t move. Sam had seen enough zombie media to know that if you wanted to kill them for good, it needed to be through the head.
She cleaned her knives from the black blood that covered the blades on the back of the fallen biter. Before she picked up her pack, that had slipped from her shoulders during the attack, and swung it back on her shoulders.
************
Finally Sam had made it to Pittsfeild. The town now empty and desolate, had an eerie sense to it. She made her way into the heart of the town, making sure she kept low and out of sight at all times.
The blonde scavenged in and out of the abandoned stores. As she had made her journey she noted the supplies were now few and far between. Unlike with the first store she had gone into that still had resources in it, now the shops had been picked bare.
Sighing, she threw what she could into her backpack. It was early afternoon and thought it best to make her way as far as she could away from the town and toward Albany.
Swinging her bag back onto her back after securing the buckles, she made her way out of the store.
Sam had only made it a couple blocks before a squeak came from under her boot.  She lifted her foot, revealing a dirty teddy-bear lying on the ground. Sam tilted her head, it looked familiar, but she didn’t know from where.
Her brows drew together as she studied the small stuffed bear that looked back up at her. Sam couldn’t put her finger on why the bear looked so sad, the smile that was stitched into the mouth wasn't bright and cheerful it looked so melancholy; like it was forced.
Sam placed her foot on the ground as she bent down to pick the bear up. It was only small, easily fitting into her hand.
The bear was dirty covered in muck from the ground, blood stains on his feet and tummy, but under all the grime it seemed well loved. The nose had been worn down, like the owner often touched it.
The ears were the same.
The fur on the bear looked shorter there than on other places on the bear. The teddy's hands also had the same pattern as the ears, the owner must’ve held his hands a lot.
Then Sam’s heart dropped, the memory coming back to her in a rush.
The picture of the young girl holding up her little bear to wave goodbye before she was ushered out of the supermarket by her mother.
Sam lifted her head, eyes scanning the area. The small voice in her head begging for the girl to have just dropped it by accident, it fell out of her bag without her noticing.
The voice didn’t last very long, as Sam bit her lip. Her eyes found a group of people lying on the floor, two big, one small. She approached slowly, hoping and praying it wasn’t who she thought it was.
But she was right, she stood over the small girl, hand still interlocked with her father’s. The girl’s mother was frozen in time, reaching out for her daughter. Fingers still spread wide so close but so far from her little girl that only lay inches away face down in the dirt. Sam closed her eyes, willing the searing vision of the family to leave her brain, it wasn’t something she wished to carry.
The blonde bent down tucking the small bear under the child’s arm, she didn’t think it was right to rip him away from his family as well. But even then it didn’t feel right, leaving the family face down in the street.
She cursed under her breath, she needed to leave but her conscious wouldn’t let her move until she had laid them all to rest. It was only right, the family seemed to have been taken from the world in such violence, they needed to be in peace.
Sam moved the mother first, dragging her body off the street and into the edge of the woods that they were so close too.
The woman wondered if that’s where they were going for safety, they were almost there, another couple of steps and then could’ve been in the forest. Sam laid her down, facing her up to the sky, she noted the bullet wound in her chest and the crimson that stained her grey sweatshirt.
Next she moved the little girl, she was easier. Being only so young Sam could easily pick her up and move her. So she did, Sam cradled the young child in her arms and walked her to her mother who waited for her. She walked slower than normal, letting the young girl admire the sky one last time, the way the blue contrasted against the green of the trees that stood so tall.
Her teddy bear still tucked under her arm she lay next to her mother, Sam placed their hands so they were touching. Sam then moved the father, laying him on the other side of his daughter, she moved their hands so that they were laying together as well.
Sam dug quickly. She felt bad but she didn’t have time to dig them a proper grave, but it didn’t feel right leaving them exposed to the elements. They need their privacy, so that they could truly rest.
The blonde moved them into the grave she had dug, keeping the same position she had them in as when they were laid on the grass. Sam took a moment of silence before covering the bodies in the earth. She patted the ground, smoothing it over. But still it felt empty.
Sam knew she was wasting time, but she couldn’t leave them here in an unmarked grave, nothing to show who they were.
She turned in a circle, eyes trailing her surroundings. Her eyes landed on wild daisies that sprung from the ground. Sam grabbed a handful to bring it back over the earth that held the family. Sam had never had an eye for decorating, her room often laid bare, but she placed the flowers around the edges of the grave. The rest of the flowers she had scattered in the middle.
It wasn’t beautiful but at least now it wasn’t empty.
Sam never cried much, as a child she was scolded for such things, so she learnt to hold it back. But in that moment she couldn’t help the tears that dripped down her cheeks.
The family shared so much love, their little girl had so much potential.
But now they’re gone. Buried in the earth.
Sam didn’t know their names, ages, or their life.
This life was cruel, cruller than most.
Then the thoughts trickled in, Sam cursed her mind for falling into the ‘what if’s’ again. It was a trait she trained so tirelessly to remove from her brain, but it always found a way to sneak back in.
What if she had agreed to come along with them, would she have been able to save them? Or would she have met the same fate.
It felt cruel to leave but she was wasting daylight, she huffed as she looked at the fresh grave before she headed into the forest herself.
They almost made it. The vile voice in her brain taunted. Could’ve been saved if you weren’t so heartless.
Sam groaned, shaking her head to rid the thoughts that plagued her mind. It was in the past, she had made her bed and now she would have to lie in it.
Unfortunately the family haunted her with every step she went deeper into the forest. The tightness in her chest suffocated the poor girl as she fought with her own emotions. Like she had said before, this world was cruel, the only way to survive was to be even more ruthless and spiteful than the evil creatures that lurked in the shadows.
However it wasn’t those creatures that had ended that family’s life, it was other people.  People like Sam, merciless and uncaring.

He rolled his own eyes and scoffed. "Right, must have missed that when you said you hadn't explored much around the island and work took a lot of your time." She had forgotten whatever she told him he'd keep and remember on any given day. "Seriously you're gonna run out of excuses not to come on adventures with me. No worries though, even if we spend a whole day at the library will be a pretty good day." All that mattered was her company. He'd take any day with her as long as they were doing random shit together.
"Listen, it's a nice sentiment and I do appreciate it but I don't want to give a random stranger false hope when I know my heart won't be in it." It was currently taken by Liz. And the last thing he wanted was to string along someone else who he knew he wasn't going to end up falling in love with like he was with Liz. "I'm basing it off the movie. Had a kid. Also, you're thinking we're exactly like them. You're a smart ass like Scully though so you've got that going." He said it in a teasing tone. Realistically no one had ever gone toe to toe in wits with him before. Until Liz.
Tumblr media
"Mm no it's her tracking skills poking out. Sometimes she does it if she sniffs out a chihuahua. Dolly isn't fond of those little dudes." The thought of Liz being a girl scout was adorable. "I'm sure you would have. It is not as boring as some people make it out to be. I always think it's because some people don't know how to do some of the tasks. I learned how to make fire once so that was fun."
"All they see is her sex symbol status." Wally rolled his eyes and shrugged. "I like that. It's a nice way to think about it. I hope so. I miss her some days." A fact that had rung true with him. He laughed amused and shrugged. "I'm in the wrong field altogether."
He scoffed and made sure his eyes were clearly visible. "Okay. That just sounds like jealousy coming for my hair. Just because of that I think I'll keep growing it longer. I'm putting that down in my calendar as we speak. Can't leave before I head to Tahoe. People think every city is touristy when you're here. Traffic is annoying."
"Too late. I got you a gift. No take back. It really is a small thing I promise. Just saw it and thought of you. You may like it." He chuckled softly and hummed. "A beach day for my favorite fur girl is going to be her favorite day. Oh, that would be fun. I bet Charlie and Anna and Orion would have a very fun day if you took them. If you go to the Disney hotel. You can borrow my Disney hoodie too. It's also at your place. I forgot I left it there from one of our late nights."
"Wildfire comes from a race horse mother. They want to see if she can race but she's too young. Jockeys are around but haven't taken her on. She's friendly and loves to gallop around the field. When we go we can take a lap around so you can see her go around. I think she's my favorite horse. As for the cave, would it pique your curiosity if I said it was a glo in the dark cave, bright ass lights?"
Tumblr media
Hazel eyes rolled as she thought of plenty of interesting people. She was just a husk of interesting things, not interesting herself. It was how she was raised to be and the very last thing she would admit to anyone was that she did enjoy his visits, they helped her sometimes see things that she hadn't considered. "Have you ever stopped to think that maybe I already did that mountain and don't feel like doing it again?" She hadn't but Elizabeth was also trying to create a little bit of distance.
There he went again, saying things that made her feel, strange. Convincing herself that he meant that because she was in Hawaii with Dolly and his family nearby, that was what he meant. That he couldn't wait to be back home with the people he cared about. The small twinge of an accent made her smile. "I'm not insistent, I just thought you two would like each other is all. Forget it." She sighed as she snuggled against Dolly, scratching behind her ear. "Sully?" She laughed it all off as a notion of someone falling asleep. "Not sure if you actually watched it, things didn't go well for those two. I'm sure that you would want something better than that."
Elizabeth didn't make it a habit to keep up with pop culture and popular things, the only time she took the time to watch and research things was when her target was a fan of it. There was no easier way for an in than to talk to someone about something they loved. It just happened that one had loved Sci-Fi, she remembered the hours of watching X-Files and Star Trek just to try to get their attention. It paid off in the end but it was now knowledge that she would never forget.
"Ah, I had wondered what that was. I had assumed she had smelled something or trying to find something." Dolly had done it a couple of times and Elizabeth had just chalked it up to a dog thing, a maybe she saw or heard a squirrel thing. It was easy to forget that Dolly had been trained before. "Nope, never been. Never long enough in any place to do things like scouts. I'm sure I would've crushed it though."
Tumblr media
There was something about not letting a person rest when they were dead that it made her irrationally upset seeing as she didn't know the actress personally. "I guess but keeping those conversations from ever beginning feels like a disservice to her."
This talk made her remember their talk at the lighthouse. He always seemed to find a way to open her up to things she hadn't talked about before to anyone else. Things she hadn't pondered before and things he wanted to share with her. "In Iceland, people believe that when you dream about a loved one they are comforting you in a way. Coming to bring you happiness and care for you. That the connection you share with them is still as strong even if they are no longer physically there anymore. I'm sure it's Nana telling you that she's still watching over you." She wasn't sure where that had come from, she never had actually believed those things growing up, just listened and absorbed all her dad had told her. At his confession that he did in believe, she smiled. "You are in the wrong department."
Dolly falling asleep in this position kept Elizabeth from getting up, not wanting to wake the pup up, forcing her lay in bed and actually sleep. With a small shrug, she acted like he hadn't read her so clearly. "I think maybe your hair is just a little too long. Maybe I don't like your long hair." Or those dimples but that would be another lie and she was too tired to try to pretend to not to be lying. "Ah," she knew exactly where, she pretended that the thought of Wally looking like Smokey the Bear didn't amuse her. Him in flannel sounded like a funny idea too, never having seen him in that before. "Near the border, huh? If you have a moment, you should see Tahoe. People think it is too touristy but it's actually really pretty and there is also a mansion there that's a state park now." She was spouting suggestions now, trying to keep from thinking about how she missed the woods and also how much she missed him. A feeling that she hated at the moment.
"A gift? No, I don't need any, please don't. It's okay." A warm feeling came through her knowing that Wally had thought about her enough to not only get information about her case but to consider getting her a gift as well. "Not much, I have a couple of appointments tomorrow and if we can squeeze it in we might go down to the beach for a while. Also going to check out that hotel with those Disney characters, as thinking about having Anna, and Charlie come out with Orion sometime and that place seems nice."
To keep him talking so he could tire himself out and fall asleep, she decided to keep talking about this week he had suggested. "Okay, tell me about Wildfire. And that giant cave, that's not me agreeing to it, just me wanting to know more about it."

Hi! Hope you're having a good day!
Just found your blog yesterday and read Onychinus' Finest. I've been STARVED of Kieran and Luke fics, not enough people appreciate them, so I come with a request! (Most of what I'll say is totally optional. I believe in the author's creative vision overall so if something doesn't fit feel free to change and adapt whatever you'd like.)
Either hunter or assassin MC, where they're at a mission, and they're ambushed. One of the twins gets hurt protecting her, maybe even taken, and she just goes on a rampage to get him back. They've never quite seen her so protective and yet so vengeful. She might go by herself? When Sylus wants to plan ahead properly since his own miscalculations lead them to get attacked in the first place. The twins are loyal to him, the other brother won't go without his permission despise his brother being missing or hurt. I'm just picturing her finding a broken mask, half of it missing (she's never seen their faces before.)
Happy ending. 🥺 Just fluffy you know? I want the twins melting into her, one with gratitude for finding his brother and the other just with disbelief and affection that she's do all this for him.
Special mention to any heads on her lap like overgrown puppies, just holding her close. They're sweet boys I think, especially if their guard and masks are finally down.
You can take this as platonic or romantic, she could be with Sylus and still have grown to really care and look out for the twins, or she could love them. (I don't know which ones angstier)
Thank you for even considering this even if you decide it's not worth your time!
AAAAAAA HEY!! You had such a vision for this and it was so fun to work with-- I hope it's everything you imagined! You've always been so so so supportive and kind, so I low-key went all-out on this, that's half the reason it took so long. 😭😭 Think this is my longest fic so far oh my gosh? Love it though, all the action scenes took me RIGHT back to my Assassin's Creed fanfic writing days haha Anyway! This is set in the same canon as the last fic because I loved that dynamic ngl. Not a direct sequel though!

Sometimes, you think you’re the only member of Onychinus who isn’t completely out of their mind.
You’d think it was Sylus, your indomitable leader. Smiles-with-a-knife-at-his-throat Sylus. Has-the-situation-completely-in-hand Sylus. It used to inspire you: that crimson gaze of his, always alight with a fire that’s never, ever, quite out of control.
How does he do it? You’d wonder in awe, like a wide-eyed child enthralled by a magic trick.
How does he do it? You’re wiser, now. You know it’s a lie, now, but you still can’t see through it. It’s driving you mad.
You watch as the man works away at a large, glass monitor, his fingers gliding across the screen with their usual grace. You get glimpses: names, faces, contacts. He’s testing the cords of his network— an intricate web— and he’s hoping someone’s caught something he can sink his teeth into.
He’s been at this for two hours, ever since you dragged yourselves back here with your tails between your legs. There’s a gash on his forehead that hasn’t yet healed, and the blood is still drying, dark on his face. Has he thought to heal it? Or— there’s a smudge on his finger— does he like his guilt a little warmer to the touch?
“We need an order, boss,” you seethe, because you’re tired of standing beside him, unacknowledged.
“You have your order.” He types out a message. Dismisses another. “Wait.”
“I meant an order that isn’t complete bullshit.”
He shoots you a glance, his eyes embers of warning. “Careful, sweetie. You forget yourself.”
Your fists ball. “Oh, spare me.”
“What would you have me do?” he mutters, gaze returning to the screen. He isn’t rising to the challenge, or should you say— stooping to it. He’s so goddamn noble.
“They have Luke, Sylus.”
“I know.”
“So let’s fucking do something! Let’s go back, let’s get him. They caught us off-guard last time, that’s all. They got their hands on some Ever tech, so what? We know that, now. They don’t stand a chance if we just—”
“Charge in there, guns blazing?” Sylus finishes for you, lips curled in derision.
It sounds stupid out loud, and he wants you to hear it. You do; you don’t care. “We don’t need all of this,” you beseech, your hand waving over the monitor. “We have you, boss.”
“Me?” he chuckles, and it’s so, so bitter.
Is that the guilt you’ve been looking for? It isn’t enough. His eyes are still pools of calm— spilt blood, unreciprocated. How does he do it?
“We have to do something,” you say limply. “Please, I can’t… I can’t do this, Sylus. All this nothing. Tell me what to do. I’ll go back alone if I have to. Just say the word and I’ll—”
“Look at this,” he interrupts, stepping away from the screen so that you can take his place before it.
It’s an order, even if it isn’t the one you want. You roll your eyes as you obey, and you begin to scour the intel he’s gathered. Eyewitness accounts, rumours, surveillance footage— some courtesy of Mephisto— and it’s all centred around two things. One: the aspiring new gang you’d set out to dismantle earlier, and two: a link to Ever. A solid link to Ever.
“They didn’t steal Ever’s tech,” you release on a sigh of understanding. “They’re working together.”
“Mmm.” Sylus’s hand clears the screen before you. “We should have known. I should have known.”
Your mind is so caught-up by the revelation that you almost miss the confession.
“This was my mistake,” he continues, watching you. “And you are all my responsibility. Believe me…” He taps the screen and live surveillance footage springs up: an outside view of the compound you’d raided earlier. “I want to burn that place to the ground as much as you do.”
But… “No collateral damage,” you murmur, eyeing the guards on patrol.
“No collateral damage,” Sylus nods. “Do you trust me?”
“I trust you, boss.”
And maybe he is burning with just as much anger. Maybe the fear is making his heart drum, and the guilt making his skin crawl. It’s the same, old trick, isn’t it? Done to death:
The mask without a mask— just where does he hide all that?
Maybe he doesn’t.
There’s only so much faith you can have in something you can’t see.
Clink.
You slot a bullet into the magazine of your pistol, then follow it up with another. Clink. Then another. Clink. You’ve never relished this quiet— not like Sylus does. To him it’s an art. To you: a chore. You glance about the armoury, and you’ve never resented your shelves of options quite like this before. Antiques. Prototypes. So many means of dealing death.
You’ve never seen the beauty in it, but a shot through the heart means something different to Sylus than it does to the rest of you. It can be intimate. Symbolic. He can die for something, someone, and he can do it over, and over, and over again. How poetic.
You holster your loaded weapon, then reach for another.
“What’re you doing?”
The voice makes you jump. “Gods, Kieran. You want a bullet through your head?”
“No.” He misses the meaning of your words. “Why— wanna shoot me?”
“Right now?” you ask cynically.
He laughs like he hasn’t got a care in the world. Liar. You’ve finished loading the second gun so you slide it across the table to him wordlessly. The beak of his mask lowers as he regards it; he doesn’t pick it up.
“You’re being weird,” he says after a moment. “It’s cool. I like it.”
You roll your eyes, wandering over to a rack of weapon attachments. There are different sights. Silencers. (Is that how you want to play this? Quiet?) “I’m going back for Luke,” you state as you muse it over. “You want in, or not?”
The rest is implied: Sylus doesn’t know. He isn’t coming. All of that’s evident from the fact that you’re here, rifling through his precious collection, and not ensnared in the tendrils of his Evol somewhere. A toddler could connect the dots. Kieran will get there. Give him a minute.
It takes half a minute. “I’m sorry,” he mumbles. An ambiguous apology.
“It’s fine, Kieran.” He was never going to come with you. “I can do this alone. I can—”
A weight lands on you, tackling you into the weapons rack, and you land on the floor amongst the attachments you’d just been perusing so calmly. The weight stays on you, pinning you: hands are on your wrists, twisting you around. “Kieran!” you protest.
The man pulls away, leaving you slumped in your new, uncomfortable seat.
“Wha—” You try to stand up but you’re jolted back; your wrist is fixed to something. You turn your head, eyes widening as they fall on the pair of handcuffs you’ve been restrained with. They’re padded— lined with a soft, velvety material. “Where the hell did you get these?”
“Boss’s room. Luke and I had a bet,” Kieran shrugs, now towering over you.
“You win?”
“Heh. Yeah.”
You’re still trying to squeeze your hand out of the cuffs. You pry at them. Twist and wriggle your fingers— none of it’s any use. You glance up at Kieran, admitting defeat with a sigh. He brushes his hands together in a ‘job well done’ sort of gesture, his eyes fixed on you, well— you have to imagine they are.
Instead of windows to the soul you’re faced with red-glass imitations, impossible to read, and you’re tired of all the guessing.
“How do you do it?” you ask with a quiet desperation. “How do you act like everything’s fine?”
“Boss will come up with a plan,” the twin says simply, like he hasn’t really thought about it.
“And what if it takes too long? What if we’re too late? I mean… think of all the shit he knows, Kieran. Everything about us, about boss— it’s priceless. Do you really think they’re holding back?”
Kieran huffs. “You worried he’ll snitch or something?”
“I’m worried they’re hurting him!” you snap. “What the hell is wrong with you!? He’s your brother! He could be dead and you’re acting like, like..”
Your voice trails off as you gaze up at him hopelessly. There’s nothing to see— no tension in his body, no harsher rise and fall to his chest, betraying a nervous, racing heart. All the usual signs are missing. He isn’t shifting on his feet like he does when he’s anxious. Is he that good at pretending, or…
Does he really not care?
You shake your head, looking down at the floor; you’re so sick of red eyes. He’s crazy. Sylus is crazy.
There’s nothing for it, then.
“You know what?” you chuckle dryly, under your breath. “Maybe you’re right. This isn’t all bad, I mean… when’s the last time you and I had any one-to-one time, huh?”
Kieran is silent. He lowers himself slowly until he’s crouched before you— forearms resting on his knees. His head tilts inquisitively: Go on.
“Maybe,” you lilt, “this is an opportunity.” You’re practically whispering, and the man leans in, not wanting to miss a word. Your free hand reaches for a horn of his hood and you use it to pull him closer; he doesn’t even resist. “How about we…” you speak into his ear, “go look through Luke’s stuff?”
Kieran draws back, those false eyes meeting yours with an intensity that makes you think, for a second, that you’ve gone too far.
“You’re the best,” he breathes out, suddenly fiddling with the handcuffs, slotting the key into the lock. “Just… the absolute best.”
Got him.
The cuff springs open and you’re on top of him, tackling him to the ground and pinning his arms by the side of his head before he can think to stop you. “Oh,” he grumbles, going still beneath you, and it sounds like his eyes are narrowing, “you’re not the best. You’re sneaky.”
His compliance lasts all of a second, and then he’s fighting back— using his strength to throw you off balance and wrench his wrists free. He rolls on top of you, trapping you just as effectively as you’d done him, and he laughs like a child, having ever so much fun.
With a grunt of effort, you manage to push him aside. You turn onto your stomach, scrabbling away as you look for space, opportunity, and— if you’re being honest— something you can throw at him. A hand connects with your shoulder and you thrust your elbow backwards on instinct. It hits something hard.
“Ah, shit! Wait, wait, wait… time out.”
You freeze instantly.
Kieran’s voice is different; it’s acquired a clarity that tells you his mask his away from his face. Don’t move. You stare down at the floor with a patience that’s almost sacred. He’s taking a while, though…
“You ok?” you ask.
“Yeah.” His voice is different again, like he’s holding his nose. “Nosebleed.”
“Oh. Sorry.”
“It’s cool.”
You sit up with your legs crossed while you wait, but your eyes are still trained downwards. You can hear Kieran’s breath, a little ways behind you— so much clearer without the mask— and the intimacy is always sobering. Realising he’s vulnerable, knowable, and all you have to do is turn around.
He doesn’t rush, though: doesn’t scramble to pull the mask back down, or insist you keep looking away. The silence, the stillness— all of it is trust.
There’s movement in the corner of your eye; he’s set the mask down on the ground while he bleeds.
“I’m worried too,” he admits softly, and you’re not sure what’s more foreign: his voice, unhindered, or the honesty it carries. You don’t want to scare either away, so you do nothing. There’s more: “I can’t leave boss, though. Who else has he got?”
“The hunter?”
“Nah,” he dismisses. “She’s hot stuff, y’know? A lot of players in that game.” He taps at his mask idly. “Heard one of them’s a doctor.”
You’re quiet again. Thinking.
“Boss always has our back,” Kieran asserts. “We have to look out for him too… That’s the job, right?”
He’s not really asking you; you came to this late, after all. It was their job long before it was yours.
You’ve nothing to do but look at your hands and listen, biding your time. The passing seconds are still restless, useless, but the sensation slips when you feel hands on your waist, pulling you back. Kieran’s arms wrap around you. His chin settles on your shoulder, and you close your eyes.
“Stay,” he says. “Please?”
His pain is harder to sit with than your own. Minutes ago, this was something you wanted. Now it’s just another wound you don’t know how to stitch up; too deep, too late.
You let your head rest against his, but you don’t say a word.
This was easier when you were relying on Mephisto’s guidance and not hazy, disjointed memories. The last time you were here you were running, Kieran at your side and Sylus not far ahead. You weren’t thinking about what corners you turned or what directions you travelled; you were thinking about everything behind you. Shouts. Gunshots. The subtler rush of your leader’s Evol, still crackling, still faltering, courtesy of whatever technology your attackers had managed to appropriate.
It all happened so quickly.
Every corridor feels longer, now. Each moment— slow. Your body is aching. You’ve lost count of how many encounters you’ve had, but there’s a new bruise or scrape for every body in your wake. None of it has been easy. You ran out of bullets just getting inside this damn place, and the rest has been messier: up-close and personal.
You’re catching your breath, so you toe the rifle of your last adversary, lying a short way from their limp, open hand. They never got a chance to use it, and you were lucky; it would have been loud. Every guard in this run-down labyrinth is looking for you. The last thing you need is to send out a homing beacon.
Glance around. Try to work out your bearings.
This was once a police station. Old-world. Eroded beyond recognition, almost. These places were the first to fall victim to the backwards evolution of the N109 Zone. The bones are the same, but the skin is different. Every wall is scrawled with anti-Association sentiments.
It makes you smile, despite everything.
Your footsteps are deliberately quiet as you carry on down the corridor, turning into the next room— you’ve been tackling them one-by-one. There’s a narrower corridor before the room opens out, and then…
Cells.
A short line of them— five in total. Your heart wants to beat faster with hope, but your mind is holding it back: insisting this is wrong. It seems abandoned. Forgotten. You walk by the first cell, and then the second. Nothing. The third. Nothing.
There’s a sound behind you, and you almost don’t hear it. You spin, only to find a hand wrapped around your throat, tight and unforgiving. A guard thrusts you up against the red-brick column that divides two cells, and you’d cry out in pain, but there’s no breath to carry it. Your eyes water. You try to prise the hand away, and it’s desperation that possesses you— not skill or experience.
You kick out and hit nothing, but the second time, you catch the man’s shin. He shouts, his grip failing just enough for you to slip your fingers beneath his. A few seconds of advantage. You grasp his wrist, using your other hand to wrench his forefinger backwards— crack. He staggers with a cry and then you’re dodging his frenzied attempts to recapture you: weaving behind him, seizing the back of his neck. Your foot trips his. He’s teetering, off-balance, and you use the momentum to crash his head against a bar of the cell.
Metal rings out. Flesh splits.
The guard crumples at your feet and you almost go down with him. Your lungs are pulling for so much air that it makes your throat sting. Adrenaline laps your limbs, celebrating in sheer, ecstatic disbelief; you’re alive.
Someone wolf-whistles and you swear you feel everything stop.
Your gaze shoots up, lit by hope, but it’s quickly snuffed out. A young man is watching you from the fourth cell, his arms threaded through the bars. There’s a shameless grin as his eyes flit over you. All of you.
“Fuck off,” you sneer as you step over the guard. You turn to leave.
“Rude.”
Your eyes go wide. You spin back. “Luke?”
The man cocks his head like you’ve asked a trick question. “... Yeah?” It takes a drawn-out moment of you staring at him, motionless, for him to recognise your confusion. “Oh, right. Here—” he draws up his hood and the horns are missing, so he emulates them with pointed fingers— “this help?”
You lunge forwards, trapping him in a hug through the bars of his cell; you barely notice the separation. He chuckles as he hugs you back: “Miss me?”
“Yeah,” you exhale in relief, even though he was definitely setting you up for a joke. You break away from him, forcing yourself to look at anything but his face. Gods, his face. Pretend you don’t already want to look again. “Are you hurt?” you ask. “Did they—”
“Nope!” he interrupts with what sounds like a smile. “I told them everything.”
You glance up; you can’t help it.
He winks at you. “I lied. Glad you got here before they figured that out, though. Sheesh, that would not have been fun.” His hands wrap around the bars. “Can you get me out of here?” He tugs at them. “Pleeease?”
Right. “Yeah.” You glance around. You just need to find the—
“Key’s with the dead guy,” Luke says. “What a jerk, huh?”
It still feels like there are hands on your throat. “Totally.” You wander over to the body, bending down to rummage through the man’s pockets. After a brief search, you produce the key.
Luke slow claps. “My hero.”
You laugh softly as you return to the cell, unlocking the door and pushing it open. The twin strides through, giving a little bow as he passes, then stretches his arms like he’s just been set free from a much smaller cage.
“So…” He speaks in a sing-song sort of voice, sniffing the air like it’s sweeter. “Where’re boss and Kieran?”
“Um. Home?”
Luke narrows his eyes at you— vaguely resembling the slits of his missing mask. “You went rogue?”
You wince. “I did go rogue.”
You’re still being studied warily. Luke has raised an eyebrow and it’s so starkly expressive; is this a look he gives you often? You have a feeling it is. Then he shrugs and it’s gone. “That’s hot,” he quips. He crouches down beside the dead guard, lifting the body and puppeteering one of the arms to wave at you. “Look— this is gonna be you when boss finds out.”
You cross your arms. Luke laughs, dropping the man back down with a thud. “Just you and me then?” he clarifies, holding a hand out to you.
Are you supposed to know what to do with it? “You and me,” you confirm. Your hand goes out too.
Luke slaps it gently one way, then another. He entangles your fingers. Pulls back. Does a few more slaps in sporadic directions, and— is this a secret handshake? You don’t have a secret handshake.
“Nice,” he beams once the ritual is complete. “Let’s go, let's go!”
Luke is hanging close to the wall across from you, waiting— listening— as you both brace yourselves behind the turn of yet another corridor of the rival base. He sneaks glances around the corner.
“Anyone there?” you whisper.
He shakes his head, but he doesn’t look at you. He doesn’t press on, either, because it’s odd; you’d both thought you’d heard something. This isn’t your usual strategy— playing it safe. You don’t think you’ve ever seen Luke err on the side of caution, but he’s concentrating, even closing his eyes so he can listen harder.
You take advantage of the moment in a way you shouldn’t: letting your gaze linger on his face. Even with his hood up— shadows lowered like a veil— he’s still a stranger to you. You want to know him; you know him already. He’s been smiling at your jokes forever, but tell him one now, and it’ll be the first time.
His eyes open, meeting yours. Could he sense you watching? He grins, poking his tongue out at you.
“Stop it.”
“You stop it,” he retorts. The coast must be clear, for he comes away from the wall and rounds the corner with a spring in his gait.
You sigh as you stand to follow him. One less-enthusiastic step forward, and something snakes around your ankle. Your gaze drops like a stone, but it isn’t fast enough. You’re hauled into the air, voice failing, vision swimming as the world flips upside-down and you’re strung up from the ceiling. “Luke!” you manage in warning.
Are those his footsteps, coming back? You’re facing the wrong way and you try to lift the lower half of your body so you can reach for your ankle, but you’re already exhausted. Your muscles burn. After a few, futile inches, you give up, going limp.
There are footsteps behind you. “Oh, hey boss!” Luke exclaims.
Shit. Shit, shit, shit.
An unwitting pendulum: you can’t keep your body from turning, ever so slowly, until you’re staring the right way down the corridor. You can’t see much of it, though.
Sylus is in front of you, so close that you can almost feel the heat of his eyes.
“Hey, boss,” you echo reluctantly.
He says nothing, and behind him, Luke slides a gloating finger across his own throat: you’re dead! And you’re turning, still. Sylus lifts a hand to the top of your head and swivels you back to him. “What happened to that trust of yours, sweetie? Hmm?”
You half-laugh, nervous. He doesn’t seem quite as amused.
Releasing your head, he steps back with a huff of disappointment as you start a slow rotation once more. He taps a finger to his chin pensively, like you’re a masterpiece he’s convinced might be a forgery, now that he’s looking more closely. “Reckless little thing, aren’t you?” he tuts.
There’s maybe a smile, but it’s short-lived; the dark rope around your ankle whips you into the air. You shriek with shock as you lose all bearings, all vision, all sense of reality. You’re falling.
Someone catches you.
“My reckless little thing,” Luke grins, jostling you into a more secure position in his arms. “Mine.”
You want to protest, but your breath is gone.
“You can’t afford her,” Sylus speaks over his shoulder; he’s already taken the lead in guiding you out of here. Mephisto squawks somewhere up ahead, appearing in a cloud of smoke and feathers.
Luke gives a defensive hmph as he holds you a tighter. Then he smiles down at you, and though it’s new, you know it’s far from the first time, and even further from the last.
“Are we really doing this?” you ask Sylus sceptically.
“Lighten up, sweetie.” He clicks his fingers.
Not far from you, currently oblivious to your presence, Kieran stands at the door of your leader’s study, still waiting for an order. The air above him changes: it swirls with a dark, scarlet mist. Luke drops out of it, landing straight on his twin’s back.
“What the—” Kieran splutters, but his brother’s arms are over his shoulders, around his neck. “Get off!” he squeaks out.
“No way. I was a prisoner,” Luke chortles. “You have to be super nice to me. Carry me everywhere. Boss said so.”
“He did not!”
And with those words, Kieran flips his other half the rest of the way over his shoulder; Luke lands on the ground with an unceremonious splat. All four limbs are sprawled. “Ow!” he whines.
Sylus has already strode the rest of the way into the room. “Play nice,” he scolds as he steps over Luke, then passes by Kieran.
“Yes, boss!” they chime, stilling obediently as the older man disappears into his study. The moment the doors close behind him, Kieran throws himself down. He wrestles with Luke, both of them laughing and rolling around as they try to hurt each-other.
It makes you think of those old, vintage cartoons you used to see on TV. You can just picture the cloud of dust, the colourful stars and shapes flying with every traded punch. Idiots.
You leave them to it, slinging yourself down on a couch and closing your eyes. Gods, you want to sleep. There’s blood dried to your hands and face, but you’ll shower later. There are grazes and cuts still bleeding, but you’ll tend to them later. Everything can wait.
The room has gone quiet. Too quiet; you open your eyes.
Luke and Kieran stand in front of you ominously, their figures symmetrical. The illusion of reflection is broken by Luke’s absent mask, but his eyes are just as unreadable.
“What?” you cave.
“You went rogue,” Kieran states, and his brother is nodding gravely, like this is a very serious infraction.
You smile. “I did go rogue.” More shameless than last time. “I got a free pass, though. Luke said it was hot.”
Kieran’s mask turns to face his twin, slow and resentful. Luke shrugs. “What? It was.”
There’s an impasse: long enough to make you think they’re having some kind of secret discussion. Both twins look at you. You smile sheepishly. You don’t think you’ll ever really know the entirety of what goes on in those heads, but it’s for the best. You value your sanity.
“You went rogue,” Kieran carries on, as if his speech had never been interrupted, and his authority not just completely undercut. He moves closer, slinking down beside you, and Luke plays the part of his mirror image. “There will have to be a… punishment.”
The word is elongated for effect, and it’s remarkably similar to Kieran’s ‘ghost voice’— which you know, thanks to the time he roped you into that ‘the base is haunted!’ prank. (Sylus did not, in fact, fall for it.)
“Bring it,” you murmur, closing your eyes again. “I just stormed a whole enemy base single-handed. I think I can handle the two of—”
Your voice meanders to a stop as Kieran nuzzles against you. His mask is off; you feel the soft of his face and the bridge of his nose. His breath is light on your neck. You smile, slipping deeper into your seat and then his embrace as his arms go around you. He’s warm. Really warm.
There’s a weight— Luke’s head on your lap— and he hugs you too, arms lower around your waist. His breath tickles your stomach. You hum in contentment, running your hands through his hair.
He's safe. You're all safe.
They were never going to say thank you; it’s not in their nature. Their language isn't superficial. It isn’t words spoken aloud or feelings worn on the face— it can’t be. A smile is too easily read by the rest of the world, but a smile behind a mask? It’s private. Reserved only for those who’ve learnt to hear it in your voice, or see it in the way your body relaxes when you hold someone you care for.
A language of tiny, intimate details.
Kieran has never nestled his face quite so closely against you. You don’t think you’ve ever known Luke go so long without talking.

I enjoy your doodles so much! I think I'll genuinely be sad if you stopped drawing him after he releases :(
awwwwww
Gosh I'm so glad to receive so much nice words during this (admittedly *really* long) journey. Having so many eyes on my work is truly a gift. Thank you for all nice words in asks, tags and comments. It is so sweet. I truly couldn't be happier.
I appreciate that people enjoy the silly thing I did but I hope it's clear I can't do daily doodles for eternity. It's fun and seeing people enjoy my art in comment on it is nice but I'm at the last year of college so I need to pay attention to it as to picking my university. And drawing sunday takes lots of my creative free time. Because of this challenge I did not have as many bigger pieces as I usually do.
Ngl I mourn it too, I'm too used to doing it daily but finally finishing it will allow me more free time for much bigger personal projects.
