OK!! FIRST: Addressing the things i was banned for.

i was banned for hms sex jokes and erp yea true there is literally proof of the sex jokes but they're nothing but jokes even ppl who are told of the incident laugh at the screenshots because its so obvious that i WAS KIDDING. and being banned for erp? with no proof? really? yeah whatever literally none of what i did wrong was in the rules. especially for out of server stuff YEAH. IT WAS OUTSIDE THE FUCKING SERVER… IT WAS ALL IN A PRIVATE GROUP CHAT AND SOMETIMES (RARELY) DMS. everyone in the group chat was completely and 100% fine with EVERYTHING happening! everyone had said so. (let me clarify: there was no out of server rules when we were banned, they added them so they can fucking control their server members over shit like this like bffr.) stuff in the rp wasnt supposed to make anyone uncomfortable or be serious in anyway when it came to sexual stuff, the rp itself actually existed outside of the groupchat with extensive lore but it wasn't really sexual at all. the rp was kept private SO PEOPLE WOULDNT BE UNCOMFORTABLE.. even so, it being private wasnt enough apparently because some little rats had to jump into a place they didnt belong and build a whole ass story off the shit I did wrong?? when i literally did NOTHING against the rules. sure you can be like "oohh you were sexualizing chonny jash" sure! hms were there but we never mentioned chonny himself. we treated all three of them like our own ocs and completely unaffiliated with him, we thought it was fucking weird to sexualize chonny in anyway. (soul wasnt sexualized and anyone else in the rp were just OCs).

a/n: these are my headcanons on what the creeps [jane, jeff, natalie, toby, ben] are like during a blunt rotation with eachother. if you havent already, i really recommend reading my headcanons on what the creeps are like high on their own time here just to understand this post a bit better. enjoy c:

✮ in this rotation we have: ben, jeff, toby, jane, and natalie aka clockwork

✮ lets set the scene: usually everyone’s go to smoke sesh spot is ben’s room because it’s just the vibiest and he’s always got the good stuff on him. his room will have his led light’s on and they WILL be on green. it’s a must to be on green. all his other lights like his lava lamp will also be on. and he’ll always have some quiet lofi on in the back to give the room a relaxing feel. [ben can be a jerk sometimes but one thing he will do is make sure everyone is comfortable enough to start smoking. we don’t want any panic attacks]

✮ unfortunately for nina, she is never invited to the sesh anymore because she tends to be highly annoying

✮ mainly the conversations between everyone starts off easy going, usually just talking about what slender did to piss them off this time or whatever crazy/strange thing they witnessed today.

✮ ben is definitely the one that’s got everyone laughing, like i said in another post he’s the absolute funniest when he’s high off his ass. it gets even better when toby starts joking along with him, i mean these guys are masters at bouncing jokes off each other.

✮ jeff will talk about his most recent murders while insensitively making jokes about them while jane rolls her eyes

✮ both jane and natalie at some point will playfully start picking on jeff to which he will playfully pick on them back

✮ this usually starts by jeff saying something stupid or saying something that just didn’t really make sense and natalie and jane will point it out every single time and make fun of him for it

✮ another thing is that when jeff tells a story he uses sound effects and it’s the funniest thing to natalie and jane, they’ll definitely make fun of the sounds and mock him

✮ examplé, jeff was once describing how he timed himself to see how fast he can kill someone [he’s lame like that, i wasn’t kidding when i said he was insensitive to his victims/murders] at one point he described the sound of his knife as “chchchch” to which natalie and jane simultaneously mocked the sound and laughed for a good 10 minutes about it

✮ both jeff and natalie will argue over his hypothetical questions about who is right or why their idea would never work

✮ both jeff and natalie really enjoy discussing on what they would do if a zombie apocalypse were to actually happen

✮ toby and ben eventually chime in to their conversation but they never take the conversation seriously

✮ so we have jeff and natalie arguing like the situation is genuinely happening at that very moment while ben and toby are cracking jokes about what they would do and making fun of jeff and natalie while pointing out the holes in their plans while jane just laughs along and listens

✮ eventually at some point ben and toby will decide they wanna go out and do something which usually involves a gas station run and just running around the nearby town acting like children

✮ jeff, jane, and natalie tag along but they’re falling behind caught up in talking about some random drama that natalie definitely brought up on accident [that girl cant keep a secret]

✮ sometimes if they smoked alot, ben and toby will come up with the dumbest ideas

✮ once, they both went out during the winter in like 40 degree weather and jumped off a bridge literally just for fun

✮ and they’ve done way more dumber things than that

✮ like this one time they both convinced the whole group to sneak into a house party where the cops ended up getting called and toby being the funny guy he thinks he is shouted out something along the lines “aww who invited these guys”. obviously that got the attention of the officers who noticed they were all high. basically that night consisted of a party and running away from cops chasing them.

✮ jane and natalie are basically a duo in the group

✮ eventually they’ll start talking to just each other and it’s usually about more drama natalie can’t keep to herself or they’re talking shit about nina or making fun of jeff

✮ they will definitely start sharing tmi details about their life with each other [as besties do]

✮ after a few hours most of them will get tired

✮ usually toby and natalie get tired around the same time and jane will end up going to her room since nat’s not there anymore

✮ so it’s just jeff and ben left

✮ thats when it starts to get deep

✮ i headcanon jeff and ben to be close friends so once it’s just them left thats when they feel comfortable enough to start getting into heavier topics

✮ i mean this is the one and only time jeff will ever show emotions and disclose information about him actually… like… caring?… about people. which is the strangest thing to hear coming from jeff considering how he puts on a cold and distant persona around people

✮ like he has opened up to ben about how grateful he feels to have him in his life and even toby and natalie too. he has opened up about how he really does enjoy being able to talk about his dumb theories with natalie and to actually know that she is truly listening knowing that she’s also into that stuff

✮ after knowing jeff for as long as he has it’s not strange hearing this from him but in the past he was SHOCKED i tell you. shocked. because it was just so unlike him

✮ but even after years of being jeff’s best friend it still shocked him to hear jeff admit to how he felt bad for what he did to jane even though she really does get on his nerves.

✮ but yea these guys will spill their guts when it’s just them

he doesnt really like the fighting since hes also likely the one who has to patch you up afterwards. like even if you win the fight youre still going to be hurt in some way, this applies to all the other characters too. ej is just the only one who has the knowledge when it comes to tending wounds...

with ej, in my au, he doesnt really. like conflict, especially since his own body is changing into something that isnt human; he already has enough on his plate already, doesnt need to go bury an extra body because he let his temper get the better of him

and every now and then, that mindset of avoiding conflict bleeds to how he views you and your attitude

hes happy that you can defend yourself, like hoodie he admires it; but at the same time he gets so scared that youre going to pick a fight with the wrong person or get hit in the wrong spot, and..

he does not pity those who are dumb enough to rile you up, though..

overall he worries for you and already has enough on his plate with himself ... but dont think that he sees tending to you as a burden! hell do it regardless of what caused your injury

no but im thinking once again about charlies world state for the suckening. because i havent made my personal decisions yet on how much Canon Cities actually matter. because charlie did something really interesting to me personally with using a canon city and then just ignoring absolutely everything established about said city. and that puts me in a very fun play position of jigsawing what i think from WoD canon could still be dubious canon to charlie and what just doesn’t matter at all. and some of that is going to also be influenced by my personal canon state of LA because my LA deviates from official canon because that’s just what happens in world states that are the real world and then white wolf or modiphius or renegade put out something official that just blows up your shit. 

so heres a deranged history lesson on LA canon and where i might pen charlie as diverging from that canon

all cities are contentious on whos sect they belong too but LA is such a special case because it’s constantly flipping like on a literal 10 year cycle since the 90s and its kinda funny. v1 (1991) doesn’t talk about LA to my recollection there isnt an official stance on who controls it at this point. but in v2 (1994) we get our sourcebook in LA that talks about how from like ~1800-1944 LA was a cam city but then from 1944-1994 it has joined the anarch free state and we get a chronicle to explore a crumbling anarch city thats trying to not blow itself up while also trying to establish some sort of barebones government so it doesn’t just turn into a sabbat territory. at this point its kinda up to you what happened!

we then jump to v3 and 2004 with the videogame vampire the masquerade bloodlines! LA is back to being under the camarillas thumb this happened at some point between 1994 and 2003 we are never really told when prince lacroix came in and stomped on everyones shit. just that he did and everyones really mad about it. we then learn about 4 of the anarch barons isaac abrams of hollywood, nines rodriguez of downtown, and the voerman twins of santa monica. there are also 3 named primogen of the city gary golden of the nosferatu, max strauss of the tremere, and alistair grout of the malkavian. there is a shown ventrue and toreador primo but we don’t actually get to learn anything about them theyre ultimately not important. but we learn a lot of guys names! 11 days of insanity happen and the camarilla fall once again and LA turns back to being an anarch free state on october 31st/november 1st of 2004!

it is now v20 january of 2018 LA is once again in a contentious spot for the anarchs. san diego players are invading and looking to instate themselves as prince. there’s a set of hooks and various endings for chronicles mostly surrounding the idea of LA bending to a new prince (vannevar or tara) or being completely taken over by the kuei-jin(1) who have been in the city since 2004. there is an anarch rubble ending proposed but it is the least likely outcome. these plot hooks are part of the source book becketts jyhad diary to help bridge the gap from v20 to v5 which came out in august of 2018.

v5! september of 2018! the source book came out in august and the actual condition of LA is not mentioned. there is the officially produced actual play LA by Night and all of its events are canon to the official world state. LA is in limbo. vannevar thomas won the v20 san diego conflict and has claimed himself as prince of LA. and everyone really hated that and tried really hard to ignore him but his foothold grew. all of the barons and primogen from 2004 are still barons and primogen of their respective territories. and we learn some new ones! but by 2021 vannevar is removed as prince, denounced by the camarilla at large, and presumed to have met his final death. no one whos prince in LA ever has it good. or lasts long. 

now that the canon history lesson is out of the way. i dont know if charlie actually knows any of that lore LMAO. i dont think any of it actually played a part in how he wrote the LA camarilla 

BUT there are a few ways to split hairs on official LA canon still being somewhat real in his world regardless.

first can be that san diego vs LA instead ended with The Queen getting involved and instating herself as prince of LA. rather than vannevar. and the previous barons and primos meeting their ends at some point in this conflict. this ones just because i truly do not see charlie as an actual big long term vtm dweeb. who’d make another teams actual play canon to his actual play even if it is actual official world canon. i don’t think he’d want someone elses actual play world to effect his. 

another is The Queen watching different princes claim LA and then in a few short years routinely getting final death’ed by the anarchs of the city, where she just in 2021 goes “okay. lacroix sucked. vannevar sucked. my city now. this won’t happen to me” and then she gets blown up by the grimslayers in 2023. its a cycle that no prince can ever have a true hold on LA. LA is inherently cursed to consume its princes. it doesn’t explain the primos changing if vannevar is canon but it could easily be twisted that during the riots against vannevar during the second inquisition raiding the city that the primos got caught in the crossfire. because i don’t know how else to make sense of them changing between reigns. because for me at least its hard to imagine the primos getting voted out with the loyalty they command. theyd have to die to change.

i think its also very likely that charlies world state could have The Queen taking charge between 1994 and 2005. this is the most neutral one as it ignores anything stated in v3 to v5 about LA. theres no messy wonderings on barons and primos that exist through those versions, because its just the v2 lore of anarchs are struggling, what nameless person will claim power next? and i think The Queen slots in very nicely here.

to have a definitive answer on what i ultimately believe is dubiously true id have to rewatch the first 5 episodes just to see if during shilo time theres ever a concrete mention of how long The Queen has explicitly ruled over LA because that Does effect all the possible outcomes of dubious canon. and charlie loves to play it fast and loose when it comes to timelines.

i think the most interesting and compelling for me personally would be taking over after vannevar even though i personally don’t enjoy or have vannevars reign being canon in my own world state. but her taking over after vannevar is so fascinating to have the hubris of princes thinking time and time again they wont fall to the curse of LA princes being short lived and then it keeps happening. especially with edward vying for prince and the boys immediately trying to take him down after the queens death. and then killing A Version of him on tv. the themes. the motifs if this timeline is real are just so juicy to me as someone who interacts with official canon. that i think id like to think its this one. 

but most likely she took over by 2004. thats the cleanest diverging point regardless of if you do or dont know the history of LA and the only one that i think can be semi supported within suck canon at this time. with the single line mention that The Queen put emizel into his dads care pretty immediately after birth. and the twins are 18 or 19 so thats gonna be 2004 or 2005. because i dont think she’d put emizel in a city that she doesnt have any control over yet, and theres no mention of emizel moving cities as a kid (to my memory). despite the fun implications of the other two main broad options with her control being newer. 

ultimately none of it is true canon at the time he wrote and recorded suckening last year. i do not think charlie in his marathon week of researching v20 and v5 rules and helping the boys workshop characters. that he looked into canon cities and really paid attention to what happened there and would in theory be happening in 2023 when this was recorded. i think he just picked LA as a city at random and went “imma make some weird guys that fit the archetypes of their clans, yeah okay heres the government” and that was it. maybe with the time since then and season 2 he might do some retroactive stuff with LA official canon but who knows! it seems s2 might be more global focused so digging into LA lore probably won’t happen.

this was just an excuse to think about the various possible histories of LA in charlies world state if somehow official canon is at play. it 99% likely isnt but, i think its fun to try and slot his takes on the world into the preexisting World of Darkness. instead of just only being, idk i might start calling it World of Charlie, i love WoC and trying to make it make sense with my like decade long beliefs on LA because he just HAD to choose a city that has an established official canon. instead of doing like houston, or san francisco, or portland or any other city. literally theres like 4 cities in the entire world that are officially extensively fleshed out and thats LA, New York, Chicago, and London. the rest of the world will Maybe have 3 official line mentions like Prague and Berlin. but no. he picked one of the 4 cities id go crazy about and it wasnt even on purpose. and m so glad he did this to me because its making me think too much. but also. how could he do this to me? its making me think too much.

This whole civil war on reading vs not reading comics is baffling to me. Like honestly this whole arguement is stupid.

Full disclosure before people come after me: I am a comic reader! I love reading comics (although I havent been able to read nearly as many as I would like)

Anyway yeah my whole 2 cents on this.

On one hand, I get why avid comic readers are annoyed. You're favorite character being what you perceive as wildly misinterpreted and being unable to find the content you want is annoying. But also it's so easy to just... click off? Like no one is forcing you to read it, just go find a different work instead of complaing to the author or whatever.

Also, comic characters have been written and rewritten by so many people and have had so many changes to their storylines and personality that a lot of stuff being argued as "not canon" very likely could have been at some point! And that's not even talking about other media like shows and movies.

The first example that comes to mind is Superboy (Conner "Kon" Kent). Comic Kon and Young Justice Cartoon Kon are drastically different in both personality and appearance. Comic Kon is the most bisexual coded person I've ever seen and Cartoon Kon is a grumpy asshole who looks like he stepped straight out of bootcamp. But guess what? Regardless of which one you like most both are canon in DC!

As far as I'm concerned, comic timelines and characters are a mess with or without other media types and we should be allowed to pick and choose whatever traits we want from it. Do I want Kon to have bisexual hair? Yes! Am I ignoring that Batman beats his kids in some runs? Also yes!

And because I saw a few complaints like these once before I'm going to address them.

"Character A can't be into this. It only happened like 1 time in the comics!"

Yeah but it happened. If people want to take that little hint of a trait and expand on it then power to them!

"Character A never actually had this role or did this so stop writing them like that!"

It's called a headcanon or an AU. This may be surprising to you, but both of these are common in fandom spaces. If that headcanon or AU is popular it's because people obviously like it. That person may not be you, and that's fine too! Just let them have their fun and leave to read something else.

And I'm not claiming to be innocent in all this btw! Lord knows I get loud and angry about many MCU fans' interpretation of Jake Lockley from Moon Knight. That being said, the reason I'm loud and angry isn't just "oh they made him less friendly and changed some personality traits". Its the fact that they interpret him as an "evil" alter which perpetuates hateful stereotypes about a very real and very stigmatized disorder with very little decent representation. The whole "Jake is an evil bloodthirsty alter" spreads those fearmongering ideas and has the potential to harm actual systems in the long run whether it's intended to or not. Disclaimer: I am not a system, but I do try my best to listen to what they have to say. By all means listen to their opinions on the situation over mine.

Even so, I don't go and yell directly at those creators. I click off. I don't have to read or look at their stuff if I don't want to.

Another complaint from comic readers I see a lot is "oh but it's so easy for them to just pick up a comic and read it! They are just being lazy/stubborn/etc." And honestly...

It's really not!

It took me YEARS to start reading comics because it was so overwhelming and I had no one to help me. Keeping track of all the comic runs is hard enough let alone actually finding and reading them. Comics are simply not well organized and it's hard to find a part to jump into when so many of them rely on prior knowledge.

"Well ask somebody who works at a comic bookstore!"

I did. He had no answers for me and looked like he would rather be talking to literally anyone else instead of a clueless 15 year old girl. Stepping into spaces like that can be intimidating in itself for a variety of reasons, let alone trying to ask for help. Online it's not always much better. So many people won't give an honest recommendation and others won't be specific enough. Many comic runs have similar titles, and honestly it's best if you just know the name of the writer.

Trying to break into comics is just genuinely difficult for a lot of people depending on their situations whether it be enviornmental, financial, or mental.

Also you can't just force someone to read the comics! If they don't want to and just want to watch the shows or absorb fanon content then that's their preference! You don't have to interact with it! Am I saying that no one should read comics? No! But I am saying that not everyone has the same accessibility and the way some comic readers treat these people isn't doing favors. Attacking them over stuff and getting annoyed at them isn't going to encourage them to pick up a comic and read it but rather push them away from something really fun.

Okay now that's out of the way, time for me to turn my sights on the "not reading" camp.

You can't just attack people for suggesting canonical content under your prompts. Unless they are being a dick about it. Then you can go ham. But if someone is coming in like "hey btw A is a thing that happens canonically and it might be fun to do!" then there is no reason for you to act like they just ate your baby!

It is also not completely unreasonable for someone to simply suggest that you try out a comic or two (provided that they are being polite and are actually willing to help you with clear reccomendations). There is no reason for you to get pissy at them, just as it is not a requirement for you to take up their advice. If you don't want to read it or can't currently that's fine, but just know that you have the potential to be introduced to something you really enjoy and that consuming canon content will more than likely help you with your writing!

anyway because big daddy death is totally not chill with the idea of immortal cats wandering around he tells dtk to go and Git Him because its good training for when he succeeds him or whatever. anyway dtk goes and tries to do that and even though every time they fight he absolutely claps blackstar, b*star always gets away and its getting kinda really frustrating, so he just watches him trying to find a moment where his guard is down enough for a quick stab n go. doesnt really happen instead he just gets feelings which is really gay and lame of him everyone point and laugh. anyway eventually he goes from ‘i must kill this guy because dad said so’ to ‘i wanna be his friend and maybe also kiss him idk’ hes not very good at emotions. its just as well the thompsons are there. anyway eventually theyre on speaking terms and after much preamble they have a lil heart to heart and its very sweet.

i imagine if ass*star was a cat he’d be a maine coon not because they’re large or particularly menacing, but because theyre one of the few breeds with enough fur to maintain that absolutely batshit hairstyle that hes got going

I, surprisingly to myself, actually finished "I am in Eskew" and enjoyed it quite a bit (which, I guess, could have been deduced by how much I spammed in the tag) even more surprisingly, considering I'm absolutely not a horror person - I substitute horror movies with their wikipedia retellings. Unironically.

Anyway, firstly, thank you! I definitely would have never discovered it without your recommendations!

Secondly, maybe you have something else like that stashed up your sleeve? I definitely need some time to recuperate, but I would like to explore more cool podcasts. (The only two limitations: short-ish - not much longer than this one, the view of a hundred+ episodes scares me; not gorier than this one/no actual jump scares - again, I'm a scardicat.) I remember you talking about "Mabel Podcast" and at the first glance it seems neat, but I'd like to hear your comments on it first.

i do want to mention that the creator of eskew also has another podcast called The Silt Verses, personally i havent listened to it for weird brain reasons so not sure how well it fits your criteria but ive heard its also very good

mabel podcast is another favorite! the creators of mabel and the creator of i am in eskew were both inspired by shirley jackson's the haunting of hill house to an extent iirc, so even though the stories are very different some elements of them have a similar 'feel' to them imo. i will say that mabel is very different stylistically though (especially the earlier episodes) which in my experience people seem to either love or hate. whereas in eskew you get a pretty continuous narration from david or riyo, in mabel youre mostly listening in on a series of somewhat disjointed voicemail messages. id definitely recommend at least giving the first few episodes a go, dont get discouraged if you dont feel like you dont understand whats happening right away. all you really need to know about the story going in is that youre following Anna, whos a live-in carer for an old woman named Sally. Anna is trying to contact Sallys next of kin (the titular Mabel), but shes strangely out of reach.

ok i know you said youre not a huge horror person but if you ever are feeling a little more daring id suggest trying out The White Vault. theres a small amount of gore (descriptions of finding hearts and teeth) and some uh. wet ripping sounds in it but its really not that bad all things considered, just know that it is straight horror though. its a found footage podcast that follows a group of people whove been hired to check out a remote outpost in northern norway thats gone dead, but a storm leaves them stranded there, and as time goes on it becomes clear that they arent exactly alone. this ones a little longer i think, but tbh ive only listened to the first two seasons, it felt like a natural place for the story to end to me

and then on the complete opposite side of the spooky podcast spectrum, if you want something thats a ghost story but really not horror at all imo, i just finished listening to Midnight Radio a few weeks back. this ones *really* short, like 10 episodes that are ~20 minutes each short, so its definitely lower commitment. in this one youre listening in on a radio show hosted by Sibyl, who died decades earlier but can still be heard waxing poetic about her hometown in the dead of night.

ok LAST ONE havent finished it so wasnt sure if i should rec it but a lot of people on my dash hype up Archive 81 so i thought id mention it at least. guy is hired to listen through a bunch of creepy tapes in some archive out in the middle of no where. classic horror podcast stuff. similar to eskew in that it pivots from mostly being mostly anthology into an overarching plot as you go on

me when i needed to think about this and literally just ended up taking ages to answer it because i forgot about it... so so sorry about that hellooo emily hiii :) sooo. i havent been properly scared in a long time and am the type of person who gets extremely emotionally overwhelmed and uncomfortable during certain movies like hereditary for instance which is something people make fun of lol but that movie did scare me a lot when i first watched it in 2018 Mainly because of the themes and how into the movie i got and the scene where she is hiding on the ceiling / theres a jump scare was really unexpected to me because i was talking to my mom and not as invested and had already been tense/uncomfortable the whole movie so that one scared me real bad And similarly enough possum 2018 because of the overall uncomfortable/tense feeling and then theres a jump scare scene in there too towards the end that really got me too it was awful... very scary uncomfortable situations and themes in that movie as well :/ the fly got me when i was very little (i watched it when i was 4) and its still hard for me to watch scenes even today from it without being scared and grossed out its soooo good at what it does... definitely gotta rewatch soon now that im obsessed with and comfortable with that kind of stuff !! also uhhh ringu (1998) was creepy to me in a nice way i love that movie and think its scares work to this day at least for me they did i remember being a little creeped out for the first time in awhile that night and i loved the overall creepy atmosphere <3 same for lake mungo (2008), a tale of two sisters (2003), and shutter (2004)... i know you said scariest but im always just a little creeped out or outright just very shocked by something happening in a movie.. i will say hereditary stuck with me for a long time and i know its looked down on and not scary to everyone but it is the one here that scared me personally the most

also like im sorry. but the first time i heard the term "landback" and didnt know exactly what it entailed, i googled it, and the first thing i found said that its a term that no one really agrees how it should be enacted, or what it encompasses, or what it could entail precisely.

so yes. if you want to have an effective discussion about land back, you have to specifically talk about the version of it that you have in mind when you're advocating for it. because no one can agree on exactly what it looks like. and its different for every tribe and every area and even then there's still discussion within the tribe. which is fine! but it means there's no clear conversation to be had if youre not specific and you dont explain.

and im for land back!!! in all situations!! all of those different variables, im for all of them!!! but you literally cant be mad when someone says "ive never heard of that before, what would it mean for my daily life". would the laws change? the taxes? we dont trust cops around here, but what would it mean for fire fighter response? what about local government? who would i call for zoning issues, or is that not relevant to me once i've taken part in land back?

these arent malicious questions. these are normal questions to ask about how a massive shift would work. i dont care if youve gone over it with people in the community, people OUTSIDE the community havent heard the discussions. go over it with them so they understand what would happen. god, the same shit happens with complete prison abolition, where people get so annoyed when you ask "what would society look like without prisons and how would we deal with crime and genuine harm done to others?"

they jump to saying "it isnt dealt with now! there's only 1% of rapists in prison, there's only [x]% of abusers, the recidivism rates, the way prison is a den of abuse for the people in it" and like yes i agree with those points. but also no matter what you say, people will hear 1% and go "but 1% is a better chance of being saved if im on the receiving end of extreme violence, than 0% in a system that does nothing". they!!! are always going to go with the devil they know!!! if the alternative is completely in the dark!!!!

"what is the alternative to prisons" is always, in my experience seeing these conversations leak out into public internet discourse, to say "well, there's just so many options, and we're still discussing in the community--" stop. stop. that will never ever ever work. that will never convince anyone.

1) you never stop doing [x social thing] without any solid clearly defined agreed upon plan for the alternative. you just dont. 2) that doesnt encourage anyone to look for more information, it makes it sound like there is no solid alternatives period, 3) just!! say!!! what you think!!!! just say "well there arent any solid plans yet, but i personally like [x method] and [y method]", because that gives people a foothold. that gives them the context to start understanding the argument, the alternative that is being presented, it gives them a broad image of what to picture for a prisonless society and how it might function. that is an archetype WE DONT CURRENTLY HAVE, so you have to paint them a picture so they can start to imagine. so that they have some place to start looking. some concept they can start to research on and expand from there.

most people dont know what a prison-less society or land back looks like. im sorry its annoying to explain it a lot. but they dont know. if you want to do outreach, paint a picture. tell them what it means. get into logistics.

the moment you step outside your community to talk to people outside it, you are doing outreach. so look into how to do it well, how to get people on your side, and how to introduce concepts to people who have never heard of it before.

Okay so for those curious about the einsla Half Life AU.. If you're expecting normalcy I'm sorry but do you know who you're following.

So I havent thought of the EXACT specifics yet, however there's this.

Einstein picks up a random headcrab and terrorizes Tesla with it. Listen. The headcrabs completely safe (think Llamar from Half Life 2) but she's intentionally dragging it along to fuck with Tesla. The way the conversation happened is basically: Einstein: Hey Nikola come here for a minute. Tesla: Did you find a way out?! Einstein holding the headcrab: Einstein: No but I found us a pet. Tesla: Wha- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING FUCKING KILL IT LIESERL!! Einstein: That's rude Dr. Tesla. It's harmless, and look! It already likes you! *Headcrab is trying to get ontop of her head* Later on Einstein disappears with it for a minute and comes back with a bow on top of its head to fuck with her even more. She's not amused. It's either laugh or cry in Black Mesa and Einstein chose to laugh.

They were just about to transfer to a different facility the day the resonance cascade occured. They were literally putting all their files / work / desk ornaments (pictures, utensils, etc.) in boxes and about to eat lunch when their luck ran out. To say they were mad would be an understatement

They had beef with Gordon Freeman before all this. Einstein just found him annoying by the off handed interactions they had meanwhile Tesla despised him and thought he was incompetent. She also witnessed him destroying someone elses lunch in the break room and for awhile refused to leave her food alone even with Einstein there to watch it when Gordon was supposed to come into work. They have Beef.

They hunt down the Gman. They have beef with him too. I would not put it past them to find that man and beat the shit out of him until he lets them go home or fixes everything. 'But he's a god like being-' and? Welt Joyce was a godlike being as well and he was bullied by them. Don't underestimate the power of annoyed and angry scientists who have dealt with aliens and the U.S. Marines trying to kill them. Which for the record they were beating the Marines asses. They're powerful. They're angry. They're gay.

They'd probably make it to the Lambda Lab before Gordon Freeman and help the Lambda team out. Once he disappears into Xen they'd probably help him only because they just want to go home already. They're tired and they're done with Black Mesas bullshit.

Tesla hated working at Black Mesa. It felt like god was smiling down at her when she and Einstein got transferred over.

They never went to City 17. Maybe they'd play some part in it, but I haven't finished watching Half Life 2 so I'm not sure what role they'd play.

Teslas hair would be put up in a braid for a majority of the time. This is mainly just because it's dangerous for it to be that long with all of the safety risks (getting snagged on things, catching on fire, aliens grabbing hold of it, etc.)

There's this one idea I had that is angsty but LISTEN TO ME. Sometime during the game Einstein slips up and nearly gets seriously hurt / killed, but Tesla instinctively jumps in without thinking and grabs her before she can fall. Thankfully neither of them got hurt but also it could've ended Horribly with the both of them falling.

Tesla and Einstein get guns like the girlbosses they are.

SE-POST Reread part 2/4

Well continuing my reread, so here some notes and doodles again.

chapter 10:

Even after all this time and rereading it, I'm not sure of the title of this mini-arc is clever or just tedious to read and comprehend. I guess I let you decide,

Think this one improved shows an improvment in drawing the faces, or atleast it has some panels that were quite nice or probably just used a relevant reference. I even like the scratchy coloring of Ragnarok. Ofcourse some action panels still are hard to read and rushed which is one of the biggest flaws of it t. The other flaws that I noticed atleast when rereading it now was the clunky dialog, with all the repeated words and some of it probably being unclear without the context of being the author. Still I think I liked the chapter for a few reasons: Firstly, a lot actually happened in it, not only having a lot of conversations in different scenarios with different scenarios but also an action scene and other variety. I think I made Ragnaroks perspective interesting enough, but maybe I have read not enough stories to know if it truly is just cliche and explored better in them. Still, maybe being an asshole as a defense mechanism so others dont realise how pathetic you are is relatable to somebody, even if nobody would admit it lol. Anyways this is a two-parter, so I probably will write more developed thoughts after rereading that one.

chapter 11:

I think I once said this was one of my favorite chapters, and even if I like a bit less than before, I still find it solid. Think if I didnt rush the art in certain parts it would be a big improvement already, even though I quite like the visual direction for it overall. Maybe having Ragnarok face such a suicide-like situation is a bit to extreme, but I guess you can only redeem yourself by being on the brink sometimes. Still hope people liked the humor as much as I did, even though I expressed it through clunky dialog as allways. Atleast the gift giving scene at the end should be ok for most people, but if it isnt, I dont care cause I know its good lol. Still wonder if anybody who cares about "power systems" thinks my justification for the resonance and the whole "soul-world" interaction to be bullshit But I think stuff like that doesnt really matter to much, especially in a story like Soul Eater. Anyways, hoped I have something deeper to say in this note, maybe the chapter speaks for itself afterall? Oh also go to youtube and type "village sniper" if you havent by now, funniest video.

chapter 12:

I still wonder if people get who I was referencing as the bad guys in this chapter, because I made it obvious enough, but maybe the overly rushed sketchy look of the designs obsucred it too much. Still if serial killers can be shown as kishineggs, why not evil businessman and politicians (we had allcapone afterall). Still the biggest loss due to the bad art in this chapter was that I couldnt convey the drip of the certain Bahanas resident in a way it actually looks good. But maybe Pattys training paying off makes up for that, hope I didnt make her to "OP" or "Mary Sue-ish", think she has enough charachter flaws for that not to be the case, and (maybe I should have shown that more clearly) she probably wouldnt survived against the big bad if Kid hadnt shown up (and Liz too, because maybe if they weilded each other and werent distracted by sibling rivlary, but eh that would be to soon for the story...) Also Kid snaping out of one phase and jumping into another - maybe the change was a bit too quick, but eh, think he was in his "literal kid" phase long enough, and repetive jokes get old, nomater how thematicaly relevant they are (like the 8 and symmetry jokes got old in my opinion, not counting the times they got some variety and clevernes added) Anyways this chapter also set up alot of stuff that didnt get resolved completly by know, but what should be of importance in future arcs, some things getting payoffs sooner than later...

chapter 13:

Man, I remember wanting to finish this chapter but being super tired, so I did the cover art at a time my brain was probably already shutting down, because I only later realised how shitty it looked. At the moment of its creation I genuinly thought it looked well rendered, and just after the fact saw what a polished turd it actually was, weird how impresions can change. Shows that I should get more experience in rendering things and not just sketch aimlesly... But on the chapter itself - I think the dialog is often less clunky than in the beginning and not bad overall. I wanted to portray how everybody thinks of Kurma as a joke but that her delusional confidence actually is able to overcome some of the disrespect by the end. Is that a good message or interesting dynamic - maybe. One could wonder if introducing an even bigger threath right now is a bit overkill, but I thought it would show that the only threats arent just some witches having a midlife crisis. Also saying "sis" instead of "bruh" lol. Anyways, one could say that in the end it is a set up chapter, but I enjoyed my intepretation of witch society, from its culture to worldview and eccentricities. Maybe I went a bit to farcical with the whole humor, but eh its a stupid fancomic of a stupid cartoon, so to make it all gritty and serious would be even more stupid. And maybe the witch society being so broken is kinda a point, I mean complaining that Satan gets worshiped the wrong way seems to be a sign that mayb the fundementals werent that great anyway Oh also it has the tease for the school dance chapter, so lets see if that holds up as the best one yet...

chapter 14:

yeah this one is still great. The art is improved from the previous ones, the plot is fun and yeah I dunno I just like this one for some reason, cant say much more

chapter 15:

I wonder if I had started with the art quality of this chapter, if the reception of the whole story would have been different? I mean it still is amateurish and sloppy in the fight scenes, but still, atleast to me, looks acceptable for a fanwork. But ofcourse this chapter was very dialog heavy, so thats one reason for all that. And that probably isn't what most people like, it got a bit sacherine and overly sappy even for me, and I think the brief action sequence was included just so it isnt all just charachters crying about how they love each other lol. (And for thr gnomesis pun, gnosis, gnome, get it????!) Oh it also was one chapter that started hinting the whole oil thing that got later revealed as necessary for the black blood, I wonder if this will go anywhere... Anyways maybe writing about a charachter who is an orphan wothout first hand experience is not the best idea, but I guess if one couldnt place oneself into others shoes, all books would just be authobiographies.

chapter 16:

Ah the Giriko chapter, fun fact when I was "storyboarding" it out, I thought it would be a two parter again, but then I realised that it all fit into one chapter. It is also the first chapter where you can really see Crona developing his dislike for witches, and we all know how that goes (technically it began at the end of last chapter, and there were hints earlier but you know). Think the faces and stuff were mostly good, but some the action was so bad that even I had difficulties telling what is supposed to happen, lol. But still I think it is a decent chapter, having a lot of action but also some humor and interesting conversations and developments. Also a few setups that still only have developed a little, so you know I have a lot planed, and I'm not close to finishing writing this weird story, maybe by the end it all will make sense...

chapter 17:

Oh boy, the start of the probably most out of left field miniarc. But with soul having a vintage bike he just casually rides around, why not? They uave to move around somehow And its a more original thing to include than playing nintendo games or something like more than one soul eater fic I read did lol. But anyways, I actually liked the weird pencil like "shading" in the beginning of the chapter, had a nice look to it, matching the whole cartoony but dark asthetic of hitchicking at night. Think the whole chapter has a unique look to it. Things about art aside, I guess the main conflict could sound a bit to overdramatic, would Crona break down like that after something like this? Maybe not, but I think I made it plausibel with the disapointment of having your selfdoubts confirmed again after a brief moment of hope, especially when everyone said that its so easy and you think ypu would disappoint people. Still wonder if people felt this chapter is to weird and I might admit that I put in stuff I didnt even want to consiously, maybe some bad memories warped too fit the story... But anyways, the story turns into a kindof b movie thing so that will be more obvious in the next one.(Also did anybody get the Magic Mountain joke?)

chapter 18:

I don't remember this one being this good lol Probably just remembered messing up the reveal of the GT-R and thought the whole thing was trash, but nah, dont care what anybody thinks, this shit was entertaining. I mean who would come up with fighting a car? And even the moral/lesson worked lol, think its something everybody needs to hear. I mean, I admit some panels were hard to understand, like Crona using Ragnaroks wings to get a boost to lure the car into the swamp and ect. but still. Oh and also, out of all my typos, "Jhoney" was on porpuse, if you know you know. Anyways, I dont know, guess I just liked the humor and interactions and shit, dont know if it resonantes with anybody but me, but if you wonder why, this all was why. Even hard to summarise it all, so lets go to the next one, think that one was genuinely kinda lame, but maybe I'm wrong again

chapter 19:

This one probably really felt like filler for many, and yeah it is more of a slice of life one without too much "happening", even though a lot of charachter development, seeds and set ups do occur in it. Also I quite liked the coloring and shadows in this one, must be when I accidentally had the right settings in the programm before I actually understood what I was doing later lol.

But yeah, maybe I overdid it with BlackStar bashing in it, like I find it funny that he interupts some make a wish foundation thing for a kid who has literal cancer, but that is maybe more of familyguy tier humor that doesnt really mesh with the tone, but eh Still think I gave BlackStar enough self awarness to not make it tottaly a hitpiece, and I guess the way is going is also because I actually have in a certain sense the most longterm plans for him, but if that ever gets fully realised, I dont promise cause, man, it will take more than anybody would ever expect. Anyways, as said the movie referenced was "Wild at Heart", a weird movie that one should not watch with anybody, especially not with relatives. Maybe just watch some scenes on youtube, like the one about the main charachters, Sailor's, alligator jacket. Anyways maybe I should say more but maybe not so

analyzing my own drawings under the cut cuz its my blog i do whatever i want

/i use all pronouns so ill be jumping between they she and he. ratio of each pronoun in this post is not the same ratio i actually prefer for myself or my sona/

its mostly very similar and the only two things that look "off" in the old art for are the lashes and shape of her hair

lashes are kinda easy cuz i dont actually like presenting too femme for too long w/o any masc elements to counter that and theres lashes consistently. idk why and also i havent done that ever since i dont think

and hair now goes up first for some reason?? also it changed in the literally the first drawing i did after the mspaint doodles (the second drawing [end of 2022])

that change also made the whole shape to be more trapezoid-like (aka WRONG)

theyre supposed to be triangle + circle* and trapezoid is very square</3 im not gonna change it now cuz i like the way it looks but i might make em more square+triangle instead (will also help w making them less thin)

it also made the hair look less ear like WHICH IS SUCH A SHAME ok heres some me lore

[first half of 2022]

so originally he just fully had animal hears that turned into hair later when i was simplifying them. the idea was that its just ears that look like hair (or hair that looks like ears)! and it actually was like that for some time

also clothes were exclusively based of off stuff i was wearing to school regularly (the blue shirt over a tee. i still have it!). same with the haircut and pimples/other weird dots on my face but that ended quickly:

to be fair i wasnt drawing myself much until recently (Gray fixed me everybody say thank you Gray) so the way she looks wasn't as consistent and i was kinda bullsitting it every time. hell a third of these files are labeled "redesign" or something similar

its still inconsistent but THIS TIME its on purpose, with the major things such as hair shape, body, tail if i remember about it being the same and minor such as body/facial hair, lashes, tits, bra strap appearing and disappearing (epic transgender moment)

fun that of all things the wolf nose, sharp teeth and the black shirt are the things that have been consistent for a while. and now cargo shorts are coming back too loll

makes me wonder what will happen next. will i keep the collar? how will the clothes change? the shapes? will i finally start drawing them with their tail? i dont know and its so exiting!!!

*for those who know nothing about character design, there's three shapes with which you design a character: circle square and triangle. they mean different things and are used to convey character's personality visually, for example square is seen as stable strong and static so if you're making a character like that it would make sense to use more square-like shapes

it doesnt always means square circle and triangle literally and more that bright dynamic character is going to have more sharp edges and a fast character is going to have lots of curves which is why i said that trapesiod is more of a a square

having too many different shapes on a character might make them a little confusing to look at so people usually choose one and build character of off that, i like to also have a secondary shape to make it easier for myself

→ seeing the two together you could blatantly tell who was- the ‘top’ one could say. and that could go both ways but thats not what we are here for.

→ the way you were so open and confident about yourself allured him surprisingly. he wouldn’t really like someone like that personally but you hooked him stupidly enough he would say.

→ you always initiated most of the moves within the relationship, which- often startle Kei.

→ seeing him freeze up as you snake your arms around his waist behind walls always made you laugh, the deep chuckle rumbling in the soon comforting air. the deep hue of flush decorating Kei’s face under his shades. him muttering soft words that you couldn’t catch, but one was obviously “stop laughing idiot..” and whining lightly “..but you like my laugh thouuu..”

→ before being able to finish your statement you felt the blonde cover your mouth with a clothed hand, his sleeve pulled over his palm as he pressed it over your face. the blush on his face deepened more the last time you saw it. only earning another laugh but it was obviously muffled out from you.

→ Kei would be more shy when it came to asking things in the relationship, or he would ask in the most tsundere way.

→ cuddles? he would just signal it lightly till you got the hint, which you usually did. but sometimes you wanted him to use his words because communication was key in relationships. it gradually worked but his pride was a little to much for him to honestly ask for any.

→ so you always gave him the easy way out and cuddled the hell out of him, especially- especially, if he was exhausted from practice and school.

→ kisses? mainly happen within walls and in the privacy of one of your homes. but often being sly and risky you do kiss him in public.

→ possibly ranging from quick pecks to affectionate messes.. (which are often in more secluded places, like in a dark empty hall of the school or alone in the gym.)

→ the expression on Kei’s face always made you proud and more- confident. seeing the snarky teasing blonde flustered underneath your fingertips, your touch. you like it a lot, he knows too.

→ from visual, it was difficult to determine who was the dominant of the relationship. which you both didn’t really pay attention to.

→ because you both already knew.

→ having hands already on eachother at all costs made it difficult to anaylze why- but you both always- always were touching. practically into PDA but you didn’t go too far. only holding hands, linked arms, hugs, etc.

→ kisses aren’t too common nor rare either! its practically 50/50 but you mainly initiate them even if its the slightest peck will have this man flustered so so much but he’s trying to tough it out and stay composed.

→ spoiler it doesn’t work.

→ Ryu would be protective and clingy with you, honestly would bark at people who get too close just like when boys go for Kiyoko- he got two pretty people he simps for <3

→ whenever he gets in trouble you’re the one Karasuno would turn too. knowing how strict you can be towards Ryu to keep him in track. sometimes you would hit his head or back hard enough to get his attention before apologizing to anyone.

→ but in general, you both keep each other in check. its just often- Ryu going feral.

→ you’re practically his rock that holds him down in his crazy world, and he really appreciates it! definitely would admit it out of nowhere and it catches you off guard the very first time.

→ seeing your surprised expression with a slight confusion as he walked with you after school. just blinking up aimlessly at you as if he said something wrong.

→ “y/n? are you okay-??” “ah- yeah- you just said it randomly sho, so it caught me by surprise.” “well! it is the truth!! i wouldn’t lie to you!”

→ after that he continued to say he appreciates you being there for him. and its always the random of times, he probably wanted to see that genuine expression of yours the first time.

→ you may be dominant and assertive of the relationship but that doesn’t stop Shoyo from hugging you, holding or linking arms- nothing-

→ but he’s definitely hesitant for things such as kisses and the more intimate type of moves. 

→ he often drags you around into shenanigans- which most of the time don’t end up pretty if it includes Karasuno altogether. you kinda act like the supervisor of the team too, but you greatly worry if your tangerine would get any harm.

→ whenever someone would pick on Shoyo, and its a definite not a tease, you step in suddenly. often nearby him or passing by someone that muttered something bad about your boyfriend before your stiff tone caught their attention. your voice was quite threatening for someone quiet composed in the school, you easily watched them shut up and close in before walking away like nothing.

→ the suffocating tension in the air linger before being dispersed slowly.

→ this often rises up into some rumors but that doesn’t bother you- because you knew whatever it was is absolute bullshit most of the time.

→ Shoyo would mention you to it often that there were rumors about you, but you confirmed it was nothing bad.

→ “..they were making fun of you Sho, and you being my boyfriend and closest-friend. i can’t just let that slide- it also... frustrates me sometimes.”

→ you softly mutter the last phrase.

→ he just stared at you with adoring eyes before thanking you, jumping and hugging you happily. he hasn’t had people who would stand up for him around the school so he was glad he has someone like you.

but other than her general obnoxiousness she also has that casual gen z homophobia teehee. i asked about what her degree was (bc she had said she just graduated) and she wanted me to guess so i asked for a hint and she did the fucking LIMP WRIST!!!! and i was sorta shocked so i was jsut like "...wat?" and she starts explaining the fucking meme instead of why she did that so i just rolled with it bc i wanted to see where she would go and eventually she's like "it's gay, yk?" and i was like "uhhuuuuhhhh sooooo your major is.... gender studies?" bc i really didnt want to do this shit and i was like um maybe bc she's doing that thing were people pretend the heterosexism men and women face is the same and there are a lot bi and lesbian women who go into gender studies but this asshole goes "no theater arts"
