Laurance had gained back the use of all of his muscles in time for camp to be settled. Yor came over, knife in hand. He cut the ropes loose, grabbing the chain  as he let Laurance move himself. 

Laurance groaned, his muscles aching about the treatment they’d been through. He moved slowly and stiffly, supporting himself against the carrobeast with his hands as he stretched out one leg and then the other. He slowly got to his feet, the sand still warm as the air began to gather a chill. Yor impatiently led him away from the fire stones Kulor was setting up. 

Yor stopped and threw the chain deep into the sand, far enough down that Laurance was jerked back down to his knees, his hands flush with the sand. He gave it a little tug, more on instinct than on any hope that he would be able to free himself. 

Yor held out a skin of water and Laurance tipped his head as Yor poured the water out. It wasn’t nearly enough, Yor stopped before Laurance finished, but he was grateful for it anyways. Yor capped his skin of water and turned, going to sit by fire stones to chat with Kulor. 

Matsu was chained at the far side of the camp, his chains also buried deep in the sand. Laurance couldn’t make out his expression very well through the glare of the fire stone light between them, but he saw Matsu bob his head in acknowledgment. Laurance did the same before he got to work pushing sand around with his legs. While he was good with heat and it took a lot to actually burn him, the same could not be said about him and the cold. He dug a good enough hole in the sand and struggled to pull the warm sand back over him with his chained hands and shaky legs. 

His muscles were screaming by the time he got a fair amount of sand over himself, and even then he knew he was in for a night of freezing. Still, he curled up and tried to sleep.

Laurance was going to freeze to death, he was sure of it. He shivered, muscles jittery and achy. He pulled his legs as close to his stomach as he could, but it almost hurt worse to do that then to just be cold. 

The fire stones were dim as Kulor and Yor had gone to bed in their bed rolls. Laurance glanced over the camp, glad to see Matsu seemed to be having a relatively nice night curled on top of the sand. 

He turned his attention to the carrobeasts. He recognized one of the pack animals as his. 

He exalted shakily, his teeth already chattering. He didn’t even care if he got caught at this point. He was so tired of being cold he could cry. 

He whistled to get his beast’s attention. Trouble lifted his head curiously. 

The creature tilted his head, intrigued as Laurance said, ‘Portor.’

Come. 

Trouble got to his feet and tugged at his reins, which had been tied to a stake in the ground. Trouble huffed and, after digging at the stake for a minute, pulled it out of the ground. 

He lumbered over and Laurance ordered him to lay down when he was close enough, leaving his bed of sand to curl up against Trouble. 

It was heavenly. Trouble radiated heat and, after a moment, the carrowbeast nibbled at Laurance’s head before laying his warm head and neck over him. 

“You are my favorite ever,” Laurance murmured, which got a soft coo from the carrobeast. 

With that, Laurance fell asleep.

Being woken up by a boot to the side was never all that much fun, but here he was. 

Matsu gasped, curling around his ribs as Kulor growled, “Get up.”

Matsu coughed and found his chains had been freed from the sand. He stumbled his feet, tracing the chain with his eyes to find it attached to one of the carrobeasts. 

Yor was dragging Laurance across the camp, quickly enough that Laurance stumbled a little. 

“I guess I’ll have to gag you tonight,” Yor hissed, chaining Laurance to another carrobeast before turning and hitting Laurance hard enough across the face that he fell to the sand, gasping. 

“Oi!” Matsu said firmly, fighting the urge to put Yor on his own face in the sand. 

“Shut up, Mer,” Yor said, turning quickly on him as Laurance sat up, bringing his hands to his face to see if anything was damaged. “Unless you would like to be gagged at night as well.”

Matsu was rather surprised, but fell silent as Yor turned back to Laurance. “If you had lost that carrobeast I wouldn’t have let Kulor stop me from whipping you.”

“I was freezing to death,” Laurance replied swiftly. “I’m a demon, remember.”

Yor raised his hand, fingers clenched in a fist. Matsu stepped forward quickly enough that it coaxed his carrobeast to move closer to the altercation. He grabbed the man’s arm, holding him from hitting Laurance. 

“He’s a demon,” Matsu said quickly and rationally. “He needs extra consideration like I do. I need more water and he needs more warmth.”

Yor turned, grabbing Matsu by the throat and forcing him against the carrobeast he was chained to. The beast lowws, annoyed, as it was forced back to where it was. 

“You are a slave, now. You do not talk to me that way, understand?”

Matsu glared at him, despite the spots that filled his vision as the man’s carefully placed fingers cut off his blood flow a bit.

“Understand?” Yor repeated, tightening his grip.

Matsu grunted and nodded. 

Yor let him go and Matsu stumbled, rubbing at his neck. 

Laurance was on his feet now. He had a red patch on his face where he’d been hit and bruises on his ribs. Bruises that wouldn’t fade with the speed that Matsu’s own did. 

Kulor and Yor went about cleaning up their camp and gathering everything they needed as Matsu leaned towards Laurance. 

“Trouble?”

“Trouble,” Laurance said with a little smirk. “He’s a good little beast.”

“You gonna keep him after all this is over, then?”

“Well, you have a unicorn, I don’t see why I shouldn’t give the stables a bit more business and take a carrobeast home with me.”

“Now, now,” Matsu said with a teasing smile. “You have to remember it is a big commitment. You have to feed it and water it and take it for walks. That’ll cut into your precious sword time.”

Laurance snorted, elbowing Matsu.

They quieted down as Kulor and Yor came back, tying the baggage beasts to theirs and then they mounted and started off for the day.

OK, fair warning to the few people I actually managed to convince to try the game??

Rain world does NOT play like hollow knight, and you'll get your butt kicked if you approach it like that.

It's really hard. Like, really hard. Instead of the game literally giving you abilities in the form of power-ups and damage buffs, the only abilities you gain is from what you learn and your own ingenuity. You're a rat from beginning to end. If you just beef your way through it, it's gonna suck and you're gonna be confused and frustrated all the time. But if you pay attention, take it slow, and learn how the ai works and how everything interacts with each other, you can consistently get through and dominate situations you thought were impossible to do so when you first began. Now get out there, kill some lizards, and bully some old computers!

okay okay I'm thinking about trans Dipper right? I'm thinking Stan probably wasn't the most accepting at first, not in a flat out misgendering way, but more of a not respecting him as a real guy and more like going along with someone pretending. if that makes sense.

But he slowly grew more accepting after maybe doing some research, or being convinced by Mabel. Dipper didn't really know this until in Dipper vs Manliness, when Grunkle Stan said:

"You were your own man and you stood up for yourself."

"Huh?"

"You did what was right even though no one agreed with you. Sounds pretty manly to me, but what do I know?"

and for Dipper, that was the first time Stan acknowledged him as, like, a "real man". Stan wouldn't admit to his face that he was being a jerk before, but just saying that and changing his ways meant a lot to Dipper :)

I know that was a shitpost for the latest Danny Phantom fandom meme, but I'm genuinely impressed and how authentic it sounds. How much of Dash's monologue is real advice, and how do you know all of that? Do you work out?

Yes I'm so sorry to inform my good people of Tumblr that I've secretly been a part of the gym fandom for all this time. I've only recently come out as a gymbro in this phandom via my creation of the current dp gym bro au meme that I've forced upon everyone in this good holy christian space. I mix whey protein into my overnight oats, I track my macros, and I have a closet full of Gym Girlie Outfits™️.

And just know it's a badge of honor that I carry to be able to say I've converted multiple members of the Danny Phantom phandom into regular gym goers as well 💪

What: chilling in the bathroom

When: during schooltime

Where: the bathroom

Why: He’s just taking a bathroom break, fuck. He’s liked by the teachers, it doesn’t matter if it goes a bit long. And there’s some mold in the corner of a mirror that looks like it’d be more interesting to scrape off than him going back to the classroom and facing chemistry equations. He’ll have Fenton fake the work for him anyways. 

Dash is distracted by the mold. 

Danny ends up running into the bathroom and shutting the door behind him, taking a moment to catch his breath and immediately noticing Dash. 

Dash just stares at him for a moment, then his mouth begins to slide into a sneer. How could Danny do his homework if he was also skipping class? Danny breaks eye contact like they weren’t about to have a stare-down, which is stupid, because Dash was about to threaten Danny to go back to class.

Dialogue moment: Dash says, a lil caught off guard, “be quick about it.”

Who: a ghost boar

What: running amok in the Casper high hallway

When: right now.

Where: unknown. It seems to like the smell of blood, since it chased Danny when he accidentally sliced his finger in science class.

Why: There was a fucking tac in his desk drawer when he’d tried to grab the textbook.  Danny had raised his hand to go to the bathroom and wash it off and Mr. Lancer let him go with reluctance. His ghost breath went off a moment later. The boar had been charging towards him when Danny walked out the classroom door. Danny thinks he may have distracted it by running (read: being chased) past the cafeteria, which was preparing to serve lukewarm-dogs to the L1 students.

btw when i call asterion a bad parent it's not like. a complaint. i love that he's like that. i love that he's such a terrible father i love that he completely sucks when it comes to parenting i love that even when he's trying to do better he still fucks up.

i love that the first time we see him he's basically telling rakiel to give up his birthright and die quietly without making a fuss so it won't cause issues to the royal family in the long run. i love that when theo is almost begging him to change his mind so his brother won't be humiliated in front of hundreds of people he basically tells him to stop caring for something stupid like family and feelings. i love that when rakiel does an amazing feat and almost dies doing it the only thing he does is reprimand him and tell him how much of an idiot he was. i love that when theo has a breakdown after he failed at achieving the one thing he was raised for asterion did absolutely nothing and completely left him on his own. i love that even when he's proud and wants to do something for rakiel he completely ignores what rakiel actually wants and makes him prove himself again just for the right of his wishes not being ignored.

i love that he acknowledges how terrible of him it is to care for his child only now that he's doing incredible things and proving himself and tries to be a better father... while still completely ignoring the other child he has.

he just. he sucks so fucking bad. he's not even trying to be malicious he genuinely thinks he's doing the right thing and that it's for the well being of his sons but he's so awful at being a father it just makes things worse.

it's very funny. and also so fucking good. for me <3 not his kids tho they're having a terrible time someone help them pls
