And everyone gasped
(no one was surprised, not even a little)
#would you be surprised if i told you this is actually the first time Ashton has been my Top Artist?#I've had Spotify for 6 years and 5sos has never not been No 1! it's the upset of the century !#(it's actually just that they simply didn't have a major release this year lol but still 😌)#also LastFM claims my No 5 song is actually Endless Wave so what is the truth#they also claim Sabrina and Fleetwood Mac should be flipped#so clearly the two services count plays different but still I like the ✨ drama ✨#i know Spotify has stated they alter the rankings for the Top 100 playlist but the Top 5 is supposed to be your actual stats 🤷🏻‍♀️#anyways#music is fun!#in the 'music evolution' section Spotify said said my February was witchy and Beatlesque#and I must demand to only ever be referred to by those two adjectives thanks#what other fun stats are there#I had just about 2k more minutes this year than last so yay for mental health improvement#(tho still not doing great apparently bc there was only a 4 min diff between this year and 2022 lmao)#believe it or not this is actually Taylor's best showing in my Wrapped (but then again she did release a 31 song album lmaoooo)#like I said Luke was No 7 according to LastFM with Garden Life his top ranked song#tied at No 13 with Wicked Habit by Ash and Midnight Cowboy by Jade#Spotify claims I was in the top 0.05% of Breakup listeners which is a real girl get a grip moment for me ngl#my Top 5sos song was still Caramel lmao#i have been tagging this for like 20 mins i need to leave ok bye#spotify wrapped 2024#personal

holy grail of last.fm and spotify music data sites. i'd still say check the actual link but i've copy pasted most of the info n the links below
Spotify
Sites, apps and programs that use your Spotify account, Spotify API or both.
Spotify sites:
Obscurify: Tells you how unique you music taste is in compare to other Obscurify users. Also shows some recommendations. Mobile friendly.
Skiley: Web app to better manage your playlists and discover new music. This has so many functions and really the only thing I miss is search field for when you are managing playlists. You can take any playlist you "own" and order it by many different rules (track name, album name, artist name, BPM, etc.), or just randomly shuffle it (say bye to bad Spotify shuffle). You can also normalize it. For the other functions you don't even need the rights to edit the playlist. Those consists of splitting playlist, filtering out song by genre or year to new playlist, creating similar playlists or exporting it to CFG, CSV, JSON, TXT or XML.
You can also use it to discover music based on your taste and it has a stats section - data different from Last.fm.
Also, dark mode and mobile friendly.
Sort your music: Lets you sort your playlist by all kinds of different parameters such as BPM, artist, length and more. Similar to Skiley, but it works as an interactive table with songs from selected playlist.
Run BPM: Filters playlists based on parameters like BPM, Energy, etc. Great visualized with colorful sliders. Only downside - shows not even half of my playlists. Mobile friendly.
Fylter.in: Sort playlist by BMP, loudness, length, etc and export to Spotify
Spotify Charts: Daily worldwide charts from Spotify. Mobile friendly
Kaleidosync: Spotify visualizer. I would personally add epilepsy warning.
Duet: Darthmouth College project. Let's you compare your streaming data to other people. Only downside is, those people need to be using the site too, so you have to get your friends to log in. Mobile friendly.
Discover Quickly: Select any playlist and you will be welcomed with all the songs in a gridview. Hover over song to hear the best part. Click on song to dig deeper or save the song.
Dubolt: Helps you discover new music. Select an artist/song to view similar ones. Adjust result by using filters such as tempo, popularity, energy and others.
SongSliders: Sort your playlists, create new one, find new music. Also can save Discover weekly every monday.
Stats for Spotify: Shows you Top tracks and Top artists, lets you compare them to last visit. Data different from Last.fm. Mobile friendly
Record Player: This site is crazy. It's a Rube Goldberg Machine. You take a picture (any picture) Google Cloud Vision API will guess what it is. The site than takes Google's guess and use it to search Spotify giving you the first result to play. Mobile friendly.
Author of this site has to pay for the Google Cloud if the site gets more than 1000 requests a month! I assume this post is gonna blow up and the limit will be easily reached. Author suggests to remix the app and set it up with your own Google Cloud to avoid this. If your are able to do so, do it please. Or reach out to the author on Twitter and donate a little if you can.
Spotify Playlist Randomizer: Site to randomize order of the songs in playlist. There are 3 shuffling methods you can choose from. Mobile friendly.
Replayify: Another site showing you your Spotify data. Also lets you create a playlist based on preset rules that cannot be changed (Top 5 songs by Top 20 artists from selected time period/Top 50 songs from selected time period). UI is nice and clean. Mobile friendly, data different from Last.fm.
Visualify: Simpler replayify without the option to create playlists. Your result can be shared with others. Mobile friendly, data different from Last.fm.
The Church Of Koen: Collage generator tool to create collages sorted by color and turn any picture to collage. Works with Last.fm as well.
Playedmost: Site showing your Spotify data in nice grid view. Contains Top Artists, New Artists, Top Tracks and New Tracks. Data different from Last.fm, mobile friendly.
musictaste.space: Shows you some stats about your music habits and let's you compare them to others. You can also create Covid-19 playlist :)
Playlist Manager: Select two (or more) playlists to see in a table view which songs are shared between them and which are only in one of them. You can add songs to playlists too.
Boil the Frog: Choose to artists and this site will create playlists that slowly transitions between one artist's style to the other.
SpotifyTV: Great tool for searching up music videos of songs in your library and playlists.
Spotify Dedup and Spotify Organizer: Both do the same - remove duplicates. Spotify Dedup is mobile friendly.
Smarter Playlists: It lets you build a complex program by assembling components to create new playlists. This seems like a very complex and powerful tool.
JBQX: Do you remember plug.dj? Well this is same thing, only using Spotify instead of YouTube as a source for music. You can join room and listen to music with other people, you all decide what will be playing, everyone can add a song to queue.
Spotify Buddy: Let's you listen together with other people. All can control what's playing, all can listen on their own devices or only one device can be playing. You don't need to have Spotify to control the queue! In my opinion it's great for parties as a wireless aux cord. Mobile friendly.
Opslagify: Shows how much space would one need to download all of their Spotify playlists as .mp3s.
Whisperify: Spotify game! Music quiz based on what you are listening to. Do you know your music? Mobile friendly.
Popularity Contest: Another game. Two artists, which one is more popular according to Spotify data? Mobile friendly, doesn't require Spotify login.
Spotify Apps:
uTrack: Android app which generates playlist from your top tracks. Also shows top artists, tracks and genres - data different from Last.fm.
Statistics for Spotify: uTrack for iOS. I don't own iOS device so I couldn't test it. iOS users, share your opinions in comments please :).
Spotify Programs:
Spicetify: Spicetify used to be a skin for Rainmeter. You can still use it as such, but the development is discontinued. You will need to have Rainmeter installed if you want to try. These days it works as a series of PowerShell commands. New and updated version here. Spicetify lets you redesign Spotify desktop client and add new functions to it like Trash Bin, Shuffle+, Christian Mode etc. It doesn't work with MS Store app, .exe Spotify client is required.
Library Bridger: The main purpose of this program is to create Spotify playlists from your locally saved songs. But it has some extra functions, check the link.
Last.fm
Sites, apps and programs using Last.fm account, Last.fm API or both.
Last.fm sites:
Last.fm Mainstream Calculator: How mainstream is music you listen to? Mobile friendly.
My Music Habits: Shows different graphs about how many artists, tracks and albums from selected time period comes from your overall top artists/tracks/albums.
Explr.fm: Where are the artists you listen to from? This site shows you just that on interactive world map.
Descent: The best description I can think of is music dashboard. Shows album art of currently playing song along with time and weather.
Semi-automatic Last.fm scrobbler: One of the many scrobblers out there. You can scrobble along with any other Last.fm user.
The Universal Scrobbler: One of the best manual scrobblers. Mobile friendly.
Open Scrobbler: Another manual scrobbler. Mobile friendly
Vinyl Scrobbler: If you listen to vinyl and use Last.fm, this is what you need.
Last.fm collage generator, Last.fm top albums patchwork generator and yet another different Last.fm collage generator: Sites to make collages based on your Last.fm data. The last one is mobile friendly.
The Church Of Koen: Collage generator tool to create collages sorted by color and turn any picture to collage. Works with Spotify as well.
Musicorum: So far the best tool for generating collages based on Last.fm data that I ever seen. Grid up to 20x20 tiles and other styles, some of which resemble very well official Spotify collages that Spotify generates at the end of the year. Everything customizable and even supports Instagram story format. Mobile friendly.
Nicholast.fm: Simple site for stats and recommendations. Mobile friendly.
Scatter.fm: Creates graph from your scrobbles that includes every single scrobble.
Lastwave: Creates a wave graph from your scrobbles. Mobile friendly.
Artist Cloud: Creates artist cloud image from you scrobbles. Mobile friendly.
Last.fm Tools: Lets you generate Tag Timeline, Tag Cloud, Artist Timeline and Album Charter. Mobile friendly.
Last Chart: This site shows different types of beautiful graphs visualizing your Last.fm data. Graph types are bubble, force, map, pack, sun, list, cloud and stream. Mobile friendly.
Sergei.app: Very nice looking graphs. Mobile friendly.
Last.fm Time Charts: Generates charts from your Last.fm data. Sadly it seems that it only supports artists, not albums or tracks.
ZERO Charts: Generates Billboard like charts from Last.fm data. Requires login, mobile friendly.
Skihaha Stats: Another great site for viewing different Last.fm stats.
Jakeledoux: What are your Last.fm friends listening to right now? Mobile friendly.
Last History: View your cumulative listening history. Mobile friendly.
Paste my taste: Generates short text describing your music taste.
Last.fm to CSV: Exports your scrobbles to CSV format. Mobile friendly.
Pr.fm: Syncs your scrobbles to your Strava activity descriptions as a list based on what you listened to during a run or biking session, etc. (description by u/mturi, I don't use Strava, so I have no idea how does it work :))
Last.fm apps:
Scroball for Last.fm: An Android app I use for scrobbling, when I listen to something else than Spotify.
Web Scrobbler: Google Chrome and Firefox extension scrobbler.
Last.fm programs:
Last.fm Scrubbler WPF: My all time favourite manual scrobbler for Last.fm. You can scrobbler manually, from another user, from database (I use this rather than Vinyl Scrobbler when I listen to vinyls) any other sources. It can also generate collages, generate short text describing your music taste and other extra functions.
Last.fm Bulk Edit: Userscript, Last.fm Pro is required. Allows you to bulk edit your scrobbles. Fix wrong album/track names or any other scrobble parameter easily.

woah they made spotify wrapped but for twitch
they gave me streamer stats so here's what they said
i was in the top 10% of signalis streamers which was pretty cool!!! :D i really enjoyed that game so i'm glad :D
Tumblr media
the people love petting bruno, having a little dance and my despair.
also shout out to all these people who are so wonderful and lovely thank you thank you for being there :) <3 it feels a bit odd to apply the term fan because lets be honest, this is just a list of people i'm friends with online lmao 😭 hope you're all doing well!! sorry that twitch has automatically enrolled you in my fan club
Tumblr media
also they gave me a viewer version which is fun!!
i was in the top 10% of ultrakill watchers lmao i like having twitch on as background noise and lurking in chat to boost people's numbers so the numbers are maybe a little bit inflated compared to how much i actually watched 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look!!! it's a bunch of my friends!!! (and also jerma) i'm really proud of them all and you should go watch them so that they can be in your top 5 next year :) they're all funny and wonderful i promise you'll enjoy their streams :D
go watch smaller streamers on twitch!! there's a bunch of really talented people on that site and i promise if you check out a handful of people with less than 20 viewers you're guaranteed to find some lovely, welcoming communities full of really amazing people :) including mine you should all follow me and then follow my friends and then commission all the artists in our circles :) give them money :)
also next stream soon!!! hopefully tomorrow (tuesday), the plan is to either play Tacoma or Red Tape, but also i have a cold atm so the plan is up in the air atm 😷 whatever and whenever it ends up happening, i'll be streaming on twitch.tv/fakeshibe at some point :)

Wrapped 2023 (Aijamisespava Edition!)
Oookay, taking a break from my messenger role in Eurovision Land to bring you something different (buckle up, this is going to get long). Yesterday was Spotify Wrapped, and while I'm off celebrating my favorite songs that made it to that top 100 list, I also become a wild statistician and bring you my stats.
General Stats: Well...I listened for 139,902 minutes (more than my friends and family), my top artist was Taylor Swift with Evanescence, Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, and Loïc Nottet rounding out my top 5. I'd go into my top 5 songs but.....Loïc Nottet took 3rd and 4th with "Mélodrame" and "Mud Blood" respectively. What about the rest? That's what I'm here for.
Welcome to my Eurovision 2023. Any Eurovision song that makes my Spotify Wrapped is in my Grand Final. So countries can participate as many times as they appear. So here is my list. I'll have their actual placement on my Wrapped in parenthesis.

Austria 2022: "Halo" by LUM!X and PIA MARIA (68)
Russia 2016: "You Are The Only One" by Sergey Lazarev (69)
Belarus: "Forever" by ALEKSEEV (72)
Denmark 2013: "Only Teardrops" by Emmelie de Forest (73)

Ireland 2022: "That's Rich" by Brooke (87)
Ukraine 2017: "Time" by O. Torvald (93)
Finland 2022: "Jezebel" by The Rasmus (96)
Cyprus 2021: "El Diablo" by Elena Tsagrinou (97)
Moldova 2010: "Run Away" by Sunstroke Project (100)
Honorable mentions go to "Gladiator" by Jann and "Novi Plan Drugi San" by Filip Baloš for making my Wrapped at 21 and 32, respectively. They may not have made it to the Eurovision stage, but they have a soft spot in my heart. Unfortunately, I did not have any Junior Eurovision songs make it. But if they did, they would be listed.

you know how we talked about the 'motion sickness' and how much we have/play it? i just looked at my spotify stats and it's my top song of all time. I've played it nearly 600 times... i was about to say "keep in mind i only started listening to phoebe in 2019/2020" but then i remembered that that's 5 years ago now so just gonna close my mouth and pretend i didn't say anything
also i cannot read, i'm so sorry, but either way seeing waiting room and scott street live is so so lucky and i also LOVE concerts, they are my favourite thing in the world. literally went to see noah kahan in november time last year and it changed my life. i'm also seeing gracie in march next year so im just ugh, im so so so excited, life is good when you have concerts planned yk
okay so let's go over my wrapped the last 5 years
'20 top song was Terrible Love (streamed 460 times) and top artist was 5sos
'21 was a song by an abuser that I don't feel like putting on here (streamed 494 times) and artist was Hozier
'22 was actually Motion Sickness (total of 333 streams) and artist was Ms. Swift
'23 was Cloudbusting (with a total of 435 streams) and artist was Ms. Swift again
receiptify is suggesting Taylor might be top artist for the third year running
I'm actually seeing Vance Joy again tomorrow I'm p excited
also off topic one of my work kids was giving me shit over how I'm very poor at math but I haven't been in a math class since my junior year of high school which would be spring of '21! and math was my poorest subject. I only enjoyed geometry! so it's been four years since I've had to even think about using equations and shit
sigh anyways

Hallo, I'm posting this entry like a week late but it's better than nothing tbh. Anyways this is my first weekly music update, i basically just talk about what music i really like from that week. I will be talking about new music i find, my favourite songs, what playlist im listening to the most and show my spotify stats as well😋
This week, due to the announcements related to Melanie Martinez's new album, I have gone back to my roots and have been listening to all of my favourite songs by her. Melanie has been one of my favourite artists for years now, probably since just before k12 came out!! It's really hard to decide on my favourite songs by her since I really like all of them; despite this I have still decided on my favourite song from each album/ep. From crybaby we have 'pacify her'; from k12 it was a bit harder to decide but i'm going to go with 'highschool sweethearts', and lastly from the after school ep we have 'The bakery'. In the last week almost all of my top songs have slowly become melanie, she's just really amazing like that I guess. Anyways i'm super excited for the new album, her new form is really pretty💕
Here is a playlist with all of my favourite melanie martinez songs!!
Some of the other songs seeping into my spotify stats are from a playlist I have called "WHAT IS THIS MELODY ''. This playlist has quite a bit of crystal castles in it. In Fact the overall theme of this playlist is just crystal castles and other songs that I think are kind of similar. I think that my favourite song this week was probably 'Goth' by Sidewalks and skeletons, this song is on the previously mentioned playlist as well!! I just really love how the song sounds, it's a good one to listen to on loop while doing things😊
Other artists I've listened to a lot this week are Lana Del Rey and Glass Animals. I really got into Lana near the middle of last year due to my friend who is a lana stan, and I'm honestly very grateful for it. Lana has so many amazing songs, i just sometimes feel like i'm on another planet listening to them, she managed to place in my top 3 artists during spotify wrapped last year lmao. I don't particularly have a favourite song by her at the moment but i think ultraviolence and art deco may tie with each other. Anyways moving onto glass animals, they have been my favourite band since around 2016. I initially found them through sally face and creepypasta animated memes; 'pork soda' and 'The other side of paradise' , , they really had a chokehold on us all istg. My favourite album by glass animals is probably 'how to be a human being' . Every single song on that album is a masterpiece, I literally cannot dislike any of them if I tried. My favourite song from HTBAHB is probably 'pork soda'; from zaba its 'black mambo'; from dreamland 'space ghost coast to coast', and finally my favourite single is 'golden antlers'🥰
Heres my favourite songs by glass animals!
And heres my favourites from Lana <3
Majority of the music at the top of my stats came from me listening to them on loop for hours at a time and also from exclusively listening to the same playlist for weeks. I haven't actually listened to them in a while. They're just still up there from listening to them so much. Fun fact "miss you" by south star has been in my top 20 for months now, i listened to it 399 times last year and i can't seem to get rid of it from my stats now. Anyways, I am now currently working to get rid of those songs from my stats😭

Thanks Nikki @lovingstheantidote for tagging me to share my Spotify Wrapped, even tho I'm a day late with this.
So, I didn't get a 'listening personality' slide :( idk why, so I'll share the other ones I got:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are we shocked H and Fine Line dominated? No! Fine Line girlies unite 🥰
Now to the not so fun part, since you guys asked:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as I said yesterday, the Spotify algorithm really fucked my wrapped stats, bc not only do I have songs I don't even remember ever hearing in my life in my top 20 (?????? how), but I also ended up with an artist I don't listen to in my top 5 (cry with me). I think this happened bc when I let my Spotify play their "random" songs after an album, they always push this artist's songs. So they're saying that qualified them for 5th place. I literally cannot sing along to these songs, I can't name them.. I don't even know them UGHHHHHH anyways
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't listen to TS and I have no clue how they're saying she's top 5. This is rigged. It has to be rigged!
I'm tagging anyone else who'd like to share, especially anyone else that felt like the Spotify algorithm played them dirty, bc WUT IS THIS. pls share
Anyway, here's a video about the Spotify Algorithm, and how it constantly pushes certain songs

So I’ve got a Spotify playlist consisting of the compiled contents of 81 different Alastor-centric playlists, like I just copied the contents of every single playlist I could find with no cultivation, no filtering, and no censoring. The one limitation I put was no duplicates of the same song—although multiple versions of the same song off different albums was allowed.
And since then I’ve been listening to this all-packed-together playlist on shuffle. It’s brought up several comments/questions. Highlights include:
- To every single person that includes a romance song with lines like “baby you’re my angel” or the like: are you a Radiodust shipper actually referring to Angel, or are you a Charlastor shipper referring to Charlie’s “fallen angel” heritage?
- One of you included an entire creepypasta story about the devil talking a man into killing his ex-wife and her lover as part of a 500-step-long plan to conceive the Antichrist and I’m not quite sure why it was on an Alastor playlist but I appreciate the characterization of the devil in it. I guess a creepypasta is kind of a radioplay of sorts? Maybe more Alastor playlists should just have random radioplays mixed in.
- To the person who included half a Kidz Bop album on their Alastor playlist: I’m not judging, I just wanna know why. I want to understand. I really want to understand.
- I respect all you people that included song covers by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox and I understand where you’re coming from, but like, if you’re not familiar with music genres from before 1990, I suggest you look up which genre a given PMJ cover is trying to emulate, because if you’re stuffing PMJ covers on a playlist specifically to make them “sound like” Alastor’s era or because you’re going for “songs Alastor would like because they sound like what he’s used to,” then a PMJ cover that makes a 1990s song sound like a 1970s song isn’t quite in the right neighborhood.
- There are different philosophies that go into making a character playlist. Some go “the genre has to fit the character’s era and/or personal tastes, whether or not the lyrics do.” Some go “the lyrics have to fit the character, genre be damned.” Some go “these songs were big/popular when I was into this character so that’s what I associated with them.” Some go “these songs are really out there for the canon character but fit my headcanons.” Some people may have totally different criteria I haven’t even thought of! Anyway the point is: when you mix over eighty playlists together, you get every single playlist-making philosophy mixed together, and it’s an exciting experience to listen to.
- And on that note: every single genre on the planet is on this playlist. We’ve got Britney Spears, we’ve got Vocaloid, we’ve got Thomas Sanders (we’ve got a LOT of Thomas Sanders), we’ve got My Chemical Romance, Two Steps from Hell, Barry Manilow, Oingo Boingo, Within Temptation, Madonna, Kesha, Hans Zimmer, ... we’ve got the poppiest pop, emo, metal, electronic, folk, rap, rock, movie soundtracks, TV soundtracks, classical, disco, country, KPop, Carrie Underwood, every single decade for the last 150 years... and I’m deliberately leaving out all the jazz, swing, electroswing, and musicals, because those are a given for Alastor. Obviously those ones dominate the playlist but it’s amazing how much variety there is outside them.
- I’m frankly amazed by how much of this playlist is Thomas Sanders and Bendy and the Ink Machine. Like. It’s a notable quantity.
- That said, actually the playlist doesn’t quite include every single genre. Like, for example: I can tell y’all want to lean into Alastor’s New Orleanian/Louisianan/Creole roots from how many songs I’ve seen that include words like voodoo, Creole, New Orleans, bayou, uhhhh The Princess & the Frog, etc... And yet aside from a few New Orleanian jazz artists so far I have crossed paths with very little Louisianan music compared to, say... Undertale songs. So here. Start with some Cajun, try some Mardi Gras songs, I’m not totally sure how much of this playlist is “actually from Louisiana” and how much is “other people making songs that they think are Louisianan” but try this one anyway, and once you’ve oriented yourself a bit dig in here. I wanna see ten Alastor playlists with one song that includes “Zydeco” in the title or album name, stat. Sure, we know Alastor’s all jazz and swing and musicals, but I sure don’t listen to only three genres, you probably don’t listen to only three genres, and Mr. Radio Guy Whose Public Title Includes The Word “Radio” Who Likes Bursting Spontaneously Into Musical Numbers probably listens to more genres than you and me combined, and those genres probably started with what was local & accessible & common around where he grew up.
- Then again I haven’t listened to this whole playlist yet, sometimes I put it on shuffle and sometimes I put it in alphabetical order to try to slowly work through it from top to bottom (I’ve made it mostly through the C’s) so maybe y’all hid the Cajun & Creole music down in the D’s. But lemme say this: while randomly shuffling through the playlist, I’ve randomly run into multiple Irish drinking songs & shanties, and randomly run into zero zydeco, so like from those of you who follow the “music that sounds like what the character listens to” philosophy of playlist-making, non-jazz Louisianan music could use a lil more representation. If there’s room for twenty-six Billie Eilish songs there’s room for one BeauSoleil song. (I’m partial to “L’ouragon,” but you do you)
- Somewhere in this massive mixed playlist there are three parody medleys of Disney songs rewritten to be like “here are grimdark edgy lyrics about all of the terrible real-world things happening to the cultures depicted in these Disney movies!” and like, okay, I can see why that merits inclusion in an Alastor playlist, his big moment in the pilot was “take an optimistic song worthy of a Disney princess and rewrite it with grimdark edgy lyrics,” but those three songs still annoy the hell out of me because the specific way they frame the concept of their songs is that Disney movies/songs are “full of lies” and these songs reveal the lies. And then it’s things like... “Aladdin got captured and interrogated by the CIA,” which is definitely a thing that happened to a character living in an ambiguous time period that predates the existence of the United States, much less the CIA, much less the CIA’s meddling in the middle east, by several centuries. Disney was definitely lying about the reality of Aladdin’s day-to-day existence by not depicting American imperialism that predates America. Or “the characters in The Princess & the Frog have to deal with the fallout of Hurricane Katrina,” like, yeah, Disney sure is pulling the wool over our eyes by dishonestly denying the devastating consequences the 2005 hurricane had on 1920s New Orleans. Listen the lyrics are clever and all the things they discuss are real salient social issues but it still drives me nuts that the songs are framed like they’re revealing “lies” being told when half of the movies are taking place in (fantasy versions of!) time periods or locations where the issues they’re discussing didn’t apply, if they’d just framed that one line differently— Okay, okay, I’m finished, I’m done, I’ve got it out of my system
- Every single love song makes me go “are you imagining this song with a ship (and if so which ship) or do you just think Alastor would be into this song?” The question goes double for songs from the 20s/30s, because the odds that they added it to their playlist just because they think Alastor would like the song increases.
- On the other hand, if whoever added “A Formidable Marinade” isn’t a Charlastor shipper I will eat my hat. Also nice work on the gory cannibalism sex song.
- Every once in a while I’ll run into a song that makes me go, now how the heck did you end up on an Alastor playlist? Does this song line up with someone’s very specific headcanons and/or fanfic plot? Do they think Alastor would like this song? Did they happen to like the song and like Alastor at the same time and so they associate them with each other? Examples: “I Got You (I Feel Good)”, “iRobot” (is it the emotionlessness of being post-death?? do they headcanon that he’s got radio hardware replacing his guts?? is it a post-breakup ship song??), “Greensleves”, “Barbra Streisand” (the song, not the singer), “Jolene,” “The Last Steampunk Waltz,” “Seven Nights in Eire,” “Cruel Angel’s Thesis,” and the person who included half a Kidz Bop album, please, I just wanna talk—
- Every time I hear a song that includes the words “hell,” “sinner,” “smile,” or “radio,” I go, “Haha. Nice.”
- An incomplete list of songs that amused me for how on point they are: “Hotel California” (how often do you have a fandom where “Hotel California” is actually very blatantly fitting without having to twist through an extended & convoluted metaphorical interpretation?), “The Hunting Song,” “The Axeman’s Jazz,” and “Time Again”
- I sort of hate whoever put “Circus” by Britney Spears in their playlist and made me realize that lyrically it’s a perfect Alastor song because it is.
- *scrolls past six versions of “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows”* Haha. Nice.
- *scrolls past five versions of “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)”* Haha. Nice.
- *scrolls past a song from Bambi* Haha. Nice.
- *scrolls past five versions of “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile”* Haha. Nice.
- *scrolls past eleven versions of “Sing Sing Sing”* Haha. Nice.
- What’s with those of y’all putting steampunk songs in Alastor playlists? Listen, listen: steampunk vibes are for Sir Pentious. Swing vibes are for Alastor. Don’t cross the streams. Take your steampunk songs and make Sir Pentious playlists with them. He could use more playlists.
- The playlist includes 39 songs that include “smile” somewhere in the title.
