Not the son you were looking for
The Fentons were sure that their son was dead. They didn't understand why Phantom pretended to be their little Danny, nor why he made so many illogical excuses like "being a hybrid" and so on. At first they played along, but they were angry, angry that the truth was being kept from them, angry because they were sure that the supposed hero had done something to their son, and he even managed to trick Jazz!
It all made sense when Phantom was declared Ghost King, of course, he surely had Danny captive! It shouldn't be hard for the King of the Dead to manipulate a soul, maybe he was gaining power from that. They were sure, they had seen the King argue with one of his ghost-capturing devices and keep it always guarded, a big secret surely.
Unfortunately for them, the GIW had disbanded, so they had to turn to their second choice: The Justice League. It was an organization of heroes that had only recently formed, but the Fenton's were sure they would help them, so they contacted them and explained the situation. The League was skeptical but when they heard that a child might be in danger they acted immediately.
They didn't confront the King directly, they weren't idiots, but they stole the thermos, willing to give the child trapped in it a break. They could deal with the Ghost King later.
Unfortunately for everyone, as soon as the Fentons hit the "release" button what came out was not their son's soul, no. Dan Phantom watched them with a wide grin, free for the first time in years. The League had a feeling they had made a grave mistake.

A DC X DP IDEA #28
My Beloved
Imagine dis…
You know, I like misunderstandings…
I saw a bunch of prompts that Danny is the mother of Ellie and Dan who is angry and will destroy the world in the future.
I also saw a bunch of prompts of Danny and Phantom separating themselves and acting like two individual beings but having to be in proximity or else there would be consequences.
But I didn’t see anything about combining the two things…
HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
Daniel “Danny” Fenton knew that he had many powers, that kept on growing and appearing at the heat of the moment. He would sometimes forget how many powers he had due to his never-ending list. He has powers that he likes to use often, like levitation, flight, intangibility, his ghostly wail, and many more… But even he has a favorite, his duplication power.
Unlike Vlad who can create multiple clones of himself to do his bidding, he can only create one.
Now don’t go on and underestimate him just because he can only create one despite Vlad making multiple and who is also a halfa.
His clone is unique, when he first discovered this power of his he was all alone in the house full of guns to kill him when a passing thought passed his mind. Wes was getting on his nerves with how he adamantly tried to prove that he was Phantom. He knew the consequences when the people knew the truth, especially his parents, every time he closed his eyes it always showed him and his parents at the other end of the dissecting table.
He kept on saving them, poor animal ghosts who had just stumbled through the portal. He kept on stuffing his face with his pillows just to block out the screams.
He had just blinked, one moment he was all alone and all of a sudden another appeared in front of him.
He was startled at the notion while the clone looked at him with interest.
The clone was not human-HIM per se, but it was the ghostly-HIM aka Phantom but with more ghostly attributes.
Snow white hair that seems to sway, taller by a few feet, pointed ears, fanged teeth, skin so blue, and white freckles that seem to give off a faint glow.
He tried going ghost but was unable to do so, what he can do is a weaker version of flight, intangibility, and invisibility. While Phantom got most if not all of his powers whenever he went ghost.
At first, he was ecstatic with this new power of his not only he can throw people off who are looking too deeply into Phantom’s identity and put an end to Wes’s chatter but with this new power of his he can finally have some sort of normalcy.
But after a few minutes, he began to feel fatigued and nauseous, Phantom slowly moved towards Danny and merged himself with his human half causing a faint white glow all over his body that he got used to whenever he was going ghost.
It was a few minutes, Danny thought to himself, but it was enough to not only create a separation between the kid who always hides in the bathroom or disappears whenever there is a ghost attack and a ghost kid who looks the same age as he and only appears whenever he disappears.
But it was enough.
Everything was great, as Phantom was able to deal with the ghosts that constantly invaded his hometown but also, he is slowly bringing his grades up from where it was before the accident. He also created an alibi for himself so people will know that both Phantom and Danny and two separate people.
Both sides were able to go on separated from each other the more time they spent separated
After a few days, something also began to change.
Phantom would sometimes make a joke or a quip about death or even puns that made Danny laugh. Phantom would be more serious whenever they got too far from each other, small things that made both Danny and Phantom different from one another from an outside perspective.
Both made a mental connection to each other.
Not like romantically, but more of a deep platonic love for each other.
Devotion to each of their other halves. So deep that one might double-take whenever they saw the two.
Danny loves his friends and family but even they cannot understand him ever since the day of the accident. Jazz blessed his sister’s soul, who read every book in every existence known to man and tried to help him. But the thing is, those books are for humans, not ghosts, and especially not for someone like him.
He died and came back to life knowing instinctively that something was wrong with him. He stands in between life and death. He knew he died and felt every bolt of electricity that had killed him. He who had to sit still at the dinner table listening to their parents who were supposed to love them, listened in great detail to what they would do to Phantom when they had caught him.
But Phantom, Phantom instinctively knew how he felt and heard his thoughts. When rough days came to Danny, Phantom quietly appeared behind him and offered his silent support.
Both needed each other to live, without the other one cannot survive on their own.
Phantom, when got too far and separated from his human for far too long got reckless, angry, cold, merciless, and ruthless. Nocturn got the burnt of it despite knowing that Phantom held back.
And Danny?
Got too emotional, and detached, and has that far-away look on his face. He would space out an entire war or destruction surrounding and he still would not notice.
Both are each other’s anchor and rock. And when both become one and become Phantom together then they will be unstoppable.
When Danny became the Ghost King it was clear they needed to separate often due to the amount of paperwork that was left pilling when Pariah Dark was in charge.
It became domestic, Danny thought as he paused for a bit when he was trying to write a book report from the Lord of the Rings courtesy of Mr. Lancer. Add the latest guests in his room he thought as he took a look at the sleeping and cuddled up Dan and Ellie who are now freshly de-aged due to some circumstances.
When Danny tried to explain to the two halves the reason why he and Phantom seemed to separate or why he was using this power of his almost every day.
Dan and Ellie seem the only two who didn’t feel weird at his new predicament. Both de-aged ghosts after a sudden bad melting episode and the start of someone’s redemption arc called human Danny is their mom while Phantom is their dad.
Danny at first surprised at the title given by the two but asked playfully to the twins why is he the mom. Phantom who was trying to cuddle the two de-aged ghosts whom he saw as his children at this point and his human counterpart mumbled about whether was it the time when he went and juggled flaming diapers or mastered the art of the 'mom stare' that could freeze a room?
Danny who is still in a bad mood from Dash’s bullying earlier snarked back at Phantom on how he got the dad title. Did he accidentally perfect the art of 'dad dancing' during ghostly gatherings? or accidentally stumble into a dad joke competition?
Sam, often would joke that if she didn’t know better, she would think the two would be lovers which would be found in Paulina’s A03 account and history.
Now that spread like wildfire, it spread faster than Wes could say Danny is Phantom. Now both GIW and his parents are out to get him for two different reasons… One Phantom mind controlled their precious son and now locked up Danny for his “own good” and two he was called a so-called “traitor” to his race as he fell in love with a creature who was not even sentient.
As things slowly went out of hand, Danny had to physically drag Phantom, who had been clawing and gripping to Danny like a lifetime ever since Danny told him to stay at the Infinite Realms for their safety, to a portal with the two children who have their eyes puffed red as they say their farewells to each other.
The JL is now confused, they kept seeing the same teen on the loose that appeared in various cities such as Metropolis, Central, Star City, and many more, with various government agents tailing him and trying to capture him.
At first, they thought it was another of Walker’s programs, in which they kidnap various kids who have a powerful meta ability to be part of a group that directly answers to the government.
But when it was revealed that he is another son of Bruce Wayne, it became personal.
Could it be another ploy to gain the Wayne enterprise through a much older and miniature appearance of Bruce Wayne, is it another ploy to gain Bruce Wayne’s wealth and money… They might never know.
Batman aka Bruce Wayne publicly announced that he had found another son who was rummaging in the trash of Gotham City, this way those mysterious agents could not publicly go after him as Danny had been publicly broadcasted and the manor is equipped with the latest security known to man.
Danny is very skittish the Batfam concluded, as if every move and twitch they made is something Danny should be wary of. Danny was too distracted to be sad, and have little to no energy to even join Dick and the rest of his siblings to bond over something.
However, that didn’t stop them from forming some sort of familial bond with Danny despite him being too guarded and too wary to get close to the family.
However, it all changed on a random day, as the entire noticed his change of mood. No longer the wariness, anxiety, and nervousness they encountered daily. Each of them began asking around within themselves if they were the one who made a change to Danny, even Alfred didn’t know who or what made him turn a 180.
Of course, when they tried to ask COUGH to interrogate COUGH Danny, he just kept quiet and smiled shyly.
..
Night comes and all the Bats are gathered at the cave to discuss what made Danny to be in a good mood before their patrol.
As they were just about to leave for their shift when Oracle notified them Danny leaving the manor.
Of course, all of them immediately followed him and followed him to a tall abandoned building with Danny sitting giddily on top of the said building. Of course, some of them have some dark thoughts about Danny sitting on top of a warehouse and seeming near the edge. One of the Bat broods is ready to interfere if Danny even makes any signs.
But all thoughts were thrown out as a crack seemed to tear through reality appeared behind Danny, Danny on the other hand looked ecstatic. As the tear/ crack opened up there they saw an underworldly being donned with a crown that is covered in various jewels, an outfit and cape fit for an emperor, and eyes that reminded them of the Lazarus pits.
Just as the moment they tried to calm their hearts down, Danny flung himself towards the unknown being and cried out beloved, the said being caught Danny and twirled him around.
Both are in their little world as they both keep laughing and hugging each other.
The Bat family who are still in the shadows kept their eyes on the two as they wanted to get Danny away from someone that made their instincts go haywire. Batman and Robin are both especially to grab Danny away from that thing.
Both the being and Danny finally settled down and began chatting to each other with little to no distance between the two. The being then summoned a basket that was full of unique and exotic food and then shared it with their new brother.
Then Danny suddenly asked about the kids, What kids!!! EVERYONE thought when suddenly two black blurs went and tackled Danny down, knocking the air out of him.
As the kids stopped hugging Danny, they all held their breaths, they looked like the perfect copy of Danny. Black hair and blue eyes, both kids exclaimed Danny as their mom while they pouted at the being and called him dad about hoarding their mom.
The reunited “family” began chatting about how they were at each other, more on the beings asking how Danny is especially doing.
Danny chatted about how the Waynes are too good for him and how he informed Batman since the Bats have a very close relationship with the Waynes. When one of the kids why mom needs to talk to Batman, Danny just casually reveals a bombshell on the Anti-Ecto laws, GIW, The Infinite realms...etc. So that both mom and dad could get together again, as mom aka Danny is trying everything to stop the war from the living world while their dad tries to stop the war from the Realms.
As they were chatting and catching up to one another, Danny looked at his wristwatch and told the kids that he had to get going or else the Waynes might notice that he snuck out. Both kids immediately cried and gripped Danny while the other being also known as dad didn’t even try to pry the kids off from Danny as he too wanted to stay with the human.
Of course, Danny gently pried off the three hands that were gripping and immediately one of the kids threw a tantrum at how Danny was not safe and might get him killed if he stayed there and Danny should just go with them. Of course, Danny shook his head and told the kid that Mommy was doing everything he could to protect both of them also he might not want to admit it in front of the Wayne but he did grow on them, like a fungus he can’t remove.
And so, the trio left the building after one last look and hug from Danny, Danny immediately lost the small life and cheerfulness that he had when he was meeting them and silently went back to the manor.
This made the Bat clan scramble to fix everything, all the while competing for the favorite uncle and aunt title while both Bruce and Alfred engage in their silent war for the grandpa title, when they showed their findings to the League both Booster Gold and the Flask stood up white as paper.
They claimed at the picture of Danny, that he may be the one who destroyed the future, but looked a little confused as some traits that they remembered were not on Danny which made them speculate that maybe he grew into. But when the two-time travelers explained in great detail his appearance, it matched the appearance of their nephew.
Is this the reason why Dan turned evil, humans have killed his family leaving him both angry and devastated that he let the world know of his pain?
PS: If someone out there wants to continue or make a fic about this you are free to do so, don’t forget to tag me though.
PPS: As you can see, I posted a bit early, I got a bunch of people to do and things to see. So uhh, bye-bye!
PPPS: This one got too long for my liking...

Tim Drake had a lot of free time.
In between the time little Timmy was deemed old enough to not need a nanny and his ninth birthday when he got his first film camera, Tim Drake had so much time after school to explore his big, empty house. And so he did, hours upon hours were spent exploring his house.
Mansion, Tim corrects himself. His house isn’t a house. It’s an abandoned mausoleum disguised as a mansion. He intimately knows every creak of the floorboards in the out of the way galleries, every heavy weight curtain shut closed so what little sun that makes it way through Gotham’s gloom is reflected in order to protect the artifacts stored within the walls. Tim probably knows the exact amount of fleur-de-lys on the fourth sitting room’s wall paper- by extrapolation from preexisting data and personal data collection. Basically, he laid on the floor and counted.
Tim had a lot of time. He also had a lot of artifacts to pore over, making stories as he goes and double checking the actual history of the object.
Tim thinks he’s an artifact, almost. To his parents, at least. A child, a thing, they collected at one point in their lives and put on display at the galas they deem worthy to return to Gotham for. Perhaps he’s worth even less, had his parents bothered to look at him more than the lesser art pieces in their storage-mansion. The story everyone knows about him is prerecorded by people who weren’t really there.
Regardless, Tim Drake knows every single corner of his prison mansion. He’s catalogued everything, after all, on a nice spreadsheet.
And that’s why, as he entered the fifth- and least used- guest bedroom, Tim’s attention immediately cut to the wrong bit of detail. Eyes flickering between the indent on the bed, the mussed- but not terribly dirty- state of the sheets, Tim slowly backed towards the door. His eyes fixed on the spot on the bed, he called out a soft “hello?”
He immediately cringed. He’s not an amateur, and that little “hello” was a mistake that might get him killed.
Tim trembled as the panic set in, tears pooling at his eyes. He wished Batman and Robin were here, they’d know how to-
There’s something appearing on the bed. Tim Drake stares as a glowing figure with white, wispy hair and a black hazmat suit appeared sitting cross crossed on the guest bed. His gloved hands were held out in the universal I-mean-no-harm gesture.
“Don’t- don’t panic!” The thing said, looking rather panicked itself. “I’m, uh, Phantom.”
Tim Drake’s curiosity and mystery-solving mindset slammed down on the toddler’s mind, quickly banishing the fear and panick in favor of interrogating this new, exciting thing.
“I’m Tim. Are you…” Tim frowns, wishing he had Batman’s intimidating growl. “A ghost?”
“Got it in one, kiddo. I’m, uh, not here to harm you. Or steal anything! I just wanted to rest.”
Tim blinked. He decided right then and there that he likes this person. This… Phantom. If his trust was based on the fact that the loneliness was worse than a dead person, no, it wasn’t.
“I thought you sleep when you’re dead..?”
——
Danny stared at the child in front of him, watching the kid- Tim- pout at something. Danny is distracted from the staples holding his ghostly guts from falling out of his non-consensual vivisection when the kid asks him if he’s a ghost.
“Got it in one, kiddo!” Oo, he should tone down the energy. Danny’s too tired right now to maintain that level when speaking to Tim. Now, gotta reassure the kid he means no harm before he reports Danny’s presence to whatever authorities around.
His parents, at best. The cops, at worst.
“I’m, uh, not here to harm you. Or steal anything!” He could tell he landed in some richie rich mansion by the opulent decorations in a seemingly impersonal room alone. “I just wanted to rest.”
Ancients, that had been more honest than he’d wanted. He really was out of it.
“I thought you sleep when you’re dead?”
Danny snorted.
“Yeah, but you can almost never have enough sleep, you know?”
The toddler looks unsure but nods anyways.
“Listen, would you… not tell anyone that I’m here? I’ll be out of your hair soon, promise.
Tim looks like a smart kid. There’s no way he’d fall for-
“Okay.” He fell for it. Danny blinked, stupefied. “My parents won’t be home for a while.”
“What.”
Tim shrugged. “You can stay. The housekeeper is only around a couple of days.”
“You… are you supposed to tell me that?”
Tim sent him a derisive look, clearly bolder now that Danny made no moves to hurt him.
On his cherubic but skinny face, the effect is both adorable and absolutely devastating.
“You’re hurt.” Tim fidgeted with his hands. “I can… I can get you water…?”
His core purred.
“Please. Thanks… Tim?”
The kid beamed at him and left.
Crap. New fraid member it is.
——
Danny, naive: “Surely him trusting strangers is just a one time thing, he’s so well behaved”
Tim, staring Danny in the eyes as he jumps out of the window to go stalk his vigilantes: “I’m gonna go take a walk in Crime Alley”
——
Tim gets Danny water, but it’s tap water from Gotham and is infected with both an ungodly amount of toxins (that doesn’t affect either of them bc one’s dead and the other had been chugging it since they were a baby- Gothamites get bottled water or from Wayne Foundation’s Clean Water Stations) and also like trace amounts of ectoplasm.
Danny: woah this is so healthy water!
Tim, pleased because Danny ruffled his hair: yes, I’m perfect
The rest of Gotham, if they knew: making warding sigils against these two eldritch gods
——
Basically, Danny gets attached and stays mostly because of said attachment but also Danny could see Tim’s budding world dictator tendencies and went yeah gotta curb that

So far ever since the new epic musical album came up I've been seeing a lot more people come up with the idea of the god games but Danny Phantom
And I was just imagining how funny if in that song Dan was Aphrodite and Danielle was Aries
I'm about to get more as Danielle being a goddess of trickery and chaos of all types and can being considered to be three-faced like having like a three-faced mask that she wears around a lot and using her ability to melt as a way to appear behind people vastly without them noticing and she's really protective over Dan since she considers herself to be his older sibling because in her opinion he came in the family last
Dan being the ancient of love being so terrifying because love can also be considered to be a scary thing with his symbol being eagles and stuff and he is much more terrifying and violated the most people expect from the god of love but also when he needs to be complete and loving
I imagine Tucker taking up the sense of being Apollo with him being The reincarnation of an old pharaoh they're kind of being like a lots of Egyptian things around him but also like a theme of more technologically advanced with him working on a PDA all kind of having modern clothes on with hints of Egyptian pharaoh
oh and Sam acting like Hephaestus would be more interested in the plant she has in her garden then the heroes her clothes are kind of nature-like invite but also give all of a sense of golfness with like her plant giving off the shape of a large Palace that looks terrifying on the outside but the inside is filled with plants of all types
I imagine Jazz has like a therapist like setting office but like it's a open Greek palace like things of gold and bright blues and just being laid around it looks like an conference room but also like an open Palace I feel like her simple animal being Wolf's and bears would be so funny also be a hint to the little bear plush that she owns
I kind of feel like Danny's level would be a mix of Jazz's and Sam's with Danny's being like an open Palace room that kind of has like the hints of someone young is there with random bean bags being scattered around or miniature handcraft spaceships but also stars all around I feel like it'd be cute if his symbol animal was jellyfish which like jellyfish Stars kind of like float around
But I've just been imagining that song with Danny Phantom x DC I can probably start off with the Justice League like always getting into something this year now than having to deal with the consequence of it and the consequences is six teenagers taking a vote or not to kill them
Tumblr media
Gods, I can’t wait for the Vengeance Saga
I am in love with the idea of Dan being Aphrodite and Dani being Ares, especially bc they’re both gods of war. And in EPIC, Aphrodite’s argument is about a mother’s love!! I hope you like the quick sketch of them :3
I don’t agree with a few of your ideas, but they all seem really fun. The idea of the Justice League having to argue against 6 teenagers is funny, bc imagine that they think they can argue against Dani and she just stabs them. Meanwhile, Jazz is like: so how did you feel when you got stabbed? when they come to her later to argue against her.
Actually, I also had thoughts about DP x EPIC, except Sam and Tucker were Odysseus (they shared the role idk) and Danny was Penelope. Jazz was Athena, Dani was Aeolus, and Dan was Scylla 😩

DPxDC prompt idea
So everyone believes Danny is some ancient being, and in this one, he IS.
In a time travel incident with clockwork he got stuck in like the beginning of time, clockwork got idk captured or something and wasn’t able to, or didn’t want to, get him out of the past before it happened, and Danny has been trying to find a natural portal for millennia to see what happened to clockwork, and to get back to his time. But they either don’t stay open long enough or he does go into one and appears in the past infinite realms, aligning with the time he’s in instead of the time he’s from.
He becomes a master at fitting in, learning all the languages keeping up with the fashion trends, both as Danny and as phantom.
He meets all the immortal heroes in this time, he avoids himself in the time periods he already time travelled to, and he just continues to be a hero throughout all of it. Knowing after the first 10 years he’s immortal as he hasn’t changed at all, he knows he’ll see his family and friends again one day, the thought playing in his head like a mantra for like 10,000 years, he sees a little bit of history everywhere, becoming a nomad, traveling from place to place, doing odd jobs for whatever currency his newest home uses, staying in inns or with whoever’s kind enough to let him, he’s in a constant state of mourning and keeping his need to protect fed and trying to keep his morale up, refusing to break
he does things like watching the Industrial Revolution and pushing oil and coal instead of the newly discovered substance ectoplasm, as ectoplasm is radioactive and they don’t have a way to make it safe, and they also don’t have any access to solar power yet and he wouldn’t know where to start. Sam was going to kill him.
He sabotages nazis in ww2, he frees prisoners in concentration camps, and he meets Wonder Woman, who has apparently heard stories about him.
He doesn’t do anything to change any major event, as much as it hurts, because clockwork isn’t here to guide him on what’s going to lead to something better or worse, and if he changes something too much he may never meet his friends again.
He’s finally in the 21st century.
He can see his friends again.
But…
He’s future Danny sent to the past by future clockwork, present Danny still has present clockwork, who is probably aware of what’s going to happen but isn’t going to say anything, future clockwork is nowhere to be seen, and Danny is finally in the 21st century. But he’s not their Danny.
Several more years of traveling, contemplating, saving people, reminding himself that his friends are so close and yet refusing to see them. His memory never changes, he barely forgot anything in 10,000 years, he still remembers their last conversation as if they’d just had it, but he also remembers all the friends he’d made in that time without them. He knows even if he doesn’t go back, he’ll be ok.
He can feel the portal open. He knows what’s happening. He almost wants to stop it just so that present him, past him, doesn’t experience this eternity. He doesn’t.
He leaves Illinois, he sees the debut of Superman, he sees the creation of the justice league

One or two hearts
Danny Damien Felt the Buzzing of the core in their stomach. The tests were positive and everything is stable. When they got back in contact with Phantom they did not expect this to happen.
Dani and Dan were hurt in the same battle that killed them. It had been over 300 years since the battle. Every time they think of the time that passed between the battle and their reincarnation they feel an aching pain in their core. It's been 300 years since dani and Dan were reverted back to their cores. It has also been 300 years since Danny Damian and Phantom were separated.
Since Phantom lost their human half they were not able to revert the cores back to hafas. Now with Danny Damien back they are safely able to bring them back. There may be side effects with them incubating the cores but they are so worth it. getting their family back is worth everything.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim did not expect to find what he did.
When Tim searched through security footage to look at how Stephanie set up her prank. He was expecting to find out that maybe she had an accomplice. Cass had been in town that week. He did not expect to find video of Damien having a meltdown in the hallway of the family wing.
When Tim first saw Damian on the footage he expected him to go to his room. What Actually happened in the footage was that he went from agitated to in tears. Tim rewound the footage back and turned on the audio. Damian turned into the hallway and held up his phone like he was waiting for someone to answer the phone. Damien's shoulders relaxed when it appeared someone had answered the phone but it did not seem to calm them down
“Sam” Damian seemed to start breathing heavily as they talked “Sam, the test was positive” they seemed to wait for a Response on the other line and whatever answer they got made them burst into tears “You're the first one I called. I just got back from frostbites. He said they're stable.”Tim had never seen Damien cry before, maybe on the verge of tears after a bad fear gas attack but never in tears.
“Of course I tried to call him. I think he's in some sort of meeting I couldn't get through” Damien took a few deep breaths as they listened to the other voice on the line reply.”The only symptoms I should be worried about in the beginning are tiredness but I was warned of nausea as well”
Tim was very concerned as they continued to talk about symptoms and making appointments.  Tim assumed frostbite was a doctor but there was no one in any files with a name close to frostbite nor a code name. Tim was checking for anyone named Sam In their system but with no last name or description or even gender they couldn't really find much to narrow down.
The date of security footage was 2 weeks ago. Tim had just finished the case he was working on when Stephanie did her prank. He thought he would get revenge for the prank not to figure out Damian was ill. now that Tim thought it over Damian's did seem to be tired. He had no idea that he'd been ill but he was a lot less snarky. Tim had a thought that he'd worn himself out with training or was not in a talkative mode. In the footage Damian seemed to lose all of the posh words and Superior tone he usually uses.
“I'm having a kid not a parasite”
Someone could be screaming right in Tim's ear and they wouldn't even flinch. Tim had no idea what to think with that sentence. What does Damien mean they're having a kid.
Tim thought over the symptoms that they were talking about. All of them did seem like pregnancy symptoms. Tim didn't even know  Damien could get pregnant. They were 17. By the way the conversation continued to go it seemed that the pregnancy would be heavily monitored.
Tim had so many questions. Who was the other parent? How is it possible for them to be pregnant? So many questions were raised in their head. Tim was happy that they were alone when they were looking at the footage, otherwise someone would ask and they did not want to explain.
Tim does not want to be the one to explain this to bruce.
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(If anyone wants to add on to this I would love to see people's add ons.)

Things I’ve learned about Danny Phantom after finally watching it as a person who avoided watching it for months and read fanfiction instead. 👍🏻✨
Spoiler warning, just in case!
They call themselves the Phandom. (Super cute, I love it, 10/10)
Everything, and I mean Absolutely Everything I’ve learned, is a fucking Lie. (Not fun. I have to rewrite my entire understanding. I feel betrayed. Offended. Gobsmacked. My flabbers are mf gasted. -5/10)
The show is actually really funny. (I enjoyed my experience. 9/10)
Fuck Phantom Planet. (What the fuck was that shit? Um, rewind, redo, no thx, give me back the ghostie boy please. I genuinely didn’t even finish the episode, I got to where he un-died and had to turn it off. I refuse to watch it now. 0/10)
The Phandom was right to steal canon and make it our bitch. (Trans Danny? More Dani/Ellie screen time? Actual plot and lore for the show? Actual in-depth thought to ghosts and their culture? Um, yes please. 1000/10)
Frostbite actually is a doctor. (I don’t know why, but I thought it was another thing the Phandom made up. Love to see it, 10/10)
Wes Weston deserves his own episode. (What do you mean he doesn’t actually exist. What do you mean I don’t get my LGBTQ+ undertones. This is homophobic /j. -10/10)
How do you tell when a ghost is intangible, invisible, or both?? (The show doesn’t have a differentiator between the two, so I’m always confused if people can just see him floating through walls. 3/10)
Guys in White literally do nothing but be annoying. (Another case of the Phandom Lying to us. I love it though, they make really good antagonists. 7/10)
The Fentons are stupid and mildly aggressive, but they do love their kids. (I read a lot of vivisection, child neglect, and general Bad Parents fics so excuse me on that front. 8/10)
Danny didn’t actually beat Pariah Dark? (I love the Ghost King Danny fics, so to find out all he did was shove him into a sarcophagus was a bit of a bummer. He struggles more with Undergrowth than the actual king, like?? 6/10)
He can reach inside himself to take things out. (He ate a spoon in one ep and just reached inside himself to take it out. Pretty cool. 9/10)
Is he actually dead? (Phantom Planet makes it seem as if he just got a bit too high a dose of ectoplasm in his system and it fucked him up, how else could he have just undone the damage? But, most of the Phandom says he legit died in the portal, in which case he could not have gone in and just un-killed himself like he did in Phantom Planet. I think he died, personally. More trauma and angst for my writing. ??/10)
Clockwork appears a lot less than I thought he would. So does Frostbite. (I thought with how much they appear in the Phandom, they must have really important and constant roles, but no. They appear very rarely. Sad face. 5/10)
Vlad sucks. (Vlad fucking sucks. 0/10)
Dani/Ellie is much younger in appearance than I thought. (I looked her up for reference when I first started reading the fics, but she looked 14-15. She actually looks 6-7 years old in show. They literally call her a kid. 8/10)
Dani is what she chose to be called, not a funny joke the Phandom played on itself. (I though it was a silly little haha moment. Nope. The show just… named her that. I think Ellie is the Phandoms choice in calling her?? 8/10)
Why is Danny obsessed with Paulina even while crushing on Sam? (He is actively blushing and flirting with Sam and then they’ll turn around and he’s jumping at the chance to talk to Paulina?? Hate it. 0/10)
Danny and Dash don’t actually date. (I saw this circle around the Phandom a bit, thought it was cute if a bit weird, and then it didn’t happen? 6/10)
No obsessions, no cores, no real reason for the ghosts to be terrorizing Amity Park. (I legit thought it was real in-verse stuff, I’m so disappointed in the lack of it in the show. It could have been so good. 3/10)
Danny doesn’t actually become friends with his ghosts. (They don’t really get along, ever. They don’t talk outside of fighting, except for those who actually like him. Missed opportunity. 4/10)
His Space obsession is actually just a few mentions of him wanting to be an astronaut? (I thought he genuinely had an obsession with the stars and we’d see a lot of him stargazing or word-vomiting about his hyper fixation, but no. Sad. 4/10)
He does go stargazing (maybe?) and flies around when he’s not fighting. (We see him going off as Phantom in the episode where Jazz finds out about him. There are no battles and he looks like he’s having fun flying around. 10/10)
He was called Inviso-Bill?? (Hilarious, I love it, why did no one ever tell me this. 7/10)
He says “Going Ghost!” every time he transforms. Every fucking time. (It’s annoying, it’s ugly, I hate it. I am so glad no fics mentioned this or used it, I think I’d go insane. -1000/10)
That’s all I got for today, and probably for a while. I just wanted to write it down for fun, but I might post more like this eventually.

Tim Drake gets thrown forward in time and quickly gets adopted by his evil alternate future self Pheonix and his husband Phantom. The three of them live on a space station orbiting the Earth.
The real issue is that they think he's a clone and they are babying him. He doesn't know what they will do when they find out he isn't actually a clone.
They have been more than accommodating and have let him snoop around to his hearts content, even going so far and to come up behind him while he's trying to hack into thier computer and just casually putting in the passwords for him.
That was embarrassing. How is Phantom so stealthy??? He loves his future evil self as wierd as that sounds. He showed him how to use thier wierd coffee machine and made both of them ten shot espressos.
The entire time there was spent in domestic bliss. How are either of these people villains? The room went silent when asked.
Appearently older Tim's story began when he accidentally killed a pit raged Jason in self defense. The batfam took it way worse than anyone would have thought, especially when the Lazarus Pits failed to revive him again. He was treated coldly as they grieved and tried to find comfort in his friends at the time, but not many people were available.
He stayed in different places, not wanting to head back to the manor and face his family, eventually he caught a signal from a space station that supposedly didn't exist and went to investigate.
Inside he found numerous crumpled bodies, all in white suits. All dead. The station itself looked oddly in tact despite obvious signs of a struggle. Eventually he found Phantom bleeding out on the floor, the destroyed remains of a metal muzzle were still on the ghosts face and Tim made quick work of removing it so he could speak easier.
Tim nursed Phantom back to health in the station and the ghost made the bodies disappear. Tim never learned what he did with all of them.
Over time Danny revealed what he was and who the GIW were and began answering all his questions. They chose to stay in the station and Phantom began renovating it to be more of a home than a workplace.
The real problems arose when people discovered the station and by extention, Phantom. He defended himself using his powers which caught the attention of both the Justice League and many villains.
The Justice League offered him protection and wanted him to join them, the villains wanted his power and made no effort to hide that fact. Phantom saw them as one in the same. All Danny wanted was to stay in the space station with Tim, who he already had a massive crush on. He didn't mind the swirling darkness he sensed inside of Red Robin, he had it in himself too after all.
At some point the station was under attack and Phantom killed a whole bunch of people to defend himself and his home, something the JL didn't particularly like and Batman himself offered to take him under his wing and train him to fight without killing.
That's when Tim revealed himself and stood next to Phantom, "He already has a teacher"
Things only went downhill from there.

Random thought I had with Constantine and Pariah Dark I guess?
So basically, Constantine kind of gets fucked over somehow and then his soul is given up to the Ghost King, much to his obvious chargin.
So, he tries to figure out ways to get out of it but nothing he does seems to be working, and then when he finally meets the ancient eldritch abomination who laid claim over his soul it doesn't go the way he expected.
Instead of idk, torturing him or using him as a power source or whatever, instead he has to babysit a kid????
Pariah Dark: John Constantine. As my soul bound servant until the day you die and after death itself, you have been given the responsibility to take care of the high prince of the ghost realm and my combat adopted son Phantom.
Pariah Dark doesn't even give him a chance to respond: Fright Knight, to me!
A massive medieval ghost knight then appears from out of nowhere, filling Constantine with an unnatural fear and dread for whatever reason.
Then they just leave to go and off an entire planet cause while Danny was in space, they attacked him for like no reason realm (It could be any reason you want to be honest).
And like the overprotective son of a bitch Pariah Dark is he's gonna kill off about probably a good 50-80% of their race.
Would have been a complete purge if Danny didn't like that idea.
So now Constantine is forced to take care of this random ghost teen motherfucker and becomes an unwilling uncle.
Zatanna:
Constantine:
Zatanna: So who-
Constantine: Don't. Even.

A deal with the Ghost King
First previous next AO3
Duke wasn't sure what was going on. He was about to head back home when he got an message from Dick, calling him to the theathre district. It didn't sound serious, but when Duke found almost the entire family on the roof he grew concerned. 'Hey guys, I'm here. What's going on?' Damian scoffed. 'Dick is being foolish. This is a complete waste of time.' 'Says the one that's been hogging the binoculers, gimme those!' Tim grabbed for the binoculers, making Damian fight for them. Duke was a bit confused. 'Do you guys want to tell me what's going on, or can I head home? Some of us sleep at night, you know.' Cass appeared behind him, startling him: 'Jason's dating.' 'Wait, really? Who?' Duke joined Dick and Stephanie by the roof's edge, hoping to catch a glimpse. He might not talk much with Jason, but he was still curious who would try and date Mr. Dufflebag. Some type of femme fatale maybe? Or maybe someone who was strong? He couldn't imagine someone waltzing up and just asking Jason out. He was very suprised when Jason left the theatre with some twinkish guy.
'So, what did you think? The main actrice really put her everything into her peformance!' Jason had taken Phantom to the theatre after lunch to see a play. 'I loved it! I never liked the book, but this was much better!' Danny had a good time, he had been pleasantly suprised. Jason was suprised. 'Wait, you don't like the book? You could've told me, so we could have gone to a different one.' Danny waved him off. 'It's fine, I didn't want to be rude. Last time I dragged you al across the Astronomy museum, remember? You didn't whine either. Besides, I liked it! Guess reading the book for a grade wasn't helping me enjoy it.' Jadon groaned. 'Reading for a grade. Nothing kills love for books faster!' Danny laughed, admitting one of his rogues was more likely to blame. 'Remind me to tell you about Ghostwriter, now THAT kills love for books!' Jason smiled, and kissed Danny. Suddenly he noticed something above them. It almost looked like... 'Is something wrong?' Danny noticed Jason grew alert. 'Nah, It's nothing. I just noticed the sun had gone down. I... wanted to watch the sunset with you.' Danny smiled at Jason. 'Just like in the play, huh? Never thought the Red Hood was such a romantic!' Jsson grew a bit embarrassed. 'I have an idea!' Danny grabs Jason's hand and pulls him into an alley.
Dick was confused. How could they have lost them! This alley was a dead end, and the whole family (minus Bruce) was here! Damian was pouting. 'If I had been in charge of this operation we wouldn't have lost them!' Duke didn't know how Jason had done this. One second they were here, and gone the next. Even his vision couln't expkain it. Tim, Cass and Stephanie were searching for secret escape routes. It wasn't like they had flown away!
Meanwhile, high above them Danny and Jason flew invisibly, enjoying their own second sunset.

I need to shout into the void, ok? DP x DC narrative comparison There´s a parallel to draw between Batman's narrative and Danny Phantom's narrative, specifically focusing on Danny's and Batman's approach to their main villains. Batman is such a cool character BECAUSE of his villains, at its hearth, Gotham's charm, Batman's charm, comes from being able to see a villain in Batman.
Batman would be an okay-ish concept for a villain and the fact that he's the hero makes him impossible to hate, but his ideas are all ill and screwed and I cannot, for the life of me, be mad at Batman, someone that just doesn't know when to quit on people, when to quit on hope. Danny is a sort of opposite, he is the narratives hero. He has a sort of hero complex and feels a responsibility for his antagonists that Batman doesn't actually have. Danny directly correlates having his powers to the idea of the ghosts appearing in the first place and that is why he feels responsible for them, but he doesn't necessarily think that people are good for the sake of it, that everybody can be good.
Batman lets you think about irredeemable characters having enough humanity to create good. Batman is a character with enough flaws to create humanity, to create an idea specific to Gotham; redemption through inaction, redemption through not killing them, believing that its something they can come around to. No matter the evil they create, they are still human. Batman considers himself as someone that came around, and he acts like it. Danny Phantom gives you leeway into thinking everybody is redeemable, with a limit. There's humanity in everybody and THAT'S how you redeem them. Danny is a character with enough flaws for the hero complex to stop working. He is selfish, entitled, he needs to use his powers for good, because logically he knows he has to assume responsibility for threats nobody else can stop, but he doesn't always stand for it. You can't redeem someone without good in them, not everybody is made to be redeemed but everybody should be given the choice. Danny Phantom talks about a hero that doesn't want to be a hero but that doesn't despise it, he reacts to having to clean his room the same way he reacts to a ghost attack (maybe not so much in the urgency of it, but the overall reaction). Danny is redemption through action; he saw himself lose his humanity, he saw himself be irredeemable, it was too late for him. He saw a future that showed the consequences of not changing his ways, he saw himself become what he thought he opposed and he had to actively change himself to avoid it, he had to mark a before and an after on what he did. Batman tries to redeem his villians because he sees himself in them but Danny doesn't because he sees himself in them. Danny would never try to redeem the joker because he never tried to redeem himself and he doesn't feel guilt about his actions and Batman tries to redeem everyone because he still thinks of himself as guilty but redeemable. Just, Batman can't kill joker, but Danny could.

Dad War
Danny Fenton became a father and he's not panicking at all (this is a lie)
Danny should have known that asking for an uneventful week was an exaggeration. He tempted fate by saying that "nothing bad could happen now that ghosts and humans lived in peace with each other"
Of course, it was right after saying that sentence that his daughter cousin appeared in front of him with her arm melted. Having gotten used to that particular scenario he steered her into his ecto-dejecto reserves, both of them panicked when this didn't solve anything.
With no more options, Danny took her to Far Frozen, surely the Yeti would have a better idea of what was happening to the girl.
Frostbite examined Ellie just like the first time but instead of scowling like Danny had expected he looked extremely pleased, almost satisfied.
"The time has finally come" Frostbite told him happily "you must let it happen, Great One"
"Do I have to let Ellie melt down!?" Danny yelled in concern, he never thought the Yeti had a sadistic streak in him. Ellie looked just as shaken by the information.
"Not like you're thinking" The Yeti noticed his mistake and decided to explain himself "she's not melting, she's stabilizing"
"If I'm stabilizing, why is my arm goo?" Ellie groaned, the sensation of melting never failed to be strange.
"That explanation is much simpler" Frostbite smiled "how old are you, little Phantom?"
"Uh" Ellie tried to assign herself an age, she aged much slower than the other halfas "16?"
"You didn't understand the question, I didn't mean how you look" Frostbite denied affectionately "how old do you consider yourself?"
“…5” Ellie muttered in embarrassment, even if her age was a bit older than that number, she felt much younger, like a child. She didn't count her early years, between Vlad and traveling the world she hadn't begun to think about it.
Even with all the knowledge stored in her head, she wanted to experience a childhood like other children, to make friends. Something that her adolescent appearance did not allow. As much as Ellie loved talking to Val, she was one of her only friends and unlike her, Val had a whole life to live.
"There is your explanation" The yeti pointed out "ghosts take the appearance of how they see themselves, your core takes into account your wishes and therefore you are reforming into a child"
Danny remembered when he first shifted into his ghost form and Frostbite explanation made sense, but his head reminded him of a very important detail.
"Wouldn't that be troublesome? A lot of people in Amity know you as my cousin” Danny pointed out worriedly. The secret of the halfas was still closely guarded.
"Well, there is a way to leave her appearance the same as it currently is, but that's up to her" Frostbite looked at the girl waiting for an answer.
"No" Ellie denied "I want it to happen, I also...I also want to have a childhood, like the others"
Ellie had always felt bitter about being the only halfa exploring the concept of death more than life; unlike Vlad and Danny who had lived fairly normal lives before their respective accidents, she had been robbed of the possibility.
She wanted to live too.
"It's settled then," Frostbite nodded "Now, this is just getting started and someone has to look after your core while you reform. Do you have any candidates in mind?"
"Danny, can you?" Ellie asked, taking the sleeve of his suit, she wouldn't have considered asking anyone else. Even if she didn't admit it, Ellie always saw him as her father.
"You don't even have to ask, I'll be here when you get back" Danny ruffled her hair with a smile.
"Thank you, dad" Ellie closed her eyes as she let herself be carried away by the sensation of her core. It was a little strange that what she thought would kill her was fulfilling her dreams.
Before the halfa could reply to the comment, Ellie melted, and the ectoplasm was quickly absorbed into her core.
Danny looked at the green stone in his hands with concern.
"How long do you think it will take her?" he asked the Yeti.
"A couple of hours" Frostbite sat down next to him "it's hard being a new parent isn't it? I still remember when my children were born"
Danny avoided mentioning that he had no idea about his children. He wondered if he had them in life or death.
"I- Ellie is my cousin," Danny tried to tell him, but his argument sounded weak.
"She doesn't seem to see you as such" The Yeti shrugged as he handed the boy a cup of tea, but the halfa refused to take it as long as he held the stone in his hands.
Frostbite snorted while setting the mug aside, a new parent, in fact.
"Uh, looks like it's time for me to leave my parents house, don't you think?" Danny tried to joke, even Jazz had her own house in another place.
He had temporarily tried it when he was balancing his college life with his spooky duties, living with Sam and Tucker was fun but in the end he came home.
"It seems so" The Yeti shrugged "congratulations, it's a girl"
Danny laughed as he held the stone closer to his chest. He had really become a father, hadn't he?
His core purred at the thought, while an invisible thread connected the two half-ghosts.
Being a parent didn't sound bad. Maybe it wasn't even as hard as people made it out to be.
───────────────
Danny regrets that last thought, he regrets it so much.
He just had to think that, didn't he?
As usual, he called Jazz to inform her of the day's events as he held the stone to his chest (Frostbite had told him it was safe to do so).
Jazz didn't seem too surprised by the news, on the contrary, she started recommending him books on parenting, so many books.
Danny tried to tell her that Ellie probably wouldn't be a difficult child, he got a 30-minute lecture on how she'd probably regress to the mental age of 5 or 6, and therefore he had to be prepared for it.
Deciding to listen to his older sister, Danny googled for advice.
Checking on wikihow how to take care of a child didn't work, Danny could attest to that.
The halfa sighed as he looked at the "I'll bring you some books tomorrow" message that Jazz had send him. Did he really have to read?
It couldn't be that hard, right? His parents took care of Jazz and she ended well!
Danny was ignoring Sam's voice in his head saying that "Jazz is the spiders georg of children and should not be counted"
Of course, Danny was also avoiding to look at the fact that his parents also took care of him and he kinda died. Ellie was already half dead so he couldn't fucked up that part.
He put his phone aside as he stared at the stone on his chest. It had been hours, was Ellie okay? Perhaps something had gone wrong?
He frowned wondering if he should call Frostbite when he noticed the glowing core. Before he knew it he had a 5-year-old girl crushing his stomach.
"Ouch," Danny groaned in pain "fatherhood hurts"
"Daddy! Daddy!" Ellie jumped on his stomach, she didn't seem to notice the change in title "Look! Look! Do you like my new look?"
Realizing that Jazz was right, Danny pretended to think for a few minutes, Ellie looked bummed out at his lack of response.
"Of course I love it!" Danny scooped her up into his arms as she giggled "you look perfect!"
Ellie chuckled as she ran off to Danny's room where she had kept his phone before the whole mess.
"I'll be back soon! I have to tell Val!" The girl ran off, probably forgetting that she could go through the ceiling and get to the room faster.
Danny gave her a thumbs up, as soon as Ellie disappeared down the stairs he lay back on the couch rubbing his stomach. His daughter had strength.
"We're definitely moving" he muttered, closing his eyes. Not in a million years would a girl with that much energy go unnoticed.
Danny checked his phone again and saw messages from Sam and Tucker. The halfa pouted, Jazz was a gossip.
───────────────
"Are you sure you have everything?" Tucker asked, checking a list on his PDA. No matter how many years passed, he still loved his technology and refused to throw it away.
"Definitely sure" Danny yawned as he loaded the boxes onto the GAV. Ellie was asleep in the passenger seat.
"Papers?" Tucker checked the list.
"Legal and illegal" Danny held up a folder "Thanks for that, by the way"
"You're welcome man" Tucker shrugged. He had created Ellie's papers a while back, but they had never been needed. Adapting the age was a surprise.
"Food? Money? Clothes?" Tucker recited the list, to Danny's nod he continued, "materials to put together the new portal?"
"Ready" Danny pointed to the box that said "danger", there were also the ectoplasm samples.
"I still think that's a stupid idea" Sam rolled her eyes "that thing killed you"
"Yes, but we need ectoplasm on a regular basis and well, building one was the easiest way to get it" the halfa shrugged. It still made him shudder to think about the accident but the portal was necessary "Besides, portals don't measure distance in the Realms, I can build one that's only a few feet from home"
Also, having Far Frozen close to them was always an advantage and the ghosts had promised not to invade the new town without his permission. He still couldn't believe he was moving to New Jersey.
"That's the only reason I'm letting you get away with it," Jazz snorted as she bent down to kiss her brother's forehead "Remember, we're just a phone call away"
"I know, I know, you don't need to move out as well" Danny shook his head amused, he felt that if he didn't stop them they would really try to " I never thought I would have to move"
"It's been so long since the accident" Sam remembered as she placed a hand on her hip "even though it seems like yesterday"
"It feels like it happened yesterday" Danny admitted while touching the scar on his hand. The memories of the electrocution were still fresh in his mind.
"By the way dude, are you sure to leave Vlad as her biological father?" Tucker winced at the document, he could see the reason but he didn't like it.
"Of course, that idiot must pay me child support" Danny smiled "eat the rich and all that"
Having an excuse to spend Vlad's money was always fun. And if his stupid biological sex could help that, he would use it. Danny was honestly relieved that his legal documents had been changed. He wondered if Vlad knew the real reason why he was never able to create a male clone.
"You could just ask us for money" Sam patted his shoulder "Tucker and I could support your poor ass"
Both had been very successful in their respective fields. Sam had graduated in law and was getting another degree as an Environment Protection Technician, she had changed a lot in a short time. On the other side, Tucker had created his own Technology & Security company, he was currently negotiating a deal with Wayne Enterprises.
Danny had a feeling that his friend wanted to use him to close a deal and had suggested the city as an option for that reason. Bludhaven wasn't far from Gotham after all.
"Just because I'm unemployed doesn't mean I'm poor" Danny pouted "I'll get a job in the new town before you know it"
"I hope so, your savings aren't going to stretch that long" Jazz sighed. Her brother's lack of planning never ceased to be worrisome "Oh, and don't forget to take off your blinder, you need to breathe"
Danny frowned at the comment but nodded. His ghost form was more comfortable because it suited his chosen gender, he wondered if he could change the human as well.
"Okay, I guess that's it" Tucker put the PDA away  "remember not to drive like either of your parents, we don't want you to get a ticket so quickly"
"Nor that the weather news announces when you're going out" Sam smirked, she remembered when Lance Thunder started announcing when Jazz and Danny were learning to drive.
"That's impossible, you know I'm an excellent driver and therefore I'm not going to get a ticker" Danny stuck out his tongue at his best friend.
"Whatever you say Danny" Sam snorted "call us when you get there, and have a safe trip!"
His friends and sister said goodbye to him as he got on the GAV. He started driving away from home. It wasn't long before he passed the "Welcome to Amity Park" sign. The little ghost drawings around it made him smile.
Still, Danny was offended by the skepticism of his friends, he was sure that he was not going to get a ticket anytime soon.
───────────────
An officer was giving him a ticket.
Danny banged his head against the steering wheel of the vehicle as the police officer asked him the routine questions.
"Does this vehicle have a license?" The officer raised an eyebrow. Danny sighed as he handed over the GAV papers, he had licensed all of his parents' inventions long ago "Okay- wait, is this a SUV?"
"No, it's a GAV" Danny growled without further explanation, he was still annoyed by the situation. Clockwork was laughing at him from his damned tower, he was sure "Do you need anything else, officer...Grayson?"
Officer Grayson looked at the vehicle with doubt, the damn thing had more modifications than the Batmobile, he really hoped the boy wasn't some future villain.
He had so many questions to ask.
Before Dick could question him further or Danny risked murder on his first day in town, Ellie woke up from her nap.
"Daddy?" Ellie yawned looking at the driver's seat curiously "Are we there yet?"
All the halfa's anger melted away and his attitude took a complete turn.
"No honey, we got pulled over for speeding but we're in town now" Danny leaned down to brush her hair out of her face "you can go back to sleep"
"You're a bad driver" his daughter smirked, she wondered if driving skills were hereditary.
"Are you new in town?" Dick leaned in curiously, the girl reminded him of his own daughter.
Danny was about to tell him it was none of his business but Ellie answered first.
"¡Yes! We're moving" Ellie smiled "That's why we brought all the boxes, I'm going to enroll in a new school and dad is going to get a job"
"That sounds wonderful" Dick smiled softly as he handed Danny the ticket along with the GAV's papers "You should be more careful on the streets, I don't think there is anywhere that accepts 120 km/hr as a normal speed"
The halfa frowned, didn't the officer have a heart!? At least he could forgive a new neighbor for a silly mistake!
"Yeah, yeah, thanks" he murmured as he put the ticket in the glove compartment.
"Well, all seems to be in order" Dick straightened up "you can follow your way, enjoy Bludhaven!"
Danny hoped that he would never see him again.
When he arrived at his new house, the halfa carried Ellie to the couch and let her sleep, after which he began to unload the things from the GAV.
He wondered if he should start unpacking everything or just sleep. He felt tired at the thought of opening all those boxes and fell asleep on the couch with his daughter.
When he woke up it was night, Danny peeked out of the window as he heard a motorcycle park next door. Perhaps he could see his neighbors?
He gaped at the sight of fucking Officer Grayson reaching down to grab a little girl and carry her into his arms.
Wasn't it enough to be physically perfect and heartless, but he also had to be a good father? Damn everything!
It had to be a fucking joke

Meet my AU Smiling Critters: New Life
It's actually my AU crossover (Smiling Critters + Danny Phantom)
Tumblr media
Now let me explain about what is it about..ehem..
So
In my AU Smiling Critters: New Life is about:
Dogday was 12 years old at the time, well, he was still little like Varvara (Angel “as he calls her now”), but she was 3 years older than him, he then promised her as a child that when he grew up, he would find her and then will already propose to meet. She, of course, thought that this might not happen, she said that we’ll see...whether we can see each other or not..
Tumblr media
a week later, the girl moved to another city because her parents quarreled and her mother took her to a quiet town where she could find normal friends, since her mother did not approve of some kind of dog being friends with her, and her father The girls were not against her friendship with him and others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next week DogDay came to the house where she used to live, he wanted to call her, but her father came out instead and said that she moved to the city ahead of time... and all because of this quarrel, to be honest, he was upset that Varvara moved to another city without even saying goodbye.
Some time passes, DogDay did not forget about her and when he was a little older he noticed that CatNap had become somehow strange, CatNap began to look at people as if he was not happy with them, he became very silent and always says “The prototype is our god ...he must be worshiped...and whoever rejects him...will be punished." The smiling friends then also noticed this, one of them, of course, did not listen to him like the others, and after that... they began to disappear every day. DogDay noticed how his friends were slowly disappearing, he realized that something was wrong... and when he found out what happened to them... and as it turned out, Catnap was killing them in his house.
Tumblr media
Having seen the terrible picture, DogDay then began to be afraid of him, without having time to say a word, he felt the soporific red smoke and for that he fell asleep. CatNap didn’t kill him, but simply took him to his basement to tie him up there. But The next week DogDay tried to free himself from those ropes, and he did it, he also tried to get out of this place and find someone who will help him. So he did escaped from the window (in the basement was the window) and goes to Varvara's father to ask him for help, so Varvara's father saw him in very bad state and he treat his wounds..and after that he called the police and explained everything about what happened in CatNap's house. When the police arrived at the address where CatNap lived, they saw a terrible picture, but they did not find the killer himself because he fled the crime scene.
When 2-3 weeks passed after the murder of DogDay's friends, he was very tired, broken and very hungry, since he had not eaten anything since what happened, but he only ate food little by little. Varvara’s father temporarily sheltered DogDay so that he could receive treatment, if DogDay’s parents see this, they can definitely start moving to another city
DogDay grew up and CatNap disappeared somewhere. In one day Varvara's father talked to DogDay about he already grown up and he should move to the Amity park to find his daughter and live with her, he did accepted him when DogDay was a teenage boy who was in love with his angel.
Tumblr media

Haunting With Dinosaurs (1)
Danny is summoned by a powerful occult practitioner named Victor Veloci, who wants him to bring dinosaurs back to life. It sounds absurd, but Danny is bound to him and cannot refuse, even though he can't actually bring dinosaurs back to life. Instead, he merges the ghosts of five dinosaurs with the bodies of the five human sacrifices Veloci used to summon him, restoring them to life as dinosaur halfas. And that's only the beginning.
Written for @crossoverdanuary Week, Day 4: Any Fandom Dino Squad | Element
Read it on AO3 also, Watch Dino Squad on YouTube it sucks (affectionate)
Danny is slightly aged up to be 18 and a recent high school graduate, also this is a ghost king Danny AU, and obviously Phantom Planet didn't happen, but other than that, no major changes have been made to DP lore in this fic.
As for Dino Squad, I've made some pretty significant changes, but they pretty much boil down to: This is a supernatural AU, so it won't have canon-typical Dino Squad made-up science. All other changes are explained in the actual fic as they come up.
I'm lowkey assuming that the majority of people who read this will not have seen Dino Squad, so I've made sure to describe all the DS elements a little more thoroughly than the DP elements so those of you who haven't seen Dino Squad can understand what's going on.
"Italicized dialogue" indicates speech that can only be heard in the POV character's head. (Caruso in this chapter)
Chapter 1: So, You're Finally Awake
Previous | Next
[Warning for descriptions of several different types of ritualistic deaths with varying degrees of detail, some of them being more graphic than others]
Caruso woke up slowly. That was normal.
He liked to stretch out in the warm comfort of his lush bed, breathe in the flowery sent of his air freshener, and adjust to the sunlight streaming through his window before he got up, did his morning exercises and started his skincare routine.
Unfortunately for him, he did not appear to be in his lush bed. The air, still and stale, carried the sharp metallic scent of blood, mixed with mold and must. Definitely not honey-suckle and jasmine. And the dim, yellowish light cast by the single caged bulb above him was hardly comparable to the morning sun.
For some reason, as he tested the ropes that tied him to a wooden chair, he was guessing his skincare routine would have to wait.
Still, it was a bit of an improvement from how he expected he was going to wake up last night, which was: not at all. Suffering a death by a thousand cuts was not typically conducive to waking up in the morning without a scratch on you. Too bad he couldn't say the same thing for his clothes, which were completely shredded and covered in blood.
This was a silk shirt, too. There wasn't even enough undamaged fabric left to make a pocket square out of. Maybe he could use it for silk fringe on something. If he could get the blood stains out, of course.
When he finally looked around properly, he saw that he was one of five people, sitting in a circle of chairs with their backs to each other. He had to crane his neck to see the other four, but still, he recognized them. They were the same four people he'd been tied up with last night. The four people he'd watched die before he himself was killed.
Caruso jumped as much as his bonds would allow and whipped his head around as he heard a scream to his left. The girl sitting there was shrieking at the top of her lungs.
She had thick, red hair, with blunt-cut bangs. He remembered seeing her last night. Watching her get disemboweled, her entrails spilling out over a black pentagram. He wished he could forget.
They went to the same school... she was in his AP bio class, he thought. What was her name?
"Fi... Fiona," he said, hoping that was right. "Are you hurt?"
"I... I... no," she said. She was panting, frantically looking down at herself, shaking her head like she couldn't believe what she saw. "I was... I died. Her clothes looked undamaged, but the blood on the hem of her once-white T-shirt still looked damp.
"Yeah, I remember," Caruso said. It had been especially grizzly, but at least it had been fairly quick, comparatively. As the last to be sacrificed, Caruso had had the horror of watching the rest of them die before him. They weren't all lucky enough to bleed out in seconds. "I did too. Seems like we're fine now, though... somehow."
"How are you so calm?" Fiona demanded, sounding on the verge of hyperventilating.
"I don't know," he said. Caruso had never really been the type to freak out when something bad happened, but even for him, this seemed way too calm for what had happened.
"Death is inevitable," said a voice in his head. "It comes and it goes. It's gone now, so why bother about it?"
"Uh... what?" Caruso muttered.
"Caruso?" Fiona asked, and he turned back to her. "It's Caruso, right?"
He nodded.
"How are we alive?"
"I don't know," he answered. He nodded his head toward the three other people tied to chairs behind them. They hadn't woken up when Fiona screamed, but their injuries from last night were gone. "Are they alive?"
"I don't know," she said, craning her neck to look at them. "Are you also hearing a weird voice in your head?"
Caruso swallowed and bit his lip before answering. What he wouldn't do for some lip balm right about now.
"Yeah."
A groan attracted their attention next. One of the others had woken up. This one Caruso recognized immediately. Max Maxwell, real name Rolf, poor guy. Varsity quarterback, big man on campus, and Caruso's sophomore crush—but he was totally over it now.
Max had been stabbed last night, Caruso hadn't counted how many times. Not shallow cuts like Caruso, but deep enough that they could hear the bones crack. First his feet, then hands, then wrists and ankles, knees, elbows, hips, shoulders, abdomen, chest, and finally his eyes. He probably hadn't died until the killer reached his torso.
It was no wonder he seemed so frantic and disoriented. That was a nasty way to go. To his credit though, he'd gritted his teeth though it and didn't give their murderer the satisfaction of hearing him scream.
"You linger too much. Focus on the present time. It is the only thing that matters."
"What... how... where?" Max said. Incoherent, but who could blame him.
"We're not dead," Caruso explained. "We're still in that freak's basement though, it looks like. He hasn't even cleaned up the blood."
"I'm not bleeding," Max said. "Nothing even hurts, how—what was that?!"
"Voice in your head?" Caruso guessed. "We've got 'em too."
"We don't know how we're alive and unharmed..." Fiona shuddered, "physically anyway—God knows I'm gonna have nightmares about last night for the rest of my life. I'd bet those voices are related, but mine just keeps talking about how much she craves fish."
"I think big guy's gonna wake up next," Caruso said, nodding toward him. It seemed like they were waking up in the opposite order that they'd died. He wasn't sure if that was significant or just the way the cookie crumbled.
"Rodger," Max said. "He's the smartest kid in school, how'd he end up in this."
"Are you saying the rest of us are here because we're idiots?" Fiona shot back.
"No, it's just... I mean, if anyone could have avoided something like this, I would have bet on him," Max attempted to clarify. "I guess nobody could have."
Just as Caruso had guessed, Rodger woke up next and immediately started taking deep, gasping breaths. Nothing'll make a man savor oxygen like having his throat slit and drowning in his own blood, Caruso supposed.
"I'm alive," Rodger panted out. "This isn't a hospital. How am I alive? How am I talking already? Who said that?"
Almost the instant after the three of them had gotten Rodger up to speed on what they knew about the situation, their fifth and final companion woke up, screaming like he was still on fire. Neil Buzzmati, AKA Buzz. Him, Caruso recognized from school. He made himself pretty hard to miss.
Whatever product he put in that hideous green mohawk of his seemed to have protected it from everything but the ashes. His clothes had been completely burned away, but whoever had tied him up had also had the decency to lay a blanket over him to protect his modesty.
"Stop screaming!" Caruso shouted. "You're fine!"
The screams gave way to panicked pants, and half formed questions and expletives. "I was on fire!" Buzz finally shouted.
"Well... you're fine now," Caruso amended.
They all fell silent as heavy footsteps started coming down the stairs.
"Is that finally all of you?" came a deep voice with a transatlantic accent they would not soon forget. "I didn't want to gag you, but your screams are disturbing my customers. If you can't stay quiet—"
"Why should we?" Fiona demanded, cutting him off. "We should keep screaming as loud as we can until someone calls the cops! You literally killed us last night!"
"And I can do it again," the man threatened. "So I strongly suggest you keep it down. Or do I have to gag you after all?"
No one responded. They just glared at him as viciously as they could.
"He brought us here. We trusted him. He would kill us?"
Caruso tried not to visibly react to the voice in his head. Did that mean the voice truly was connected to what had happened last night? It made sense, but there hadn't been any proof until now.
Their captor sighed. "You were supposed to be possessed, but you still seem to be quite in control of yourselves. We'll have to have a word about that."
Up the stairs, they heard a distant bell ring, and their captor sighed again.
"But I suppose that will have to wait," he said reluctantly. "Please excuse me, and keep your voices down... or else."
With that he retreated back up the stairs.
"That was the asshole who set me on fire," Buzz hissed out in a hoarse whisper.
"We know, we were there," Rodger told him. "When he was done with you, he moved onto the rest of us."
"Although, we didn't all get burned to death," Caruso said. "He used different methods for each of us."
"Why?" Buzz asked.
"He didn't exactly stop to explain."
"My guess is he was summoning a demon," Fiona said. "I mean, pentagram, black candles, human sacrifices? Classic demon summoning ritual, right? At least, that's how it looks in movies. Not that I'm much of a horror buff, to be honest."
"You're close," said a disembodied voice.
At first, Caruso thought it was another voice coming from his head, but then he saw everyone else reacting to it, too, and realized that couldn't be the case.
"It was a summoning ritual, but not for a demon," the voice continued. "He was summoning me."
Instantaneously, a person appeared just on the other side of Fiona.
It hurt his neck a little trying to get a good look, but Caruso guessed the stranger was seventeen or eighteen, about the same age as the rest of them, and not bad-looking. He was on the short side of average height, sharp jawline, square shoulders, with wispy white hair and eyes that glowed an unearthly green. He wore a black jumpsuit with a white belt, white gloves and boots, and a signet ring. A crown floated above his head, flickering with green flames.
"Hi, Danny Phantom, ghost king, at your service," he introduced. "I'm the one who brought you crazy kids back from the dead, and I'm the one whose gonna bust you out of here. Keep it hush-hush, though, yeah? If the boss man hears you, he'll come down and tell me to stop, and he has me bound to obey him. It's a whole thing."
He stepped over to Fiona, who was closest, and all he had to do was touch the ropes that tied her down to make them instantly fall to the floor, freeing her. He went to Max next, and did the same.
"If you're bound to obey him, why are you letting us go?" Max asked.
"I'm only bound to obey direct orders, and only ones I'm actually capable of carrying out," the ghost king explained. "Aside from that, I can do whatever I want. He never explicitly told me not to free you guys, so here I am."
He went to Buzz next. "Wow, you look a lot different with a face," he commented.
"That is an absolutely horrifying thing to tell someone, thanks," Buzz replied.
"Sorry." The king moved onto Rodger, and finally Caruso. Their eyes met for a moment, and Caruso could swear his cheeks looked greener from this angle. "You look different too," he said.
"Yeah, well, that happens when someone isn't covered in a thousand cuts and a corresponding swimming pool of blood," Caruso replied.
"Jesus Christ," Fiona said, barely managing not to raise her voice. "Is that what he did to you? How long did that take?"
"Hours," Caruso said with a shudder.
Their captor had counted out every cut, and he'd made sure that Caruso didn't actually die, or even pass out, until the very last one. There was no reason to tell them that, though. They were traumatized enough from their own deaths.
"But I'm fine now, see? Too bad about my clothes, though."
"How do we get out of here?" Rodger asked. "There's only one exit, and it leads to where that psycho is."
"Exits?" the ghost king scoffed. "Where we're going, we don't need, exits."
"Did you just reference Back to the Future?" Rodger asked.
"Yup!" He grabbed Rodger by the shoulders and picked him up like he weighed nothing at all, then flew straight through the wall and out of the basement. He then returned four more times to collect the rest of them.
"Your majesty?" Fiona asked once they were safely standing in a back alley, where the greatest potential danger was tetanus and muggers, and not a monster trying to summon the ghost king.
"You guys can call me Danny," he said. "But go on."
"If you brought us back to life," she continued, "then can you tell us how you did it? Or why we all have these voices in our heads?"
"Voices in your heads?" the king, Danny, repeated. Based on his expression, that was not a good thing. "Hmm... that... was not intentional. But we should go somewhere else, somewhere more than half a block away from old Victor and his creepy magic shop. Luckily, I know just the place."
"Uh, any chance we can pick up some clothes first?" asked Buzz, who was still wearing only the blanket their captor had left him, wrapped tightly around his lanky body.
It was only a few weeks away from winter, and his shoes were gone, too. He must have been freezing.
"Yeah," Caruso agreed. "And maybe a shower too?" He was basically decent, but he was pretty sure his clothes could completely fall apart on him any second, and he was still thoroughly covered in blood.
"I second the shower," said Max, who was similarly blood-soaked.
"Thirded," Fiona and Buzz piped up at the same time.
"Motion carried," Rodger tacked on.
"Motion passed," Danny agreed. "Seeing you all in the daylight... you obviously need a little TLC. You weren't taken from your homes, were you?"
"No, we got grabbed as we were leaving a house party, at least, I think we all did," Max said. "I didn't see Rodger there, though."
"I wasn't there, but I passed it when I was walking home from my DnD sesh, and got grabbed then," Rodger said.
"Great!" Danny said.
"That we got kidnapped by a witch?" Fiona asked.
"Well, no, but if he took you from someone else's house party, that means he doesn't know where you live, and that's good news," he said. "Let's see... can't exactly call you guys a cab when you look like that... hm... wait here a sec."
Danny vanished, and the five of them were left standing in the alley waiting for something to happen. A minute or so later, a while panel van stopped at the mouth of the alley, and the driver's side window opened.
"You kids need a lift?" Asked a bearded man in dark sunglasses.
"Uh, no thanks, sir, we're waiting for a friend," Fiona said.
The man pulled down his sunglasses revealing glowing green eyes.
"I'm just messing with you guys, it's me, Danny," he said, the man's deep gruff voice turning into Danny's own, much lighter one. "Hop in and I'll drive you guys home. You just need to give me directions."
"How are you doing this?" Rodger asked once they'd all piled into the back of the van.
"Overshadowing," Danny explained. "I just found a car that could carry all of you without drawing too much attention, no matter how much I wanted to take the one with flames painted on the side, and I took control of the driver. I'll top off the gas and take him back where I found him once we're done, and he won't remember a thing."
"That seems unethical," Buzz said.
"A) It's harmless, he'll be completely fine, and the only thing he'll lose is an hour, tops. And B) Would you rather walk home?"
"Fair enough," Buzz relented, adjusting his blanket over his lap.
Caruso got dropped off last, since his house was the farthest away. They'd all agreed to meet up at their school once they'd showered and changed, and Caruso lamented the fact that there was no way he'd have time to properly moisturize.
"I'll uh... see you later," Danny said as he dropped Caruso off behind his house so he could sneak in the back door and hopefully avoid his parents seeing him like this.
"Huh?" Caruso said.
The way Danny said it felt like he meant something more by it, but Caruso was too distracted by the thought of the shower in his tantalizingly near future to know or care what it was.
"Yeah, see ya," he said, and headed gratefully into his home.

A DPxDC prompt I Guess?
So, like, I'm half asleep and I have work in 40 minutes but like what if Ra's were to FINALLY die and Batsy and his family were there by coincidence to watch as Phantom took his soul. Maybe they were kidnapped or they were investigating if Ra's truly came back. Again.
Like, newly crowned King Phantom was going over all the paperwork Pariah Dark didn't bother doing. And while doing it he finds a list of people who escaped death though a Lazarus Pit and on top of that list is Ra's. So Danny looks into who Ra's is and what the fuck a Lazuras Pit is. He isn't happy with the info he finds. Claimed the pits, formed an assasination cult following yada yada.
Pits are pools of waters that had become contaminated with ectoplasm when a natural portal accsedently opened inside. Turns out that this random dude just so happened to find it and found it could heal so he claimed it for himself. Due to the greed and amount of death that was submerged into the waters it had become contaminated causing horrible side effects.
So Danny decides it was finally time to collect the dude's soul and destroy these pits and he's not escaping death this time and Pariah Dark should of done his damn job. After all, everyone who has used the Pit has a ghost core that is unable to develop properly because of the contamination of the Pits corrupted ectoplasm and that falls under his jurisdiction.
He even decides on hunting down everyone who used the pit, so Danny being himself looks into everyone who's used the pit and goddamn there's so many people, and many of them have used it more than once. So to spare himself a headache, he decides to just get everyone who's used it more than twice and fuck, it's still a long list but it'll have to do.
So now Danny is left cleaning up all the shit Pariah Dark didn't do, starting with destroying the pits and oh look, half his targets, including Ra's is nearby, might as well get em too while he's at it.
So now Danny is just floating around the league base collecting souls like fucking pokemon cards.
Batfam is baffled and disturbed by the trail of dead bodies. Those who are alive are terrified, curled into a ball, begging for forgiveness and thanking Death for sparing them.
The group decides to continue with caution. As they near the Pit they hear people talking, well, more like arguing really. They lean against the walls of the cave and listen in.
Ra's is arguing with Danny, trying to strike up a deal with him so he can continue to live. He's obviously desperate but the Ghost King won't budge and it's making him angrier.
Meanwhile Danny is just over it already, the dude can't offer him anything he'd actually want anyway, but is humering him cause he's pretty bored. He thought this would be more interesting considering they are all assassins.
Eventually Ra's gets fed up and tries attacking Danny but his attacks just go through him nd Danny just rolls his eyes.
"Listen dude, you've escaped death for way too long and I'm just doin my job taking your souls." He just swoops in, taking the soul, the body falling over like a puppet with it's strings cut.
That's when the Batfam decide to make themselves known, cause this unknown has just killed Ra's and apparently killed everyone else they saw too.
Danny is surprised to see Batman and his group here. He's doing his best to control the fanboying, but he doesn't really succeed as he's floating around them with a huge grin complementing them with how cool they are.
This is when the group takes in the unknowns appearance. White hair that flowed as if it were under water and sparked off at the ends like fire. Brilliant green eyes. A black and white hazmat suit. Pointed ears and teeth. He looked young, maybe 17 or 18. Pale, sickly pale skin.
Batman cuts in on the boys speaking, asking why he killed all those people and who he was. Danny sobers up and floats a few inches away, back straight.
"They have used the pits for too long, so I'm collecting what's not meant to be alive." He pretends to not notice as the family crowds slightly closer to Jason. He knows who he is. He did his research on everyone who was dunked into the pit, plus he can feel the Ecto contamination on him and his corrupted, unfinished sickly core.
Batman is mad, saying stuff like "you have no right to kill all those people, who made you the judge? They should be put through the justice system where they will receive their punishment fairly" Or something like that.
Danny gets upset cause Batman is basically walking all over the laws of his people by basically telling him 'your laws are stupid, do it like this' which is the equivalent of 'Gotham doesn't need Batman, we have cops' so he bares his teeth and lets out a small growl in warning.
"You have no right to meddle in business that doesn't pertain to you."
"You are killing people, how does that not pertain to me?"
"These people were already half dead to begin with. They had no right to escape death nor to use these pits that belong to my people, of which they have contaminated with their greed. I have simply come to gather them back up and bring them back to where they belong."
"Your people?"
"The pits are contaminated?"
"Your pits?"
"Where do they belong?"
"Who even are you?"
Danny allows for the invisibility on his accessories to fall. The crown of fire is the first to appear, the green flames form the shape of the crown, sparks flying about in a calm rhythm. His white cape, clasped around his neck by a button in the shape of an hourglass, flowed down his back. The inside was a pitch black that held slowly moveing stars and galaxies. The ring on his left hand flowed a brilliant green.
"I am the king of the Ghost Zone, or as you may know it, the infinite realms. I am known as Phantom. Those who have fallen into these corrupted pits have corrupted, sickly cores of which make them part ghost, of which are my people. I am simply taking them back to where they belong and getting rid of these pits. Something my predecessor should have done. This has nothing to do with the living. Now if you'll excuse me"
Danny holds up a cupped hand. The waters of the pit begin to splash and whirl before the ectoplasm seperates itself and comes flying up into his hand, condensing and shapeing into a sphere. He creates his own ecto ball in his free hand, the color a softer green than that of the toxic green of the pits.
Slowly he mixes the two together causing the toxic green to slowly turn the same color and murge with his ecto ball before eating it. did he have to eat it? No, absolutely not, but he just wanted to freak out the bats more, and the look of horror that fell upon most of their faces was totally worth it. Even Batman's lips parted slightly in shock.
With that, Phantom bids them a ferwell and disappears before their eyes. He can't wait to tell Sam and Tucker that he met and scared the Batman.
Meanwhile the bat family is freaking out because, "What the absolute fuck just happened?!"

An Early Start - Chapter 20 - Danny Phantom
Ao3: Here | Masterpost: Here
Ao3 Description: The accident that turns Danny half-ghost happens when he is four years old and leaves him trapped in the Ghost Zone. Clockwork finds him and takes him in to raise. But what happens when Clockwork sends Danny back to the human-world ten years later when a permanent portal appears?
Chapter 20:
One day Danny came home a bit later than normal after school, opting to hang out with Sam and Tucker for a few hours before the three of them had to split for the day. But the moment he stepped through the front door, his mother bombarded him. “Danny!” She exclaimed. “I have great news!” Danny stumbled as he took a step back, nearly falling down but being caught by the wall. He glanced over to his sister who was glowering next to their smiling father. “I got an invitation to a mother-son science symposium in Florida! Doesn’t that sound fun?”
Danny looked back to his sister. Even after all this time their parents still didn’t know sign language, and settled on relying on Jazz to translate. Jazz, on her part, has finally grown quite proficient at it. “Do I have to?” He asked, even though they both knew the answer.
“This will suck for both of us,” Jazz signed back. “I’m doomed to special family alone time with dad.”
“Now don’t just leave us in the dark,” Maddie said excitedly. “How excited is Danny?”
The siblings exchanged glances. “Sooo, excited.” Jazz spoke dryly.
“Well,” Maddie said. “Packs your bags. They’re sending a private jet, just for us!”
When Danny went up to his room, Jazz followed.
“What’s gotten into her?” Danny asked before turning to pull his suitcase out of his closet.
“From what I overheard she found an old picture of you and her, and randomly decided she missed the old times.” Jazz scoffed. “She wants to play mom again or something, I don’t know. That letter just happened to come at the right time.”
“Or wrong the wrong time.” Danny said, turning back around.
“Yeah,” Jazz agreed, huffing out a bitter laugh. “Good luck, little brother.”
"You too," Danny replied. "With dad I mean."
Before they left, Jack gave Maddie a belt he called the “Fenton Spector Deflector”. He guaranteed it would repel and weaken any ghost.
“Make sure to stay away from that thing.” Jazz whispered to Danny.
Danny snorted and nodded. Obviously.
-
Danny listened to his portable CD player and stared out the window of the taxi on the way to the airport. He’s never been on a plane, at least that he could remember, but he knew what they were and he wasn’t looking forward to being trapped in one for the next few hours. He flinched when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Danny pulled down his headphones.
“What are you listening to?” His mother asked.
Now, Danny was aware that his parents loved him and his sister. This, he didn’t doubt. But they loved their work more, and even after they thought they killed him, even after all these years, they never let up. They were his parents but they never took part in raising him... and they didn’t realize that. Danny popped open his CD player to show her the album.
“Ember McLain?” She said. “That’s that new alternative popstar I’ve heard on the radio recently, isn’t it?” Danny closed the CD player and nodded. He was about to put his headphones back on when she spoke again. “How’s school? Have you adjusted well?” Danny refrained from heaving out a heavy sigh and gave her a thumbs up, but it seemed she didn’t take the hint. “How about your friends? What were their names again?”
Danny reached into his pocket and pulled out his notebook. It was almost filled, he’d need to get a new one soon. Sam and Tucker. He wrote.
“Sam and Tucker, right!” His mother said. “How are they doing? Are they treating you well?” Danny nodded. Then his mother leaned in conspiratorially, and Danny leaned back. “What about any crushes?”
Crushes? Danny has never heard this term before. He asked, What is crushes?
His mother laughed and sat back. “If you don’t want to talk about your crushes then just say so. No need to pretend you don’t know what they are, silly!”
It was the very first time someone has laughed at Danny for asking what something is. It made him feel worse about himself. He pulled his headphones back on, lifted up his hood, and looked back out the window. They didn’t talk again until they were on the plane.
-
“Come on, Mr. Pouty Pants,” his mother said lightly. “This weekend is supposed to be about us. Those ‘Dalv’ people sent this private jet just for us! How perfect is that?”
Danny gripped harder onto his portable CD player. Right now, it was the only thing grounding him. He was with his mother, in an airplane which was way more enclosed than he imagined, on his way away from Amity Park. It was all he could do to not completely fall apart. Still, he kept his expression carefully neutral and swallowed his feelings. He didn’t make eye contact with her as he provided another thumbs up.
This time, his mother could sense his hostility and she sighed. “Forget it, Danny. Just look out the window at that warm, sunny Florida coastline.”
Above them, the intercom came on. “Folks, this is your captain speaking. If you look out the window to your left, you’ll see the cold, bleak Colorado Rockies.” Danny didn’t know much about the layout of the human world but he was pretty sure Florida and Colorado had two different names for a reason. The captain continued to speak. “And if you look out the window to your right side, you’ll see me! Bailing out of the plane before it careens out of control and crashes.”
Danny and his mother jumped to their feet and ran to the window just in time to see the pilot parachuting into the sky. They immediately ran to the cockpit. The plane began to spiral into a nosedive and his mother tried to take over the controls, but they would not budge. “How do we get out of this?” His mother pleaded under her breath.
This is not how Danny wanted his mother to find out he was half-ghost. In fact, never finding out at all would be preferable. But, if he didn’t do anything they would crash, so he had to risk it. Danny transformed and placed his hands on his mother’s shoulders, attempting to overshadow her to take control of the plane. But the moment he touched her a surge of pain, unlike anything he’s felt in many years, went and surged through his body. Danny stumbled back and fell to the floor with a forced transformation back to his human half. His mother heard him stumble and ran to his aid, placing a hand on his head. “Danny, you okay?” She asked. Reflexively Danny slapped her hand away, but she didn’t notice because her eyes were on something else. “Danny, parachutes. Let’s go!”
As they jumped out of the plane, Danny found the briefest amusement at the fact that he knew what a parachute was but hadn’t known what a dressing room was. But his discontent returned when they caught up with their pilot who revealed himself as a ghost. “Folks, at this time I’d like to inform you that you’ve been the victims of a cruel hoax.” Their pilot said. “Thank you for flying air evil plot!” With that, he cackled and flew back to the plane. Danny crossed his arms.
“Oh, come on, Danny. Don’t be so glum. Look at the view!” His mother chirped. For once, Danny did not enjoy being in the sky. Not like this. They landed in a dense forest and his mother pulled out a machete from her boot. Danny put his headphones back on, it was the one item not lost to the plane, and ignored whatever his mother had to say. At the moment he was done trying to be polite.
Danny silently followed behind his mother as she cleared away shrubbery. Part of him wanted to just fly home. The problem with that, besides the obvious, which was that he couldn’t leave his mother behind, despite his feelings about her he still needed to protect her, is that he had no idea how to get home. Danny didn’t know how long they walked before they broke free of the forest and found themselves in front of a large mountain chalet. He pulled down his headphones. Moments later, a horn honked.
Then, all at once, this entire ordeal suddenly made sense. Did Vlad really need to concoct such a convoluted plan? Danny pointedly did not make eye contact with him as he pulled up in a golf cart. “Why Maddie and Danny Fenton.” Vlad said.
“Vlad Masters?” Maddie gasped.
Vlad smiled. Way too big in Danny’s opinion. “Oh, what an amazing, unexpected, and totally unplanned surprise.” Then, to his mother’s obliviousness which could rival his father’s at the moment, Danny watched Vlad hold up two baskets with their names on it. “Personalized gift baskets?” His mother merely joyously laughed and took her basket, taking a seat next to Vlad on the golf cart. Danny scowled and silently took the last remaining seat, pulling his headphones back on.
For Danny, he really didn’t want to resent Vlad, but the man was making it really difficult, so Danny kept to himself as they made their way to the house. They entered the building and Danny stuffed his hands in his pockets as he took a seat, looking around at the taxidermy he promised himself he’d never tell Sam about. His eyes happened to glance over to a mirror just as Vlad was looking into it. ‘dalV’, the embroidery on the robe Vlad was wearing read. Danny felt like an idiot.
“So,” Vlad said, turning away from the mirror. “What brings you two to these parts?”
“You’ll never believe it,” Maddie said. “We were on our way to this symposium…” Danny stopped listening just then because seriously? She still thought that was real? He always knew she was the much more capable and intelligent of his two parents but now he was starting to have his doubts.
Danny tuned back in as Vlad said, “Maddie, I’m so glad you’re here. It gives me the chance to apologize for Jack’s behavior at our college reunion.” He put a hand on Maddie’s shoulder to pull her away from a book she'd picked up. “And,” Vlad continued. “To show you how sympathetic I am towards your son’s predicament.” Danny watched as Vlad turned to face him, like they weren’t already very well acquainted, and lifted his hands to sign, “I learned sign language, just for you.”
Danny could only deadpan at that sickly sweet smile on Vlad’s face. He was very aware of the fact that Vlad learned this not out of sympathy for him, but to gain brownie points with his mother. It only reiterated what Danny realized during their initial encounter. Vlad just wanted a family. However, the way he’s decided to go about it is completely backwards, and he won’t let go of his lifelong grudge against Jack Fenton. Danny raised his hands to sign back a very hard truth he knew Vlad would never suspect. “She doesn’t know sign,” he replied. “She never bothered to learn. She has Jazz translate everything for me.”
Vlad faltered. For the first time since they arrived, Vlad’s carefully constructed persona slipped momentarily from surprise. But, if he was one thing, it was graceful, and his carefully constructed persona slipped right back into place. “Well, nevertheless,” he spoke, turning back to Maddie. “If Jack hadn’t been so weak, perhaps that possession never would’ve happened.”
Maddie took it in stride as she walked over to a bookshelf. “Now, Vlad, Jack may be a bumbler but he means well.”
“I know, Maddie,” Vlad sighed wistfully. “And I’ve forgiven him for many things. Causing the accident that ruined my life, stealing you, the backwash incident…”
Danny watched this whole interaction from the chair he sat in, carefully analyzing Vlad’s behavior. He wondered if the sympathetic way in which Vlad spoke came naturally, or if he had to practice it.
Maddie paused and spun around. “Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back up.” Her voice faltered. “What was that?”
Vlad played perfectly oblivious. “Causing the accident that ruined my life?”
“N-no after that.” Maddie fumbled.
“The… backwash incident?”
Danny could tell that even his mother was finally taking notice of Vlad’s faux behavior.
“No!” She snapped. “In. The. Middle!”
Then Danny watched as even Vlad realized she was beginning to catch on. His decision with this knowledge was to just go all in. “Oh, the stealing you part? Ah, you always could see right through me.” He dropped to one knee and clasped his hands together. “Oh, Maddie, I’m just going to come right out with it.” He placed a longing hand on his chest. “Please, dump Jack and stay here. You and Danny both can. What do you say?”
Really, truly, Danny wondered if Vlad actually thought that was going to work, or if he was just desperate. The answer was probably both.
Maddie scowled and in an instant, she turned on her heel and stomped out of the room, throwing back a, “Come on, Danny. We’re leaving.”
As they made their way outside, Vlad called out, “Mark my words, Maddie. Nobody says no to Vlad Masters. You will rue the day that you spurned my affection!”
Danny turned to get one last glance at him. For a moment, they made eye contact, and Danny quickly looked away. If he could just talk to him. If he could just make Vlad see reason, like Ember or Johnny. But, Danny knew this one would be much more difficult. Like Danny, Vlad wasn’t just a ghost, he was alive, too. With that came much more complex emotions and drive, especially someone who’s held a grudge for twenty years. But, in a way, Danny could still see himself in Vlad; that crushing loneliness. The want to simply fit in, find a place where you belong. If he could just find a way to convey that without being met with hostility…
-
Danny sat at a campfire his mother built while she set up camp. In a way, he knew his mother wanted something similar. She wanted to be a mom. She just… also didn’t want to be a mom; she didn’t want the responsibilities that came with it, just the relationship. Danny couldn’t help but feel his own form of resentfulness too at this, though he did not wish her any harm like Vlad did his father. Danny simply was not interested in a relationship with her. She finished setting up her makeshift tent and brought out two sleeping bags, which were previously dehydrated into pill capsules, and sat down next to him.
“Fenton jerky?” She offered, pulling a strip out of her pocket. Danny shook his head. She sighed. “Danny, this weekend certainly isn’t turning out like I planned, but we’re spending it together, and that just means the world to me.” She reached down and touched his hand. Danny had forgotten about the Spector Deflector until the next moment when another indescribable shock of pain flared through his entire body. Danny quickly pulled his hand away and stood up. He was not in the mood to deal with this right now. So, he grabbed his sleeping bag and pulled it to the other side of the campsite. His mother took the hint and pulled her own sleeping bag into her makeshift tent. “Goodnight, Danny. I love you.” She tried. Danny ignored her.
Danny’s plan was to wait until she fell asleep before returning to Vlad’s to talk. It didn’t take long for his plan to come to him.
A large ghost bear with four arms appeared right before Danny and he knew this was the ghost of the bear that Vlad turned into a rug. Well, this works too. Danny let the bear take him.
As he lay slung over the bear's shoulder on the way back to the chalet, Danny thought about what he was going to say. He thought back to the way Vlad faltered when he told him Maddie never bothered to learn sign language. Well, if that truth made Vlad falter, then maybe it was in both of their best interests for Danny to tell the rest of the truth. The bear arrived back to the house and it brought Danny back to the room they were in before, throwing him back into the chair he occupied previously, but this time surrounded by the growling ghosts of the rest of the taxidermy animals.
“Does this mean we can finally talk?” Danny asked, slipping easily back into ghost speak now that his mother wasn’t around.
“Talk?” Vlad inquired from where he stood a few feet away. He was in his ghost form.
“Yeah,” Danny replied. “Talk. It doesn’t have to be this way.”
“And what way would that be, dear boy?” Vlad asked, holding his arms behind his back and tilting his head. He was trying to feign curiosity but Danny could tell he was genuinely curious despite himself. He knew Vlad had a different perception of how this night was supposed to go.
“We can still be friends.” Danny tried, standing up and turning into Phantom, to match Vlad’s own ghostly form. “This… resentment that you feel. It doesn’t have to rule your life.”
“This resentment,” Vlad snapped. “Is completely founded! Your father ruined my life, and yours too! The real question is, why don’t you feel it too?!”
“I do.” Danny answered evenly. “I don’t know exactly what happened to you twenty years ago but for me, it wasn’t just my dad.”
“What?”
“For me, my mom is just as much to blame. I was four years old but I remember that day like it was yesterday. I think… even though it was the day I died, it was also the day I began to live.”
Vlad’s scowl slipped off his face and Danny wondered if he was aware of it. Cautiously, Vlad asked, “What are you saying, Daniel?”
Danny glided across the room, past the ghost animals, past Vlad, and sat on the couch near the fireplace. “I’m saying,” Danny said. “Let’s talk.”
Vlad tensed up. For a moment Danny thought that he’d lost him again, but then Vlad glided over to the couch too, and sat on the opposite end. “Fine.” He said. “Let us talk.”
So, Danny pulled his knees up, glared into the fire and said, “Tell me what happened, what really happened, twenty years ago.”
“What do I get in return?” Vlad asked skeptically.
“I’ll tell you exactly what happened to me.” Danny replied.
Danny didn’t look at Vlad as the man contemplated this, but he eventually sighed and gave in. “Very well. It happened in college. The three of us were friends…” Danny listened to Vlad’s story, at some point pulling his gaze away from the fireplace to look at the man. Vlad told him how the accident happened, how Jack, both too overzealous and also not paying attention, caused his accident, and the subsequent years in the hospital. Danny learned that Vlad’s transformation wasn’t instantaneous like his was, how it came to him little by little as he slowly died. He told Danny about when he finally left the hospital, how he went to search for Maddie, only for salt to be poured in the wound when he learned that Jack had taken her too. Danny was silent when Vlad finished his tale, taking it in and mulling it over in his mind. When he did speak up, he spoke slowly, carefully.
“Do you really love her?” Danny asked. “Or do you love the idea of her?... Or do you just hate that my father took that from you too?”
Vlad didn’t reply. Instead, he looked like he tried to be angry with that accusation but couldn’t quite muster it up. “It’s your turn.” He said instead. “The deal was I told you my tale, exactly how it happened, and you do the same.”
Danny stared at the man, studied him. Vlad’s eyes were hard to read as Plasmius but his expression wasn’t, and he looked vulnerable. “I’ll tell you, if you want. But… well, you won’t like it. It’ll shatter the perception you’ve had for twenty years.”
“Try me.” Vlad said. Danny knew he was only pretending to be ready.
But, he kept his word and regaled his own tale. “I was four, and I was hungry…” Danny did not leave out a single detail. He talked about his sister’s late morning, how she hadn’t had time to make him lunch, and how she always made him lunch because his parents, both of them, always forgot about him. He spoke of his trip to the lab, how his parents did not notice him even as he spoke up. Then he talked about his final mistake of climbing onto that stool, and the button being pressed.
“But Jack was the one who pressed the button, right?” Vlad asked.
Danny shook his head. “They both did, at the same time.” Danny explained. “They both held it and counted down.” Danny could still remember the feeling of his veins on fire. “It was the worst pain I’ve ever felt,” he whispered, and looked up at Vlad. “A pain I’m sure you remember, too.” Vlad didn’t say anything so Danny continued. “The portal didn’t work for long, but I was sent to the Ghost Zone, where I was trapped for ten years.”
“And that’s how you became Clockwork’s Ward.” Vlad finished for him.
Danny nodded. “He found me shortly after I arrived and took me in. He raised me. I came back ten years later because he asked me to, when my parents completed their portal.”
Vlad was silent for a long time. Danny did not interrupt his thoughts, he knew it was a lot to take in. It felt like hours passed before Vlad spoke again, or rather whispered, “But Maddie would never…” He spoke up. “Surely after such a devastating incident she has changed after all these years. This must be some kind of trick.” He was getting defensive again. Danny expected this, and remained calm.
“No,” Danny said. “She hasn’t. At first it seemed like it. My parents took me to all my appointments, protected me from reporters, and made sure I was okay. I really thought things would be different this time. But, when everything died down, and I settled in, they went right back to their lab. I can go days without seeing either of them. They promised they would learn sign language for me but they haven’t.”
“But that’s preposterous!” Vlad exclaimed. “Maddie has always been such a kindhearted soul!”
“I don’t doubt my parents love me, and my sister, but they just love their work more, and nothing will change that.”
That statement seemed to be the final nail in the coffin. Danny watched the devastation grow on Vlad’s face as his entire worldview shattered. Danny felt guilt gnaw in his own chest but he pushed it down because right now wasn’t the time. “I just can’t believe…” Then abruptly he turned to Danny. “I cannot let you leave.” Vlad said quickly.
Taken aback, Danny replied. “I have to.”
“But why?!” Vlad exclaimed. “It is too dangerous for you in that house! We are two of a kind. We must stick together!”
Danny's shoulders relaxed in understanding and he replied gently, “I’m sorry, but I have to make sure no one in Amity Park gets hurt, both humans and ghosts alike. I can’t do that if I’m not there.”
“Daniel,” Vlad said. “I still cannot bring myself to find harm for your mother. So, even when I kill your father, you will still be in danger.”
Danny stilled, and gaped. Even… wait... even after all of that? Killing Jack Fenton was still his motivation? Overwhelming loneliness like Danny hasn’t felt in a long time welled up inside of him, spilling over with the added addition of despair. “Vlad…”
“Stay here with me, my boy. We will show everyone who has ever crossed us!”
Danny wiped away a tear before it fell as devastation settled in his chest. “I won’t join you.” He whispered.
Vlad froze. “What?”
Danny wrapped his arms around himself and looked down. “Even… after all this. Revenge and power is still your motivation? I’m… sorry Vlad. I wish we could be friends but… I don’t want to hurt anybody. I don’t want to rule.”
“You can’t possibly-“
A resounding knock cut him off. Moments later they heard the front door open and Maddie call out, “Vlad? I need your help! I can’t find Danny!”
The two halfas made eye contact. Then, just as Danny transformed back into his human half, Vlad turned intangible. “Take the copter home. Until next time, little badger.” With that, Vlad disappeared. The last thing Danny saw before he did was the devastation on the man's face, the same kind Danny felt in his chest.
Nothing felt resolved, and nothing felt okay.
