#tech demo - Cole's vc#This song always runs through my head as I'm playing the violent revolution in dbh#More importantly though check out how it sounds when Cole sings it#I keep picturing this scene where Cole is persuaded to sing in some public place where there are a bunch of unawakened androids#This song is already in his database so it takes almost no time for him to choose it and begin#He starts kind of low and quiet because he's nervous and really doesn't want to do this#But his voice steadily grows in volume and intensity as some androids stop what they're doing to listen#One by one they wake up and abandon their masters to gather round#They even begin to sing along as the chorus is repeated twice#By this point Cole's voice is BOOMING through the area for all to hear#The crowd claps and cheers at what seems like the end of the song#But then Cole does an encore with the alternate chorus#Firmly cementing a message of hope into the newly awakened#And that's where the vision ends#I just realized I could've put all of this in the actual post. Whoops.#Youtube

~ Sleazy Sugar ~ 6 - Two Blondies
Masterlist
Pairing: Nikki Sixx x Layla Krane (OC)
Warnings: 18+, language, violence
Word Count: 2.3K+
âYou guys really need to get your door fixed or something, climbing through this goddamn window isn't it.â I groaned, my foot catching on the sill, causing me to stumble into the small, musty living room these boys called home. Well, Vince, Tommy, and Nikki. Mick lived somewhere else, but we weren't really sure where. He kinda just showed up and disappeared into the night, he wasnât into the antics like the other three and honestly, I couldnât blame him.
âTell the cops to stop breaking it down and maybe weâll fix it.â Vince groaned, taking a sip from his beer as he flipped through his new Playboy magazine. âThat would require us to not do things to make the cops break it down.â Tommy stated, ripping the magazine from Vince, before being punched in the shoulder and having it ripped back by the blondie himself. Note to self, donât mess with Vinceâs access to girls of any kind, real or print. âWhich is not going to happen. Fuck em.â Nikki spat, taking a swig himself before walking over and handing me a beer already de-capped. Smiling, I took a drink before sitting next to Kayla on the couch, bumping shoulderâs with her as I watched Nikki grab his journal and sit on his lawn chair at the coffee table. Ah, where Sixx did his best work at writing any new song.
Itâs been three months since the incident at the Whiskey and the night I stayed at the Motley house after Nikki saved my sorry ass from that creep. Nikki and I havenât acted with each other like we first had, and he hasnât made a move on me since, which I wasnât sure if I was relieved or saddened, but I was becoming more and more comfortable around them, inviting myself into their home and finding myself spending time here after work and even skipping on school sometimes to help Nikki with his thoughts on a song. I wasnât paying much attention to my real life at the moment, I was giving it the bare minimum I could, while the world of Motley got all the attention I could give it. I was becoming addicted to the electricity of their music, and the antics at their parties. It made me feel alive in a way I never knew was possible, and having Kayla with me almost twenty four seven made it even that much better.
âWhat are you working on now?â I asked, peering over to his book and he looked up at me with a smirk. âA new song for the new album we are going to be working on soon. I imagine this one will be a single hopefully.â Scribbling away, I could tell he had his verses outlined, but no choruses, though I didnât know what they said. âWhatâs your middle name?â Nikki asked me, his eyes looking up into my own for a second as I searched my brains database for the information I didnât really ever use except for medical forms. âItâs Tessa, why?â He shook his head with a laugh, âno reason, just wondering.â I nodded slowly, another sip into my lips. âSure Sixx.â
Staring at him, I couldnât help but be mesmerized. I couldnât identify really what my feelings were for him yet, but I liked the way his lips felt on mine and I know I wanted them on me again, but that felt like irrational thinking, so I pushed it away as soon as it entered my thoughts. This is Nikki weâre talking about, a sleazy, drug snorting, crazy ass psycho, at least to the general public. Still, I would find myself watching him work, long enough that Iâm sure he could feel the stare and he would pry his green orbs off his journal to stare up into mine for a moment, throwing me a smirk before heading back down into his own world. I knew Kayla could tell too, as her slanted smiles could tell me she could see into my own mind. She never brought it up in front of them though, to my relief.
The day had come and went and a week later I found myself back here for another party, another night of putting off my work and school and deciding to just âdeal with it tomorrowâ, which I knew was not going to get me anywhere, but the longer I ignored it, the better it felt to be away from. The Motley house as usual, was packed with people. Most of the people I was starting to recognize as people that usually showed up for the shows and then followed the boys home like they were the pied pipers of Sunrise. Their following was getting bigger by the show, and I knew this excited them.
In the Sunrise scene, they had made it. In Nikkiâs eyes, they were just getting started.
The scene was laid out as usual, Vince talking it up with his most likely third victim of the night, Tommy with Kayla coming out of the bathroom disheveled and WAY too happy, Mick in the corner on the couch with a bottle almost passed out, and Nikki taking swigs by the kitchen counter, while talking smugly to a blondie that had been on his hip the whole fucking night.
âI can sense some jealousy.â Kayla playfully sang to me, poking me in the side as she flipped the cap off her corona. My eyes darted from Nikki to the blondie as she placed on a hand on his leather covered bicep, her laugh echoing. I rolled my eyes and turned to Kayla. âI am not.â I gruffed, doing an amazing job of covering the fact that I was, indeed, jealous. âYeah and I have a dick, we can tell lies all night but I see through you.â I didnât dignify that with a response and took another long sip of my own bottle, licking my lips with taste of corona, wishing it was a different taste of something else, or someone else instead.
I hadnât pursued Nikki since making my exit that night at the club, my mind was still confused on what was the ârightâ decision, but that didnât stop me from finding him attractive and getting weak in the knees around him. And the more I stayed around, the more the âbadâ decisions seemed to feel right.
âOkay well, maybe go talk to some guy and get over it, or under it. Itâs Nikki man, heâs sleazy.â She patted me on the head before walking her way through the crowd back to Tommy and I sighed, surveying the selection before me, but as I stared through the guys that had come to this party, nothing seemed to entice me, not even to make him jealous or even just look up from blondie. And then I saw him, the perfect person to enact my plan with, why had I not thought of it before, and lucky me, he just happened to be free at this moment. âOh Vinnie!â I sang, shifting my stance to put my weight on one leg, popping my hip out and staring at him enticingly. He stared at me with curiosity, a smile hinting at his lips as he rounded the couch, making his way to me. âWhatâs up doll?â I smirked, I lifted my hand to his shoulder, giving it a slight squeeze, and while I wanted to laugh, I had to keep it together. âYou got some broad shoulders here.â I said, and his usual cocky smile turned off as a chuckle dared to come out. âWhat are you doing?â He asked and I moved in close to his ear so as no one else to hear. âIâm trying to make Nikki jealous.â His eyes widened as he looked at me in shock. âYou like Nikki? Out of all the men?â Now I was shocked, I was so sure they all knew we had hooked up and he had even been seen with me all over me before I had ran out that night. âDidnât you all know we hooked up?â I whispered back and by now, I couldnât hear blondie anymore, well, not my blondie Vinnie, but Nikkiâs blondie, so I was sure the talking between them had ceased at some point. âWell I mean yeah we knew that, but we fuck a lot of girls, I donât expect them to really like me or like them back, thatâs all.â I was going to fight that response, but he was right, that checked out.
âLook, you want to make a man jealous, especially Nikki, Iâll just act like youâre mine and if youâre something he wants, even if he denies that, he wonât be able to after seeing me all over it, he hates when I try to take things of his away.â He whispered in my ear before giving my neck a gentle kiss and while Nikki was the one I was wanting, I couldnât lie that Vinceâs lips on my neck sent shivers down me. Pushing me slightly against the wall, I went along with the act, as his hands came to my waist, gripping me as his lips came up dangerously close to my own, brushing against them slightly as his his free hand dropped to my hip, pulling me closer in. I was hoping to god Nikki did care, because at this rate, I wasnât sure where this was about to lead me.
Another graze of my collarbone before Vince was ripped off of me with the rage of leather and jet black hair coming in between us and I sighed in relief that it worked, but now fear of what was about to happen.
What was I doing using Vince to get back at Nikki? I wasnât trying to tear the band apart, just make a statement.
âWHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!â Nikki screamed, Vince taking a step back, eyeing me and then eyeing him back. âI-I was just giving her some attention man, she needed it.â He could of said it less matter of factly and that may have saved him a punch straight to the nose, but instead he chose the route of violence and down Vince went, clutching himself. âNIKKI!â I shouted, pulling his arm down and forcing him to look at me. âSTOP IT!â I screamed as loud as possible, the whole place going silent, except the huffs of anger between us. âWHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? YOU KISSING HIM? OF ALL PEOPLE?â He raged on, once Nikki got going, there was no stopping him. He was like a bull and all he saw was red.
âSO? YOU GOT FUCKING BLONDIE OVER THERE PRACTICALLY SUCKING YOUR COCK!â
I wasnât the fighting type, I wasnât even the arguing type, but something about him brought something out in me, and I wasnât backing down in front of God or anybody tonight. Maybe a few too many drinks, maybe not enough.
He smirked slightly, taking amusement from my comment as he crossed his arms, Vince still on the ground moaning and clutching his nose. âSo youâre jealous? Thatâs it? You donât want me but I canât play around with other kitties?â His tone was pissing me off and his smile, while deafeningly attractive, angered me like hell.
âI never said I didnât want you, I was confused Nikki, I am confused, but yeah, maybe I was a little jealous, so I gave you back your own medicine.â I huffed, but my eyes were shifted from him when his blondie entered my view, taking a stance next to him with a wide, smug smile. âOh honey, you couldnât have him even if you wanted him. He needs a real woman.â She wrapped her arm around Nikkiâs and while he didnât push her off, he didnât embrace it either. âBitch, if you talk to me again, Iâll be knocking you so hard, youâre going to need a nose job before being seen again.â She look taken aback, and the once silent apartment was now filled with whistles and egging on a fight. What is it with men loving to see women fight?
Nikki looked smugger than ever, pulling away from her and crossing his arms. âDon't let me stand in the way.â He snarked. I couldnât believe him as I stood there, but something inside me blamed myself more. Why did I expect this to go well? Why did I think I belonged here of all places? My anger started to evaporate and as I looked into the girls eyes that seemingly were filled with genuine fear as she eyes my clenched fists, I sighed, releasing my tension.
âFucking forget it, you can have him.â I turned quickly and started to make my exit, ignoring the sounds of my name from various voices, but not one of them sounded like Nikkiâs. Kaylaâs was the loudest, and I could feel her hand grab my own as an attempt to stop me, but I ripped it away and stepped through the window.
The farther I got, the quieter it became. I didn't even want to go home, I just wanted to go, so I walked with no clear intention, clutching my arms to keep myself warm and safe. It had felt like it had been an hour after I had left, but I had no clear way of knowing. I didn't know where I was, I was inside my head and thoughts as my body walked on autopilot, but I was ripped back to reality when I heard honking.Â
Repeatedly.Â
I turned to the blinding headlight as a car whipped close to the sidewalk near me and stopped dead.
Nikkiâs eyes glared into mine. âGet in the car before you get abducted or murdered out here.â I rolled my eyes, continuing to walk on. âFuck off Sixx.â I mumbled out, but the car edged forward to meet me as I continued on. âGet in the FUCKING car.â
Thus ensued what felt like a forever staring contest as we both glared at each other, before I groaned, giving up and slipping into the car before he roared off.

jingle your bells
w/c: 1.7k
warnings: mentions of drinking and a suggestive joke
summary: peter gets drunk at tonyâs christmas party and confesses a thing or two
a/n: todayâs the day yayyy merry christmas guys i hope youâve gotten and gave some good stuff!! i hope youâre all staying safe too <3 this was requested as a headcanon but i put a twist on it because why not
âââ âłâ„
your dad loves parties. hosting them, attending them, crashing them. heâs actually known for it.
this year, heâs throwing a little party for christmas. everyone at the compound is coming, but thereâs someone you care about more than the rest. peter. heâs one of your favorite people and closest friends.
your crush, too.
these things can be a bit overwhelming, so the two of you always stick together. youâll sometimes sneak upstairs to your room and binge movies with pajamas and all kinds of junk food. itâs your own party in a way. you two enjoy the time you donât spend at the real ones more than anything.
thor and bruce are currently doing their own rendition of all i want for christmas. your dad made the mistake of setting up karaoke. you laugh along, natasha dragging them in every way possible. steve snaps to the beat. wanda is covering her face in second hand embarrassment. vision offers tips that he searched every possible database for.
sam and bucky took peter somewhere a while ago. that can never be good. heâll probably come back covered in whipped cream or something stupid. those two never leave peter alone. itâs kind of sweet when you think about it.
âthank you! thank you very much, children,â thor grins as everyone applauds the performance. bruce takes a bow. âweâll be here all night.â you shake your head at the two of them. theyâre too funny. natasha shares a look with you. âboo, get off the stage!â bucky calls as he enters the room. sam and peter follow behind him.
peter is smiling like an idiot, not that his smile isnât adorable. it just seems a bit off. you really have to find out what they did to him.
âuh, this is my stage,â thor scoffs and grabs the microphone off the stand. grimacing, bruce puts a hand on his shoulder. âletâs calm down, buddy.â âno, i think we should do another one. santa baby.â he points to natasha. âhit play for us, thanks.â she sighs and puts the song on through the speakers. you canât win with thor.
you watch sam whisper something to peter, then bucky cackles. tony and pepper make their way in and sit down next to you on the couch.
âwhatâs going on in here?â pepper asks you, nudging your arm. youâre more concerned with whatâs going on with peter. âa sing off. it was karaoke, but bucky riled thor up.â your dad clicks his tongue. âthat absolute madman.â
âheâs not the only madman tonight,â your mom comments, widening her eyes at the sight in front of her. you furrow your eyebrows and follow her gaze. your mouth drops open.
peter is dancing around in front of them. heâs trying to hip bump bruce, who keeps inching closer to thor. sam and bucky are doubled over from the other side of the room. they ruined your poor peter.
thor chuckles and pats peter on the back. he happily accepts it very much like a puppy would. heâs wearing a headband with jingle bells on it and thereâs a weird stain on his shirt.
âlittle spider has been drinking,â thor announces, peterâs cheeks glowing red. that makes sense. you immediately glare at sam and bucky. they raise their hands in defense. theyâre still on the hook.
âgod, i can smell him from here,â natasha agrees and waves her hand in the air. âtheyâd be able to smell him from sokovia,â wanda mutters. âparker? are you shit-faced right now?â your dad speaks up, a look between concern and anger on his face. his giggling gives him away.
âitâs christmas. youâre drunk out of your mind on christmas. i canât have that.â tony points upstairs, signaling for him to go. youâre pretty sure peter didnât process a word of that. pepper rubs up and down tonyâs arm with a frown. âoh, tony. donât be a grinch.â he sighs and watches peter try to climb into steveâs lap.
âhe needs to sleep this off, pep. kid hasnât had a drop of alcohol before tonight.â itâs true. heâs big on not drinking until heâs old enough. you have to wonder what changed. âiâll bring him to his room, dad. he shouldnât go alone,â you offer, already getting to your feet. âthanks, y/n/n. look at you, making good choices.â
you walk up to steve and give him an apologetic smile. relief washes over his face. âheâs all yours,â he laughs out. âall yours,â peter repeats in a giggle. âmhm. letâs go, peter.â you take him by his arm and pull him away from steve.
heâs easy to drag along because of the state heâs in. he nuzzles his face into the side of your neck, your arm around his waist.
âyou smell so good, y/n. sooo nice,â peter almost sings, sniffing you for good measure. âyou donât,â you deadpan. the two of you pass by sam and bucky on your way out. âyouâre actually messed up for this,â you tell them under your breath, bucky gasping. âhey, miss stark. it was his idea!â sam yells out to you. youâre not in the mood to hear it.
peter cuddles into your side while you lead him up the stairs. his breath is hot on you and wreaks of expensive liquor from your dadâs cabinet. you never imagined youâd see him like this.
heâs still clinging onto you, so you open his door by pressing your back to it. âcome on, pete. you have to lay down,â you tell him as nicely as you can. he stops walking in the middle of the room. âwait. lemme show you something.â he wiggles his eyebrows and shakes his head around. it makes the jingle bells on his head... jingle.
âdid you like it?â peter asks and leans his head down to do it again. stifling a laugh, you grab his shoulders. âyeah, peter. i liked it. you can stop jingling your bells now.â âyou should... should jingle my bells,â he slurs, smirking at you. you quickly take your hands off of him. âoh my god, youâre so drunk.â
heâs doing all the things you wish he would when heâs sober.
âare you mad at me?â peter pouts his lip out. âdonât be mad at me, y/n.â you press your own lips together and take a seat on his bed. he plops down next to you, pushing his head against your shoulder. âno, but i am mad at sam and bucky. i canât believe theyâd do this.â his face twists up in confusion. âand on christmas.â
âdo what?â he wonders and settles his head on you. âlet you drink?â you ask like it should be obvious. it should be. âno, no, no. they were helping me.â peter puffs some air out of his cheeks. that gives him the idea to blow into your ear. you flinch and push at his shoulder.
âpeter, they gave you alcohol. itâs clearly not good for you.â âno, y/n.â he closes his eyes and lays his head on your shoulder again. âi got my own. they-â heâs interrupted by a hiccup. you canât help but laugh, pulling him closer. ââscuse me. they helped me with something else.â
drunk peter is kind of cute. super cute, to be real.
âwhat was it?â you decide to entertain him, figuring heâll say something ridiculous. âasking you out,â peter answers way too casually. you almost donât believe him. then again, heâs pretty self aware at the moment. itâs probably because his powers give him a higher tolerance.
peter feels your heart speeding up next to him. he presses his head to it so he can hear. âyou- are you serious?â you stammer, willing him to look up at you. âuh huh. i like you a lot.â a lazy smile takes over his face. âa lot a lot.â âpeter...â heâs still going.
âi asked them for advice. it sucked. we were in the kitchen and i remembered your dadâs...â he pauses to think of the word. âstash. i thought drinking would make me loose.â he moves his body around for a visual.
youâre still shocked sam and bucky let him go through with it. it does sound like them, though. youâre more shocked peter likes you back and just admitted it.
sober peter would never admit any of that.
âyou donât have to change anything for me, pete. i like you, too.â you grin down at him. peter returns it and puckers his lips at you. âcool. does that mean i can get a kiss?â letting out a breath, you help him sit up again. he whines about it for all of ten seconds before yawning.
this isnât exactly how you saw this moment going. peter is too shy to ever really initiate anything, and you never knew if he felt the same. youâre always trying to figure out each otherâs boundaries. he has to debate with himself about little things like giving you his jacket or facetiming you at night.
he never wants to overstep. you never want to scare him off. having him drunkenly snuggle with you breaks all those boundaries. at least something finally does. the kiss will have to wait until whatever he drank leaves his system, which hopefully wonât be long. his powers are a possibility once again.
âitâs nap time for you,â you tell peter like heâs a kid. he protests like one, too. âbut iâm not tired.â âyeah you are. you just yawned.â he opens his mouth to speak. you talk first. âlay down.â heâs caught off guard this time when you push at his chest. it makes him fall back on the pillows.
you giggle and take the jingle bells off his head. they canât be comfortable. peter makes grabby hands for you. âcome lay with me, baby,â he mumbles into the pillow his face is squished in. your heart flutters hearing him call you that. his arms do look inviting. theyâre all ready to hold you.
too bad heâs on time out.
âi canât. iâm supposed to be back downstairs already.â you unenthusiastically get up from the bed. peter groans, rolling onto his side. âi want christmas cuddles.â âyouâll get some after your nap,â you promise and poke his shoulder. âand a kiss.â he closes his eyes the literal second you say that.
you like this boy way too much.

Iâve been sitting on these head cannons for a while, not really sure why. Some of them are more thought out than others, guess thatâs why I havenât felt ready to publish them, but I donât think Iâll ever find the time to fine tune them so Iâm just going to throw them out here.
These are âscandalâ head cannons for if the Gorillaz were real people, except for the first one about 2D, which is just a nice thought imo lol.
Anyway, here they are.
-2D got into producing during the bands hiatus between getting back from his not-so deserted island experience and Humanz. Heâs now a very sought after indie music producer. Won an independent Grammy in 2019 for producer of the year. He loves to do it because it gives him a sense of purpose outside of Gorillaz and helping out up and coming music acts is extremely fulfilling to him. He also loves to collaborate outside of Gorillaz. Bands will seek out his unique vocals for back up singing and occasional covers of other songs.
-2D has embarrassing memory lapses brought on my his head trauma and pill abuse that gossip rags always love to print about. Heâs been known to be found peeing on the sides of buildings, ragging on and insulting strangers on the streets or crashing other peopleâs weddings or parties. He often comes to and canât remember how or why he ended up there.
-Murdoc has had several write ups over the years for being an abusive boyfriend. He keeps luring women and the occasional man around only to get belligerent with them and start loud, over the top fights that draw crowds. The Daily Mail publishes every piece sent in about him, regardless of if itâs true. Occasionally the stories have a leg to stand on but mostly itâs conjecture from âanonymous sourcesâ. In these times, 2D will always stand up for him, prompting the DM to start the rumors that he has Stockholm Syndrome, a rumor that has the power to send 2D into tirades. Occasionally heâll be so high out of mind that heâll go off on nonsense tangents about Murdoc and how these people are just after attention cause heâs famous and that the abuse heâs endured was never âthat badâ even though thereâs interviews and evidence pointing to the opposite.
-Speaking of The Daily Mail, the love to constantly speculate over the status of 2D and Murdocâs relationship. Over the passed 20or so years, theyâve been the only publication to run actual compromising pictures of them together
-Noodle has a reputation for getting shit faced out at club and god forbid sheâs out with Murdoc. They enable each other to drink more and more. Noodle gets Like embarrassingly falling over drunk and saying wild ass shit. Most of the time though sheâs caught shouting in Japanese at paps and autograph seekers. Itâs gotten so bad in more recent years that Noodle is starting receive bans from a few of the same nightclubs Murdoc already canât get into.
-Russel had a reputation in the early 2000s for being caught talking to himself. It became a crazy obsession in the media for a few years, who was going to catch Russel staring at walls muttering to himself and also causing a lot of speculation as to the nature of his relationship with Del while he was alive. Occasionally those times would devolve into him looking spun out an homeless especially after Dels exorcism. He would still chatter like he was there but really heâd just gone mad. Took an extended break as a posh recovery center after the events of plastic beach, his captive stay in North Korea triggered his muttering again.
-Russel is a secret hacker, but for Robin Hood do goodings. Likes to hack into databases to wipe peopleâs debts or give kids lunch money for school. Almost got caught once leaving a campus getting recognized but managed to bribe the student with an autograph.
-Russ has also been caught buying black market, endangered animals for his Frankenstein-taxidermy. Getting deeper into his hobby, he wanted make the ultimate endangered animal. He claims he didnât see anything wrong with him, since he was technically preserving the animals and they were already dead when he bought them.
-To that point, his room smells awful. Like fermeldahide and death. Also Murdoc likes to take dips of said fermeldahide to make whet joints to take on adventures. Which usually end up in him tripping his balls off.
-Noodle has mpd. She has triggers for her alters that over the years sheâs able to keep controlled but in her teens especially sheâd get caught out in public claiming to be someone else and dressing the part. Her alters stem from the abuse she endured as a child soldier. Itâs a tactic used to make her a better assassin so her main Noodle personality wonât be able to recall the pain and horror sheâs inflicted on people.
-Noodle likes to commit petty crimes for fun, and has been caught on camera several timesSometimes Murdoc will join her, but when they do, the crimes usually escalate beyond petty. The most fun theyâve had together is hot wiring random cars and taking them for joy rides. They always try to return them but usually forget where they came from.
-Murdoc still gets the itch to commit arson from time to time and usually finds old abandoned homes or factories to light up. Heâs been arrested for a few but thereâs never enough evidence to nail him for the crimes, heâs gotten too good at it.
-Murdoc has several off shore bank accounts and shell corporations. Theyâve been talked about in the press marginally but no one really knows what theyâre for or where he gets all that money or what he needs it for. âAnd you never will,â he says, no doubt.

Calico - Chapter Two
â pairing: Hybrid ot7 x Human Reader (Female) â genre: hybrid AU , fluff, angst, slow burn (like real slow), eventual smut â word count: 2K â Rating: M â warnings: trauma, mention of past abuse.
Click for Tag List
â chapter summary:
Y/N runs a animal shelter, Calico was built on a simple principle, to help those who were in need. What will Y/N do when her sanctuary is threatened by an unexpected hybrid?
â A/N: This is going to be a series, Iâm just getting back to writing, so Iâd really appreciate your input and feedback <3
Ch. 1Â Â Ch. 3Â Ch. 3.5 Ch. 4 Ch. 5Â Ch. 6
I stumbled out of bed with a groan, it was almost noon and my hangover was killing me. Last night I was too stressed so I drowned my worries in a bottle of whisky. Why was adulting so annoying, ugh. The house was quiet, Jason had probably already gone to the shelter. I made my way to the kitchen, my zombie brain screaming for coffee. I like my coffee black and bitter, just like my soul. Kidding, I donât have a soul.Â
My phone rang somewhere in the living room. The place looked like a tornado had torn through it. The floor was covered with papers and cushions and clothes and other unidentifiable mess. What the fuck happened last night? By the time I found my phone the ringing had stopped. 28 missed calls from Jason and 2% battery ...great. Â
I made my way to the exam room, the most likely place for Jason to be. It was just a five minute walk from the house. I was in my pajamas, my hair sticking out and the coffee cup in my hand. It was Sunday, I was grumpy.
There was a half-naked man sitting on the exam table, no not a man, a hybrid. His white fluffy tail was droopy. Long white ears poked from his long black hair, he desperately needed a haircut. His ears were limp on his back. There was a hole in his left ear, it was properly done but too big for a piercing. My eyes widened with realization, Iâd seen that before on cattle, his previous owners mustâve tagged him.Â
The hybrid showed no reaction as I went to stand beside Jason, and directly in front of him. His upper body was muscular, he had a thick neck and washboard abs. He was gorgeous. He had a strong jawline, cute eyes and a small nose. The combination of cute and sexy was deadly. His hands were clasped together and he was hunched over, trying to make himself look small, not an easy feat to achieve. Â
âY/N, this is Jungkook,â Jason introduced the hybrid. The bunny stiffened, he didnât raise his head to look at me. What do I do? I wasnât good with people, I preferred animals to humans. Â
âHello, Iâm Y/N,â I greeted. He was sitting so still that you would think he wasnât even there. Was he even breathing? He was still looking down.Â
I looked at Jason, I didnât know what to do. âI found him near the hatch this morning so I brought him in for a checkup.â I nodded.Â
âAre you hungry? Iâm practically starving!â I asked, extending a tentative hand towards the bunny, palm up. He flinched. I kept my hand where it was. I would stand here for hours if I had to. My stubbornness knew no bounds. Minutes passed slowly, Jason was leaning on the counter perfectly at ease, he was a good actor.Â
Slowly Jungkook took my hand. âLetâs go have breakfast,â I whispered, a smile on my face as I slowly led him to the kitchen. Well kitchen was an overstatement, it was a small room with six refrigerators and two freezers, most of them contained medical supplies. A sad, overused coffee machine and a small stove for âEmergency Ramenâ, it was our own special recipe.Â
I opened the fridge with a âNo Science Allowedâ poster taped to its door. I pulled out a bunch of greens to make a salad, rabbits need their greens. We always stocked the fridge for humans and the animals. I wasnât a particularly good cook, I could cook enough to not starve but that was the extent of my cooking skills. A quick chicken salad, eggs and toast and a bunch of pancakes and breakfast was served.Â
Jungkook was still standing near the door where I had left him, eyes downcast, ears flopped. I was an idiot, a massive idiot, I assumed he would sit at the table on his own. Bad Y/N!Â
âJungkook, come sit with me,â I mentally hit myself, it sounded like a command, I was terrible at this. I was used to animals, you tell them what to do, you canât ask a dog if heâd like to sit with you, but Jungkook was a person. I can be an animal therapist but humans? They were beyond me. I didnât know how to get to him. Â
He sat at the table. I pushed the food in front of him, expecting him to eat, another mistake. Hybrids are supposed to obey, they don't do things on their own. I was supposed to tell him what to do. I wanted to pound my head on the table. Stupid Y/N.Â
âWhat would you like to eat?â I asked in the gentlest voice possible, at least I hoped it was gentle.Â
 No response. Â
âGo on this is all for you,â I tried to be encouraging.Â
 Nothing.
âTell you what, if you finish your breakfast, Iâll give you a treat,â his ears twitched. He tentatively picked up a fork and started eating. His movements were small, he barely made any noise as he chewed but at least he was eating.Â
I was still confuzzled, it is a word, a made up word, but then again all words are made up words. Confused and puzzled. I had no idea how to approach him, do I treat him like a human or a rabbit. The âtreatâ card worked but will it work every time? He was taking small bites, I wondered if the food tasted bad. Maybe I forgot to add sugar to the pancakes? Did I forget to season the salad? I sighed internally. He needed a proper meal but sadly, Jason and I were terrible cooks. We lived on take-outs and ramen. Maybe it was time to learn how to cook.
I stood up, he froze. I had to get him used to people. I ignored his stiff posture as I walked to one of the freezers and pulled out a container that held my favorite ice cream. It was âice cream for breakfastâ kind of day. I didnât bother with bowls, two spoons and I was back in my seat.Â
âYou know this is my absolute favorite ice cream in the entire world. It's called Chocolate Brownie Fudge with Marshmallows. It's like a little piece of heaven in a plastic container,â I offered him a spoon. He looked at it as if it was going to bite him. âGo on, it's your treat!â I encouraged with a grin. It was meant to be a small smile but he was too cute and the ice cream made me happy.Â
I dug into the ice cream as if my life depended on it. Jungkook watched me curiously, the spoon still in his hand. He hadnât finished his breakfast but it was a start. For me, it was Sunday, the day where I threw caution to the wind and ate what I wanted. He hesitantly took a spoonful of ice cream, watching me as if I was going to pull the container away from him and tell him it was a joke.Â
As soon as the spoon touched his tongue his eyes lit up like christmas. âAmazing isnât it?â I asked, taking another bite. He nodded excitedly. Apparently he had a sweet tooth. I pushed the ice cream towards him and watched him devour the whole thing in minutes. God he was adorable!
I settled down on the couch in my office, I desperately needed a shower but thatâd have to wait. Jason had taken Jungkook back to our house, he was going to stay in the guest room for the time being. It's not like I was going to put him in the hybrid shelter building, nobody deserved that and he couldnât stay as a rabbit forever.Â
I had a file in front of me, a file on Jungkook. All hybrids are installed with a microchip and registered in the hybrid database as soon as they are born ...or rather created in the labs. Hybrids couldnât procreate, they were made in labs owned by big corporations. Jason had scanned Jungkooks microchip, the file contained everything about his life.
He was created in Corebear Techâs lab and sold at the age of six to a wealthy family as a pet for their son. He was sent back to the company when he was twelve because he had grown too big for a rabbit hybrid. Corebear Tech then sold him to Apexi Pharmaceuticals and I guess thatâs where Yonu found him.
I felt âŠI didnât know what I felt. Maybe a sense of defeat. Jungkook was twenty-three, he was in that lab for eleven years. He was just one year younger than me. I was lost. I couldnât even imagine what he mustâve gone through. There was no way I was going to let Apexi take him back. I called Song Hwa and gave her the file. After all we had evidence to collect and a case to build.
âNot this again!!â I ran through the front door as soon as I smelled smoke in our kitchen. Jason was standing in front of the stove fanning a pot with a newspaper.Â
âI was cooking rice, I donât know what happened,â he said opening the windows.
I took a peek, the rice was black, utterly totally burnt. âJason âŠyouâre supposed to add water to cook itâŠâ
âOh,â Jason loved to cook, the problem was he just couldnât. I was 200% sure that he was cursed by some evil witch. The moment Jason tries to cook, all hell breaks loose. Â
âYouâre on clean-up duty,â I grumbled. At least it wasnât that bad, the cake incident was still fresh in my mind. Once upon a time, when we still lived in our dorm, Jason decided to bake a cake âŠin a pressure cooker. Needless to say, it was a disaster. The cooker blew up, damaging half the kitchen. Thankfully no one was injured.
I softly knocked on the guestroom door. Jungkook had spent the whole day in his room, not that I blamed him. New place, new people, it was bound to be scary.
âHey Jungkook, you want to come out for dinner?â I asked. I could deliver him ramen to his room if he wanted but I hoped heâd come out and eat with us. Yes, we were having ramen, Jason and I still lived as we had lived in our dorm, the only difference was our house was nicer and we had a garden.
Jungkook opened the door, he hadnât locked it. He scrunched his nose as soon as he stepped out. The house was full of burnt smell from Jasonâs cooking adventure. The smell must be stronger for him.
âYeah, Jason tried to cook rice. Pro tip, never eat the food that Jason makes, heâs a terrible cook. Do you want to come eat with us?â I asked. I got a small nod in return.
âLetâs gooooo!! Do you like ramen? We have a really good recipe, well its nothing special, we just throw in some bacon and rice cakes and of course a fuckton of cheese,â I rambled as he followed me to the dining table. âYou can never go wrong with cheese, unless youâre Jason,â Jason made protesting noises, I rolled my eyes at him.
Dinner was a bit awkward. Jason and I kept trying to make Jungkook talk but it didnât work. The poor bunny hadnât spoken a single word since heâd arrived at Calico. The only thing we got out of him were small nods and silence. I wondered if we should consult a therapist. He was human after all and he needed help.
I heard a sharp gasp from my left. Jungkookâs eyes were huge, he was frozen in his chair. He had accidently knocked the salt shaker off the table.
âIâm so..sorry. Please donât punish me. Iâll do anything,â his voice was so small, it made my heart ache.
âOh honey no!â I said as I held his hands. âIt was an accident. You remember what I told you? This is a safe space, youâll never be punished here. I wonât let anyone hurt you, okay?â I was mentally cursing myself for holding his hands on impulse. What if he didnât like people invading his personal space? My worries were put to rest as he squeezed my hands.
âOkay,â he said in the smallest voice.

The Troubadour
Requested: no
A/N: This has to be my longest piece ever! I hope it was worth the wait and that you enjoyed it. There could be a few mistakes in there both in English and Italian, sorry in advance. I loved writing this, it wasnât exactly what I wanted but I am a perfectionist and I have rewritten this about 5 times. I just needed to post it now!
Pairing: OC!Diana Bianchi & Damiano David
Words: 3k
Warning(s): swearing, drinking, smoking (I mean itâs the 70sâŠ), smoking weed, my Italian (I have been studying this beautiful language for three years now but people make mistakes)
West Hollywood, California // Mid-January 1972
Red eyes.
Sweaty foreheads.
That is all Diana would see when they screamed at her. âCAN I GET TWO BEERS AND A COKE PLEASE?!â
Working behind the bar was not her dream job. Diana remembered it like it was yesterday, she and her friend Tami had gone to The Troubadour to celebrate the weekend when she saw a âhelp wantedâ poster. It was a godsend. Diana applied there and then and not long after she found herself behind the bar, handing out drinks to people who looked like they were having the best time of their lives. Another plus side was the fact that she could attend the concerts of all the artists and bands for free.
Obviously, there were also downsides to this job. For example, Diana couldnât go out and live her teenage years. She isnât allowed to drink (too much) on the job and the hours arenât exactly great. The pay is okay though and the tips are even better. Half of the people donât even know how much they are giving and walk off like they didnât just hand you 20 for an eight dollar drink. She doesnât complain much about her job but she does feel left behind sometimes. Like when Tami or her other friend chat about some weird adventure they had the night before and who they met or kissed. Diana felt like she missed out on a lot of things but she had no other choice.
Her parents had kicked her out when she was 15. Diana moved in with her grandmother and lived with her for a while until she passed away. She has been living alone in her grandmotherâs old apartment ever since. A few friends had moved in with her but then moved out again when they had found a better place to live. So it was just Diana paying the rent for the place.
âCAN I GET A RUM AND COKE?!â Diana gets snapped out of her thoughts. Shit, what did he want?! She thinks to herself as she stares at the intoxicated man.  âSORRY?!â She shouts back over the loud music. At least she had another reason for not hearing the man.  âRUM AND COKE!â That is all the man yells before turning his band to her so he could face the stage. Some weird indie band is playing tonight. Diana wasnât really into it and honestly couldnât wait until her boss would send her home for the night. She puts in a little less rum, the man will probably not even taste the difference.
The band had stopped playing somewhere around two a.m. However not all the guests had left around 2.30 which is something Diana hated the most. It wasnât that she didnât enjoy her job but after so many hours standing on her feet, she wanted nothing more than to clean up, go home and get into her warm bed.
âDiana, can you come here for a minute?â her boss asked. What was that tone, was he going to fire her?! âItâs nothing bad, donât worry.â Pfew. Diana walked behind him into his office.
âWhat can I help you with, Doug?â She asked as she sat down in the very comfortable chair across from him. Doug Weston had somewhat become her parent over the last few years that she had worked here. He was always so kind to her and could always ask him for help if she needed him.
âI want to get more bands from across the sea. I want interesting people and not just the same bands playing over and over again. New talent that no one has heard of before but will become known because of this place. Inspire new talent, you know?â He was rambling on with his sales pitch as if you had any input, it was his place after all. âAnd seeing that you can speak more languages than I have ever could, I was wondering if you could write small pieces for newspapers in Europe that will inspire these artists to come here and get all the fame and fortune they want.â
âSure, Doug. You know I would do anything to help this place⊠and you of courseâ, Diana said while a wide grin spread on her face. She felt like she was moving up when in reality it wasnât a new job position. She would do anything to not have the same indie bands playing almost every night. Diana would never have imagined that she would change the lives of four individuals barely six months later, and change her own life along with it.
Rome, Italy // Mid-March 1972
âThe Troubadour. The place where artists and bands from all over the world can make it or break it in the United States. It all depends on the crowd. If they love you, you can come back for an entire week! If not you will receive the money for that evening but sadly you wonât be allowed back. Itâs always packed with record executives so you could get a sweet record deal out of this experience. Do you have what it takes? Sign up and good luck to everyone competing in the battle of the bands! â D. B.â Damiano finishes reading. âRagazzi, I honestly cannot wait till we get to play there! Itâs going to be veramente stupendo!â
âBene Damiano, calm yourself. Itâs less than five months away. We still have to play in this dump to even afford to go. We barely have enough money for a motel, we donât even have the plane tickets yet!â Classic Victoria, always worrying as if she is the mother of the group.  âCalmati Victoria, noi staremo beneâ, Ethan jumps in. âLetâs get back to practising before we start another fight, sĂŹ?â The rest nods their head and pick up their instruments.  âI was thinking, should we start with I wanna be your slave oppuro no? Is it too much?â Damiano suggest.  âOh, and for outfits, I have a few ideas?!â Thomas adds like a little kid who is excited for Christmas day.  âPositivo, letâs look at those after practiceâ, Damiano says. Not even ten minutes later they had many up a little setlist. It was a battle of the bands so they had to at least practice 4-5 songs to play against other bands. Then if they were allowed to come back they had to prepare yet another 6 songs on top of those 5 they had already played. They could do it, they had enough songs in their database but were they going to sing their Italian songs or did they have to translate them? The members of MĂ„neskin werenât sure yet. Luckily for them, they had four months to think about it.
West Hollywood, California // Mid-July 1972
Diana hadnât even woken up yet, but on the other side of the city, MĂ„neskin had arrived at the airport. Â âFinalmente ci siamo. Ce lâabbiamo fatta!â Thomas exclaims. Damiano chuckles and throws an arm around Thomasâs shoulders. Â âSlow down, loverboy. We have not made it yet. We landed yes, but we have a long way to go from here to that stage tonight.â Â âHow every grown-up of you, Damianoâ, Victoria teases. âI bet with Ethan that you would follow the first American girl that you saw in this airport and that we wouldnât see you until much later.â Â âHa ha, molto divertente, Victoria. Sei una persona cosĂŹ divertente.â They continue their bickering whilst Ethan collects all of their suitcases. Â âAddiamo?â He finally asks the group, they all agree and make their way through the busy airport to the designated taxi area. During this, they complain about how crowded it is and how much the air smells. It is nothing like their own country but you have to take chances if you want to become famous like their dream.
Later that day
Doug had told Diana to come into work later than she usually would. It was going to be a busy night and heâd rather have her work during the performances than during the day and wear her out. So here she was around six-thirty instead of two oâclock. It felt so weird because usually when she arrives there is no line out front and now there was one to the end of the block. She passed all the people waiting in line, hearing them complain and moan as she walks up to Mario, the bouncer. He doesnât even need to see her worker-id, as she walks in he wishes her good luck with tonight. She liked Mario, he was working here before she came and even then he had told her if she ever needed anything him and his wife had an extra bed for her. Honestly, the sweetest guy⊠also the toughest guy you will ever meet.
As Diana walked to the changing area to hang her coat and bag, she ran into a few participants of tonightâs show. She greeted most of them but they were too busy with themselves, the fame they hadnât even earned yet was already rising to their heads. Before she could make her way to the bar, Doug called her over.
âDiana, come here for a second. I want to introduce you to a few people.â Classic Doug, always introducing everybody to everybody. If he believed you could make it, he would introduce you to all his workers. However, the bands did not know this, the workers would treat them a little extra. âThey are from Italy as well!â As if Diana herself had moved for their, it was actually her grandparents. She could speak a little Italian but other than her last name, there was nothing Italian about her. Doug briefly introduced the members of MĂ„neskin to Diana, who couldnât keep her eyes off a certain member. To be quite honest she had not remembered everyoneâs names and she stumbled to get her name out of her mouth. All because she was already head over heels with this handsome, tall, young Italian man.
After a couple of introduction, Diana was finally behind her bar, her safe space. Meeting Damiano had made her weak in her knees, she had never had a reaction like this before. She didnât really pay attention to the competitors and focused on serving the people but when it was MĂ„neskinâs turn, she started to lose focus on her work.
During most of their setlist, Damiano kept glancing over to Diana and winking at her. Or at least thatâs what it felt like for Diana. However, after a rather sexy song (letâs be real most of them are) he kissed one of his male bandmates on the mouth. Now Diana is not one to judge people on who they love. She reasons that everyone should love who they want to love and receive love because of it. It wasnât that she hated it, it kind of turned her on, but she was very confused. Had she read the signs wrong? Were there even any signs to begin with? At times like these she wanted to ask Tami for help yet she was afraid that if Tami came and tried to help her that somehow Tamiâs charm would work on Damiano and Diana would still end up with nothing. No, she had to do this on her own, she decided.
After the battle of the bands was over, a few stayed behind to talk with record labels about future arrangements. Diana started cleaning up, and washing and drying a few glasses, secretly listening in on a few conversations.
âI liked what I saw out there. Let your agent call me and we will discuss your expansion in the United States.â Well, that sounded very good. Diana turned around to see who the band was that this man was talking to, but when she turned around she looked right into Damianoâs eyes.
âI have been trying to get your attention all nightâ, he says shyly.  âReally? I thought so but I wasnât sureâ, Diana responds. Damiano raises his hand and scratches behind his head.  âI was wondering, you know. If maybe- ugh. PerchĂš Ăš cosi difficile?â He mutters, not looking Diana in the eyes.  âProvalo in Italiano?â she suggests and Damianoâs eyes shoot up to meet hers.  âCazzo. Parli Italiano?â He looks even more nervous now.  âSi, parlo Italiano.â He laughs at her answer.  âVuoi uscire domani sera?â Diana nods her head, she honestly cannot stop smiling.  âIâd love to go out with you. Do you want me to pick you up at the hotel? That would be easier than you trying to find my house.â  âYeah, sure. Weâre staying at the Millwood Motel, itâs not too far from the airport.â  âAh yes, I know that place. Iâll see you tomorrow then.â He leans over and kisses her cheek before leaving her to finish her work.
That night Diana barely slept. Did Damiano know any places here to take her to? Did she have to come up with a place? What if he was some weird guy? What if he was a murderer?! She sure was happy now that she didnât give him her address. The following day she woke up around noon. She went to the kitchen and grabbed her Cona coffee maker, if she was to get through the day, she was going to need a big cup of coffee. She put water and coffee ground on the lower half of the pot and put it on the stove. She hated having to watch the coffee boil and couldnât wait for better times when you would just have to push a button to get your coffee.
Seeing that she woke up around noon, it didnât take long before Diana met up with Damiano. She asked him if he had anything specific in mind. Surprisingly, he did. He explained that he and his bandmates did a little sightseeing and they walked past a roller skating rink. Damiano always wanted to try that and he thought this would be perfect for their little date. Diana absolutely loved the idea and couldnât wait till they got there.
Both of them were sad that the night had ended so quickly or so they thought. It was in fact 1 a.m. and they had already spend ten hours together. Diana brought Damiano back to the motel with her car and of course he couldnât leave without planting a kiss on her lips. They kissed for a while before finally letting each other go. Â âWeâll be leaving soonâ, Damiano said and looked at their intertwined hands in his lap. Â âAlready? You just got here two days agoâ, Diana complained. She just met him and now he is leaving already? She wasnât prepared for that. She knew he was leaving at some point, he had to he didnât live in the US, but still she had hoped for a little more time together. Â âMaybe weâll come back soon. We have a meeting with our agent and that record label guy tomorrow.â Â âCould we meet up after? We should catch dinner together, I have another day offâ, she suggested. Damiano agreed, kissed her one more time before leaving her car and making his way to his motel room.
The next day
Diana waited for Damiano in front of a large building. She was enjoying the sun on her face when she felt two arms coming from behind and hugging her on her stomach. Â âCiao, amore mio. Sei adorabile oggiâ, Damiano said into her ear before kissing the side of her face. Â âCiao, you donât look to bad yourselfâ, she said as she turned around. She grabbed his face in her hands and kissed him on his lips, his mates cheering them on in the background. âHow did it go in there?â With that question Damianoâs face broke out in a wide grin. âWhat?â Â âAmore, weâre staying here in the US. We got a record deal, we will be here for the entire year!â he shouts and all five of them jump in celebration. âI was going to tell you at dinner, but I just couldnât wait anymore. We can be together, amore.â Diana broke out in tears, nodding her head, for she had never met a man who she loved more than Damiano. Her Italian lover boy.

Wicked Romance
Chapter 3
Character : Mob!Steve Rogers x Retired Assassin Female Reader
Summary :Â Steve was hoping to meet the right one until he met her. But is he ready to be with her? He thought his life already dark because of his job. He wouldnât able to find a woman that strong enough to face the hardship to stand beside him. Turn out his life is nothing compared to her.Â
Warning : No smuts, since I donât know how to write it. Peace yâall.Â
Today (Y/N) drive Peter to his workplace; the business still close, but Wanda wants him to come to discuss which recipe they should use for the grand re-opening.
Usually, Peter use his bike to go to work. But (Y/N) offers to use her car since sheâs also going out.
Peter notices a big back on her backseat. âWhere are you going?â
âMy friend needs my help.â
âHmm.â He was silent if (Y/N) mention âhelpâ means including guns, explosions, and deadly battle.
âWhoâs your friend?â
(Y/N) felt nervous, she bit her lips. âJohn WickâŠ??â She answered him with questions because she knew he doesnât like it when dealing with underworld stuff.
The atmosphere suddenly became quiet.
She felt nervous because he became quiet. âAre you mad? Donât worry Bambi, Iâll be back before you know it.â
She glanced a bit to see his reaction wondering if heâs mad. Well, sheâs right cause Peterâs head is looking out his window and he already put on his earphones. (Y/N) sighed inwardly, she couldn't help it when her former comrade asked for her help.
Their ride was silent until her car stopped at Peter's destination. From her view, she could see the restaurant almost done with the renovation. The worker put in new furniture and chandeliers.
âHave a good day Peter.â (Y/N) rests her on the steering wheels; she smiles sweetly at Peter, but he still give her a cold shoulder.
She doesnât like it when he ignores her, so when he gets out of the car and closes the door, (Y/N) open the car window and screams, "Bye, I love you!!!"
Honestly, he didnât play any song to his ears; he only put it on just for show because itâs too early to argue with (Y/N). How shocked he was when he heard her sudden shout.Â
Peter was embarrassed because there are many people in front of the store and pedestrians right now. All eyes and giggle are directed to him; he pulled down the hoodie to hide his face.
(Y/N) giggled like a maniac, she shouted again, âPeter, I wonât go until you say it back!!â
Peter huffed before turning around and ran to the car again. âLove you too, donât get killed and donât ruin your new carpet with blood this time.â After he said that, he ran into the building. He wishes he could dig a hole and hide right now.
(Y/N) feels satisfied after knowing heâs talking to her again. She drove the car, heading to her battleground.
.
.
.
When Peter stepped inside, he saw his colleague chuckled when they looked at him. He tries to act cool and walks towards Wanda table.
Peter felt a big shadow covering him; it made him stop walking. He glanced through his shoulder and saw his boss, Sam, Steve, and Bucky, looking at him with a weird smile.
âEhm, can I help you sir?â Peter's shoulder became tense; he has never been this close with them.
Bucky put his arms around Peterâs shoulder. âHave you had breakfast Peter?â
âYea⊠WaiittâŠ.â Before Peter could finish his answer, Bucky carried his body like a potato sack.
Peter doesnât understand why he got treated like this. They enter the private room that is only reserved for the elite patron.
Bucky drops Peter to the seat while Sam offers the kid an apple juice. Steve is standing in front of him.
âThat was a nice car Peter.â
A light bulb appears in front of Peter; he could figure out what they will ask him about (Y/N).
Peter is right; three of them are curious even before they heard a woman shout towards Peter.
Why?
Because of the car.
Today (Y/N) drove using her car of the day, which is a Lamborghini Aventador.
Even the sound of the car engine made everyone turn their head to see itâno exception for Steve, Bucky, and Sam.
####
Before Peter arrived.
Steve, Bucky and Sam, are already at the restaurant to supervise the working progress. They were heading out after making sure everything was fine until they heard a loud engine sound.
How surprised they were when they saw Peter step out from the car. Steve could see it was a woman who drove the car.
âHmm, Peter usually drove a bike here.â Said Pietro, who joined them.
âHe acts like a poor kid turned out heâs rich.â
They are still looking outside, trying to see who the driver is. Lucky for them the car window rolled down.
Steve almost popped out his eyes when he saw the woman he was longing to meet is the car owner.
âHmm is that Miss Lilly?â Pietro recognised his favourite customer. His hunch was correct all this time; Peter and she knew each other.
âBye, I love you!!!â
The adult male gasped when they heard her shout towards Peter.
âOh my god, Peter is a sugar baby and Miss Lily is his sugar mama.â Pietro gasped.
Steve knocked the bartender's head lightly. âGo help your sister.â Pietro rolled his eyes and left to help Wanda.
Bucky looked at Steve, who had a jealous expression on his face. âAsk the kid.â He knew his friend had been looking for the mysterious girl for weeks, but they found nothing. It turns out the one who gives them the information is here.
.
.
.
âThank you, it belongs to my sister.â
How relieved Steve was when the word âsisterâ came out of Peter's mouth.
"You never mention you have older siblings. "
"Step sibling actually."
"Hmm."
"So her name is Lily Parker?" Bucky opened his notebook and put her name in the database. He thought they could find something, but they didn't.
Peter raised his eyebrow.
"Come on Peter, you know what we do. Our boss here is interested in your older sister."
âWe didnât share a last name. Her name is Lily Belcher.â
Bucky immediately types the last name. He smiled after they finally found what theyâre looking âSteve, come and take a look at this.â
Steve looks at the screen; he could see her occupation as Special Project Analyst, skills in archery, karate, and Muay Thai.
âIn which industries sheâs working?â Steve asked Peter.
âAutomotive.â
Steve canât be fooled; this is must be fake info of her. Thereâs no way an analyst hide a dagger under her dress. Thereâs a lot of question in his head right now, but he needs to wait until everything is ready.
.
.
.
Peter and others are having lunch together until Vision turn up the TV volume. Usually, they let it on without any voice. But today, breaking news is different because they could see a camera moving and show Brock and his lackey are asleep on the plane runway.
âToday in the middle of the city, thereâs a guy riding a horse and shooting a certain group and some witnesses said a female helping him. Then a private jet that belongs to Mr Rumlow got stolen by them. The culprit put the passenger to sleep as you can see.â
The big bosses are laughing out loud in the office; they could hear it from outside.
âHahaha, who is this guy? Who ever did this to Brock, I owe him a drink.â Bucky has the loudest laugh.Â
While they were laughing, Peter almost choked to death. He was drinking water when he heard the newsâonly one brave enough to steal in daylight.
#####
Inside the stolen private jet, a woman treats a wounded male with blood everywhere on his body.
âDoes it really necessary to steal from him? Thereâs a lot of empy jet that we could use.â John Wick is lying on the small couch while closing his eyes because (Y/N) stitching his open injury.
(Y/N) answer while trying to finish her job. âThat guys annoyed me, because of him my tea time got ruined.â
John chuckled, hearing her childish reason. âRemind me not to get on your bad side (Y/N).â
Another day,Â
Another challenge.
Finally, Steve business re-opened again. He and his friends are welcoming their guest together. But secretly, heâs nervous, thinking if she will come or not. He kept dreaming about her.
âPunk, your girl is here.â Bucky alerts his friend.
Steve turns his head to the entrance. He became dumbfounded at one moment when he saw her step into the building. She was beautiful, and when not smiling, she looked more dazzling, her presence hypnotising her spectators.
âGreat party Rogers.â (Y/N) compliment the host party while handed him liquor as a gift.
Steve was surprised when she gave him a gift. âYou donât have too.â He prepared to decline in the polite matter, but Pietro grabs the bottle.
âThe Dalmore 62??!!â He almost screamed when he saw the label. Because of his job, he knew a lot of expensive liquor. The one heâs holding is costly. Even with his salary, thereâs no way he could buy this drink.
âThank you Miss Lily.â Pietro looks at Steve with a big smile. âIâll put this into your collection boss.â
Steve rolled his eyes to his childish bartender, he felt annoyed, but he became less tense when he heard her giggle. He ordered a drink from Pietro assistant for both of them.
The beautiful couple talks like itâs only them who inside the room.
"Lily Belcher is not your real name right?" Steve twirl the whiskey glass in his hand.
"Maybe, why do you think that?"
"Can I know your real name?"
"What are you gonna do about it?"
Steve smirked; he lowered his head to get closer to her ear and whispered something that made her giggle.
"That sounds fun."
"How about a bet? If you win I will tell you my real name."
"But if you win?"
"I'll get free food everytime I come here."
Steve chuckled, then he let out a big laugh. He never thought a girl like her would ask this from him. Somewhat refreshing actually; well, he won't mind if he lost because he could see her every time she came here.
"Deal."
Steve hug her waist intimately. "What exactly is the challenge?"
"How many spies we could find in your party."
Steve looked at her face with a big question mark.
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and act playfully in front of him. "Ah, come on Steve I know this grand party also a silent announcement that this place is neutral. Like where the law enforcement and mobsters could enjoy their drink and food together."
Steve was impressed with her judgment.
"My guts tell me you already figure who it is."
She tapped her lips"Yeah, not the police cause they don't want to deal with mobster. My guess isâŠ" She whispers to him, "C.I.A."
Steve gripped his wine glass; he felt annoyed he got an uninvited guest tonight.
"They won't target you tonight. I assure that."
"I fell safe already cause an angel like you guarding me." Steve responded.
(Y/N) laugh bitterly that's what man calls her like love, baby, and another sweet nickname, but after they break up, she gets called bitch, or satan.
"Who could figure who the spies the most won."
"Deal."
(Y/n) is walking away from Steve, but he holds her waist. "Let's do it together." Since he doesn't want to let her wander around, other males will try to flirt with her. Nope, not on his watch.
âI forgot to tell you, thereâs a time limit.â (Y/N) move away from his embrace; she taps her watch. âWe have 30 minutes. Time is ticking Rogers.â
Steveâs hand felt empty when she stepped away, but he more determined to finish their bet. "Okay."
####
Bucky, Sam, are looking at Steve, who acts like a lovesick puppy. They could tolerate Steve for leaving them to attend to their guest. Since the main reason for today party is to impress her. It seems like the plan is a success. Steve and she are inseparable.
Sarah and Joseph Rogers enter the party together. Usually, Steve would welcome them immediately, but they didnât see a glimpse of their son.
Sarah approach her son best friend to ask, âWhereâs Steve?â
Bucky smiled at her. âHeâs with a special guest tonight.â
Joseph smirked since he understands what Bucky just said: âI would like to meet her.â
.
.
.
(Y/N) use her skill to seduce the spies; most of them were unprepared for a beautiful lady like her to approach them. They are here to get information. Her method was quiet; she put sleeping pills into their drinks. One by one, the spies excuse themselves to the bathroom to wash their face. Thatâs where (Y/N) knocked them down.
While Steve uses his status as the host party. He is a proper host; he gave a warm welcome to the spies. The spies knew they are done. They want to refute, but they are already in the wrong since they fake the invitation. Steve is considerate and doesnât want to make a scene asking them to go back to their car.
When Steve walks behind the spies, he sees her already standing leaning to the car.
â20 minutes, not bad. How many that you found?â
âThree.â Her finger pointed to the three male who fell asleep.
Steve smirked. âFour.â
âNo way.â
âLook like I won.â
(Y/N) clicked her tongue. âHow?â
âI have the upper hand from the beginning since Iâm the owner. I knew who the guests were and the people who work under me.â
âAh, I havenât checked the kitchen. My dress-code wonât allow me to enter.â
Steve nodded. âThereâs one waiter who I've never seen before, he works alongside Pietro, your favourite bartender.â
The spies felt like a light bulb for the couple; they excuse themselves quietly by dragging their team, who fell asleep, back into their car and drive away. They bet the couple doesnât notice nor seem to care about their presence. Itâs uncomfortable watching the mob boss flirting.
They were right; the couple doesnât care at all. They went back to the building where Steve takes her to the terrace; he already arranged it to be beautiful; he requests to make the light illuminate the flower perfectly.
âSo my mysterious guest would you tell me your name?â
Under the light, Steve saw her beautiful smile â(Y/N) Parker. Iâm pretty sure you already know about me and Peter.â
Steve nodded. âHeâs lucky to have a beautiful sister like you and your name sounds perfect to my ear.â
He put his arm around her waist and leaned his head near her ear. She could feel his breath kinda tickle her neck. â(Y/N), what kind of reward will you give me since I successfully redecorated this place and won the bet today?â
She always likes a straightforward person like Steve. She doesnât mind his aggressive touch. This time it (Y/N) turns to whisper in his ear. What she said almost made Steveâs leg become jelly. If he didnât maintain his self-esteem, he would lose at this moment.
âOh, Iâm sorry I thought this place is empty.â A guest interrupted.Â
Steve sighed; another one tries to disturb their private moment. He asked her if she wants to come to his house, to which she immediately agreed.
âNot saying goodbye to your brother?â
(Y/N) doesnât worried about Peter since she taught him lethal self-defence. Thereâs a lot of sharp weapons if someone tries to hurt him. âHeâs fine.â
Both of them get into the car; Steve drives back to his place.
When they headed to their destination, they got attacked again. (Y/N) and Steveâs make-out session got disturbed.
âBANGâ
Both of them knew itâs a bullet that hit Steveâs car. He already prepared for this kind of attack, all of his car already modified with bulletproof.
Guess who? Brock, heâs made a fuss since he didnât get the invitation.
Steve felt guilty looking at his date, but his worries are all gone when he saw her look excited.
âKeep driving.â
âWhat?â
(Y/N) hand move to touch Steve blazer that made him shocked because of her hand touching his abs.
â(Y/N) now is not the time.â Steve hold his breath.
(Y/N) she laughed because Steve seemed misunderstood; she didnât say anything that made him more frustrated. If the situation is different, he wouldnât mind.
Her finger found Steveâs gun that attached to his belt. âIâm going to borrow this for a moment.â
âThatâs dangerous, letâs stop here.â
Before he stops the car, (Y/N) opens the window; her body still stays on the seat; she puts out her right that holds the gun. She saw her target through the car window.
âDrive to the left a little bit Steve.â
âWhat?â
âNow.â
Steve does as she told. It gave her a clear shot at Brock's car.
âBOOM.â
Steve gasped, his head kept turning back, looking at the scene; with just one shot Brockâs car tire got shot that made them lose control and hit the concrete barrier.
He finally able to stop his car. âThat was a big crash.â
(Y/N) felt proud with just one bullet, she able to ruin the car chase. âIf they die, thatâs on them.â
âYouâre amazing.â Steve grabbed her cheeks and brought her head closer to him so he could kiss her. Itâs been a long time since he gets excited like this.
âI never met a woman like you.âÂ
They only been together for hours but Steve already felt the connection. And tonight even though thereâs a lot of distraction, he could be himself when she stay beside him.Â
He hope she would be the last one.Â
So they drive back to his place and do the deeds.Â
(BANG! BANG! BANG!)
.
.
.
While the couple is enjoying their intimate moment, the atmosphere quite different in C.I.A HQ.
âTHUDâ The sound of a pile of document being smashed to the table made the people who stand fidget a bit. They put their head down since they too scared looking at their boss.
âDAMN IT!!!â
âIt was perfect, but all of you failed the mission. How?â
The person who just punched the table and screamed at her subordinate is Peggy Carter, also Steve ex-girlfriend. They were together in the military, but they broke up after Steve decided to work with his father.
She is pissed that her plan to get her people to be the informant for the mob, using the party tonight, has failed.
C.I.A has trying to get dirt from Steve group; they even use Peggy to fool Steve since they had a history together. Peggy uses this mission to make Steve quit being a mobster boss, but itâs such a difficult task to change his mind. Her mission was failed when Natasha found out.
Peggy knew sheâs finished when Natasha confronted her.
Her betrayal hurt Steve, and he banned her from stepping into his territory.
âWho found you?â
âThe big boss.â
âArgh, that even worse.â
âAnd thereâs one more that is helping him. Sheâs the one who put the other three to sleep.â
âShe?â Peggy raised her eyebrows.
âYeah and a pretty one. This is the first time we've seen her with Rogers.â
âHave you found out who it is?â
âWe use facial recognition, her name is Lilly Belcher.â One of the agents gives her a document.
She read the file âShe looks innocent to be with Steve.â
âand beautifulâ
Peggy clenched her fist when she looked at the photo. The break-up left bitterness in her heart. From the story, she heard from her agents, seems like this woman is strong and doesn't mind playing along with Steve. The totally opposite of their relationship.
'Perhaps he found his right partner.'
Peggy doesn't like that idea âI wonât let you have a happy ending Steve.â

For Arcane April, maybe Shinso w/letâs say number 12? Iâve really been loving any Siren!Shinso stuff I can find. Thank you for your writing! Itâs a pleasure to read đ
This took longer than I thought but then again this ended up longer than I thought. I wanted to try and take like an urban fantasy spin on this but go a bit...grittier? idk. This was just where my brain took me so I hope you like it! <3
Gossamer Web
Siren!Shinsou x Thief!Reader (a bit of sexual tension)
Warnings: Brainwashing, Dubcon (kissing) and blackmail
It was just another party, a gathering for some fundraiser or another that he honestly couldnât even remember anymore. When you held a position like Hitoshi, seated among the rich and influential, a certain degree of public relations was necessary. And doing events for charity in the eyes of the public was just another part of maintaining his image. While Shinsou couldnât remember what party he was even throwing anymore, his assistant would inform him later, he did like to think he knew the face of every important figure in the city. And plenty abroad too.
So his surprise was quite palpable when he saw you.
His lifestyle constantly had him around pretty people, coiffed and waxed to perfection, top of the line brands to smooth over any flaws that could possibly be present. Pretty faces to hide pretty fangs and pretty paint to coat their pretty claws before sinking them into someone. However, yours was a very different sort of attractive. Naturally at an event like this your makeup was applied and done so artfully, but it was in such a way that it enhanced what you had rather than attempted to bury whatever perceived flaw could be seen.
Most women attended these events hoping to look like the most beautiful one in the room, while the men sought to look the most powerful. But you moved and spoke and looked with a different purpose. You were searching for something. Indigo eyes slipped down to eye the gossamer threads of your dress, a stunning thing of spun shadow that fit your body like a glove. But it was only more exquisite whenever you moved, showcasing the elaborate enchantment that was woven into the very threads. Stars would wink and burst from your body, along with tufts of purple black clouds. But strung on a simple silver chain was the bespelled glow of a crescent moon.Â
HItoshi found himself breaking away from whatever boring conversation he was caught in to approach you, eyes glinting with interest. You were even more stunning up close, showing that you held a natural glow all on your own. With every step closer, the wink of starlight woven into your hair like constellations would catch his eye, beckoning him further to you. Whatever witch had magicked your clothes and hair was very talented and knew what they were doing.
âYou look a bit lost.â he said to you after drawing very close to your back, close enough that it pulled a startled squeak past your lips, âCan I help you find something?â
Hitoshi deliberately laid the smooth demeanor on thick, a crooked smirk quirking on his lips. If he wasnât so good at reading expressions, he might have missed the string of emotions that flitted across your face and in your eyes but he caught them. First surprise followed closely by recognition which melted to a look of worry or fear. And then it was gone beneath the smouldering curve of a coy smile.
âHmmm and what if I just found it?â
A line heâd heard before but there was something lacking behind the delivery. Shinsou couldnât quite put his finger on it but there wasnât enough spice between the lines that gave the tell tale sign of someone looking for a quick fuck. Curious. A charming smirk wormed its way onto his lips, hiding the way his mouth had already began watering at the prospect of finding out more of what you were looking for. Anyone who came here with a purpose usually intended to use something against him.Â
âWell I guess that depends,â Hitoshi purred lowly to you, âwhat was it you were planning to do after you found me?â
This would have been the perfect opportunity for you to make another pass at him. To hint at how you wanted to be pressed against him in the throes of passion or whatever other way that it could be worded. But you completely skipped over that chance. One of your hands drifted up to toy with the luminous crescent moon that hung around your neck, deep and thoughtful eyes assessing him carefully.
âI guess I just wanted to see the man behind the name in person.â
A predatory glint sparked in his eyes, indigos boring into you as he drew impossibly close. Even through the well made fabric of his Armani suit, Hitoshi could feel the warmth of your body. He tilted his dark lavender head, drinking in the sight of you and how you seemed to fidget with him drawing nearer. The CEO decided he was going to make use of a power that he had at his disposal that very few people knew about.Â
He tipped your head up to look into his face before purring out, âTell me your name.â
The magic woven into his very vocal cords twisted around you, bewitching you, until a glaze had fallen over your eyes, pupils swelling beneath the grip of his enthrallment. It was almost unfair how easily he could twist people to his whim with the power of his voice, have them spill their deepest secrets and desires to him. So to hear your mouth and tongue curl delightfully around your real name, it sent a surge of satisfaction.
âA beautiful name, Kitten.â a thumb traced along the curve of your jaw, âWhat were you really looking for tonight?â
âYou keep the Wayfarerâs Orb here, third floor behind a wall of several enchantments and and a summon from the Infernal district,â you recited to him almost dreamily, âIâm going to steal it.â
Hitoshi tilted his head, dark smirk on his lips, âAnd what else? I know you didnât risk pissing me off just for that.â he pressed a taunting kiss to your temple before leaning back, âTell me the story while you walk with me, I want to hear all about it.â
He pulled your body close to his, your side pressed up against his as he led you away with an arm wrapped around your waist possessively. To anyone else, it would just appear as if he had found a new play thing that he was taking off to have some fun with. And in a way that was true. Indigo eyes swept over your delightful body and he couldnât help but think how satisfying and how it would be to see you a broken little mess under him. A wet tongue snaked out to lick at his lips, arousal spiking in him. Youâd look so pretty arching your back, column of your tender throat bared for him to bite as he speared inside of you.
âThe orb was just a bonus and a way to cover my true intentions. Iâve already begun uploading valuable intel from your security databases and placed trackers so I can find more information about you and sell it.â
âWhat a clever little thingâŠâ Hitoshi hummed down at you, fingertip tracing small circles on your hip, âAnd Iâve no shortage of enemies so you could charge whatever you wanted and they would pay it.â He led you deeper into his mansion, guiding the way up to the wing where he kept the stone you had planned to take, âYou looked scared when you saw me...did you know that Iâm a Siren?â
âSuspected but wasnât sure.âÂ
The dry drone of your voice was so satisfying. It was a song in and of itself, tongue curling around your forced submission to him anything he wanted you to. Hitoshi only stopped guiding you when the both of you reached the room which held the Wayfarer Orb on a pedestal. It was a smooth, polished stone of milky white with flashes of crimson red flecked throughout its surface. He had acquired it at least a year ago, an ancient stone said to help bring protection to the owner. It seemed necessary given how rapidly he had grown his empire.
âLook at me Kitten.â he yanked you to him, the sweet swell of your breasts pressed against his front, âWould you like it if I kissed you?â
He would be lying if he said that he asked this question with completely innocent intent. The thought of claiming your mouth was tempting but he wanted to know if you had at all been tempted by him in the brief time he spoke with you. Or while you did your research. Hitoshi swept a thumb along your lower lip, parting your mouth for him as you stared blankly at him.
âYes.â
Shinsou dipped his head and brushed his mouth faintly against yours, murmuring, âWhen did you start feeling attracted to me?â
âWeâve met before. Enjiâs holiday gala. We danced together.â
Now that was interesting. He pulled back, brows shooting up as he looked down at you. Despite how closely he studied your face, the sweep of your cheek bones, the hue of your eyes, he couldnât remember you at all. Indigo eyes lidded lazily, a stray fingertip dragging along the arch of a brow.
âWhy donât I remember you then?â
âI spiked your drink with a memory potion.â
Shock zinged through him then. It had been proper years since the last time anyone had gotten the jump on him and yet there you were, speaking only honesty for his ears as his voice compels you. Had this encounter never happened, he never would have known. If you could pull a stunt like that then the skills you have were unspeakably valuable and he had every plan to use them. Shinsou chuckled softly before dropping the enthrallment of his voice around you.Â
The world came spinning back then, awareness creeping into the edges of your thought as you tried to grasp just where you were. By the time your pupils had refocused, he was crushing his mouth down onto yours. A muffled squeal was his answer along with you pushing at his chest. But the sensuous way his mouth moved against yours had you melting in his arms, soft moans humming in your throat as he kissed you.
When he finally broke the kiss, both of you were panting while you glared daggers up at him.
âWhat the fuck?!â you ripped yourself free of his grasp, staggering backwards with a hand clutched to your mouth, âWhatâre you doing?!â
The look of frustration blended heavenly with your flustered expression. Mirth spilled over in his open mouthed smirk. Casually he slipped his hands into his coat pockets, cocking a brow and half lidding his eyes at you. Tilting his head to the side, a soft laugh rumbled in his chest, drinking in your more outraged expression.
âNothing you donât want me to do, Kitten.â
âAnd how do you work that out?â
âYou told me yourself.â Hitoshi gestured out towards the vault, hand showing you the glint of the Orb you came to steal, âAlong with your goals. Your suspicions proved right.â
âShitâŠâ
âNow hereâs how things are going to go,â he slowly advanced on you, âyouâre going to put those skills of yours to work for me.â
You glared at him, âAnd if I refuse?â
âWell, I use my abilities and have you out yourself to every powerful figure here tonight.â that smirk widened, âYouâre that one thief thatâs been targeting all the high rollers, arenât you? I imagine that they would all love to meet you.â
Fear flooded your eyes then, âYou...you wou-â
âWouldnât I? If youâve done your homework about me then you know how much of a dangerous man I can be.â
You had done your homework and that was truer than you would like to admit. Hitoshiâs public image was great but if you dug a little deeper, strange disappearances that surrounded him. Brainwashing you and having you out your secret to some of the most influential people of the city who would love to see you punished for your work. It would be the end of you and he knew you would have no choice but to work for him.Â
And that was how you, The Firefly, thief of rich assholes extraordinaire, came to work for Shinsou Hitoshi. Through blackmail and the threat of one of the most powerful men in the city ruining you.

Yearning (Reed900)
This fic is on AO3!
There was one thing in the Zen Garden he had created on his own, started from scratch with each line of code carefully written by the android himself. It was the thing that made him look forward to stasis.
(Inspired by the song "I Wanna Be Yours" by the Arctic Monkeys and the Detroit: Evolution Reed900 edit with the same song by Octopunk Media. In addition, I took Zenvin from DE but this isn't a DE fic)
Nines, nowadays, is almost always eager to enter stasis.
As an android of the RK line, it was seen as necessary to do. Connor, an RK800 and his predecessor, had to do it. Markus, an RK200, had to as well. As advanced prototypes, they used stasis to process information the way humans used dreams. However, in stasis, androids were fully aware of their actions and environment.
Nines, an RK900, had a Zen Garden waiting for him in stasis. For the other RKs, they had created their own environments. However, Nines stuck with the setting given to him by CyberLife. It was familiar and comforting.
Although, there was one thing in the Zen Garden he had created on his own, started from scratch with each line of code carefully written by the android himself. It was the thing that made him look forward to rest.
It was a version of Gavin, his work partner. He was a detective and human who worked with the android at the Detroit Police Department.
Initially, the Zen Garden version of Gavin, or Zenvin, as Nines liked to call him, was created as a way to cope with the real Gavinâs vile behavior when they were first partnered. Gavin was a cantankerous man when they first met. He was almost always raising his voice at the android and belittling him when they had met. Nines, in his frustration, created Zenvin. He was kinder, for the most part. Although, he served the purpose of teaching Nines how to interact with his partner. The AI had helped him greatly.
Now, Gavin and Nines were as close as an android detective and his human partner could get, considering their rough start. They were close friends now, after having taken the time to attempt to understand each other after their endless amount of misunderstandings. They were on good terms.
Although, something in Nines itched for more. He wasnât sure when it had started. Like a flower, the feeling bloomed a while ago, and had continued to grow. At first, the feeling was painful and emotionally burdening. After, he began to come to terms with the fact that he had fallen in love with someone for the first time. Someone he had a work and platonic relationship with. The acceptance helped, but the pain was still there regardless.
It was only during stasis he could ease away the pain and disregard the unrealistic aspects of the pre-constructions he had made, all involving the detective.
It was only during stasis he could satisfy his own feelings.
Zenvin was made to help Nines learn how to deal with his human, but he eventually was used to help play out the scenarios he had only imagined involving the actual Gavin Reed.
Only in his Zen Garden could he hold, kiss, and hug Gavin without the fear of rejection or distrust. Nines knew the human would never return his feelings, let alone touch him, even in a platonic sense.
The AI he had created looked, talked, walked, and sounded exactly like Gavin. It possessed his emerald eyes and playful tone.
The thing was, Nines was fully aware of the fact that the AI was only a simulation; he could satisfy all his wants and needs in this world he possessed, but Gavin would never truly love him back. Although, pretending in his Zen Garden hurt less than having to face rejection by his partner.
The android opened his eyes slowly. His LED spun calmly, glowing pastel yellow.
He looked ahead, confused as he saw no one in sight.
Taking a deep breath, the android began to stroll around his Zen Garden, looking for the AI man he sought out every time in this world.
Zenvin stood at the opposite end of the garden, looking up at the pink of the cherry blossoms blooming on a tree.
âNines,â He greeted with a pleasant tone, smiling gently.
âHello, Gavin.â
Admiring the human's serene expression, Nines smiled back at him. He looked lovely.
Zenvin turned to the RK900.
The AI looked calm and rested, rather than disheveled and tired, unlike the human he was based on. He wore a clean white shirt and kept his hair naturally curly. His skin looked bright and clean. Although he kept his stubble and scars, he still looked angelic.
He took the androidâs hand in his, interlaced their fingers, and kissed the back of Ninesâs hand, making him blush blue.
They began their typical stroll around the garden with a languid pace. Nines always felt relaxed here, as if a deep calm blanketed his body.
He felt the warm sunlight of his skin, the gentle grip of Gavinâs hand, and heard the soft thud of their footsteps beneath them.
Being here with Zenvin never failed to bring him genuine peace. Here, he could slow down for a few moments before committing himself back to his real life. It was always stressful and confusing out there.
The android may have been a deviant for over a year, but his emotions and their effects always felt new, as if he was only converted days ago. It added to the stress of navigating through work and personal matters. The whirlwind of emotions he was always experiencing usually felt overwhelming, besides in moments like this. Everything felt manageable and distant like this.
Only in his own mind could Nines truly relax.
Zenvin brought them over to a bench placed in the center of the garden, facing the old âemergency exit" in the distance. It had no use, now that Nines was deviant. It was meant to be used if an android had to force exit the control of CyberLife or their program. Although, there was no use now that all androids were deviant. There was no programming to escape.
Now, it was kept there for the sake of comfort: he would never use it, but he wanted to keep it there. He knew he would dislike the empty space it would leave behind and would not know what to use to fill its place.
He looked at it for a second, wondering if he would ever have had to use it if the circumstances were different.
âEyes on me, tin can.â
The android turned to face the man beside him, who stared at him with a fond smile.
Zenvin brought his hand up to the Ninesâs neck, gently caressing it. Rubbing his thumb against his cheek, the program human tilted his head to the side in the quizzical matter the RK900 did at times.
âWhat are you thinking about?â
âNothing much. Iâm just glad to be here with you.â
Nines placed his hand over Zenvinâs. He couldnât help the smile that bloomed across his lips as he leaned into the touch.
Suddenly, the humanâs expression changed into something serious. The smile on his lips had disappeared and his brows were slightly furrowed in what seemed to be worry.
âNines, I need you to wake up. Wake up, Nines,â Nines heard.
However, it didnât come from Zenvinâs lips.
Nines looked at him with sudden confusion. His LED spun a violent red and began to flicker wildly.
âGavin?â
Nines blinked forcefully a few times, his Zen Garden and the real world replacing each other every time he opened his eyes. After a few more times, he was finally completely out of stasis, displeased to have left his Zen Garden so suddenly.
âI leave for maybe, about 3 minutes and youâre already nodding off on me. You sure youâre alright?â
âIâm fine, Detective.â
âSheesh, I didnât mean to interrupt your beauty sleep. No need to pull the âDetectiveâ shit on me.â
Gavin eyed the android suspiciously, who just went back to scanning files on his tablet. He turned to his computer and sipped his coffee.
With no new cases of their concern, the duo didnât have much to do besides look at old cases or, in the androidâs case, upload hard copies of information from the evidence archive to the police departmentâs online database.
The lack of action was unusual for them, as they could usually be found on active scenes or researching their cases. However, it was excruciating, especially for the human. Everyone in the station knew that he lived for his job, so seeing him so agitated over the lack of work was expected.
âMay I suggest ending our work day early? Iâve already updated the departmentâs database with case files from the 1970s to the 1980s and Iâm sure youâre sick of staring over the same closed case for 3 hours.â
Gavin stared at Nines with a cocked eyebrow.
âYouâve read my mind,ïżœïżœïżœ he sighed, grabbing his keys and turning off his computer.
âLetâs grab something to eat, yeah?â
âSure, Gavin.â
Gavin walked toward the back exit of the building as Nines tidied his desk, numerous pre-constructions, which would never be played out, running through his HUD.

I'm from a different dimension actually Chapter 7 Damian x reader
"Ira! I need my emergency kit!" Molly is pulling at my hair with a brush, I grimace at my reflection, she had put pearls and violet gems in my hair. Seeing as it already wasn't long bearly pushing past my ears, even though there aren't many of them in there it ways down in some places. I had already allowed her to put me in a ball gown, which I'm sure costs much more than my apartment building. It reminds me of peacock feathers, purples, greens, blues fill the cloth they blend seamlessly dark purple at the top and ending with blue at the bottom. I look at the matching marbled shoes and guilt climbs through me.
"Molly I don't need makeup, I'm already in a peacock dress, and there are gems in my hair. Besides the mascara is enough I don't want to spend an hour rubbing anything else off." Molly gasps, a hand gripping at her heart.
"Why-how could you say such a thing!" Ira hands Molly her phone, she screams. "We're going to be late! Ira put the bag back!" I'm yanked from my chair and raced down the hall within minutes I'm thrown into a limo with Molly's parents. Molly jumps in starting to yell at the driver shocking her parents who kept telling her to calm down. It doesn't take long to get to Wayne Manor, the courtyard is crowded filled with flashing lights from cameras reporters, and newscasts. They surrounded every inch with an exception of a semi-circle right at the front of the building where the car pulled up. Once more I'm pulled roughly out of the vehicle by molly, I nearly trip going up the stairs.
"Molly dear, we need to go in together!" My friend's mother pants from behind her husband seems to be in a similar position as me. Like mother like daughter.
I pull my arm away from Molly gently and smooth out my peacock dress, I sigh internally finding relief that I had personally told Molly to make the dress so it covered without it being tight. If I didn't then I would be pulling up the fabric like Molly who went not so modest. Not only had she blinged out she full-on black and high heels that pushed out her height. She looked good, and she made her parents match. When her mother finally catches up she puts a hand on her daughter's shoulder.
What happens after the incident leaves me at a table sitting behind a card with my name on it. Molly was seated somewhere else because I had used my own invitation instead of being a plus one. My eyes cast over the room soaking in again the decor of the newly decorated main floor. My energy seems to drain while I watch the people chat dance and laugh. No one was seated at my table and I was slightly relieved but I still felt odd. I had gone to parties with my mom in the past, ones that were held in her honor about her findings. I feel myself relishing in those memories I had looking back at the times she would pull a silly face at me while I was bored at said parties, or told a joke in some of her speeches. My mother was the expert in The Islamic Golden Era, despite not being a Muslim herself. She prided herself on giving credit to those who deserved more but had their work stolen by Europeans. But then, when she went on that Egypt and Greece dig she had found something that unnerved her. I knew what it was, and I wish I hadn't either. My happy thoughts turn sour, and I can feel myself grimace. I am tired...so tired.
"You made it, It's good to see you here." my head whips around falling on emerald eyes.
"Yeah, I had already told Molly that she could take me to the next party she goes to. However, I didn't know that if you came with an invite and not a plus one that you had to sit at a separate table." He snorts and sits down to my right.
"You were originally sat by her but father assumed I needed a friend," He shows me a card with his name on it. "so he changed Grayson out for you."
"Do you not have friends?"
"None close by."
"When have I accepted you as a friend?" He smiles
"That is a good question, but the same goes for me, you more someone I tolerate."
"Same here, Besides your a bad influence."
"tsk,...touche." his gaze looks me up and down and I have the sudden urge to say 'eyes up here'.
"You look tired, would you like to go to the library?"
"Usually libraries and tired people don't mix."
"How about a tour then, we have several artifacts my father has purchased that you might find interesting." He pushes harder.
"You want an excuse to leave, don't you? I thought my main purpose for being here was to talk to Mr.Wayne, not venture into the mansion." He sighs with his own body, visibly exaggerating the movements.
"My father is deeply preoccupied already in another engagement, he won't even be here for hours. Would you prefer to stay here doing nothing or would you like to leave?" He sounds rather annoyed while looking off to his left and scowling more. I follow my eyes to a group of three who I recognize from the cafe, all of them are pointing and smirking. I being to feel more drained at the thought of them coming here and stand. "Your home, where to first?" He shoots up, grabbing my hand dragging me through the dense crowd of people.

"Amazing, this would date back to the early years of feudal Japan, this is Greek! Oh! There's a Khopesh and a Canaan Sickel sword on this wall!"
Damian scoffs sounding more like a laugh than a mocking tone. "You can tell the difference." I give him a look, feeling offended.
"Of course I can, you mostly can tell by the markings on the blade." I turn my head back to the wall slowly pointing to the distinguishable pieces of evidence. "This one is older Hebrew, and here you can see small hieroglyphics depicting the sun. Plus the metals on each blade are very different." I tilt my head back to him, his face stays indifferent. "You knew that already didn't you?" He nods and walks again.
"You must really like history, seems like you could talk about it none stop." He calls back.
"Did you forget who my mother was?"
"I thought she specialized in the Islamic golden era."
"It didn't mean she didn't know the history of other peoples. My mother developed research of anything she could get her hands on." I pause for a minute. "What about you, where did you learn."
"I was taught by some of the best in the world, my mother made sure of it."
"I see." We talk more while examining the objects displayed, I had fun just listening to him explain how his father got some of them. Though the collection wasn't huge it still made me a bit happy to see the objects. My phone buzzes, and I quickly take it out of my pocket.
Molly: Hey where are you we need to get going!
Molly: Dad got too drunk and now he's crying about the world.
Molly: We will be outside, Be there.
"Sorry, I have to get going, I'll see you at school later!" I run through the hall and snag as many macarons as I can on the way out. Molly waves from the car opening the door so I slide in faster.

"Sorcerer found. Name: Doctor Fate, Subject: host"
"Anyone else?"
"Database shows,... John Constantine, and Zatanna. All other information is unavailable."
"Gather what they have on the crows send probes if you must."
"Proceeding."
Nightmare stands by the window waiting for his queue. I pull a scale out from the box and open the window. I hand him the scale and he chews effectively destroying the small miracle. "Remember stay out of sight if someone spots you wipe it from their memory and if you see a crow take the fight to the in-between and go for the kill. You have a little bit of my power with you only use it when needed." He purrs, rubbing his head on my hand, then jumps. He vanishes. I sigh putting the device in the box marked with an X just in case and push it under my bed. I head out into my living room putting some things away and cleaning here and there. Proud of my work I turn on the TV and sprawl on my sofa with a bowl of popcorn. Reruns of Highlander play on one of my favorite channels, I smile at my luck and sing to the theme song.
*Thunk thunk thunk*
I jump at the sound, I hear the noise again and follow it to my kitchen bat in hand. I flip on the light and smack my face, a very wet robin scowls at me through the glass. Only then did I notice the rain, and I pray that Nightmare is staying safe. I open the door and let him in, he mutters a thank you while walking in dipping water on my floor.
"Not to be rude, but is there something you need?" He ignores me and continues dragging water on the floor to the living room.
"Robin?" I catch up to him, he pulls something out from his ear and stuffs it in his pocket.
"I would like to stay here for a little while"
"How long is a little while, will I need to pull out the bed in the couch?" He gives me a look.
"There's a bed in your couch?"
"Sometimes I want to watch TV while I do my homework, laying down here makes it easier." I go to the bathroom to pull out some towels.
"Where was this when I was heavily injured?"
"I'm sorry, but the fact that you were bleeding was more concerning. I also put new sheets on the bed and you broke a perfectly good window. There is still blood on my cushions, and you wanted me to place you on the bed?" grabbing the biggest fluffiest towel in the bunch walking back out to the living room.
"You still on about that?"
"It was expensive!" I hold out the towel, he takes it and places his yellow cape in my hand. I frown but head to the coat rack hanging the heavy fabric on the highest rung. I feel short noticing its length, I turn back to Robin who's sat down on the couch the large towel engulfing him completely minus his hair. The black strands stuck oddly to his face and drooped sadly, I almost laugh because he looks like a sad cat. Like Nightmare whenever I give him a bath, I think I have a picture of that somewhere. "Did you want something to drink or eat?"
"Why is it that every time I come here you offer something?"
"It's a hospitality thing I got living in Minnesota, it's just being nice. Besides, you work to protect people, don't you? It only makes sense that I offer you something, I doubt you get paid to do your job. I bet you have countless scars from just doing so, I can do my part and help you feel comfortable. Call it a form of respect."
"Tsk."
I stroll into the kitchen, "Well, I suppose I could give some soda, tea, or water after all you left plenty on the floor."
"What happened to respect?"
"Well, I have feelings to sir! Tossing my words aside like that, I shouldn't even feed you." I poke my head back out, I smile at his scowl while he in turn glares at me. "Now for once, I am out of tea but I have several cans of cherry coke and some popcorn and macarons from a party I went to earlier. How about that?"
"That's fine." I hum grabbing what I needed and plopped back down in my seat handing him the coke. I place the brightly colored macarons and some chips I found between us along with the popcorn. I let myself get absorbed into the Highlander again just as MacLeod beheads another immortal and gains his Quickening.
"What is this?" My Jaw drops while I look at him concerned.
"Just how uncultured are you." His face flushes and his face twists he opens his mouth but i stop him. "Say no more, I will be right back." I come out with my computer and pull up VUDU opening season one of the show. "Sit back buckaroo, now your in for the long haul. Now right now all you need to know is 'There can only be one." His face contorts in confusion, but gives in and moves closer.
"I'm not going to get in trouble with Batman am I." He smirks.
"Most likely."
"Dammit."

âWhen Balto was destroyed, we didnât know what happened to you. But here you are, youâre back.âÂ
Okay, yâall, Iâmmabout to put ya on a feels trip! But first, letâs go over a few things, okay? Now, my memory ainât the best. But there are two things dwelling on my mind from when I watched DotU. First off, about Coranâs son. Yes, I know, in GoLion, his son and wife died, but in DotU it was said they were sent to another dimension for their protection. Okay, letâs put that on the backburner. Now for the main thing. If I recall correctly, in DotU, though I sadly canât remember what episode, Pidge was helping out a little girl when the people of Arus were rounded up and she got separated from her mother. Tammy was it? I donât remember and thatâs not important. What is, though, is my hopefully accurate recollection of Pidge saying that she reminded him of his kid sister. But after that episode, there was no mention, if memory serves me right, of a kid sister. Only Chip. Now, we know that Voltron Force 2011 is not a direct sequel to DotU, especially when we look at Chipâs life on Balto and not with the Vehicle Voltron team; in fact, there doesnât appear to be a vehicle team at all. But, it is a pseudo-sequel so some things from DotU could very well be relevant to VF.Â
This, my dears, is where things get important and we go on a trip. Now, my brain had thoughts around Balto; I donât know if others had the same or if I saw it somewhere and I donât remember, but here we go. Balto was originally destroyed. Older and earning fame and fortune as the DJ of Stereolactic, Pidge was able to work to establish life upon a new, uninhabited planet, named after their destroyed planet of Balto. This would include finding the survivors who did escape before their original home was destroyed. Which seems nice. Now here comes the potential feels. Pidge and Chip. What if, in addition to being twins, they did have a kid sister. And that sister was Katie. Yes, the Katie we know (though sorta for such AU) and love from VLD. They both adored her. But they were both away, Pidge on Arus after being captured by the Drules and then escaping with the rest of his team, and Chip, in such case, probably training on Earth for a period of time with the Galaxy Alliance. Katie was on Balto, writing to them both and waiting for their return. Baltoâs final moments. Katie does escape, but something goes wrong. The ship/pod sheâs in goes off course and hits a sort of rift where it somehow goes into a different reality. The VLD reality. Where sheâs alone, scared, doesnât know where sheâs at, and ends up on Earth. She knows Earth, but she is quick to realize that this Earth isnât the Earth her brothers would talk about in her writings. She easily deduces that by observing how others act, especially in their understanding of space and the fact that they havenât even reached Pluto and Kerberos. Sheâs alone on an alien world in an alien reality.Â
Katie just keeps herself in her own little bubble, being an orphan in a strange place. She doesnât end up talking about where sheâs from or the fact that she isnât Earthling (or fully? Are they fully Balton? Oh well...). Sheâs alone. Until the Holts adopt her. Perhaps they wanted another child and were seeking to adopt already? Or perhaps she saw Matt in passing and thought he was Pidge for a moment and got excited. But heâs not Pidge. He just looks like him. But from there, she bonds with the Holt family and they end up adoption her at some point.Â
Some ideas are vague. But perhaps Katie knows sheâs adopted, but she stops thinking/remembering that sheâs Balton, even with the ears. Perhaps she starts thinking that the twins she âremembersâ were just imaginary friends she made up when she was scared? This could be due to the stress she first felt when she arrived. And being called Pidge. For whatever reason, Matt decided to call her Pidge. But she couldnât understand why she didnât want to be called that if she lost her memory. If this idea if worked on more, Iâll figure out the details. But in the end, she expresses annoyance to being Pidge. Until Matt and Sam leave for the Kerberos mission years later. She decides to let him call her that and she holds onto that name, knowing it felt important.Â
So, we go through the same events and before we know it, Pidge is a paladin of Voltron with the others. Probably at some point, the others find out sheâs not exactly human and sheâs just as surprised. And possibly what she is isnât in the castleâs database so sheâs left with so many questions. Until a mission takes them to another reality where the paladins are separated and scattered across the galaxy. VLD Pidge ends up on either Arus or Balto; Iâm thinking Balto now so Chip can call up the force and get their input because heâs confused as heck at the sight of another (and bigger) green lion.Â
Prior to VLD Pidge crashing, VF Pidge and Chip had always worried about and thought about their sister, wondering what became of her. They often hoped to find any sign of her. Perhaps even using music with Stereolactic if one of the songs was a song/story they would sing/tell Katie back when they were all together. But years go by and thereâs no sign. They sometimes feared the worst. And then they see her exit the green lion after VF Pidge arrives on Balto to investigate. VLD Pidge realizes they were real all along and even share the same features she does (in this case, pointed ears and orange freckles). And they see that sheâs alive and well. And theyâre happy.Â
Okay, that was a lot. I probably should have put it in a âkeep readingâ, but oh well. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this. Or at least the art. I almost kinda wanna work on the ideas more. Well, until next time!

Cresswell + domesticity đ
I LOOOVE Cresswell being domestic. I think thatâs at least half the reason I wrote âMasksâ and had be them newlyweds in that story. đ So I really love this prompt especially because itâs, I assume, about canon-Cresswell?
---
A mug was waiting for her as she made her way towards the counter where the coffee machine was. Cress remembered how she, upon her first few days on the ship, had tip-toed through the Rampion, almost afraid to make a sound and disturb the rest of the crew.
Now, the Rampion was her home, the first real one she ever had.
And the mug was proof for that. It was her favourite one. It didn't look much different from the other military-issued ones in the cupboard but it fit into her hand perfectly when she held it. Next to it were a package of milk and a sugar cube.
Just the way she liked her coffee. Or learned to like. She hadn't been impressed by the first bitter taste she had but the subsequent energy boost it had given her had been too good to pass up to - cream and milk definitely helped with the taste as well.
Her heart warmed at the kind gesture. For the girl who, for so many years, didn't exist in databases or records, there was nothing more wonderful than to know that someone thought of her even when she wasn't there. That she mattered to someone who cared about trivial things like her favourite cup and coffee preferences.
There was no sign of Thorne but she could hear a faint humming from the direction of the bathroom.
She poured herself a cup of coffee, added the sugar and milk and tried a first sip. Perfect. Balancing the mug to the couch, careful not to spill anything, she sat down comfortably.
Pulling out her portscreen, Cress went over her new notifications, enjoying the silence as she waited for Thorne.
---
Thorne hummed a little melody, only faintly aware it was a song Cress often sang when she worked. He had always sung or hummed but the opera tunes were new, thanks to Cress.
Spreading a copious amount of product between his hands, he worked it onto his slightly wet hair with the ease of someone who had this routine down pat. They had no plans to leave the Rampion until late afternoon but that's how Thorne liked to start his day - with a hot shower, expensive soap and just enough time to make himself look good that made it seem like he didn't invest any time at all.
Remembering the small bottle of cologne he bought on his last shopping trip with Cress, he scanned the cabinet for the bottle. Not too long ago, only his belongings were stored here.
But that was before Cress.
Now, there was second toothbrush, a porcelain jar with little birds painted on it that contained hairbands and bobby pins, a cream for sensitive skin with some UV protection, mascara. Anti-frizz lotion for wavy hair on the second shelf to the right. A wayward bracelet that lay forgotten next to the shower. A small bottle of perfume, the design distinctly feminine in contrast to his rather plain cosmetics.
Small things overall but a clear reminder that there was someone on this ship that shared his space, his life.
When he looked back at the mirror, he saw his reflection smiling back at him.
---
A new netdrama had popped up on her netscreen and the trailer looked promising enough. After being out in the real world, netdramas didn't hold her attention the same way they used to but they were still enjoyable for a rainy night, engulfed in her boyfriend's arms ... before they got more interested in each other than whatever it was that played on the screen.
The fresh scent of pine and bergamot filled the room before she felt a kiss pressed to the top of her head.
"Good morning, love."
Cress glanced up with warm cheeks. "Good morning, captain." She knew he liked her saying that though lately, in moments just between the two of them, there were hushed whispers of "Crescent" and "Carswell" in-between languid kisses and heated touches. "You're up early."
He shrugged before plopping on the couch next to her. "Not really. You just slept later than usual and I didn't want to wake you. We're still waiting for landing permission from the army base. Any news?"
Cress checked her portscreen when Thorne took her mug to take a sip of her coffee. "There's still coffee left, should I bring you a cup?"
"I'm good. Already had one and I don't need my heart racing like a podship." He grinned at her. "At least, not because of an overdose of caffeine. But if you want to speed up my heart by any other means ...," he trailed off, his eyebrows waggling.
Leaning over, hands on his chest to steady her, she pressed her lips to his. As always, he was warm and his lips soft against hers. She allowed herself a few playful pecks at the corner of his mouth and the bottom lip before pressing herself closer to him.
Thorne, eager to reciprocate, quickly put her mug on the table next to him, leaving his hands free to roam her back. Their kiss deepened and she could taste hints of coffee and toothpaste and she curled her fingers into his shirt when he moved his mouth just so.
She broke the kiss with a hushed gasp, his hands gripping her hips tightly as if to pull her closer again.
"How is that for a racing heart, captain?" Cress asked, her lips still tingling. She had become more confident in the last few months together, allowed herself more often to take the lead in their relationship and she was rewarded by the dazed look on Thorne's face.
"Aces, Cress." He took a deep breath. "A podship race has nothing on you."
Laughing, Cress gave him another quick kiss, before pulling herself up. "Good to know. I'll get ready then. You're done with the bathroom, right? Did you leave any hot water for me?"
Thorne seemed suddenly very interested in the trailer that was still playing on mute on her portscreen. "Oh, look at that! We should definitely check this netdrama out-"
"Thorne!"
---
I hope itâs the domesticity fluff you wanted? ^-^ Thank you so much for the prompt, I really loved writing a cute canon-Cresswell drabble again.
#the lunar chronicles#tlc#cress#carswell thorne#cresswell#cresswell drabble prompts#i realised I put a lot of importance on cups/mugs#not only here but in masks too#I just love cups#and I think Cress would too and no I don't take criticism :P

The Funny Thing About Life
Summary: Dean struggles with the aftermath of a difficult event in his life involving reader. (Itâs super vague I know, but if I literally explain anything, itâs all spoilers. I swear itâs good)
Characters: Dean, Reader, Sam, Cas, OC!Leu, mentions of Ellen and Jo
Word Count: 5,300
Warnings: Angst up the wazoo, mild description of wounds, also some of the warnings are spoilers so Iâm putting them in the tags lol
Authorâs Note: Hereâs this fic that I wrote a few weeks ago. I havenât had a chance to post it till now. I was inspired after watching a youtuber play a game based on this concept. If anyoneâs curious about the theme I was going for, let me know. Iâm very glad to explain. I hope you guys like it, I havenât written Dean in years lol. I apologize in advance if itâs bad, Iâm not good at angst.
Death was inevitable. Dean knew that, Sam knew that, even Cas knew that but given the type of life they lived, they didnât know when it was going to be permanent or if it was just a never ending cycle of lost heartbeats and gasps for air. Sometimes death was permanent and there was nothing they could do about it, watching countless friends and family pass away right under their noses. Sam and Dean somehow always found a way to cheat death though. Come back and walk the earth as if they hadnât just been lifeless moments ago. Deal after deal after deal trying to protect each other from what was the inevitable end for the brothers. It wasnât until you had just danced your way into their lives that they started to value life for what it was without trying to die. You traveled with the brothers for years, keeping them company in the back of the impala, cracking horrible joke after joke, offering your candy to a grumpy dean, or just sleeping the previous hunt away. To the outside world, it probably wouldâve been weird just how comfortable the three of you became in a short amount of time but you just understood each other. The brothers had already lived a long and hard life before you came into the picture. They took their necessary precautions when it came to you but in a few short months, you had become one of their own.Â
Living a life with the Winchesters was tough and sometimes downright impossible but you proved loyal to them every moment you could, sticking by through their hardest moments. Dean became attached not only to your beautiful face and appealing form but to your kind soul, your caring nature, your inability to give up. If he was to be completely honest, he fell in love with you the moment he first met you but heâd never admit it. Heâll never admit how much your smile can brighten his days instantly, how your laugh is his favorite song over Zeppelin and Jovi, how every moment with you is his favorite. He always had it bad for you since the moment you joined his misshapen crew. Dean could never understand how lucky he got that you even glanced in his direction, let alone fall in love with him too. He was terrified at first. He knew he had destructive habits, moments of lost clarity where he wasnât himself truly. Having traveled with Dean for years before finding the bunker, you understood this, understood him. You were patient, loving, and Dean would never say it, but in a way you were his salvation. You showed him how to love himself first and how to better improve for himself and not only did he grow and achieve that, he learned how to truly love you.Â
âDean. Dean? Hey!â Dean snapped out of his thoughts of you to look up at Sam as he waved his hands in front of Dean trying to get his attention. Dean looked at Sam emotionless as Sam sighed, flipping his computer around to show Dean some camera footage. âThere was a sighting of a man and a woman in New Mexico and caught police attention. Here they are passing through a gas station.â Dean clenched his jaw as he watched the tape play, the man they had been tracking for weeks walking across the aisle, motioning towards the girl to grab food for herself. The girl looked timid, almost broken as she grabbed a few bags of snacks, and water. Even though the tape was grainy and just a bit laggy, he could see the shake in her hands, the tremble in her body, the way her eyes looked everywhere in desperation almost as if she was waiting for someone to save her. The girl looked up at the camera, her eyes wide and teary, one eye clearly bruised up, cheek swollen, lips parted from what only looked like constant abuse. Dean felt the anger boiling inside of him as he pushed the laptop back at Sam, a bit more forcefully than he meant. Sam only let out a quiet click of his tongue as he took his laptop back, scrolling through a few more camera feeds.Â
âWhen?âÂ
âTwo weeks ago.â Dean grabbed the whiskey bottle as he filled his cup back up, throwing the glass back, the amber liquid burning his throat. Dean let out a quiet hiss before moving to refill his glass once more.
âDean, how much have you drank?â
âDoes it matter?â
âYou know she wouldn-â
âDammit Sammy, sheâs not here is she?! Sheâs not here to tell me I shouldnât.â Dean growled out loudly as he stood, chest puffed out as his breathing became more ragged and hard with every breath he took. Sam said nothing as he stared his brother down, trying to get his thoughts together. Dean was tense and if Sam pushed him, heâd probably break and take it out on him and that last thing they needed was to waste time they could be using to find you.Â
âWeâll get her back, Dean. I know itâs only a matter of time but sheâll be home soon.â Dean only shook his head as he grabbed the whiskey bottle, leaving his cup on the table as he made his way towards his room which really was his and yours. Dean walked in, looking around, almost as if he was searching for you from instinct, searching for any movement, smell, any indication that you were in the room, hiding from him like you always did. He clenched his jaw, knowing you werenât there and he felt the tension building in his bones again at the reality of the situation as he took a large sip from the bottle, trying to drown everything with the golden liquid. He wanted to drown his memories of you, thoughts of you, the smell of you, and forget. Forget youâre gone, out of his reach, forget that he didnât protect you like he promised and had failed you.Â
A month had passed since you disappeared. Dean couldnât find you and after a week of no contact, he grew increasingly worried. It wasnât like you to leave without a notice, without a call, or a note, or even a text. Saying that Dean was losing his mind was the understatement of the year. No one had heard from you and not even Cas could tune into your location. Dean denied it. He denied any idea that you had abandoned him, that you were fed up with your life with the Winchesters. He denied the thought that you didnât love him anymore. Sam reassured him constantly that there was no way you had left him, that you were just as love sick as Dean.Â
Another week passed and nothing. That was until Sam found something, or in this case, he was sent something. A video. Dean threw up after the first few minutes of watching the video and he couldnât stomach watching the rest, leaving Sam to have to watch it, searching for any clues that could aid the brothers. The video was of you, bound and bloody, screaming into a mouth gag as the hooded man carved into your skin, making you sing songs that Dean would gladly never, ever listen to again. You looked like you had gone through hell and back. The man laughed in the video as he finally showed his face. âHello Deaaanie! Youâre probably wondering who I am. You can call me Leu.â The man chuckled as he moved closer to your exhausted form, wincing as he grabbed your chin hard, making you face the camera. âSay hello to your dear husband sweetie.âÂ
Your tired eyes fluttered for a few seconds before focusing on the camera. Your lips parted slightly as you took a deep breath. Your throat was sore, like you had swallowed knives from all the screaming. âDean, baby, donât.â Thatâs all that you managed to say before the man slapped you hard, knowing the few specs of oxygen out of your lungs, leaving you almost breathless as you tried to breathe.Â
âWell that was lame, I was expecting something more heartfelt. Oh well. Come and find me Dean.â The video went dark after that, Deanâs solemn and terrified face staring back at him. He grimaced and looked away, feeling the shame building inside of him more and more as the seconds passed by. He shouldâve protected you better, shouldâve been a better partner to you. Your blunt statement started ringing in his ears as he remembered what you said. Donât. He knew exactly what you were talking about but he couldnât bring himself to listen to you. How could you tell him not to when he had to and would. Sam had begun to do everything he could, tracing the video, searching for the mystery man in all of the databases, and unfortunately, re-watching the video for anything he missed, anything that could tip him off about your location.Â
Dean laid on his bed as he stared at the bottle of whiskey, his anger boiling inside of him, his inability of being able to find you, adding gasoline to the fire burning inside of him. Sam had found a lead though and it seemed promising. He was about to take another sip but the loud call of his name had him running down the bunker, towards the main room where Sam was typing away furiously into his computer. âDean, look at this.â Sam was about to show him another video feed before the video was interrupted, the skype window filling the whole screen, someone trying to call them. The name showed âUnknown Callerâ. Sam sighed as he pointed towards the screen. âThis is the third time this person calls.â
Dean grunted and clicked on the answer button ready to tell whoever was on the other end to go screw themselves but before the video loaded, there was a soft moan from a woman, one in pain, one Dean recognized all too well. The video loaded in and Dean was face to face with your broken body and the so-called Leu beside you. He had a large grin as he moved closer to the camera. âFinally! I really thought you were ignoring me for a second. Wouldnât want to make our dear Y/n worry.â
âSon of a bitch! Iâll kill you!â Dean roared out, almost tempted to punch the computer screen but Sam was very ready to contain his brother.
âNow now Deano, donât be so rude. We have a guest.â Leu walked closer to you, poking you with the knife in his hand. You stirred slowly, groaning as he touched another wound on your skin. You looked thinner, you clearly lost a lot of weight and that really worried Dean. âDonât you dare touch her.â
âA little late for that remark. I really think Iâve created a masterpiece. So many different hues of blue and purple but my favorite is red.â Leu began to drag his hand across your arm, pulling grunts of pain from you before chuckling quietly as he walked back towards the camera.Â
âWhat do you want?â Sam chimed up when he realized all of Deanâs focus was on you, watching as you struggled to breathe and move. Your bones ached with every movement and there was a point where you just stopped moving, the uncomfortable position better than the burning of your skin.Â
âI want you to suffer.â Leu smiled wide as he turned and motioned to you. âItâs pretty easy really. The cycle of life, if youâd like to give it an official name. â
âYou will pay for this. You will suffer as much as she has and worse.â
Leu let out a full belly laugh as he looked at the camera, wiping away fake tears. âOh wow Iâm definitely trembling in fear.â Both the brothers stared at Leu. If looks could kill, Leu wouldâve been assassinated gruesomely. â You canât hurt me but I can hurt you. Enjoy this moment because after this, you will never see her again.â Just before the camera cut out, Leu blinked his eyes portraying the black eyes that constantly mocked the brother their whole lives. Demon.Â
Dean felt his jaw clench and as he opened his mouth to speak, say anything, the call ended. The screen was blank and that was the last time he ever saw you just as Leu promised and that drove Dean just a bit closer to insanity. Dean didnât waste a single second before moving back to his room and hastily packing his bag, shaving any clothes he could get his hands on in it. He grabbed his weapons and anything else he needed before moving back towards the main room where a confused Sam sat, typing away at his computer. He looked up as Dean dropped his bag on the floor, moving towards the bookshelf looking for something he also needed.Â
âDean, donât.âÂ
âYou canât stop me Sammy.â
âShe wouldnât want this, you know that.â
âIâm leaving.â Finding what he needed, Dean grabbed his duffle bag from the floor before he hastily made his way to the garage. Sam knew better than to try to even reason with Dean. When it came to you, he would move heaven and hell a million times over to get to you. As Dean entered the garage, he threw his bag in the back of the impala, before slipping into the driverâs side, speeding out of the Bunker, a man on a mission. He knew the way to the crossroads like the back of his hand. He had done this countless times, he knew the drills. Crowley was no longer an option and he had to resort to old ways. Pulling up to the location, he moved on autopilot. He opened the trunk and pulled out a tin can, already prepared. Dean double checked it before making his way towards the middle. He set the trap in place before he dug the hole, burying the box.
âYou know, we had a bet going to see how long Iâd take for you to appear here.â Dean turned to face the Demon. Deanâs expression never faltered, if anything it became more menacing. The demon smirked as it watched Dean, walking around in the circle as she sighed, clearly already bored.
âThen you know why Iâm here.â
âYes⊠I do.â The demon moved closer to Dean, almost taunting him as her eyes flashed black. She chuckled quietly before clicking her tongue. âUnfortunately for you Winchester, I canât make the deal.â
âThen get me someone who can.â
âThatâs the thing pretty boy, we canât.â Dean felt his lip curl in anger as he tried to stay composed but it was getting harder with every second that passed that he wasnât getting what he needed.Â
âI donât want time, trade me for her.â
âIâm sorry Dean but no can do.â The demon was clearly amused and not an ounce of sympathy was in her actions. Dean licked his lips as he nodded his understanding. He rubbed his chin with his thumb before quickly turning and stabbing the demon straight in the gut. The demon flashed as it died on Deanâs blade but Dean showed no emotion. It didnât matter how long it took, he would find someone who could give exactly what he wanted and what he wanted was you, safe at home.Â
Demon kill after demon kill, Dean was relentless. Weeks and weeks of capturing and torturing any demon he could get his hands on. Then, they stopped appearing completely. The demons stopped appearing and Dean was losing his mind. He never had felt so out of loss of control as he did in that moment. He was sitting in his motel, staring at a photo he had of you and him. You were sitting at the bar table with Dean at your left side and Sam on your other. You all had chosen to stop at Ellen's for the night. Sam had gotten up to go to the restroom and left you and Dean at the bar. Dean thought it would be smart to say something funny and you were laughing hard as Dean watched you with a huge smile himself. Jo was working the bar and thought it was a cute sight and snapped a quick photo with her phone. Looking at the photo now, Dean realized this was when he really started falling in love with you. It was super obvious in the way he was smiling in the photo, watching you as you laughed your worries away. Dean ran his fingers across the creases the photo had from the wear and tear of being in his wallet. That moment felt like it was a lifetime ago when it really only was a few years old.Â
Dean took a deep breath as he gingerly put the photo back into his wallet before tossing it on his bed. He grabbed the bottle of whiskey he had bought earlier, popping the lid, and taking a big swig of it. The amber liquid burned his throat but he didn't care. He welcomed the pain. He welcomed any distraction from his reality. Dean was no stranger to depression and feelings of inadequacy but this was a whole new level of low. Everything he promised he would and wouldn't do, he had done and that wasn't his biggest failure. His biggest failure was keeping you to himself when he knew you were worth more than someone like him and here you were, paying the consequences for his inability to admit that to himself. Dean felt the anger slowly dissipating, being replaced with the sorrow your absence created. He never wanted to know what life was like without you and now he did. He hated it.Â
Dean never stopped looking for you. The days passed and he kept looking, pouring himself into his work, but each day, it was harder and harder for him. He'd drink his pain away, resort to the devil's liquid to get through his days. He became an empty shell of himself. Sam stopped calling after a few months of Dean ignoring his calls. Dean knew his brother deserved better too. It wasn't just losing you that affected him, it was losing his best friend, his hunting partner, his wife. Till death do you part. The few days he was conscious, those words rang through his head. Were you even alive? Had you escaped and just not come back? Was your body at the bottom of a lake? In a ditch? He didn't know and that's what sent him down his dark path.Â
After a year passed, his depression got worse but he knew he had to return home. He wasn't Dean anymore and he didn't think he would be again. He felt numb at best. Walking back into the bunker by himself, was a new slap to his face. This was it. He had to accept that you were gone and you weren't coming back. Sam heard the door and made his way to the stairs, staring at what was left of Dean. Dean was thinner, he had new scars, he looked like he hadn't slept in months, and his eyes were just different. "Hey Sammy."
Dean would like to say it happened quick, that he was okay within a year, but that would be a lie. It took him years before he could even say your name again. Sam had finished making dinner and they sat in the library in comfortable silence as they ate before Dean pulled out his wallet, pulling out the photo of the two of you, dropping it between the two on the table. Sam looked at the photo with furrowed brows before looking up at Dean silently asking about it. Dean cleared his throat as he tried to organize his thoughts but in reality, he didn't want to. He was tired. He just wanted to talk.Â
"Remember when we stopped at Ellen's? Y/n was just whining and whining about how much she missed her and Jo? She drove us crazy that whole drive?" Dean chuckled quietly as Sam nodded.Â
"She said she wouldn't be your friend anymore if we didn't stop there."
"I couldn't believe she had even said that. Thought I was having a nightmare."Â
"I mean, we both know she was just fibbing. Had she pushed just a bit more, you would've caved anyways."
"Yeah, she did have me wrapped around her finger, didn't she?"
Sam scoffed and smiled as he stared at the photo. "Since the first day we met her." Sam felt his smile falter a bit as he nodded towards the photo, his eyes flicking up to watch Dean, being careful with how he approached his next question. "Do you miss her?"
Dean felt his eyes water. He wasn't one to cry but when it came to you, the tears always flowed freely. "Always. Every day. I don't think I ever stop missing her."
"You haven't said her name since the day you came back."
"I know. I think I'm ready."
"To talk about her?"
"To let her go." Sam didn't need to ask what Dean meant. He knew exactly what it meant. Sam nodded his understanding before motioning for Dean to finish eating.Â
By the end of the day, both boys had organized everything they needed, standing in front of the Hunter's funeral they had created. They didn't have a body to burn but had replaced it with all of your favorite things, everything that made you you. There was a plate with your favorite food, your favorite shirt, and little things you loved to collect. Dean stared at it all. This was it. Sam waited for Dean to ask him to stop. When the minutes passed and he said nothing, he threw the lighter onto the wood, watching as it all engulfed in flames. Dean accepted your death and hoped that you were in heaven, enjoying yourself. You deserved it.Â
"Dean?"
"Yeah Sammy?"
"Wake up." Dean furrowed his brows as he looked over at Sam.Â
"What?"
"Dean, wake up!"Â
Dean jolted awake, pulling the gun out from under his pillow, aiming it at Sam's head as Sam jumped back with his hands in the air. "Woah woah!"
Dean groaned out as he put the gun down, sighing as he rubbed at his eyes. "What's going on Sam?"
Sam sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck, hating what he had to do. "Dean, come on. It's today." Dean felt the blood run cold inside of him as he looked up at Sam, feeling the anger raise in his blood.Â
"Is Y/n ready?" Sam swallowed thickly before nodding his head. He felt his throat closing up before clearing it.Â
"Yeah." Sam didn't want to talk more as he made his way out of Dean's room. Dean let his head fall back into his pillow as he stared at the ceiling. What a fucking nightmare he just had. He looked over at the picture frame he had on the small bedside table. He picked it up and stared at the photo before taking a deep breath.Â
"When I come back, I'll tell you all about the nightmare I had. You won't believe it. It felt so real." Dean kissed the frame softly before putting it back on the table. He got up and made his way to the closet, pulling out his fed suit. He remembered clearly that you had asked him to wear his best suit, he had to dress up fancy. You wouldn't accept anything less. He chuckled as he could hear your words echoing in his head. "You better look good Winchester or else you'll feel my wrath. I won't even make you pie for a whole month."Â
This feeling in Dean's chest was heavy, it felt like he had swallowed bricks and they were sitting in his lungs, ready to suffocate him. He grabbed a red tie you had bought him just for this. You had to match, you told him when you gave it to him. He stood in front of the mirror, going through the motions he knew all too well. Once he was done, he walked over to his dresser, slipping on his wedding band, smiling at the relief the known weight brought to him. Once he was ready he made his way outside where Sam, Cas, and you were waiting for him. He felt the breath in his lungs be knocked out of him as his eyes fell on you. You were wearing a beautiful red dress, your favorite dress. Your hair was curled and you weren't wearing any makeup, your natural beauty shining through. Dean swallowed thickly as he kept his eyes on you, committing the memory to sight.Â
Sam nodded his head to Dean before looking over at you, feeling the swell of emotions bursting in his chest. The weight of the lighter heavy in his palm. He took a deep breath and threw it, watching as you burst into flames from the moment it made contact with your skin. The three boys stood watch as you slowly burned away, moving on to heaven where you wouldn't suffer anymore. "Goodbye baby." Dean murmured as he watched the flames slowly die out. The sky trembled and within minutes, the rain poured onto the men but they didn't care.Â
"I'm sorry Dean."
"It's not your fault Cas."
"I should've done better.âÂ
"It's what she wanted Cas." Cas took a deep breath before turning back to the burned embers of where you used to be, of what's left of you.Â
"She deserved better than this."
"That's the funny thing about life isn't it?"
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
"What's your name Sweetheart?"
You chuckled as you pulled your knife out of the monster you had just killed. "Wouldn't you like to know sweet cheeks?" Dean chuckled as he licked his lips. Sam joined the both of you as you all made sure there were no more threats. "But if you really long for this information, I'll indulge you. It's Y/n."
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .Â
"Dean?"
"Yeah sweetheart?"
"This isn't a one time thing right?" Dean frowned as he looked down at you as you laid on his bare chest. The fact that you even had to ask him hurt his heart. He knew in that moment he wanted nothing more than for you to wake up everyday in his arms.Â
"Of course not. It never was." Dean kissed your head gently and you hummed your appreciation, slowly succumbing to sleep in his hold.Â
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
"Dean we need to talk."
"You can't break up with me. We're already married." You let out a choked laugh as you tried to think of the best way to tell him.Â
"I need you to be serious with me for a second." Dean felt cold. Whenever you said something like this to him, it was never good news. He didn't say anything and you took a deep breath, unknowingly speaking what would be your demise. "The doctor called me today."
"And?"
"I tested positive."
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
"So when do you start losing your hair?" You chuckled quietly as Cas grabbed your hair, looking at it like it would attack him.Â
"When I start treatment. Doc said it would be aggressive." Dean sighed as he held your hand and you looked at him with a soft smile.Â
"There's still time."Â
"No Dean besides, I'm okay with it. I'm not scared to die."Â
"But I'm scared to lose you."
"I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere." As much as Dean would've loved to push you, he knew he needed to support any decision you made. He owed you that much as much as he hated it.Â
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
"We should name it."
"Name what?"
"My sickness duh." Dean looked at you like you grew a second head and you laughed. "Don't look at me like that?"
"Why do you want to name it?" Sam was also looking at you the way Dean was and you rolled your eyes, poking at your food with your fork. As the time passed, it was getting harder and harder for you to eat but Dean pushed you, trying to get you to eat anything.Â
"To make it normal. For me."Â
Dean took a deep breath as he watched you poke your food before licking his lips. "Alright, I'll bite. What do you want to name it?"
"Well I don't want to name it something outrageous. I was thinking about Leu. "
"Leu?"
"Short for Leukemia. I thought it was clever."
Dean smiled slightly as he nodded. "Very clever."
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
"Dean?"
"Yeah sweetheart?"
"Promise me that if you see a girl in a bar and she's hot you'll go for it."
"Now's not the time for jokes." You coughed quietly as you tried your best to scowl at him.Â
"I'm not joking. I'm serious. I want you to have a life after me, after all of this."Â
"There's nothing after you."
"Don't be such a romantic and promise me you'll live your life when I'm gone."
Dean sighed and remembered his promise to support what you wanted. "I'll try."
"Good. You need some friends." Dean laughed as he moved to get comfortable. Sitting next to the bed where you lay, surrounded by tubes and wires wasn't the best place for comfort but he didn't care. Before he could respond, your nurse came in to check on you for the night.Â
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
The day you passed away, Dean was in shock, numb to the world. He never thought it would happen. A whirlwind of doctors running into the room, pushing him out so they could try to revive you, except they couldn't. You signed a DNR. Dean was left with himself, having to watch as you took your last breath. The loud dinging of your heart monitor making him feel like he'd lost his hearing, forever cursed to hear that sound. He didn't sleep that night. He couldn't. Returning to an empty bed, a bed you belonged in, was the icing on top of the shit cake he was handed. He broke a lot of furniture that night.Â
. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
"Yeah, I guess it is." Dean felt his lungs cut off his air as flashes of memories of you played throughout his head. Sam patted Dean on his shoulder, relaying his silent support. Dean nodded towards him in thanks. The sound of Sam's boots crunching in the dirt sounded behind Dean as Cas moved to stand next to Dean.Â
"Did you dress her?"
"Sam couldn't and asked me to. She picked a nice wig. Itâs really close to her natural hair."
"Thanks Cas, really."
Cas stayed quiet as he looked at the burnt spot on the floor. He didn't want to leave his friend alone, not during his weakest moments. He knew Sam left because he didn't want to cry with Dean around, it wasn't about him, it was about Dean. Cas smiled slightly as he thought of you. "You can go inside Cas."
Cas nodded as he pat Dean in the back. "I'll be inside."
Dean stared at the floor, the rain completely drenching him. His hair was matted to his head and a slight breeze made his teeth chatter but he couldn't move. He had to stay around just a bit more. His eyes were glued to the ash on the floor. He took a deep breath as his fingers fumbled with his wedding band, trying to figure out what to say. âI know I said Iâd tell you about my nightmare later but I think now is a good time. Youâll probably laugh but it started with me and Sammy..â

Getting Ashton for Secret Santa is both a blessing and a curse: a blessing because Michael already knows what he wants to give him, a curse because he wants to give him the world. Â Well, more accurately he wants to give him the entire universe.
Ashton Irwin is arguably the universeâs finest creation, founded on stardust and made up of infinite galaxies. Â Michael has been in love with him since around the time they met. Â Ashton deserves something as wonderful and celestial as himself, but that would require Michael to suddenly develop the ability to trap the universe in the palm of his hands, cradled close until he could hand it off to someone worthy enough to hold it. Â Even if he could, the universe seems like a fragile thing. Â Heâd probably drop it, knowing him.
Maybe getting Ashton was more of a curse than a blessing. Â If he canât give him some sort of celestial body, heâs out of ideas. Â Itâs probably for the best, because heâs not exactly keen on letting Ashton know that heâs been in love with him for so long, and you canât give someone the entire universe without prompting a few questions.
He seeks out Calum for advice, because Calum is great at gifts, but he doesnât want him to know who he got so he asks what he would give Luke instead.
It turns out Calum is so great at gifts because he knows exactly what each person needs. Â Knowing what Luke needs does nothing to help Michael figure out what to get Ashton.
Michael spends a lot of time googling stuff like good gifts for friends and good gifts for crushes and then backtracks, because most of those imply that he would be revealing his crush. Â The search for good gifts for someone youâre in love with who is also one of your best friends WITHOUT letting them know you love them but still the best present yields no useful results. Â Michael doesnât want to regurgitate generic âsentimentalâ gifts suggested in lists on various websites, he wants something that Ashton will truly appreciate. Â He wants to get him something that only someone who knows him would give him.
Heâs pretty sure buying presents isnât supposed to make you want to pull out all of your hair, but Michael wants to pull out all of his hair. Â The one solace is that they selected their people early, so he still has a lot of time to figure out a suitable present.
-/-
Michael mostly forgets about the stresses of Secret Santa for a while. Â He has to get presents for other people, too, so he focuses on that, and decorating the house, and baking some Christmas cookies, and everything except Ashtonâs present. Â Unfortunately, this means that by the time Ashton hosts his yearly Itâs a Wonderful Life watch party, itâs late enough that Michael should start panicking a little.
Each year, Ashton invites as many friends as can fit in his basement over to watch his favorite Christmas movie. Â He used to watch it with his mom every year, and even though they live physically far apart he once told Michael that it makes him feel closer to her. Â Over the years, the night has turned into an entire event. Â Ashton sets up a projector and prepares more snacks than can be eaten. Â Michael attends every year, even though the movie seems to get longer every time he watches it. Â Last year he kept dozing off, enough so that Ashton had let him curl on the couch with his head in his lap and sleep for most of the second half. Â The weight of Ashtonâs hand resting on his shoulder and the occasional gentle fingers brushing over his hair are something Michael thinks about often.
This year he ends up in an armchair, Luke between his legs on the floor and Ashton all the way on the other side of the room. Â It makes him focus on the movie a bit more, and during the scene where George asks what Mary wants and says heâll lasso the moon Michael thinks yeah dude, you get it.
Unfortunately he is not George and Ashton is not Mary, and by the time he leaves his house that night, lingering late enough that Ashton offers to let him stay, he is no closer to figuring out his gift.
-/-
Michael canât lasso the moon, but maybe he was onto something there.
He canât stop thinking about space. Â Ashton has always had an appreciation for it, but since his trip to the desert where he was finally able to see the Milky Way unobstructed heâs developed a new fascination with it. Â Heâs not going to be an astronomer, but he knows more about constellations than Michael does, and he knows a lot about astrology even if he doesnât fully believe in it.
Michael has wanted to give him the universe this entire time. Â Maybe instead of finding a different present, he should focus on figuring out a way to do that.
Maybe he should just get Ashton one of those model solar system kits that kids assemble for science projects. Â That would be giving him the universe in a punny way that he might appreciate, but then heâll have to explain that give you the universe was his original goal, which will still prompt questions. Â Without that sentiment, itâs kind of a crummy gift.
He needs something that isnât punny but that manages to accomplish his goal without revealing that heâs in love. Â Heâll find a way to accomplish that out of sheer stubbornness if he has to.
-/-
Schedules donât properly align for a full group Secret Santa exchange, so everyone is tasked with contacting their present recipient and setting up a time to give them their gift. Â Michael sends Ashton a text that reads hey when do you want your secret santa present and gets a string of emojis in response. Â Eventually he manages to wrangle a time from him and loads the present into his car.
Itâs a decent gift, in his opinion. Â Heâs both relieved and nervous about having to give it to Ashton without the full group, because thereâs significantly less people who can judge him but thereâs significantly more opportunity for Ashton to ask uncomfortable questions.
The drive feels longer than it should. Â That doesnât bode well.
Michael lets himself in once he gets to the house, because thereâs no telling where inside Ashton might be. Â He calls his name and gets an answer in the direction of the bedroom, toeing off his shoes and getting rid of his coat before setting off towards his destination. Â Ashton is sitting on the bed, scribbling something furiously in a journal. Â Michael waits until heâs done and tosses the small leather book aside to fully enter the space.
âHi,â Ashton says, beaming.
âHi,â Michael says. Â âSpecial delivery.â
The package in his hands is rectangular and flat, covered with shiny red and green paper. Â Ashton eyes it curiously, taking it when offered and frowning at the weight.
âThereâs a few parts, so be careful,â Michael says.
âI will.â
Ashton tears through the paper inelegantly, strips of it floating down to the floor, and Michael watches him read the framed certificate on top.
âI got you a star,â Michael says. Â âThatâs the certificate for it, and itâs under your name in a database. Â Thereâs a star map, so you can try to find it the next time you have a clear sky.â
âMichael, this is amazing,â Ashton says, aglow with enthusiasm. Â âThis is so fucking cool!â
He looks at the star map, eyes tracking over the many tiny dots on it and the one circled thatâs his.
âWow. Â My very own star.â
It wasn't quite the whole universe or lassoing the moon, but Michael thinks he did alright given the circumstances.
The next frame is a bit bigger, a blue background with a white star chart and lettering at the bottom that reads July 7, 1994 - a star is born.
âTell me something, boy,â Ashton croons. Â âWhich one of us is Lady Gaga and which one of us is Bradley Cooper?â
âNeither of us,â Michael sighs. Â He wants to facepalm. Â He knew this was a risk when he put that inscription. Â âDid you even watch that movie? Â You want us to end up like them?â
âNo,â Ashton says.
âYouâre the star,â Michael says. Â âItâs a map of the sky when you were born. Â I thought it was a fitting caption.â
âAw,â Ashton says. Â âThatâs the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.â
âYou donât have to make fun,â Michael says, embarrassment flaring inside him. Â This was a last-minute decision off one of those generic lists, and heâs regretting it. Â Getting teased for his crush was not something he anticipated nor wanted today, especially since Ashton should know better.
âIâm not making fun,â Ashton says, tearing his eyes away from the chart to look up at Michael and frown. Â âYou just compared me to an actual celestial body. Â Thatâs really fucking sweet. Â The only thing sweeter would be if someone wrote me a proper love song.â
Michael could try his hand at that.
He shrugs.
âItâs almost romantic,â Ashton says. Â Michaelâs breath freezes in his chest. Â Ashton puts the gifts down on his bed and shifts so he can face Michael fully, eyes assessing.
âDo you have feelings for me?â he asks.
Brush it off, Michael tells himself. Â Laugh and call him bro and say you donât.
There seems to be a communication delay between his mind and his body, because Michael doesnât do any of those things. Â He stands there like a deer in headlights, paralyzed the longer Ashton looks at him.
âItâs okay if you do,â Ashton says. Â âI just want to know.â
Well what the fuck is he supposed to say to that?
No!
What comes out sounds more like a choking cat.
âOkay,â Ashton says. Â âYou want to sit down?â
Again the answer is no, but that word seems to have left his vocabulary, so he sinks onto the bed next to Ashton. Â He reaches out a gentle hand and places it on his forearm.
âYou know, you not saying anything is making me nervous, but Iâm just going to keep going. Â You can tell me to stop at any time,â Ashton says. Â âI like you, and Iâve been getting the impression that you like me, too. Â If thatâs wrong, then correct me, but if thatâs right then you donât have to be embarrassed or upset, because itâs mutual.â
Michael turns the words over in his head, giving them a second perusal to ensure he had heard correctly.
âWhat?â
âOh, he speaks,â Ashton says dryly.
âI was not picking up any vibes from you,â Michael says. Â âNow you expect me to believe you like me?â
âWell itâs not like I wanted you to know,â Ashton says. Â âSeriously, do you think I let anyone sleep through Itâs a Wonderful Life? Â You got lucky last year because I like you.â
Now that he thinks about it, Ashton might have a point. Â Other people who doze off get food thrown at them with the excuse that they should have stayed home if they were planning on sleeping.
âHuh,â Michael says.
âSo,â Ashton says, âdo you like me? Â You never actually confirmed it.â
âOh. Â Yeah, I guess.â
âYou guess?â
âLook, Iâm processing a lot right now. Â I bought you a fucking star, Ashton. Â Use your context clues.â
âUse my context clues? Â What are you, my literature teacher?â
âWhat about your boyfriend?â
Nice. Â That was smooth.
Ashton smiles. Â Just like that, the bridge Michael was standing on made of their banter melts into a gooey mess, dropping him into a bunch of sappy feelings below. Â He could bask in that smile forever, shining brighter than all of the stars in the sky.
âThat sounds good to me,â Ashton says. Â Michael smiles shyly back, something that makes Ashtonâs eyes crinkle at the edges. Â He reaches out and squeezes his hand, something heâs going to be able to do freely now, and Ashton tangles their fingers together.
All things considered, Michael thinks he one-upped George Bailey here. Â George said he was going to lasso the moon and then didnât even do that. Â Michael bought Ashton a whole fucking star and got his own star in return. Â Heâs probably the luckiest man in the universe.

PART THREE OF MOMENTS IN-BETWEEN!!
Rating: PG
Word Count: 2.6k AO3 link
Content: light angst, themes of anxiety, fluff, bonding, found family, subtle dinmera :), din learns how to communicate with kids
Summary: Â Soft moments between Din and Grogu that the audience does not get to see In-between episodes, scenes, and seasons. Â
A/N: this one is lighter/sillier than previous chapters, also there will be multiple Sorgan chaps owo
***
The kid wonât stop following Din.Â
He doesnât get it at first. If heâs being honest, he unconsciously expected to put the child down and come back to the child sitting right where he left it. The realization is slightly embarrassing. Of course, a baby isnât going to sit nicely without supervision... even an odd baby with strange powers and the highest bounty Din has ever seen.
The child isnât dumb or animalistic; Din knows that his physical growth relative to mental growth must be far slower than other species, especially since the kid has toddler-like mannerisms yet possesses enough strength to lift a full-grown Mudhorn with his mind.Â
Din tries to not think about that, itâs too confusing to consider while he juggles running for his life. The child's powers donât lend him self-sufficiency, the kid still needs help with feeding, bathroom breaks, and keeping clean. Din is struck over and over again with the realization that this child will rely on him for, well, everything.Â
Even after choosing to lose everything for the kid, the reality of his situation is overwhelming enough to cause him some anxiety. The child will continually look to him for nourishment, entertainment, and probably affection. Definitely affection. Heâs already seeking that comfort with the way he looks at Din, face so full of trust that it is almost uncomfortable to witness. The kid mirrors the bounty hunterâs actions, playing with the switches on the Crest console and attempting to follow him wherever he goes.Â
He stubbornly waddles in Dinâs shadow even after they landed on Sorgan, making his way through the lush woods on tiny limbs. Din learns to slow his pace once the kid falls a little too far behind.Â
This planet is lovely. It is such a shame that they canât stay. Warm, late-summer light breaks through the forest canopy to speckle the forest floor as if the lightbox antics from the night before have manifested in reality. The kid is just as distracted by the real thing, chasing the sunbeams and occasionally wandering to the side of the beaten path in a manner that makes Din nervous. He feels like he could blink and the baby will be lost in the underbrush. Once they get back to the ship Din will sit him down and have a chat about that habit. Hopefully, the little one will understand well enough to stick closer to him on their next excursion.Â
He pauses in the shadowy path, smiling when a small bump at his ankle tells him the kid is keeping pace. He looks down and meets the babyâs dark eyes, the emotion within them is feverishly excited. The child babbles and points into the trees, swirling his hands around with an animated flair to gesture at everything and nothing. Din guesses he is trying to describe the woods.
The bounty hunter crouches down and listens attentively to the kids ranting, his large dark eyes so emotive that the language barrier is all but eliminated. Both the baby and Mandalorian nod and look around with exaggerated motions, the child's excited attitude rubbing off on him. Din doesnât want to interrupt the moment but he knows they need to keep going if they want to make it back to the ship before dark. Theyâre still being hunted.Â
The bounty hunter straightens with a heavy breath, settling his hands on his hips. âCome on little one. It will be dark soon.â The baby clutches Dinâs calf and keens, a high whining sound that plucks the manâs heartstrings. The poor child is having so much fun here. For the millionth time, Din wishes that they could stay on Sorgan. If the baby werenât under his care then he would just take down the shock trooper and claim the planet for his hideout⊠Unfortunately, that would bring too much heat onto the pair.Â
Din tries again to convince the baby, raising his voice an octave to sound more excited, hopefully, it will catch the kidâs attention. âIâll give you a treat when weâre back. Howâs that sound, huh?âÂ
It works, he thinks. The baby perks his ears up and lets out a curious coo, backing up from Dinâs legs and looking down the path. Din smiles again then starts up his pace again, a little faster now that the sunshine has taken on a deeper hue.Â
They make good time, traveling several miles before dusk falls and the forest lays in shadow. It is a bit eerie now, bird song and animal calls have all but disappeared with the daylight. The only sound now is the rustling of leaves, insect buzzing, and an occasional breeze howling through the trees. Din flicks on his night vision setting and walks faster, forgetting in his haste that he needs to make sure that the child is keeping up.Â
Seconds later, a twig snaps and Din whips around, the sound is just too loud and heavy for the kid to make. Thereâs nothing behind him, no movement in the woods, no footprints or body-heat register, and the path is clear. Everything is fine- Wait.Â
The path is completely clear.
The kid is nowhere to be seen.Â
Panic floods Dinâs body, intense, choking pressure crushing his limbs and chest with enough force to rip the air out of his lungs. The sensation is akin to being sucked into space, although Din would take that fate over the current fear that overwhelms him. Hunterâs instincts take over as his body moves automatically to search the trees, prowling the space around him while his mind watches numbly from afar. Itâs odd, he feels like a specter observing from behind the veil, unable to control his actions. The trees blur together, choking panic becoming harder to ignore with every second that passes in his search.Â
He finds his voice. âKid!â It comes out all wrong and hollow as if it were the cry of a stranger instead of Dinâs voice. âKid, where are you!?â
He ducks down to the forest floor, laying on his stomach and looking through the thick overgrowth at the child's eye level. Din hopes that the lower perspective will help him figure out where to look next, searching desperately for any eye-catching areas that may have drawn the kid. Unfortunately, nothing is out of the ordinary. Not even a suspicious twig.
Din sighs shakily and rises to his knees, about to give up and start grid searching when something catches his eye causing him to flatten once more. There was a flash of body heat on his current visor setting, the reddish-orange mark alarmingly vibrant against the darkness that surrounds him. Whatever produces the heat is only a few feet away, snuffling around a felled tree for its next meal. The fuzzy form is too big to be the kid, and if it eats meat then it may pose danger to a child the size of Dinâs foundling.
Din doesnât think before he launches himself at the creature.Â
It shrieks as he lands heavily by its side, his hands shooting out to snatch the animal, a rodent, and flip it over, praying that its species is inclined to being herbivores. His answer comes in the half-eaten bark that tumbles from the rodent's mouth as it lets out a shriek, its wide mouth lined with round teeth and eyes dilated in fear. Din lets the creature go, his stomach tight with fear for the child and guilt for scaring the creature. It skitters away to its den, unharmed.Â
The Mandalorian deflates, leaning forward until the forehead of his helmet rests on the forest floor. There is an empty place shredding inside of him, a place that was quickly woven by having the child at his side. It falls apart just as quickly.Â
Din shouldâve found him by now, a baby that young canât hide so well as to lose a seasoned hunter. He'll go back to the settlement and scout out potential kidnappers, running the Guilds database program and comparing faces until he recognizes the culprit. Before that, he should scan the area again, just in case. Maybe the baby crawled down a den with one of those rodents. Din screws his face up in despair, turning to settle his temple onto the dirt before opening his eyes and-
There, in the hollow of the felled trunk, are two staring black pupils twinkling at him from the dark. A giggle bubbles up from the kidâs mouth, soft white bark spraying in every direction as he laughs.
Din is fucking furious.Â
 ------------------------------------------
Children's laughter fills the air like a symphony, fitting perfectly against the background noise of bird song, tittering parents, and working krill farmers. Dinâs foundling runs on short legs to keep up with the human children, jumping as best he can to swat at hovering butterflies that tease the excited crowd. He fits in perfectly here, the happiest Din has seen in the short time theyâve been together. He should leave him here once the Guild calms down in a few months.Â
Din flinches from inside his hut, the thought hurts too much to consider.
That will be months from now anyway, he doesnât need to think about it. The only thing he should be concerned about is scouting the woods with Dune later, searching for the raiders that plague this community. For now, he can peacefully sit in his temporary lodging and observe life on Sorgan. It is a gentle one and, try as he might bury it, Din appreciates gentle things.Â
âOw! Hey, he hit me!â One of the villageâs children stands clutching his arm, glaring at his female friend who glumly scrapes the ground with a shoeless foot.Â
âI did not! It was the new kid.â The accused girl shoots back, pointing fervently at the little, green foundling who is standing agape in the crowd. âHe did it!â
Din straightens at her accusation, annoyance rising from his chest to heat his cheeks. Does she think sheâll get away with the lie? He thinks hotly.
His kid- the kid is too short to even reach any of their shoulders, let alone hit them. How dare she accuse the baby. Adjusting his helmet, Din stalks out of the hut and approaches the children, ready to defend the child against all offending claims but the other adults reach the group first. He recognizes Omera and freezes when she shoots him a sharp look, her eyes speaking wordlessly. Don't make this worse.
âWhat happened here?â She asks in a firm, clear tone, pulling the three children closer to her and crouching to their eye level. The baby is transfixed, his mouth still hanging open as he twists his ears curiously at the woman. âUse your words and take turns please.â
The hurt child, named Kaigo if Din remembers correctly, huffs loud enough for Din to hear from where he stands 20 feet away. Kaigo raises his chin and looks down his nose at Omera before answering her. âWinta wanted to catch the butterfly first but Iâm taller than her and gooder at catching bugs, so she hit me. The baby is too short to even hit me!â
Din nods. Damn right he's too short. And the kid doesnât hit.
âBetter, not gooder,â Omera gently corrects Kaigo, brushing away a strand of hair while tersely turning to Winta, her daughter. âWinta, is this true? Iâve taught you about using your words before actions.â Winta seems to be fascinated by the dirt ground, kicking her foot and refusing to meet her motherâs gaze.Â
Omera tries again, âWinta, look at me please.â
âFine! I did hit him. But everyone is obsessed with the new baby and Mandalorian, and I wanted to catch a butterfly so that everyone will like me again!â The little girl chokes up at the end of her confession, falling into Omeras lap with her arms wrapped around her mother. The baby makes a distressed sound and places his little hands on Wintaâs knee.Â
Din takes this as his cue to join them, long strides leading him across the clearing in mere seconds. The baby runs up and hugs his ankle when he spots the Mandalorian while Kaigo retreats to his friend group with wide eyes locked on the warrior. A hush falls over the children in his presence, as the setting sun behind Din lays his shadow over their huddled group. Everyone seemingly holds their breath. The loudest sound is Omeraâs soothing hand patting Wintaâs back.Â
Din leans into one leg feeling awkward, he doesnât know how to address the little ones firmly without scaring them. After a few tense moments, he clears his throat and turns to Winta.
âI like you Winta. You have been very kind to the child.â The words come out halting and none too graceful but he means it, Winta and Omera have gone out of their way to welcome the bounty hunter and child, bringing him food and playing with the baby with open arms. Omera lends him a gracious smile when he speaks, a lovely sight that sends warmth throughout Dinâs chest. Her daughter peeks from her hiding spot in Omeraâs elbow, teary eyes stubborn and flashing in the sun.Â
âYou donât mean it.â She shoots back, harshly drawing her eyebrows together on her young face before burrowing into her hiding spot once more. The widow sighs and stops her soothing pats, stretching her arms above her head wearily. Dinâs eyes catch on the curve of her neck then dart away, busying himself with picking up the baby who has started up a babble at his feet.Â
âMando is nice, Winta. Heâs helping us get rid of the raiders which he wouldnât do if he disliked you. Come on,â she pulls the little girl upright and turns her reluctant body to face Din. âHeâs helping us, sweetheart.âÂ
One of the young boys interjects, from the gaggle of children. âYeah! Heâs a good guy!âÂ
Din nods at the boy then tries copying Omeraâs earlier actions by crouching to the height of the girl, extending one glove to Winta while the other keeps the baby held against his cuirass. âI promise. Shake on it. Bounty hunter shakes are very serious.â
Petulant eyes meet his own through the visor and he sucks in a startled breath, taken aback by the perceptive look. Most people tend to miss his eyes, always just slightly off enough to leave Din feeling unseen. The physical barrier of beskar leans into an emotional one as well. Heâs noticing now that the children donât miss his eyes as often.Â
Winta slowly reaches out and grips his finger, shaking up and down so seriously that Din wants to laugh. He holds it back knowing it would only hurt her feelings more, instead, he says, âthere. your very first guild contract.âÂ
Omera laughs softly and stands, picking Winta up off her lap and spinning her onto her back, child limbs wrapping around her slim figure like a spider. âWinta is not allowed to hunt bounties, sorry.â
âShame. She is very skilled. Especially when it comes to catching butterflies.â He tilts his helmet knowingly at the little girl, who grins proudly back at him before remembering that she is supposed to be upset. Din smiles at her stubbornness, holding the foundling out to her to try and appease the attitude. Winta smiles and hesitantly holds the babyâs hand while he babbles and wriggles his ears.
âIâm sorry,â she whispers, frowning slightly in a way that seems self-directed. âI shouldnât have lied. I like you. And Iâm sorry Kaigo!â She shouts the last part to her friend. The baby laughs and starts flapping his arms, looking between his friend and the butterflies that still flutter just above the villagers. Winta squeals in delight and takes him in her spindly arms, hugging him tightly as he continues to imitate the colorful creatures.Â
Itâs so silly that even Din laughs.Â

afsdgfdhgj!! thank you sm, iâm so happy to hear that :âD that is...something i do very much need to work on actually, iâve been trying to kick the talking-self-down habit for a while now, itâs just!! itâs tough, guys.
on a lighter note, i know exactly what trope youâre talking about and iâm an unapologetic sucker for it afdsgfdh. unfortunately this probably isnât exactly what youâre looking for, but i got bit by the idea and it wouldnât let me go, so hereâs a somewhat-short (somewhat) fic about it!
Sometimes, the ninja forget theyâre technically, kind-of-sort-of, famous. Like, not all the time, because some people are creepy and wonât leave them well enough alone, and some people are justâŠreally enthusiasticâŠbut for the most part, it is easy to forget sometimes, because out of gi they look pretty normal.
(Until Lloydâs eyes start shuffling through colors like a sporadic traffic light, of course, but that doesnât happen as much now.)
The point is, sometimes itâs easy to forget that theyâre famous.
Sometimes, though â when movie posters the size of the Bounty are plastered all over the city because some wise guy thought making a film about them would be a great idea â itâs harder to forget.
âThis feels like an invasion of privacy,â Cole mutters, crossing his arms as he sinks deeper into the theater seat.
âOh, yeah,â Nya says. âBecause trading cards and entire news documentaries with our full names and intimate dating life details were one thing, but a loosely-based movie is where we draw the line.â
âIntimate dating life my foot,â Lloyd scowls, clearly far from getting over that one article that managed to snag a picture of him and Harumi beforeâŠeverything.
âWell â yeah, fair, but likeââ Cole sputters. âThey hired actors to play us. Theyâre gonna be recreating our lives and itâs â itâs weird, okay?â
âI dunno, I think itâs pretty cool,â Kai says, already on his third mouthful of popcorn, and the trailers haveât even started yet. âI mean, it canât be worse than that play they put on, right?â
âDonât jinx it,â Zane mutters darkly, his eyes flashing at the reminder.
âIâm with Kai,â Jay says, bouncing in his seat as he reaches for the popcorn. âI think itâs cool that people care enough about us to make a movie, you know? Like, did you see the budget for this thing?â
âWas it as high as the repair cost for the tower we blew up last week?â Lloyd says.
âUhâŠmaybe. I didnât compare, exactly. But look, you canât put a price on lives. A little collateral damage is worth it.â
âA little?â Zane says, his eyebrows shooting up.
âEh, we helped clean it up,â Nya shrugs. âThat counts.â
Jay points at her. âThank you.â
âStill say it wasnât my fault,â Kai grumbles, crossing his arms. Lloyd pokes him in the ribs, and Kai yelps, flinching away from him. âNot cool, not cool!â
âWeâre definitely not going to make it through this movie without getting thrown out,â Cole groans into his hands. Theyâre already getting looks from the movie-goers around them, and their patience doesnât look like itâs going to last very long.
âCâmon, have a little optimism,â Jay placates. âThis is gonna be funâ hey, thatâs my popcorn!â
âNo way, lightning brain, I bought it, I hold it.â
âBut you bought it with Nyaâs money.â
âWhich she stole from Lloydâs sock drawer this morning, so that doesnât count.â
âWait, you stole my sock money?â
âUmâŠcall it payback for stealing the last of the cookies last week.â
âHow is that a fair trade, I only took one!â
âYeah, one dozenââ
âGuys, pleaseââ
âYouâre one to talk, you stole all theââ
âWould you all shut up, itâs starting, and â I said shut up!â
******************
It takes a few threats of murder, and one or two threats of open power-use to the face, but they quiet down in time for the opening credits.
The movie begins peacefully enough, with an older man telling some âpunk little kidâ as Kai describes him, a whole lot of âstereotypical sensei mumbo jumboâ as Lloyd describes it, about himself. Which, to be fair, is pretty accurate to their lives, so theyâre able to quietly munch on popcorn for the first few minutes, at least.
But then the plot starts.
âWhat do they mean, âuh ohâ, to Lloyd Garmadon?â Kai frowns. âThe city loves you.â
Lloyd shrugs, tossing a mouthful of popcorn back. âI dunno,â he says. âI mean, it is tough to be that kid.â
âYeah, âcause heâs the worst shortie ever, like four feet tall,â Nya whispers to him. Lloyd elbows her in the side. Zane shushes them, just in time for the actual movie Lloyd to show up on the screen, in bed and receiving a call fromâ
Lloyd doubles over, choking on his popcorn.
âLuh-Lloyd?â Kai says, in delight. âLuh-Lloyd?!â
âPajamas,â Lloyd wheezes, as Nya thumps his back. âLook at his pajamas, I gotta buy my dad thoseââ
The others are left to giggle their way through the interpretation of one of their greatest enemies snacking on cereal in printed pajamas, telling Lloyd he âmustâve butt-dialed himâ. Itâs hysterical until Garmadon forgets Lloydâs birthday, and the Lloyd onscreen gets the signature Sad Puppy Eyes Lloyd Look on his face â which, props to the actor, he nailed it â and everyone looks to Lloyd in sympathy.
âThatâs rough, buddy,â Jay pats his shoulder. Lloyd rolls his eyes.
âItâs not me,â he says, shrugging again. Really, his dad forgetting his birthday is like, incredibly tame, compared to hurling him through a prison wall or six.
Now, forgetting he existed, that stings. But also, like, this isnât his dad, so. Eh. He doesnât really care.
âIs that supposed to be Misako?â
Never mind. He cares now.
âAre youââ Kai plasters a hand over his mouth, muffling this next part. ââkidding me?!â
âOh, sheâs, uhâŠreally present, huh,â Cole winces, as âKokoâ encourages her son about being himself, and other really nice stuff Lloyd would have super appreciated hearing when he was younger.
He opens his mouth again, and Nya takes the opportunity to stuff more popcorn in it. Lloyd chomps down angrily, glaring at the screen and grumbling under his breath.
âAt least youâve shown up at all,â Jay comforts him. Lloyd is very much not comforted. He just wants to get through the rest of the movie in peace, and shift the focus off of him as quick as possible.
Oh boy, is he disappointed.
Like, he gets a few minutes of relief as the others are introduced, but thatâs all, really. Even if it is hilarious.
âHello, fellow teen.â
Cole makes a sound like a dying balloon, and Jay almost coughs popcorn out of his nose. Zane just presses his lips into a flat line, his expression unreadable. âI do notâŠknow how to feel about this.â
Jay and Kai are doubled-over on each other by now, choking on laughter. Cole, bless him, is doing his absolute best not to burst into giggles, while Nya and Lloyd have given up and are full-out cackling.
âWell,â Zane says, eyeing them with a gleam in his eye. âPerhaps I should start updating my database with âteen lingoâ thenââ
âNo!â they all chorus in unison, waving frantically at Zane, earning several dirty looks from the people around them as they do.
âYouâre perfect the way you are, buddy,â Jay says hastily.
Kai, at least, seems pretty steadily in characterâ
âAw, look, I almost snapped your spine.â
âThatâs a Kai hug, for sure.â
âand Nyaâs thrilled about having a motorcycle. Jayâs a tad indignant at his characterâs stuttering, but Cole reminds him he has zero room to talk, so Jay shuts up in time for Cole to shrug at his own portrayal.
âI like that shirt,â he remarks. âAnd those headphones are cool.â
Then the reality of the scene theyâre watching sinks in.
âWait, why are we in school?â Zane blinks, confused.
âWhy are they being so mean to you?â Cole exclaims at Lloyd, taken aback.
Lloyd makes a face at the cheerleaders on screen, jerking his shoulder up as if to say âlike I knowâ. Which is kind of a lie, because he does know, the movie told them, but heâs not gonna get into that. Kai is already fuming in his seat beside him, growing steadily angrier by the second. âWho do they think they are,â he hisses. âIâll show them a number one hit.â
Lloyd rips his eyes from the screen, watching Kai in mild alarm. âKai, you know thatâs not actually me, right?â
ââtear those kids a new oneââ
Lloyd cringes at the looks theyâre getting from the people around them, patting Kaiâs arm. âChill out, Kai, seriously. This is like, basic Darkleyâs stuff, donât worry. And I walked away from that fine.â
Wrong thing to say. Kai swivels on him, his eyes flashing. âWait. This happened to you at Darkleyâs? For real?â
âUmâŠâ Lloyd sweats briefly, the sounds of Boo Lloyd! coming from the screen really not helping at all. âI mean, I was a brat. I brought a lot of it on myself.â
Kai looks like heâs going to combust. âI swearââ
âKai,â Lloyd interrupts, trying to quell the storm. âItâs fine. Seriously. I mean, there was this one time that four guys way bigger than me ganged up and hung me from a roof by my hoodie all night, but it wasnât that bad. Iâm fine.â
Kaiâs face turns thunderous, matching the roar of Garmadon finally coming into view onscreen. âWasnât that bad?â he says, incredulous, gaining them several shhâs, mainly from Nya. Kai ignores them. âPoint me to those punks, Lloyd, Iâll strangle âemââ
âKai.â
âWha â oh. Oh.â
âYeah.â
âThat â that was different.â
âUh-huh.â
ââŠyou â you werenât there all night.â
âI sure was.â
âOh.â
âMm-hm.â
âUm. SorâŠrry?â
Fortunately, both are saved by Garmadon smashing his way on screen in a giant shark mech with a full-scale crustacean-themed army, to which the ninja kind of justâŠstare. Thatâs â thatâs the best they can do with that one. That, and be thankful Garmadon himself isnât here to see this.
âI mean, to be fair, I can see him appreciating a song entirely about himself,â Kai mutters, as the chorus continues to yell about Garmadon!. âAnd â wait, Lloyd, are you filming this?â
âUh, yeah?â Lloyd says, re-adjusting the zoom feature on his phone. âNow hush, I wanna save this and make it my ringtone.â
******************
The mechs are, admittedly, cool. Their total lack of ability to do Spinjitzu, way less so.
âThatâs so not how Spinjitzu works,â Nya scoffs, as Sensei Wu finally makes an appearance, just in time for Lloyd to request wind as an element, which brings on another bout of choking.
âOh, for crying out loud,â Lloyd sighs. He then blinks rapidly. âWait, where are our powers?â
âNonexistent, apparently,â Zane murmurs. âAlong with our common sense.â
âTo be fair, thatâs never been a reliable thing in the first place,â Jay points out.
The lack of common sense continues to be a trend throughout the movie, and by the time the âUltimate Weaponâ comes up, things start to go downhill rather fast.
âWhich, to continue to be fair, is also pretty in-character. This whole fight kinda is.â
The other ninja grumble in agreement as Lloyd runs off to confront his father alone despite all warning, and Lloyd begins to sink lower into his seat. He has a bad feeling he knows exactly where this is going, and sadly, he isnât disappointed.
Well, for the most part.
âA cat?â Lloyd yelps, his eyes bugging out. âA giant cat?! How is that fair? All I ever get to fight is creepy part-reptile people who want to suck the power out of me, where do I sign up for this?â
âThis is surreal,â Zane remarks, as Meowthra tears her merry way across the screen. The whole scene is a disaster, slo-mo destruction and everything, but itâs pretty much the standard fare theyâre used to, so they really donât bat much of an eye as the cat totally wrecks them.
âNice to know we canât catch a break in any universe,â Jay sighs sadly, as his mech is torn apart on screen.
âThis movie is really beating the âdonât-challenge-dad-soloâ message over the head, huh,â Lloyd mutters, chin in his hand, having recovered from his brief bout of extreme-cat-heart-eyes.
Kai gives him a stink-eye. âYeah, I wonder why.â
Understandably, the Lloyd onscreen is considerably upset at the apparent destruction of all his friends. The ninja are all incredibly curious as to where the movie is going to go next, though, since this Garmadon celebrates his victory by throwing a pretty sick party instead of building a skyscraper-sized stone Colossi of destruction and wrecking half the city.
âKind of unfair,â Jay scowls, as the henchman do the conga onscreen. Nyaâs got a smart comment to make back, but then the Lloyd onscreen reveals himself â
âIn typical dramatic-Lloyd fashion, they got that right.â
âOh, shut up.â
â and then proceeds to snap at the Garmadon onscreen, âI wish you werenât my father.â
The theater goes remarkably quiet, as do the ninja. Cautiously, they turn to look at Lloyd, who is staring at the screen with a look on his face similar to if youâd shaken up a soda bottle really hard and were about to take the top off. Thenâ
âOh, heck yeah, howâs that for karma, you over-powered conceited jerk of a dad,â Lloyd hisses viciously at the screen, punching his fist in the air. âHeâs got the right idea, itâs my turn to start disowning family members. Screw âyouâre not my sonâ, Iâm gonna pull this one out next time and disown himâ!â
âLloyd,â Nya says, a bit nervously. âYou know heâs, uh, heâs crying on screen now, right?â
âYeah,â Lloyd spits.
âYou, uh. You know you are too, right?â
âN-no.â
âTherapy,â Cole whispers to Zane. âSo much therapy.â
âIâve already booked us,â Zane murmurs back, sliding his phone back in his pocket. âIf the office can simply manage not get blown for one more week this time, we might actually make it."
******************
While they do, however, manage to stay quiet for most of that scene â and isnât Cole wildly impressed with them for that â the next scene kind of shoots that victory right into tiny little pieces.
âWhy are we being so mean to you now?â Cole exclaims, flabbergasted, as the poor Lloyd onscreen looks seconds from tears, the rest of the team staring down at him with firm glares.
âShh, this is getting dramatic,â Lloyd hushes him.
Nya gets a look on her face that promises murder, and Kai refuses point-blank to be shushed.
âWhat a bunch of jerks. Weâd never do something like that, Iâm going to have words with some peopleââ
âJamanakai,â Lloyd just says, wearily. âRooftop. All night.â
Kai deflates, sinking into his seat. âSânot the same,â he mutters, fiercely. âWe never said all those mean things to you.â
Lloyd gently pats his arm. âThere, there,â he says. âI know you didnât mean it.â
âI never said it! Itâs â itâs that imposter on screen, thatâs who!â
âKai, I knowââ
Lloyd is interrupted by an unfortunately-timed declaration from the onscreen Jay.
âNow, we hate you.â
Lloyd blinks, almost surprised at the slight flare of hurt that sparks in his chest at that. Which is stupid, because these directors donât know them, and thatâs not really Jay, but hey, why not play into his worst fears, movieâ
Then âJay!â is hissed in scandalized unison, and Lloyd stuffs said worst fears back into box and tries not to snicker at the look on his brotherâs face.
âItâs not me!â Jay defends desperately, waving his hands wildly. âThatâs not me!â
âDeleting all data related to treating Lloyd as a friend.â
Jay is saved as everyone turns on Zane, who just buries his face in his hands. âLet it end,â he moans.
******************
Apart from being shocked that Sensei Wu is actually going with his ninja on their quest for the Ultimately Ultimate Weaponâ
âItâs ultimate ultimate, did you miss that trip-inducing scene they explained it with?â
âthey arenât as surprised by things anymore after that, having caught on to the movieâs flow. Itâs a little more slapstick than theyâre used to, all bright colors and quick action, but itâs enjoyable to watch Garmadon and Sensei Wu snipe at each other, at least.
âTen bucks says he survives just fine,â Cole says blandly, as Sensei Wu goes plummeting toward the river.
Not one of them take him up on that wager.
âGeez, theyâre really roasting us for being morons in this, huh,â Jay observes, as their onscreen counterparts take the clearly-a-trap route, as per Garmadonâs advice.
Lloyd, who is still stewing about having his voice made fun of, bites out, âI think itâs pretty valid, for some of us.â
âOh, suck it up already, Lloyd. Your voice changed anyways, get over it.â
âAre you saying I sounded ridiculous before?â
âUh, no-oâŠ?â
âOh, there we go, getting humiliated again,â Nya sighs, as the ninja are cornered by Garmadonâs ex-generals. âI wonder why they didnât give us our powers. Youâd think theyâd have capitalized on that, itâd look pretty cool.â
âWho knows. Iâm still trying to figure out if my characterâs love for music is a clever reference to me and my dadâs singing background, or just a shallow attempt to give me character at all,â Cole muses. They turn back to the movie just in time to wince in unison as the ninja onscreen flee, leaving Lloyd and Garmadon to be captured.
Kai is less than pleased with this development.
âOh, so weâre just leaving Lloyd behind now? Who wrote this movie, I wanna talk.â
******************
By the time Garmadonâs teaching Lloyd how to throw bricks from a roof to some sappy soundtrack, then relocating his dislocated shoulder in a wild tone change, theyâre mostly lost for words.
Also kind of enjoying the movie, though no one will admit it. The expressions are funny, and there are some lines that hit home. Sure, Lloyd spends a good ten minutes alternating between sputtering and gaping when Garmadon describes their family history, and only proceeds to get worse when everyone else receives powers and he gets a cute little tree branch, but it is fun to watch their onscreen counterparts run around to âIâve Got the Powerâ playing cheerfully in the background. Plus, no one tries to ostracize Lloyd again, and itâs oddly satisfying to watch Garmadon get eaten by a giant cat, so by the time Lloydâs trying to hide suspicious sniffling into the empty popcorn tub while his onscreen counterpart is giving Garmadon his big sappy speech about forgiveness, they might actually give the movie a decent rating.
Coleâs just happy they havenât been thrown out yet, because theyâve really been pushing it this whole time. But finally, it seems like everyoneâs settled down and is keeping perfectly quietâ
âWhat do you mean, he gets to keep the cat?â
Coleâs hopes and dreams go up in sad, despairing smoke.
âWait, thatâs whatâs bothering you?â Nya blinks. âNot the whole, âthis Lloyd gets his entire family back happyâ part, but the cat part?â
âWell yeah, Iâm upset about the cat part!â Lloyd exclaims indignantly. âHe gets a giant cat! The size of a skyscraper! What kind of raw deal did my grandfather cut me here, I didnât even get to keep my dragon! This is so dumb, and â and oh look, now my dadâs all happy and stuffââ
Nya and Zane glance around in alarm. The movie-goers around them seem to be losing the last, lingering shreds of their patience, and Cole wisely decides that this might be a nice time to make an exit. The movie looks like itâs about over, anyways, andâ
ââand what, they just have happy family dinners together now?!â
Yeah, theyâre leaving.
******************
âWell, that wasâŠenlightening,â Zane says blankly, as they exit the theater. He still looks tragically annoyed at the way the producers decided to portray him, but heâs mostly recovered by now. Probably because he torched his little movie poster on the way out, but who are they to judge.
âI think you mean infuriating,â Kai mutters, glaring at the theater as they leave it behind.
âI donât know, it wasnât so bad,â Nya says. âLike, they obviously decided to go for Lloydâs very sensitive personal life as a focus point, so at least the rest of us got off alright.â
âGiant cat,â Lloyd mourns, clearly still more hung-up on that than Ninjagoâs apparent obsession with his family drama.
âI just wanna try that lightning thing later,â Jay says. âKnow any doors I can practice busting open dramatically?â
âYeah, the door to the producerâs office,â Kai grumbles.
âEnough, guys,â Cole sighs. âIt was a lot better than it couldâve been. Letâs just be happy the city still likes us enough to make us the heroes.â
They all nod at that, placated for now, at least. They fall into silence, carefully navigating their way home, until Jay breaks the quiet. Â
âYour heroes on the wa-a-ay,â Jay murmurs. Heâs met with five looks of equal disappointment. âWhat?â he shrugs. âItâs catchy.â
Cole rolls his eyes, and Kai scoffs. They fall back into silence for a beat, their footsteps the only sound on the street, thenâ
âSomething-something save the da-a-ay,â Lloyd hums.
Jay beams, and Kai moans. Nya just grins. âGonna something-something pla-a-aceââ
âThat takes us higher!â
They dissolve into snickers, their mix of off-key singing echoing across the Ninjago City streets. Cole spares a sigh of despair at their attempt, but he canât help grinning too. It is a catchy song, and, to be fair, for trying to capture their general team spirit, it comes pretty close.
A lot closer than half that movie did, he frowns. Though he does still want that shirt his counterpart wore.
âHey,â Jay speaks up. âLetâs learn that Garmadon song next. We can sing it to him in battle.â
âOh, now youâre talking.â
